"With multiple convenient kiosk locations throughout the city, Nuchas’ slow-braised short rib and vegan shiitake curry empanadas are some of the most inventive I’ve ever had. Baked to perfection and perfectly braided, the empanadas here are both soft and simultaneously crunchy with a particularly impressive repulgue. They also have many vegan and vegetarian options, including the miso ginger-roasted Korean pumpkin, which was a delicious surprise. Nuchas empanada packs are available for nationwide shipping and can be ordered online." - monica prestia

Google
Love their coffee and medias lunas (croissant). Also, the empanadas are delicious.

Google
Best people watching tables in the world ... Empanadas and a glass of wine - how can you go wrong ... fresh baked and tasty ... (and desert waffles are right next door) ... perfect spot to snack after the show ...

Mauricio Alarcon

Google
My brother flew 2k miles with empanadas from Nuchas. Loved the short rib and Italian sausage empanada

Lindsey Grimes

Google
Stayed right around the corner from the Times Square location 3 times. After trying them the first time, made it a point to always swing by there at least once to grab a bunch to take home. I love meat, but the portobello surprised the heck out of me- out of this world! Must stop by if you have time. They travel and reheat well, also!

Sandra Riveros

Google
Great location to it down enjoy a great beer or wine with a great snack before dinner. Highly recommend.

Joseph Candelora

Google
Wow, this was the worst empanada I've ever had. Short rib sounds great, right? Truth in advertising would have it "Bland beef goo in a sad, reheated crust".

Lydda Moncada

Google
Just went back to NY with my girls and had to stop by Nuchas! Their empanadas are so good 😋 my favorites are the ham & cheese, Italian sausage and the short rib!

Julian Alarcon

Google
Portobello and Italian Sausage are my favorites. Great please to relax and enjoy a beer or wine.

Yelp
Great little spot in the heart of Times Square. Reasonably priced and items are ready fairly quickly. However, items are pre-made so there are no substitutions on the ingredients. Lastly, I was happy to receive 10% off of my first order. *oh... and the service was actually good.

Yelp
TL:DR overpriced and mediocre. I've seen this place a number of times, usually at these food stall markets and I finally gave in. The empanadas are good, but not great. And that's a problem. They're tiny, and $4. Being in NYC allows you the convenience of accessing cheap and authentic food on a whim. These are not cheap, and from my prior experience, not authentic either. The food I ordered the spicy chicken, the argentine and the short rib. The spicy chicken. It's just meh. Not too spicy, not too salty, not too sweet, not too anything. The argentine. This one was kinda nice - a lot of nicely blended flavors and spices with soft yet crisp dough. Still not worth $4 though. The short rib. Slightly better than meh. The service The person behind the counter looks as though he couldn't have been bothered to do anything. It's not a big deal since he wasn't rude, but it wasn't exactly pleasant to be ignored until I order. The decor There isn't really much - it's a stall.

Yelp
These are perfect street food - easy to walk with, relatively cheap, and resourcefully delicious pockets of yum! Affordable, quick, and delicious snacks that you really can't go wrong with. They opened a new spot in Times Square you can pick and spot and people watch or eat while walking over to catch your Broadway play. I like that it is easy to bring around and you can eat these baked treats anywhere you go. I tried 4 different kinds of savory empanadas and one sweet - the Argentine, Spicy Chicken, Spicy Cheese and Short Rib. It's 3 for $9.99, which is a pretty good deal in NYC. While the Spicy Chicken was quite mild, it was still delicious. The Argentine was my favorite though. The empanadas are juicy and flavorful. The Apple, Cranberry & Nutella Empanada had just the right amount of sweetness. I wish there was more kick to the savory flavors but overall a great snack. They may seem small but after eating them I was stuffed. If you're in Times Square you simply have to check them out. Four stars!

Yelp
As we were walking through Times Square We Came Upon This little pop-up Empanada spot. We grabbed two to go as we were walking. I was glad they had a vegetarian option for my daughter. She got the curried mushroom empanada which was quite tasty. We also got a beef empanadas. Both empanadas how to delicious crust with very tasty, and well-seasoned fillings. This little bite to go sustained us for a while on our busy Times Square Trek. It was nice to go through the area and grab little bites at the different pop ups. Kind of like a DIY food tour.

Yelp
For being Times Square, it's a little odd that most food places close by midnight. I was able to find this empanada stand in the heart of Times Square, right before it closed. My options were limited and I was starving. I ordered two chicken empanadas, only because they ran out of beef. It was cool they served beer, but only Coronas and some IPA I've never heard of. Unwrapping the empanadas, they were soooo TINY! It says their empanadas are award winning... they might have won the award for smallest empanadas. The chicken empanadas were actually flavorful with a hint of spice. I could have eaten about 20 of them and still would have been hungry. You don't get much bang for your buck here, but it's more of a desperation play if the clock is about to strike 12 and you are starving. I'm sure there are better food options that I just haven't discovered yet. I probably won't be back here, but it does get the job done.

Marissa L.

Yelp
I try to avoid walking through Times Square whenever possible, but if I'm cutting through and need a quick snack, Nuchas is where I usually stop. Their empanadas are quick, flavorful, and easy to eat, whether you're sitting in one of the pedestrian plazas or eating on the go. My favorite is the Argentine, filled with beef, onions, peppers, scallions, potatoes, and olives, and I'm also a fan of the chipotle chicken which comes with peppers, tomatoes, and onions in their paprika dough. They have a bunch of different options at the stand, including some vegetarian ones, and I've liked the ones I've tried over the years. Pricing is a little on the higher side for a snack, but they are in the middle of expensive Times Square real estate, so it's not unexpected.

Chris E.

Yelp
At Nuchas, the menu is simple, it's ALL empanadas and they are ranked from most to least popular (top to bottom) for each category of empanadas - Meat, Veggie and Sweet. Since it was 3 empanadas for a $8, I decided to get my bang for the buck (It's 1 for $3). If you have a big appetite then you'll be a bit disappointed as the empanadas are pretty small. I ordered the 2 most popular meat options (Argentine and Spicy Chicken) and the most popular veggie option (Portobello). All of them were soft and had plenty of filling. For each one, I got a good taste of the flavors. Surprisingly, my favorite out of the 3 was the Portobello, mostly because I love mushrooms mixed with spinach and cheese! It had a truffle taste to it. The other 2 were good, but not anything spectacular to me. The empanadas were all good and tasty, but there was nothing here that completely blew me away. It was just average for me. Also, the price was a bit higher than I would have preferred for such small empanadas. If it was $2 each I would've been satisfied with that.

Jeff H.

Yelp
There are a couple of Nuchas Argentine Empanada stands in New York - one in Herald Square and one in Times Square. I recently stopped by the one in Times Square for a quick snack and ordered the Argentine empanada. I asked for a side of spicy sauce which they provided. The empanada was decent but nothing out of the ordinary compared to many other empanadas I have eaten from Argentina. And at $4 it is not cheap. There are outdoor tables if you want to sit down while you eat your empanada. So that's the scoop on Nuchas!

Natalie A.

Yelp
I tried Nuchas out after seeing them on Shark Tank! I was so pumped to learn that one of their locations was close to my office. So I literally went the next day to try. I don't know if I was just hyped after seeing them on the show or what, but I was slightly underwhelmed. I tried 2 different flavors (chicken and sausage and peppers) and they both tasted kind of the same to me. It was SUPER quick though and the employees at the counter were very helpful in helping me decide what to get. I'd definitely go back because it was so quick, I was just expecting more of a WOW taste.

Kimmi S.

Yelp
Street food street food thats all I can say. Quick cheap bite to eat right in frony of Duffy Square...pretty much in the heart of Time Square

Sophia Yifan W.

Yelp
A small food stand, so the taste of empanadas is good but you cannot expect an excellent environment...It is convenient for people traveling on Time Square

Rashmi R.

Yelp
Lacked rgt at time square it's a small pop up shop witlots of space to sit and relax and have a snack break.. They have a lot of options of vegans too..they offer 3 for 9.99$ The taste was bland and not hot or warm too...its was a filling just cold and so bland hardly could taste any of its ingredients..

Evan L.

Yelp
I come from L.A. where there's a thriving and vibrant Argentine community and tons of empanadas. I saw this random stand in the middle of Times Square and laughed - 'how could this possibly be good,' I thought, passing it by a dozen times. Then hunger emerged and I didn't want to hunker down with a 'meal,' so I figured why not, let's try this spot and see what's up. I had three empanadas - hame and cheese, the argentine, and the spicy cheese. No, these weren't the best empanadas I've had but compared to anything within 10 blocks of Times Square, it'll do - they are a good size, the price is fair, and each one is tasty with a nice strong 'crust,' which I personally love. My only complaint is no chimichurri - that should be a must for empanadas, and Argentinian in general!

Mickei M.

Yelp
This review is for the Brooklyn location by Court Street. I really like their chicken empanadas and honey butter croissants. When the croissants are directly out of the oven, omg. So yummy. Very tasty. Very fresh. I love that they are baked and not fried, also! I think they could be $1 cheaper considering the size, however still worth what the price. Their lemonade and coffee is really good also!! I would suggest trying them for a small bite or snack.

Amy N.

Yelp
This is one of the food stands that are located in the heart of Times Square. That means that the food is expected to be mediocre and overpriced. Well, that is damn right! The empanadas lack filling and flavor. I got the spicy chicken and chorizo empanadas and it was lacking the authentic spicy flavors I was looking for. They basically took day old empanadas and reheated them in the microwave. I paid a solid $8 for that, never again!

Caroline K.

Yelp
Tasty empanadas and refreshing La Colombe ice coffee! This place is conveniently located in Herald Square. I tend to get Korean food in the area, but when I'm not that hungry or just want a quick bite, I come here. I like the Argentine and the Spicy Chicken empanadas. At $3 each, these are affordable and delicious! They also have a good selection of coffee/drinks. I am not a coffee expert, but they proudly serve La Colombe coffee - if you're into that kind of stuff. ;) Can't believe no one has added this on Yelp! Well, let's fix that problem.

Jenn S.

Yelp
The food truck was parked this time right inside of Bryant Park on the 5th Ave side so was super excited to catch them! I unfortunately got there a little too late from their lunch rush and so no short rib or spicy cheese were available...But the truck guys were super apologetic and nice and offered me a free sweet empananda. Ordered: Argentine, Spicy Chicken, Jambalaya and Portobello...all very good and seasoned perfectly. I like that they bake each empanada with a letter stamped to them so you know which you are devouring first. The sweet empanada was stuffed with granny smith apples, cranberries, pears, nutella and chocolate in a white almond dough...very tasty as well!

Jay M.

Yelp
It is a food truck and you MUST try Nuchas if you are at Times Square. Amazing food and the great staff at the counter. The place shares the common seating area at Times Square, so there is no dedicated seating area but there are plenty of tables, so you don't really have to worry. We tried Portobello Empanadas (Veggie) and Apple, Cranberry & Nutella Empanadas (Sweet). We liked the later one more than the former but both of them were great. I am quite sure they would be making amazing meat empanadas as well. Medialunas (Argentine sweet croissant) is another must try. The staff was good and friendly. Took the orders and diligently delivered them without much delay. Overall, it's the brilliant food that you must not miss at this place.

Josephine L.

Yelp
I was having one of my "true pescatarian" days, but wanted to show my boss's boss a good culinary time in the dead zone of South Village. Lo and behold: Nuchas beckoned. Unrepentant meat for him, vegetarian fillings for me. And boy did they deliver. I got all three--the Porto, Spicy Cheese, and Shiitake Curry--and they were just delicious. The Spicy Cheese was my favorite. If I had just one complaint, it was that the Shiitake could've used more seasoning. But better to be under-salted than over-salted, si? Perfect weekday lunch material.

Caitlin C.

Yelp
As "food that can be obtained quickly from a cart-like contraption in the middle of Times Square" goes, this place is pretty legit. As someone who's not a huge veggie person, I wish that that veggies in their empanadas were a little less "conspicuous." That is to say, smaller and more ground up. But their flavors are all really tasty. Especially liked the spicy chicken and the cheese one. Odd as it might sound since it's not what they're known for, the true standouts that would cause me to return were the green tea lemonade and the sweet croissants. Major "yum" factor on both. The empanadas themselves are a little pricey. 3 bucks a pop, and you definitely need multiple to make a meal. Thankfully they have a 3/$8 deal that softens the blow a little bit.

Carolina R.

Yelp
Their Argentine empanadas were delicious. And they are quick. This was a nice and yummy lunch in the middle of Times Square.

Crystal C.

Yelp
I know a thing or two about empanadas (or as my family calls it, pastelitos). Nuchas' empanadas did not live up to my expectations. First off, I visited this truck while in attendance of the Afro Punk Festival (bunches of fun go read my review). Nuchas actually had one of the longer lines compared to the rest of the food trucks. Three empanadas for $10 is a decent deal. I waited on the line for a half hour and was expecting greatness. Nope, didn't get that. I ordered the Spicy Chicken, Argentine and Portobello empanadas. The spicy chicken was just bad. They could've been more creative with that bad boy. Empanadas stuffed with mushy, spicy shredded chicken, is not my idea of an empanada. The Argentine was okay. Not bad, but not great, and definitely not memorable. Portobello empanada, DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER. Portobello kicked Argentine's and Spicy Chicken's butt. Loved it, everything about it. I wasn't expecting that amount of flavor in an all veggie empanada. Yummers! I give them three stars for that Portobello empanada and friendly customer service. Other than that, I can show you how a real empanada is made.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Beware of the inevitable oil that will leak from your empanada. Maybe I don't eat them enough to remember that? Well, I'll have the stain on my jacket to remind me next time. My sister and I wanted a quick bite and were passing through en route to work so I got the Argentine empanada and she got their "sweet". I got to say, that was one heck of an empanada! The selection on their menu is not the longest but the quality makes up for it.

Meghan A.

Yelp
I developed an empanada habit when I visited Argentina a few years ago. Old habits die hard, and luckily for me, I happened to walk past the Nuchas truck on 14th Street last night! I knew it was a full fledged empanada alert. I got over-excited and then stopped my group of 3 people who I honestly don't know that well to pick up an Argentine empanada. 100% worth it. The crust makes or breaks an empanada, and Nuchas gets it right. I was lucky that my batch was straight out of the oven, and my savory little treat was piping hot! I'm glad I follow the truck on twitter, and if I happen to walk by it again, I will definitely stop.

Lili K.

Yelp
I got the spicy cheese empanada for $3. Pretty good sized meal that was hot and tasted fresh. They have a buy 3 and get a soda/water for $10 deal too. Either way, it's a good place to drop by if you're a bit hungry and around the area.

Ashley Z.

Yelp
I had heard about this place, so perhaps my expectations were just too high, but frankly, I didn't think their empanadas were all that good. We got their beef empanadas, which were decently crispy on the outside, but the insides were a little too soggy. Also, the filling was bland - it had ground meat with peas, but no real spices and not enough salt/pepper to add any flavor. In a city with tons of good food trucks, this one is a pass.

Yesenia M.

Yelp
I went to Nuchas last night and what a disappointment! I'm not talking about the food, I'm talking about hygiene and customer service. I went with a coworker and we each ordered the 3 for 8 deal, she went first and the payment didn't go through but she had already walked away. I then came up to pay and they were reluctant to return my credit card attempting to charge me for hers because they were never able to obtain authorization. The wifi never came back so I returned my untouched empanadas BUT THEY TOOK BACK MY COWORKER'S EMPANADAS AND RESTOCKED THEM! I'm not saying they should have let it slide for free but you're going to give those touched empanadas to someone else? I'll pass on this place! BEWARE!

Benson Y.

Yelp
I pass through Times Square regularly, but usually there are so many people crowded around the area you can barely see store fronts, no less a small food hut in the middle of one of the pedestrian walking areas in front of the Times Square Toys R Us. Today however, a break in the crowd allowed me to see Nuchas "inspired hand-held foods". The structure is a small one with pictures of food and faux wood paneling all around it, giving it a relatively warm and inviting look. I'm a big fan of empenadas, but it's easy to find a bad one so I'm always wary of a new place claiming to have good ones. They have four meat based ones (beef, short rib, chicken and pulled pork) and two vegetarian options (portobello or cheese and onion). I decided to go with the Short Rib (braised in red wine, onions, peppers, potatoes and herbs on a rosemary dough). For $3.00, this empenada was fairly tiny, causing it to lose one star in this review. Just an hour earlier I had seen empenadas for the same price at the Columbus Circle Holiday Market, each of which was about 1/3 larger than this one. That said, this was one pretty darn tasty empenada. You could taste the rosemary in the crust and the flavors in the short rib was fantastic. Savory, bright and best of all tender. Service was quick and courteous as well. I would like to try more of these at some point, especially the medialuna (Argentine sweet croissants)!

Win C.

Yelp
I can't really give this place a fair review because I only ordered the sweet empanada as a quick bite to eat. My mouth was watering when I read the ingredients (Granny-smith apples, cranberries, pear, Nutella, and chocolate in a white almond dough). Honestly, it was McDonald's apple pie quality. It wasn't the greatest, but yet again, I didn't try any of the other empanadas. I like the fact that they are baked and not fried. Individual pieces were of medium size. Prices range about $3-4 per empanada, $5 for 2 empanadas, $8 for 3 empanadas. Check in with Yelp and you'll get 10% off. That's my two cents for you.

Gatangalie S.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for truck food especially in NYC. Their spicy chicken and argentine empanadas are delicious. Also super cheap and quick services. If you are in the Financial District during lunch hours, this is the place to grab a bite.

Alexandra C.

Yelp
When I saw a write up on this place saying they serve Argentina style empanadas, I practically walked straight there. I've searched high and low through Manhattan and Queens but I still can't find empanadas like they made in Argentina. This place is a cute little "foodbox" in the center of Times Square. Friendly and fast help. Tried the vegetable empanada - .the filling (spinach, cheese, mushroom) was moist and delicious. The problem was they practically burned the crust. The empanada shell is too flaky, and seems to be fried since it was greasy (although I didn't ask if they are, the do not at all look or taste like the al horno (baked) style you get in Argentina. Match this filling up with a real empanada shell and you have perfection. Unfortunately I have yet to find a place that gets the crust right. Due to the pretty tiny size at a too-high 3 bucks each, I'll give it 3 stars even though it did have one of the tastiest fillings for an empanada in this city.

Rashid M.

Yelp
Was in the mood for a snack, and I stumbled across this little shack. I decided to try the Short Rib empanada. It was pretty good, but a little on the tiny side. I might go back and try one of their other empanadas.

Jenn H.

Yelp
Ok. So I did not like this place when I ate from the cart. Yes. True. Recently though, the owner wrote to me in response to my review - baring good tidings, apologies, and a second chance. And dammit, I found the response so commendable, I most definitely will! Thank you for caring. Thank you for being attentive. Thank you for being awesome. Thank you for being you! I'll try Nuchas again, until then, I raise you two stars - for awesomeness!

Cece Y.

Yelp
The employee said the Argentine Empanada is their most popular item. I ordered it and it was delicious. So good, so good. I got it for free via PayPal's mobile app promo, but I'd pay the regular $3 for it, too.

Steph C.

Yelp
Randomly came across the food truck while doing a little lunch time shopping. It worked out pretty good as I needed to grab lunch quickly on my way back to the office. Three empanadas for $9. I got the Spicy Cheese, Argentine, and Jambalaya. The Spicy Cheese was my favorite of the three. The filling was melty gooey and spicy. Argentine was second favorite. I liked the ground beef, onions, and potato combo, although I didn't really like the empanada shell as much. The Jambalaya was sort of bland to me, especially when I thought it would be the most flavorful. The other thing I didn't like as much with these empanadas is that there seemed to be a lot of air inside the shell. What should have been easy finger food got messy as the filling would just fall out after a bite. Usually they are more compact than that. Nonetheless, it was a quick hot meal. I'd get it again.

Judy S.

Yelp
So each empanada is about $3-4. They are tiny. So for a full meal, you'll definitely need at least 3-4, if not more. We were in Times Square hoping for some Korean food trucks for the Korean Festival, only to realize that there were no food trucks only lines. So starving, this was the closest thing. Tried both the portobello and the jambalaya. They were both average. Slightly greasy, not a lot of complexity in flavor, and as I mentioned already -- tiny. I think the kicker is that I've gotten larger, better empanadas at food stands for $2. Either way, not the best deal or the best food. But immensely satisfying when you're hungry and in Times Square. Navigating the tourists is a lot better while stuffing your face with empanadas.

Alan L.

Yelp
My friend wanted to try this place out because she likes baked empanadas. I've never had a baked empanadas before, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered and tried the sweet empanadas. It's apple, cranberry, and Nutella. Granny-smith, cranberries, pear, Nutella, and chocolate in a white almond dough. I wasn't that impressed. I thought it would come straight from the oven, fresh, and hot. It was cold and a little too sweet. Probably no different than a McDonald's apple pie, as my friend put it. It's only $3 per empanadas. If you get 2 empanadas it's $5. 3 empanadas for $8. Good deals, but it be better if it was straight out of the oven. FYI: check in on yelp to get a 10% off your order.

George C.

Yelp
STAND REVIEW:* More extensive and reliable selection, with increased inventory and longer hours. I returned thanks to an offer of 2 free empanadas for the issue mentioned in my review of the truck. Was unimpressed again, this time with the portobello and spicy cheese. I'd consider returning to use the Foursquare one simply for free edible food, but only with another PayPal deal or corporate comp. TRUCK UPDATE:* J) Jambalaya - their best item IMO -$4.00 *I have given up on fixing Yelp's data ignorance, but Nuchas remains a truck yet they've locked their only listing in to their newer Greeley Square B&M outpost. Even the upstart struggling PayPal mobile has them as separate entities, yet Yelp feels the need to bastardize previous reviews of the truck and changing the address to merge unmerge-able entities.

Catherine N.

Yelp
Price is decent 3 for $10 as of 11/2017 But the flavor is not there. Tried 3 mix and match based on the owner recommendation. It was A, C and S. And all three wasn't great. Good amount of filling.

Chakhay S.

Yelp
This food truck reminds me more a restaurant than a truck. You can't mistake it for anything else because it's also probably the largest food truck I've seen. The food exceeded every expectation I had of empanadas. They have this get 3 and a soda for $10 which essentially is a lunch. Their short rib empanada has so much flavor in every bite. It has this gravy inside that makes the meat and veggies sing while eating. It's not overly salty and the proportion is just right. They do this thing where they mold a letter into the empanada so you don't have to figure out which is which, it's the little things like this that makes this food truck more enjoyable. I also had the Jambalaya empanada. The dough holds all the juice and flavor of the shrimp and andouille sausage inside and after taking a bite and seeing the steam come out, I was hooked. I'm glad they fill them up so you're not left with a empty shell after the first bite. For my third one I decided to go with their dessert empanada. I read that it had nutella in it.... WHO DOESN'T LOVE NUTELLA?!?!?! It also had apples, pears, and cranberries, all wrapped in a white almond dough. If this doesn't make a believer out of you when it comes to latin desserts, I don't know what will. Granted, I wish they were a little bigger, but who doesn't want more of a good thing? They have vegetarian empanadas, but I prefer meat.

Caroline L.

Yelp
Nice quick snack if you're passing by times square. Served out of a little spot right in the middle of the walkway. *Argentine: tasty, good amount of sauce inside so watch your clothes. *Spicy Chicken: not too spicy, just the right amount. Dough is just the right crisp. They're hot, savory and can be finished in 3 bites. Good snack, not so much as fillers. We got 2 since one is $3 but you can get 2 for $5.

Glenn C.

Yelp
From the Times Square outpost. So it was 9:00 in the morning and they were out of one of my favoirte snacks, alfajores, wat. had an argrentine croissant instead, solid but not an alfajore :c Guy was semi-nice, did not understand how to pronounce alfajore for some reason,

Sara L.

Yelp
Nuchas Empanadas is a tiny, inconspicuous food truck stationed smack dab in the center of the Times Square chaos. If you're looking for a snack, it's something to consider. Otherwise, it's hard to regard 2-3 empanadas as a full meal if one has a ferocious appetite. Convenient for those passing through or who work in this area, I ultimately decided to check it out one day after a long time of resistance just because of its proximity to my office. Almost too convenient, rather inexpensive, it makes one a little wary. However, upon being able to sample some Nuchas empanadas at a Yelp event not too long ago, I was pleasantly surprised by how good their empanadas were. I unfortunately cannot say the same for the empanadas here. A poor match and false representation of their empanadas left me slightly disappointed as expectations were far from met. I advise ordering 3 empanadas, which cost only $8. Otherwise, each empanada is about $3-4, depending on the flavor. They have a good selection, ranging between meat, vegetarian, and sweet empanadas. I decided to go with a series of savory empanadas -- the Argentine (ground beef, onions, peppers, scallion, potatoes, and olives), the Spicy Chicken (chipotle, tomato, onions, peppers, and basil), and the Spicy Cheese (assorted cheeses and caramelized onion). Primary issues I had, they were too oily and the dough was overcooked. They were hardly fresh, baked empanadas. They were most likely laid out for some time only to be reheated upon your time of ordering. The skin of the dough was overly greasy, chewy, and drips of oil would flow out the bottom with each bite. The crust was too hard. The ground beef was the biggest disappointment as the beef is Pat Lafrieda beef; this empanada did no justice for Pat Lafrieda. Spicy Cheese left much to be desired and was just very greasy. I can say that the Spicy Chicken was the best out of the three, but even that one, the filling was quite mushy. All in all, their empanadas did not have the taste of fresh, baked goodness I was hoping to expect. Their staff is also less than joyous or welcoming. If you want to experience some great empanadas and actual service, check out Mama's Empanadas on 9th Ave. To note a positive, Nuchas is open till late, so if you are hungry and just need an affordable snack, it's good enough. Just don't prepare yourself to be impressed. There is more than one Nuchas in the NYC area though, so perhaps one will have better luck at another location.

Yelp
Tried their empanada at the food truck rally at prospect park. Had the jambalaya one and it was really good! Flavorful inside and crispy dough on the outside. Wish there was more shrimp inside. Price was $4 for a small empanada.

Yelp
Very good enapanadas. Favorite ones are spicy chicken and beef. However the cheese one is amazing. The spinach one is just okay. I would probably pass on it. The crusts are crispy, and still so if you have it sitting around for awhile (took some home for seconds). They are medium size. Not small as ones you usually find, and not as large as I've seen from other stores. And they are stuff pretty good with tender meats, or oozy cheese. Would revisit.

Yelp
This truck made its way to the financial district and I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there are other empanada spots in this area of Manhattan but it's nice to see one on wheels with various offerings. They have 3 meat options (rib, spicy chicken, and jambalaya) and 3 veggie options (spicy cheese, portobello, and curry which is actually a vegan option). I decided to go with the spicy chicken and spicy cheese. Both were $3. They also take plastic, which is a plus! The empanadas were piping hot and you can see the ovens inside the truck so you know they're made fresh. I tried the cheese first. While the crust was good and crunchy, the inside was all mush. I know cheese melts but this was like a bunch of different cheeses thrown together and just far too mushy. The chicken was good on the inside but the crust was just okay. The empanadas are on the medium-side. Not too small, not too large. For $6 for two, it's not a bad deal by any means. I will try another veggie option next time and perhaps the jambalaya one. The chicken and cheese empanadas were both lacking in some way. Also, they serve them in TINY paper bags that barely fit two in one. So those were hot, burning my hand, while I held my can of Diet Coke in my other hand all because of these tiny bags. They also don't give straws. It's the little things that add up to the removal of two stars but overall not a bad place for a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Located in the middle of times square on the pedestrian walk way. They serve some tasty empanadas which cost about $3-$4 each. However, you can buy 3 for $8. The empanadas have a good flaky pie-dough like texture and unlike other empanads doesn't have a really sweet taste to the dough. Nothing wrong with either style. Recommend the short-rib empanada. Specifics: In the heart of times square. you can grab a table on the walk way when the weather is warmer. Takes credit cards.

Yelp
Nuchas is a tasty snack. I ordered the Argentine, Short Rib, and Spicy Chicken - The 3 for $8 is a deal and its filling. Nuchas is successful because it is the perfect munchy food. A few made up my lunch dining al fresco in the center of Times Square. I ate here at 2pm on 7 AUG in 2015, and for fast food, these baked delights are savory and delicious. I wish Nuchas was in DC.

Yelp
They taste good, but way too spicy. Son ricas pero muy picantes. They also have alfajores (de maizena) They are really really good. Couldn't try the medialunas, may be tomorrow I will try some. $3 each empanada, they have a promotion going 3 x $8
