Bun Cha Ta (Nguyen Huu Huan Street)

"Popular with tourists, Bun Cha Ta offers various bún chả and fried spring rolls. The classic bún chả features tender, smoky grilled pork, well-seasoned meat patties and smooth rice noodles with a balanced soup base. Among the crispy spring rolls, the seafood crab version delivers a consummate umami flavour, while the chicken is rich and meaty. They also offer rice noodles with fried tofu and tomato sauce and fried spring rolls for vegetarians." - Michelin Inspector

The best Bun Cha we’ve had in all of Hanói! The flavor was absolutely delicious, with perfectly grilled pork and fresh herbs, and the price–quality ratio is unbeatable. If you’re in Hanoi, this place is a must-try!

Very good food, location in the middle of the Old Quarter, full of life and action. The order was easy, because the person spoke English. I found the spring rolls a bit to greasy. The buncha - soup was delicious, the meat and fresh herbs great and aromatic. Worth experiencing!

We stumbled across this cute place while in Hanoi. We tried the bun cha combo specials which were really good and tasty. Daughter is a picky eater but loved the pork on a stick. Meal comes with pineapple and corn tea which was a plus. I enjoyed the pineapple tea the most. Definitely a must try while in Hanoi.

We had the pleasure of enjoying bun cha from this fantastic place during our two-day trip in Hanoi, and it was absolutely delicious! We loved it so much that we came back twice! The location is conveniently next to the road, and while it’s not too hot, we appreciated the high chairs and tables, which offer a more comfortable dining experience compared to traditional setups. Don’t miss out on the pineapple tea—it’s equally delightful! Highly recommend this spot for anyone visiting Hanoi!

If you're in the area, this restaurant is a must-try! Be sure to request a seat upstairs for a fantastic view of Hanoi's bustling traffic. It's a unique experience that adds to the ambiance while you enjoy your meal!

Walking in you place your order the are seated upstairs. It’s located on a corner in a classic French colonial stable building with old world Vietnam charm. The service is pretty fast and friendly. The star is of course the bun cha! I ordered their most popular combo with the pork, minced pork balls, egg roll and all the fresh sides that come along with it. The meats are so perfectly seasoned and the dipping broth is delicious. It’s one of the top two Bun Cha places in Hanoi in my humble opinion.

Excellent bun cha - probably the best I have had in Vietnam. It is served with more variety of meats than I've received anywhere else. Spring rolls are also top-notch. Friendly, prompt service. Upstairs has a nice view of the intersection.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ô Bún Chả located at 46 Nguyễn Hữu Huân in Hanoi's Old Quarter, and it was truly an exceptional culinary experience that I cannot recommend highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality. The restaurant offers both street-level seating where you can immerse yourself in Hanoi's vibrant atmosphere, as well as a more peaceful upstairs dining area. We chose to sit upstairs where we could observe the bustling streets below while enjoying our meal in comfort. The star of the show is undoubtedly their traditional bún chả - a Hanoi specialty featuring charcoal-grilled pork served with rice noodles and a flavorful dipping sauce. What sets Ô Bún Chả apart is their meticulous preparation and attention to detail. The pork is perfectly grilled on bamboo skewers, creating that authentic smoky flavor that is essential to great bún chả. They offer both meatball-style pork and thinly sliced marinated pork, both equally delicious and tender. The dipping sauce deserves special mention - slightly sweet with perfect balance, allowing you to customize the flavor with fresh garlic and chili peppers according to your preference. The accompanying herbs and fresh vegetables add wonderful texture and brightness to each bite. I particularly enjoyed their nem cua bể (crab spring rolls), which made for a perfect accompaniment to the bún chả. Our server, Tuan Anh, truly elevated our dining experience with his attentive service and genuine warmth. He took the time to explain the traditional way to enjoy bún chả and made excellent recommendations for complementary dishes. His friendly demeanor and knowledge of the menu made us feel like welcomed guests rather than tourists. Tuan Anh's passion for sharing authentic Vietnamese cuisine was evident, and he even took a moment to pose for a photo with us, creating a wonderful memory of our visit. The restaurant itself is immaculately clean with tasteful decor that honors traditional Vietnamese aesthetics while offering modern comfort. Watching the chefs prepare the skewers and grill the meat adds to the authentic experience - you can actually see your food being freshly prepared. Open from 6:00 AM to 9:30 PM daily, Ô Bún Chả is perfect for any meal, though I particularly recommend it for lunch when you can fuel up for an afternoon of exploring Hanoi's Old Quarter. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food provided, making it excellent value. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Hanoi's culinary heritage in a welcoming environment with exceptional service, Ô Bún Chả should be at the top of your list. I'm already planning my return visit on my next trip to Vietnam!
