This review is for a pre-COVID show I attended, just wanted to send Nublu some love!
The venue is very small and looking at the pictures I was worried about being packed too close to people, and maybe the fact that I tend to choose less popular acts contributes to more manageable crowds, but I had plenty of room to dance and there was never a wait at the bar. There are some nice corners you can escape to if things to get packed.
Despite the venue being small, they do have two bars, one on on the ground floor and one upstairs in a small balcony like area that overlooks the stage. Very intimate, you can get right up to the stage. There' s not a bad spot. And the sound is absolutely phenomenal. All those jazz horns playing can ring in your ears but this was crystal clear and balanced. The ambient lighting is also gorgeous: lights on/behind/under both bars, on the stairs, all around the stage, blue and red bouncing off a disco ball overhead. Plus a projector on one wall showing music videos.
After the live act music transitioned to a DJ who was spinning disco, I like that they didn't just launch into deep house or EDM, they kept it vibing with what had come before.
