Northern Pine Brewing - Del Mar

Every beer we had here was good. My wife liked the saison the best, my favorite was the hazy IPA. This was our first time checking out the Sky Deck, and I know for sure we'll be back (and bringing friends and family). The best part is you can order from the food court below, and either have it delivered to where you're sitting, or even go pick it up. And we specifically need to come back to Northern Pine, because I'll need to get a growler :)

Great beers and 4 tvs for sports fans! Love coming up to the Sky Deck and watching the games on weekends. Everyone is always so friendly here and the vibes are elite!

Unique place offering three separate drink establishments. Like a drink court instead of a food court.

I really hate giving bad reviews being an entrepreneur myself but in this situation, I can’t see any other solution for this establishment to take the recent situation very seriously and take the correct action to make its customers (us) feel safe and respected. Denying to split a tab and insulting customers as well as provoking them to start a fight was unbelievable ! And the no action taken by the manager after our un-finished (but paid) drinks were taken from us was similarly incredible ! Really unfortunate as the place looked very nice but I definitely don’t recommend anyone to go there until fix their hiring process !

Extremely rude personnel and awful management, will never go again. One of our group friends asked to split a check, the bartender not only refused, but started insulting him. Our friend refused to tip him while paying the bill. The bartender then decided to come to our table and take all our beers, even if many of them were not finished yet and all of them were fully paid. When we called the manager a lady showed up and completely declined to intervene saying she didn't see anything. The bartender then followed us to the exit threatening to beat us up outside and continued to say expletives. We didn't call the police only because it was late and we honestly were exhausted by this story, but this place should be shut down if they accept personnel behaving like this with paying customers.

Disappointing how customer service is not a priority in… a service driven establishment!🤦🏽‍♂️ The bartender course when asked to split a check. This is common practice and while annoying got the bartender, it is a customer right, unless is established from the beginning that splitting checks is not possible. I understand that tips are a lifeline for the restaurant industry workers, but earning a tip is also part of the exchange. The bartender at this place was very confrontational and clearly didn’t give a hoot if the bar lost new clientele.

GREAT PLACE ! I came on Sunday and got a couple beers with my friends . Ambience 10/10 music and tv . Variety of beer 10/10 I recommend the Mexican Lager and the Sour . Costumer service 10/10 our bartender Jake was very helpful . Definitely coming back .

Great beer in a great spot. You can order food from downstairs using a QR code and have it delivered to your seat. Service was great and I had a good conversation with the bar tender. Will definitely go back.

This was my favorite brewery at Sky Deck, I feel like there were better beer choices for my taste here. I'm a fan of porters and this one was delicious! I can't say anything about the customer service just because my husband ordered and paid. I never dealt with anyone. But the beer is good.

Came here on a whim during the holiday break. My wife and I drove down to Del Mar for fish tacos originally, but since we drove a bit, we decided ti make a day out of it. We found Northern Pine as it was close by to where we had fish tacos. I've always heard and saw photos of Sky Deck and was lucky to kill two birds with one stone. The brewery is located at the top of Sky Deck in the back. There's lots of seatings and other spots to check out for drinks. We sat right at the bar and ordered a flight of beer. The beertender was very attentive and helpful. We ordered a couple IPAs, their Red, and ESB. All were pretty delicious. Wish we could've had another pour but we had a long drive back. Also, since it's at Sky Deck, there's a QR code where you can scan and order food from any of the vendors on the first floor. They'll deliver right to you -- we didn't do this, but the dude next to us did and I thought that was cool. Would love to visit again!

Write a review while drinking a beer? Why not. I can set the glass down for 30 seconds at a time, I think. Northern Pine has become my favorite brewery on the new Upper Decker, and has become in the top 3 among my favorite breweries overall. Obviously, the beer is very, very good. The Saized and Confused is my go-to thus far, followed up by the Cracking Chaps Pale Ale. Like any SD brewery, they have IPAs, but killing your tongue with an onslaught of hops, like many SD breweries, isn't their objective. The guys who work here are always helpful with the samples and guidance. There is usually plenty of seating, either at the bar or on the adjacent tables at this far south end of the deck. There are 4 big TVs next the bar, usually running the current sportings. I do have some opinions about the overall food court setup here, particularly about their treatment of disabled people who have service animals (those reviews aren't too difficult to find). My pup Ava, whose service involves finding french fries on the floor, is absolutely welcome on the Deck, just not in the food court below, which is fine. Now I need to finish my Saison. I'll be back, and often!

This brewery is on the top level of the sky deck. Fun place to people watch. Good selection of beers. Friendly servers. Big patio is a shared space for three different breweries so there is something for everyone. I believe you can order food from the restaurants downstairs and have it delivered up to the upper level. Cool little local spot!

This was my first time at Northern Pine! The beers were good and service was good. I just wish I was there a lil earlier because I got there b4 closing time. I really liked the ambiance of the place because of the way all the bars and restaurants are set up! I would recommend going to Northern, I will be back!

Great beers and service! Highlights include their Gose Berries Sour, Saized & Confused Saison and Golden Horizons IPA. I was told the brewery in Oceanside was worth a visit, especially on Saturday nights for the live music. Pay them a visit as one of three selections at the Brewers Deck in Sky Deck at the Del Mar Highlands Plaza. I learned a lot and got excited to try all the different styles just by having a conversation with the super friendly bartender.

Definitely the best brewery at the Sky Deck, but that really isn't saying that much either. The bartender was pretty rude to us and made us feel dumb about the questions we were asking. And the beer is decent, but nothing special. I would recommend visiting Harland Brewing across the street instead of the options at the Sky Deck.

Beer was good but experiences like this leave a sour taste in your mouth bartender *extremely* rude -abruptly grabbed empty glasses from across our table/leaning across us while we were eating -did not hear an order and proceeds to serve incorrect beer without rectifying -closes out our tab for us and tipped himself 20% I understand it's hard finding good people to work in this market, but no excuses for this behavior

Beer was not bad but service was lacking. small things like being welcoming and seeming less annoyed would have gone a long way.

Northern Pine Del Mar is excellent! Great food downstairs. Great beers upstairs. And a beautiful view on a nice summer day. If you are in the Del Mar area and looking for a lunch spot, definitely give them a try. You won't be disappointed. 10/10

After waiting anxiously to try this place out, I am stoked to give NP a very well-deserved 5 star review. This joint quickly sailed up my list of favorite breweries in SD. But why? In a craft beer market saturated with hazy this and beach vibe that, NP offers a more rustic, cabin/camp experience. Complete with modified camp chairs as bar stools. This is apparently influenced by the owners' Boise roots, and it permeates through the whole experience they offer. They serve the tasters the same way you list them on your taster tray, which I always appreciate. All beers are GF. This was awesome because they don't advertise this and I had no idea, only found out because someone came up and asked if they had any GF beers. The bartender said "all of them." This brings me to the bartender, Chris aka the man. I popped in to get a crowler to go for a party I was headed to. Chris let me try out the different beers until I found the right one. In a true test of service, the keg tapped for the one I wanted, and Chris served me the last bit. This is true service ladies and gentlemen! Of course, the most important part: the beer. As I mentioned earlier, everyone is doing hop haze cloud dust beers right now that look more like orange juice than actual beer. Not up in here. The pale ale had that beautiful translucent / almost Amber color. The IPAs were tastefully hoppy without being too bitter. They also had a pilsner which is perfect for the summer. Loved my experience here, love what they have to offer, and can't recommend this place enough.

First tried this place the very first week they opened and have been a regular since. Staff are very friendly and accommodating to all the various sporting events that tend to be requested. They have a variety of beer options and the menu seems to be updated on a quarterly basis if not even more frequently. Their Golden Horizons IPA which I believe is their flagship IPA is absolutely my favorite and is overall a very well balanced beer. Would recommend for anyone to stop by in the area who are looking for a variety of food options available next to a taproom with great views from the skydeck.

I do like this place and good views of the tvs to watch sports. Just be careful when giving a credit card to hold and then cashing out paying in cash. I did this, then noticed when I went to pay my credit card monthly bill a week or so later, I was also charged on my card AND a tip was even added, go figure! I disputed the charge with my cc co and it was removed. I will pay as I go in the future.

Not a huge beer drinker, however I loved their brews! All of the servers were really nice and personable. Really like the vibe there.

Bartender was a peach! Good beers, wish there was a cider. You can order food but it comes on disposable plates-ramen was good!

The northern pine beers definitely did not disappoint! Service was AMAZING! Hooked us up with great beer and had great recommendations for our tasters. The Mexican lager was fantastic, and then the pineapple IPA was my favorite!!! Big thanks to our bartender, he was fantastic and we had a great time taking about the beers with him! We will be coming back again not for the food, not for the atmosphere, but for our bartender and his fantastic recommendations! 10 billion dollars/10 billion dollar rich person score!

Options are limited and much better places around for a drink. Will stick to places that are closer, have food, and much better options for drinks.
