My wife and I stopped here for breakfast after reading some solid reviews online, especially about the chilaquiles. I'll start with the positives: the parking was convenient, and the porch atmosphere was pleasant. The staff seemed friendly, though the service left a bit to be desired.
My wife ordered the chilaquiles and a mimosa, while I went with the biscuits and gravy (over medium eggs) and a pancake on the side. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet our expectations. The chilaquiles were a disappointment for my wife--they lacked cheese, the tortilla chips were barely soaked in salsa, and the potatoes were quite dry. My biscuits and gravy were also underwhelming; the biscuit was soggy, and the gravy lacked flavor.
On top of that, my eggs were served over easy instead of over medium, and I wasn't able to flag down our server to have it corrected. The pancake was actually pretty decent, but it arrived a bit cold, and no warm syrup was offered--just packets on the table.
That said, perhaps we just had a one-off experience. The atmosphere was nice, and it's clear the place has its fans. Unfortunately, it didn't stand out as anything special for us, feeling more like a typical roadside diner rather than living up to the glowing reviews.
