Northgate Market

My friends and I made a pitstop here on the way to a music festival to use the bathroom. However, they had a taqueria, so you know we had to get some food to fuel up. $2 tacos?! Count me in. I ate steak and al pastor tacos and a few bites of a torta. They were loaded, full of flavor, and made fresh to-order. When I say loaded like it took 3-4 bites to finish 1. It's such amazing value to feed yourself or a family. The rojo and verde sauces were delicious. Unbelievable find in a grocery store for me, which is common for the surrounding residents. I'm jealous!

It’s a good place to get groceries. Has plenty of options. Including bakery, meat market, and deli. A few other options that I really don’t know what they are cause I have never been to them. Pretty fast and friendly service.

I live around the corner and was so excited when they expanded. After months of construction and the promise of a better market with more to offer, I was very underwhelmed by it all. They expanded the to-go food, tortilla area, and fresh guac stuff but the grocery itself significantly decreased and what little they had before, now is even worse. You can’t find basic necessities that you could once. The dessert fridge was cut in half, yet there are plenty of tables with pots/pans, cups, plates, candy and other useful things. Really underwhelmed, specially with the promise of it being better and more to offer. They have miserably failed. The produce is good and butcher is great, otherwise, I still have to go to Vons for grocery. Super sad and wish it had never expanded.

It was clean and organized. I don't go there very often but the times I've gone it's been fine.

I got some tamales, the first day, they were ok, but it's been 2 times now, that their tamales taste nasty and old, and they have no meet and expensive

Hot food counter service young man was great. Variety of Mexican hot food. But I'm spoiled by going to the mercado location in Costa Mesa first 😂😂.

The Agua fresca was not a good thing to get. But didn't go well with my stomach

I came here to get Ceviche and to my surprise there was more than one kind. It all looked so tempting. I tried the #ShrimpAndGuacCeeviche and I was in heaven. Im definitely going back to try the others

I love this grocery store , wide aisles , very clean , organized well and prices are really good . The bakery is excellent -- always get their cakes ... delicious and prices are okay for what you get . Horrible store .. we usually shop there when we are in the mood for carne asada. This past time we decided to get ribs. We noticed the carnicera kept looking back at us while she was "marinating" the ribs. To our surprise the ribs she gave us were almost all fat with little to no meat. We also bought marinated chicken thighs and those were also gross, they had an expired smell so we had to throw them out. The service is horrible! The only thing I can appreciate is their sweet bread variety and quality. I'd stick to Costco for quality and fresh meat.

I've always wanted to visit a Northgate market because I've heard about the wide selection of tamales, hot sauces, meats, and more!! I was so happy to find everything and more, I stopped by the cafeteria area where I got a caldo de pollo - chicken soup w veggies, then I picked six tamales: 2 chicken, 2 pork, 2 beef! I also ended up grabbing a lot of other stuff that you wouldn't normally find in regular markets like chicharrones, canned menudo, specific Mexican hot sauce and more! I'm definitely going back for the carniceria (mean section)!! Also, I haven't seen fresh celery like that in any market even in Costco!! The workers were extremely nice and I thought the market was very clean and organized. I felt very safe and I didn't have any problem shopping in the store.

This is a horrible store. The service is bad when you go to meat department they never want to help and they just talking yesterday I bought chicken it was bad I told the manager Shara and she told me it was my fault that I left the chicken out. Like what why would I waste my time horrible overall

Love shopping at Northgate market for the prices and the daily deals they have. When I entered this market, I noticed a separate little eatery called La Fonda De Doña Tina. After shopping, I was curious enough to order a Carnitas Torta from here. I ordered it with carnitas, mayonnaise, lettuce, cheese, and beans. It also comes with tomatoes, guacamole, and onions, but I decided to take these off. I have to say, this was the best torta I have ever tasted. It was so good and the meat was fresh! I would not mind driving all the way to Northgate just for the torta! The employees at this eatery and at the market are so friendly and always making sure everything is going well on your trip there

I been coming to this Northgate to get groceries & this is my first time going to the food court & ordering a meal. I ordered a carne asada & my companion ordered the tacos combo which was both good but could of been better, both meals was mediocre. Service was great though especially after my companion asked the server about her drink which was included in the meal but the server did not understand English very well & I had an important call that I could not translate at the time but the manager solved the issue & all was well after. The area was clean & the ambiance was chill overall.

ZERO STARS! Customer beware of spoiled meats! Especially seafood! I got 7 Seas Mix and it was SPOILED !! A month ago I got chicken feet for a soup and also had a horrible stench smell!! WILL BE REPORTING TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH!! I honestly wonder if these stores get inspected at all??? Service in the meat department is usually mediocre and forget the produce area, the gentleman always seem upset, cashiers look upset stressed and overworked! Hope they get paid more then the minimum wage because these are not easy jobs! Pictures of my last purchase are way to disgusting to post.

I have start coming to this store with my friend to change his check, I diside to buy some tamales and the tamales have no flavor all dry, next time we came I divide to buy fresh fruit all the pitches I got all bed dry and brawn's, we got carnitas they ware hard and dry. I will not come to buy anything any more. This store don't deserve any sta not even one.

Just came back from this branch . My family lives down the street so this store is convenient . I do like their cocina section somewhat except for today . I went in to get aguachiles since I love them with tostadas . I asked for a pound and the lady gave me mostly the citrus water , I then told her to drain it a little which she barely did. So they basically charge you $9.99/lb with mostly water and with little shrimp. Now , I got a pack of 12 Coke Zero . On the shelve it said something like $4.99 but after reviewing the receipt it's more than $6 Overall I feel cheated and too embarrassed to go complain. I did tell the cashier, who was really nice, to just let the cocina know about their chipotle style serving . Anyways , will stay away for a bit . And if you go make sure to check the screen when checking out to see if prices match the shelve prices .

This review is for the young man named Alberto in the Fresh Hot/Cold food department. Lately when I have been to this location to purchase Carnitas, or Aguachile shrimp I have been helped out by Alberto.. He is Soo Nice, and pays great attention to detail when helping out with my order! Alberto is easy to communicate with and always does his best to make sure I get the product I ask for just the way I like it.. when I visit I usually ask for the more crispy pieces of Carnitas, if im lucky enough to get Alberto he takes his time to pick out the crispy yummy pieces for me.. which I appreciate So much!! Other workers try their best but often dont put in as much effort to make this happen..Also sometimes with other workers their is a small language barrier so it makes things a bit harder when ordering. Alberto makes my trip to Northgate so much more worth it! Hopefully when I return i will be lucky enough to be serviced by him. I hope Alberto's service is recognized by the store as he is a valuable employee and makes this location that much more better!

I bought carnitas in the cooked food department. Delicious and moist. Service was fast and friendly. I also picked up some produce. They were fresh asked reasonably priced. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try this place. I'll be back again.

Been here a few times because it's by my work. Not too shabby. Just that with each time I've been it's been unkempt more often than not.

I'm yelping this place because, I know they close at 10:00 pm I was here at 9:56 just wanted to buy bread (pan dulce )., the security guard didn't let me in Bad bad ...,,, !!

If you are looking for one of the world's biggest burritos, this is it. Got the carnitas burrito and there was a veritable mountain of authentic meat piled on the tortilla. Then a big spoonful of rice and beans were added. Then cebollas and cilantro (that's onions and coriander, Gringos) were gobbed on top. Be smart and ask for salsa to be added then and you won't have to screw around with litle tubs of it later when eating. The giant tortilla was wrapped tightly with the ends secured. The result was a mammoth burrito which weighed about as much as a Paris Hilton dog. I hate when stupid workers at other places make a mess of the wrapping job. There are all kinds of great items in this cocina (kitchen, paleface). Stop in, the kindly ladies behind the counter will guide you through their offerings.

If I could give ZERO stars I would I ordered a cake for my daughters birthday on 12/10/2021 to pick up on Sunday 12/12/2021 at this NORTHGATE and this is what I ordered I told them I would be happy with that color and purple flowers. The bakery workers (2) one wrote my order the other took a picture of the cake and assured me all will be well, they wrote down on the paperwork blue green cake and nothing else bedsides my daughters name but I assumed the picture would be added to my order but apparently NOO! This is what I got when I picked uped I was shocked and upset I told the bakery worker what is this this is not what I ordered but she said yes you did well nothing was solved. But to make matters worst the cake has been left to sit on counter for a long time because when I brought home it was tilting and melting to one side and the tres leches was every where! Think twice before going here ruined my day and my daughters to

It's by my house so I stop in from time to time for odds and ends. I would never consider doing my real shopping there. The lines are insane not because of the amount of shopper but because the staff is inept. The prices are higher than a regular market and the selection isnt as fresh. Do yourself a favor and don't come here for any real shopping.

I have to start off by saying that I always come here and I've never had this issue before. I always get my meat from the butchers so I went to the back and oh goodness I encountered this man (David) with a horrible attitude. I gave him the benefit of the doubt but when I asked him for more meat he got visibly upset. So much so that I had to stop my order with him and ask for someone else to help me. Management: maybe retraining and hiring people that actually are good at customer service wound be great. This happened today 5/31 at around 715pm

The customer service in this place in non existing. The pre-cooked food is discounting and over priced. I have been to other Northgates, but this one should not exist.

Worst Tamales ever they look fat but are nothing but masa. They don't have any meat especially the cheese ones they had no cheese so nasty. Ripping people off

I wake up early to come before I start my day..online it says 6am still waiting opens at 7am ,frustrating and I'm not the only one a lot of guest have approached and left ...change the time!!!!!

The guy in the meat department skipped numbers went from 93-96 I was 94. I told him he skipped numbers and he said I wasn't paying attention embarrassed me in front of everyone. They just skipped the guy before me. I felt like telling him off but I didn't. That was an unnecessary comment. He should have been paying attention instead of blaming the customer for him not knowing how to count.

The tamales are amazing! Stopped in to use the restroom and ended up eating lunch because of all the yummy food offered! Clean restrooms and friendly staff!

Freshness is key to a good meal. Northgate González Market knows that very well and goes above and beyond to provide quality in all there items. It's a gloomy and rainy day and that calls for some good ol caldo de res. So I drove here to purchase all my goods. Shout out to EDDY at the carnicería who gave me two beef bones to pump up the flavor to my beef soup. The produce here is unbelievably good and of very good taste. The prices are reasonable and affordable. Customer service is great and staff here is very nice and helpful. There is plenty of parking if you come early in the morning and late at night. I recommend that you come in either at 6-8am or 8-10pm when there is less people and you can shop stress free. Cashiers are mostly bilingual and very attentive. There is also a hot food area where they have from ceviche to grilled chicken. They have an area where you can purchase Mexican food and aguas frescas. There is a bakery as well with all time favorite sweets like flan and arroz con leche. They have different cakes like tres leches and choco flan. The French rolls (bolillos) are baked fresh every day and they are the best I have had. There is an area where you can purchase fresh masa for tamales or tortillas. And they also carry fresh flowers and balloons. Very special store to me and my family. By the way I called today to ask if there accept Apple Pay and they do. I gave them 4 more stars because this time around they picked up there phone right away! Make sure to come by!

Great produce display and selection, store is tidy and clean. Good sweet bread, bolillos (bread rolls). They do sell prepared meals, fruit cups, fruit flavor water. Noticed they have a variety of plants and flowers for sale. Nice store with typical meat department.

Our family members have been regular customers of your Inglewood store for years. Disappointed to say my husband just had a horrible experience at the store at 10801 Prairie Avenue store. The cashier rang up all the items, bagged none as there were no baggers available, and when my husband asked if she was going to bag the items she told him "That's YOUR stuff!". What?! Apparently this cashier Julie P., is a Shift Manger! So disappointing to know that this is the type of employee the Gonzalez family makes a part of their management. I called the store to speak to a manager and after being hung up on TWICE, I was finally able to speak to Myra who confirmed you have NOT changed your bagging policy, you DO still bag items for your paying customers, and yes, Julie is a shift manager. Very angry and disappointed that a business that receives thousands or our dollars every year treats us this way.

You'll be asked to leave your large purse/backpack as is not allowed on the store. I love shopping at Northgate markets and it's the first store I'm asked to leave my purse behind.

I enjoy shopping for my groceries here and they also have a descent selection of cooked food, I've had the plantain , rice and their chicken. The food was excellent . Their guacamole is freshly made and by far the best one I've tasted . I enjoy going to this store since I feel that they really give a damn with providing their customers good quality food!

Parking sucks people dont know how to drive inside the parking lot be careful where you park your car so wont end up getting hit scratch this only on the weekend and afternoon mornings are ok

If you need Mexican cuisine for an upcoming party, this is your place. Prepared foods, marinated meats, cheap ceviche, bargain seafood, tortilleria, homemade chips, ridiculously priced produce, fresh salsas... this is it. Sure, you have to brave some crowds and lines, but I found the workers, especially in the meat market, to be especially friendly and helpful. A manager-type person recognized that I was a little lost and confused, and he went out of his way to help me out. Very impressed with this store!

First impressions are lasting impressions and this first time has left a bad taste in my mouth. Ordered food from the Kitchen for a Holiday Luncheon at work that should have fed 30 people, even ordered 4 additional pounds of meat. I attempted to call several times in the morning, to ensure my order would be ready by the 1pm scheduled pickup. Only to be left on hold for over 30 minutes each time. *I guess since I didn't speak the language they felt it wasn't necessary to provide quality service.* When I arrived my order was not ready and they left out the cilantro,ceballos and crema. If you plan on ordering from the "Cocina" @ this Northgate make sure they weigh the actual meat and not the juice.

Well I changed my mind about this store. I was very excited when it first opened up. Customer service e was great all the way around. It was multi cultural in there. Smelled like fresh bread. And the advertising's and receipts were in Spanish and English. Now I go to purchase something quick. The store smells bad. I know they sell meat but wow. I went to checkout counter which as no Inc quick. The cashier Roseline greeted the person before me but once I approached she just rung my items up. I had to say hi in order for her to speak. I like to do surveys in receipt but the entire receipt wad in spanish. I called number at bottom of receipt because I assumed it was survey number it was talking about how to win concert tickets from 4/2/13 - 5/5/13. Unbelievable. This is a diversed country. Please have things in your store and receipt everybody can understand

They are over priced and the quality of their meat department is very poor. I bought 5 pounds of Carne Asada and it was so tough, fatty and it's in bits and pieces. It seemed the like the bottom of left over meat. The pieces weren't whole nor large pieces. Very poor! Last time we are purchasing Carne Asada at Northgate, Inglewood, CA.

Be careful this location is selling EXPIRED products I did brought this matter to one of the mngrs there and she didn't care not even a bit. And this is not the first time this happened to me at this location Worse part is that this products are reachable for Our kids ..

I just bought some filete molido to make ceviche and when I got home I realized it was spoiled. My wife called to inform them and we were told to bring the fish back for refund. The manager there Victor was arrogant and condescending and kept saying "I will help you out" like we were begging for something. Aaron the assistant manager took care of the problem for us and also said he would have his meat manager look at all the seafood.

I was really surprised to find out that this location was "temporarily" closed due to vermin infestation... All I can do is notify yelpers about this because I'm sure this grocery will be re-opened tomorrow

Came here to by caritas I have had them at many other Northgate markets unfortunately these were not the same as the other stores they were horrible they sucked

Amazing place! This is a very authentic Latin grocery store in the heart of West LA. It's got everything from fresh baked bread, pastries, hot food bar fresh agua frescas, guacamole and several salsas also fresh tortillas. Very inexpensive for the area and high quality.

What I like about this place: Always fully stocked. Fresh baked sweet bread. Carries a variety of organic products. Short lines. There's plenty lanes open throughout the day. What I dislike: Cashiers tossing the produce when they bag it. ( if it wasn't for my bananas, avocados and apples getting bruised in the bagging process this would of definitely be a 5 star review)

Don't ever buy meat from the supervisor Sarah cause she can't take responsibility for her mess ups she gave me the wrong meat and made me come back and get had the Berber to say she didn't remember me

Came to get a cake for my little sisters bday, And when I got to the party, i opened it and it said "Happy Birthday Nathan" When I told the lady that her name was Natalie. I even spelled it out for her. That's the worst bakery ever.

Ok came here because they are advertising they cater to the disabled and senior citizens... Not True! They would not even let me in the door even though there is a sign on the door saying otherwise! I am a Senior and disabled. The guard at the door went to go ask the manager if he could let me in and the manager said NO! I will never come here again!

I simply love this store, best quality food such ass meats, fish and vegetables. I also love there fruit waters.

When we first came into Gonzales market in another location (Huntington park) we were very fascinated, so when we heard a location was going to open in Inglewood we were thrilled. Unfortunately the last couple of times we have been their to buy hot "fresh" food we have been terribly disappointed. But we go now and then to give them a second chance but sadly the the food always taste old, stale, no flavor, or to much nerves or fat. Today I could tell my chicharon was old and stale. Gonzales market please clean this up, I want to come back and buy what was once your delicious hot food products.

I went here a couple of times the staff is so rude the cashiers they are so rude When they scanned my things she doubled scanned one of my items.I recommend to not go there it's a waste of time.

Wow, not coming here again. The Parking sucks. If you have anything bigger than a Honda Civic, you are going to have a hard time finding a parking spot where you wont have to worry about your car being nicked or dinged. I was told Northgate had some good food in the Deli section, so I thought I would try it out. I got to the deli section and was helped by the Wicked Witch of the East named Mirna. This lady was very rude, almost as if I was bothering her. I asked to speak with the "manager", This guy named Eddy, helped me out and was just as bad as The Wicked Witch. This guy was rude and with a very bad attitude. Definitely won't be shopping here again. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Ok so let me tell you why I won't be shopping here anymore... I don't even come here for pan dulce anymore... a couple of weeks ago I came in with the intention to purchase carnitas...when I got to the counter I noticed that there was only bits and pieces left..I was told that in 30 minutes a fresh batch would be ready..thinking that i was lucky to get some fresh carnitas i decided to wait, after all I was next in line to receive carnitas because all the employees knew I was waiting.. about 25 minutes later a customer comes in as I waiting at the food counter... I asked the employees if the carnitas are close to be ready and they tell me 10 more minutes... This customer that walked in, heard and asked if he could have some carnitas and quickly got 2 pounds fresh from the stove!! Now either one of two things happened here...I was being made to wait on purpose for some reason or they gave this guy raw carnitas..When I asked mwhy he got 2 pounds right away, the employee responded that's how he wanted them.. now like I said were they hating on me, which I don't know why because I was patiently waiting.. Or did they have this guy raw pork.. Seeing this happen in front of my eyes, I was pissed nonetheless!!! I couldn't believe how rude they were... as a Latino who enjoys going into stores like this because it reminds me of being a kid traveling to Mexico, I have to say I'm pretty disappointed... never again.. I know it doesn't mean much to Northgate to lose my families patronage but you guys have a lot to learn... too bad...

I read that Northgate Markets were going to open early from 7:30 to 8 am specifically for seniors to shop. This didn't happen at this store today. It did happen in their La Habra store and people were very pleased. Will this store at some point do this?
