An Eater’s Guide to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Weekend | Eater Houston

"The large stadium hosting the two hometown shows is expected to draw massive crowds, with remaining ticket prices having soared (reported in the low hundreds to several thousand dollars for floor spots). Attendees should prepare for heavy traffic, packed seating areas, and intense sensory elements—pyrotechnics, towering pillars of fire, glittering effects, and strobe-like lighting—so those with light- or sound-sensitivities should take precautions; plan transit carefully (rail, buses, parking maps, or rideshares) and expect long waits before and after the show." - Jesse Sparks

We have been here plenty of times to know that this is one of our favorite venues that is so spacious, plenty of drinks, plenty of options for food and plenty of fun! The rodeo was amazing we saw Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton which was an amazing time! We love this stadium 💓💓

Alex Ochoa

Google
Most of my visits have been during rodeo season but this last time was the best so far. They held the Soceer gold cup final and the venue did an amazing job. It gives me so much hope for the world cup games next year. The lines all moved quickly. The staff was friendly and organized. I had to wear a jacket during the game because the ac air was so crisp even though we were in a room with over 70k people.

Google
Best venue for concerts truly. Best rodeo venue!! NRG is just so versatile. And being directly on the Metro rail, it’s very convient for transportation to and from if you don’t want to park here. Also a lot of nearby apartments that are in walking distance so if you have a friend living nearby you can park at their place and walk over super easily. Honestly there’s no bad seats in the house.

Google
This is definitely one of my least favorite venues. Sound and view were great, but the lack of preparation for the crowd for the Metallica concert was extremely disappointing. There was zero crowd control to efficiently get people in through the appropriate gates. It was absolute chaos and took longer than it needed to. There should be way more scanners to get a population of that magnitude in.

I had an AMAZING time at NRG Stadium this weekend! I saw Beyoncé for the second time, this time on her Cowboy Carter Tour! I sat in section 548, row C, Seat 8. I was practically in the middle of the venue and had an awesome view. Most of the staff was lovely, and I'll definitely be back in the future.

Google
Came to see Metallica 6/14🤘😎 It was packed as we would of imagined but the experience was really great. I would recommend parking on the other side of the street to avoid being stuck for hours in the main NRG parking. Food was expensive and not good for the prices. Overall I had a great time.

Ronnie Layton

Google
Went to the rodeo here. It is fun with a lot to do and see. Loved the animals and seeing their babies. The food and drinks are way too expensive. You buy a drink for $10/15 and before you finish it. You have to get rid of it before going into concert or rides.

Google
Before you go, research parking lots relevant to seating. Every time I've gone, the stadium—bathrooms included—has been well maintained and consistently clean. With the exception of each floors smoking area, which are less so. The staff and vendors are always friendly and helpful, too. My only complaint would be the outdoor escalator/ramp system, and how difficult and time consuming it is to navigate between floors.

Yelp
Good venue for football, concerts, the rodeo and other events. That said, it's getting a little tired. Opened in 2002, I don't believe they have made any meaningful updates, upgrades or changes. That said, if you want to see certain events, you get what you get. Overall, it's a good venue and acoustics are decent. Did I mention that there is a retractable roof? I guess that's sort of new given it's never used. Food and beverage is what you'd expect - hot dogs, burgers, nachos and other stadium fare with some local restaurants sprinkled in too. Enjoy!

Yelp
I experienced a concert at NRG Stadium for the first time (Beyoncé) and have some mixed feelings. If you go with a group, I actually do recommend parking in one of their lots. I parked in the green lot and for 3 people, it was $18 each. It made walking to the stadium and leaving very quick. Of course, there was a lot of traffic leaving the stadium, but at least you're in the comfort of your own vehicle. I made the mistake of taking the light rail one night after the first concert and it took over an hour just to get on a train because of the crowds. It was so hot and crowded on the train platforms, so I highly suggest parking your own car at the stadium. The food at the stadium is alright and a bit expensive as you can expect. The chicken tenders are dry and not very flavorful but there are a lot of sauce stations to help out with that. My biggest gripe though was the merch lines. They were super unorganized especially as you get closer to the cashiers. It's like a giant cluster of people in front of the table. I think they need someone to help manage the lines so that the workers can help everyone out without feeling overwhelmed. A big tip I have is to take the stairs after the concert instead of the ramp, it saves a lot of time as the ramp will take you at least 20+ minutes to get down because of the crowds. Other than that, it was pretty easy to find my seat and my view wasn't bad even from the 500s section.

Yelp
Everything is bigger in Texas! And that's why NRG is BIG! We end up going every few years when another grandkid graduates from high school. This year was one of those years. Often they do several schools on a Saturday or Sunday so the place is always so crowded with people arriving as a school is leaving. This year our granddaughter's school was the only one on a Friday night so it wasn't too bad at all. We did have to make the trip from home through the city at rush hour so that took a long time but finally got into the parking lot. Luckily my wife has a handicap placard so we got up front spaces with a shorter walk. Once inside we got seated and within an hour the event started. Granddaughter was in the C's so we had a long wait after to leave but in the end it was all worth it to see her walk across the stage and get her diploma. We always take some pictures out in the parking lot, this year was no different. Overall this is a nice stadium, very up to date and modern, clean restrooms and staff is nice. About the only thing I find a bit concerning is the cost of parking but that is not controlled by NRG but by the Harris County Sports Authority.

Yelp
Wow - What a well oiled machine!! Yes items are expensive, and yes you best be prepared to walk, but those are the negatives. The positives are everything else. Having been there for shows, exhibits, and games, every time we went there it was such a great experience. The food services are well maintained, operate quickly, and have consistent quality. The security staff are fantastic, as they maintain the perfect balance of allowing the fun, and maintaining safety. They are also not power-tripping d**ks, as I have experienced in other venues. The screens and other communication elements are fantastic, and easily viewable and readable. All in all - this is a great place to take in an event!

Yelp
NRG Stadium (formerly Reliant Stadium for us Houstonians) is a multi-purpose venue that serves as home for the Houston Texans, the headquarters for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and can seat up to 72,220 patrons. I've never been to a Texans game, but for concerts, it's a massive venue where you can find food in every corner and floor -- prepare to wear your walking boots!! There are a multitude of gates and doors, I would advise studying the layout of parking and entrances before heading in to avoid the extra and unnecessary steps. SEATING: Horrendous. The rows are closely built together and with the amount of alcohol people drink, you can easily get beer poured all over you if the person above misses a step. In addition to the spacing, the seats are hard and uncomfortable. I would recommend bringing in seat cushions (smaller than 18", no pockets/zippers). BAG POLICY: Clear bags are preferred, but tiny bags 4.5"x6.5" are permitted FOOD: As expected, overpriced. They've gotten so good at making money, you can now tap your card in some stations upon arrival, pick your food items and walk right on out where your card will be charged after the event.

Yelp
Second visit at NRG, and a second memorable experience! My first visit was for Taylor Swift, and this one was for the rodeo. We were dropped off by an uber at the drop off spot and then transported via tram to the entrance of the rodeo. I'm from St. Louis, the closest rodeo we have in Missouri is in the bootheel (Sikeston). Sikeston was minuscule compared to this. It was so awesome and an incredible experience. We grabbed food and drinks first (pizza on a stick- 11/10) and hung out in the designated wine garden area. We then went to our all inclusive seating area for Parker McCullom and holy smokes it was amazing! The food was well stocked, staff was so kind and friendly, and the rotating stage was awesome. We were lucky enough to snag VIP parking and got out of the lot quickly. It was well organized. I had a great experience!

Yelp
Came to NRG stadium for Metallica. It is a massive venue and it was very overwhelming. The line to get to the floor was ridiculously long and it took forever to get through. I liked that the staff were friendly and helpful when we asked them questions. The fact that it is so big makes it perfect for concerts and large events, I just wished it was better organized.

Yelp
NRG Stadium is a very large venue, and it can feel overwhelming, especially during major events. I've attended both concerts and high school graduations here. The parking areas are labeled, but not as clearly as at some other venues, so it's not unusual to see people (myself included) wandering around trying to find their car, often using the panic button on the key fob for help. During concerts, the lines for the restrooms are extremely long, and concession prices are very high--but that's fairly typical for large venues these days. The staff at concerts is usually friendly and helpful, which makes a big difference in the overall experience. Graduations, however, seem to be handled differently. The staff for those events often comes across as impatient and unwelcoming, especially in the parking areas. I've seen employees shouting at parents and grandparents in extreme heat, which feels unnecessary and unprofessional. It would be helpful if the venue trained staff to be more understanding during those kinds of events.

Yelp
Growing up in Houston, I know how tough it is to keep fit enough to keep up with your competition, as I was a Houston Oilers fan and loved the pioneer black quarterback, Warren Moon throw beautiful long bomb passes in the Houston Astrodome. I am glad that the energy is being carefully managed and disbursed through the energy recovery processes now available. Cheers, Mark C. Fearing, Ph.D.

Yelp
Okay let's discuss NRG Stadium. Babbbbyyy it is low rent. No wonder the owner is trying to con us into paying for a new one. No Going to a concert at NRG should have required reading. This is because to start how do you find the entrance??!! I had to walk 4 score and 20 years to even get to the entrance...then the staff that were working the door weren't helpful at all. I made a loop before someone finally correctly directed me on getting to my floor seats. Let's discuss the rideshare area the signage also sucks! I walked around united states before I found it and to say the least it's a sh it show... additionally I waited 40 mins my lyft never made it to the pick up spot. Can we say inefficient... NRG owner drop some millions and fix this ish. The experience was rude.

Yelp
Parking pissed me off so much but unfortunately I couldn't walk well and had to do what I had to do, pay an exuberant amount to park and that wasn't even the $65 lot but $40 next door and hobble to the entrance which aren't even labeled that well. Luckily we kept asking, found it and parked nearby. In the gate, up the escalator and our section was literally right there. Thank God cause my leg would not let me be great. People's food around me honestly didn't look that great. I wasn't climbing stairs to venture back up and following a special diet so it didn't even matter. I'm a *wait for it* Cowboys fan at heart but I still cheer for the Texans. I'm not choosing and middle finger, you can't make me lol but I paid all that money for the Texans to not bring their A game and surprisingly, the Cowboys actually won that day with the awful season they are having vs. the great one the Texans are having, Anyway, after the game, the lady manning the section called for me wheelchair assistance and I was so grateful because those stairs almost took me out and having to walk to the car was a nightmare. They took me to the closest sign outside and not the entrance but I was thankful for at least that. We ended up sitting on a ledge because they closed down Kirby to everyone "but VIPs" (their words) and the traffic was awful. Dealing with all of that really sours the experience. Next time I go, definitely researching alternatives.

Yelp
Texans games. College football. Pro soccer games. Those are just a few of the things available at NRG. Our latest was college football to watch the mighty Bearkats against Airforce . Sitting on the 50 yard line was a plus. (Thanks Evan for the great seats). It was nice to see their tributes to the military with support around the stadium to support military mental health and the drill team performances. The stadium was easy to get into and out of but be prepared to pay a premium for parking $43 with tax for most spaces. Otherwise, would recommend catching a game or event and maybe an Uber ride if really crowded.

Yelp
Located near the Medical Center and Rice University in Houston Texas, NRG Stadium is the home of the NFL Houston Texans. The purpose of my quick trip to Houston was to watch the Chicago Bears play the Houston Texans in the 2nd game of the 2024 NFL season. My daughter wasn't able to make the trip, so my sister in law was able to take her place for the game. It is accessible via public transit light rail, though it took us a bit of a walk to get to the entrance. The walk meant passing by quite a few tailgates in the parking lot. We entered the stadium about 90 minutes before kickoff. All tickets were digital, requiring the use of the Ticketmaster app to get inside via an electronic reader. There are two ways to get near the top: by taking busy and long escalators or walking the wide ramps. We took the ramps because of the line for escalators...next time, I would wait for the escalators. The ramps are not steep, but extremely long and winding, allowing a large amount of people to use them at the same time, but also making the walk very lengthy. It was easy to find our seats. The seats are typical for a stadium, with decent cushion for the back and the steep incline of each row made visibility good (unless of course the person if front of you is standing up). In our area, there was a good mix of Bears and Texan fans cheering. It is a retractable roof, great for those rainy nights. This night was clear skies and not too muggy. What's crazy is that the AC throughout the stadium was on full blast so you would pass by these very cold spots in the stadium, while the roof was literally off. I was expecting to pass by any moment a daughter arguing with her frugal dad about why she needed to close all windows when turning on the AC, if the Texans don't do it. Oh...and they use artificial turf. At halftime, we decided to switch seats. I bought 4 tall boys (2 Coors lights, 1 Corona, 1 Modelo: the best selling beer in the US now). Modelo and Corona are considered imports and cost more than the coors. The total with tip came out under $50 which I guess isn't too bad for concession stand beer. My brother got some brisket nachos which was great to share. Nachos are bad for you, so might as well like it with the cheese flavored food sauce (nacho sauce)...it went very well with the good shredded brisket. Salty and greasy...perfect with the beer. We left a little early, so didn't experience what the crush of people would have been like on the light rail just afterwards...but at least it didn't require a bus first like it does in Los Angeles. I was hoping that this game would be the first time I saw da Bears win in person (I've been to quite a few games). Oh well....hopefully next time.

Yelp
My family and I came down for the houston rodeo, specifically Black hertiage night. This Vin Yu is absolutely humongous plus the grounds where they had the carnival, so much room. I don't know what other kind of festivals that I held here. But it's definitely massive period the only gripe I would say it's because our concert was in March. They definitely did not need the AC running. It was freezing the whole concert!
google avatar

Ly N.

Yelp
Many will complain that prices are outrageous but what do you expect from a venue as large as it is? I personally have had great experiences here as a paying customer. The stadium's architecture and offerings in comparison to other cities is unbeatable!
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
Enjoyed Kendrick Lamar and SZA. HUGH Stadium, but Trill Burger was closed. Restroom were clean with many food and drink stations set around.

Zac M.

Yelp
I've been to a lot of venues, but NRG Stadium might take the cake for worst overall experience. Let's start with the drink prices -- $15 for a beer when we walked in. Outrageous, right? Well buckle up, because as the concert started, that same beer magically jumped to $28. Not a cocktail. Not a double. Just a basic beer. Either the price tags were changing or someone behind the counter thinks they're selling liquid gold. Now onto the seating -- if you're over 5'8" or weigh more than a high school freshman, good luck. The seats are microscopic. I was basically sitting in a child's car seat, shoulder-to-shoulder with a guy who sounded like he snuck in a BBQ buffet under his shirt. I didn't get a concert -- I got 3 hours of elbow wrestling with Porky the Pig. For a place this big, you'd think they'd get the basics right. But between the absurd prices, sardine-can seating, and lack of crowd control, it was a hot mess from start to finish. Spend your money somewhere else. Or at the very least, bring your own seat and sneak in a drink -- you'll save a fortune and your dignity.

Yelp
NRG Stadium, home of the Houston Rodeo, is a spectacle that's as Texan as it gets. To address one thing upfront: some of the animal-related events aren't for everyone, and certainly not for me. I did learn about one event which was the only event I went to here that was pure wholesome good fun. It's called Mutton Bustin', and it's where 5 to 6-year-olds wearing protective gear, cling to sheep as they run across a track. It's equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. The best part is hearing these small cowboys and cowgirls share their dreams. In 2024, it seems the old standbys of astronaut and firefighter have been replaced by YouTuber and cop. Welcome to modern Texas, I guess. When it comes to food, the Houston Rodeo is where your arteries come to die, and I loved every minute of it. We're talking deep-fried lasagna, deep-fried Reeses, deep-fried cake, but the one going down in the morlene history book is eating deep-fried butter. It was surprisingly good! The venue itself is a mixed bag. It's sweltering hot - you'll sweat in places you didn't know could sweat. But despite the crowds, it's clean and easy to navigate. The central location is a plus, making it accessible for locals and tourists alike. Is the Houston Rodeo a must-see? If you're looking for an quintessential Texan experience, absolutely. It's a one-and-done for me, but I'm glad I went. Where else can you watch a kindergartener ride a sheep, eat deep-fried butter, and get a sunburn all in one day? Only in Texas.

Yelp
Visited for the Ravens game and Bey halftime show on Christmas. Getting to the stadium from the train was PERFECT. Entering the stadium was a breeze and the ticket employees were very nice even though it was clear we were there to see the Ravens WIN!! NRG stadium Houston Boot souvenir cups were nice, had no clue how much they were but I had to have one. Overall, Houston has a nice stadium. GOOOOOO RAVENS!!!!!!

Yelp
Greta arena that is pretty easy to enter and exit. May have to walk a little bit to parking but it is a reliable place for sports games, concerts, events, and everything in between!

Yelp
I liked that they had ramps, escalators and elevators to get to the various levels. Also they had plenty of rest rooms for men, women and families. I was in the 600 section, I considered it the nose bleed section. While it was slightly difficult to climb the steep stairs for me, it did look like that even if a person in front of me wanted to dance or stand that it would not block my view too much. My complaint is the chairs in that section were small in my opinion. The steel side pieces of the chair were digging in my hips after the first act. Also the acoustics were bad in there. I know it was built to be a football stadium and not specifically a concert hall. Luckily I know almost all the words to The Rolling Stones songs, so I could make out the lyrics, but when Mick was talking to the crowd I couldn't make out what he was saying except for a few times he mentioned Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and Cut-N-shoot.

Yelp
NRG is home to the Houston Texans and u recently visited to see the Texas state bobcats play Sam Houston. The stadium is very nice the first two floors were open with various concession stands open for food and drinks. The logistics of this place needs to worked out. There isn't a good place to get pulled up by an Uber. Just minor difficulties getting our ride overall it was a great experience to explore the city.

Yelp
The park is so worth the parking and small walk to the venue. We always look forward to attending this location.

Yelp
Nice stadium! Came here for the Final Four last year and it was cool. Stadium is huge and prices aren't too bad. There are street parking nearby if you are willing to walk!

Yelp
My first NFL game! I thoroughly enjoyed my NFL experience at the NRG stadium. I loved that the stadium was enclosed and the temperature inside was wonderful! Because they don't allow fans inside so it worked out. We had great seats and the suite seats have their own concession stands on their levels. You can roam from there to the main levels if you want. There were alot of fun activities going on to make a fun experience for everyone. Go Texans!
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
I was really excited for my first ever football game but was really surprised by the parking. I've been here for other events but the price of parking was basically the same price as my preseason ticket. And I had great seats. $50 parking was really outrageous. And it was still a 10 minute walk from there. I know, because we made the walk twice after they decline my entry. Apparently my fanny pack was too big of a bag. If it's not a clear bag, it can't be bigger than basically 3x5 inches. Typical stadium over pricing on food and drinks. $12 nachos, skimpy but tasty. I also got a frozen pina colada which was nice and strong but still ridiculously priced. The ground level seats were great with no obstructions. It was a great experience but would be nice not to have to spend so much at the stadium.

Yelp
Went to Morgan Wallen (6/20). NRG was one of the worst stadiums I have ever seen a concert in. We had floor seats, which are very expensive, and they made restrooms and bar service damn near impossible. Not to mention we had to walk all the way around the stadium to get in from the metro. They had one small bar set up for all the floor attendees outside of the stadium along with a handful of port-a-potties. So you had to literally walk out the stadium to get a drink and use the bathroom. The other alternative was to climb the stairs all the way to the 100 level amenities, but when you came back to the floor you had to put all drinks in a plastic cup even though everything was in cans. Yes, this included bottled waters...had to pour that into a cup too. Absolutely ridiculous. Some of the NRG staff were also very rude. I will never come back to NRG for a concert again. Piss poor logistics and accommodations for the money folks spent to be there. I hope future artists further evaluate the fan experience prior to booking this venue.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
I came here for the Renaissance concert. In general, the process was seamless. I would attend another event here. GLOWS: -Has a rooftop cover. Helps avoid rain delays and being wet during an entire event -Conveniently located by public transit. Getting there was so very easy. GROWS: -Lines inside could be better managed. A lot of confusion around which line was which. -Getting out of the venue was quite complicated on the long ramp

Yelp
From the staff to the stadium grounds, everything was so incredibly memorable! I went here with a friend via an invite and we got a chance to attend the rodeos legendary BBQ cook-off competition tent! So much thought and care went into the bbq! The pit master himself came around our tent offering their award winning ribs and delicious desserts. I enjoyed the sides but that BBQ certainly knocked this stadium out of the park! My friend also had a fun pack and vouchers for carnival food! We ended up trying our first ever Nutella funnel cake! Who knew fried cake could taste so good! They had plenty of rides, and things to do around the rodeo to keep us busy when we were sitting out in tents. I loved my experience here!!!

Yelp
They said everything is bigger in Texas and boy the fans and loud cheering for Texans V. Buccaneers were no difference. I'm not a fan of either teams but since vacationing in the area, I wanted to watch the game. The excitement here is unreal and fans were loud and crazy fun - painted their face/body/hair, dressed up in costumes, brought props - I'm sure the alcohol in their body aids the hype as well. The food and drinks at concession stands is no different than any other stadium. Junk food/soda/alcohol for more than double the price if you purchase it elsewhere. Lines to concession stands and restrooms are always long so get to it during the game time is probably best. Don't wait until halftime unless you don't mind the extra wait to moved and walk between the drunks and slowpokes. Overall, I had a great time here. Note: ladies, don't bring your handbag. Go online and read their bag policy. It must be certain size and clear bags is the way to go. I learned the hard way and was turned away at the bag check entrance and walked back to my car.

Yelp
Caught a football game at NRG in Houston. Staff was great and stadium was well organized.

Yelp
Came for a Texans game, plenty to do outside the stadium before the game. Great modern stadium with great views no matter where you sit & plenty of clean restrooms. If you get tix in the 600 section be ready for a steep walk. It was also pretty hot up there. I purchased the chicken tender basket which the chicken was the equivalent to a MCD's chicken nugget... and when I asked to purchase a cup of ice, I was told I had to pay the price of a soda. I used a cup my bf had and grabbed ice from the soda fountain and no one batted an eye about it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I've been here for several different events such as games, concerts, car shows, rodeo, etc and always have a positive experience. Get ready to do a lot of walking!

Yelp
Great for conventions. They have little food and drink spots. This time I noticed a vending machine for meds -like Tylenol and stuff, great idea! Parking is organized and efficient as is directions and staff on the inside. No complaints here.

Yelp
I was here for the College Football Championship between University of Michigan and the University of Washington. It was a nice place to hold it. One great thing is that it is near a rail station--and at the end of the game that made a lot of cars available to accommodate fans. It is a bit of a walk, but not much worse than the parking lots. For a game like this, they were short of souvenir stands and they ran out of a lot of items. Things were better with the food items. The food was actually pretty good, particularly a pulled pork sandwich I had. This holds a lot of fans and it was loud. One issue was that it has a retractable roof, but it was leaking. The site lines to the field were good. Overall, a good place to see a game.

Yelp
I basically had the time of my life at the New Kids on the Block concert at the Rodeo of 2023. I guess only 80s babies will understand why? I lived out my childhood dreams and enjoyed the entire show. New Kids can STILL sing and dance! All concerts at the Rodeo have a star shapped stage, so each fan gets views of the artists throughout the show. It's essentially spinning , so everyone has a chance to catch a nice view, and there should be no "bad seats." I enjoyed it. The large screens make it very easy to catch the action up close. Getting into the concert was easy enough. It was the getting out part that got a little wonky.

Yelp
What an incredible stadium. Beautiful inside. Somewhat difficult to navigate mainly because it is such a large stadium. So many food options including vegetarian and the lines moved quickly. But note this was a Christmas Eve day game. The staff were sooo friendly. Absolutely outstanding. We were rooting for the away team but every person that worked in that stadium was in party mode and greeted us with "Welcome to Game Day!" We pre-purchased parking which is very advisable. The seats were comfortable and since the roof was closed due to rain earlier in the day the temperature inside was perfect. I can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
We came here for the College Football National Championship Game and was satisfied with the stadium. The parking lots are huge and sit squarely around the stadium so there is no street parking possible. The stadium is outside of the immediate downtown area. There is a light rail I am told that will drop you off right at the stadium. The ticketing process was through the app only and some people's apps wouldn't scan because of the rain and their phones were wet. Once through security, there is a covered escalator and walkway that takes you where you need to go based on your seats once you get inside. The food selection was just ok, I didn't see any specialty foods, just your basic stuff. The bathrooms were clean and the aisles and concourses were wide. We were up at the top and since the stadium is so steep, the sight lines were good, even for my child who wouldn't normally be able to see over anyone. The stadium still felt new and modern.

Yelp
Since the stadium opened for the Texans 2002 season, I have been here for all kinds of events. #WeAreTexans! The new screens (installed several years ago) are huge! The retractable roof is rarely open during the Texans games. Parking is okay if you have a parking pass. For most events when you arrive via rideshare, the rideshare dropoff area is far and you still have to walk quite a bit. The clubhouse level (300s) are so nice! The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is always a fun and busy event.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at the Taylor Swift concert. The staff at NRG are so organized and efficient. Once we got off the metro, we were directed with staff and signs on how to get to security and inside the NRG Stadium. The stadium is clean, bathrooms essentially on every corner & there concession stands are fast and staff are friendly. Loved how easy it was to navigate the stadium and really enjoyed our time!

Yelp
Why 4 stars? Because it's a bit bland, but I don't have any major complaints. --- --- --- I have been to all 30 MLB stadiums and several NFL/NBA venues, so I'd like to think if there's anything I have an above-average expertise in, it's this. My takeaway from NRG is that it was fine. Nothing really stood out to me as unique or incredibly cool, but there are basically no negatives either. The sound was a bit off, but I realize it's hard to get that perfect in a cavernous venue like this. And there wasn't really any character to speak of, but they did try to add some fun activities outside in the parking lot. There were several games for kids, with plenty of live music everywhere. I've been to NRG a few times before but it's probably been 10+ years before this most recent visit. This time, I scored free club-level seats and the experience was pretty flawless. We could order food/drink from our seat and a server would bring it to us. I didn't have anything, so I failed to take advantage of this. But I did like having a restroom that was about 50 feet from my seat and never filled up the way that the non-club restrooms do. There were also several bars and concession stands right next to us, but again, I didn't eat/drink. I didn't do much walking around inside the stadium, other than my walk straight to our section, but I probably didn't miss anything since the club-level is one of the nicest in the stadium. In the future, I'll be back for any Cleveland Browns game, but I have no interest in the other games. Truthfully, that would remain the case whether I loved or hated NRG Stadium.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of attending the Texans/Commanders game during the weekend of November 20. Quite impressed with the layout of the stadium as it is clean inside, seats are large with space, and you get a good view of the field as our section was at the 10 yard line at section 130. The stadium was practically a Commander take over but still a handful of Texan fans to cheer their team (one of these days, they'll get it together). Food vendors are impressive with tex-mex and bbq options. Had the brisket sandwich from Killen's BBQ which I'm pleased they serve as part of the concessions. Alcohol prices are high ($11 for a beer) but that's to be expected at any sports stadium. We had parking passes in the blue lot which made it easy to park and tailgate and then leave without much trouble. Plus the staff was friendly and helpful. Being from the nation's capital and having been to Fed Ex field too many times, you appreciate a helpful stadium staff and clean functional aspects of the venue itself. No doubt I'll attend a game/event here again!

Yelp
Quick entry and hardly any security stop at the entry point. Easy access to the parking lot and plenty of ushers to help with seating. Great view and shady seats too.

Yelp
The Texans fans might be the friendliest fans in the world. You accept me with my Eagles-Vick jersey on with open arms! The stadium itself could use some updating, doesn't matter. It's the people that make this stadium amazing. GO BIRDS!!!!

Yelp
I got to go to the Rodeo for the first time ever! The place is huge!! The events are so serious and many companies and people are involved! Carnival was fun and the shows in the stadium were also awesome! I'm not used to attend a big event like this but once in awhile it's a good one! There are many food shops but they are almost all meat based so it's difficult to have meals as vegetarian plus foods and drinks are extremely expensive!! I guess that's everywhere at the stadium but I felt ripped off by paying $6 for a bottle of drink or water Anyways, if you'd like to see the rodeo, it's a great place to be! Come and be mesmerized! Cheers

Yelp
August 6, 2022 Drove in from Galveston to see Garth Brooks last concert tonight. He had 2 openers that came on before he did (don't remember their names) and he came on at 930p About 11p, his wife and singer, Trisha Yearwood came on to sing with him, so that was cool 95k people there... it was so humid outside that the AC had a hard time keeping up on the inside. Garth was drenched after 15 minutes and I had to change seats to a section that had empty ones because mine was next to a large woman and I was squished. Wear walking shoes because it's a long hike from ANY where you park.

Yelp
Probably the best venue in Houston but there is a lot of improvements that can be done. Parking is a pain in the.... the staff need to be better planned to deal with the huge numbers of people. The interior AC needs to work a little harder even with the roof down. The food court pricing here is obviously completely ludicrous because they can be. Bathrooms really need to be cleaner as well; I realize people expect a trashy experience and are slobs... but still.

Yelp
**This review is based on a pop rock/alt rock concert.** We had tickets several years ago to see Coldplay at Toyota Center. The concert was canceled, as Hurricane Harvey was just miles offshore. Two albums later, the band returned to the Bayou City. This time though, they played to an NRG Stadium audience. A friend warned me that the acoustics at NRG aren't all that. I would totally agree with her if we were talking Blues or even Elton John and his piano. For bands like Coldplay (or Journey, ZZ Top -- even Dave Matthews) this place is fine. Because of the spectacle that Coldplay likes to create during concerts, this uber-large venue is actually wonderful. My only complaint -- and I know that it's trite -- is the parking situation. NRG has plenty of it for sale, so long as you're willing to take out a loan. It's the same for the many private lots in the area. To park for an event here can very easily cost more than the ticket itself. We hired an Uber from the bay side of Houston, and it was cheaper than buying a spot here. Something is wrong with that picture. Alas, all of those grossly overpriced spots were filled, so this is merely a vent. Would I attend a concert here again? Sure. But I might rent a hotel room in the area for the night, as it would be cheaper than the parking here.

Yelp
This was our second time here for Battle of the Bands, which our nephew was performing in with his HBCU. Parking is easy and convenient and it's very easy to find your seats. They have a good variety of drinks and concessions and the restrooms have always been clean. We were fortunate to get great seats this year in the 100s and had a nice view of the field. It's a nice stadium and we had a great time this year!

Yelp
Went in today excited about the preseason game after the big win from The Saints, needless to say we got our butts handed to us by Miami. The staff were very helpful when questions were asked so that's always a plus! The crowd along with dams from both teams are always full of energy! The food from the directors club was of course on point again. I only wish the Texans would've pulled off the win. A lot of fundamental mistakes made this game...missed tackles and no follow through. We will do better next time!!
