I got the catfish platter with yams, cabbage, and an additional side of Mac and cheese. It was all good! .... It's kind of expensive though (my total was $30). But I will definitely come back the next time I'm craving soul food.

Food was excellent and worth every penny ! Service was exceptional, she was kind and attentive my family . Glad to see a Black owned company taking hold on that building and making something for us out here ! Food was hot . Place was clean, any post saying otherwise is hating ! My experience was great ! Wish they open earlier or did something breakfast ! On my way! For 2nd visit today !

I wanted to like this place and support them. It did not look open, it was dark and there were no customers inside. I had the chicken (breast and wing) it had no flavor and the breast was dry. The Mac and cheese was horrible, it looked and tasted like it came from a box and they just maybe added a little bit of real cheese. The greens were cooked well but lacked flavor. The cornbread did not taste fresh and was dry too. I asked for salt because I needed something to help the meal but the very young green eyed male (not sure if he was the cook) came from the back and said they didn’t have salt. Maybe it’s hit or miss because I have had people tell me that it was good.

When I initially drove up I thought the place was closed. When you walk inside the restaurant it looked closed. It was dark and the soda machines looked broken and abandoned. Finally someone came out and took my order. Although it was only 6:00 and they don't close until 7, she said the dining room was closed. The fried chicken was undercooked, the macaroni and cheese was disgusting. It had tons of what looked like red paprika dumped all over it. Hardly any cheese. The yams were bland. The cornbread dry. Food took about 20 minutes. I wont be returning.

I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. I really wanted it to be good. I had the chicken the breading on chicken was strange and had no taste. Greens taste like they came from the can. Gravy, no taste needs season. The best part was the yams and peach cobbler, but even the yams tasted like they came from the can and got dressed up. Maybe if I had tried something different.

This was my spot but I gotta give em 3 stars because the prices are through the roof now. Price fone went up by like $6 buck on the same plates they were selling in December. I know we gotta change with the times but damn that's one hella of change. Back to Georgia's in Eastvale shame to because I gotta pass not your mamas to get there. I feel like black businesses always over charge and most of the time it be us doing the business with em. Smh do better people

We were in the area on vacation and decided to stop at this catchy name eatery. The experience could have been better. The online menu did not match the “daily” menu. We settled for 3 wings and a waffle, hot wings, Mac n cheese, greens and beans n rice. Our wait time was about 30 minutes before our food came out. The music selection was on point old school Sunday type of moms house music. The restaurant had an old basement smell that they seemed to try and hide the inside didn’t appear to be as clean as I would have imagined. I am not sure what annoyed me the most the dozens of flies buzzing around or the fact the waiter seemed to have many jobs while utilizing the same plastic gloves. The cornbread muffin was delicious. The chicken wings are jumbo and under cooked without seasoning. The greens were bland the Mac n cheese reminded me of KFC and the beans/rice was flavorful. Other than that the staff was friendly plenty of parking availability and the restaurant seems to get a lot of locals.

The food was really good and we got full. For the price I would say we got a decent amount of food. We got the shrimp poboy and let me tell you, that's the only place I will be going to get my poboys. For our sides we tried the Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and potato salad. And omg their Arnold Palmer is the bomb.

I ordered the chicken and waffles here. I was expecting some msg'd chicken and a salty/sweet buttery waffle similar Waffle House. This tasted completely different, it was pretty good. It required much more mature tastebuds. Perfectly fried big and fresh chicken wings and a waffle recipe I haven't had before, the flavors made a perfect combo. This is meal was wholesome.

Food was a 3.5/5. Cornbread was a bit too dry for my liking. Mac n cheese was a bit too salty. Fried chicken was good. Collard greens were just ok. Location and ambiance inside & out is a bit rugged. A place you'd want maybe once a year. Service was ok, not too friendly. Food was ready since we ordered it online. Good if you are looking for fried chicken and ok sides.

I have been craving some oxtail and was looking for a place that sold it. They're closed Monday through Wednesday and they take online orders on their website. I ordered on Sunday for a plate of oxtail which came with two sides and a cornbread muffin. I wanted to try their cabbage and their red beans and rice. The oxtail was piled on top of their rice and gravy. The four pieces of oxtail were soft and tender and easy to separate from the bone. The red beans and rice were nicely seasoned. The main thing was that the cabbage and gravy tasted super salty to me and my brother who tried my plate. The cabbage was cooked nicely and I can taste the bell peppers in it but super salty. The cornbread was moist. The wait time was not long. The place is clean.

Great food! Idk how they weren't busier when we went there. Everything down to the sides was delicious. Best damn Po' Boy I've had outside of someone's mama's kitchen. Thank y'all so much! 10/10 must try.

The food was excellent because it actually came out hot and fresh. The service was top-notch everyone very kind very friendly. I sent back an item and they took it back no attitude or anything which was surprising because that's what most establishments do when you're not happy with something and no fault of theirs. I am not a big fan of vinegar collard greens but my family is the ambience was nice. I would definitely recommend to patronize this business. I believe they're only open from Wednesday through Saturday or Sunday just double check the dates.

The food and service were EXCELLENT! The restaurant is huge with facilities to set up as a buffer but that is not in use. You order up front and seat yourself at tables inside only. The menu chicken and waffles, fried chicken plate Po boy, Turkey chop greens, cabbage , yams, red beans and rice and a few more items/plates. We ordered the Turkey chop dinner with greens and Mac and cheese and fried chicken plates (all wings) with cabbage and yams with a waffle to share. The waffle was soft and dense and it wasn't sweet. It was ok. The fried chicken plate was delicious. The wings are a good size, extra crispy and was cooked to perfection just like my great Aunie used to make! I could only finish two of the three and the sides. . The cabbage was . The yams were . They were not syrupy sweet. They were fresh and had flavor. The plates all come with a corn muffin. It was good. My dinner date ordered the Turkey chop plate with gravy on the side (he ordered another gravy to go because it was ). . He finished one of the two fried chops. He prefers pork chops to Turkey chops. He devoured the greens and Mac. He DRANK the juice from the greens. Yummy!!! He ended up adding a shrimp Po boy sandwich during the meal because he wanted to taste all of his faves. He loved the sand which. It's almost impossible to find a good, clean soul food restaurant with good food and service and I'm telling you they have it. The food was well seasoned and not overly seasoned. The cons for me would be that they don't have plates and silverware and glasses. Everything is served in styrofoam containers and they do not offer unsweetened iced tea or zero sugar fountain drinks or imitation sweetener for people with dietary restrictions. The food was so good, we were happy with water. This is a family owned and operated restaurant and they are passionate about their food and you can tell by how good it is!!! If you're in the area or heading to Palm Springs, pass thru and try their food. I believe you will love it! Gwen is an owner and she is a delight. They are very hospitable too. Yummy!!! Chefs kiss to Gwen and her family for offering good food!!!

Was looking to try some soul food near work. Located in a strip mall with plenty of parking and some shuttered businesses. Large restaurant, stand alone in middle of parking. Looks like might have been a buffet restaurant in past life. You order at front desk. There are tables and a tv inside but I ordered to go. Decided on the catfish plate that comes w two sides and added extra side. 6 pieces of fish but was too thin- parts tasted like chicharron bc was just crispy fried skin with their coating. I would prefer three thicker pieces. The collard greens were deliciously good- I could probably eat a large side by myself. Smoky with bits of pork, greens no butter and tender and a bit salty the way I like them. The yams were great, not overly sweet and w rich cinnamon taste. Mac n cheese and cornbread were ok. splurged and got dessert: peach cobbler was ok, needed a bit more sweetness. Food made to order. Took 20 min. Would go back and try their chicken. Not sure when they have oxtails.

This was pretty disappointing. We went out of our way to give this place a shot. We arrived around 2pm. There were a party of two leaving when we arrived and one other customer there while we were there but there's tons of seating. The "fresh" lemonade was not freshly squeezed. I'm not sure what it was other than way too sweet. Switched it out for sweet tea and that wasn't much better. I prefer more leaves in my collard greens and less stems. The candied yams were not candied at all - just plain sweet potatoes. The fried catfish and fried chicken were fried to order and very good. The shrimp po boy was huge. They just got a little carried away with pickles. Overall, the main dishes were good. The side dishes and the drinks were not my mama's kitchen.....

Was not disappointed. I highly recommend you give it a try. If you have eaten there, you have already gone back. Chicken was tasty, hot and moist. Waffle had good texture and flavor. Thanks for the service Gwen and staff. Brandon B.

Definitely not my Mama's kitchen ‍me and my husband bought food for ourselves and the family for the first time today everyone was disappointed! The chicken taste like it was fried in burnt grease the sides were very sloppy the food just looked like it was thrown together really quickly. Sorry we won't be going back oh and the woman that took our orders wasn't very pleasant either she had a slight attitude

The food was so delicious. My favorite was the mac & cheese and greens! Definitely recommend if you want some soul food in the area.

Do yourself a favor and COME ON DOWWWNNNNN. the food is absolutely AMAZZZZINGGGG. Ordered catfish and chicken meals. Absolute PERFECTION!!! had greens, Mac and cheese, and yams- ALL AMAAZZZINGGGGG. Look for Gwen, she hooked it upppppppp!!! DO NOT waste your time and COME ON DOWN!!!

I enjoyed that there was ample parking and it was not too crowded when I dined there on a Sunday afternoon. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and professional. I was excited to try the turkey chops with gravy but was disappointed/unable to enjoy them because they and most of my selections were too salty for my liking.

There's absolutely no way this place is a 5, 4, or even 3 stars. Place looks abandoned. No customers when I walked in. Light skin lady with ugly short braids with an attitude. She knows exactly what I'm talking about. Walking in Friday around 5:50 was the only customer there. No way yall are eating this place if yall want some real soul food go to LA. Run a better soul food business and get people that want to work straight up. This comment better not get deleted do better Ontario

Definitely recommending this place. The service was great. The host explained the items I ordered, and I'm glad she did. I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy. Oh myyyyy I couldn't believe my tastebuds. I was in absolute bliss. The lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and all the fixings that complimented those amazing shrimps in a delightful bun was out of this world. It's definitely spacious for an upcoming event as well. I HAVE to come back!

The food was truly authentic and delicious. I had the shrimp po boy sandwich and Mac and cheese. It's the best shrimp sandwich I've had in years since I've been to New Orleans. It was fresh cooked with passion. The staff is friendly and attentive. I'm surprised that the restaurant was not packed with the quality of food that they put out. I'm going back soon to work through the menu. Hopefully they get more business and make the restaurant a permanent fixture because you can't get this quality out of a chain restaurant.

Lovely establishment. Nice and cozy, and the bathrooms are so clean. Service is excellent and made sure we did not need anything else.

I've been here four times now and it's such a gem to have out here in Ontario. There are only a handful of soul food places around here so it's a nice option to have so close to home. The main courses are always a hit but I've noticed the sides are a hit or miss. The Mac and cheese was the best on my most recent visit but was pretty bland during my other visits. The greens are usually good but it can be pretty salty at times. The gravy has been too salty for my liking every time but the yams....man those never disappoint. I like that they offer desserts because I always need to end my meals with something sweet. The workers are always sweet when I come in which is always nice but you have to prepare to wait when you order. I definitely recommend calling in or utilizing the online orders. It has been getting busier each time I come in which is great news for the owners and I'm looking forward to seeing their business grow. I always get the catfish meal and have tried the following sides: Mac and cheese (hit or miss), greens (hit or miss), yams (my favorite), fries (were soggy and could have used a little more time in the oil), gravy and rice (too salty for me), and potato salad (honestly not bad if you like potato salad). Definitely recommend.

I had a hankering for soul food and this place did not let me down. I love ox tail and this place made it as good as my nephews and I didn't have to fly across the country. My husband had the Shrimp Po'Boy made just the way he likes it - juicy and the shrimp was crunchy. Side dishes... Mac and cheese: excellent, Collard greens: a little bitter, but good, Yams: excellent, corn bread: good. The only reason for a 4 rating is because the meal was served in disposable dishware. I can't wait to go back to try the chicken and waffles and catfish!

Was in the mood for some shrimp so I came here it was 20mins before closing.. it's nice and big in the inside play good music and all that a few tv's on the wall it's nice really nice owners I ordered a shrimp po boy sandwich with a side of red beans & rice and a came with a cornbread muffin and I must say it was good the shrimp was cook to perfection and the sauce on there was amazing I seen they had turkey chops on the menu so next time I'm going to try that.. Overall it was a good experience next time I will get there early...lol

Everything was cooked to perfection. Coming out west and enjoying a home cooked meal was very surprising.

Very friendly staff, food was delicious, perfect size and amount. We had 1 combo (shrimp po'boy with mc and cheese,), perfect for 2 of us. Highly recommend.Restaurant is hidden, Outside looks abandoned, but don't be discourage walk right in.

We stumbled on this place accidentally. We wanted some good food that we didn't have to stay in the kitchen all day and cook. There are a lot of soul food places around, but not all Soul Food is good food. Usually we have to travel to LA, but didn't want to go that far, so we decided to try this place. We have been hooker ever since. We ordered the Smothered Chicken and the Smother Turkey Chops with Greens, Mac n cheese, Yams, Red Beans n Rice, and of course Cornbread. The food was excellent. We now have been there several times and the flavor has been consistent. They are also very polite and friendly here. I understand that everyone has their own thoughts and opinions, but we love this place. I have visited several Soul Food establishments and "Not your Mamas Kitchen" is definitely in the top 3.

They gave us old chicken woke up the following day with food poisoning! We will not be returning the food is not worth the money spent.

So just arrived to Ontario for a few days of work and stopped by here and found out that the food is amazing. I got the fried chicken plate with red beans and rice , Mac n cheese then added corn bread and French fries with brown gravy. While waiting I got NYMK grape punch . All the food was sooo good and the help at the register to get me to order all this was soo nice and polite. If anywhere around this place it's a must try and enjoy. The chicken was crispy and moist and all the sides had good flavors and I wanted more but was full lol .

My wife and I enjoyed the Soul Food. We had fried catfish, tartar sauce, collard greens, mac and cheese, buttermilk corn muffin, and a helping of peach cobbler. We'll come back and do business again. Thanks to Brother Cory for waiting on us and offering great customer service! 5 stars

Nice and clean. I guess they still practice Covid Social Distance, you order pay then seat yourself. Food was alright. Chicken was very good, the collard greens was a bit salty, yams overly sweet (Some people like it like that). It do need a pinch of salt to kill the sugar off a little more Cinnamon & Butter Also. Red beans and white rice tasted like Zatarain's in the box. They made it though, because the beans was a lil Al Dente, Minute Maid rice needed to seat a while longer. Overall (No, it's nothing like my Mama's Kitchen)!!!! ITS ALLLLL-IGHT My Husband had Waffle's, Mac&Cheese. Waffles was good Mac needed to go back!!! Lol!!!

Super disappointed! The chicken was fine... on the hand the Mac & Cheese (I'm a lover) taste different EVERY TIME, it's super inconsistent. Unfortunately, I will not be a patron anymore...

Decent food. Definitely enjoy supporting black business. Not sure why the cashier has such a pose poor attitude. Definitely doesn't seem like the energy you'd want to be giving your local customers. The energy speaks to the empty dining space. Definitely get your food and go somewhere with better energy.

Great fried fish and chicken! Horrible sides dishes that were salty and overcooked. Service is mediocre and there is no ambiance. One dimensional catering business. However, the chicken (should be marinated) and fish fried well. Take out only.

Wonderful soul food in a relaxed atmosphere. Wish they had combination plates to try more of the great looking dishes. Had to settle for fried chicken, since I'd just returned from Mexico and had my fill of homemade Mexican food. The server said the their chicken is their specialty, and it didn't disappoint my dining partner and I. The chicken was cooked fresh. The batter was audibly crispy and flavorful, the dark meat stingingly hot and juicy. Can't beat that combination! Although we were hungry, the hot fresh chicken said "slowly now, ya hear? Savor this moment." Really liked the collards with salted pork, and the red beans and rice sides that I chose, although I would've liked some butter and/or honey to moisten my tasty, though dry, corn muffin. The side portions were more generous than expected--almost too much (can't believe I said that). We shared a peach cobbler, which was fruity and delicious, if with a bit more allspice than I like. My friend pronounced his sweet tea the perfect blend of sweet and refreshing. My fresh lemonade was tartly sweet, a mouth calmer after a hit bite of fresh chicken. Wholehearted recommendations from both of us, with a vow to try the catfish or po' boy next time!

Place was large with few patrons and an unused buffet lane! Food plates, cups, utensils were as if you were there for a "pick-up" meal ... served at your table! Food side servings were small styrofoam cups ... Customer service was an A+ Finally, Menu and Food Items were awesome and I would definitely go back! Competitive pricing ... affordable!

Ok so we reside in Eastvale, but have not found a worthy soul food place in the area... Enter NYMK!!!! This place is literally 15 mins outside of our home city and well worth the short drive.... we have eaten here several times and will continue to come back and support....The food is always well worth the wait and the friendliness of the young lady at the front counter is always welcoming. If you are in the Ontario area Thursday- Sunday from 12 -7pm and want food that touches your spirit. Stop by, hell you might catch us in there one day..

We made our rounds at our local favorite soul food restaurant. We ordered the Shrimp Po'Boy w/fries and Catfish plate w/Mac-n-cheese & greens. All of our favorites hit the spot. Every bite of my Po'Boy was deeelicious, savory and worth the cheat day. My spouse loved the catfish, creamy mac n cheese and those delectable greens...mmmmmmm good. If you haven't tried them yet you are missing out!!! This is a must try.

The food was delicious. I enjoyed every morsel. It was seasoned to perfection. Thank you for a taste of home. The delivery was speedy, and the food was perfectly packed.

We came for tacos and saw this spot in the same parking lot and decided to try it. It did not disappoint! The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The service was polite and professional. Everything is hope for in a "mom and pop" owed restaurant. I'll recommend it to my family and friends. 5 stars...5 stars...5 stars!!!! Where do I start..from the great music playing to the friendly owners and the nephew to the food!! The food is amazing..beyond packed with flavor. Ordered the fried chicken , mac n cheese and fries for my son...he devoured it. The fried chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly with the right amount of batter. The fries need their own award..these were the best fries we ever had. The secret is in the seasoning. ( I ate my sons mac n cheese) I ordered the fried fish, yams, greens and cornbread. The yams were HOMEMADE!! So many soul food restaurants claim to be homemade but arent. The greens were good. You could see the chopped garlic. The fried seasoned well and fried perfectly. You must get the lemonade to finish your southern meal off. No meal is complete without dessert...we got both the peach cobbler and coffee cake. The cake was very moist. You could really taste the cinnamon and I caught hints of nutmeg. The peach cobbler was just good. My son is already asking when do we come back?!!

Colder weather calls for some comfort food. NYMK didn't disappoint! I ordered to go as they close at 7. I moved to the IE from LA and I've been looking for good soul food. Compton's loss is the IE's (Ontario's) gain! Just around the corner from my house I'll be back. Huge portions of catfish, greens, & Mac & cheese! I have enough for lunch tomorrow to go along with the peach cobbler I didn't touch! I'll be back to try everything else on the menu!

I actually stopped eating my food too make this review. I was really craving some good food and drove 20miles to get here.. First the service Like seriously the girl was not very friendly and acted almost like I was bothering her when I ordered my food. Thankfully the lady that gave me my food was almost nice. Now for the food The waffle is exceptional Fluffy and light Yummy Now my chicken breast is under cooked and will I not eat it. Greens are good except they are not cut and cleaned properly :( But I'm going to finish them so they are ok I will give them another chance and will come earlier but if they are open and still serving The food should be cooked thoroughly Im very disappointed and feel like I spent alot too just eat a waffle :(

The shrimp Po Boy was amazing! If you see this food truck you should stop. You won't be disappointed.

Let me start off by saying that the staff here is amazing. Very welcoming, quick to answer all your questions and always checking in on you throughout your meal. Now this might just be because it's not that busy right now but it was nice change from the norm of serve you and forget you. Ordered the chicken and waffles and a sweet tea. The chicken was cooked perfectly and left me wanting to order more. The waffle I got extra crispy and with the syrup it was delicious. They provide a side of spicy sauce which went well with the chicken. I consider myself a sweet tea connoisseur and this is right up there with some of the best sweet tea out there. The south would be proud! All in all a great experience and will definitely come out here again when in area.

I got there when they were closing. I was looking forward to the oxtail but had to settle for the fish which was on hit. I look forward to getting the oxtail next time
