Some people that volunteer in this location as well as its worker employed are very rude, their demeanor is unreal. They take everything so personally. Some trying to low key piss you off on purpose. It’s mostly the ones that have pronouns. They exhibit a disregard for caring about people. Some of the younger volunteers are disrespectful as well as the older ones. The younger ones use this location as a dating site. Some people get mad if you talk to a person they like. Some volunteers think there bosses and boss other volunteers around. The demeanor of everyone’s attitude is alarming.

FROM COUSIN BRIAN MCGEE SERRANO DJ LOVE❤️@CHICAGO = FAMILY HISTORIAN 🙏🏾❤️✝️🔥BLESSINGS WORLDWIDE COUSINS!! LAKEVIEW PANTRY now called NOURISHING HOPE is a MAJOR BLESSING FROM GOD OUR FATHER CREATOR. A BLESSING THAT I AM GRATEFUL FOR = THANK YOU CREATOR & THANK YOU, LAKEVIEW PANTRY = NOURISHING HOPE. They take very good care of me & all the clients. If you need some help don't hesitate, feel ashamed, too proud to go there to get some help. They will take good care of you. They also have counselors that can help you with EBT, Disability & Housing. If they can't help you, they will direct you to organizations that can. Call for details. They ALSO have multiple CHICAGO LOCATIONS. DO NOT miss out on this major blessing. 1. BE GRATEFUL & THANK GOD FOR ALL HIS BLESSINGS!! KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE NO MATTER What SITUATION you are in during the MANY TRIALS in LIFE. A FOOD PANTRY IS NOT MY FIRST CHOICE. BUT MARK CUBAN STOLE MY DIVINE TV SHOW IDEA THAT GOD GAVE ME TO HELP OTHERS & MILLIONS FROM ME & MADE THE SHARK TANK SHOW ABOUT HIS GREED. I have been around for a while now Been through some major LIFE DRAMA on MANY OCCASIONS. STOP COMPLAINING, DO SOMETHING to CHANGE your situations. For those COUSINS complaining it is not enough, REALLY? They give you plenty HERE, the most I have ever experienced from ANY PANTRY. THIS IS THE BEST ONE. MOST IMPROVEMENTS TO ANY SITUATION START WITH AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT & CHANGE OF FRAME OF MIND. BE GRATEFUL & DO SOMETHING, BE A PART of MAKING YOUR SITUATION BETTER. It is a FOOD PANTRY, THEY are NOT YOUR PARENTS, GROW UP. 2. READ & Pay Attention to expiration dates. If something is BAD = YOU DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT THAT. LET THEM know the food is SPOILED OR PAST THE EXPIRED DATES. UNFORTUNATELY, that is WHAT is WHAT MOST of the GREEDY CORPORATIONS in AMERIKKKA SHARE these days. But CANNED GOODS & OTHER THINGS are STILL GOOD most times after the Expired Dates. MY CHOCTAW GRANNY TAUGHT US HOW TO MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF NOTHING. USE YOUR COMMON SENSE = If it is SPOILED TELL THE STAFF TO THROW IT AWAY, ASK FOR BETTER IF ITS AVAILABLE. But BITXXXXX & COMPLAINING it NOT the ANSWER BE PRO ACTIVE & PARTICIPATE in HELPING YOURSELF THINGS WILL GET BETTER. 3. GET ORGANIZED, there's lots of places to get help from in CHICAGO. LAKEVIEW PANTRY = NOURISHING HOPE NOT THE ONLY PANTRY, BUT IT IS ONE OF THE BEST PANTRIES. = BE GRATEFUL IT IS A BLESSING!!= Get off your TOUCHE, Stop Complaining, get organized, connect to Multiple Agencies, Food Pantries & Organizations. HELP IS OUT THERE, BUT YOU HAVE TO GET ORGANIZED TO MAKE THINGS BETTER FOR YOURSELVES 4. I WAS NOT GOING TO COMPLAIN, BUT TRUTH IS if YOU ENCOUNTER ANYONE WITH ATTITUDES IN LIFE OR AT THE PANTRY & SOMETIMES YOU DO, COMMUNICATE & LET THEM KNOW about their disrespectful behaviors, THAT ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE!! WE THE CLIENTS ARE ALREADY STRESSED OUT & NEED HELP. THE FOOD, MONEY & HELP IS NOT COMING OUT OF YOUR POCKETS. SO, KEEP THE NASTY ATTITUDES TO YOURSELVES. THIS ADVICE ALSO GOES TO THE CLIENTS, SOME OF YOU HAVE BAD ATTITUDES, ARE UNGRATEFUL & CAUSE CHAOS. EVERYBODY GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER, LIFE IS ALREADY DIFFICULT ENOUGH WITHOUT UNCESSARY CHAOS, ATTITUDES, MISTREATMENT & DISRESPECT AT THE FOOD PANTRY. BE GRATEFUL, KIND & RESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE!! FYI: THAT IS THE ONLY REASON I DID NOT GIVE THE FOOD PANTRY 5 STARS = BECAUSE OF THE NASTY ATTITUDES FROM STAFF & CLIENTS HERE SOMETIMES. BUT NONE OF YOU ARE GOING TO DISTURB MY JOY. YA'LL ALL, WE ALL NEED JESUS YESHUA THE REAL SAVIOR OF THE WORLD == LIKE MY MATERNAL PRAYER WARRIOR MISSISSIPPI CHOCTAW GRANNY 🙏🏾❤️✝️🔥USE TO TEACH US. RIP GRANNY = SHE TAUGHT US TO PRAY & TALK TO OUR CREATOR. LOOK IN THE MIRROR & AT OUR OWN BEHAVIORS & GET YOUR ATTITUDES CORRECT BEFORE YOU DEAL WITH ANYONE. SHE ALSO TAUGHT ME EVERYONE ANSWERS TO a BOSS WE ALL ANSWER TO GOD OUR FATHER CREATOR THE BIG BOSS. SO TREAT EVERYONE WITH HONOR & RESPECT WHILE YOU CAN. STAY STRONG, STAY FOCUSED & STAY IN PRAYER BLESSINGS!! = THINGS WILL GET BETTER. COUSIN BRIAN MCGEE SERRANO🙏🏾❤️✝️🔥 DJ LOVE❤️@CHICAGO = FAMILY HISTORIAN

I had a great experience volunteering at Nourishing Hope Community Service. The staff were friendly, organized, and truly dedicated to helping the community. They made it easy to get involved and made me feel appreciated for my time. It’s a great place to give back and see the impact you’re making firsthand. Highly recommend!

Google
This place is amazing. I went there before and they really do hook it up. Got bread, milk, pastries, canned goods and fresh produce too. Pretty dope spot and online it says they help with other things like human resources type of things I don't know personally because I just went for the food but from my one experience it was pretty good

Excellent staff. Very friendly. Good large food selection and the staff helps you with everything. I also like that we can sit down while we wait, especially if you have any physical issues, knee pain, etc.

Yelp
I was chastised about standing in the wrong line, profiled and then rushed then people were asking me where I lived trying to see if I came from the hood or something because I was one of the only people of color there. Then a representative took my food put it on the ground in the rain as I'm trying to bag everything up. completely rude and disrespectful and when I return I hope I'm treated with the same respect I give everyone.

Yelp
I made my way to the Lakeview Pantry-Sheridan this afternoon to donate some baby formula and the place is beautiful. It looks like the fanciest of grocery stores. Everyone was very helpful and made sure to answer any questions I had. They also took the formula and will now provide expectant mothers and babies with nutritious meals. I did not stay long but definitely felt that the grocery store was clean, open to anyone who might need some help with food, and everyone there was smiling, happy, and helpful. I want to go back and volunteer!

Yelp
Awesome group of folks who are passionate about the community. ..Lakeview Pantry offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, as well as social services. They accept food donations and after attending a mandatory info session, you can volunteer to sort and deliver care packages to those in need.

Yelp
This is an amazing non profit aiming to end hunger for good. They serve the residents of Chicago's North Side with 3 food distribution programs, and also help their clients achieve independence through their social services initiatives. I love volunteering here! After attending a volunteer orientation, you can choose to volunteer through a variety of ways - distribution, gleaning, restocking, etc on most days of the week. The staff is so warm and friendly and really goes out of their way to make both clients and volunteers fee at home. Please consider volunteering for or donating to this wonderful organization!

Yelp
LakeView Pantry has been reaching out to countless persons since they first started behind Jane Adams on Broadway and Belmont in the 70s. Because of you ethnicity is too old an excuse or accusation for events due to others or your own. Residents out of the zip code boundaries will be served once, then referred to pantries in their own areas. The volunteers are busy setting up, during the open hours, and after they close. They don't have time to lullaby, to tie shoes, or whistle for a luggage boy. Anybody who gives you something or does something for you is entitled to (if anything at all) a warm smile and an honest thank you. You are not entitled to tell them how to do their job, to tell them how ungrateful you feel, or to tell them how cheated you feel. It is every client's responsibility to bring or to ask for a garbage bag to keep the rain off. I find it hard to keep from asking client's who act like children if they would like the staff to go to the bathroom for them also.

Yelp
My favorite place to volunteer! The staff is dedicated to the mission to feed and uplift everyone. We get loads of food donations including flowers. I love sending people away with loads of food and some herbs, or lilies, or orchids. Times are tough God is still good!

Yelp
Carrie McCormack is one of the nicest ladies who works there. She does a great job in helping out the community, and in the past, myself.

Yelp
Life changer. Game changer. Lakeview Pantry does more for social justice through direct action than any other agency I've ever encountered in my life! Dignity and respect are the top two words I would use th describe the experience. They have THE BEST social workers I have encountered. When DHS drops the ball, go here! Don't believe what you see about food banks on TV. This place is clean, organized, dignified and the food is great. I have never had access to healthier food in my life. I only take about 10% of what they offer me and it's plenty of food. 90% of what I do take is organic so that right there tells you it's worth it. Just like government assistance-there is real work involved for the recipient, but if you count the value of the food and divide it by your time and effort-it pays twice the minimum wage. Everyone who doesn't make a living wage should have an account here, even if they only use it once in awhile. Plus, as an environmentalist, I know I'm eating food that would otherwise end up in a landfill. And a big shout out to the volunteers! I know it's a tough job but your efforts are not only necessary, your impact is enormous and meaningful.

Yelp
I e-mailed them in hopes to help volunteer. Never heard a word back.

Yelp
Lakeview Pantry just moved from their old location on Broadway. The new facility is beautiful and spacious. The volunteers are always friendly.

Yelp
I volunteer for home deliveries on Saturdays and also distributing food at the west location. Both pantries are really well organized and have a lot of great regular volunteers. I really enjoy working here and the clients are, for the most part, pretty sweet.

Yelp
I volunteered for home delivery for 2 years and it was a wonderful experience! They are doing great work for the community!

Patrick R.

Yelp
I have volunteered here with my daughter and some of her friends. Very good opportunity and the pantry is very well organized. My daughter and her friends have gained a strong insight as to what a simple positive gesture means to folks, and how they can make a difference.

Amber W.

Yelp
We were home delivery volunteers here for a few years and loved every Saturday. You show up to grab the bags of food and address list, and take about an hour out of your day to deliver food to home-bound people in need. Such a wonderful way to help out and what an eclectic group of people we met - elderly, limited mobility, blind, and others who truly needed our help. Highly recommended!
