Best Honky-Tonks in Nashville Serve Live Country Music Nearly Nonstop | Eater Nashville

"Nudie Cohn was a fashion icon known for designing rhinestone-covered suits that made the stars shine even brighter on stage. In 2016, an homage to Nudie and his Nudie Suits emerged in the form of Nudie’s Honky Tonk, glittering with endless country music memorabilia including plenty of Nudie’s creations worn by legends like Gene Autry, Elton John, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, and Elvis Presley. The three-floor extravaganza also boasts a rooftop patio and the city’s longest bar, studded with thousands of silver dollars. Grab a beer bucket or order a Nashville hot chicken sandwich with a side of fried Oreos to fuel up for a long day of karaoke and live music, which kicks off daily at 10 a.m." - Kellie Walton

Nursing Asheville is an incredible spot—5 stars all the way. The energy is vibrant, the crowd is fun, and the music keeps the place alive. If you’re looking for a lively night out in Asheville, this is the place to be. The drinks were great, the staff was friendly, and the overall vibe made for a memorable experience. That said, just a heads-up: it gets really loud inside. If you’re hoping for a quiet conversation, this might not be the best setting. But if you’re down for dancing, socializing, and soaking up the party atmosphere, the volume just adds to the fun. All in all, Nursing Asheville knows how to bring the good times. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in town and ready for a night out with high energy and good people.

We went into Nudies Honky Tonk on a week night. Very slow venue compared to others on Broadway. Drinks were cheaper than most but probably the worst Old Fashioned I've ever had. They do have a bottle of Louis XIII behind the bar if your wallet can take the hit. Definitely could feel the history with the memorabilia on the walls and had an epic bar top with silver coins. There wasn't much of anything going on so we had 1 drink and went to the next bar. Quick service and probably much different on a weekend for atmosphere.

Google
Terrible experience on the rooftop this visit. The bartender showed zero interest in serving us and made it clear they had no desire to work or provide any level of service. Four years ago we visited and had a fantastic time which made us excited to return. Sadly the atmosphere and service have completely changed and not for the better. What was once a great stop in Nashville is now very disappointing.

Google
Super great rock band! Prices aligned with Broadway, maybe a tad cheaper. Nice bartenders and plenty of nostalgic mementos. Don't miss the car on the wall or a costume worn by Elvis!

Google
Great night out while visiting Nashville and landed here. The band played a great variety of music and interacted well with the crowd. $6 IPAs on Broadway are hard to find. We did not eat this time, but will try during a follow-up visit.

Google
We came here to see Hannah perform because people told us she was so good! And she was INCREDIBLE! We will be back because of her! And to top it off, Shay the bartender was on point! She was multi tasking! She took care of everyone and was so entertaining while she made the best drinks!!!! We loved it there! Thank you for a great time!

Google
The place is quite fun. The band was good. We were there on a weekday so it was pretty empty. We ordered food at the bar and ordered cheese fries. No chili. Fries came out with a cup of queso. We asked staff because it doesn’t list queso on menu They said they will take them back and put cheese on them. This is what we were served 🤣. Very rudely I will add. Since we ordered 2 orders we asked for a refund of 1 since it hadn’t come out yet. The wait staff had a nasty attitude about it. When you’re paying $15 per Dixie cup for a drink of watered down vodka the least you could do is melt the cheese on the fries It ruined the experience for us We will not return

The Wyck

Google
The Wyck Recommendation: Nudie’s Honky Tonk (Nashville) Rating: 3.8/5 Cadillacs Above, Punk Below, and a Shot in Between Intro Scene There’s a vintage white Cadillac hanging sideways off the wall like Elvis parked it drunk and forgot. That’s your cue: this place does not deal in subtlety. Three floors up, a rooftop with a view. Downstairs, a band is screaming into the neon-soaked abyss about love, whiskey, and some guy named Hank. Welcome to Nudie’s where country, rock, and chaos try to coexist... and occasionally collide. What Was Ordered Whiskey neat. Some things don’t need garnish. We skipped the food because when the band’s wearing “MODERNITY HAS FAILED US” jackets, mozzarella sticks don’t feel like the move. Though a drink named “Bedazzled Elvis” exists somewhere on the menu. Choose your fighter. Service Commentary Bartenders work with cold efficiency quick pours, fewer words. If you're expecting southern charm, bless your heart. If you tip well, they’ll nod. If not, prepare to be ghosted harder than your Bumble date. Service isn’t bad, just burnt out. Vibe Check Every floor is its own animal. The first floor? Wall-to-wall bodies, live country-rock fusion with some pop punk sneaking in. Second floor? A more classic honky-tonk vibe less mosh pit, more awkward two-stepping. Rooftop? DJs and daylight-drenched selfies. Nudie’s has no chill, and not all of it works. The crowd is equal parts bachelorette tribes, frat retirees, and country fans who peaked in 2011. The Space Itself Three stories of music, memorabilia, and what feels like barely controlled mayhem. Each level has its own bar and band. The infamous Cadillac looms over the first floor stage. Historic Nudie suits (rhinestone cowboy fashion icons) line the walls. Rooftop offers views of Broadway’s neon artery and a bit of breeze if the night feels too thick. About the Neighborhood Smack dab in Lower Broadway’s honky-tonk district. You're surrounded by neon bars, cowboy boot shops, and tourist traps that sell twelve-dollar hot dogs. Parking is near-impossible. Uber or scoot your way in. Ryman’s a stone’s throw. So’s Tootsie’s, AJ’s, and The Stage. Think of it as Las Vegas for country fans who left their shame in another state. Hits & Misses ✓ Three floors = three musical identities ✓ Rooftop DJ gives you a breather ✓ That Cadillac is peak Americana weird ✓ Great for photos, people-watching, and blackout singing ✗ Drinks are overpriced and occasionally mysterious ✗ Bar staff can be cold unless tipped like royalty ✗ Packed like a sardine rave after 9PM ✗ Not ideal for introverts or clean white sneakers Before You Go Expect three levels Main Floor: Country and rock covers (loud) Second Floor: Rotating live bands, more classic honky-tonk Rooftop: DJs and chill views ID at the door, even if you look 40 and broken Bathrooms? Prepare for a line and lowered expectations No cover charge (usually), but bring tip cash for bands and bartenders Broadway Culture Decoder Nudie’s is named after Nudie Cohn, designer of rhinestone cowboy suits. That’s why this bar is dripping in sparkle and swagger Unlike some spots, Nudie’s mixes genres. You’ll hear Shania, Garth, Journey, and maybe Metallica in a single set If someone spills beer on your boots, that’s the tax for existing on Broadway past 8PM Insider Tips Want to breathe? Go early, before 6PM, or stick to the rooftop See the Cadillac? Look up on your way in—it’s real Sound sensitivity? Bring earplugs. No shame Fashion tip? Cowboy boots are fine. Flip flops are a death wish Wyck Rating Matrix Category - Score / 5 - Notes Music Quality - 4.4 - Energy is high, but can feel cover-band-y Service - 3.2 - Efficient but indifferent Atmosphere - 4.9 - Visually legendary, vibe depends on crowd Crowd Vibe - 3.6 - Loud, wild, sometimes exhausting Food and Drink Value - 2.7 - Drinks are expensive, no standout bites Cleanliness - 3.5 - Surprisingly okay for the circus it hosts Final Verdict Nudie’s is what happens when a country bar throws a glam-rock tantrum and no one tells it to stop. If you’re only hitting one Broadway spot,

Yelp
Nudies is always a favorite every time we are in Nashville. Great music on the roof top. Artist did some rap and country so nice mix. We haven't good food so don't want to judge but service and drinks are always good!

Yelp
11/17/23: OMG another fun bar. Warning it's about 3 loooong flights up and nooo elevator! Upon entering a huge car hanging from the ceiling once again sensory overload. As there were no seats we headed upstairs to the rooftop area. Great choice. We actually stayed for about 3 hours listening to music. If ever in Nashville check out where Jericho Rose is performing they are amazing, entertaining and all out FUN. Note: there's a giant ice water glass container where folks achieve their own water. You order at the bar receive your number and they bring food to the table. There is a separation once you leave the covered area of the bar and walk to the open rooftop area there is security there ensuring any drinks in glass are poured Into plastic cups. Jericho Rose sang variety not only country and highly encourages requests. Throughout their performance many dirty toasts, they had us patrons in stitches. As we exited and another group performing downstairs and patrons dancing and having a great time. I truly enjoyed time spent.

Yelp
Stepping into Nudie's Honky Tonk, the vibrant pulse of country music immediately set the tone for an unforgettable night. The band's lively strumming paired with the clinking of glasses created a quintessential Nashville soundtrack. With every sip of my cold, refreshing drink, the melodies seemed to resonate even more. Surrounded by friends and a crowd of music lovers, the air was electric with shared excitement and joy. The staff's warmth and attentiveness amplified the experience, making us feel right at home among the buzz and tunes. It was a night where the music wasn't just heard, it was felt - a true honky tonk experience, complete with the kind of hospitality that keeps you coming back for more.

Yelp
Love Nudie's! Every time we are in Nashville this is a must stop. Not only does it have Nashville's Longest Bar it also has some great food, beautiful Bartenders, plenty of staff, full bar, and some of the best local music in Nashville. Foodwise my fave is the Nashville Hot Chicken Tacos so good & my Wife said some of the best Chicken Tenders she has had. Make one of your Broadway stops and Honky Tonk over to Nudie's. Cheers!

Yelp
Just drinks for us but really fun place. Service was great. Ambiance was very cool and welcoming! Bartenders were super sweet.

Yelp
The service was amazing and the drinks were delicious. Super fun energy! The band was great. We loved how long the bar was.
google avatar

Casey R.

Yelp
Shaunaliese was awesome! I came with a friend and she gave us great service. We will be back. The band was also wonderful as well.

Yelp
Amazing atmosphere!! Been here twice, 4 years apart and it was our favorite spot both times. Way Up South delivered the goods. Thank you!

K W.

Yelp
This was one the places I really wanted to check out while visiting Nashville. I wanted to see the bar and some examples of costumes. Can't comment on service because we had an elderly dog in a stroller and the bouncers at the door did not make efforts to welcome us in so one person had to stay outside and look/listen from the sidewalk. One bar (laylas honky Tonk?) did try to pull us in saying our dog was welcome but it was pretty loud but at that point we were becoming tired of logging up and down broadway.
google avatar

Yelp
more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I wanted to check this place out since i saw a few billboards on the freeway driving into nashville from the airport. when you first walk in, there is a stage for the band right next to the door. There's also a very long bar where the counter is covered in morgan silver dollars (very cool!)... also on the first floor is a gift shop located in the back of the first floor. I believe the bathrooms are located on the lower level. I didn't stay too long on the first floor and made my way upstairs. On the second level, there's similar music playing. I really don't like country music so i kept heading up to check out the roof top. I'm glad i did, there was a DJ playing top40's mostly EDM and Hip-hop, and the balcony overlooking broadway is a very cool area to people watch from up top. Drinks were alright, nothing special. I think beers were 7 bucks and mixed drinks were like 11-12 bucks? I also believe there's bathrooms on the top level of the building as well. The reason i'm giving this place 4 stars is that it has something for everyone. While the majority of the people were checking out the country bands, at least for people who don't really enjoy it, there's options for you too.

Yelp
I went to Nudie's everyday when I was in Nashville. I even came back by myself one of the days to watch the game. I really enjoy the live music here and the atmosphere. The security at the front of the bar was super friendly!!! The bartenders are super nice and beautiful!!! Thank you Nudie's for making my first visit to Nashville wonderful!!!
google avatar

Greg D.

Yelp
waited a half an hour for $10 worth of chips and gas station salsa. the only reason they brought it to me was because i reminded them.

Maddii M.

Yelp
Shaunaliese was so great here at Nudies! So personable & made the space so comfortable. She's a great attribute to Nudies! Truly love her
google avatar

Jose C.

Yelp
Nudies had a great rooftop with a beautiful view of Downtown Nashville and Broadway Street. They don't play country music on the rooftop, but the DJ was playing some great dancing music. Bartenders were great, and didnt have to wait long for our drinks. Will definitely make our way to Nudies when we're back in town.
google avatar

Lauri B.

Yelp
This was hands-down, my favorite bar on Broadway. They have the longest bar on the strip, plenty of seating, excellent service, multiple levels, like other Broadway bars, great live music, loads of nostalgic memorabilia, and Elvis' gold suit hangs in their hallway. From what I understand, the bar is named after the designer of Elvis' suit. I loved the atmosphere at this place. We stayed at the bar longer than any others. It just had a cool feel to it. There's a huge car hanging from the ceiling down toward the band. Don't miss this bar! You won't be sorry.
google avatar

Whitney H.

Yelp
We didn't eat or drink here, but we did stop in to watch, No Weak Links, an amazing band. The acoustics are good quality and the sound system is killer.

Rick D.

Yelp
friendly, fun and knowledgeable staff. Made us feel rite at home and Shared the history of the business. Go see the Gingers !
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
It's a little convoluted, but it's a good time. We came here because of a billboard, and we don't regret it one bit. On the rooftop, you have a small patio that turns into a dance floor with a DJ. On the ground floor, you've got kind of a meandering bar, performance area that stretches far back. This would be for your bands, and boy are they good! They also have cool shooters for a couple of bucks if you're feeling adventurous. We had fun for sure (it gets really hot in here) and would be back anytime. Best vibe of the whole trip and drinks are decently priced. Standing room only. You've been warned.

Sue G.

Yelp
We visited Nudie's on a Thursday afternoon. Bad first impression. Bartender was an arrogant red-headed girl who could care less about her customers. I would've given them less stars, but there was another dark-haired girl who came over to talk to us because she knew we weren't happy. We didn't eat there, so i can't say anything about the food. We just wanted to get out of there. If you want friendly bartenders and good service, visit Steve at Acme, Neil at Bootleggers, or Robert's Western World. Way more down-to-earth and caring.
google avatar

Julie T.

Yelp
Great drinks, food and the best bartender Jamie! If you go look for her- she's a beautiful Redhead with a winning smile Nashville hot chicken was delicious- they have live music on all levels- you can smoke outside in the Rooftop (bonus), while you watch the action on Broadway

Nell W.

Yelp
I had a great time here. The band was great. They took requests. The woman who sang really had a great set of pipes on her. Bartender was friendly. Patrons for into the music. Drinks: $14-$17 each. Sigh. They charge you to use your card. Pay cash!
google avatar

Kristen B.

Yelp
Food isn't great. Service isn't good. There's SO MANY amazing places to eat in Nashville. Go elsewhere: Rippy's... even the food court. GOD SPEED
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
This place is awesome. You have live music on the ground floor. A DJ spinning hip hop music outside on the rooftop floor. Pretty ladies. What a blast. :) The beer is a little expensive though.
google avatar

Erayna T.

Yelp
Stopped by this place while traversing Broadway on my first trip to Nashville, had no idea it was famous. The door dudes were super hype and friendly which is why we ended up here. Like most of the bars, there were multiple levels. We hung out at the rooftop bar, which was cool. Top floor has a DJ. One of the levels is decorated with these very sparkly, dramatic outfits worn by various country stars/musicians. I got a beer and a vodka cranberry. Also hit the ladies room, and it was clean. There was of course, live music also. We went in the late afternoon, would have liked to see what it would have been like later in the evening when things get more festive but didn't get the chance.
google avatar

Stacie W.

Yelp
We heard that this was the oldest bar in downtown Nashville, so we stopped in for a couple of drinks. The bartenders were very friendly and the band was really good!
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
This is a cool place. The car on the wall is neat and the rooftop deck is cool. We stopped here for a couple drinks when we visited Nashville in March. It was pretty cool upstairs so we only stayed a while, but the view was great. I would want to go back if we visit Nashville again and go at night when a live band is playing.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Not a huge fan. The bar was almost empty on the rooftop, the second floor was closed. We were super ripped off. We got 6 key lime shots which she said she only charged us for 5. The total was $85. I don't know about you but the mass ain't right. $17 for a shot is asinine. Especially for a key lime shot which is diluted with sprite.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
We made a stop at Nudies to hear some music and have a drink. I was a little surprised that they did not have any beer on draft. I tried the Bearded Iris homestyle IPA, a fantastic balanced IPA that I hope will be available near where I live. They do serve the wine in plastic cups, which may turn some people off though. Bartenders were friendly enough, not super engaging though.
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
Great bar good music fun atmosphere . Not as crowded as other places . Roof deck clean
google avatar

Drew M.

Yelp
So this was my first stop once I got to Nashville, we had a spicy chicken sandwich and cold beers. The food was ok nothing special. The service was kinda slow, we had to go to the bartender to get drinks and food which I really didn't like since there was a few workers just standing around talking to each other. We seen two bands and they were lousy. It's pretty sad when a band starts and after a song or two people start leaving. Needless to say we weren't impressed with the bands or the establishment. This was on 5/13/21 around 4 in the late afternoon. I personally think there's too much competition in Nashville for this place to be so bad.
google avatar

INDIA O.

Yelp
Thank God for the great performance. Great music and fun time. I wasn't a fan of the price of alcohol. Super expensive for a dive bar.

Paulo S.

Yelp
Payton was our bartender and out of all the bars I've been in my entire life she made the experience at this one be the worst I could ever think off.
google avatar

Ayana N.

Yelp
My friends and I were going into Nudie's when we were told our friend couldn't go in because of his cut off shirt. Now, he was also wearing overall's. Our friend was a gay, black man. We got out of line and noticed another man that was wearing a cut off shirt in the line. With that being said, we watched to see how the bouncer would react. He let the man in with his cut off shirt. Another one of our friends went to inquire on the dress code policy; he bouncer put his hand in her face and said," I don't wanna hear it" and " I knew you were watching me". So he clearly knew he wasn't right at all! Racist and homophonic!
google avatar

W S.

Yelp
A true taste of Nashville. Lots of music, good cheer and cold beer. What more can you ask.
google avatar

Travis P.

Yelp
Broadway in Nashville continues to be an absolutely amazing time; Let's start with that. It is almost impossible to be grumpy listening to live music and drinking booze. That being said. - this message is for management. On 10/4/22 my wife and I hopped in during the day and had an absolutely wonderful time. My bill was probably $120 and I tipped 40%. The food was solid, bartender was great... life was good Fast forward to 10/5/22. Lord have mercy the bartenders were tough. These women appeared to be angry with the crowd.. idk but it was tough.. when I closed out the bartender was disgustingly rude... the patrons next to me were offended for me. In my 40 years of life I've never tipped $0. Not once - ever.. today was the day. Absolutely pathetic display tonight. I strongly recommend you move these ladies on and get that broadway vibe back in the building!
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Definitely loved the vibe and music here!! Fun, good drinks and great service! Can't wait to come back and visit!!
google avatar

Michael W.

Yelp
Terrific experience. Friendly. Great music. Happy to have our business. Will definitely return. Fun experience.
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
Fun fun fun, that's all we seem to have a we were at this place. Everybody is super nice and friendly and the service was out of this world. If you have a chance to visit Nashville, give these folks a visit. I'm sure they're going to treat you like a star
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Worst bartenders. Ever. Rude AF. And slow. Do yourself a favor, go across the street to Dierks Bentley. Better bands. WAY better service. And great vibe.
google avatar

Gregg D.

Yelp
What a way to start off a Saturday...super fun band and great breakfast burritos! The service was great and the drinks were flowing...can't wait to come back!!
google avatar

Quy M.

Yelp
$14 for a shot of tequila was a bit silly. They do have a rooftop and there was a live band but it was a bit crowded since the area is quite small. Nothing to be impressed with.

Joseph P.

Yelp
Really cool place, great ambiance and great service! The bands harassing you for tips became so annoying I had to leave, and I love tipping!
google avatar

Raina d.

Yelp
Out on the town for a bachelorette and got turned away because one of us in our group had a Fanny pack! We asked for a reasonable explanation but just got yelled at by the security to get the F out! The. Worst. Place.
google avatar

Remi W.

Yelp
A group of 9 of us stopped in and had a great time! Totally recommend! We spent 4 days in Nashville and this was our favorite bar!!
google avatar

Chris L.

Yelp
Huge bar but understaffed. Music and food are both terrific. Definitely a must stop in full of Nashville history. Grab a drink and listen to some good music and maybe they will be able to hire a few more people.
google avatar

Catherine P.

Yelp
A friend and I were going to eat @Jason Aldean's one evening....the wait was almost 2 hrs. So we walked a few doors up Broadway and saw Nudie's Honky Tonk. I've heard my son talk about Nudie's and how good their food was, so we decided this would be our Dinner spot. Goodness....it was 1 of the BEST decisions that I've made in my entire Life! We enjoyed the 2nd level. Nice Music and the Food was AMAZING, oh and the Customer Service was like no other! Our 2nd visit to Nudie's we chose the Rooftop. Again, Great Customer Service, Delicious Food, Very Good Music, and an AWESOME picture taking background. I would give Nudie's 10 stars, if I could!

Lisa P.

Yelp
Great music. Good food (chicken sandwich, chorizo queso and salad were all better than expected). And best priced buckets we found on Broadway.
google avatar

Tammy E.

Yelp
The bartender was awesome but the kitchen screwed up a plain hamburger and put cheese on it. Then the poor bartender had to tell people The kitchen wasn't taking food orders because they couldn't keep up the orders they had.

Matilda T.

Yelp
We ordered many things as a large group, giving them copious amounts of money and tons of business. We were there for hours and then they kicked us out claiming our ID's weren't valid when they fully are and they didn't even check them, just claimed we looked. They were incredibly rude and very disrespectful and they have lost our business. We will be telling everyone to not go. They even laid hands on my girlfriend. Was wonderful at first and then took a terrible turn for the worse. HORRIBLE.
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
Sort of gimmicky sort of fun! Nudies is a multi floor bar and dance party located on flashy Broadway. We were honestly just overwhelmed with all the lights and options on broadway which seemed like a tourist trap and just full of chaos. Every bar was packed but at least didn't seem to charge cover. At first we hung out on the second floor which seemed to be the teenage floor lol everyone was really young and unattractive in a pubescent way but we stayed longer than we would like because they were playing all the hip hop music during my high school days so it was a shot of nostalgia. We then went to the rooftop which was full of smokers. The view was nice but keep in mind it's cold and you'll have to huddle around the heat lamps to keep you warm if you don't smoke. I didn't see much dancing going on in this floor. we decided to give up and leave when we landed on the first floor and there was this band singing covers. $20 a pop gets you a karaoke of your favorite rock song. It was actually the highlight of my night! The band was really good at performing together and the crowd was loving and singing along. I will say it's awkward placement to have the band set up right at the entrance and exit because as it gets crowded people push you out the entrance if you're next to it. The people here are either really intentionally aggressive or they just don't know how to dance and use their body weight to somehow push you out. That was annoying but we moved closer to the stage away from the entrance. Also side note super cool they suspended a real car on the wall.
