DOPE!! Awesome, wonderful staff. Great food! I mean really fackin' good! Friendly, fun clientele. A lovely venue. They have really good live music and a great atmosphere. It has become one of my favourite places.

Was in the area for lunch and stumbled upon this gem. The tavern itself is pretty big inside with a ton of TV's, I asked the hostess when they closed on weekends and she said 1:30am - that's awesome. The beer list was solid, if you like IPA's the Society Pupil was very good. I got a bacon cheeseburger which was extremely filling and tasty. I'll definitely be back soon, fun spot!

Nice chilled hangout place. Glad it was recommended to me by a coworker who loved the southwest burger. He also said the Pazoles are yummy as well. Been here a few times myself and the burgers are delicious and never a disappointment. Taco Tuesday deal are great as well. Nice size Tacos and everything cooked just right. If you don't like your Tacos saucy as for sauce on the side. My friend and his gal would come in the morning before 9 or 10 I can't remember but it's like half off breakfast and they love coming for their $8 breakfast burritos. The staff are awesome 👌 before I had to look for anyone to get me another beer all of a sudden my waiter is already there reading my mind would you like another beer? Oh yeah 😎 and it's poured correctly up to the rim not getting cheated. 3 to 7pm is happy hour and some place would serve you water down drinks cause it's happy hour price but not here. My margarita was strong and just right not to sugary. Love this place not far of a walk to the beach 😍 will be back to try more stuff off the menu but I can't resist going for the burgers again

Highly recommend Mothers in OB, San Diego. Must of had at least 20 TVs to watch sports, the food was excellent, the best salads we've ever eaten, good prices & great service. Ordered the Baja Salad with chicken, substituted the cucumber and corn for the goat cheese, we also had the marinated chicken Caesar salad, both awesome. We also had the spinach artichoke dip in a fresh baked bread bowl with large Parmesan chips. Was a nice younger crowd, seemed like we were the oldest group of people there. Very friendly atmosphere.

The DJ, (Chris) Security(Wayne!) and Natalie made our time here the best! Happy anniversary to us! Thank you for the best vibes we've had in a while!

Great place in OB. Positives: good happy hour. Staff super friendly. Dog friendly in the patio. Cons: smoking on the patio. I got the blue cheese and bacon burger with tots. Probably the best tots on SD. Crispy. You can hear the crunch when you take a bite. Would definitely go back.

Working our way to Mike Hess and City Tacos in OB, we stopped for a pitstop at Northside Tavern. Super chill, dog-friendly bar. A few pool tables, tons of TVs and a great patio. The last couple of times we've been to Northside they've seemed to be understaffed. On this Saturday afternoon there was one bartender working. She was bartender, table busser, food runner and server all at once. We patiently waited at the bar to order drinks while she ran around taking care of business. Just one and done. Hunger started setting in. While Northside Tavern food is really good, we already had designs on City Tacos.

I like this place. It has good live music & food! It's a nice locals spot! Wayne, the bouncer, is great as well! I will definitely be back. Keep on keeping on

Excellent service - laid back yet attentive. We had a pulled pork sandwich, which was excellent. Quick order turn around. Chill atmosphere. Pool tables inside, clean bathrooms, indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside in the shade and enjoyed a break in a busy day. We will definitely be back.

Great happy hour specials post volleyball game! $10 pitchers and taco specials were a go for the evening. We tried the chicken tacos, the shrimp tacos, and fries and all were good bar food. Service was excellent, even when some issues with our order came up, they were professional and let us know what to expect!

Northside Tavern is a sleeper for great food in OB! The ahi salad is so fresh, and the wasabi dressing on it has the perfect combination of tangy and creamy. Wings are hot and crispy and served with plenty of ranch. The chips with salsa & queso hits the spot. The bar was lively, and there are high tops and booths as well as a huge patio. Sports are on TV and there is pool to be played as well. Service is great - friendly and fantastic. My water glass was never empty during the entire meal and we were checked on several times to be sure we had everything we needed. Go for a beer and stay for a meal!

Checked out this spot this week and their happy hour is great! We got the nachos, mac n cheese, and chicken tenders plus two beers for $50. Not a bad deal! And they were all really good especially the mac & cheese. Friendly service, big patio, pool tables, and a good relaxed vibe. We will be back!

Northside Tavern has really come up !! Have you seen how beautiful it looks all remodeled and cute now ?? There's a sweet patio and pool tables in there and they got a whole ass menu now !! I come around here on Tuesdays sometimes to visit Sherra at the bar and eat some tacos and it's just an all around win. The tacos are juicy and delish, service is amazing and it gets a nice little breeze through the windows that really hits nice during happy hour times ;) I honestly originally came for Sherra only but I stayed for the remodel and new food menu! :)

After a long day at dog beach the gang was hungry and this was the closest open spot. First time here and we didn't know the servers don't come to your table. PSA: you put in your order at the bar and it will be brought to you. I ordered the chicken parmigiana and I was gagged when I saw how big the meal was. And good thing bc I was starved. It was so yummy and the tater tots that we got as an app were also great. It did have some bacon in it too but I just stool to the cheesy ones. Will come back again next time, the portions were big and reasonably priced.

This is only a review based on sports. Please for the love of god stop calling yourself a sports bar. You only play padres games, where here we are in April hockey playoffs basketball playoffs and test you wanna show only padres baseball... so I guess you guys no nothing about sports there are 162 games in baseball season. Holy Pozole!!! This past weekend I stopped by Northside Tavern to try their Pozole. It's a red pork stew with a bunch of toppings and chips. This meal comes with the bowl of goodness and another large tray of toppings so you can create your own masterpiece. Once I dug into the hot stew, every single bite was really flavorful and warmed my soul. I sat on their outdoor patio people watching and this polzole was the perfect meal for a sunny but chilly day. It's was a big bowl of food and I was able to take some home with me to enjoy at a later time. I'm most likely going back for seconds later this week. This will be a go to staple for me at Northside Tavern.

We tried this place after reading some good reviews and the food was pretty good EXCEPT we found a long hair mixed in with our eggs...GROSS!! Needless to say this turned us off and we were not able to eat our meal. We waited for a very long time to speak to someone about our issue but they were really understaffed so we just decided to leave. After asking around our OB friends we learned that this wasn't the first time hair has been found in food there...so we are taking this place off our OB recommendations.

I've been coming here for a while. It's always good energy here. It's definitely a great place to watch games & fights with friends. Thanks to Wayne, service is fast and friendly. The fish and chips are so good! They're really fresh and really tasty! I will be back for more!

Tried to take in a football Sunday here and asked for a tv that wasn't playing anything to be put on a specific game. The security guards who were changing the channels were HUGE dicks to us for daring to talk to them. They had TVs playing The Chive instead of football. Go figure. Won't be coming back.

This is literally cheers if it was in a beach town. The bartender made sure I got in on happy hour (I rarely make it) The service tests patience a little bit but the personable tending more than makes up for it. The food was run of the mill bar food no frills but honestly when it's Friday all most folk want is a night off from the kitchen. Some sliders and a beer is enough for me. I got beer and a meal for 20 bucks in San Diego that's alright by me!! I've been exploring all the local dives and this spot with the Billiards tables, tv's, and plenty nuff menu will have me back at some point. Also the Juke had everything from Michael Jackson to Blink 182 so the atmosphere is broad enough!!

Northside tavern is a great spot to hang out. They have a pretty great selection of whiskeys and tequilas and pour pretty heavy for very reasonable prices. The food keeps everything smelling good throughout the bar. Security and bar tenders are always down to chat and recognize regular faces. You can usually get a pool table easily during off times and you can usually find a place to sit. Great place to watch a game!

Went up to the bar to order, and the bartender (who had a security shirt on?) was beyond respectful, slamming menus in front of me when I asked to see one. After I ordered, he came up to my friend, who I said was on my tab, and my friend ordered. He said "holy f***" right in front of us and despairingly made the drink. I've never felt the need to write a review before, but oh my. Service was horrible. I even told another bartender walking by about the service and she dismissed it as being a "busy day". Not okay.

We chose this place to do our final Friday happy hour for the Point Loma Yacht Club Sabrina was the bartender on duty, and very accommodating and attentive, and easy on the eyes. You got a great selection of beers on tap as well as tequilas and mezcal. The food is excellent compared to most divy sports bars. It came out hot crisp and delicious. We will definitely be going back.

As a first timer to this newly renovated, super spacious, and amazing sports orientated establishment, i am very impressed on the openness, beer/alcohol selection, and the food menu is pretty on point for this type of establishment. Very impressed with this newish Pub. For the critical and ever necessary service and bar staff. I have had nothing but the utmost respect and amazing energy since i walked through the door. Everyone took their respective job seriously and with professionalism. Never had to wait for a re-pour, giving me available options along the process, very caring and respectful to the client.. Who ever left a negative review of this place, surely must have been coerced, as i never once saw or ran into any of these issues or problems.. J would for sure lead a horse to this water, just hope they take the action to walk inside, and see how comforting the water is!!

Completely unacceptable service. After waiting 15 minutes to order a draft beer with a half full bar, I was already a little bothered. No big deal, sometimes bartenders get behind. About an hour later I put in a food order for a single fried fish taco when things settled down a bit. Bartender asked if I wanted it to go, I said I was outside and wanted it here, he gave me an order stand with a number on it. About a half hour went by and I went up to the bar to ask about my order. The bartender was having a conversation with a customer so I walked away after standing there about 5 minutes staring straight at him. I was keeping an eye on the food window and saw a couple to go orders sitting there. I hailed down the food runner and asked about my order, she asked if I had placed one and showed her the order stand. 40 minutes to get a single taco that sat in the window for what I imagine was 15 minutes. I opened up the to go container and the taco was a mess and the filet was barely even on the taco shell. The toppings were everywhere. Unacceptable. I want to give 1 stars, but I'll give 2 because but I'm trying to be patient with a local business in the town I love most.

Great little bar around the corner from dog beach. The food is really exceptional for bar food. We went on a Saturday night and it was loud and crowded but we were able to get a table outside and catch up with friends over tasty/straightforward drinks and nachos so big they should have their our postal code! It was a little chilly and we asked one of the bartenders if we get the heater turned on. He was super friendly and quickly came out and made our stay more comfortable. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a traditional beach/bar vibe.

This is a great spot to relax with friends off the crowded tourist path. The parking lot has been transformed into a sunny patio. I think the Bloody Mary is $7 which is a great deal. The former chef has returned and today I had a great Buffalo chicken philly - it was big enough to share! Sabrina hooked it up and made me a custom order with mushrooms. Definitely a locals spot, but they have a good thing going and we will be back!

We waited a short time for someone to greet us and show us a table on the patio. There were only about 6 people in the place. The security guard walked slowly to us and looked half asleep. Food was good. The cocktails and the bartender (lady) was very friendly and made awesome cocktails.

Terrible service. Asked for a tv changed and the security guys had bad sms. Was mad he couldn't find the channel for a raiders game when a tv already had it playing. Got mad when I pointed that out and told me to F off basically and talk to someone else. Took 3 guys 20min to find a game that was already playing on another tv... Just a really dumb and sensitive male staff.

First off..go 49ers!! It was great to see a 49ers bar in so cal. Second. I lost my note of our bartenders name. She was amazing. Visiting from AZ. I used to come often to OB and Sabrina and Jay were amazing at Lucy's. Pandemic hit. And it's my first time back since 2019. My boyfriend and I came in Wednesday 6/29 around 3 and after having horrible service our entire stay at other establishments. We were beyond grateful for the blonde bartender that was working. She was instantly engaging and friendly. She changed our opinion of the OB industry staff completely. You could tell she took pride in her job and wanted to give everyone a great experience. I was not a huge fan of the previous bar "Mother's." The new owners did an amazing job on the remodel and staffing. My only criticism is there isn't enough 49ers stuff :)

Yessss! Northside Tavern is the bomb! Sabrina and her team have been in the industry a long time and they know what they're doing! They bought this place during COVID and despite some huge setbacks (umm.. a fire), they've managed to turn it into a phenomenal joint! I love the openness of it, and the specials, on top of the already amazing prices, literally cannot be beat! The staff are so welcoming and friendly, even for people like me, who aren't regulars (sorry, I have 3 kids and don't get out much), which isn't always the case for some dive bars. So happy to see a great spot like this in town, and they deserve so much success!

Sabrina is amazing and made my holiday trip better than I could have asked for. Absolutely recommend!!!!

Came in for Sunday Football and got the loaded fries with Carne Asada! Our server Madison was amazing and the energy was awesome. If you're looking for a good spot for food or just to watch the game, this place is it! Lots of TVs, ocean breeze, and great food and drinks. What else could you want?!

This place is amazing, I came in for the first time and ordered the ahi poke and Sheena and Sabrina were on point serving me quick with a smile! I even tasted a neighbors food that was raving about the sliders, what a great place!!!

This place is a solid spot to eat, ordering over the phone isn't easy though. when they answer the phone all you hear is static after about 4 seconds. Also sometimes you have to call multiple times just to get through. I'd eat here more if it wasn't so inconvenient to call in orders. If you see the lady in the pink hat behind the kitchen I'd definitely order some food.

Demi was a delightful bartender and made my stay in San Diego fantastic shout out to the bartender who made my cosmopolitan it was delicious

Fun place to watch a game. The younger blonde bartender was completely rude. I had let her know that I was charged for 2 of the same drink, she shrugged me off and responded with a rude remark when I brought it to her attention. Never got a refund, figured it was too much trouble over $12. I wish that bars spent time hiring better employees, especially when they're making hundreds of dollars in tips every night.

Absolutely the best staff in town. Huge food selection - try the pozole, everyone raves about it. Wonderful outside tables where you can bring dogs, and a small-town feel bar inside.

Glad this place is back. It was good as mothers but I think it's better now especially since the fire. They hired a great bartender in Demi. She's a sweetheart and a great bartender. I tried the hotdog and fries and it was amazing. Hotdog is huge and the fries are perfectly seasoned and crispy. Drinks are great. The place gets 4 stars but because they have Demi, it's an automatic 5 stars.

Awesome place - owners (Sabrina & Jay) are the best. Good local spot to relax and shoot some pool. Drinks are strong and the crowd is mostly locals. The original layout changed and was remodeled due to fire damage. The owners are there every day and they really care about their business and people. This place is a melting pot of different age groups so regardless of your age bracket you'll feel welcome.

Went on a lovely Saturday afternoon with some friends... there was one female bartender and the kitchen staff working. Probably around 10 patrons in total throughout the entire place everyone was happy having a good time. The moment one security team member started his shift he was cussing at all groups including ours. Just ruined the entire good atmosphere the moment he clocked in. Lots of patrons left after he was rude to nearly every group. Definitely would have ordered more food and drinks if it wasn't for that employee. I'm sure others felt the same and that's why they left. Hope he can get over whatever made him so upset and not take it out on his customers moving forward.

Glad to see Northside back up and running, everything is so new and clean. Now that the kitchen is open again, I'm looking forward to seeing what they put on the menu. It's my understanding that they currently have a tentative smaller menu inorder to work out the kinks. Love the new owners, they are very welcoming and friendly.

Finally made it to The North Side Tavern! Love, love love what they did with this place!!! Decor is great, service is well above reproach and the vibe is awesome! You would be doing yourself a disservice if you don't make your way here! Can't wait for the kitchen!

I had to give it a two star even though the bartenders are five stars. One thing I couldn't tolerate was seeing what A bully the security staff was. Totally unwarranted. He yelled at some old guy who misunderstood where he was told he could park his bike on an empty part of the patio. Why hire someone so mean and disrespectful?

Cheapest Drinks in town and great staff and customers that are mostly from the service industry.

Love this place and now that they have food, even better!!!! The owner Sabrina is a scrappy little sweetheart!
