Nua Thai Restaurant And Bar - Review - Ballard - Seattle - The Infatuation

"A Thai restaurant complete with moody purple lighting and a fully stocked bar has taken over the old Cycle Dogs space in Ballard. On the menu are classics like pad kee mao and massaman curry, plus a few cocktails that involve persimmon, Thai basil-infused gin, and coconut milk. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Kayla Sager-Riley

Ordered take out. Employees were nice. Tom Kha, Pad Thai, and the Steak. Tom Kha and Pad Thai were below average and the steak was gray on the outside and purple in the middle (furthest thing from the advertised photo). Called twice to ask for a refund for the steak as it was not edible (tried it anyway and it was chewy and raw, like it looked) and was told I’d get it. Never got it - bye bye $20.

My gf and I were in the area and decided to stop by here as we like Thai food and it was a newer restaurant in the area. I expected this place to have the usual Thai choices, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not only do they have the popular choices, but they also do have unique items that you can't get at usual Thai restaurants. We like trying new things, so we decided to order the grilled steak, pork jowl, Kra Pao, Rad Nah, and the Mango Sticky Rice. They were all really good especially the Rad Nah and Pork Jowl. We also tried the soup for the Nam Ngiew which I will be going back to try next time. The mango sticky rice to top off the night was Fire. I would definitely recommend going here if you want to try something different and I love that the menu is big enough where you can try new things each time you go. The price is very reasonable too. I for one, am definitely going back and bringing my friends.

Incredible food and great service! Very friendly and comfortable with delicious flavors. Highly recommend the Mae Ploy 24 cocktail!!! Unlike anything I’ve had before and delicious!

We have been to over fifty Thai restaurants, mostly in the Seattle area, and this place STILL impressed us! The food we ordered ranged from very solid (the mango sticky rice) to absolutely exceptional (the pad see ew, kao soi, and horapa). Strongly recommend Nua Thai!

I decided to stop by after a long day at work and I was starving. The atmosphere is satisfying especially on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the beef pad thai with a Thai ice tea and the wait time was short! The thai ice tea is made to perfection, and the pad thai was absolutely delicious. Probably the best pad Thai I had in the Ballard area! The employees here are very attentive and friendly as well.

We had a great meal with flavorful dishes. Probably over ordered but it was fun to try more dishes and save some for the next day. The staff is friendly and the restaurant has a fun vibe.

Tried this spot for the first time. The server was great and guided us to the vegan options in the menu even though they were not marked. The chef was able to customize a few things as vegan so that was great. Had the pad Thai which came quite sweet despite a 4 spice rating, and tried pad sew iw with wide rice noodles which were saucy and spicy.

I definitely had dish envy here. My meal was not that great however, the people I was with loved their selections. The steak and rice dish I had was pricey, plain, and not that great. I should have skipped the dipping sauce 🤢 Probably a 2 star plate. I needed some chili sauce for flavor but by the time I could get servers attention my steak was already cold. So I would go back but I would order something else. Service was a bit slow during lunch hour, but they only had one server.

Yelp
Was looking for a quick dinner while in Ballard and came across Nua on Yelp. Anytime there's a new Thai spot, I gotta try it! -Kao Soi! Not a lot of Thai places have this on the menu and it's one of my favorite dishes, so I had to get it! This one was done very well and ranks high up for some of the best in Seattle. The broth was thick and flavorful. Perfect amount of spice for me (starts at 2 stars). I'd definitely return for this. -Boat Noodle Soup. Hubby had this and devoured it -Nam Kao Tod. Salad with crispy rice and pork sausage. I didn't like this. The lettuce was completely dry. The crispy rice bits were flavorful. The pork sausage looked off, like it wasn't cooked. Had a few bites and passed on the rest. Hubby ate most of it -cocktails: they have a bar and great looking cocktail menu. I got the Thai Iced Tea spiked with rum and it was delicious. -Service: nice, but slow. I think they're still working on the kinks. There was only one person taking orders, making drinks, serving food, and managing/packaging pick up orders. So it was a longer experience than I would have liked. But our server was helpful and in good spirits. I think once they work out some logistics and hopefully are more staffed, this place will be a solid spot!

Yelp
Wow -- just tried this new neighborhood place -- and it is really great -- I ordered 3 dishes All were so fresh and clean tasting - perfectly spiced The vibe is was great for date place and there was a full roomy bars for having drinks with friends -- so pleased with my new discovery. It's only been open for a week so it wasn't super busy inside but the staff was super nice and the place was really inviting.
