"Numazu Club comprises a restored 1907 teahouse and a guestroom complex built in 2006. The old building is a paragon of the sukiya style, an austerely refined approach to the classic tea ceremony; the new building utilized venerable wood-and-clay construction techniques to match the serene architecture of its companion." - Mark Fedeli

My husband and I stayed at Numazu Club Oct 2 - 3. We really enjoyed our stay in all respects. The architecture of the hotel and the hotel garden grounds were absolutely beautiful. The garden was a traditional Japanese garden perfect for taking a stroll. We also really enjoyed dinner and breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The restaurant itself is located inside a historical Japanese tea house which being able to eat within was an experience onto itself. Also the food at the restaurant was a fusion of Japanese and Szechuan cuisine, which brought out the best of both cuisines. Finally, a shout out to the staff, especially general manager Imai-san, who really went out of their way to make our stay welcoming. Imai-san showed us a hidden path to the Senbonhama beach for awesome views of the ocean and Mt Fuji. Also after dinner our waiter kindly gave us a tour of the traditional Japanese tea house that the restaurant sits in. On a last note, our room was also really great. We stayed in a western style room on the second floor. The room was spacious and design was a mix of Japanese and western style with a large balcony overlooking the hotel grounds. Also the room itself was very well maintained and contained a full set of qualities amenities.

A perfect place to slow down for a few days. The rooms are well appointed, everything looks and feels brand new. Outside of each room is a private soaking tub and shower. The grounds are beautifully manicured and tremendously peaceful. They also have spa with dry and steam saunas, cold plunge and hot tubs. The restaurant is amazing with traditional Japanese and Chinese meals. The staff is lovely and very attentive.

Our first trip to Japan brought us to Numazu Club, and it quickly became the highlight of our journey. Nestled between Tokyo and Kyoto, we were seeking a peaceful retreat, and Numazu delivered far beyond our expectations. Perhaps it was the contrast to the bustling cities or the fact that Numazu felt wonderfully authentic, with hardly any tourists in sight, but this hotel experience was truly unforgettable for my husband and me. The hotel itself is exquisite—beautiful architecture, elegant interiors, and serene gardens. The rooms were equally impressive. What stood out the most, though, was the exceptional staff. Their genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel completely at home, with the manager setting a standard of excellence that is hard to find. The dining experience was equally superb. The breakfasts, whether Chinese or Japanese, were a feast for the senses—perfectly presented and full of flavor. Enjoying these meals in the historic ryokan setting made it all the more special. I cannot thank the staff enough. Memories are the most precious souvenirs we take with us, and Numazu Club gave us some of the best we’ve ever made. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

Numazu-club is neither Japanese ryokan nor hotel. This is an auberge with spa in Japanese Garden. The modern guest room facing to the pond of the country yard is well designed in flavor of wood. The room of second floor is perfectly western style, but I'd like to recommend to stay at the first floor's room with tatami-room for bed room. You can enjoy a dinner in the old original Japanese housings surrounded by Japanese garden in natural style. Food is superb! After dining, you can see whole of the Japanese housing including the room used for "SHOGI" master game. It takes only ten minutes walks to Fish Market in where you can see many Sushi bars. The best one is "Futaba-sushi" , if you choose a set of sushi from menu the price is reasonable and not "cheap and nasty".

Numazu Club is in a quiet town famous for its port in Shizuoka and fish market. To get to the hotel we needed to take a taxi, about 10 minutes and were greeted at the gate by the receptionist. Through the garden, past the tea house and into the main building. A space which is as humble as stunning. Guided to our room on the first floor we could appreciate the architecture that framed views of the old Japanese house and forest. The apartment was clean, simple and beautifully presented. Outside was a large Japanese private bath, inside shower room, kitchenette. High quality materials throughout. We booked the communal hot spring for private use. This was somewhat confusing as there wasn't a door to the changing area and it felt as though someone may come in. If you book it privately, men and women can share, we used the larger male bathing area. There is an option to have dinner at the hotel in the old house but we opted to take the short walk to the port where there are plenty of sushi restaurants. It is better to arrive at the hotel early as many restaurants close early. The town is very quiet and the people are friendly, food is inexpensive. ||||After a good nights sleep, we checked out at noon. The receptionist kindly gave us a tour of the Japanese house and told us about it's history before we left. It was fascinating to be able to enter such a building. I would definitely stay at Numazu Club again. It may be a little pricey, but well worth it and such a relaxing experience.

Pictures suggest a view of Mount Fuji. But there isn't.||However the staff were very friendly and although they had limited English||they were helpful. Raw fish for dinner and breakfast was challenging for this||meat eater but I survived and actually enjoyed the experience.
