"In her cosy restaurant, Johanna Nußbaumer recreates a little bit of Austria in the heart of Berlin. Ensconced in a side street off Kurfürstendamm (aka "Ku'damm") since 2008, it has become an institution and an essential fixture. "Authentic... Traditional... Austrian" is the motto here. Tafelspitz aspic on a shallot vinaigrette, Viennese beef goulash with bread dumplings, or apricot dumplings with sweet buttered breadcrumbs are some shining examples. The good selection of wines also originates in the chef's homeland. The restaurant is popular and doesn't have an excess of tables, so be sure to make a reservation! Tip: There are also excellent options to be had at Nussbaumer Heurigen on Breitenbachplatz in Zehlendorf." - Michelin Inspector

The tag line on the website says come hungry and they mean it. The food is genuine Austrian wholesome fare with great personable service to match. There was great advice on the wine choice too, Austrian obviously. The only regret was that the starter and main were so filling i couldn't manage the Kaiserschmarrn, especially as it's for 2. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal though and would recommend this restaurant especially when the weather turns colder and you need warming food.

Very traditional atmosphere and cooking - like my grandmother made - which was perfect for a Christmas dinner. I was very satisfied with each course. The wild deer was my favourite and is an excellent option! The service team was very kind too and helped me choose the best pairing for wine. Highest recommendation!

One of the best veal schnitzels I've had, and not just in Berlin! The prices you pay are equivalent to those near Mitte, but the quality is tip-top and the portion size is much larger! I basically got two schnitzels for the price of one and I ate every last bite because it was fantastic. I washed it down with a Märzen (vom Fass) and even though I was stuffed, I'm a sucker for dessert and couldn't help but order the Kaiserschmarrn for two (to be fair, I had a date). And oh mein Gott was it worth needing to lie down afterward. It was one of the fluffiest, creamiest, most delicious Kaiserschmarrns I've had, and that's saying something. And they make it fresh, so do note that you need to give the server a heads up as it takes around 20m to make. Speaking of, the service is suuuper nice. They're very down-to-earth, friendly, mid-southern German-dialect-speaking ladies, including the owner Frau Nußbaumer! The only nitpick I have is that we had to sit near the bar where the service rushed in and out, but that's quite frankly my fault because I didn't make a reservation, which you'll definitely need on a Friday night. Overall, very happy with this place and it's definitely going on the list to visit again. Bis dann!

One of the few remaining really excellent restaurants in the area from the moment you step in to the last bite of Kaiserschmarren!! Such a lovely service and welcoming team. Price of the three course menu totally reasonable for the outstanding quality and service

After unsuccessful attempts to get a table in the past, we finally got our chance to visit Nußbaumerin for dinner with my husband and father-in-law...And what a delightful experience it was! Great food, excellent service, and good vibes. It was so busy in there, but we never once felt we were ignored. Definitely coming again during our next visit to Germany ❤️

Delicious schnitzel, we loved it more the 1st time but the 2nd it seemed not as crispy. Overall, both times provided a friendly service and meal 👍🏻 cosy atmosphere

My brother and I had an excellent time visiting Nußbaumerin. The food, atmosphere, and service were very good, and it showed off the best of Austrian cooking. Johanna was superb and really accommodating with my nut allergy. Johanna and her team made us feel right at home. Thank you very much and we’ll be back when we’re next in Berlin!

Pretty pricey and you need a reservation. The audience are 50+ age. I’d say it’s great for people who have never had this food. The schnitzel is good and would say the best out of what we’ve ordered. As a berliner who’s been to Austria, I’d say this is a decent but not crazy good schnitzel. The goulash was too salty and also I missed the tenderness from being slowcooked. A bit chewy. Rinder Roulade was ok. Nothing special and very similar to the goulash. Better than the goulash though. Overall a pretty pricey experience that was not super worth the money. Service was good

Yelp
Amazing meal here this past weekend! We started with red sparkling wine while we looked through the menu. It was so refreshing. We ordered a variety of starters including the caramelized goat cheese which was so delicious. For mains we ordered a couple of the kaiserschnitzels and the seasonal venison with a mushroom cream sauce. Everything was so interesting and the flavours were great. It was a very hearty meal and perfect for the cold weather. To finish it off we split the apple strudel which was nice but I probably wouldn't order it again. The atmosphere in the place was lovely. I highly recommend!

Yelp
If only the meat had been good. Great taste, very nice place and prople, and location, good service, not cheap but classy restaurant but... The house special I ordered, was an almost unedible piece of chewy, hard meat under a very tasty sauce. What a surprise, everything seemed sooo perfect. I was in a rush, so I just ate what I could, unexpected disappointment. he lady who runs the place was very nice and offered a dessert, coffe, and made up for it. . It seems a dream place, I had bad luck

Yelp
Fantastic dinner. Be sure to make reservations, as they were fully booked on the Thursday evening that we dined. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was great. Also they have an English version of their menu.

Yelp
Maybe this is a good place. It was empty and they would not take a reservation or accept a walk in. After trying to schedule a later reservation and and suggesting we could eat at the bar we were told it's not possible. Good luck but make a reservation in advance.

Yelp
We had the Schnitzel and an Apfelstrudel. Both were great.
