Google
I liked the place, a good option to get Mexican groceries. I think they could have a larger variety of products including cheese and better quality corn tortillas (the tortillas de harina are very good tho). Also the section of vegetables is good and fresh…. their sweet bread section is also nice. I will recommend the place and they have parking, which considering the area, it’s very convenient.

Never go here . Every time I walk inside, my stomach is so nauseous. I thought it was just me, but I had bought their meat on New Year’s, and it was totally rotten. I would never step foot in this place ever again.

Jasmine Vasquez

Google
Terrible meat my partner bought meat here & the meat was all brown. Very disrespectful that the meat smelled & was discolored yet still had they audacity to be sold to us. We are to reclaim and we try to get an exchange to meet however we saw that all the meat was bad and the manager is well aware as well hopefully things will be different in the future.

Google
A huge, clean, easy-to-navigate AND PARK westside market with Mexican and Latin specialties (including the block of lard below!). Ready-to-go rotisserie chicken, taco specials and tamales show what the dishes should taste like. Prices are competitive, with specials, but not cheapest in town by any means.

Google
I really appreciate the whole Management and employees for their patience, courteous, and hard workers! I apologize for being short on $$$$$ and will for now on be frugal and have enough $$$$. Sincerely, Edward E. Rodriguez

Google
TERRIBLE customer service!!! Absolutely the worst!!! If you want to go somewhere to shop and get angry because the staff is disrespectful go here

Sandra Simmons

Google
Hot bolillos, many varieties of hot and fresh tamales, prepared masa, piñatas, every possible dried pepper you could want, fresh tortillas, fresh produce, beautifully maintained store with friendly employees. We are here visiting from Atlanta, I sure wish we could take this store home with us!

Robson Bratio

Google
Disorganized parking, products with very high prices

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Latino markets in Ktown. They always have super fresh produce and their bakery is always stocked with fresh pan Dulce and cakes to pick up and go or to put in an order. Towards the back they have a hot food bar that you can order a plate to go or buy hot made food by the bulk. Their aguas frescas and tamales are always a hit with my family. The people at the registers are sometimes rude . They are more interested in their own conversations or being on their phones than to engage with the customer in front of them. Which isn't a huge deal to me but it is kinda rude.

Minelie A.

Yelp
Super Clean, Super organized and well prepared store with vast variety of traditional hand made kitchen supplies. The employees were super friendly and they were doing great job with the customer service. Definitely this is place that I do suggest to try. Also, great place for great souvenirs!!!

Jose C.

Yelp
Disappointed, expensive piece of meat but at the same time a threat to the health of my family. Disgusting cow blood between the meat.

Aida C.

Yelp
Great market to get all your Mexican merch for your tamales and good ol Mexican flavors. They have a great variety of ready to eat tamales, pork, chicken, beef, chile, and sweet tamales. We drove from the San Fernando Valley to get our tamale maza. Found all the food items we needed. However, not too many sale items so a bit pricy for Mexican items but everything you need. Good bread, tamales, aguas frescas, and tortillas. Probably will only go once a year. Too far to drive to not get good discounts.

M C.

Yelp
I use to swing by when in the area to buy concha pan for years. Half the time they were sold out. Now that they raised the "bread" concha for 99c each they are never sold out and today I bought only 4 for my workers instead of the dozen I use to buy and they were NOT FRESH and I am her by 8:00 am. Thanks for ruining a good thing. I noticed some prices are more than Trader Joe's, basic stuff. Well you lost a customer because the concha brought me in and the concha took me out

Luis O.

Yelp
I go to this store often but on my most recent visits I can't stand the bad smell around areas of the store it's unbearable. The foods expensive but the service is not as good as before.

Richard S.

Yelp
MEAT DEPT RIPS YOU OFF. I llove their T bone steak, however I have always been suspicious of over charging. I asked for a T bone today and label said it was 2lbs. No way, I went to produce department and weighted ONLY ONE POUND.

M. M.

Yelp
Very disturbing bathroom, nice staff but they said you have to use the bathroom outside and this was what was in there.

Yelp
Looking for the best tamales in town near downtown Los Angeles. The team did not score their tamales high- not enough meat, too much masa and dry.

Spicy E.

Yelp
Well organized grocery store. Fresh bread fresh cakes fresh meat and even a deli here! A little far from home but definitely worth the trip

Richard O.

Yelp
Tepachito is a relatively new Mexican Soda. It's actually Pineapple cider, but it's fermented and brewed like beer. The taste almost seems alcoholic, but it's sweet. I first had it at a house party over the weekend, and my friend told me he bought it at Northgate markets. I was craving Tepachito, so I went to all the local Mexican supermarkets and none of them had it. I yelped the closest Northgate market, and this location in Koreatown showed up. I came here this morning and bought the last 2 Tepachito and also bought some Malta Goya. You can find Malta Goya anywhere (even Ralphs).

Meli R.

Yelp

Michael S.

Yelp
They have all your Mexican food needs! Their ceviche is pretty great too. They have pretty fresh meats and fish too

Jennifer P.

Yelp
I love this place, besides it being the only large market who Employee's everyone who speaks spanish it has the best chicharrón in my area. I always get a burrito of chicharrón. Employee's are always helpful. Anything I need to find from my latino culture I will find here..

Ramon M.

Yelp
Huge market for hard to find spices not sold in my area, service is okay. A bit too chaotic.

Rasheeta F.

Yelp
Ok great deals on things like burro bananas, and seeded grapes. Alkaline Vegan friendly.

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
Look, it's a Latinx supermarket. Come here for your tamales, sweet bread, and condiments, etc. Check your fruit and veggies b/c you may find some produce that's a bit molded but I've had this happen at Hmart and literally other supermarkets. Just more of a caution than anything.

Johnny L.

Yelp
Meat area there is one guy so lazy working as f.... waking around singing when u see a big line waiting . Poor customer service

Tracy M.

Yelp
I've shopped there for awhile for my groceries. I went there in February 10th about 11:40am. The associate there offered to book me a lyft ride even though I didn't meet the new required minimum. it used to be only $50 for a Lyft ride, now it's $75. Unfortunately, I waited for about an hour for the Lyft ride. A driver kept picking up and then cancelling. The associate tried 4-5 times to rebook the Lyft ride because it kept timing out and couldn't find a driver. While waiting I asked if I could swap my cold stuff for fresher cold items, which they did. a driver still wouldn't pick up though so I ended up carrying my bags of groceries home. I understand it's not the stores fault. It just kinda sucks that it happened and they raised the Lyft minimum.

Jullian L.

Yelp
I'm a community member and I'm boycotting this market due to their disregard for the community. They allow homeless encampments build on their property and do not do anything to address it. I'll be going to the food4less across the street. It's also expensive and disorganized inside.

Franco L.

Yelp
This is a great place located in the heart of LA. They have all your Hispanic favorites from tamales to salsas. The location has ample parking, service is friendly, the market is clean and the prices are great. This is a hard to find large Hispanic market in the mid city. I'll see you there.

Maylen M.

Yelp
I love going there because all the produce there is always so nice and fresh! And I go there at least 3 times a week! However today I went to buy for 4th of July cook out weekend and the cashier was super rude !!! I went with my daughter and we were buying beer and groceries and she saw the bill was a little over $100 and she gave me $100 for groceries and the lady thought it was for beer so she was asking for her ID And I clearly told her she wasn't buying the beer I was and I'd show her my ID! And she's like no and then I told her if u want take out the beer since she didn't wanna take my ID And she was super rude about it so I left!! I've loved this place until now! Honestly that's the bad thing about corporations they don't care about customer service since they have soo many!! Small markets are definitely better

Hazel M.

Yelp
Their store brand salsas taste really good. It is perfect for taco night at home. I usually buy the Salsa Taquera - Zesty Salsa. It is quite spicy but it goes well with carne asada tacos! They also have agua fresca in the deli section. I highly recommend watermelon and pineapple with spinach. It is very refreshing and hydrating on a hot day.

Emmanuel S.

Yelp
Store is a mess 9am in the morning.... Lot of boxes everywhere... Employees texting in the middle of the way

Karina R.

Yelp
This store's security falsely accused my disabled dad of stealing, forcing him to expose his heavily scarred abdomen. Looked down on him but never apologized for the "error" when proper procedures should have been taken before making assumptions and accusing a weak, disabled man in front of the public.

Ms L.

Yelp
I love their bread. It is one of the best bread stores. Their bread is fresh and top notch. I love the covid safety there is one person serving your bread so no one else touches it. So in the safety area they are good. You can also find pottery like wow! Helping the small pottery communities out there.

Yelp
I was looking for some Latin products and found this place on Yelp. Since it was a Thursday after the parking lot and supermarket was pretty empty so it made my shopping experience great. The minute I walked in I went to the bakery section and got some pastries since they smelled delicious. I got some fried pork belly since it looked really good and who wants to make that at home. As I walked around I got other Latin products that it's not so easy to find in other markets. I really enjoyed their fresh salsa section but be careful some of those salsas are super spicy which I learned the hard way. I wasn't too thrill with their butcher selections and the meat didn't look all that great to me but I got everything I came here for which made me very happy.

Leo H.

Yelp
It's not the first time that I find products Expired in this grocery store. If you come here please always check the expiration date. I Found 8 of these, all Expired!

MIchael J.

Yelp
I went here on Sunday , waited in long line for cooked food , the chicken is great ! When it was my turn , the staff would not help me . In fact , they acted like I was not even standing right in front of them . Totally ignored me . To add insult, they helped the guy -enthusiastically, who came in behind me . Soooooo, in my original review I said if you are Caucasian do not bother . Apparently YELP felt that was not sufficient . Is this specific enough ? I would like to point out I am a native Angeleno, my family has lived in the area for a very long time . I trade with businesses all over the Pico Union . I just will not bother with Northgate .

Jdka D.

Yelp
Store is good -- reminds me of home. But it isn't the cleanest -- and the checkout personnel could not be any ruder. Perhaps management should give some lessons in etiquette and how to treat customers. This is the third time the check out person hasn't finished -- and last time, I bought a clay baker and the woman broke it.

Edwin S.

Yelp
I do fell bad for other customers but the customer service here at this store has tremendously went down I can't even imagine explaining the rudeness of the managers talking bad behind customers backs even arguing with some, I thought they were to lead by example but there on their cell phones to much and makes me wonder why some other cashiers are also on their phone constantly while working and i seen a manager mocking some customers who don't know some of the language in the store, but even worse they leave there position all the time I have went in and needed an item from isle 6 cause its locked behind a glass case I ask for help no one could come waited in line even and did a whole transaction but before I paid I again asked for an item at isle 6 the cashier told me to wait as she went and looked for a manager cause no one in the front-end had a key, 10 min of waiting, a long line and people frustrated as I was unintentionally holding the line waiting for the item, why doesn't all cashiers have the key it would make things very convenient for everyone who asks for items behind the glass but no thats not the case, just horrible.

Yelp
My mom drove all the way from Pasadena to visit this store early today, Tuesday 3/17, to take advantage of the special early opening for seniors but she was turned away by some large guy at the door who said they were not opening early. So sadly she left without groceries. But I messaged the store on Instagram and Hector called me right away and was able to send the groceries that my mom needed. He went above and beyond to "right" the situation and I'm so thankful to him and his team! I have never visited this location but I plan to now. :)

Ashtar B.

Yelp
Came here by recommendation from a friend of mine. They have a lot of great options if you want to cook Mexican food. Produce was pretty reasonably priced and they had prepared foods in the back like tamales and such. Meat counter had good prices but was a bit disorganized. The aisles are very narrow and people kind of leave carts everywhere so navigating around on a busy weekend afternoon was pretty chaotic. But overall decent selection and prices. Pro tip: their house made chips and salsas are amazing!

Nikola L.

Yelp
I bought 2 dozens of tamales here two days ago they were different kinds. Cheese ,pork, chicken and strawberry my wife and I eat different from that assortment and we both got sick with diarrhea in fact we are stiysick until now that's is why I am posting this ! I wouldn't recommend to but an Neal from here !

Margorie S.

Yelp
Horrible customer service, starting from the dude called "Manager" he has no manners or education, he passes by in front of people without saying excuse me, moves carts in the same way. aggresively, pushing people without apologizing or saying anything, having conversations all the time with employees, not caring at all about customer service. I found a cheese with mold in the food section area! Umbelievable, instead of "chillin" with co-workers, this dude should go and do his job right. Every timd I go there, is the same thing and now I know where the bad attitude of employees come from! Because every single employee here is rude and unprofessional. Not going back to this store anymore!

Terry M.

Yelp
Bought a fresh chicken and chicken legs came home cooked it and it was rotten now imagine this store is selling rotten meat called the store manager was very rude! I do not recommend this store never again will I shop here they deserve zero stars

Grace Y.

Yelp
After helping my bf move to a new apartment, we stopped by this market to get some food since everyone (5 guys + 2 girls) got hungry~ We bought: - barbacoa (1 lb) - sooooo gooooood. - tripas (1 lb) - kinda chewy and a bit dry but it was still good - some pork dish (1.5 lb) - I forget what it was called.. but it was good! - pack of corn tortillas (80 count) - queso fresco - guacamole - omg so yummmm x] Total: $30 Pretty good for a meal for 7 adults right? :] All the workers here were friendly and there's plenty of parking space here. :] I've tried their carne asada here but it's really bland.. we had to spice it up with our own spices (cumin, chili powder, lime juice, etc.) I love Mexican food x3 teehehe.

Karla G.

Yelp
I love the market it's really clean and organized. Fresh foods everyday. I love the gorditas. Reason why I'm giving 1 star on this store is because every time I go there the cashiers always make a mistake. Well today was Lisbeth with a long face cashing me out like I was going to leave without paying. I work for customer service and Try to make people's day as happy as I can. I want this to be taken care, your business is loosing customers because of unfriendly employees that doesn't want to be there.

Emily S.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of the Northgate Supermarkets. This one, is newly opened. It used to be some other store here, maybe a 99 cents store.. and before that, some kind of Korean store. I like this place, because their parking lot is pretty big, and parking is easy to find. It's big and it's clean. What I don't like about this place is they don't have as much of a selection as some that I've been to. There isn't even any ceviche. Well, there was only one kind, as opposed to 5 or 6 varieties. I don't remember if they had a place where you can get fresh cut deli ham. They had marinated meats, pork chops, chicken, asada. I haven't made the chicken yet to see if it's good or not. The Rotisserie Chicken was too salty. Their refried beans were dry. They actually turned black and hard under the heat lamps. Didn't get those. They also had a lady at the front, making the corn with mayo, cheese, and all that other stuff. I don't believe I've seen this at other Northgate Supermarkets. We bought one but it was not very good. I spit out my first bite, and didn't go back for seconds.

Gino E.

Yelp
Being always on the look out for places near the office that won't give me e.coli (aka, CHORRO), I decided to check out the mini food stand at Northgate, after having a co-worker not shut up about it all of last week. And I was able to see why that was. The $4 breakfast special I ordered included about a pound of food, and a drink! Ham and eggs, chilaquiles with creama, beans with cotija cheese, a couple chunks of panela cheese, and rice (see photo)! It took me about a 1.5 hour time span to finsh it all, which followed an awesome food coma. I was honestly surprised how delicious EVERYTHING was (asides from the rice being a bit too dry), especially for $4! Asides from the breakfast plates, they also have the usual tacos, sopes, tortas, etc, which I will definitely going back to try. Northgate has definitely become my favorite Mexican food spot in the area, which I have been searching for, for the past year. Definitely one of those out-of-the-way spots you should hit, when you're low on funds, lazy to cook, and in the mood for some authentic Mexican food. Word of caution to those driving lowered cars though. Beware the MASSIVE hump in their parking lot. Don't ask me how I know. Shut up...

Jason V.

Yelp
Great Market with excellent prices. High quality produce and other specialties. I love the salsas.

Stefanny B.

Yelp
I love this market because of their deals on beer the fruit and veggies are fresh. It can be more organized specially the beer. I'm giving two stars because of the customer service the cashier was just talking with the guy bagging. The guy also almost push the cart on me and didn't even apologize. Then he switch my cart without even telling me. What a bad experience I will not come back.

Jasmine L.

Yelp
TERRIBLE!!! This is the worst northgate ive been too. Very disorganized with rude staff. i went there to get a few groceries and get a quick taco plate but the woman was making it such a big deal about selling a taco plate for some reason... how hard is it to put meat and tortilla on a plate ? It's on their menu! She was super rude and unprofessional. Tacos were gross and covered with lard by the way, couldn't even finish them... super tight in this store too. You have to like strategically move around the store so you don't get stuck in an aisle or tight space. Terrible place, not worth your money. Save your business and drive an extra few miles to another north gate, this one sucks

Luciano R.

Yelp
My Whole Review is going to be base on a Simple coupon employees don't know how to Respond to an Expired Coupon...they don't know or haven't been told about the cost related to advertising and the economical cost that involved bringing customers In Radio adds Expensive..TV Super Expensive.. Printed Pieces Expensive Social Media too many Loop Holes.. Word Of Mouth Very Sensitive and the Most Effective... Today Northgate Gonzalez Market in 2323 W Olympic Blvd in Downtown Los Angeles total Failure...Employees Didn't Honor An Expired Coupon they Just Forgot It and Rejected the Most Important Part of A Business (the Costumer)

Nubia O.

Yelp
This market is one of the best markets in the area. They have great selections of products including fresh produce, fruits, meat, baked goods, pre cooked meals, national and international cooking products etc. They even have a food truck outside that every time I passed by I see these yummy looking roasted chicken (note to self: I still got to try it) anyway back to my review. The people working here are extremely helpful and nice. There's always someone walking around if you need help finding certain stuff. Place is always clean and kind of busy at times because prices are fairly affordable; and the capacious of the parking lot is just perfect! I am a fan of this market! My family and I love it!

Connie T.

Yelp
I loved finding this market! I came here on the tip of a random couple I sat next to on the plane. As they promised, Northgate has fresh, in-shell garbanzo beans, and a ton of other great produce for very low prices. The produce area has a large variety of items you don't see at your typical grocery store, like cactus, spiny chayote, squash blossoms and the biggest papayas I have ever seen. And, at such good prices - no bourgie mark-up for hard to find things. There is an extensive bakery area, and hot foods (we got some tasty, freshly made chicharrones). In addition to your standard raw meat selections, there are many pre-seasoned items (fresh chorizo!) and cheeses that appear to have been made on-site. The market is well-kept and clean. I will definitely be back.

Rebecca D.

Yelp
I had been to the La Puente store several times, but today went here for the first time. It's smaller and brighter than La Puente and had a much shorter line for the take out. Got a paquette (family meal) for $14.99 that had plenty of carnitas, a rockin' hot red salsa, frijoles, rice, tortillas and a free jug of horchata for today's special. I also got some plantanos (plantains) and they were just as good as any Cuban restaurant. Vegetables and fruits looked fresh and well-priced. Look forward to coming back again soon!

Mayra L.

Yelp
No the best customer service is all I have to say. But they do have the closest authentic sweet corn tamales. This is the only reason why I would come back.
