Nubar Cafe - Review - Albany Park - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Albany Park has a new place for coffee, tea, and Middle Eastern and Kurdish snacks. Nubar Cafe's drink menu includes a honey cinnamon latte and Turkish coffee. But they also have pastries and a few handheld dishes, like a shakshuka sandwich and a spicy chicken shawarma wrap." - John Ringor

This café in Albany Park is beautifully designed — the kind of space that immediately makes you want to sit down with a book, open your laptop, and settle in with a good cup of coffee. The warm tones, natural textures, and subtle Mediterranean-inspired décor give the space a charming, calming character that makes it perfect for reading or working for hours. Alongside their well-made coffee, they also offer a selection of delicious desserts and comforting dishes inspired by Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavors. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared, from the presentation to the taste, adding even more depth to the whole experience. It’s definitely one of those places you find yourself wanting to return to. I’m certain I’ll be back again to enjoy the cozy ambiance, great coffee, and flavorful food.

A spacious & modern Kurdish café with plenty of seating and an extensive pastry and specialty latte selection. The macchiato was rich and intense, and the Biscoff latte made for a fun & indulgent treat. A great spot to hang out or get some work done.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nubar Café is a hidden gem in the heart of Albany Park—a true drop of sunshine! The feng shui layout and soft natural light make it feel like a mini oasis, whether it’s the middle of winter or a bright summer afternoon. The sunlight alone feels like a vitamin D boost, but then there’s the espresso—smooth, rich, and always perfectly made—and a beautiful array of French patisserie delights that look (and taste) like art. It’s also an excellent spot for working or simply slowing down. The music is calm, the tables are well-spaced, Wi-Fi is fast, outlets are accessible, and the bathrooms are spotless. Nubar has mastered that rare balance between energy and tranquility. Come for a pastry, stay for the peace, and enjoy the beauty of being fully present.

The interior of this cafe is modern and bright, making it a great place to study or work. My friend and I tried the pistachio latte, the brunch duo (lentil soup and shakshuka sandwich) and the mezze plate. I’m not a coffee fan but my take on the latte is that it’s missing the infusion of pistachio flavor. Eventhough it comes with the rich paste, it doesn’t really dissolve inside the drink and precipitates at the bottom. However it’s not too sweet which is a plus. I really like the lentil soup, it’s smooth, flavorful and creamy. The shakshuka sandwich is undersalted and unimpressive. The bread came out kind of burnt as pictured but the owner noticed and offered us another order. We appreciate her gesture as it reflects her dedication and commitment to her work. The mezze plate is great, I like how creamy the labneh is. The falafel is crispy but also a little flavorless. Nubar is still in their soft opening phase so they have time to improve. They also have great desserts that we haven’t gotten to try. Overall, I would recommend this place as it has potentials and amazing people who care about the customers.

Google
visited Nubar Cafe in Albany Park recently, and I’m so happy to see a new café open in the neighborhood, and even happier that it’s one that clearly has so much heart, effort, and passion behind it. The first thing that really stood out to me was the ambiance. The space is absolutely beautiful — cozy, warm, calm, and thoughtfully designed. Everything from the lighting to the layout makes you feel comfortable and relaxed the moment you walk in. It’s one of those places where you immediately feel at ease, whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or planning to stay for a while. I tried their tiramisu latte, and it was incredible. You can tell it’s made with care — smooth, rich, and full of flavor without being too sweet. Also ordered the avocado toast with arugula and dressing, and it tasted amazing. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. Simple ingredients, but done so well. We also tried one of their plates (photo attached), and it was just as impressive. Beautifully presented and delicious. You can truly feel the hard work and love that goes into their food and drinks. The staff deserves a special mention too — everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and kind. The energy in the café is full of good vibes, and it really makes a difference. This café is also a perfect spot for working or studying. It’s quiet, comfortable — the kind of environment that makes you want to be productive while enjoying great coffee and food at the same time. Supporting a small business like this feels really good, especially when you can see how much effort is being put into every detail. They are doing a good job, and I sincerely hope they keep up the great work and continue to grow and succeed. Albany Park needed a place like this. Def would go back!

We happened to drive by this café and decided to stop in, and we’re so glad we did. It is one of the most beautiful cafés we’ve visited—warm, thoughtfully designed, and very welcoming. Despite the café being packed and all seats taken, the staff remained attentive, kind, and genuinely caring. The drinks were made professionally and with great attention to detail, even during such a busy rush. Everything felt organized and calm, which says a lot about the team. It’s especially impressive knowing they’ve only been in business for about three months. You can tell there’s a lot of passion and pride behind this place. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

Ambience is great, loved the falafel wrap, but the chicken wrap was quite not upto the mark. Sweets that they have are great, next time when I visit I am gonna try their coffee. We went for the second time and tried their small treats, they are truly delicious.must try!! Must try is Mango-Hibiscus Tea😍 it’s so soothing during winter time.

Google
The atmosphere is great. The coffee was good. The food I ordered was under seasoned. The stagf was very reserved and was not rude, but were not friendly (need tonwprk on servoce with a smile). They just opened up so hopefully they will improve. This will be a great place to hangout

Yelp
suuuuper new so they're still working out the kinks but it's really cute! would go back to try more things. I got the kunafa and it's not my favorite but it was still good! they had a lot of other unique items I'd like to try.

Yelp
I ordered a take out today. The first time trying this relatively new place. I ordered flat white. Given it was a take out and the firm of milk dissipated by the time I got home (two city blocks), I saw only coffee to the middle point in a cu with no form. The cup was small not to mention (and I wasn't asked about the size). So naturally, I am more on the dissatisfied side on it. I also ordered a brunch plate which I am not sure if I got it. I got some brunch plate but may not be what I ordered. The food quality is not bad but didn't stand out much particularly because we have Noon O Kabab and Kabobi within a block so it is very competitive to win my vote. As mentioned this will pace opened not too long ago so hopefully they will tweak things for improvement and stay open for a long long time.

Yelp
Very pretty and cozy inside, got the strawberry matcha with oatmilk. Good matcha, has grassy earthy notes but the strawberry syrup balanced it, its also not artificial tasting strawberry syrup. Cost around 10 dollars due to the oatmilk but good matcha isn't cheap so understandable.

Yelp
Excellent iced latte. Great place to have in the neighborhood. Will definitely be going back to try some of the desserts
