Northgate Market

I have been coming to this market since I moved to Bell like 14 years ago, I love this market the service is always attentive most of them, love the bakery department, the tortillas are the best I ever had , sadly the meat department has drown the quality, I notice a weird smell in my ceviche but the worst part was a lady bug almost at the end of the container. ( I attached pictures) This experience force to put the one star review, I don’t mean to be rude as I said I love this store !! I just want to call the managers attention to be more careful with prepared food.

Sadly the meat from this grocery store has gone down, the quality is super poor and the food smells after you cook it, basically has an unpleasant odor. It’s the second time this happen fb to me within the last year, I’ve bought meats hundreds of times from different meat market and this Northgate in Bell has the worst quality. Please fixed this, I’m not the only person who has complained. Do y’all bribe the health inspectors or what?! 😡

My wife and I have been at Northgate Gonzalez Market for couple of years,we enjoy shopping there they have everything including fresh prepare meals and great Bakery. We aways buy American and Mexican products that's why we like shop there.

Friendly customer service they have everything you need, a Freeway Insurance inside, a Prospera, they always carry fresh flowers, fresh ready to eat food dining room.

Got chicken and green chili tamales, I was greatly surprised how good they were. They are not big , however great flavor. There plain white corn tamales are delicious. Cheese and green chili tamales are also great. Oh my gosh they have the best store bought champurrado I have ever tasted. I usually make it, however this year I made some and it went quickly. Since I did not make tamales and bought at Northgate, decided to try Champurrado. All my family commented how good it was, just like homemade.

I will give minus 5 stars if I can, worst experience ever, I wanted chicken breast so I went to get a number and I waited for my turn patiently until suddenly they stopped calling numbers and they starting helping people who barely came in so I told them right away that I was next, but the old lady just ignored me and she told the guy in black shirt, and he ignored me as well and both of them continued helping some other people then the guy came and told me that he called numbers which is not true cause I never left and I was there standing for my number to be called, you can review the cameras if you want 06/26/20 around 4:15.I spoke to a lady wearing a burgundy shirt and a net hat, the cashier told me that she was the assistant manager which I doubt it cause she didn’t know what to do.

Great Market,, Good Prices,, People,, AND they even have a "Bag Boy" for the Groceries!!! ❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤ Definitely,, A Must Goooo...!!!🙏🙏🙏

Fourth time I get cashier Christina and same thing happened she gives you the wrong total. This time I said something and she got mad at me and said I should pay attention and that her job is not to tell me my total! I nicely said this is not the first time and she laughed and started helping the person behind me. All I ask is respect I left feeling so embarrassed I would not hire people like that. Most likely will find new local market.

The food is all good, I love to shop here for the chicharron and aguas frescas. Meat seems always fresh. Staff members are pretty nice for the most part. Some do not really seem like they want to help out. I like that they have enough lines open to check out but sometimes only about three so lines can get long depending on the time you go. Over all I like shopping here and the food is worth it. Bakery items are amazing! Best bread in the city of Bell.

Very disappointed... I came and waited about 6 minutes at the counter by the bakery, then I went to ask an employee (older lady) who was cleaning the aguas frescas if I could please get service and she said it a rude bothered way idk tell the manager and I said who is the manager Because I don't know who, and she pointed to the front so I went over and the manager said the employee In charge left already it was 9:10pm & they close at 10pm SO DISSAPOINTED. Because I refused to go to food 4 less but I should have.....

Came to get some tamales, walked in and right out with two dozen, pork and chicken verde, two hour drive and they were still warm. Worth the trip and cost, need to visit version of North gate more often

My wife and I have been shopping at Northgate Market for couple of year. We look around from different competitors for quality and price. My wife like produces they fresh from the farm and better price including also meats and poultry. I like shopping at Northgate I enjoy their Bakery especially their Mexican sweet bread and bolilo they so good. We like shop at different Northgate Market depends we were. The Northgate Market in Bell is really nice.

I love coming to Northgate Market for all my Ethnic ingredient needs. Their staff is knowledgeable and courteous, making you feel at home the minute you walk through their doors. They have a great kitchen offering items like: Carnitas, Pork Belly, Chile Rellenos and much more. On this occasion I came to pick up my Rosca de Reyes (3 Kings Day) Bread. It's super moist and yummy. They have several sizes available and ready to go.

Really disappointed with this location went to the store around Christmas so the meat department had us step into a number due to the high volume of ppl so upon requesting meats you could not go and inspect the meat you are getting ..my surprise when I opened the bag I see more than half of the meat Is just fat .. I understand all meat has fat but this is outrageous this should not been put on the display to sell and the employees should had not bagged this up!!!

Lately I have been complaining about green crush which is a juice place in the mall where they have different Mexican refreshments and they over charge. Today me and my husband came to do some grocery shopping. What I like about this place is that you are bombarded with cool food in the beginning and drinks. You can drink your juice while doing your shopping or you can even take it to go! So today we noticed they have the one flavor we always get from green crush! Strawberry milk! We had a taste of it. And it was delicious!!!!!! So a 24 oz is about 2$ and something cents. The 32 oz is 3.99$ And a 72 oz is 6.99$ Which is so worth your buck! I wish I would of taken a picture of it but I couldn't wait to drink it. The juices at green crush are usually about 6$ for a 32 oz and it's full of ice! Right here you won't get that! Recommend getting a juice from this establishment

I went in today at 9:40, and they had everything close and the doors locked. The employees were all stationed around one cashier booth by the exit doors. It was upsetting because there was an old man who walked there and asked if they would please let him in and they didn't. It didn't appear there were any people shopping inside so I'm not sure if they closed at 9:30. I will be attaching images. Online it shows they close at 10pm.

Today I went to their meat department to purchase a few items, they had what I needed but the stale date was January 30, when I asked one of the employees behind the meat counter if he could check if they had more in the back, he went to the meat department manager to ask him, the meat department manager took the expired item to the back and came back to give it to me and said it was a new one but all he did was re-tag it with a new expiration date. I immediately called him out on it and he said it wasn't. I then lifted the new tag in front of him and the old expired tag was under. When I asked him why he would do something like that, he stated that the item was still good and that's what they did. I looked over the meat counter and he had multiple of the same items re-tagged. I spoked with the store manager and he acted like he didn't know what was going on. He ran to the meat department and started taking pictures of the re-tagged items. This place deserves a visit from the health department or whom ever handles this kind of things. Is that what they normally do with all their expired products??? I think I should call them. I'm sure their camera footage will prove what I'm stating.

Superior grocers ALL THE WAY!!! Bolillo ONLY 3 for 78 CENTS!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell yea!!!!! Northgate markets are prettty looking but man you guys are NOT Whole Foods yet have their prices! I used to shop here every time for all my groceries but man. They're prices have gone waaaayygy to high! I switched to superior which is down the street and do not regret it! Also costUnder service is wack. Train people! Train managers. Useless people. 0 stars!

The "aguas frescas" are delicious and fresh. You can definitely taste the difference and worth the visit! I am a regular customer and enjoy going to the stores in Los Angeles and San Diego! Yummy

A lady walked up to my family and I to just bother us. She kept offering to sign this long survey that had so many questions just to give us a receipt and walk away. We went to cashier and she was there when we gave her the receipt to get a discount or free food she proceeds to tell us we can't get this for free/or have a discount because of beers wasted 10 mins standing there while she watches me. Poor customer service wouldn't recommend.

I come pretty often to buy food for meetings I'm coordinating. I enjoy the variety of hot meal choices. Staff is always really nice! Once in a great while i'll run into someone having a bad day, but they're never rude. I like that the hot food section has vegan and not vegan options. I like most of the food, but the enchiladas are salty. The champurrado is soooo good!!!! The bolillos are bomb.

Went to grab something for lunch at "lunch time" first of all the food is great you can't take that away HOWEVER the "food check out lines " were closed they had one "express " lane open that was all the way to the fruit section let's not even mention the regular check out lanes. Ok if you are going to have one express lane open why have someone who's as slow as a sloth! What is the point of going to lunch when you spend your lunch in line waiting to pay ?? I get to pay and the girl asks if I want a bag which I couldn't hear because she was wearing a mask she spoke so low like if she was being held at gun point , I then say no thank you, she hands me my receipt not even looking at me. I say thanks and she just shakes her head. C'mon have some personality !!! Anyway I doubt I will go back for "lunch" Please is you have food to sell for "lunch" at least have the check out lane open especially at noon!

They are so unsafe noone is cleaning the place and the don't implement social distance and the place is over crowded like if we weren't in a pandemic I hope noone gets sick in that place strict rules should be implemented never going back they don't follow any of the safety rules force by the state of California I hope someone does something about this problem or at list the store tries to fix all the problems at this facility before people start getting sick at this place i had to give 1 star but they don't deserve it.

The only reason this place isn't getting five stars is because it's a crappy market. I would not go here to buy groceries. However, their cooked food is good. This is where all the kids and teachers from my school go to pick up lunch. It's also where a lot of locals go to pick up food. They have really good conchas in their rather large pastry section (I like the pink ones better, even though they all sort of taste the same). Also, their chicken plate is real tasty. Their potato wedges are addictive (although I swear they gave me food poisoning once -- I still eat them), their salsas are tasty (and some spicy), and their carnitas are delicious. Because there is such a high demand for their cooked food, they are always cooking! This means that everything is pretty much fresh daily!

This review is just for the bakery!!!! I ordered a frozen cake for daughter I liked the design but not the decoration so I put my own. I ordered marble with fresh strawberries and it was so good!! Everyone loved it! This is my new place for Cakes

I have repeatedly let staff know that some of the "fresh" produce is contaminated with plagues that affect crops. I have told management about the issue hoping it would be corrected, but apparently selling plagued produce is far more important since nothing has been done and I continue to see garbage produce for sale. I'm very disappointed at this store since I've been coming here for more than 10 years. It's time to shop somewhere else.

Delicious burritos and tacos. Got carnitas with all different salas. Wish they put it on the side so I can taste the different salsa. Only thing I would add is some hot sauce! It did take a bit to get the food out but the food made up for it. Big thumbs up! I can see myself coming back for more :)!

I remember this used to be Lucky's way back in the 1990s How I miss it! I HATE THIS MARKET! it is so expensive, some of the employess are mean & miserable! This market don't have much (depending what you're looking for since it's a latino grocery market) parking is always packed it's like everyday is the holidays there, it is INSANE! No one has Manners at all! I remember I used a few times their own version of "coinstar" is a fucking rip off! Ridiculous! I'm glad it is out, their fee is higher than the ACTUAL coinstar. RATEROS! Their food is mostly the ready to eat meats are greasy! the rice is dry & taste old, their chicken is dry like the egyptian desert...not really fresh BUT the potatoe wadges, jaiva de camaron (louie crab shrimp salad) are great. Anyway, just go to a less expensive Grocery market, it is insane!

If I could give this place a zero I would I went to buy some codornices last night and when I got home I opened the bag and they smelled super funky I thought that they were spoiled . Yes they were already marinated but I washed them and put a new seasoning and lemon and left it overnight. Today when I grilled them and they were done I took a bite and guess what. They were spoiled. They're selling spoiled meat this can't keep happening

I wish I could give them ZERO stars! Some of the employees here are super rude! They act like you're asking them for free handouts!

I recommend the Northgate Market because they have a very friendly staff especially the cashier Veronica is always smiling and Xóchitl put the food in the bags for me very kind I will continue shopping in the Gonzalez Market.

this location has the most ghetto people ever . . never going back plus last time i went i bought 4 pounds of carne asada ribs to bbq from this store location as i get home i open the bag to inspect the ribs turns out they gave me ribs with peer fat and no meat on them . . omg i cant believe their degenerate illegitimate person in charge of the meat or whoever prepared them had the audacity to serve me what they served me never going back what a shame . . i was gonna go back to return there shitty ass meat but just trashed it

Northgate has added extra features in recent years, including an expanded section of hot foods to go and a wider selection at the deli. They also sell aguas frescas and have a good selection of pan dulce. They have a nice produce section as well. In recent visits, getting in and out has been easy and there are plenty of checkers open which is a plus. I also like their weekly sales, the beer here is usually less expensive than other markets in the area.

The bread has gone down hill. the bread is hard and the taste is not good. I don't see the old bakers and they have all new staff that does not know how to bake good Mexican bread. the meat market wait is ridiculous. I don't understand why they have staff stock when you have 20+ customers waiting. Management is not overseeing the store's quality.

First off, I try to avoid coming to this place as much as possible.. why? because every time I do the lines are incredibly long, children running around and it gets extremely packed. Other than that, it's an okay place to shop, but like the previous reviews have stated, they do have several cashiers open so I guess that's a plus. This place has a bakery, meat market and tortilleria... which is very convenient since you can buy pretty much everything all at once. Like Jason has stated, they do have a variety of produce, and for those who can get a little lazy to cook (guilty of that) they also sale cooked food which in my opinion is pretty good. I've tried their carnitas (not bad at all) and their chicken is pretty good. Their hot salsa is okay too.

The hot food area staff are very rude. This one lady thats in charge of the hot food area was very rude to my husband just because he was getting a sample of food. The people are miserable there. I'll just go to Food 4 Less for now on.

The cashier Valerie or Valeria was so distracted talking to her packer, talking about how they don't like it when people touch her face lol. Point is, when she was done scanning everything she didn't tell my mom the total which i thought was kind of rude because as a cashier myself it is important for the customers to know the total and know what they're paying for. The total was like $79.07 & my mom told her "i think i have the 7 cents" & she didn't say anything to her & my mom told her "i don't have the change" & ignored her or didn't pay attention to her. That's when i told her "she doesn't have the change" & she said "huh" & i repeated myself. We never have a problem with the cashiers here but she was just not giving us a good experience, just because she was having a bad day or whatever is going through her head, she should not be taking it out on others. She looks old enough to know that herself. I hardly ever make negative yelp reviews but it was unacceptable.

I can't really say much about this place other than I like the fact that if you buy a certain amount of groceries, they call a lyft driver to take you home. That is pretty awesome in my book.

BOOOOOOOO They didnt honor the Yelp check in coupon. Funny thing is a month ago they did.

Their bakery is really good with a nice selection. Recently bought 2 cakes from the Bell location and everyone liked both the tres leches and the carrot cake.

Idk why they aren't taking the necessary precautions with the whole Coronavirus going on. They are allowing lots of people inside the market. People don't respect social distancing. I like shopping here but I think I'll stop coming all together because you guys can't follow guidelines for Coronavirus and are putting everyone including your employees at risk

My family and I have been going to Northgate for this past week and we have been noticing that the meat department employees aren't using mouth masks. I think it's unfair that they aren't protecting the employees nor the customers. I hope to see a change very soon.

Wait did the standards change in the food deli where meal is prepared workers had no hair nets gloves . A full beard sweating over the tortillas. Omg I had to turn around and just walked out. Where is the manager or health inspector.

Long lines. I stood in line for 20 minutes just to purchase 3 items. Will not come back. What a dump

i visit this market many times before and really enjoy the tamales and don't mind paying what i pay. today i had a very unpleasant visit. for some reason tamales had a very out of the ordinary taste. i called and talked to the delis manager. i explained the problem with tamales he had great customer service. the problem i had was with one of the deli worker. she had no customer service. i proceeded to hand over the tamales and right in front of me she tasted the tamales and said there is nothing wrong with them in a very rude way. she also said that we had ate them all which was not true. Management needs to retrained her on customer service! management was very understanding. i hope they take care of this worker and retrain her. she really needs it!!!!

I usually come here bc I like the quality of food they have. The prep food here is really good, produce is always fresh, and bakery has really good cakes and pan Mexicano, but one thing i really don't like is the cashiers. They always have that face like I don't want to work here or simply rude. Like this Sunday the cashier had charged for my things, just left them in the counter, and said have a good day but with an attitude. First of all the food and prices here are expensive and that's why they have people packing and putting you're groceries in the basket. Or if the other packing employees were busy she could have been nice and but it in the basket or said it nicely, but what kind of customer services is that. Northgate seriously you need to be on top of your cashiers and make sure they are good to your customers.

Long lines. I just go like 1-2 Times per month on a Wednesday when they have the cooked chicken for $5. While I make line to get the chicken, my husband makes line to pay for it. Produce is over price and not so fresh. When I got strawberries, they went bad in 2 days. Didn't want to go and exchange them and wait 30 mins in line again.

A manager by the name of Esmeralda is always active and helpful. All the managers and staff are friendly and respectful. All the managers are trying there best to help me on my purchase.

Rarely come here but was in the neighborhood. Lady two people ahead of me had a check to cash. Cashier calls manager who says he can't cash the check. Waited five minutes. Cashier then says her line is closed. She just stood there doing absolutely nothing, waiting for who the hell knows what for five more minutes. People started changing to the two other long lines but not me. I left my stuff there and left. Never again. Manager should have pulled the not cashing your check people aside instead of writing a new chapter of Waiting for Godot. Never again.

Had a deal that i was redeeming in the store, yet they told me I can't redeem it because its on my phone, and i must print it out. Darn! Never had this issue before from other places! Yelp would not present the deal if i must print it out to use it..

They fckn promote free stuff but they still charged you. Bad customer service. The customer is always right. No they are charge for free stuff

My elderly grandmother was verbally assaulted by a mid 40 aged man, customers lack of education and manners. Although the food is provided with good quality but I definitely like avoiding this place.

This store sucks and they sell old chicken so make sure u smell it before u buy it. The management sucks too. They only speak spanish!! Terrible store.
