Novo Brazil Brewing - Otay Ranch

I was a little hesitant to come to this brewery because of some of the bad reviews I read however my experience was good. Costumer service was excellent, the servers were attentive and always asking if I needed something. Maybe because I went on a time when there wasn't that many people. Happy hours deals are good. Other reviews mention the food is expensive but compared to other restaurants in the mall the prices are very competitive. Food is good. The French fries were addictive and empanadas and chimichurri on point. The fish Taco was OK. I tried 4 different beers, you have a lot of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks To choose from. I didn't like all the beers I tried however that's something normal when trying beers. Overall, I had a good experience I will come back and try their Kombuchas and other beers. 🍺 🍻

This place is a straight-up disaster when it comes to customer service. We showed up around 5:30 p.m. when it was calm, and somehow the service was already slow. By 6:30–7:00 it got busy, and the staff completely fell apart. We finished our food and still sat there for almost TWO hours waiting for our bill. That’s ridiculous. I ordered the rib eye medium rare, and whoever decided to serve a steak on a cutting-board style plate should never plate food again. The center was cooked right, but that board sucked every bit of juice out of the meat like a sponge. They basically turned a decent rib eye into dry, overpriced beef jerky. For what they charge, it’s a joke. Honestly, they should be paying me for wasting my time and appetite. Hard pass on ever coming back here. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time.

For starters, the entire restaurant is covered with TVs, giant ones. Thats the only decor in the entire place, giant TVs on every wall. All showing the same game, no variety. And when you look around, it’s quite noticeable that the football game is more important to the staff than actually doing their job, which is to serve customers. I had to go to the bar to fill up my own water, twice, even after asking for water. Our food came out one plate at a time over the span of 25 minutes, each brought by a different server. Each plate was cold and not appetizing to look at, let alone eat!! By the time our fifth guest got his plate the rest of us were done eating. The person who took our order, never even brought us a single plate of food. We saw her only when she took our order, and when she brought the bill. We asked for silverware twice as our plates were being delivered. The food was absolutely subpar. I paid $20 for the avocado salad. It was not even close to being worth $10. We paid $17 for a bowl of yucca fries that were undercooked, cold and barely a serving size for one person. This place went down by far as one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had and I feel absolutely wrong for having given them any money at all. It’s obvious that the only thing that’s important to them is serving beer and watching football. The steak plates were ridiculously over priced, tough to chew, cold and over cooked. They might call it top sirloin, but it’s not, it was chuck roast at best. The food was garbage, the service was garbage. I am Never going back there again!! Save your money and ho to a restaurant that is actually trying to serve quality food!!

Even though they were also busy, the staff immediately told me to come in and assured me they would do their best to take care of us. And they absolutely did. They welcomed my group with kindness, professionalism, patience, and genuine customer service. My party of over 30 guests was accommodated smoothly, and everyone had a fantastic time. The food was great, the drinks were amazing, and the overall experience far exceeded anything I could have expected last minute on a Saturday night. This location truly saved my birthday. Instead of the stressful disaster it could have become, the Otay Ranch team created an evening filled with fun, good energy, and really positive memories with my friends and family. A huge thank you to the entire Otay Ranch staff for going above and beyond. They have absolutely earned a loyal customer in me — and in everyone who attended.

By far the best service EVER.. I had experience a wonderful service I was choking on a steak and all the employees rushed for assistance in the Heimlich maneuver and they had and ambulance and fire department show up in seconds. I was very much appreciated the service they provided it. Also want to include the other guest that provided assistance with my rescue and I don't know who the nurse was but I thank you once more again for this great service. Also the Food and Drinks were delicious.. And thank you to the waiter that called the 911 and calming down my husband. 💛👏🏻

Love coming to this spot! Great food and drinks. Highly recommend the Sunset Slam kombucha and Carne Asada Fries or Nachos - enough to share for two. The staff is super accommodating as well with small and large parties. 10/10 recommend.

Delicious food, large portions so order smartly. Tasty hard kombucha, oversized TV's, good vibes and amazing customer service. On Thursdays they have small businesses at the entrance where I purchased some beautiful jewelry pieces. It's family friendly and decently priced. 10 out of 10.

This place desperately needs new management. During my visit, the so-called manager was acting completely out of control. I watched him yell at multiple employees, snap his fingers at them, and even GRAB a worker by the arm right in front of customers. Who does that? He was bullying the entire staff all night. It was honestly disgusting behavior. You could feel the fear and stress in the room because of him. Instead of supporting the team, he was power-tripping, embarrassing employees, and making the restaurant look unprofessional and chaotic. If this is how management treats workers, I don’t want my money going here. Fire this guy or expect more customers to leave.

Awesome service during packed times. I came here to catch the World Series, and someone was checking in almost every 15 minutes or so which was appreciated. It was packed even though the Padres weren't playing. Food was pretty awesome! I had a burger and sweet potato fries, and that held me over the whole time. Great atmosphere, and I'd definitely come back again!

This is nice & quiet place for lunch. Friendly & attentive staff We had a burger to share and I love that I can sub the fries/mac with salad (extra charge). I love their salad

Sunday lunchtime was pretty empty at first. Lots of servers waiting to serve. But customers were beginning to arrive in their football jerseys to watch a game. Large venue with big screens and access to outdoor air and to people watch as they shop. Started with their chops, guacamole and salsa. They did fill up the chip bowl upon request. The server recommended their Pincanha Steak with Yucca Fries for a Brazilian flair. The steak was plenty but I needed veggies or rice to balance my meal. Yucca fries were crisp and a good alternative to fries. Molten cake for dessert was delicious but the coffee could have been more hot. The didn't have Brazilian coffee and my friend's coffee was lukewarm. Our servers were very attentive and I would come back to try their Empanadas and maybe some other entrees.

Novo Brazil in Otay Ranch is a pretty chill vibe. It's a perfect spot to kick back after work for a brew, quick bite to eat and to watch sports. It was our first time at this location and they have a decent happy hour menu. A very good first experience. Everyone was very friendly and our server took our order pretty fast and checked on us. Thank you!

We went with friends and had a great time. It's way bigger than I imagined and there's a great kids area for the kids to play and be entertained so the adults could have good conversations. That's a win! We got: Fish burrito - just ok Novo burger - delicious, juicy and the fries are seasoned and delish! Ensenada plate - a healthy fish plate option Kids Mac and cheese - just ok Quad beer - husband liked it the more he sipped Hard kombucha flight - I got a custom of the favorites flight. I chose watermelon mint which was mintier than I wanted so wasn't my fav. The peachy leechy was quite lovely. The dragon fruit was pretty but didn't have like a distinct flavor that made it stand out. I didn't realize I could just get one if I wanted - otherwise I should've just done that. Tried the yucca fries and it was a nice change up to the regular fry but it didn't come seasoned. Our friend's food got forgotten sadly but other than that the service was good. By the door it's a little chilly when it's windy. Overall, enjoyed our experience!

A bit disappointed . I came to this place just curious about a TV interview I saw a while back given to the owner who seems so excited and happy and who was talking about Brazilian food too. Well, the restaurant we went to was in Otay. (Not sure how the other restaurants are) From the host to the bar tender and the servers and waitresses, OMG!! Everyone looked like they were having a bad day! No smiles, not making you welcome, no hospitality business oriented crowd. I wanted my daughter to taste caipirinhas and empanadas. It took too long! My advice to the owner is to at least bring cold waters and chips or yucas or fried plantain to munch while you wait. The place wasn't crowded around 4:pm so not sure as why it took so long! Also the music. There is a big amount of Brazilian rock music that they could play, instead very American. If you're selling Brazilian let's make it Brazilian. Then we ordered our dinner. The food was great! I got the vegetarian bowl and my daughter got the picanha. Perfect portion and well served. I also have to add that the empanadas were great with a lot of meat. Chimichurri was amazing. So food was great but very pricey, caipirinha was just like having a lemonade. Since is it a brewery I also suggest the owner to train the waitress to bring into the initial conversation their favorite beer and maybe bring a few samples to the table. Or give the customers some advice as what to get. Anyway, the place will be a fun venue to watch soccer games in 2026. Hopefully some changes will be made by then and this business will become what the owner was selling on TV.

Food is always a hit here vs other locations we've visited. Service is great - Lots of servers that go around attending the tables! Great place to chill and watch sports on the big screen.

My go to when visiting Otay. Good happy hour and tasty wings. I went crazy and tried kombucha which was refreshing. Great wings

I've been coming here once a week since my birthday weekend and it's all because of Daniel's excellent customer service! He's such a sweetheart and is always attentive to our party. Definitely will be here regularly because of this amazing service :)

The Carne Asada Fries were good and very filling. I loved the sport bar feel, but it was bigger with a small play area for kids. The service was also really good. I went on a Saturday night and the music was good (but loud).

Love this place! Food is a bit pricey but it's really good. There are multiple servers walking around all the time so you always have a chance to order something if you need it. They also have HUGE screens inside that fill up the entire wall so it's the perfect place for watching sports.

Great place to go with a group of friends and try their different beers. Have been in for a big party as well and it's great for groups. I enjoy their burger and fries. Service is always great.

Hiram was our Server. He was very attentive, very informative. He took time to explain everything we asked about the menu in detail. He was very good about bringing the extra things that we asked for our table. He even brought us extra boxes to take home our leftover birthday cake we brought in. Location is great. There's plenty to do and even farmers market on Tuesday I think. They have a variety of drink from cocktails to kombucha. Service was okay. It was pretty slow when I visited. The menu I was handed was incomplete so I wasn't aware of their happy hour. They have a bunch of tv's and they show ufc fights which is a plus.

Ambiance is nice and family friendly The food was very tasty. I got steak and chicken parm with Alfredo pasta juicy and tasty. My only take is portion size was slightly poor considering the high price. Good kids playground to play, thought some things don't appear to be working. Overall good family friendly restaurant/bar. Will come again.

Great food- best place to watch the games- everyone is friendly and attentive! Like it's family - One of few places that have a fantastic Stout - Corvo coconut - omg bomb - I'm over ipa! The ambiance is perfect for game day - huge screens- plus when fights are going on- A great place for a big party everyone has something to do-

I wanted to checkout this place since it is close to my home. What a disappointment worst ceviche I had ever have, we ordered chips and salsa (salsa horrible horrible just taste it twice couldn't eat it) the guacamole came out dark smh ‍ we spend $125 for 2 no drinks all the food was bad the server didn't even ask if we like it. Don't waste your money here just got to chili's next door at least their food is consistent and it is ate-able. Service is not good either.

This place has really good drinks but the food is not the best. This place needs to really step up their game in the kitchen. Every time I stop by I'm excited for their drinks but not so much for the food. The service is okay not good but not bad just average. This place has so much potential they just need more flavor in that kitchen. I love watching fights here with friends.

This place is in a shopping center, so parking is plentiful. The brewery is also huge so it's really good for large groups of 10, 20, or even 30+ people. The menus are scanned QR code, lots of beer selections to choose from, and the ones I had were very tasty. My friend and only stayed for 2 drinks a person, so we didn't get food or anything else. When we first got there, many workers came in to check in on us when we weren't quite ready to order, but once we were ready to order, nobody batted an eye towards us. Would recommend this spot and would definitely come back.

This place is huge!!! Tons of seating, lots of giant screens playing sports, music playing, monster selection of beers and flavored kombuchas. Food was great as well. Lots of servers and bar hops that keep circling the tables to make sure your glass is full and your tables clean. The place a huge kids play area in the back and a few sections for private parties. It felt half sports bar and half restaurant. It was very loud and lively. They also had a small area outside as well.

Let me just say this: if you're going to Novo Brazil Brewery, do yourself a favor and ASK FOR DANIEL. He gave us the kind of service that makes you want to write a full-on Yelp essay review which is exactly what I'm doing. We came in just for drinks specifically their incredible hard kombucha and even though we weren't ordering food or a full spread, Daniel treated us like VIPs from the jump. You know when someone has that perfect mix of professionalism, personality, and genuine good vibes? That's Daniel. He greeted us warmly, introduced himself with a smile, and instantly made us feel welcome. We told him we were there for kombucha and he lit up this man KNOWS his stuff. He walked us through the flavors like a true expert, asked what kind of tastes we were into and he recommended the absolute best choices based on our preferences. Every drink he suggested was a hit. From the to the watermelon to the peach to the mango flavors we were blown away. I swear he could turn any kombucha skeptic into a believer. You could tell he really cared that we enjoyed everything and wasn't just rushing through to get to the next table. And the service? Flawless. He was super attentive and, checked on us at the perfect times, kept the conversation friendly and fun, and made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. We weren't even there that long but he made us feel like regulars. Honestly, Daniel made our whole visit. His energy, knowledge, and customer service were on another level. We left smiling and already planning our next visit partly for the kombucha, but mostly for him. Novo Brazil, if you're reading this: hold onto this guy. He's a gem. Promote him, reward him, name a drink after him whatever it takes. He deserves all the recognition. We came for the kombucha. We stayed for Daniel. 10/10 would recommend.

We came her on a Friday night and the ambiance was cool and there were hardly any people there. Time was about 6 pm and the Padres game was going to be on. Staff was on top of everything asking if we needed anything and more than one server approached us. They took our drink orders and got right to it. This place is known for its kombucha and I got a peach flavoured one. There is an option of half pint and pint. I went with the pint size and it was pretty good. Kombucha tasted pretty much like a beer with a slight peach flavour. It was okay. Other members of my table ordered other flavours and the mango one tasted pretty good. Food was ordered and it looked pretty good. I ordered a California burrito which tasted kind of okay. I've had better at the local taco shops. Overall this place is good due to the service and ambiance. Probably won't be back unless someone suggests it again.

Showed up to watch a SDFC game, saw Padres game going on 2 screens and Dodgers on 2 screens. Asked if they could change one of the tvs and was told we'd have to wait 30 min past kick off. Fine- we waited and then after multiple check ins, 30 min +, we ordered a meal for our family and was still ignored. DONT COME HERE TO WATCH SDFC. They'd rather show out of town teams. Beyond lame

I came here to watch the NFL Draft with some friends. Novo has tv's all around, and they are huge screens. My buddies are beer-drinkers, so they were curious about coming here. I had been here once before so I knew what to expect. I ordered way too much food. I ordered onion rings, hot wings, an Avocado salad with chicken, and a whole bunch of beer. My salad was HUGE! I finished it, but could not finish the rest. My friends really enjoyed the beers and the service. Allyssa was our waitress and she was amazing! Everything was accurate and very prompt. We will definitely be back with more friends.

I've been to Novo multiple times but finally got around to posting a review. I think it was a great addition to the mall! It's a great family friendly place that gets packed when there's major sporting events. There's a small play area for the little ones as well so it caters to many ages! There's plenty of seating and parking definitely isn't an issue because there is the whole back lot. Service is great. Everyone is friendly, constantly checking in on you and there's constantly plenty of staff on the floor. My friend and I went on a Saturday afternoon and got seats right away even when there was a Padre game going on. We got the mozarella sticks appetizer and I really liked breading. It wasn't too oily and heavy. And personally, that cheese pull was spot on. There was something different about their breading, it had like ths different taste that I can't exactly pinpoint but I liked it a lot. My friend had the western burger and she liked it a lot. It wasn't dry and it actually wasn't heavy. She liked the onion rings that were in there. She liked that the breading was more battered and not so crumby. She would give it an 8/10. I got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and I liked it a lot. The Buffalo taste was really good and its what I was looking for! The chicken wasn't dry and I liked the bacon. Also, Novo fries are some of my favorite! They have good taste and the perfect crisp! My only flaw is that it does tend to be a little on the pricier end. Both the sandwich and burger were around $17 and the appetizer was around $11. But I definitely will be back. I think the quality is very close to matching the price! I haven't had a disappointing Novo experience so I'll be back again!

Good ambience for a large crowd which they can easily accommodate. Huge projectors/TVs for sports. Drinks - Good selection. I love their Hard Kombucha. Food - Now we have been here a few times. I always want to give their food another chance but honestly, the food isn't that great especially for the price. Chicken skewers with rice and beans - Rice was undercooked and cold - Beans cooked well - Chicken was seasoned well Fish and chips - very oily My husband had to use a napkin to absorb the oil. Onion rings - very oily - seems like they were fried twice I don't know if they need to change their oils but the food shouldn't be drenched in that much oil. Empanadas - Over fried and cheese was dry. Burger - Meat was over cooked and cheese dried up.

I am updating my review. I went to NOVO Friday with some friends and I am still dreaming about those carne asada fries. They have broadened their menu and their alcohol selection. I highly recommend this place for sure.

I just wanted to come on here and leave my most honest opinion about this place, because truthfully I have gone a few times and so honestly the food and the drinks are never the issue, well the food sometimes, but the drinks and especially the booches ( sunset slam) never miss. I enjoy the community and how a lot of people come together to this spot to hang out, good music, and good company, but what isn't sitting right with me is an incident I witnessed Friday between what I believe was the general manager with the blonde hair and one of the small busser girls who is always very nice to our table, I witnessed a grown man who towers over the girl proceeding to yell at this small girl for her asking him for help with a table next that was next to us because our server wasn't around. The manager tends to walk around the building talking to most of the tables and being friendly, but with his own staff it's very shocking to witness how he treats and speaks to them because the staff at novo are really kind always, slow sometimes, but never rude or dismissive, I usually would never go out of my way to post something like this but genuinely, it did not sit right with me. Just like I was starring at the incident unfold the majority of the restaurant sitting next to the bar where this happened were watching too and truthful it was just so disgusting to witness someone who is in charge treat there staff in that manner. I will continue to go and enjoy Novo nonetheless but I hope the manager can take note of this or someone acknowledge what happened because that young girl did not need to be getting yelled at by a large grown man, that was a conversation to have in private if there was an issue with her asking for help!

4 stars for service, food and ambiance. 3 stars for drinks. Service : all employees are friendly. Open seating when you walk in. Super spacious inside. Plenty of tvs to watch sports and lots of room for activities. There's even a kids section tucked away in the corner with a mini playground and arcade games. Food was pretty good! We ordered the carne asada bowl, Ensenada plate and veggie medley for our daughter. All three meals were cooked fresh and flavorful. I love how tender the mahi mahi was for the Ensenada plate and the veggies were too. Soft enough for my toddler to chew. The rice it came with was buttery but tasty. We'd definitely come back for the food! The drinks were interesting. We ordered the passion fruit mojito (sweet, a lot going on), and Brazilian sake (hellla strong). Drinks are strong but a little too much going on for our liking. Their menu selection is huge. Next time we go, we'll try other drinks. We were so hungry, we didn't take pictures. I'll update my review with pictures next time!

Huge, spacious brewery! A great place to hang out and it's pet friendly! Yummy eats, especially the meat empanadas. I had a hard seltzer which was good, but next time will try hard kombucha. Service was good, a little slow but it was busy. I'll be back!

This place has become our local hang out place for happy hour. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, outdoor you always see guests with their lovely pooches by their side. Their staff is always friendly and the food is always good. From their appetizers the yuca fries are so good, calamari, shrimp ceviche, carne asada nachos are all so good. My favorite meal is their costilla de puerco en barbecue! Though the Ensenada plate is my second favorite! If you're a kombucha fan, they got you! Tons of different options. So far I've enjoyed them all. Now, I prefer to sit outside because the inside can be WAY too loud that you can't hear the people you're sitting with at the table. They'll play sports games and when the team scores it's like you're at the stadium in person with the energy of the fans! As for me, I like to enjoy a conversation whilst not having to yell. So with good weather out door seating is best.

Tonight I Had the pleasure of Dining at Novo Brazil. The service is second to none. I had a issue with my steak . The manager Mauricio ordered me a whole new dinner plate. Which arrived to perfection. I enjoyed a cold Mango seltzer to Accompany the meal all in all it'll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant locally in Chula Vista

Came here for the first time with a few friends after a long journey from Colorado.. and I definitely found a place to relax with a real San Diego vibe.. delicious and refreshing beer complimented with amazing carne asada nachos was a solid 10/10 and the customer service was on point! This brewery is nicely located around shopping stores. It's a huge brewery with giant tv screens to display local sports games. It was super busy with so many servers coming in and out that we couldn't tell which server was dedicated to our table. The food was an 8/10 with a decent drink selection. A good place to get drinks with a bunch of friends.

Devlen greeted me upon entry - nice, hospitable, warm and friendly greeting. I have not been here since it opened, so Devlen was kind enough to take the time and help me get reacquainted with the new menu. I ordered the beef empanadas and onion rings. The empanadas were meaty! Yeah! The onion rings were large and crunchy like I like'em! Yummy!

Usually a great place to being the family. However, extremely over priced small portions. They decided to block off or reserve the entire south side, leaving the kids play area open with no seating for parents, on a Friday night. Very disappointing customer service to accommodate watching the kids play while eating.

Amazing establishment! Drinks and food were great. I really enjoyed the Watermelon Mint and the Sunset Slam. The Novo Burger was cooked perfectly. Service was amazing! Our server George was very attentive and willing to answer any question we had. The ambiance is great! Really appreciate how theres TV screens everywhere for sports fans to enjoy any major sporting event. I highly recommend coming here for any sports events, casual outings, or if you just want yummy food and drinks!

Carne asada was dry and no flavor. The meat in the empanadas dry too. The tacos had a huge scoop of Guacamole... too big for the tiny taco. The fish was actually good. The drinks were strong. Come for the drinks...not their food. Lots of cafeteria like tables by number. Giant big screens to watch sports. Some of the waiters and servers looked miserable... one girl was super friendly and chatty. They brought us out 2 cheesecakes and candles for me and sisters' birthday.

During a recent Las Jefas vendor market at Otay Ranch Town Center, a friend and I stopped in for a bite to eat. It was a seat yourself situation and there was definitely plenty of seating. It took a little bit for our waiter to get over to us and get our order. It also took awhile to receive our order & we didn't receive all of it. We had to ask several times for our last plate of food and for water refills. I ordered the strawberry salad, which was really good. A bit too much of the strawberry vinaigrette, but other wise it was delicious. All in all it was a decent experience. I'm willing to visit again to see if the service is any better.

Novo has been my go to bar for about 4 year now and it's been like that for a reason. This place is amazing the service and the drinks are out of this world. My love for hard kombucha grow here immensely as well as for their IPAz if you are looking for a great spot with food and drinks that are nothing like what you're probably used to this is the place to be at. Plus they have all the fights and I'll fights and sports games with a huge tvs for everyone to enjoy. Like i said there is a reason why it became my favorite spot everything you want is here

The Otay ranch location is a classic staple in chula for a casual drink and bar food but with a Brazilian twist. This is also a great place to watch a game or fight with how packed it gets; the atmosphere gets exciting and heated. Even if you don't like kombucha they offer lots of alcohol/drink options for everybody (even non alcoholic). I've had a lot of their food items but for some reason the Mac and cheese is just so good here with the added Brazilian sausage. If you don't want to sit inside where it's a bit noisy, outside is a great option in front at the picnic tables. Love coming here and will continue to stop in every now and then.

Came in here for some drinks and food. Sat down and waited about 15 min for someone to take our order. Had to call someone to our table and he said he never came over because he had just gotten back from break and assumed someone else helped us. Took our drink orders and then told us we couldn't have our pretzels in there. I've been to every other novo Brazil and never had an issue. For it being such a slow day they didn't want our business.

We liked to come here until they started "running" out of the happy hour items. The problem is they don't substitute the items for anything else. So if you come here & they don't have what you want, too bad, so sad. Instead, pay twice as much for something you don't want when you come during the specific timeframes.

Bringing it down to a 3. Haven't been back in a few months and it seemed like the prices were raised and the portions became muuuuch smaller. Food went from good to somewhat decent. Ordered a side of onion rings with our meal and app and received 4, when they would serve almost a plate full. The onion rings felt stale and one still had un-fried batter inside it. Pretty disappointing.
