My all time favorite ice cream spot in/near Denver! So underrated! Have been coming for years and the staff is always great, super efficient and the prices are affordable!

Google
Nugg’s Ice Cream is hands down one of the best ice cream spots in Denver, and I was really excited to check it out based on all the great reviews. The quality of their ice cream is fantastic—super creamy, rich flavors, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, and the staff is friendly and efficient. They’ve got a solid selection of flavors, from the classics to more creative options, and I appreciate the variety of toppings they offer. But here’s the deal: they don’t have Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups as a candy add-on. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this. Reese’s is one of the most popular ice cream toppings out there, and somehow, it’s missing from their menu? Every time I go to an ice cream shop, I’m hoping to see it as an option, and time and time again in Denver, I’m disappointed. It’s absolutely frustrating. I’m not saying this is a dealbreaker for everyone, but for me, it’s a big miss. Peanut butter and chocolate are a classic combo, and plenty of other ice cream places across the country recognize that. Why not here? It’s such a simple fix—just add Reese’s to the topping menu, and this place would be an easy 5-star spot for me. I really want to love Nugg’s completely, and I’d be more than happy to update my review if they fix this oversight. Until then, I’m sticking with 3 stars—great ice cream, great shop, but missing a key topping that should absolutely be available. If you don’t care about Reese’s as much as I do, you’ll probably love it. But if you’re like me and want that peanut butter-chocolate combo, just be aware you won’t find it here.

Google
We love this place! My favorites are the Palisade Peach and Blue Moon (kind of like cotton candy mixed with bubblegum taste), and my spouse loves the strawberry and birthday cake. They consider the strawberry the BEST strawberry ice cream they've ever had, and that their birthday cake is also one of the best birthday cake ice creams they've ever had. People working there are also very nice, they have a loyalty punch card, and the servings are generous 😇🫶💕

Google
Amazing staff, very welcoming and pleasant. They offer a wide selection of gluten-free option and even have several GF ice cream cakes. Tried a new flavor, Banana Creamin. Now my all time favorite!! It's banana pudding in ice cream form, absolutely fantastic!

Google
We tried the coffee and the brotherfinger flavors and they were honestly the best ice cream we’ve ever had in a while. Super creamy, perfectly balanced flavors, and just the right sweetness. Nuggs nails that homemade feel while still being creative with their options. Definitely our new go-to spot—can’t wait to come back and try more flavors!

Google
The BEST ice cream in all of Denver! This place doesn’t ever disappoint and extra lovely staff. Thank you!!

Google
When our friends from Germany are in town, ice cream is a daily occurrence. We decided to try Nuggs as we have tried multiple ice cream parlors in the Denver area. Nuggs was a great find. Lots of seating and parking. Their ice cream was creamy and fresh. The service was on point as we were warned that the sizes were large. I opted for two flavors in a single scoop-salted caramel and butterfinger- and got some Reese’s pieces on top. What a real creamy treat. The gal who served us was truly friendly and was very patient. We will definitely be back

Google
Went last minute with my kiddos. The selection was all still available. The queen bee, blue moon, and toasted coconut are my favorites. My kids love everything. Don't forget your ice cream stamp card for free ice cream. A very creamy delightful treat. The workers are always amazing and welcoming as well

Yelp
Some of the creamiest ice cream I have ever had! They also have a solid range of flavors and usually have a new, unique one anytime we come in every few weeks. The staff is also super friendly and lets you do as many tastings as you want!
google avatar

Inez G.

Yelp
Cheery spot to grab a delicious cold treat! The staff was incredibly friendly and the music (at least this day) was bringing all the 80s synth pop nostalgia! The flavors are creative and they're all made in house.

Yelp
This pains me to write this. Truly, it does. Our family came here for a treat after our youngest had a school performance and bonus, we had a gift card to use! The associate was friendly and my kids got to sample before committing. My littles got birthday cake on sugar cones, while the grown-ups had a banana split (you get to choose 3 scoops). They have a variety of items on their menu (see video and pics). As we went to pay, we were told their tablet was stolen a month ago and could not use our gift card. Hmmm. Not wanting to cause a fuss and understanding how busy the shop was getting, I wanted to empathize the situation, however, businesses must honor gift cards. The associate tried her best to accommodate and offered a small discount and a punch card that is worth one scoop of ice cream, about $5. The gift card has $20 value, but they could not verify due to the circumstance of a stolen tablet. We paid with our credit card, left a tip and ate on their patio. The have about 6-8 bar top tables and bench seating. As we were chatting, I pulled out a hair that wasn't mine from my side of the sundae - insert sad face. Super bummed and again, hate to write this but this was the honest experience. We will have to strongly reconsider coming back as there are several other ice shops around town to visit. The parking is limited in the lot, but there is neighborhood or street parking close by. Just wasn't our night to go to Nuggs.

Yelp
As far as my favorite ice cream shop in Denver, this would be #1 ! The brotherfinger is absolutely my favorite. I don't really even like butterfinger candy but the chocolate and crunch pieces mixed into the peanut butter ice cream is delicious. The husband loves anything with baked goods - cookies and cream, cookie dough. Not a bad flavor in stock!

Yelp
Fun. Friendly. Delightful. The ice cream is so good. The environment/ambiance is nice. Go there to have a fun time and enjoy some great ice cream.
google avatar

Yelp
Great local spot for ice cream. They had some great flavors, palisades peach, queen bee, dark chocolate cherry, double stuffed oreo and also served dole whip (strawberry and mango). Palisades peach had a nice peach flavor and queen bee (honeycomb) tasted like creamy honey. The texture of the ice cream was a little soft as it was a bit melted even when scooped but again the flavors were great. I wouldn't put it at the level as Jeni's or Graeter's but it is good and I will be back. The parking lot is very small and fills quickly but there is ample street parking around.
google avatar

Yelp
An afterschool treat before it gets really, really cold here in Denver. They have all of the typical flavors but with a twist on the names as well as a few unique locals like Pablo's coffee flavor. A great eat-in spot with kitschy decor and great music. We tried a few flavors, and while tasty and well made, nothing really popped. I will come back and try more. The service was cordial

Yelp
Ice cream! Thats's it, this review is finished. Alright, time for me to go..... wait, you're still there? I thought you got the word. The review is finished. You're puzzled? I said "ice cream." That's all you need to hear. It's all you needed to know. Not satisfied? Okay, The ice cream is delicious. How's that? Service with a smile (it's the only way ice cream should ever be served). Summer is here so let's make this clear: ice cream! Plenty of parking. Enjoy your chilled treat here or get it to go. Friendly staff. Clean inside and out. The ice cream is cold. The price is right. Ice cream!

Stacy G.

Yelp
I'm leaving a five star review without ever tasting their ice cream, but my daughter assures me it's absolutely delicious! You see, their customer service is five star worthy all by itself. My daughter is doing her annual birthday tradition of painting at the ceramics place across the street and my husband and I are missing her from miles away (in Los Angeles). Without hesitation, they delivered a sundae to surprise her - and even personalized it! Thanks for being great people - and it doesn't hurt that your coffee ice cream is fantastic!!
google avatar

Amber D.

Yelp
I have been to Nuggs multiple times and am never disappointed. So many ice cream flavors to choose from and they are all delicious-you can't go wrong! The staff is always so friendly and happy to let you try as many samples as you want to find the best flavor for you. Has adorable outdoor and indoor seating. Patio is dog friendly!
google avatar

Yelp
My first visit to Nuggs certainly won't be my last, as it was such an enjoyable stop at the end of a very long day! There is plenty of parking in their adjacent lot and street parking on Colfax. They have both inside and outside seating. There is fun artwork all around the interior that brightens the place. They have a loyalty card, so when you buy single scoops or spend $50, you get one on them! Staffer Victoria was excellent, full of energy, and proving that she LOVES working at Nuggs with her favorite five flavors and a positive attitude. I selected the Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and it was incredible, a superb combination that I truly enjoyed. Their serving sizes in a cup were just the right size! I'm looking forward to my next stop at Nuggs!

Yelp
Came here after dinner for a sweet treat with friends, and they all ordered ice cream. I didn't but sampled everything they got because each scoop is huge. Love the variety of flavors available, which you can see posted above the queue. There seemed to be a long line but worth the wait. Quite a few people brought their dogs on the outdoor patio. Overall chill vibes!

Yelp
Probably my favorite ice cream that I've tried in the Denver area! They have a great selection of flavors, and the ice cream is amazing. It's extra creamy and not too sweet, with flavors that really pop. I also appreciate how large the scoops are, so makes the $6 feel worth it. Definitely an ice cream place worth visiting if you're in the area!
google avatar

Harlee S.

Yelp
What a cute spot. Definitely great for a little date or family fun time. It looks bigger than it is, so if the inside is all taken, the patio out front can seat a lot more people. The menu is a bit confusing, but it's unique and fun the way they've set it up. Unfortunately, they were out of the flavor that I wanted so I had to choose something else. Chocolate Cookies N Cream. So creamy and made with big chunks of oreo, which I appreciate. And the waffle cone was possibly the tastiest I've ever had.
google avatar

Jodie M.

Yelp
Can't say I'm super blown away by the ice cream flavors when I tried them. They have a cute play on the ice cream names like Brotherfinger, Amazing Joy and that sort -- so I'll give them that. I got a scoop of Cookie Dough which IMO is good since they are generous with the chunks of dough. They have their own private parking lot but it can get full pretty quickly depending on the time of day. You can just park in the residential areas as an alternative.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
The Denver ice cream wars are real, but our family does have its favorite: Nuggs! They always have a new flavor to bring delight, consistently rich, balanced recipes with perfect texture (dense and creamy). Flavors aren't too experiential, our preference. Staff engaged and friendly. Fun art on the walls.

Yelp
Great place for a sweet treat. Came here on a Friday night and there was quite a line. I felt for the workers as the place closes at 10 and by the time we paid it was 9:30pm and the line was still out the door. They had lots of options and cute names for the flavors. It did take a minute because the people were asking for so many samples. Beyond annoying and inconsiderate when there is a massive line so close to closing. lol I don't know how those workers have such good patience. I suggest implementing a two sample per person limit. I will definitely come back for a guilty pleasure treat. Great for families as well. Inside and outside seating available as well as a private parking lot. Expect to pay around $5 - 10 dollars per person depending on what you get. Overall 4/5

Yelp
This place is my favorite neighborhood ice cream spot. The space is cute and the staff are always friendly and patient. I love trying out new flavors as they're always tasty.

Yelp
My Addiction aka Queen Bee is soooo amazing that I stop here every time I visit Denver. Honey ice cream... seriously the best invention ever ever ever! Love Nuggs. Come check this place out.

Yelp
I first came to Nuggs over three years ago. I thought it was delicious and could not wait to come back and try taco Tuesday...somehow it fell off my radar and took me way longer to make it back! Stopped in on a Tuesday and got three tacos ($10.49). It was actually such a great deal! 3 waffle cone taco shells, each with a huge scoop of ice cream and unlimited toppings. We (2 hungry adults) couldn't even finish it all. We went with double stuffed cookies 'n cream, toasted coconut, and mint chip, with some Oreo and samoa toppings. We probably would've loaded up the toppings a bit more, but didn't realize they were all included, and there was already a line forming due to our flavor indecisiveness. I fully intended for the tacos to be "cute" and "Instagram-able" while falling a bit flat in taste, but this truly was sone of the best ice cream I have had in a long while! So incredibly smooth, creamy, and delicious. I am not a mint chip fan, but I actually liked Nuggs' mint chip! The toasted coconut and cookies n cream were incredible and I couldn't stop eating, despite being absolutely stuffed. I have been dreaming of those scoops since we left. Nuggs has a small parking lot, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. They are back to doing flavor samples too. I will be back [probably sooner and more frequently than I should]!
google avatar

Yelp
Our kids are big ice cream connoisseurs, so we've been to pretty much every ice cream shop in town. Nuggs is consistently their favorite! They have unique flavors and always something new and exciting to try. The staff doesn't shy away from giving samples, so you always know you're getting what you want. The patio is super cute, especially all lit up at night. Our newest kid is their newest fan and we're looking forward to coming back all summer long (and beyond). This particular ice cream was called Strawberry Blonde - strawberry ice cream with golden Oreos. Delicious!
google avatar

Janna J.

Yelp
I went to visit my brother in Denver and we kept passing this place. Finally, we had an opportunity to stop by and it was too bad it was our last night because I would have loved to go back again. Lots and lots of flavors with lots of mix in options. I got the strawberry ice cream (which had golden Oreos in there already) with more golden Oreos mixed in. It was so good and the staff was so nice! This is on the top of my list when to visit when I return!

Gretchen C.

Yelp
The service was amazing! However they were extremely understaffed. I came on a very busy night and the workers were so nice but physically couldn't move the line fast because of how little people were working.
google avatar

Katie H.

Yelp
I love Nuggs! We visit every time we're in Denver...I can't believe I haven't written a review before now. They have fun and bright decor, parking, clean bathrooms, friendly service, and a wide variety of flavors of delicious ice cream. Truly, what more could you want!? They were gracious enough to let me sample multiple different flavors today and they were all great...it was hard to choose! I finally settled on a split scoop of peanut butter and jammin' and Mexican chocolate...both were creamy and they paired well together. The peanut butter ice cream was so good and it had chunks of fresh strawberry jam throughout - yum! The chocolate was rich with a hint of spice. I love that they let you do split scoops as well :) Thank you again for a great experience, Nuggs!
google avatar

Sobia B.

Yelp
They have so many flavors! The scoop size is shareable for one scoop between two people. Sometimes the flavors are hit or miss but you can sample as many as you want! They ice cream is very thick!
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
My daughter & I love this place. We go here at least once a week. The cookies & cream is the best!

Jody J.

Yelp
The ice cream was great. I had a hangry snickers and chocolate chip shake. They had whip cream which made me happy. They also put my large shake in a large cup. They earned my 5 stars just for that. Every other place in Colorado puts a large shake or smoothie in a medium cup. My wife had a honey bee and dark chocolate cherry sundae which she loved. My daughter had cookie dough and cookies cream. The ice cream was just inhaled. lol. The service was already at five stars when he pulled out the large cup and whip cream. I was like Nuggs is s my next ice cream stop sorry sweet cow you have been toppled . The ambiance was good and surprisingly a clean bathroom. Nuggs keep it up for actual large cups for my 9 dollar shake. Expensive but well worth it on the large cup. I would pay the same at most other ice cream places and get half the ice cream. So Nuggs keep it up. I have just become a return customer.

Alicia M.

Yelp
Nuggs ice cream is soooooo good. Homemade. Try the honey bee flavor. Definitely worth the stop. Longtime Denver resident. Loyal supporter of Blessed Sacrament School. We can't say enough good things about Nuggs.

Yelp
Came here a few months back for dessert after a lovely dinner and this was the perfect ending to our evening. I'm kicking myself because I can't for the life of me remember what I ordered, but I specifically remember telling my husband it was some of the best ice cream I've ever had and let me tell you folx, I consider myself an ice cream connoisseur. That's all I really have to say. Amazing. Epic. Come see for yourself.

Marie W.

Yelp
We stopped here for a quick snack. The ice cream was wonderful! However, the sign on the window said they serve Denver roasted coffee. However, they only serve cold brew. I was terribly disappointed because I wanted a good cup of hot coffee.

Lauren H.

Yelp
Service was amazing! Young girl working at 6:30 pm on Thursday, was so sweet and helpful. She deserves a raise! I'm serious she was so passionate about the store and the owners, and knowledgeable about the flavors! The ice cream was really delicious too. Great little place we ran into!
google avatar

Jocelynn K.

Yelp
The ice cream was a bit hard, but the flavors were good! Tried the brotherfinger in a cup.
google avatar

Yelp
I Was Here On Friday, I Absolutely Love Their Shakes and Ice-cream Is Amazing. Been Coming Here Since They Opened The Doors. Will Definitely Be Bringing My GrandDaugther's Here Soon.

Yelp
Awesome ice cream. Very nice theme. And the service is great people were very nice. I love nuggs ice cream

Yelp
If you read my prior review you'll see that I'm a fan of dark chocolate ice cream. So today, having had chicken and potato salad for breakfast I figured . . . why not get a Naiman's Dark Chocolate and Cherry milkshake for lunch and finish hitting up all the food groups with that one brilliant menu choice! Great idea, huh? Well maybe it sounds like a stroke of genius to you, but for me when I went in for that inspired order little did I know that the milkshake would run me $30. Thirty dollars! What!?! How could a milkshake cost that much, you innocently ask. Well, check out the pix. It really does matter how your cups are made. Plants / shmantz. Give me a cup that doesn't have a crack in it that lets your shake shake-out all over your nicely dry-cleaned shirt and pants, and I'll show you a shake that costs a quarter as much (before tax, tip and dry-cleaning:). There must be a lesson here. And I'm trying to figure it out. Is it that every joy comes with a sadness? Or maybe that you never know what life has in store for you? Beats me. But here's what I do know: 1) That shake was dee-lish-ous, and 2) that mess on my shirt and pants was kinda embarrassing when I had to go to the bank on my way back to work.
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
I got the Rocky Mountain road ice cream with m&ms as a topping and it was delicious! I love all their topping options and definitely want to come back to try more flavors. It was a convenient stop after visiting the Nature and Science Museum, although there was a bit of a line and limited available indoor seating at 9pm on a Friday night.
google avatar

Maggie L.

Yelp
What a fun little spot! Went by for National ice cream day of course, and the service was fast and friendly despite having a line out the door. I loved the wide variety of flavor options and the ice cream was creamy and smooth, just how I like it. Definitely gonna become a summer staple!
google avatar

Alana L.

Yelp
There are so so many good ice cream places in Denver, it's really hard to decide which one to go to on any given night when the craving hits. But...Tuesdays are Taco Tuesday at Nuggs and it's a treat. For $9.99 you get 3 "tacos" in a waffle cone shell with 1 scoop of ice cream and unlimited toppings on each taco. The possibilities are endless and the staff has been super patient every time. The flavors are varied and creative although not as loaded as places like Right Cream or Little Man.
google avatar

Ken M.

Yelp
Great ice cream and atmosphere is amazing! Service is hard to beat. My son loves it here and he is 8 so he knows what's is good ;)
google avatar

Jane R.

Yelp
Nuggs was my first ice cream experience in Denver and seems to be a solid choice to satisfy your cravings. During COVID-19, the shop has thoughtfully laid out markers for appropriate physical distancing and has a great patio layout for you to enjoy your ice cream outside. I went at about 8pm on a weeknight and waited in line for about 10 min. As soon as you walk into the store, you get a nice waft of their waffle cone. It immediately convinces you that a waffle cone is the right choice. I was excited to check out the flavors and thought it was a bit difficult to see all the choices before having to make my decision based on the spacing between parties in the line, but they do have written signs that are visible. I thought that their flavor selection was pretty classic with a good range of flavors to appeal to any ice cream lover. I loved the coffee ice cream I chose, but wasn't as big of a fan of the mint chocolate chip, which didn't have as much of a unique or rich flavor that I would have liked. I think it was more of a personal preference though. The ice cream is certainly a bit pricey though, so that is why I'd dock it from a 5 to 4 based on the value for taste. Next time, based on these reviews, I'm going to have to try their ice cream cake and/or cookie ice cream sandwich. Looking forward to trying new flavors and combinations!
google avatar

Alese B.

Yelp
Step 1 - Recognize that your husband deserves an excellent bday cake but that you aren't going to bake it or make it this year. Step 2 - Google "best ice cream cake Denver" Step 3 - enter Nuggs' website, which states that they "always have cakes in the case for last-minute pickup" Step 4 - stop on your way home from work, secure cookies and cream cake (Yelp says best flavor) Step 5 - watch your husband and his family demolish said cake Next time - get a scoop to-go for all your hard work.

Yelp
Really great local ice cream shop with cookie sandwiches the size of your face!! Value: 5, Taste: 4.5, Atmosphere: 5, Service: 5 We just moved here and were really sad about losing our favorite ice cream place back home - needless to say we found our new regular ice cream place. They have a ton of really great flavors and they have a couple of fun options including the ice cream sandwich, floats, etc. The ship itself has some nice outdoor seating and has a cute old time ice cream shop feel inside. We got the ice cream sandwich with coffee ice cream and praline (you can choose two flavors). We were stunned that for $8 we got two huge chocolate chip cookies the size of a take out container sandwiching two generous portions of ice cream. The cookies were just the right amount of crispy to hold their shape but slightly soft in the center still. The coffee ice cream was some of the best coffee ice cream I have had and had a great rich flavor and smooth texture. The praline ice cream could have used a more buttery base ice cream (I think they use vanilla), but there were lots of tasty pecans. Overall, we have found our new favorite ice cream place! Great tasting ice cream at a great price/portion size.

Carol B.

Yelp
Lovely service except for the manager, Aaron. Aaron was generally condescending and seemed like he was on some sort of stimulant. Perhaps it was caffeine, or he just has a lot of energy, but it was very off-putting. Will definitely think twice before visiting again.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Nuggs. I basically come here every Friday... Nuggs is located on Colfax and is one of my favorite ice cream shops in Denver. Although I always order the exact same thing (cookie dough and double stuffed cookies and cream), there are always large chunks in my ice cream and that's exactly what I'm looking for when I visit. Generally on a Friday night it's pretty busy, but the staff do a great job of moving the line along and answering any customer questions about the varieties of ice cream available. They have some seasonal flavors alongside some mainstays which make each visit a little different. The longest I've waited was probably around 10 minutes to get a scoop of ice cream. Their one scoop comes out to $5.13, which isn't too bad of a price for the quantity of ice cream you get. You're also able to do half/half scoops if you can't decide which flavor you want and end up choosing both! I love this place, and have started thinking about their ice cream just while writing this...
google avatar

Janet V.

Yelp
The employees are very nice and quick to serve you. Two stars since the employees are nice. Not impressed with their ice cream at all. It is not smooth and lacks flavor. I was really excited to try their ice cream but for the over $5 I spent for a single scoop, I'm not impressed with the flavor and would have been better off getting a carton of ice cream at King Soopers. I took a few bites and the rest is going in the trash.

Yelp
Loved the custom ice cream cake! Biomutant theme was adorable, made my boyfriends day!! Thank you!!

Yelp
Fun Food Fact: Ever had a "brain freeze?" Well, what's actually happening: when something really cold touches the roof of your mouth, the blood vessels that run between your mouth and your brain tense up, trapping blood in your brain. The pressure from that extra blood causes the brain pain. Try pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth -- this warms the roof up enough that the vessels will unclench. Wish I would have known that earlier lol when I was chowing down on this massive ice cream sandwich from Nuggs Ice Cream. No complaints though - totally worth it!! And I'm not kidding when I say massive (neither are they - that's what it's called) and I definitely wasn't prepared. It's more than enough for 2 people and you get to choose two flavors of ice cream. Today I went on the sweeter side with Strawberry Blonde and Cake Batter (both were creamy, ice creamy deliciousness) but there were no shortage of flavors to choose from. My hubs opted for a root beer float and it was easily gone before we got home. This was our first visit but certainly not our last - and with 90° degree days in the forecast, I have a feeling we'll be back much sooner than later.

Yelp
This was the first place we went after some restaurants opened up following COVID-19. They're doing a great job with precautions, only 10 people allowed inside, 16 on the patio which they have conveniently taped spaces on the benches so you know where to sit to remain 6 feet apart, and one of the workers came out and sanitized the door and benches while we were there. Their ice cream was tasty! I got the midnight raz which is similar to black raspberry, my only complaint is it had a lot of seeds in it that got stuck in my teeth, but that leads me to believe it's more fresh! My boyfriend got brother finger (I think is what it was called) and said it was really good!

Yelp
Had the Mexican chocolate- it was so so good! Husband tried the mama bear which is like a blueberry muffin and he said it was delicious
