The Boston Vegetarian & Vegan Delivery Guide - Boston - The Infatuation

"Apparently, “nu” is French for naked, which is pretty close to how we’ve eaten most of our meals during the pandemic. This Somerville spot has a substantial menu of things like breakfast sandwiches, burritos, Hawaiian bowls, and burgers. Everything’s available for delivery, so no, you don’t need to put pants on." - joel ang

Google
Great food with fresh ingredients and flavors. Stopped on for a lighter dinner and the vegetarian bowls were excellent with quality ingredients, bold flavor and ample portions without being too much. The fresh made juices were refreshing and delicious. Service was quick and prices were reasonable given the quality. A great option for a healthy, flavorful meal.

Google
Excellent spot for some very tasty healthy food options and I loved the vibe. Great menu, so I’ll be back with lots of nutrition focused meal options and fresh ingredients. Fridge full of fresh small batch Nu Kitchen drinks! Yum 😋

Google
I really liked the vibes and the seat yourself style, it made it really easy. Although there were a lot of people using tables for work so it had more of a cafe vibe which is fine. The food was good and I liked my coconut coffee. I got a breakfast burrito and I was a bit confused by the bread options because in my head I thought that’s weird I guess it comes with bread so I chose baguette but it turns out that’s the bread for the burrito. Oops. Anyway it was really yummy, the bread was fluffy and it turned out to be a good breakfast sandwich.

Google
This place is so good! I went twice in one week. The Buddha bowl is so filling, and the dressing is extremely flavorful. The chipotle avocado and lime bowl is also delicious. Definitely try the grain bowls and fresh juices when you visit. The atmosphere is natural and organic, just like the food.

Arianna L.

Google
Nu Kitchen is my favorite spot, I come here weekly for coffee or lunch, and it never disappoints. The food and drinks are always fresh and delicious, but what truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. Every visit, I’m warmly welcomed by Lisa, who is incredibly kind, helpful, and hardworking. She also recently introduced me to the manager, Mikayla, who went above and beyond to assist me with such care. The entire staff here is amazing, and their kindness keeps me coming back!!

Cole F.

Google
I have been going to nu for almost a decade now and love it every time. However, this breakfast sandwich I got today was a bit of a rip off if you ask me: $9+ for one egg and two strips of bacon…? They used to have the best sandwiches but they have definitely become skimpy :/ I’m still going to be going back for the smoothies, but just very dissatisfied with the food as of recently.

Ryan P.

Google
Lisa is absolutely the best at Nu Kitchen! She always goes above and beyond to take care of her customers, and her friendly, engaging conversation makes every visit a treat. The food here is fantastic—the Southwest Chicken Bowl is a must-try, and their smoothies are hands-down the best around. Highly recommend stopping by and asking for Lisa—you won’t be disappointed!

Google
I visited Nu Kitchen in Worcester for breakfast. The person at the register wasn’t very friendly, which was a little disappointing. My order came out quickly, but unfortunately, the food was cold. On the positive side, I really appreciated that they offer gluten-free waffles, and the overall quality of the food is great. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and I love that they serve meals on real plates with cutlery—it makes you feel right at home.

Yelp
10/10 experience!! Everything from the atmosphere to the food is exactly what you hope for in a upbeat, health-food spot. They have tons of well-lit, clean seating adding to the bright vibes and energy. The dining area has a variety of seating including spots with outlets. It's a great place to enjoy a meal either while getting work done or while relaxing with friends. As for the food, it's just as good! The dishes are packed with satisfying flavors and textures that are super refreshing. You can tell their ingredients are clean and cooked fresh!! Plus, their menu offers a large variety from specialty drinks and smoothies to sweet or savory breakfasts and salads/sandwiches/wraps for lunch. I tried their turkey flatbread and it was amazing! The pita is fluffy and crisp, yet not too bready making for a perfect combination with the tender turkey, crisp spinach, and creamy mayo. Their matcha isn't bad either: nice and creamy but just a little too sweet for my taste. The service is straightforward and helpful- they definitely have their operations running tight and smoothly. My food was brought out fast and fresh and the servers make sure you have everything you need. Even when it's busy, you'll be sure to be taken care of. Overall, this is one of my new favorite spots in all of Massachusetts for a peaceful, healthy breakfast or lunch and I cannot wait to come back!! Definitely worth a visit even if it's a far drive!

Yelp
I'm not usually a huge fan of cafés, but this one was actually pretty solid. Their menu is fairly extensive, with something for everybody. I came in a group and we got a mix of sandwiches and salads. The smoothies looked yummy too! The vibes at NU Kitchen are very chill, with plenty of room for socializing and studying. The service is fairly standard, nothing in particular to note. Maybe I'd try their Somerville location next time.

Yelp
The food was good! The waffles weren't my favorite but the chocolate strawberry smoothie IS DELICIOUS!! The service was good considering how busy they were! And the ambiance is sooooo cute! They have plants inside, LED lights and paintings. So pretty for a photo shoot! And they even have an outdoor area! It was giving panera vibes. But a lot cuter and more comfortable. Perfect space to get work done (they have outlets). This was my first time here and i definitely recommend coming here for a refreshing and healthy snack! :)

Yelp
Healthy food options for those who want protein without feeling bloated or eating fried food. Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available. Non soda drink options to choose from like Kombucha, fresh squeezed juices, sparkling water and coffees. Our family of 4 ordered the following meals: Bahmi Beef Sandwich with kettle chips, 2 Turkey and Avocado Flatbread Sandwiches and a Chicken Power Bowl with rice, quinoa, veggies and protein.

Yelp
NU Kitchen is a bustling place with a great vibe. Lots of energy. Diverse and healthy food options. People of all ages. You can order at the counter, at a kiosk, or through your phone. It's super convenient and they are efficient at preparing your order! The food.. excellent! I've had several of the breakfast plates, sandwiches, and waffles and they're all delicious with high-quality ingredients. I am addicted to the seasonal French toast latte and I don't even drink coffee. They pass the first rule of New England dining- no fake maple syrup!! Love this place and will keep coming back again and again!!

Yelp
I was in the area and stopped in for an early dinner to take home. The outside has nice seating, and the inside has a cool vibe with a lot more places to sit. The service was good, staff were pleasant. All the menu items sounded really good, but there are no prices on the physical menu. I ordered a salmon BLT, a Banh mi bowl with chicken, and a Smurf juice. The whole order was $45, excluding tip. The food presentation was great, it looked really good. But all of the flavors were just ok. The sandwich was the best part of the meal and it was bland. The Banh mi bowl tasted nothing like a banh mi, not a fan of the creamy sauce. The chicken had more flavor. The Smurf juice was good, but a lot sweeter than I expected. It came in a glass which I think I can reuse, that's cool. Overall 3.5/5.
google avatar

Simone B.

Yelp
Delicious!! The breakfast sandwich with goat cheese is so unique and a great combo of flavors!

Elizabeth V.

Yelp
Cold brew will have you zooming here lmao Food here to me is over priced. Always a cute place to catch up with people.

Yelp
I really only LOVE the shakes and juices here which are so fresh and yummy. However, I'm giving it only 3 stars because it's TOO EXPENSIVE. I came here yesterday and spent $35 on 3 item (which included a polar seltzer). My sandwich was just two regular pieces of wheat bread (perhaps gluten free and special, but still, two small pieces of bread) with some bacon onions and lettuce - the "Southwest BLT." And the side was a small "cucumber salad" which was smaller than a jell-o shot I took in high school. Literally, it was in those tiny plastic cups that are one ounce. My friend got a salad with chicken. Not sure about the hype, but she didn't finish it if that says anything... The restaurant look/aesthetic is really nice though - however, every time I'm there it's packed with college kids on their laptops taking up tables. Overall, not bad, but too expensive for what you get. Notice I didn't mention taste...which could have made up for portions and pricing... Now, I get it: gluten-free, vegan, etc etc. but $35 for 2 small dishes and a bottle of Polar Seltzer? No thanks. Sorry!

Brian S.

Yelp
Tasty and pretty inventive cafe sandwiches and bowls. The vegan options here are always real nice and feel wholesome. The atmosphere is great for dining in and food prep is pretty quick! This review/post was made in connection with a Toast promotion.
google avatar

Tramy T.

Yelp
Good was great; service was okay. I got the chicken Dijon but was given turkey. I did really want the chicken but I was a bit worried they would waste the turkey. In the end it was wasted and made me a bit sad. I would've been happy to pay for both of I knew it would be tossed. Must get the Smurf juice, panini, avocado toast. It was amazing. The açaí bowl used to melt so quickly. I enjoy it so much more now!! It tasted like less açaí but I'm so glad it doesn't melt as fast.

Katie D.

Yelp
Love the food and the staf! Especially Lisa- she always smiles, remembers my name, and asks me how my day is going. The best!

Yelp
Blackberry twist taste really good like ice cream (I love it 7/10) Iced cappuccino is ok But the highlight is the atmosphere (8/10) Good service and well-organized

Yelp
The large portions were a major highlight. On a cold Saturday afternoon, I ordered the gluten free waffles as takeout and that was my first meal ever from NU. It came with a side of fresh berries and bananas and some syrup that was well packed in little round tins. The size of the meal, careful packaging and freshness was the best part but the waffle lacked some flavor. I'll definitely give them a second chance at the location.

V N.

Yelp
Food: It's usally fresh ingridents and plently of options to make it vegitarian, or vegan. At times their takeout portions can be inconsistent as I'll get less in my salad or just the right amount. I usally go for the pre-made bowls such as the southwest or buddha which are filling, slightly on the pricer side thought. Service: Easy to navigate online when ordering and when you pick it up, it'll be on a wooden counter for you to grab. Ambiance: It brings a rather earthy but noicy environment when busy. It's student friendly for those that want to study and have something healthy to eat while doing so. They recently had renovated a few years and it looks much much better with the addtional sunlight and greenery they added. It can be difficult to find sitting as there is no time limit for how long you stay so there's alot of student that sit to study. Location accommodation: They have a parking lot and outdoor seating which is really nice to enjoy a good refreshing smoothie.

Yelp
Food and services were great I definitely will be back I had a chicken sandwich and a special juice both were delicious

Yelp
NU Kitchen needs no introduction in Worcester. I'm super late to the party here but they have went through a complete remodel from before it was branded NU Cafe. I really dig the natural plant and tree vibe they have going on in there. It's one of the nicest chic restaurants/cafe you can go to in town. The food and vibe is great. Food has definitely improved over the years. You can come in, grab a cup of coffee, enjoy an açaí bowl, or some good lunch. Great place to hang out, hit the books, do some work. And enjoy. Just dont babysit your spot too long. There are others that do also want to enjoy. Cheers.

Yelp
So pleasantly surprised! Coming from California, my standards for acai bowls are higher than average (obviously also reminiscing on the amazing ones in Hawaii proper), and I came to the Boston area with such low expectations for foods you'd expect from the west coast. We got the oahu bowl and the buddha bowl with chicken added, both were great but I LOVED this acai bowl, my one wish is for slightly less honey, as it seemed like there was a layer of it over the acai so it was kind of hard to get to the acai without getting globs of honey. Our buddha bowl was great too and very fresh, just wish it had a little bit more sauce to cover all the food (and it's a lot!). Will definitely be frequenting their other locations!

Yelp
I love this place! Great place to connect with a friend for coffee or a meal. Lexa things to choose from. From salads, vegan tacos to grilled cheese, this place is refreshing! Highly recommend.

Elysa S.

Yelp
I was introduced to NU Kitchen by a wonderful Worcester friend and have now been here several times despite living in Boston (someday I'll drive to Somerville!). I love this place. I eat vegetarian and the number of delicious and protein-rich options is awesome. It is a wonderful space to gather for a meal, or to spend a working lunch with a nice change of scenery. The menu is creative while also being consistent. The staff have always been friendly. Their online order pick up setup is well designed and easy to find. Great food, strong logistics, friendly staff, nice interior, clean bathroom. Checks all the boxes for me.
google avatar

Ernesto Z.

Yelp
The atmosphere is that of college students and the staff were very friendly to me and my date. The food was tasty and will definitely return when visiting g the area again.
google avatar

Luzed G.

Yelp
Four stars for number of vegetarian options. Sort of a cafeteria vibe that is loud, relaxed, and unpretentious. Nothing negative to say. Thanks for all meatless options. Great place to go hungover or doing homework.

Lindsey G.

Yelp
I always come here and everything is always amazing! However today I got the new pistachio cold brew with cold foam, and my god it was the best thing I've ever had, and I fear I will spend all my money on this drink. Also very aesthetic looking 10/10, staff is also always friendly
google avatar

Rich M.

Yelp
I had the goat cheese breakfast sandwich and it was awful. The eggs were cold and the bread was super hard. It's unfortunate because I really like this place. Management tried to offer a resolve which was appreciated. Please do better to ensure that your food is hot and fresh before passing it off to customers.
google avatar

Suzanne M.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Worcester. I have dined in and taken out, ordering is easy with their app. I have tried many options on the menu and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is hip and casual, and there is outdoor seating that is nice despite the fact that it overlooks the parking lot. During busy times, I have had difficulty finding a place to sit. My only complaint is that their Beyond Burger is so good I can't seem to order anything else off the menu anymore! There is no reason to think twice if you are considering giving Nu Kitchen a shot, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Ryan P.

Yelp
Healthy vegan and non-vegan options are kin every section of their menu. The food and drinks are delicious. It is a large space with a variety of seating options. I worked here from 8 am to 6 pm and got to sample a variety from the menu. Service was great. I recommend the maple latte and any of the short rib sandwiches.

Daniel R.

Yelp
It has nice ambience. However their seasoning is strange: too salty/sour. Beef/chicken are not amazing. I like their veggie dishes better. Employees eat their food which is a good sign.

Marina H.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for quite a while and I finally made it a point to visit. It is so beautiful in here!! Lots of natural light and beautiful art pieces all around. I appreciate the self order kiosk as well. The staff here are all super welcoming and sweet. I ordered the turkey bacon avocado wrap without a side and a regular chocolate covered strawberry smoothie. It was ready super fast and taste amazing! I think if I had any complaint it would be the amount of people in here on computers. It almost feels like an office but it's not a huge deal. Other than that I definitely recommend!

Maya H.

Yelp
I love the place and the idea of the healthy food and the quick service by just scanning the QR code and getting your order ready and that's all , you will escape the hassle of waiting
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
We absolutely loved the look of this place - it's so open and bright, would definitely be an amazing place to study or work and perfect for a little date or meal with friends! There was quite a bit of a line but the cashiers were pretty quick all things considered. Best smoothie I've ever had!
google avatar

Ian U.

Yelp
This is a really cute little space to get something to eat or drink. I used to work for Tatnuck Bookseller who used to occupy this space in the 1990s, so there is a strong nostalgic feeling when I come here. The inside ambiance makes generous use of natural light which is refreshing in and of itself. This is a place one should make an effort to visit when in Worcester. The food is excellent and is much more of a healthy bend than a lot of other places. The cold brew iced coffee is wonderful and the scramble I got was similarly exceptional.
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
The vegan açaí bowl is heavenly. The seating is terrible when it's busy and crowded. The staff is really nice!
google avatar

Avery M.

Yelp
cute interior and yummy ACAI bowls that were a good portion size and filling. overall food was good, only thing I personally didn't like was the matcha. not really authentic matcha tasting and a little too sweet for my liking
google avatar

Thiago D.

Yelp
My reviews comprise of 3 parts customer service, location, and taste. All these get score from 1-5. Wow! All I can say is that new went from good to great! The location is great, it has plenty of parking. It also has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, depending on what you desire. The decor was recently changed and it feels very boho, trendy, and Instagramish which is really nice. Location gets a 5/5. Customer service is also great. They are really good at making recomdwations, workers are friendly and the food is delivered promptly. Customer service gets a 5/5. Now for the food and beverage... It was literally so good that I had to come here 2 times in one week. I had a chorizo breakfast sandwich, one of their bowls and their honey nut latte. The sandwich as straight up heavenly. It was on some sort of flat bread, it had the perfect mix of indredients and sauce. Hands down top 3 breakfast sandwiches I have eaten. The bowl was great, it was comprised of light ingredients, grains, and dressing. It was a delicious light meal. And OMG! The honey nut latte, was a grandslam. It was smooth, not bitter, and not overly sweat. Hands down one of the best drinks in all of Worcester. Now I feel like I have to go ever week to try everything on the menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Nu Kitchen is all about executing on the little touches really well!! They offer patio seating, have little hand sanitizing wipes both inside and outside that you can use before eating, and have a 'sun roof' area inside right over their communal table. Stepping inside the cafe feels like you're in a mystical forest with all the plants inside. One of my other favorite things about this place was that the staff was open/ honest about the menu as I debated what to order, and very down to earth! I ordered a vegan banh mi sandwich with tofu that came with a side salad (the other option was chips), edamame dumplings, and a beet juice. I loved the loved the banh me sandwich!!! It was flavored perfectly with a smoky barbecue flavor and the other sandwich toppings complemented the tofu. The sandwich and especially the side salad were very small in portion size though. The banh Mi sandwich was about as big as the palm of my hand, and the 'side salad' was maybe 2 or 3 tablespoons of sliced cucumbers (not worthy the $4 up charge for the sandwich vs. the meal in my opinion). Additionally, I didn't love the flavor of the beet juice; it tasted a bit like tomatoes and I think the addition of 1 fruit might have balanced out the flavors to make it more sweet but it seemed like all the ingredients were very fresh! All in all, I love the small touches this cafe offers! I thought the prices were steep (my total was about $35 for the equivalent of 2 appetizers plus a juice), so I wouldn't come back for the food but maybe to grab a coffee and enjoy the sunroof!!
google avatar

Lis F.

Yelp
Great selection of vegetarian and vegan entrees, and they have the best cold brew coffee I've ever tasted!
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
Super cute inside, great light healthier & unique food options, and the staff is super friendly!

Aditi U.

Yelp
Love their food, smoothies, and coffee (so much variety). Staff is courteous and helpful. Ambiance is excellent- the best in Worcester and comparable to a major city. The store attracts the young and old. They are also open 8a-8p every day including Sunday which is a major highlight. Next steps are probably to add new items to the menu.
google avatar

Joan L.

Yelp
After ordering their smoothies and banh mi through doordash, I thought I would come see what it looks like on the inside. I had lunch in the area before coming in, so I got a dessert waffle with a smoothie. I usually go for their supercharged smoothies. I have tried their Cacao Cold Brew and Muscle Machine. The taste of coffee is super strong in their cacao cold brew smoothie, so you can't really taste the other ingredients. I love coffee but for a good smoothie, I wouldn't recommend it. However, the muscle machine smoothie was delicious! I want to try all the other smoothies before I decide on a favorite. The interior of NU Kitchen is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and there are a lot of college students working on their laptops. If you are looking for a place to kill time, I recommend stopping by NU Kitchen for a smoothie.
google avatar

William F.

Yelp
I've come around to NU Kitchen now that its right around the corner. The espresso drinks are nothing to write home about, but they do good drip coffee and cold brew. The food is also pretty good. I'm partial to the Buffalo chicken wrap, but the salads and sandwiches are solid across the board. They've done a good job with the space as well.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I'm sorry to say this and this is so disappointing but I ordered from Nu Kitchen last week and it was just a totally different experience than my first few experiences. I ordered their chickpea parmesan bowl with arugula, quinoa, brown rice, avocado, roasted brussels, parmesan, "crispy" chickpeas, and for protein I selected tofu. I've had this before and it was really good! I would like to preface this by saying I'm very easily grossed out by any imperfections in greens. I know arugula can be moody. In this case, some of the arugula leaves were gross. There was a significant portion of the leaves that were fine and this might just be my lettuce OCD but that set things off in a bad direction. After removing the undesired leaves, I mixed everything around a bit and dug in. The "crispy" chickpeas were not as crisp as I remember, almost like "crisp" chickpeas that had been sitting around for a while. Both the brussels and the tofu was just meh. I really had to force myself to eat it and couldn't. I left 1/2-1/3 over and eventually just tossed it. The avocado toast was fine. Some of the avocado was brown but that might be more of a reflection of avocado after delivery or maybe just less-than-completely-fresh avocados. It's going to be tough for me to order bowls or salads from here again.
google avatar

Samantha P.

Yelp
The food is so fresh and the space itself is so beautiful. Love enjoying a healthy meal here and getting work done!

Sarah M.

Yelp
I used to eat here every week ~2 years ago, much less as I moved further away. Most recent was fall 2023 (my review is really late, sue me). The staff is always nice and the space is gorgeous. HOWEVER the food itself was shockingly far worse than it used to be. The green juice that used to be fresh was only available bottled (not necessarily an issue) several days old and tasted terrible. The bahn mi sandwich was dry and bland. The side salad that used to be a spicy cucumber salad was replaced with a flavorless and slimy chickpea/cucumber salad. No I do not have covid taste damage. I believe the food quality has been declining for a while, even about a year and a half ago I had noticed the Buddha bowl was extremely bland. With the renovations to the dining area this reads like upper management let quality slip while focusing on having a trendy space.
google avatar

Binnie N.

Yelp
I have found my new go-to spot for healthy options! I have had the Buddha bowl with salmon. Big portions and fresh ingredients! The decor inside is so beautiful. Very bright and open with lively plants.
google avatar

Bianca B.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful space and delicious food. All health conscious catering to the vegan and gluten free communities is such a plus. We drove from Sturbridge 30 minutes to check this place out and it was packed in a happy upbeat way. The seating area is so fun and beautifully lit with natural light, tons of plant life and neutral and natural decor; also did up for Halloween:) Seating was ample, and the staff was so friendly and engaging. We will be back!

Ava W.

Yelp
First time here, came per excellent reviews online. I was looking for something quick for dinner while I was in the area for a short time that was also healthy!! Loved the food so much and the watermelon mint lemonade is amazing!!! I was hesitant to spend $8.00 on a drink, but it was worth it. Healthier food options and quality ingredients. I ordered online and it was waiting for me inside the take-out area. Lovely little outdoor patio, but the music was a bit loud. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be a repeat customer when in an area with a NU Kitchen. Would love for you guys to open one in the Franklin area!!!
google avatar

Goushi K.

Yelp
Amazing place to eat and get work done! Not all tables have outlets so if you need one make sure to find a location that does!
google avatar

Mitch J.

Yelp
Awesome spot! Some friends from the area brought us here and we were very glad they did. They have a menu with an impressive variety. The best part is most of it is healthy but it actually tastes GOOD! What an amazing concept. (More places need to get on that train in my personal opinion). We got an açaí bowl and the salmon BLT and both were excellent. We were impressed by the food quality. Since the atmosphere is very casual and comfortable, it lulls you into believing the food will be mediocre, but don't be fooled; everything we ordered was great. Something unique to note is the Brussels sprouts--I don't know if it's considered a side or an entree but they're cooked in a curry sauce with goat cheese on top and it's phenomenal. Something very odd the beaten path if you're looking to go on an adventure. We'd come back here in a heartbeat. Wish we lived closer!

Paula M.

Yelp
This place was a revelation. In spite of living in the Worcester area for 17 years, I had never been. I had a delicious kale Caesar salad. The place was bustling! I'll be back next week.
