Nova Sushi Bar & Asian Fusion

Nova is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants around. They have a fantastic selection of sushi options and always have the freshest fish! Although it may seem unassuming with its location tucked away in a strip mall, Nova is without a doubt my go-to place for sushi.

Great staff! Super quick service, super sweet people, and the food was amazing! My group of five ordered a bunch of food, and even then went for seconds. For what we ordered, the price was very reasonable, and the time between ordering and receiving food was very short. Will totally come back!!!!

I have been hearing about a couple of local sushi places, and so I'm making the rounds. Nova was very solid it was a Friday night, and the food was taste sushi felt very fresh. The restaurant was a little louder than I would have liked, but everyone is celebrating the end of the work week. That's really understandable

Great sushi! The spicy tuna roll and the white spicy tuna have a great amount of Kik and a hint of sesame oil that makes it my favorite in the area. The customer service is on point very tentative and try to remember your name. You will not be disappointed with this establishment.

Great. Fish tastes fresh and they put good sized pieces in the sushi. We got only regular rolls and they were good sized. The sizzling pepper steak was really good too and tender. Served medium rare-medium in case you were wondering. They got the order done quickly too and we took it home. Great experience!

The service/staff are nice there and helpful when asked. The food we had was good, but nothing special. The main reason for a lower score is because they look like they have more vegan/vegetarian options then they do. I am aware I need to ask new places what sauces do and don't have fish/oyster sauce, but i was surprised to learn they put fish flakes on at least some of their tofu options. I was thankful the staff gave me the information, but wished it was clearly labeled to reflect fish on tofu or maybe just left off. This limited our choices down even more and i worry for those who don't think or know to ask. If I hadn't thought to ask about the sauce the server would have never had a reason to tell me about the fish on the tofu and I would have just ordered it. So thankful she told me.

This place is very unique. The atmosphere is very peaceful and it feels like an upscale dining establishment. The food is of superior quality and everything appears to be very clean and well managed. The server was polite and and prompt. She had a demeanor that made it apparent she was happy working there. I would definitely recommend this establishment to family and friends, amd plan on making a return visit. The scallion pancakes were to die for!

Had dinner here with a friend for the first time tonight. Doesn't look like much from the outside in a shopping center that has a lot of vacancies. Went inside and only one table left and then people waiting after we were sat. Sashimi Plate was great with good sized portions. Miso soup was great. My friend had a couple of their maki rolls. Highly recommend. Only complaint would be $10 for a Sapporo tall boy.

I craved General Tso's shrimp, so I went back for a second time. This time, I decided to add an order of Shrimp fried rice. While the rice tasted good, I was very disappointed with the amount given for 18 dollars. I will admit that they put big-quality shrimp in the rice, but I should have been given more.

My favorite place in Edgewater for some shrimp fried rice!! I ordered to go and was given an accurate time for pick up!!

Takeout was delicious and reasonably priced for high quality sushi. We will be ordering from here again.

My absolute favorite sushi place on the planet. Something about this place always hits. Great price and service is always fast. Never feels like you are in between a west marine and a liquor store. Overall highly recommend

Not bad at all! Recently got takeout on a visit to family and we all enjoyed our food very much. We got a few of the sushi rolls to try out. Overall not bad. The spicy tuna had a lot of filling, which was good. We read on Yelp to try to Asian style nuggets, and they didn't disappoint. While they were smaller than I'd expected, they were well-seasoned with a nice spice mix. Vegetable tempura appetizer was a lot of food for the price, and a good variety of veggies. Would get this again. I also read that the beef lo mein is the best, but they were out of beef that day, so we opted for chicken. It was okay; maybe next time, beef lo mein. The chicken and broccoli dish was also a pleasant mix of well-cooked vegetables and lots of pieces of chicken. All in all, pretty decent!

I will for sure be back! Customer service at this place was a one. We were greeted and seated immediately the sushi was wonderful. My husband ordered a love boat and I will just let him get it because he's been wanting a laptop that we came back to the mainland. Octopus on the boat it's really tasty. My Gyoza was cooked perfectly I also had some sort of some sushi that had eel on it. I can't remember the name but that was pretty tasty too. This is probably some of the best sushi I've had in a really long time! I definitely plan on visiting this place we we have our next night out!

Hands down the best sushi in town. They also don't skim on the ginger which is rare these days!

Many think this is the best Japanese food around and well priced. They are proud of their selections of fish and I haven't been disappointed. The restaurant has a long accommodating sushi bar if you like or table seating. The staff is knowledgeable and warm. The Tuna Dumpling is wonderful if they don't put too much sauce on it.

Nova is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. Always spotlessly clean and very friendly. The staff is so efficient. Every meal that I've ever had there has been delicious. I highly recommend them.

4.5 stars but I'll give it 5 because the Chirashi was great and so was our service. The sushi roll was just ok as they add a little bit too much mayo to their spicy rolls. I would stick to their traditional sushi orders. A nice find in Edgewater as we were returning from Dewey Beach and needed a meal before getting back to DC. Would recommend!

This is our favorite sushi place in the area. They are consistently good. I am a big sashimi eater and the pieces of fish are always nice and thick. My husband appreciates that there is the perfect balance of rice and fish in their rolls. We do mostly takeout, but our interactions with the staff have always been quick, efficient, and pleasant.

We came here on a Friday and got the yellowtail jalepeno appetizer, miso soup, 3 sushi rolls, pad thai, and fried rice. The only thing we didn't love was the yellowtail- it was good but not great. We loved the pad thai even though it was a little different than we've had before. The rolls were great and tasted very fresh. The atmosphere isn't great but it's good enough and there's always a nice amount of people there.

An unassuming sushi bar located in a grocery mall in Edgewater MD. This small eatery has few seats, but they are spacious and the atmosphere is somewhat cozy. Staff is very friendly, and service is fast. The sushi here is good, but a bit on the saucy side. They do have some unique rolls that are not on menus at other nearby sushi places. Definitely worth giving a try to sample some of their signature rolls. Maybe you can even ask for light sauce or sauces on the side too.

Fabulous sushi, everything I've ever had here is amazing. I recommend the Maryland themed special rolls, all of them have been amazing. Service is fast and friendly. Restaurant is clean.

Ordered the house salad, crispy calamari, California roll, shrimp tempura roll and the Edgewater roll. Everything was very good I'd notice the service to along time they were crazy busy. Also the seaweed paper was very dry and unraveled on the tempura roll where roll pieces kept falling apart. Heard allot of great reviews about this place. I hope they figure out how keep up with their growing business. I will try again for lunch when it's not as busy for my second try. I will be upgrading my post if my experience warrants it.

Still loving this place! Soooo good. Kani salad is my fav. Service is always great - Although one thing I will say is when it's super busy they prioritize the take out orders while dine in customers wait 45 minutes to an hour for a roll to come out. Other than that everything is exceptional!

Sushi here is great. Service on the other hand looks like they are missing someone, orders can take awhile. Back to the food, it's great, fresh and portions are good sized. Price is on point. We tried seafood plate, seaweed salad, sushi rolls. Everything taste good. Good place overall.

Good service. We sat at the sushi bar, but didn't have the sushi experience we were expecting sitting at the bar. The sushi chef placed everything on a large dish and gave to wait staff to bring to us vs allowing us to order a few things that they place on your sushi block. Good sushi

Wow, this place is a true hidden gem! Don't let the exterior fool you. The strip mall looks like it has seen better days and my husband was quick to say let's go somewhere else, but we decided to just give it a chance. The restaurant was very clean, the menus were beautiful, and all of the silverware and drinking glasses were all spotless! The service was friendly, quick, but most importantly, the sushi was amazing! It was probably the best we've had in the area and we've been to many places. My kids who are extremely picky all loved the food as well, and they were delighted to see they were given children's chopsticks! This will be our new favorite spot to dine at.

Sunday afternoon lunch at Nova was wonderful. Arrived just as the restaurant opened and we were seated immediately. This restaurant seems like a local favorite as the restaurant quickly filled up with diners and people picking up carry out orders. We ordered a few dishes: seaweed salad, avocado rolls and the sushi special which came with a choice of soup or salad. My friend went with Miso soup. The food was really good. Gobbled up the seaweed salad, The Pad Thai (with chicken and shrimp) wasn't too spicy, noodles were cooked to perfection and the portion was just right. My friend loved the sushi platter. Would like to visit in the evening to see if there'd be music playing because it could make for a nice way to begin a Friday night.

Horrified by the service this last visit. I just got back home from a cross-country business trip and was rushed from the moment I walked in. (I arrived at 8:16pm and they close at 10pm) I do not appreciate the attitude that I was being done a favor to be served at a restaurant when your position is indeed just that. A server. Everything I asked for, starting with the order itself was treated as she was bothered. I don't care if the food is good or not. Being treated like a fast food drive through is not acceptable.

This is a great little restaurant! We always enjoy the lunch, generally a tempura bento box that is incredibly generous. The snow peas dish and the Panang curry are definite winners. Our friends enjoyed the beef negimaki. We have sampled their sushi and it's fresh and well-prepared. There is a sushi bar for those who are serious. It's a friendly place with great food and very reasonable prices. It's definitely worth a try for lunch or dinner.

Ordered 2 rolls and my husband ordered sashimi sushi. All the fish in both orders was room temperature! Not a good practice for raw fish. Hopefully we won't get sick!

I come here often and always have great service and food, the owners are amazing and always so friendly. Specifically I came yesterday though and the waitress was beyond inventive, so sweet and I could not have asked for better service! I feel she especially deserves a shout out as she was super busy and working super hard. Nova is the best around!

This place has fantastic sushi. Easily the closest you'll get to Joss, at a more affordable price point. However, the real sleeper hit of this restaurant is the beef lo mein. It's perfectly done. It's the type of dish that ruins every other beef lo mein for you. I've tried two places in my college town this month searching for a comparable lo mein, and have been left lacking. Before I forget, the scallion pancake is also great. So is the shrimp and asparagus entree. Also, the kids chicken tenders are ridiculously good(my little sister got some). They give you a ton of small tempura battered bites! I still dream about this lo mein, and until I'm back in Maryland, I'll be in the kitchen spending countless hours trying to recreate that lo mein.

Just go here..! The sushi rolls are awesome, the prices are amazing. I want a lot of sushi for my dollar so I stick to the standard rolls, and they deliver. Great fresh rolls, they do NOT skimp on the fish at all! Get the Alaska roll - it's my favorite, it is like every single fish - packed with fresh fish- and then some spicy mayo and chives I believe .. so good I get 2 Get the albacore spicy tuna - instead of the mush of tuna, you get big chunks of spicy tuna and it's DELICIOUS Get tuna avocado - huge pieces of fresh pink tuna with ripe creamy avocado Spicy salmon and spicy yellow tail - both are so so good, nice big chunks of fresh fish tossed in spicy mayo with some crunch added in there... ugh amazing Philadelphia roll is delicious, well done The spider/king crab one is great if you love crab! Everything I named besides Alaska is like 5-6 dollars too... how can you go wrong? My standard order for 2 (one hungry guy and me!) Miso soup, garden salad Cali, Alaska, philly, spicy salmon, spicy yellow tail, tuna avocado, spicy albacore tuna, shrimp tempura. Comes out to like $65 and it's damn worth it, where else can you stuff your face with fresh sushi for $30 bucks a person ?! And I mean STUFF... Especially in this area!

A nice surprise. It's located in an unassuming strip mall. The space is just right not too crowded with tables and space is comfortably appointed. I had the sizzling seafood plate. It was generous and tasty. Well seasoned and a delightful experience. My husband got a basic General Tso and enjoyed every bite. My seaweed salad was tasty but I needed a dressing. The ginger dressing worked but not sure I'd repeat that. All in all, it's a definite go to. Wait staff polite and attentive. What else do you , good food , goo service! I'll be back!

Sooooo delicious! The sushi and sashimi were really high quality and very thick cut. We had the love boat sushi and sashimi and it also included a crab roll. Such a great deal for only $55 for this sized portion of high quality sushi.

It's always a little unnerving walking into a sushi place that does not smell fresh. I was hesitant upon entering because the fish smell I as smelling was not pleasant and worried me a bit. We got the crunchy crawfish roll, spicy yellowtail roll, and the chelsea roll. Also, crab rangoons and calamari. I loved the crunchy crawfish roll, it had a very strong flavor. The yellowtail was my least favorite due to the fish itself, it just did not taste fresh. The chelsea roll was good but mostly vegetable. I enjoyed the wasabi sauce and tuna on the top but otherwise all that could be tasted was the cucumber and asparagus. I do not recommend the crab rangoons as they were mostly onions and came with a sauce that looked like duck sauce but tasted like it had thyme in it - overall not a fan. The calamari however was delicious and came with a sauce that I wanted to drench the calamari in.

I ordered to go from here and really enjoyed the food. We had a big selection which included the valentine roll, Rainbow roll, the crab Rangoon, shrimp fried rice, seaweed salad and the chicken panang curry bowl. The food was really good but it definitely is overpriced. The chicken panang needed more servings of rice, the ration of rice to curry was definitely underwhelming. Be sure to ask for extra.The seaweed salad was served over a bed of iceberg lettuce which was unnecessary. If you want unique and fresh sushi I definitely recommend but this comes with a price tag.

Best sushi place we have tried in Maryland so far. (We've been to 5 in Columbia, Annapolis, Odenton and Baltimore) Quality fish, excellent service, delicious, and a large variety of sushi. Fair prices. No complaints.
