A Gigantic New Mexican Food Hall and Marketplace Is Opening in Costa Mesa | Eater LA

"As the grocer behind Mercado Gonzalez, Northgate is leaning into a Mexican mercado-style marketplace format for its new Costa Mesa location; the company’s first Northgate market opened in 1980 in Anaheim as Northgate González Market, and ownership is now into the third generation spread across 13 siblings." - Matthew Kang

I’ve really enjoyed buying lunch here in the past, but I was quite disappointed today. I purchased green chilaquiles, and they weren’t what I expected. The tortillas weren’t crispy at all. It felt like they were just warmed up in the microwave with some green sauce, cheese, and onion added on top. If you’re looking for authentic chilaquiles, I’d suggest skipping them at Northgate!

Northgate is one of my favorite grocery stores to shop for our weekly needs. Every time I stop here, the store is clean and organized. Their produce is always fresh, and their deli offers many selections from sea food, beef, pork, chicken, and turkey. In case you don't feel like making dinner, they have a great selection of ready to eat food.

I just came to get some carnitas , crema and queso fresco. Everything was good. Just when I got the area to get the crema and queso. ANGEL was working the area. He was very courteous and friendly he was helping one after another after another customer with a smile and very pleasant. The issue was that he was not the only one in that area working. There was a lady, yes she was busy filing up the sour cream. But Angel needed help. He already had a line and kept apologizing for taking long. Which he was not. He was hustling and getting the work done alone. This lady should of put what she was doing on hold and helped Angel on this busy time.

We come to this Northgate for our groceries. I shop here a few days out of the week, they have great produce meat selections, hot foods, bakery items, and various products from different brands. My only complaint is that they put a lot of items on sale when they're not. I always end up seeing those exact products before and after the sale marked at the same price, as a customer, I feel I'm being played. Other than that, this Northgate is one of the best locations I've been to.

This was fun. We are from Norway and we’ve never seen a supermarket like this. Specially the fresh food departments. Overwhelming fruit and vegetables. Never seen such range. Nice staff. Good prices. Big parking. #wheelchair friendly. Thank you for a good shopping experience.

When you walk in and look around all you can say is, "WOW!" They have all you need for Hispanic food & drinks and more! There is also a sweet Asian lady making BOMB sushi rolls. You won't see that at Cardenas! I bought a dozen pork tamales, half-dozen chili & cheese tamales, a couple of strawberry tamales, and, of course, a small tray of yummy sushi rolls!
