I'll tell you what, this grocery store will make you Wish you were Mexican. These stores have flare, selection, prices. Everything you can think of, great Masa to go for tamales. Great meat department very busy. Take a number and wait, it's worth it. Store is very clean. People were very nice. always look forward to coming back, Awesome

Ordered a cake with pineapple filling and pineapple on top. The pineapple was missing from both inside and out. But they got the birthday message right.

Great Store !! Lot produce .fresh vegetables 🥦, huge meat department… home made tortillas ( always fresh ) they have also home made Mexican food , lot of products like lala from mexico …. Lot parking, handicapped and wheel chair accesible….

I was really craving for a good carne asada torta this time, so I went there at about 8:00 pm just to be told they run out carne asada but in about 15 minutes they'll cook some more so I went back 15 minutes later just to be told this time that they just run out it again. I'm like really!!! What kind of service is this. Maybe you should consider removing the carne asada option from your menu. What a disappointment! 😞

So excited to have this market open in the IE. It's so impressive with it's amazing selection and low prices. It's really big and spacious and there's a lot of really cool features that make this a one of a kind shopping experience. Newly paved parking lot with is very nice with a lot of spaces. Building is clean and easy to see from the street. Walking in you're going to be amazing by house big the market is. Starting from the left and wrapping around the building you'll see different stations selling different food and products. If you purchase food you can go upstairs to their nicely decorated dining area and eat. Lots of seating and plugs to charge your phone. From there you can overlook the whole market which is coo. They also have a community room as well. The produce section is the biggest i've ever saw. Big selection of specialty produce, bulk containers and spices are amazing. They make their own tortillas on-site and have a really impressive carneceria /butcher section. Beer and wine area is big! like, it's massive! and of course they have a big bakery with great selection of pastries and baked goods Over all it's a great market that really sets the standard for markets to open in the area. Now they have online shopping through their app! Shop and purchase online and then drive up and they put your items in your trunk.

1st time here and absolutely love it! Lots of different prepared foods you can pick up. Tried the posole,tortas and tamales and all were delicious. I will definitely be back sooner than later.

We come here for the cocina. It offers a huge selection of tadditional mexacan cuisine at an affordable rate. From fresh mariscos to tamales and tacos. Let me not get started on the healthy juice options!!!

My 1st time coming to Northgate Market. This is the one in Riverside that opened in November. Very clean, conscious of social distancing guidelines & overall friendly. Exceptional customer service! Was very stunned to find out that they have a sushi station with everything made in house, and done by a chef who is widely known across Riverside. Martha is one of the workers who helped me along and educated me about some of the history of Northgate and explained some of the different sections in the store to me. I very much look forward to trying out some of the products here at a future date. They have a little bit of everything!

We, in the neighboring city of Corona, have a large number of grocery stores that cater to our large Latino community. So when I heard that the Northgate Gonzales chain was planning on opening yet another store in Corona's downtown (in the near future) as part of the city's revitalization, I wondered exactly what that meant to me. Recently both my daughter and my son had good things to say about shopping at the Riverside location. But I needed to find out for myself. So we went there several times in the past few months and it has grown on me. This is a substantially large store, very well organized, quite clean, and very friendly. The fresh produce section is quite impressive. It has the feel of some of the magnificent Asian markets you can find in parts of Southern California, bustling with activity, with a beautiful butchery and well-stocked shelves that cater to Spanish/Latino tastes. But it was the huge, hot food section that has won my heart most recently. I am a real tough critic when it comes to buying good carnitas by-the-pound, as it tends to be overcooked, dry, and too lean. But what I found here was perfect. While I struggled language-wise to express what I wanted to the lady at the counter, with a little help from strangers I came home with an amazing chunk that melted in my mouth. You will find many hot dishes, some are self serve, others require assistance. But what caught my eye were the Family Meal Deals that include all the mandatory meal extras (salsa, tortillas, beans, rice). For the two of us, our meal rang up at $19.99. That comes with a full pound of meat, plus sides. For an additional $16, we would have gotten another pound of carnitas, enough for 4-5 they say. While not particularly in love with the sides, it is OK, a really decent deal. My carnitas cravings can now be satiated without having to worry. I am ecstatic! All in all, I am looking forward to shopping in the new Corona store (maybe open sometime in late 2025?). Their standards really impress me, and apparently many others as well, as this one was very busy.

My favorite Mexican market. Best tamales the pork are my favorite. But this AM there were none in the bin. Lots of parking out front. Good service and lots of great food.

Why did it take me 16 years of living here to find out about this place? Referred to by a coworker, stepped through the doors eyes widened, slow head turn, pulling phone out, the camera eats first. So it kinda feels like a mix of Whole Foods and Ensenada. Fresh squeezed juices, every tamale you could think of from sweet to savory, champurrado, soups, hot plates, fresh tortillas, sushi station, tacos, burritos, fish market, meat market, food samples like Costco, the bakery is on the opposite end of the store. It was so fun walking through and seeing everything they had to offer. The servers were so friendly and welcoming. Keeping the self serve stations clean and organized. Containers are at each station for hot prepared food with paper towels for those drips. Serve and pay at the only food register in that section. Line can fill up quickly. The prices are on the higher end for groceries, not as crowded in the shopping area. The big draw is the prepared food section. There's a seating area upstairs to enjoy your food. Bar stools and countertop line the window to view the store from up above or there's lower seating with larger table space. Restrooms are also located upstairs. The Chile relleno, sopes and champurrado were excellent. The tacos were missing some flavor needed seasoning and the chili & cheese tamales were ok just mostly masa but dessert tamales had good flavors. There's room for improvement. Some food items are a home run. Really great place to stop for some lunch on the go, family dinners or larger parties. First visit, success!

I circled the flies I saw) I like coming here for the prepared food and to get meat, sour cream and cheese. It was busy today cause they had a cow and a horse outside for some kind of event. Lots of people waiting at the meat department. Went to go order some shrimp and there were FLIES all over the raw seafood. The workers ignored them and waved them away. But I saw MULTIPLE FLIES on the fish and shrimp. It was disgusting, I didn't buy anything after that. They were everywhere.

This Mercado has everything a person would need to make a fresh Mexican meal. The varieties of meats, cheeses, fresh produce is incomparable to other stores. It is very clean and customer service go's above and beyond to be helpful. It's decorated beautifully. There is already cooked meals, fresh Agua frescos, freshly made ceviché, freshly made guacamole, Mexican candies and a bakery; to say the least. If you get the chance to stop in, do it; you won't be disappointed.

Service at Northgate was outstanding! I went on 11/26 looking for a specific dried "chile pasado" and I could not find it. I asked for the manager and an employee called her immediately. Karina the manager went to find it with another employee in the back. She said it is not on the floor in produce but we will find it for you and she did. Everyone is so helpful!

Tamales are great here, tons of different food here, the tacos are $1.99 here , can't beat the price.

This is my preferred option for Hispanic groceries in the area! For example, they have a great selection of fresh foods: the ceviche is nicely prepared, the burritos are good, and there are a number of other options that I am excited to try in the future! They also have a variety of options that you might not otherwise be able to find, often with reasonable prices. I also like the atmosphere for the shopping experience.

I once had eaten Chicken Tamales from here went an got some today and they were Horrible if I wanted just Masa I would have ordered it. There was no chicken in them will never buy them again....

This place is ok in a pinch but the prices are high on name brand things. I thought it was interesting that they would put "sale" on an item for 1 penny. I guess some people fall for this false sales price.

One of my favorite markets, Northgate has a wide range of products as well as a very good food court. Prices are on par with competitors and the friendly staff are always willing to help. The store is well maintained including the restrooms which are always clean and stocked with essentials.

I've been hearing about this store for a long time and finally came in to try the hot food area for dinner - not only was the service amazing but so was the food! We got a Carne Asada burrito and a Pastor taco and Carnitas taco with the green salsa. They have a nice place upstairs where you can sit and eat and look out over the store. This store was the cleanest grocery store I've been to in Riverside and it is huge.

Everything we have bought here at the restaurant side tastes amazing! The ceviche, the rotisserie, the pozole. EVERYTHING. We also just tried the tres leche cake for my daughter's birthday, it was so good! Not too sweet and very light. My kids love coming here and trying different foods and buying the Mexican candies.

Bad chicken gave me rotten pieces had to throw it away never coming back I don't think they check there meats at all

drove 30 minutes to go to a market with Mexican food. It wasn't worth it. Nothing special here. Sushi was not good. Mex food was average. Stay in ur hometown Iam sure you can find good food there.

This review is only for the takeout food options: Upon entering, you can sense the cleanliness of the place with so many options! Nice quick lunch and dinner options. And by options, I mean options! Tamales - sweet and savory, grilled chicken family meals, burritos, quesadillas, agua frescas, and more. They have a quick checkout lane for takeout food items only which is greatly appreciated especially when you're on the go!

Bad customer service in meat department I went to buy cheese it was more then 10 people waiting to be help and on the meat Dept it was 5 people and only one girl was helping customers they were just watching us and talking each other instead of helping that's worse part it was my cheese I don't know if the put the cheese under the shrimp I got home and I opened the bag to cut and it was all wet and a strong smell of shrimp came out they should be more careful they can get someone sick.

First off, let me start by saying that I am at this grocery store at least five times a week. I love that the produces is usually fresh. The meat is a great selection the homemade food is amazing every time! So imagine my dismay when I'm shopping today November 4, 2024 and I'm getting ready to check out and I asked the girl at checkstand in English if she could bag everything. Then the bagger comes up to assist her with the groceries, and he tries to put my milk in the basket and I tell him again in English can you please put the milk in a bag and he replied no problem. Then the checker and the bagger start cracking jokes and say.NO SPEAKY SPANISH to each other and laugh And laugh theN the bagger says sarcastically BAG EVERYTHING then the both of them start making little jokes in Spanish like I don't understand. My Spanish may not be the best, but I understand it perfectly well enough to know that they were talking shit at the register as they are ringing up my groceries and in my face, I know Mexicanos don't like to be made fun of because their English isn't so well but it goes both ways. Latinos don't like being made fun of when their Spanish isn't so great. Do better NORTHGATE!

Produce with many options for the Hispanic community's. If you need species vegetables or meats for those dishes mom taught you, this is the place to go.

First time here and the experience was cool. The place is huge in the inside. I didn't get a chance to explore the whole store. I was there for the hot food that day. I thought it was cool they had a grocery store and restaurant in one. When walking in the place is super clean just by glance and the workers are nice. I end ordering a burrito and since it was Tuesday, a taco Tuesday special came with a drink tacos and rice and beans. I was excited to try their food. After getting home I was able to sink my teeth in. First bite, I thought this burrito needs some seasoning and or salsa, it was bland. That was disappointing for sure. I was hoping it would be flavorful and something that will make me want to come back. The food was ok maybe another day it would get better, I'll try it again no problem.

NOT AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD! The chilaquiles are drowned in some nasty red sauce. The burritos have no flavor. The beans are rice are also flavorless. Just a waste of money. Do not eat here or order food to cater it's just plain nasty!

I don't get to come often but when I do it feels like a treat. The prices are reasonable and I love getting their aqua frescas, guacamole or baked goods. I've never had any problems with any employees and it's always colorful and clean. They have a lot of good pre made cold and hot meals or side dishes available too.

Decided I didn't want to cook, so I figured I'd get some to go food from them. Unfortunately, their food wasn't as well priced as I expected. Additionally, their food portions were small. I'll know next time go to Cardenas.

Used the northgate pronto service to get a birthday cake for my dad's birthday. I prepaid and received notification the order was ready for pickup. When I arrived the staff was clueless. They had zero idea even when looking at the confirmation email. They said they had no cake for me. They've refused to replace the cake I already paid for. It was their mistake and they've done nothing to make it right. They shouldn't offer order ahead if they their staff doesn't have the skill set necessary. The service was horrible and as a loyal northgate customer (I usually go to the Orange County stores and have never had any issues) northgate riverside is consistently awful and I won't be returning. Do not let them ruin your loved ones birthday do not order cake here because apparently no one staffs the bakery after 4pm. This place is truly awful and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and go to Cardenas instead.

I wanted to provide feedback about their churros on their app but I didn't see anyway of doing that. This is the second time I've bought churros from them and they're not very good at all. They're chewy and tasteless. At $1.59 a piece, they need to do something about their recipe. There's insufficient sugar/cinnamon as well. I thought perhaps the first batch was just a bad one but today's was equally bad. Sorry Northgate! The store on State College has fabulous churros and a huge selection of various flavors. Perhaps connect with them and do what they do?

The best Mexican store in a Riverside. The food court food always hits, I got agua Fresca de Guava and it was amazing! I got agua chiles, and split a torta with my friend. They have a hidden sitting area upstairs where you can eat.

Saturday lunch time was crazy busy here. Their cantina section was insanely busy because they had big orders to fill and customers who wants to dine in. The staff was not well trained yet because they were all over the place and just asking each other here and there about their own work flow. Their food choices in the cantina section is big. I ordered 2 tacos for $4: Al pastor and barbacoa. I could honestly say that the barbacoa was one of the best I've had. The Al pastor was good too. I wanted to try the short ribs and fried fish but they were out and they were still cooking them. I will definitely go back and update my review because any place could improve and it's worth going back because food was delicious.

The food was absolutely incredible with service that was equally exceptional and unforgettable ambience. True, authentic Mexican, like no other!

I come here at least once a week, lately I have had a bad experience here. Today I wanted a fresh orange juice and I asked a worker if he can make it or have someone make it for me. He said yes but did not get anyone because one of his friends or coworker showed up and they started taking to each other and help him with getting agua fresca. When he was done talking I asked again but he seem mad about it. Then I waited again and his friend came back to get another agua fresca and he gave it to him. I came up to him and ask him if he can get a manager or someone and he said I'm going to right now. Besides that he helped everyone else that came his way. He send new girl which she told me before that she didn't know how to make them and she end up doing it and when she asked for help the guy said just do it like that it's fine. I try asking for his name but the first two people I asked they told me that they didn't know his name but that he was the owners nephew. I did complain to someone. They said that they would talk to him.

I love this market! The produce is always fresh, hot foods are just like Nana use to make, ceviche is on point, the pan dulce is the best around, and the meat selection is huge! I normally stop by to grab a few tacos, tamales or ceviche for a quick lunch, but today I decided to try something new and went with the Torta Cubana. It was amazing! Can't forget the agua fresca

This review is for the hot food and pan dulce sections. Last night we ordered a pound of carnitas, a Chile relleno, and a half dozen tamales. The carnitas were completely over cooked and rubbery. Perhaps a few days old. My kids couldn't even chew them! The tamales were not cooked all the way through with the masa mushy and flavorless. The Chile relleno was good - up until the last bite when I had to pull a disgusting long hair out of my mouth. As for the pan dulce, the teleras and conchas were hard and definitely not fresh. I haven't come to this Northgate in over a year and was really disappointed to see their quality in these areas decline. The hot foods section is what used to distinguish them from competitors and made the drive worth it. Service was ok - the majority of the employees I interacted with were friendly.

Love this store I was impressed. The produce is fresh. This is a beautifully designed store. I'm definitely going back.

I'm sooo sick of this location!! I purchased the Buenelo they were old Moldy and had white spots!! The large shrimp is mixed with small shrimp on occasions! & they claim they isn't mix them on purpose! Shop here with caution! The store is clean for the most part. They have a variety of herbs even watercress which I use in my Korean hot pot! The service is always good! I never had an issue with customer service. The manager of the meat dept is a lil dry and not approachable but other than that I have no issues. I only really come here for the shrimp because it's the best no watery taste! It tasted like real shrimp.

Really disappointed with this store, whenever I'm really craving something for some reason they never have it. Whenever I try to get a torta Milanesa they never have that meat!! I ask how long they will take and they always say it's going to take a while. Once I went at 9am and they said they where out of it!!!! I was like damn, and I said I will wait for it and they said the same thing, it's going to take a long time to make it. Very unprofessional place, they are not responsible and the owner I met twice on familiar situations (doesn't really care about the people, customers)

My favorite market! I will take the extra drive out of my way just to get to one. Every time I buy peppers from here no matter the kind they are always spicy and full of flavor. I stop by here for lunch to get my favorite hot dish, carnitas in red salsa! Omg talk about spicy and full of flavor! My go too 100% The market is always clean and stocked with product. I've never had a problem with anyone or anything there. When a homeless had come in the store, they monitored him and made sure everyone was safe. But they did not discriminate or treat him differently and just kick him out. Great job, on being kind and safe. Along with great customer service when checking out. Thank you, gabi

I had never had cakes from here before. The first time was when my husband bought one for my father's in law birthday it was a tres leches cake and it was very delicious! So I went ahead and placed an order for my son's birthday tres leches as well. And it was so good! Very moist and light. My son was very happy with how his cake looked. I forgot the lady's name but she did an amazing job!!

Ruth in carnicería was so kind and helpful. She was very patient as well. She is the definition of great customer service. Definitely deserves a raise! As for the quality of food and items at this store there can definitely be improvement. There is fruit and vegetables going bad while in the store.

This is one of my favorite markets. I have everything you need. The market itself is always fully stocked with great products and great prices. But what I like is the different sections. Have a cocina that was pre-made food so delicious. They also have a ceviche station, sushi, a juice bar and they make tortillas fresh in-house everyday. Oh don't let me forget the awesome bakery!! Lots of parking and the staff is really helpful. It's definitely one stop shop for everything.
