West-side favorite for 90‑second, high-heat pies, Novanta keeps things simple: soft, leopard‑spotted crusts, quality toppings, and a casual counter setup. Consistently recommended by local listings for dependable, classic Neapolitan.

Great pizzas, quick and friendly service, all around a fantastic fast casual pizza stop. The pizzas are fresh with generous toppings and come out hot. The crust is fantastic and the perfect texture and chewiness.

One of the best pizzas I have ever had. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The staff was fantastic. Desserts were amazing too. I wish I lived in the area so I could come here more often, but I will be back when I am visiting the town again.

As a lacto-vegetarian, finding truly indulgent desserts without eggs can feel like an endless search. So when I discovered this place, it felt like a little haven. The cannoli and the chocolate truffle gelato were absolutely divine—each bite was a delight. I took home the Regina pizza last night, and it was so good that I found myself returning the very next morning. And I have to mention…..the roasted red bell pepper soup? Simply unforgettable. Rich, comforting, and full of flavor…..it’s the kind of dish you crave long after the last spoonful !!!!! Naturally, you’d expect a pizzeria to serve great pizza…..but this place exceeded every expectation. The pizza was truly exceptional, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. And if you get the chance, don’t miss their house-made pesto. It’s vibrant, fresh, and absolutely unforgettable….a perfect example of how even the simplest elements here are crafted with care.

The Food: I had half Margherita / half Salsiccia pizza (mozzarella, roasted peppers, olives, mushrooms, basil); Unshackled red wine; and Chocolate truffle gelato. Salsiccia was best and was very tasty. The sauce is wonderful! There was only one small piece of basil on each slice of the margherita half. But after I mentioned my disappointment to my server, I was told that next time I can order extra basil at no extra charge. (Another reviewer said she paid for extra basil and didn't get it. But her photo shows multiple pieces of basil on each slice, which means they provided what they consider extra basil.) Other pizzas sound quite good, too. Lots of unique options. I've had better Neapolitan pizza, but this was very good and a good value. The gelato was delicious and a relatively light dessert. The wine was recommended by wait staff and was a wonderful complement to my pizza. Nice and slightly peppery in taste. Service: You order at the counter; you're given a number for your table; and the food is brought to you. This is reflected in the price, which is very reasonable for the quality of food. My pizza was served very quickly, which would make this a great place for lunch on a workday. Atmosphere: It's a bustling place, especially for a Monday night. This is not a fine dining experience--more like you'd find in a solid sandwich shop. The kitchen is very open style and quite visible from the seating area. The staff have a very friendly, casual vibe but are very diligent. If you're looking for a relaxing dinner, this is not the place. But if you want something out of the ordinary served quickly that won't exhaust your expense account, it's just the place for a traveling businessman.

The pizza 🍕 was very good but wasn't mind-blowing 🤯. I do wish it was a bit bigger. The crust had a nice crisp to it and the price 💰 was very reasonable. Not sure about the desserts 🍰 because I didn't buy any. Pretty good for a quick bite.

Google
Hands down one of the best pizza in Madison. Margharita pizza is a must try and their Tiramisu was lipsmacking. Well balanced sweetness. Dint personally liked their Lemon Sorbet but would be fun for kids, i guess. They have option for outdoor sitting we preferred that over sitting inside. They delivered the food at the table but did not mention to get the dessert from the counter. We waited for long then enquired and got to know.

Google
I was really excited when I saw that they cooked their pizza the Italian way in a 900° oven. However, the pizza I received was partially cooked, had no crunchy crust to it whatsoever, no char at all like you would typically see with a true Italian pizza. But not only that, the marsala Pizza was Bland at best. Also ordered a small Gorgonzola salad that was decent, however, the tiramisu was dry and not tasty at all. Overall I was disappointed and will likely not be back. For the quality and portion size of the food it is highly overpriced.

This was our first visit to Novanta. Highly recommend this place. Great personal size pizzas here. We tried 3 different pizzas. Our favorite is the Marsala Pizza (Mushroom, onion, Basil & Marsala Cream). We also enjoyed the Salsiccia (sausage & mushroom). The Pesto pizza was good. The crust is similar to a naan bread or flatbread texture which we really enjoyed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our server Christa was wonderful!

Yelp
This may come as a surprise...this is the so-called Napoli style pizza. It is NOT what people from Chicago or New York are used to...to be frank it is more plain. That is, it is a plain dough with minimal toppings and not the Italian-spiced item people expect. Nor is it the real traditional Italian style which is basically thicker and has minimal toppings. Overall though the food was excellent, quickly served - and the staff was very nice. The restaurant is also minimalistic, clean and plain. Food seems healthy. The clientele seems to have no problem with the prices.

Yelp
It's a beautiful restaurant and the staff are amazing but the pizza is just OK. I built a meat lovers build your own pizza and it was good. I ordered online and would've liked to put in instructions to cook it well done, but I did not have that opportunity. And that's exactly what it needed - crisp up that crust a bit. Otherwise great concept of pizzas and build your own options. I also had the lemon sorbet, which was good.

Yelp
Went to lunch a bit late, around 1:30pm on a Tuesday. Ordered a naponetana and a cannoli. Pizza size was good, perfect for one person. It arrived rapidly (three orders were ahead of me). The anchovies were not overly salty, the balance in flavor vs sauce and crust was excellent. I of course wanted to two other pizzas, but considering I have a couple of hours drive yet and need to stay awake, I did not get the chance to try them all. The cannoli was delicious. Service was very attentive, polite, and positive. Id come again if in the area.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delicious! I had the margarita pizza and it was the best margarita pizza I have ever had. I also had the graham cracker cake and it was to die for. The staff were incredible! All smiles and checked in on me to make sure everything was correct. The restaurants atmosphere was cozy and had a nice feel to it. Will come bake again and again!

Yelp
We tried three different pizzas and each one was a smash. Huge fresh salad and a cannoli rounded out our meal. Amazing price. Three of us ate for less than $50 pre tip. My favorite of the pizza was the alice. My husband loved the pepperoni with hot honey. The sausage mushroom was also delicious.

Yelp
Visited Novanta again for a Friday dinner. With summer in full flight, it was great to enjoy their outdoor dining patio. We ended up ordering a pepperoni and sausage pie and they were just as good as I had remembered. The pies were each $13 which I thought was reasonable for a handmade woodfired pie. The crust of the pie had nice chew and flavor from the heat of the oven. The toppings tasted great and overall service was fantastic. Will return!

Yelp
One of the best Neapolitan pizzas I've ever. The salad was great too, and the portions were huge. Cool atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Caprese wase my absolute favorite item here. It was mainly fresh Wisconsin Mozerella cheese. I loved it. It comes with olive oil, pesto, baby tomato, toasted bred and arugula. Pesto pizza was my another favorite here. Again the hightlight of that is also fresh Wisconsin Mozzerella, pesto, baby tomato and olive oil. I also went for a canoli for dessert. I had an espresso coffee to finish the meal. Quantity was small, but the coffee was very strong. I dined in for lunch. You go to the cashier, order food, pay for it, take a token number and wait in a table. Food came pretty quickly.

Yelp
I met a friend for dinner here and it was perfect for what we were seeking: quick/casual but legit/good pizza. The flow/structure is like Panera: you order at the front, take a number, they bring it to you. I loved this. I had consistent access to the soda machine and my pizza was so darn good. I don't really chat about flavors a ton simply because every has different tastes/preferences. But it was good and what I hoped/expected the sausage/mushroom to taste like! Also, they served wine and beer which was great. Staff was friendly, tables and floors were clean, bathroom was clean. I'd absolutely return!

Tracy M.

Yelp
Food and Service are top notch ( this from a Jersey girl). Real Italian style all around. I loved my experience. Thank you Ciao'.

Yelp
Delicious Pizza. Better for takeout as the restaurant is small. However, the freshness of the ingredients and the crust makes this place worth the stop!
google avatar

Yelp
The pizza is great and the Nutella dessert pizza is a family favorite! Unfortunately, the service has always been a little spotty when we've been -- whether it's reminding the staff that we ordered a dessert pizza and haven't received it yet or feeling rushed to exit, our experiences have made us prefer to-go orders rather than dining in. Still recommend trying it out!

Yelp
Novanta is one of my favorite spots to grab dinner with friends. They usually close at 9pm but don't close the kitchen exactly at 8pm, which really helps! I've been here twice so far and have no complaints: service was amazing (and quick), food was great, and prices are reasonable (~$13 for a personal pizza). The first time here I got a margherita pizza, which I really enjoyed (even more so than the toscano that I had during my second visit - was a bit underwhelming because it doesn't have sauce). I heard from friends that their caprese is also good. Anyways, I've yet to try their desserts but look forward to eventually doing so!

Yelp
Nothing short of 5 stars! Quick and friendly service, amazing quality food, and relaxed interior. Prices are appropriate and I can't wait to come back!

Berg N.

Yelp
Incredible pizza for the $! Some of the best pizza dough and mozzarella I have had in a long time. Definitely worth the visit!

Debra H.

Yelp
Service was great, pizza ingredients are fresh. Both times I have eaten in the restaurant versus carryout the pizza has been barely warm. So disappointing especially since the people next to us had a steaming hot pizza. When I addressed this issue with the server she said it is difficult to serve everyone by herself when it is busy. Probably won't go back unless I choose carryout and heat it up at home.

Yelp
I written plenty about this place. Every time I visit I'm always extremely impressed by the people and the quality of their product. Today was my first visit in about an entire two months, and calling my order in advance it was wonderful to be greeted by Kristen who greeted me by name. I hadn't seen her in perhaps as long as it's been since the days of snow had passed, so that was really nice. She immediately knew what pie I wanted as well as the roasted garlic addition that I love. When I opted to order a second pie, I didn't know what I wanted but she suggested the Regina, based on my asking if there was a particular pizza that featured the buffalo mozzarella (fresh made in house) and being that this pizza was only a cheese and Basel I was uncertain of which protein. Pepperoni is too overrated, and I'm not a fan of sausage like I once was. She suggested ham, which brought to mind a very good, but I couldn't think of the name, Iberico, ham. So I said it was a great choice. When I arrived, I realized I should've requested Prosciutto, so I asked her if it was what she had meant. No, but she said if I wanted it, she could still have it added! I still don't know if the ham was indeed Iberico, but the uncooked prosciutto itself was a game changer! I now have THE GO TO pie, that is going to take the Pulcinella from my top of my list and put it at the second tier. Absolutely gorgeous flavor profile. My little herb garden is serving up Basel, tomatoes, thyme and other herbs to cook with. The ghost and scotch bonnets are still not ready to fry my taste buds and everything else behind my teeth, but I did have a scorpion pepper to accent this nights tomato pies, and my sweat is still burning as I write these words. Thanks Kristen, you made this day pretty outstanding.

Yelp
Service is great and the restaurant was clean. The pizza was below average and the dough / crust tasted processed.

Yelp
This is a mixed review. I grew up on NYC pizza so standards are high. Yelp led me to Novanta and I love how they make many of their own ingredients. They have a diverse pizza menu as well. We got a Diavola and a Salsiccia pizza and both were very good but not great. The crust was well balanced and their mozzarella was excellent. The sauce was somewhat neutral, maybe to let the other ingredients not get smothered. Overall it would have been nice to have more toppings for a more substantial pie. The staff was friendly. I may try their pesto pie in the future. The search in Madison continues.

Judy B.

Yelp
You can't beat this pizza and service! No matter that you get, you know it is going to be good! They use high quality ingredients and it is always clean!

Yelp
Really fantastic neopolitan pizza place. We have tried about half the items on the menu and are yet to be disappointed. Appreciate that the ambiance is causal since we have young kids. You can't go wrong here

Yelp
I liked almost everything about this! Almost. We were traveling through and ordered pizzas and a salad to be delivered to our hotel room. Here's the down low: Pepperoncini pizza. Oh yes please! A garlic, pepperoni, mozzarella , basil pepperoncini bunch of face full happiness on correct crust! What a GREAT PIZZA! Alice: a white pizza made on the correct crust. Mozzarella (it's a great grade) pecorino cheese, fontina, basil, onions and basaltic vinegar. Again, what a GREAT pizza! Gorgonzola salad: mixed greens, Gorgonzola, walnuts and cranberries with a basaltic vinegar dressing. Nice! Oh, almost love everything? We had it delivered. No napkins and no forks for the salad. (Small errors given the quality of the food). As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'
google avatar

Bret D.

Yelp
Amazing pizza, appetizers, salads, wine - whether takeout or dine in. Better ingredients than Mod pizza, nicer service , and it's the same price for a better tasting pizza.
google avatar

Christopher J.

Yelp
Order-before-seating pizzeria and the grub was great. Quick order at the front, sat down and had a few sips of brew and our food was out. A simple pesto pizza with a Gorgonzola salad and we were full! Food quality was great. All toppings and dough tasted fresh, as well as every bit in the salad. So refreshing going to a place with this business model and everything feels like a high end stop. Definitely recommend and appreciate the delightful cashier/server!

Yelp
Really really enjoyed this place, got two pies for just over $20, and they were delicious. Lightweight with a yummy chewy crust, and the perfect amount to split with someone! Would come back! Díavola pizza (pepperoni) Lombarda - DELICIOUS. Pear, arugula, and gorgonzola
google avatar

Lenny S.

Yelp
Great pizza and pasta! The hazelnut gelato is my wife's favorite! The service is friendly and inviting. Seating is a bit limited unless you get there before the rush. I would recommend dining in because the pizza is best fresh.

Kathy H.

Yelp
Great pizza mostly carry out but the location was easy to get to. The value was perfect
google avatar

Jack G.

Yelp
Great tasting pizza; friendly attentive staff. Fresh ingredients and a wide selection of toppings. As of June 2020, only carry out and delivery are being offered due to current events. Staff was observed taking all necessary precautions to protect both guests and themselves. Respectful atmosphere. Highly recommend

Yelp
Consistent and fresh! Great dine in or takeout Options on locations however the team in Middleton is amazing.

Yelp
I stopped in for carry out because I was craving pizza and was in the area to pick up my daughter from sports. This was such a positive experience. There were a few families eating outside when I arrived on the nice spring weather day. I ordered a vegetariana for me and a pesto for my daughter. The staff was pleasant and friendly, transaction was quick. I waited for my order and a staff member brought it out in about 10 minutes, found me outside, and I was on my way. My pizza was delicious. The tomato sauce and thin crust have such great flavor and texture. My daughter shared hers with a friend who asked to take a photo of the box to remember the name and have her parents bring her back for pizza.

Yelp
This place has some really delicious wood fired pizza. It's always insanely fast and service is always great. Their daily special is always pasta bolognese but it's always delicious so I don't mind :)
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch (I need Gluten Free) and we were all amazed at the variety if Pizza and how fast and amazing their service and all the pizza's were. I was especially amazed how yummy their GF crust was!! And I could get any toppings I wanted, not just cheese and pepperoni. They even have a special cook tray for the gluten free items to avoid cross contamination. Highly recommend!! This is an awesome place for service, ambiance and the food is amazing!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Love their pizzas! Worth the price and personal size. Never a long wait and great spot for Lunch to be in and out. My order is always fresh and tasty! Check them out and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
If you love Neapolitan-style pizzas, you can't go wrong with Novanta. We tried an Alice (Mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Fontina, Onion, Basil, Balsamic Glaze) and a Diavola (Mozzarella, Pepperoni, Onion, Basil) - both were excellent! The Emiliana salad was a nice starter. Found the gelato to be a bit harder than you would expect, but it tasted delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Next time the Neapolitan craving hits, we'll be back!
google avatar

Masaru O.

Yelp
Novanta = 90 in italian, meaning 90 seconds at 900 degrees. Translation: your pizza will be out shortly. All the pizzas are individual sized, 10 in? The topping combos are all relatively simple. The crust is thin and lightly baked as you would expect with only 90 seconds. As someone else said I wouldn't mind maybe another 30 seconds in the oven but it's fine, soft and chewy. I got the pepperoncini. Usually I like to have a few more ingredients on the pizza but I think this does the job. Makes for a good lunch without being heavy.
google avatar

Natalie Y.

Yelp
Finally got to come to my boyfriend's favorite pizza shop. It's conveniently located in a plaza on Old Sauk Road next to other small businesses and Walgreens. Novanta is pretty small in size but theres actually a lot more tables than you think. About 12 tables inside and a few more outside when weather is permitting. To add, it maybe a better option to place a call-in order and take out for your convenience. Their pizza is categorized in two: tomato sauce and no-tomato sauce. Per boyfriend every one of their pizzas is flavorful and filling. He prefers eating no-tomato sauce pizza which I have to agree with. We got Pepperoncini and Toscano. Pepperoncini has tomato sauce with spicy salame, pepperoncini peppers along with mozzarella, garlic and basil. For me, it was just OK. Nothing too special in flavor wise but I was pleasantly surprised with their crispy crust and thin dough. On the other hand, Toscano was closer to my type of pizza. Has no meat but it has cherry tomatoes, roasted peppers, onion along with mozzarella, garlic and basil. Some people may argue that this pizza is too bland because it really doesnt have any sauce or kick. But I was pretty satisfied with all the juicy veggies and creamy mozzarella on a crispy dough. I want to believe that Novanta is very strict on how they make the pizza as to presentation. They are not too generous on toppings because as you can see the pictures along with this review, it doesnt look much. But weirdly, its enough to bring out the flavors in each ingredient on pizza. Boyfriend said he paid extra for additional toppings and pizza just had one extra of whatever topping he requested. All in all, pizza was pretty satisfying and service provided by the staff was amazing. I would come here again next time I'm in Madison even though I am not too crazy for pizza.

Yelp
I was in town on business and looking for a unique, local hangout to meet up with some friends. One of my colleagues heard about Novanta and found that it had been given 5 stars by past customers. Upon walking in, we were immediately greeted with a smile by a friendly staff person. The interior of the restaurant isn't fancy but the menu offers unique and tasty choices, including salads. In fact, one of my friends ordered a salad and it was huge. It looked so good that I will definitely try one during my next visit. Now onto the main attraction: the pizza. After mulling over several options, I decided to order the Pesto Pizza. It was the perfect size for one person, and most important, it was flavorful and delicious. I only wish I had saved room for dessert because Novanta had some mouthwatering options. Next time.

Yelp
Best pizza I have had outside of Napoli. Usually pick up but when I dined it I enjoyed it. Amazing desserts as well. Quick service. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Jax A.

Yelp
I actually really like this restaurant. The food is good quality and there is a nice selection. I've been here a couple times and I've enjoyed it each time. Overall, 7/10, it's a good pizza place if you're in the area or even slightly outside.
google avatar

Debb L.

Yelp
I tried one of their no sauce pizzas. It was delish and had olive oil instead of sauce. It made the pizza a little thinner but amazing flavor! I also had dessert! Yum! The staff were friendly. Carry out was quick and I was in my way again in no time.

Katy S.

Yelp
Madison has lots of great pizza joints, but Novanta is a gem among them. They are fast, consistent, and hyper-fresh. The crust is perfectly seasoned and has a great constrast of crisp on the outside and chew on the inside, and their homemade mozzarella is heavenly! My only request is that they'd have a rotating special or add a few new ingredients into the mix, but that's a minor gripe. For lovers of Neapolitan pizza, this place has the goods. Service is always A+ too!
google avatar

Kat W.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by this excellent place! Came here with a group of 6 when our attempts at snagging a table at Eno Vino at 6:30 PM on a Saturday were thwarted. Ordered several different pizzas here, including the alice, toscano, salciccia, sardine (the special) and cow milk and buffalo milk from the mozzarella bar accompanied by pesto/tomatoes/balsalmic and meats. Prices were extremely reasonable for the pizzas and they were fun to share. They were very well made thin-crust and the pizzas were flavorful -for those times you want higher quality pizza but want to be more casual than Grampa's or Naples. The cow milk and buffalo milk was extremely fresh and tasty and worth trying at least once (though it feels like a splurge when it's the same price as a pizza and not nearly as filling). The pesto was absolutely delicious and was great to dip pizza crust into (however, the meat plate seamed to be a better deal/more filling). Definitely glad I visited!

Paula H.

Yelp
Based on reviews, stopped here for lunch while driving thru Madison. Very pleased. Nice people, good food. Best tiramisu in a while, and we order tiramisu every chance we get! Got there right at 11. There was another party, and us. Got very busy by 11:10. Someone walked out with a dozen pizzas. Clearly, a restaurant favored by the locals, for good reason.
google avatar

Kendra L.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised about how good this pizza was. The crust was thin, but soft. The buffalo cheese was gooey and flavorful. Great price for a fantastic, personal sized pizza. Go ahead and grab a Cannoli to satisfy your sweet tooth.
google avatar

Sunina G.

Yelp
Was excited to try this place for dinner as I'd heard all the good reviews and It was close to my place. The place was crowded, which makes sense as it was a Friday night. The servers did a great job of managing people waiting for tables and handing out the to go orders. Here's where the bad comes. My friend and I decided to get the pesto pizza and the salsicca pizza. Both pizzas came out lukewarm and the mozzarella on both pizzas was dense and tough (probably due to it being on the colder side). The pesto pizza was bland and was missing something. The salsicca has a good flavor profile but couldn't be appreciated due to the meat being cold. Given all the positive reviews, it's possible they were having a bad night, but will not be my destination for pizza in Madison.
google avatar

Jonathan B.

Yelp
Best Neapolitan style pizza in Madison! We have ordered the Alice and Napoletana many times. There's nothing like this in Madison. We also love the Caprese as an appetizer. Generous amounts of everything. The Garbanzo salad is also big and yummy. If you want dessert the Pizza Nutella is soo good. I want to order it every time, but then I remember my health is important to me. One note I will add here is that if you don't eat much Neapolitan style pizza, it may take a little while to get used to this style. I didn't like Novanta the first time I went here because I was expecting/wanting a lot of cheese and toppings. But when I adjusted my expectations I really like it a lot now.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
This is a really cute place, and the service was phenomenal! I wasn't aware it was an order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you kind of place, but I don't mind that. There was outdoor seating too! It's hard to find Whole30 compliant meals out to eat, but you can build your own salad- and it was huge! I had mixed greens, tons fresh vegetables (mushrooms, peppers, and onions), and they cook EVERYTHING there in olive oil (necessary for Whole30 - they took the time to answer all of my questions) so you can add chicken too! The prosciutto was phenomenal! The salad dressing was simple & delicious olive oil with vinegar. The pizzas and menu looked and smelled so good, I definitely would come back to try one of those! Would definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Michele H.

Yelp
Highly recommend!! My bestie and I had a wonderful birthday lunch yesterday at Novanta on Old Sauk Road. The service is just as amazing as the food! They even treated us to cannolis as they knew we were celebrating a birthday! I can't wait to go back!!

Yelp
Great pizza and crust. Don't forget to ask for anchovies. Fast and courteous service.
