What can I say about this place.... Well, for starters finding parking! It took three passes in the neighborhood to find a parking space, and once I did the meter was broken... I would say for neighboring locals this is a great place to walk to, but for someone from out of the area or just out of the area who was trying to find parking it's probably not the best. Also, I found once entering the restaurant that it seemed as slightly chaotic, odd. There were approximately tweve people behind the counter but no one personing the front registers to take orders. There was one customer in front of me who was picking up her food, and she was standing at the front counter -- but no one approached me right away. I kind of had to make myself known.
I ordered a barbecue tofu and wanted to get a drink but when I saw that the prices starting at $10 -- well, it was a little bit too steep for me (try $5-7, and maybe I'd bite). When I ordered the sandwich they asked if I wanted a salad or chips and of course I wanted to know what was in the salad. The woman behind the counter didn't know so she had to ask someone who had to ask someone. Finally, they managed to figure out it was made with sesame seeds so I couldn't get the salad because it comes premade this way I suppose. If any restaurant wants to educate their employees about healthy food, clean food etc. please note that all seeds, despite their health benefits in nutrients, are inedible by people with either diverticulosis or diverticulitis. So I got chips.
All that said, I want to say that the sandwich itself -- the barbecue tofu was absolutely delicious. Save the fact that I did not know that it had mushrooms, which I don't like, it was a delicious bite and I'm sure they're juices are scrummy as well, just not worth $10 to me, bar none. All in all, it was a frustrating experience but I will say that the food lives up to its potential.
