Coming from houston, we eat a lot of barbecue. The wife and I decided we were in the mood, and found this spot near us. The restaurant looked nice and the reviews/rating were good enough to want us to try some corpus barbecue. Let me tell you, it was a huge mistake. I've had better barbecue at buc-ee's, or "The Texan" since, buc-ee's isn't around here. On the right, I ordered the 3 meat plate, and it came with, garlic sausage, pork ribs, and brisket. The sausage was very good, I'll give them that, but the ribs and brisket were very very dry. I'm used to being able to fold the brisket over my fork and it wanting to fall apart. This didn't do that, it just looked all sad and gray, just like the flavor. I could say the same about the ribs, barely any meat and super dry. It wasn't worth the $24.50. Now, for my sides I got, the elote, and mac and cheese. I'm Hispanic, so how could I resist elote? Well, it came out had pretty good flavor, but I couldn't understand the use of tajín, it was such a weird flavor and didn't make sense. Anytime Ive ate elote, it never had tajín, it was just chile powder, but whatever I guess.
The mac and cheese was alright, not enough seasoning, the cilantro/coriander on top was so weird. Who puts cilantro on mac and cheese? The noodles were cooked good though, so that was the only thing rooting for it.
My Wife ordered the baked potato with brisket, well since I already explained the dryness of the brisket, that wasn't great either. The potato had all the fixings, good flavor but because of the brisket, it just wasn't that great. It needed barbecue sauce to help make it taste good. That ain't good barbecue in my book if you need sauce. Now, what we did like was the, SOFT PRETZEL AND BEER CHEESE. OMGGGG, let me tell you, unfortunately that picture never made it to my camera roll, because we dove in so fast. We were so tempted to order another for a late night snack. The pretzel was soft and pillowy, golden brown, nice and salty, with that delicious and creamy beer cheese. Man, it makes me want another while I'm writing this review. Anyways, unfortunately for us the food wasn't all that, I read that they used to be a brewing company and then added barbecue later on. After we ate here, I think they should stick to what they know, beer.
