Best Italian Restaurants in Houston, Texas | Eater Houston

"Numero28, the Highland Village outpost of the New York chain, offers Southern Italian cooking. Choose from its sizable menu of pizzas with red or white sauces, pasta dishes like pollo alla Parmigiana and cacio e pepe, or roasted pork belly wrapped around pork loin and seasoned with fresh herbs. The dining room is nicely casual, but don’t sleep on the covered patio area either." - Marcy de Luna

If you like excellent Italian cooking, including authentic pizza, without breaking the bank, N28 is your restaurant!! Every time I dine there the food is excellent and, most of all, authentic! Their attentive service is excellent as well. Try it you won’t be disappointed!!

We finally came to Nunmero28. Let’s start saying that I had big expectations about this place due to the reviews. I went with some friends and we order the meatballs, arancini, carpaccio, focaccia and the olives. As main, we ordered the cacio e Pepe, bolognese pappardelle and the pesto gnocchi. After reviewing and receiving the feedback from the business, decided to amend my original post. I’ve tried a lot of Italian food, and is also my favorite and this was good just not my preference.

As Italians, it’s rare to find a restaurant abroad that truly makes us feel at home—but this place did exactly that! The food was absolutely delicious: authentic, wholesome, and prepared with real care. Every dish had that unmistakable homemade flavor, just like the meals we grew up with. A special thank you to Daniele, who was incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming. He truly went above and beyond to make everything perfect and made us feel like we were among longtime friends. His warmth and hospitality really made the difference. We would come back every single day if we could. If you’re looking for genuine Italian food and heartfelt service, this is the place. Highly recommended! 🇮🇹❤️

Italian here, been in Houston for the past 10 years. This place perfectly catches the atmosphere of an authentic Italian dinner. From their spritz, to their appetizers and their pizzas, the quality of food is top notch. It is obvious that there is a lot of care in choosing high quality products that highlight the flavors of the Italian tradition. Plus, the staff is really dedicated to make your experience excellent! Daniele is very nice and makes a wonderful pizza (along with pizza suggestions for those who are undecided!). Diego is a professional and knowledgeable manager that, with his welcoming manners, came to our table for a very pleasant conversation! You'll want to come back!

Nice place, good location (located in Highland Village behind Crate and Barrel). We arrived and were seated immediately, without a reservation. The staff was very attentive (Roberto, our waiter), always keeping an eye on the table. They have happy hour from Monday to Friday from 4-6pm, we ordered a Bruschetta Trio (very good), Chicken Parmigiana (very good flavor), Cacio e Pepe (it's a good experience since they serve it to you at the table and it has good flavor), Caesar salad (the dressing was too good, highly recommended). Quite a spacious bar with a good selection. I ordered a Litchi Martini, which was ok, but it wasn't one of the best. Perfect place for a date night, going out with friends or any occasion.

We ordered the famous cacio e Pepe which my friend loved for its vintage cheese taste. Not my preferred choice. Calamari was a little salty to my taste but the marinara dip made it better with the nice touch of green and perfectly fried zucchini. Margherita Pizza was perfect for our taste. For desert we ordered cannoli crisp and delicate on the outside, luxuriously smooth on the inside. The ambiance of the place is modern and vibrant however a little bit small compared to other restaurants. Similar pricing to other places. The experience was good especially when they have a plate with 2 cannoli’s and a happy birthday note for my friend

We went for our anniversary. I’d been lured in by the cacio de Pepe ( pasta twirled in a cheese wheel tableside) and it was delicious comfort food. Our server was clearly well versed in the menu, and when we said we’d take tiramisu to go, he got a funny micro expression that made us ask if that was something he’d recommend. As you can see in the video- we would have missed out on a lively presentation. Thank you so much to the kitchen servers for creating a lovely lunch memory for a couple of hungry married people who found a place they can agree upon. 😉

Google
Wonderful place if you’re looking for a chill & relaxed spot for a birthday dinner or anniversary. Our server, Nico (I hope I spelled that right) was a great service provider & answered any questions we had. The food was amazing!

Yelp
Cute restaurant. Chicken parm was good enough. Expensive drinks. I'm writing this review in exchange for free cake.

Yelp
Food is AMAZING and came out SO quickly. Our server was so nice and patient with out big group! Also such a cute place for a night out! Would highly recommend! Will be back!

Yelp
Awesome food but better service. highly recommend! The cacio e pepe was the best. So good! small and quaint. feels homelike.

Yelp
I love their mushroom truffle pizza and eggplant parm. If I go back, these will be my gotos. I really really enjoyed it. The wine was good as well. But the portion is super small so definitely take that into account when ordering in large group. I went with six people and ordered six dishes and we kinda left hungry. I also got their cheese bowl pasta and gnocchi - those are ok :/ gnocchi felt kinda raw - has a mochi texture.

Yelp
My family and I came to this restaurant in celebration of my little sister's birthday. The restaurant was very cute. It was on the corner of a shopping center, and it felt like little Italy and at night when the sun has dropped the lights inside the venue made it feel even more beautiful like Italy and I've never been to Italy. When we arrived, we were immediately seated because we had a reservation however, it did take service a little while to start. We sat with our menus for at least 10 to 15 minutes before being asked about drink service. Which was a little shocking because the venue was so small and it wasn't as busy. I ordered the hibiscus margarita, which was amazing. It was delicious! We also ordered appetizers which were bruschetta and calamari. The bruschetta was good. It was three different types of bruschetta, and the calamari was an average and wasn't much flavor. For dinner, I ordered the Pollo àlla Parmesan a.k.a. chicken Parmesan. For the most part, the chicken Parmesan was OK. I felt like it was overpowered with tomato sauce but other than that it was a decent size meal and it tasted OK. I would recommend this place, but I definitely will try a different things on the menu just to see what they have to offer

Yelp
I went with a friend who was dying to try Cacio e Pepe in the cheese shell. She was not impressed but was able to mark that off her bucket list. I had pepperoni pizza and picked off the pepperoni because I like the greasy flavor but not the actual pepperoni. When I saw the pizza it looked very northern Italian, thin, charred crust but that's where it ended. My pizza had a good flavor but the center was wet and floppy not crispy through and through. It is a tight space and the table we had was right in the middle of the server path from the outside tables to the kitchen, so no bueno. They had both eggplant Melanazane and Chicken Parm. When I asked our server if they could make eggplant parm, it was a flat out no. Not even a fake "let me ask the chef" just nope. It's a place for regulars I guess. *Added information to respond to Diego* I don't usually engage in back in forth however, your response implies that my review was not honest. Having spent several months in various parts of Italy on work assignments and personal vacation, I'm well aware of what Cacio is and never questioned your preparation. I merely stated that she was not impressed. Whether it is what you're famous for or not, SHE was not impressed. I assume your other customers ARE impressed. In fact she chose your restaurant because of reviews and TikTok videos. I suggested Fiori. As for the eggplant dish, if your menu shows eggplant parm and not eggplant melanazane, my mistake. But I pointed to it on the menu, asked for what I wanted, to ensure the eggplant would be breaded, not lasagne style. I was told no, and that was the end of it. It's not like I knocked over a table and stomped out. I merely ordered something else, paid my tab, tipped the server and left...now never to return again, for sure. I understand how moisture works, thanks. The pizza was soggy in the middle the crust around the edges was great. Factual and lastly, I consider a space tight, not cozy, when the servers have to turn sideways to get between the tables and still knock my purse off the back of my chair every time. Otherwise, I might take that action as personal. I prefer to categorize it as tight, at least that's what I hope it is. Now you have me wondering Sorry I couldn't review the restaurant image you carry in your head. Egad, take the feedback and do better! Grazie.

Yelp
3 take aways - Over rated, over priced and underwhelmed. Service was slow but it was crowded the night we went, and be forewarned that this place is tiny. Table started off with garlic focaccia bread basket and carpaccio di manzo. Bread serving was 5 thinly-sliced tasteless pieces. The carpaccio was just ok. Table orders consisted of ccio e pepe (the ever popular pasta tossed in a cheese wheel), penne alla boscaiola and a special that consisted of chicken piccata with a side of spaghetti. The cheese wheel dish was more show than taste, and the other items were slightly better than mediocre and certainly not show stoppers. Will I be going back? No

Yelp
Friday night & pasta it is! Numero28 was well served. I was craving a spicy vodka pasta unfortunately they had vodka pasta with chicken fajita, which was actually pretty good. I was just craving the spice part. This was on their special menu, not on their normal menu. Sauce to pasta ratio was great. Portions and price are just what we need now a days.

Yelp
Great food , we had the pizza and it was amazing . They have a cute little outdoor seating thats pretty nice
google avatar

Cheryl D.

Yelp
My visit at No 28 was perfect for a solo Sunday dinner. The seating outdoors was covered and intimate. The staff was pretty efficient serving guests. There was an issue with part of my order and they happily corrected things and provided a different entree option.

Yelp
A nice spot for Italian food! I appreciate that there is parking available in the lot. The space is nice and cozy, there's also an outdoor space. Really enjoyed the cacio e pepe as it comes out in the cheese wheel, they toss it in front of you and then plate it. Super flavorful and cheesy! Also tried the garlic focaccia which was a nice little side/starter. Would love to come back to try their brunch menu!

Yelp
Ambiance was great. You'll will like you're in a little restaurant in Italy tugged away. Service was wonderful. The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. Food was delicious. We loved all the appetizers we ordered and the pastas. The tiramisu was the best icing on top of a great meal!

Yelp
Our experience here on Valentines was, in a word, bad. From service, ambiance, to food. Just bad. All around. We came mid-afternoon when they weren't busy. Maybe 1/3 capacity. Plenty of workers. But nobody really working. Just standing around. We didn't even have a waiter. Throughout the time we were there nobody ever came by to check on us. At every corner we had to ask the hostess for something: for Water. To Order. To order dessert. To get doggy bags. To get the check. Our candle wasn't working and I told the hostess but nobody came to help us. So I had to exchange it myself with an empty table. Pathetic. Also there is no complementary bread. It's $9. That's criminal in an Italian restaurant imho. The restaurant is small and tight. Folks weren't kidding. And parking was bad. It's a small lot for some big name stores that share it. If full try parking across the street which is also open to highland village shoppers in general. We love the flair so we had to get the Cacio E Pepe served in a cheese bowl. I tried a piece and it was severely undercooked. I like Al dente but this was super hard. More like dente rotto. I didn't say anything to my kid because I didn't want to taint her mind and make her not want to eat it. But after the first bite she asked "why is this so hard?" She only took 2 more bites at my behest and then quit. So even a kid could tell how hard it was. I asked her how was the flavor at least and she said it has no taste. I tried another bite and she wasn't lying. Bland AF. I gave her my fries which actually weren't bad so she wouldn't go hungry. I ordered the porchetta and it, on the other hand, was severely overcooked. Super duper tough and dry. It was like eating the sole of my shoe. We both thought the tiramisu dessert was good. It too has a bit of tableside flair. Near the end of our meal, they started giving every table a rose. That was a nice touch. If she's with me, I always ask my kid how many stars to give the restaurant. My kid gives every single place 5 stars. No matter how bad it is. But this time, for the first time, she gave it only 2 stars. One star for the rose and the other star for everything else. I thought that was being generous. About 2 hours after dinner there, my daughter had a stomach ache, which she never gets. Maybe they had a bad day. But honestly if so, then it was a really really bad day.

Yelp
We're so happy to have finally tried this highland village restaurant. The service was fantastic and made great recommendations. We tried the arancini and alla jimmy pizza. Both were great and we'd get again. Loved the tang of the sauce and crisp of the crust! The tiramisu was delicious and preferred over our usual small Italian place. Plenty of parking and a great little wine and cocktail menu. We'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this quaint restaurant out after work. Since the restaurant is small and it's located in Highland Village, there were plenty of parking options. We were quickly seated and the waitstaff was very helpful. We decided on ordering cacio e pepe, chicken parmesan, and bucatini all' amatriciana. Cacio e pepe - 7/10 - It was good, but I think the pasta could have been cooked an extra 30 seconds-1 min as it was a little hard and not al dente. We also ended up adding in extra cracked black pepper, which definitely helped balance out the meal. Chicken Parmesan - 8/10 - This is my favorite chicken parm I've had at a restaurant, but the side of spaghetti marinara sauce left a lot to be desired. The marinara sauce lacked flavor and was not appetizing, which is why I had to knock this down a point from a 9/10 to 8/10. Bucatini All' Amatriciana - 10/10 - This was by far our favorite dish of the night. The sauce was delicious, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and it went together perfectly. We ended up taking the spaghetti from the chicken parmesan and put it into the leftover sauce from this dish which made a world of difference. Now, despite the food being overall quite delicious, the reason I gave this place 3/5 stars instead of 4/5 is because of the prices of their zero-proof drinks. It is absolutely outrageous that they are charging $8 for a Shirley Temple (called a Mamma Mia on their menu) when literally any other restaurant charges the price of a soda (typically $3.00-$4.00) and includes free refills. Their other zero-proof mixed drinks are predominately juice mixed with soda (ginger ale, ginger beer, sprite), and club soda - all $7.00-$8.00. I'm willing to pay $8 for a zero-proof drink IF it has non-alcoholic liquor or spirits, but juice and soda does not equate to an $8 drink and inexcusable to charge such exorbitant prices. The bottom line is that it's worth it to come check out the food, but skip the drinks.

Yelp
No 28 is a quaint but well decorated restaurant with wonderful decorations that make you feel like you are not in Houston. The service was great and was very attentive. Now the food. The pesto gnocchi was phenomenal. The gnocchi was soft and precisely melts in your mouth and the pesto was well made and quite smooth on the tongue. the sun dried tomatoes were a great addition to the dish complimenting well. The cacio e pepe was good and they had table side cheese wheel. the aesthetic was there but personally for me, the pecorino was not my favorite. Its' strong flavor was a bit too overbearing for me but if you're a fan or want to live that fancy instagram influencer vibe it's a great opportunity to try! The cannoli is also very good and should try!

Yelp
We came here with a large group of people and the pizzas were delicious! We tried the Pepperoni and the Capricciosa Pizza which had mozzarella, tomato sauce, artichokes, mushrooms, green olives and ham. Service was great and the owner came over to tell us all about the restaurant. They have a brunch on the weekends that I definitely want to check out! You can sit inside or on the patio plus there is plenty of free parking. Needless to say, I will be back!
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service. Our waiter was Daniele, and he was amazing, very attentive, kind and orders were correct! The area was beautiful, we sat out side at the patio, had some music playing and a lovely atmosphere. We ordered the Caprese, Garlic focaccia bread basket, for a starters.. Gnocchi Al Pesto, two cacio e Pepe, and the Cannelloni con funghi for meals. And then for dessert we got cannolis, tiramisu, crème brûlée, and affogato al cafe. Finished with a cappuccino. Definitely recommend and definitely returning !!
google avatar

Wendy H.

Yelp
The restaurant has very limited seating, so a reservation is definitely needed. Otherwise you'll probably be stuck waiting at least 45 minutes. They do offer outdoor seating in the patio as well. However, regardless of where you sit it's pretty cramped up. That's the only real downside, along with the bad parking but that's just a given for this area. The one unpleasant thing about my experience is that my friend and i were sat outside for about 30 minutes eating when a waiter came up to my friend and asked her to if we wanted to move inside because they were trying to make space for a big party. We declined, but I feel like it's in bad taste to inconvenience customers that are already sat down eating for a party that hasn't even arrived yet. Beyond that, their pasta is fantastic. I had the bolognese and it was delicious. My friend really enjoyed her pasta dish as well. The bread basket was well bread, it was solid. My friend enjoyed her moscato and my aperol spritz was good too. I first tried Numero28 in Austin and absolutely fell in love. This location is definitely comparable and worth a try!

Yelp
Alright Diego, I don't really care about the reservation system, the lack of a dress code, or even your so called diverse staff. What I do care about is food tasting great-- and I assure you there was nothing remotely tasty about the noodles that were put before me. Perhaps in Verona they do things differently from the rest of the planet. I have actually been to Rome and had amazing Cacio e Pepe, and have even watched chef's prepare this. In reality, it is very seldom plopped down in an old pecorino rind. Most of the places where I've seen it made put the shaved pecorino in with the hot pasta along with a small amount of the the water the noodles were cooked in. I suspect that what you were shooting for with your tasteless recipe was pasta alla ruota. The best versions of the latter take a large cheese wheel, light the cheese on fire, scrape the softened cheese, then twist the noodles on that to coat them in the resulting sauce. Sometimes, they go a step farther and torch the inside of the wheel to flambé the pasta and cheese. After we left your place, my wife and I went down to the Grotto and ordered their version of Cacio e Pepe, which was much better. I suggest you pay them a visit and perhaps see if the chef will let you in on his secrets. Let me know if you do and perhaps I will give No28 another try.

Yelp
This is a little hidden gem at heart of the highland village! My sister and I came across this lovely restaurant during busy holiday shopping & have been back many times since both together & w guests! The space is small but features beautiful indoor and outdoor seating options. Staff are welcoming & service is fast! The food is above & beyond expectations! We always order the Olive marinade, it's a mix of different variety of olives which range from light flavors to strong. We also always order a Cascio Peppe they prepare it table side in a Pecorino cheese wheel, and it is divine! We often add chicken to it. We have tried their pizza it was delicious and the oven baked Pollo panini is light yet such a beautiful mix of flavors. For a perfect finish go for the Tiramisu, also prepared table side, it is a feast for your eyes and tastebuds! I pair mine w a cappuccino bc you can never have too much good caffeine! I look forward to visiting them for Italian brunch soon!

Yelp
Pizza was really good and ambiance was really cute and cozy! Only reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because the N28 was sooo bad. I like strong drinks but good God this was so strong it was undrinkable. The cosmo, on the other hand, was really good! Also 3 out of 5 stars because the service wasn't very good. Server wasn't very attentive and seemed like he wasn't comfortable serving my girlfriend and I (not making any assumptions that was just our observation). I would still try this place again because they had some good option and a nice happy hour!
google avatar

Corianne O.

Yelp
We go here all the time. Houston's not known for it's good Italian but this restaurant has me questioning that. Anytime I crave good Italian, this is my spot we go to. Especially their pesto gnocchi. It's so creamy, light, squidgy and everything you should order. But literally everything on the menu is good. The servers are all very sweet and will help you discover the right entree for you. Good wine selection as well. I do like the outdoor seating best. It's well shaded and has the best vibes. So a good spring/fall date.

Emma F.

Yelp
We went for lunch on a weekend and got a wonderful sangria that was on their brunch menu with a discounted price. The caprese didn't stick out to me as much but it did have a beautiful presentation. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her chicken parmesan, and I loved their ribbon pasta with meat sauce. The sauce they used was overall the best part. The server was attentive and recommended great things. They also had a lovely outdoor area, although I do wish the potted flowers were real. Overall, we definitely enjoyed our time and the food!
google avatar

Hollie K.

Yelp
Went here for a boozy lunch. The portions were large and they even brought an ice bucket for the white wine. Beware as parking may be a challenge depending on when you visit- shared parking in a very busy, under-parked, shopping center.
google avatar

Evelyn L.

Yelp
Let me start off by complimenting the staff because they were kind enough to fit us after arriving 25 minutes after our reservation time. I saw this place on TikTok and I was excited to try this place out. For starters, the place is super small so I recommend making a reservation on the weekends. Also, Parking in this shopping area is limited! We got calamari and bruschetta as an appetizer. Both were good but very small. Our table ordered two pizzas and two pastas. I thought the taste of the pastas were ALRIGHT (nothing special) however the pizzas were delicious. I'd gladly come back for the n.28 pizza. Also, the tiramisu martini was to die for. Loved it! I'd give the whole experience a 3.5/5 only because the pastas.

Emily J.

Yelp
This is one of the best little Italian spots in Houston! My husband and I have been twice now and both times had a great experience. Attentive service, adorable ambiance, and the food was amazing! We split an arugula salad, the Numero 28 pizza, and the caccio y pepe. Everything was DELICIOUS and we will most certainly be back again soon. They even gave us two mini cannolis on the house and we couldn't stop eating them. Great for date night, girl's night, or happy hour, you have to give them a try!
google avatar

Maria C.

Yelp

Brook M.

Yelp
Great pizza. My favorite is Alla Jimmy Add mushrooms, onions & ham. Extra crispy! Great value. Pizza ready quickly for pickup.

Caitlin H.

Yelp
This place is delicious and very aesthetic for a girls night dinner. The waiter is super nice and our food came super quickly!

Yelp
Hidden gem that I didn't expect. The food was great but it's a cozy spot behind crate and barrel. Perfect place for a first date or small group.

Yelp
I've been wanting to this place since it popped up on my social media feed. Walked around noon and the place was pretty empty. Really nice decor though, colors are inviting. They have some tables for outside dining with fans and heater. I had to try their basil lemonade punch, it was good and refreshing. We ordered Arancina Vegetariana and it was ok, will not recommend. I was excited to try their Cacio E Pepe, but fairly disappointed as well. The pecorino makes it really really salty which was difficult for me to enjoy. The only reason why they're getting 3 stars is because we ordered one of their specials, Ravioli with truffle shavings. It was probably the best ravioli I've had. The pasta cooked perfectly, the sauce and truffle not too overpowering. Chef's kiss! Will probably come back to try more of their items especially dessert.

Yelp
IG brought us last night. This place is unassuming and parking was tough. After a few spins around the shopping center, I entered thru the patio- which was cute and had an industrial size fan in a feeble attempt to cool. As you know, the houston heat bested it, so we chose to sit inside. The space was cramped but the many servers and busers did their best to maneuver. Service was young and friendly :) Veg Arancini to start- it was a single trapezoid vs the small balls I was expecting. It was yum enough. I got a Paloma spritz and didn't enjoy it. So'kay tho, my espresso martini (first one I've ever had!) for dessert made up for it. Side salad was forgettable. Cacio e Pepe was pretty good, honestly not the best I've had but the presentation was special. I added protein, which was 4 shrimp for 5 dollars. They were smol. Two word review: espresso martini.

Yelp
Totally enjoyed our meal here. Tucked away behind Crate and Barrel, this is far more than a pizzeria. The dining room is small and cozy, comfortable and casual. There's outdoor space for those who prefer the great outdoors as well. The menu features 12 inch pizzas, homemade pastas and entrees featuring Italian specialties. Our table had the raviolis with spinach and cheese, the cannelloni stuffed with veal and we all enjoyed the tiramisu. The tiramisu is a must have. There's a table side production that alone makes it worth your while but the dessert itself is equally spectacular. We magically made three orders completely disappear. Service is good too with our server bringing food quickly and efficiently. Great find.

Yelp
Numero 28 in Highland Village was a great birthday night spot for one of our friends. We had a reservation for 8 people at 7:30pm on a Thurs night. The manager was very flexible with us because 1 person couldn't make it at the last minute, and most of us showed up at 7:40pm as we were coming off of work at the hospital. Graciously enough, they had no problem with accommodating us, and that alone is worth the 5 star review for their flexibility. The restaurant is small, tucked away behind crate and barrel. But there's a nice outdoor patio area and the inside has a full bar. The tables are a little close together, but it was cozy without being too loud. I forget our server's name, but he was attentive without disrupting the lively conversation. As far as food goes, we tried their tagliere della casa, cannelloni con funghi, porchetta, spinach and ricotta ravioli, gnocchi al pesto, Numero 28 pizza w/ gluten free crust, and last but not least, their famous cacio e pepe. All of the food was really good and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The cacio e pepe is served tableside and tossed in a whole cheese wheel right before they put it on your plate. It is super rich, creamy, cheesy, and everything you'd want in a comforting pasta. Overall our group seemed to have a great time together, drinks were flowing, laughs were constant, and our bellies were full. They even brought over 2 birthday cannolis with a candle so we could sing happy birthday. We'd come back again for sure next time we're in the Highland Village area, cheers!

Madeleine ..

Yelp
Best authentic Italian in Houston. We have been here plenty of times after shopping in the area, and typically enjoy the patio. Tonight we came during peak dinner hours, in the rain, with no reservation & they kindly figured out a way to squeeze us in. Cannot speak highly enough about the atmosphere, food or service. Personally, I the trio brushetta and cannolini con fughi -- I order it every time we come!

Yelp
Wow! This was hands down the best pasta I've ever had. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was great so they also have that going for them. I went with 3 other people and we ordered the following: Penne Alla Boscaiola, Pollo Alla Parmigiana, Pappardelle Alla Bolognese, and the Lasagna Bolognese. I was able to try them all and all were equally delicious. This place is definitely worth the $$$ and to be honest it wasn't that expensive because the quality of the food is A+++ *Disclaimer* My frame of reference with Italian food is very limited/basic (I've only really had Olive Garden and Buca di Peppo and Zesta Cucina (in my hometown - Yakima, WA). But believe me, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Came here during restaurant week for my friends birthday. Had a delicious 3 courses. It is a bit cramped if your have a large party but otherwise classic Italian.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. We tried the polpette, cannelloni con funghi and the bucatini all'amatriciana, everything was delicious. Cant wait to come back and try other food from the menu.

Yelp
It's unfortunate when you instantly think "I could've done better than this place," because the food was overpriced and flavor-less. Maggiano's lasagna is more fulfilling and tasty, and Olive Garden's meat sauce was more robust.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for the first time and we absolutely loved it! The food and the ambience was perfect for a little date night. This place definitely has charm! Nico was a great server.

Yelp
Called "Numero28" on Google maps FYI. This place is a treat! Tuesday is 1/2 off bottles of wine and as it gets into dinner time, the place gets packed. We did an early dinner with a toddler to celebrate a birthday. We got the Cacio y Pepe and the Pesto Gnocci, both were a 10/10. The Cacio was so fun to get in a wheel! It's a top tier Cacio y Pepe in the city! We also got the cannolis , which are piped fresh and the tiramisu which they poured cream and shook chocolate over table side. The tiramisu is a must-have, it was incredible! Pretty good value for the cost, would recommend an appetizer and two entrees for average eaters. Well come back to try the pizza !

Yelp
Reheated food, no tasty at all Service was bad and they were not polite, slightly rude!! Ambiance outside was ok, better than the small space inside. Can do way better. Only positive note was the tiramisu.

Yelp
Came here because I was curious about the pasta on cheese wheel - Cacio e Pepe It turned out it was OK. The pasta is a bit more " crunchy" then I had before at other place but overall not bad. The polpette was better and I like how the bread is. Strongly recommended that to try. The Capricciosa pizza was awful to me. The artichoke was too watery that it make the pizza crust smooshy. I can even squeeze the artichoke and a lot of juices came off. Maybe the chef should let his cook squeeze the juices before adding to the pizza. The tiramisu came out as a surprise. That one was the best of all the items we ordered. Strongly recommended The service was very good. Staffs were always close by and hunger to assist you.

Yelp
NO28- I really had high hopes for this new Italian spot. Pro tip: they will take reservations by phone. However, when we arrived on Friday night at 8pm- we did wait about 20 minutes at the bar for our table. No big deal, happy to grab a drink. Their claim to fame is of course the pasta in the cheese wheel- we were deeply disappointed to find out they had RUN OUT by the time we were seated. They attempted to make it with store bought spaghetti rather than homemade but it ended up being a flavorless blob of over cooked pasta. I don't feel like that was a fair representation of the dish, but it definitely wasn't something I would order again. The prosciutto pizza and the big arracinhi were huge hits with us. The Caesar salad was fine but I've had much better. The bucatini with pork belly had good pasta but we didn't love the pork belly- would've rather had a meatball. Loved the little cannoli at the end. And the wine was good. Our server really tried to make us happy and knew we were going to be sad about the pasta- the service was great. Overall- fine for the evening but won't be added to my list of "good Italian spots in Houston"- not that the list is very long anyway.

Yelp
Service was quick, but not a smile to be seen on most faces. We booked a table for a birthday, and even though they initially asked if we were celebrating anything (and we told them it was a birthday) another waiter was confused when we asked if they give anything seeing as they were the ones who asked in the first place. Most of the dishes were great. The 2 pizzas were fantastic along with the tiramisu martini. The bolognese pasta was a bit chewy, but the flavor was good. The Cacio E Pepe- presentation is great, taste was ok to me. Half of the group i went with liked it more though. The restaurant itself is small and I'm glad we didn't have to wait. Will I be going back soon? If invited by friend/family sure, but this isn't on my list to go back to. Nonetheless I would recommend to a friend to go for certain drinks/food

Yelp
Cute little Italian restaurant! It was much smaller than expected so I wouldn't really recommend it for groups, however they were able to make room for 2 small parties inside. Service was speedy. Food arrived really fast! Food was presented well! Caprese was fresh and delish! Gnocchi Pesto was flavorful, however I couldn't get past the texture. After a few bites I just couldn't keep going, it was like mush. First time trying gnocchi so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be textured that way. Cacio E Pepe was good as well.

Yelp
My fiancé and I stumbled upon this cute little place on accident while shopping in Highland Village. I just got back from Italy last month, and this food makes it feel like I'm back there. It's now one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Houston. Love this place! Service is wonderful - they take care of their customers. The food is great. My favorites are the Pappardelle Alla Bolognese and Focaccia bread.

Yelp
It doesn't get any better than this. Gem in Highland Village serving an Italian Brunch, cocktails, pizza... okay. Let's start there. I had the Truffle & Egg Pizza and it was TO DIE FOR. I didn't quite know what to expect, but they break the egg on your pizza, tableside and the truffle cream and fresh basil... OMG. Order this! It's so good. The Cacio E Pepe was a show-stopper, with that pecorino cheese wheel! The pasta is so fresh, made in house. Don't for get to leave room for the Tiramisu. It's another item served tableside for your pure enjoyment. You will love it. The service here was so attentive and friendly. The vibe is classy but not snobby, still fairly casual but not too bougie. Plenty of parking.
