Originally came here 11 years ago for a bday dinner wine class it was amazing!! The food then was special and so were the wines Fast forward 11 yrs later and although a good experience it did not live up to my expectations We ended up in a very large group on a weekend so maybe because it was not intimate it made it feel just okay The dinner this time around was average, nothing memorable and not exciting for Paris Wines of course are always good and the teacher was nice I do enjoy just having a glass of wine at their bar so if in the area it's a great place to stop by Prob will pass on the dinner next time

I highly recommend the wine and cheese pairing class!! I’m not an adventurous cheese person, but I really enjoyed these pairings! The Sommelier who lead our class was so informative, funny, and made it interesting! You will have the option at the end of class to buy the wines you taste. They will even ship them for you! Very clean restrooms on site too.

Me and my wife went here to do the wine tasting with champagne experience accompanied by charcuterie and cheese. Our sommelier had an excellent knowledge of her subject and she was very friendly and courteous. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves wine and that wants to expand on their current level of knowledge. The experience last for about 2 hours located in the wine cellar which makes it abit more special.

We had a great French wine and Champagne! In 90 minutes we learned techniques for analyzing and tasting wines. This was a great start to our trip, as it helped us better understand what we were drinking. There were both solo travelers and couples in our group.

We had a wonderful wine tasting experience here. Learned a lot about the different wine making regions of France. The Sommelier Willy was excellent and we tasted 6 wonderful wines, including one champagne. We also enjoyed a meat and cheese tray while tasting. (you must order this separately. We highly recommend this experience while you're in Paris! Stewy recommended. @postcardsfromstewy

We attended one of the wine tasting dinners here and could not recommend it more! It was a fantastic experience with amazing food and a very knowledgeable sommelier. The upstairs is a lovely wine bar with a tremendous amount of wines. It's a perfect location for a date or romantic evening with lots of candles made of wine glasses and cozy decor. The wine tasting dinner occurred in the basement, which was also cozy, private for up to 8-ish people, with stone walls and benches. Our sommelier Marcelle (not sure of spelling) spoke English flawlessly and used to actually make wines, so it was fascinating to hear his experiences and get his expertise on the various wines. The food was very delicious, with multiple courses. We started off with an amazing champagne: Monmarthe - Secret de famille - NV. The starter was celeriac and fresh goat cheese, which was very refreshing and tangy. Next we had a glass of the Domaine Thevenot-Le Brun Bourgogne - Clos du Vignon 2022, followed by the main course of Rib Eye Steak and Roasted Potatoes with a bordeaux: Diane de Belgrave - Haut-Medoc 2016. The rib eye was cooked to perfection and seasoned really deliciously with a gorgeous presentation. For dessert we had chocolate lava cake with tonka bean ice cream and a glass of Parce Freres Rivesaltes Roussillon. The tonka bean ice cream can be a bit of an acquired taste, but with the chocolate lava was really good and they balanced each other out well.

Amazing atmosphere. We went for cheese tasting and was lovely. 11 and 13 years old enjoyed. Can wait to go back for wine tasting

Did a wine and champagne tasting which was a wonderful experience. Learned a lot about French wines and champagnes. Sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and clearly explained the characteristics and background of each wine and champagne.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great list of wine and champagne. Worth the stop. Great service, friendly people.

Yelp
Our experience at O Chateau was limited to having wine by the glass at the main bar, which was ok. Just really nothing to write about. The positive: over 50 wines by the glass, which change every week, and 500 wines by the bottle. Tasting workshops and wine tours , which we saw huge groups walked in for those festivities For us, I would prefer to visit Septime wine cave which has a lot more character.

Yelp
It's been many years since our last visit to this wonderful wine bar and tasting room. We signed up for the "wines of France" tasting starting at 5 pm most evenings. Even though we've had the chance to taste wine and travel all over France, there's always more to learn. Over the years I've recommended this place to many friends visiting Paris as a great cultural activity so I wanted to see how it was holding up. I pleased to say it's just as pleasant as ever. You will reserve online in advance (tip: be sure to also order a cheese tray to accompany the wine-one per couple should suffice). You'll taste (hearty sized pours) at least 5 wines from the various regions of France and this varies depending on which person is leading the tasting. By the way the classes are in English but for some our native French speakers English with his accent made things a bit challenging. We tasted a 1er Cru champagne, white burgundy, Sancerre, Beaujolais, Bordeaux, and a dessert wine. For the more advanced drinker there are a variety of other classes, mostly on weekends with more top shelf wines. You can also just stop in to the wine bar to enjoy many fine selections by the glass and talk with the knowledgeable staff. A must for lovers of French wine.

Yelp
Fabulous! One of the best things I did in Paris was the back library wine paired course dinner. Not to be missed.

Yelp
Staff is rude and lacks appropriate skills, severe lack of wine knowledge, and poor communication.

Yelp
O'Chateau Yelp is not as widely used in Europe as it is in the US, however, their ratings seem get it right with the accuracy of their reviews. I find Yelp reviews representative of what you will receive from a restaurant. Such was the case with O'Chateau. It was highly rated as a recommended "wine bar in Paris", and the review were right on target. We went to O'Chateau for a pre-dinner wine tasting. The wine bar has a very nice setting. They have a large bar and indoor seating area on the ground floor. In the back area they have a large private room for special group tastings. They also have a cellar that also can seat much large groups. Most of the staff have their sommelier certifications or are working hard to pass those difficult exams. Clearly, the staff knows their wine. Pierre managed our selections wonderfully. We were very pleased with his recommended choices. The charcuterie board was wonderful. A great selection of French cheeses and Spanish hams. By the time we finished the multiple glasses of wine and the full charcuterie board, we skipped dinner. O'Chateau is highly recommended.

Yelp
Wow; we visited this wine bar off the recommendation of our good friend and it did not disappoint. We sat at the bar and our waitress was so helpful in serving us multiple selections of different wines to taste based on our preferences. The cheese plate she brought us had some of our favorite cheeses from the trip and she took care to explain where each cheese was from and which wine she recommended to pair with our tastes of wine. We came back a second time on our last trip at opening and there were a few people working from the bar; what a dream. You can tell it's a favorite of locals and tourists alike, and despite our efforts to speak French everyone was kind enough to speak English as they explained their menu. Merci!

Yelp
If you have the joy of being sat with Julie, you will have nothing but the most amazing experience. From the moment that we sat down she made a point to spend time with us to understand what we were looking for, and making extreamly delicious recommendation which for us was a vintage champagne that was a brut blanc d blanc. We had just popped in with no intention of spending more than a glass of wine, but with Julia's recommendation we stayed for a bottle and two glasses. It was at the second glass that we hit a major impasse. Julia was busy with another customers giving them a detailed description of their tasting, on par with what we had experienced, when one of her co-workers (a shorter gentleman with a beard) approached. We told him what we had been drinking and asked for a recommendation of what we might continue with, maybe something more creamy we offered. He looked at us and responded "no." We then asked if he had a recommendation of what we could continue with off the by the glass menu he responded "no" and walked away. We were astonished. After that we quickly paid our bill and left as Julia was still occupied. Given our spend was 200 euro we were not expecting such a rude ending. Unless we can only spend time with Julia we will not be revisiting. A sad tale to something that started off so promising, but with so many places to enjoy champagne we will find other establishments.

Yelp
We had an excellent time at the wine and cheese lunch! Our Sommelier was so knowledgeable and fun. She taught us in an easy to understand, bright bubbly way. We tried 5 delicious wines paired with 5 scrumptious cheeses. It was such a bonus to have an educated sommelier leading us through and encouraging questions and comments. Everyone in our group was so nice and shared easily. This is a great entry into the world of French wine! Several people in our group, my sister included, have been here multiple times bc it's different each time And a reliable enjoyable time!

Yelp
We did a wine tasting at this bar, and it was such a fun time! We didn't get a chance to go to any actual wine regions / wineries this trip (but plan to next time), so this was a great experience instead. The staff were super friendly and helpful. We really loved the experience and would suggest anyone to try it, especially if you are either new to wine or to French wine

Yelp
One the best experiences in Paris. We missed the reservations for the wine tastings but still decided to go to the bar and order a la carte. The wines were incredible and definitely had pronounced flavor profiles. I loved how the staff was ready to offer suggestions and also provided details on the different wines we tried. I would definitely come back for one of their wine tastings.

Yelp
Came here with some friends for a wine tasting with three course meal. The bar was very intimate and quaint with a lovely atmosphere. The sommelier was so knowledgeable with the wines and gave us a full history and explanation of each one that we tasted. The champagne that we had as a starter was the most delicious champagne I've ever had in my life. We had a charcuterie board which was absolutely amazing. But we were told that that was delivered to our table in error. So I think the mail may have differed from what others had reviewed and showed pictures of. because of the charcuterie board we did not get the traditional starter and went right into the main course which were steaks and beef tartare. however there were no vegetables or potatoes served with it just the meat by itself. Dessert was amazing with a poached pear and a chocolate cake. We had a good experience although our meals did not look anything like the pictures posted by other reviewers. I wish we would have gotten a full meal but we did not have the same meal as everyone else I guess. Of course the wines were absolutely amazing as expected in France. The only downside to this evening was that we were there for about four hours. The staff was very slow to check on us between courses and bring us to the next course. Other than that we had a lovely evening and everything was delicious especially th

Yelp
What a nice wine bar! We arrived for our French Wine Tasting class with Sommelier booked through Get your Guide. We sat at the bar for a bit and were then escorted to the cellar for our class. We had Charlotte during our wine tasting class and she was wonderful! We tasted wine from each of the major regions of France and followed along with the visuals. She also gave us practical information on tasting techniques and storing our wine at home etc. I did not realize that we could do a day trip to Champagne from Paris, very helpful info for our next trip to France! 1 star because the cellar room was uncomfortably packed, the chairs hardly fit around the table. I understand that COVID 19 may be in our rear view mirror but I also do not need to sit in the lap of my neighbor.

Yelp
We stopped here as part of a Viator wine and cheese lunch tasting. It was a great experience. It's about 2 hours long in the wine cellar. We had a sommelier and tasted 5 wines and cheeses. She went over everything and it was very informative and fun. Everything was delicious!

Yelp
Food was good but not outstanding. Service was above average for Paris but not great by any other standard. Atmosphere was vibrant. There are better places to eat in the city though.

Yelp
We made reservations for the Champagne Tour, a bit of a splurge ($600) for the two of us (which is the reason I am posting a relatively lengthy review) but the included components (sommolier guide, all day transport between vineyards, tastings, and lunch) added up to a decent value. Departure from O Chateau was supposed to be 7:45am so we arrived at 7:30, though though the driver was late and we didn't actually leave until 8:20. There were 7 in our group; we were each offered a very good coffee, the breakfast pastries (fresh croissants) were in a bakery bag, and we ate them in the van as we traveled out of Paris. Our tour guide was super friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and somewhat irreverent. We visited a couple of small family producers and one large producer (Taittinger). We also spent an hour parked so we would have the opportunity to walk a bit around Reims cathedral - all of us on the tour felt this stop used up valuable time, considering the focus and cost of our tour. We enjoyed the 60 minute cave tour at Taittinger, *quite* fascinating and informative and generous with the Taittinger guide's time answering questions. Be sure to bring a layer because it's coooold down there. The two smaller family champagne producers were naturally more intimate and both were personable and generous with their pours. Lunch was spectacular in taste and setting, including a wine pairing (taste) with each item. Everyone in our group was friendly and we freely conversed throughout the day. The driver stopped at the Mumm gate, but we did not visit the tasting room, our guide suggested we take pictures from this spot, not sure what that was about. The weather was perfect, sunny and warm but not too hot. The transportation was very comfortable, a large air-conditioned van. Our group shared two bottles of champagne (which we purchased along the way - i.e., was not provided to us by O Chateau) on the 2 hour drive back. Not sure if that was technically okay to do but it was fun and the driver encouraged us :) Our itinerary called for a final glass of wine to complete the day upon return to O Chateau though the guide never mentioned it when we got there, and after we all tipped him, he left immediately. Overall, we had a very good experience. It was noteworthy that the day was just beautiful and that the wine and food were delicious. The guide was friendly and informative. For the price also please note we started nearly an hour late, the conclusion was rather abrupt, and of course the tip for the guide was an additional expense. If your time in Paris is limited, please also note you will spend nearly four hours in the van getting to and from the Champagne region.

Yelp
A must visit if you're visiting and would like a wine tasting. My friend and I went through many different reviews of places and I'm so glad we decided on Ô Chateau. We booked through a website for a wine tasting in the later afternoon/evening. Our sommelier was incredible. He was a sweet and very knowledgeable about the history of all the different wines we were tasting. They walk you through all the different areas of France known for their wines. I loved how everyone in the room was so open to chatting and joking, it was very much a comfortable and fun environment. My friend and I ordered a charcuterie board along with our tasting to help soak up some of the fun we were having Highly recommend coming here, a lot of the people here speak English so if you're nervous--don't be!!

Yelp
This was a great experience. This was my second time going to their wine tasting. Very informative! I did not expect the food to be so good so that was a bonus.

Yelp
My husband, sister and I came here for a wine and cheese tasting on a Wednesday afternoon. It started at noon and ended around 2pm. The place is very cozy, great wine selection and nice staff. We got to learn how to pair wines and cheeses and our sommelier was so knowledgeable. They also had bread and charcuterie as s part of the tasting. I also appreciated they provided pamphlet so that we wouldn't forget all we learned. The regular opening hours is 4pm so we didn't get to experience that but the food tasting was so good. I only wished we did this earlier!!

Yelp
We came for a wine tasting and were underwhelmed by the experience. The wines were young and "bright." (I see from other reviews that perhaps we should have chosen a more expensive option.) I expected to learn more about reading a French wine bottle to use at home. The facility is clean and new, but lacked the charm that we were looking for in Paris.

Yelp
My husband and I spent time in Paris this past November and felt like having an impromptu wine night. Yelp lead us here and it was, hands down, one of the best evenings we spent in Paris! We each got a flight of four wines and shared a charcuterie board. From the moment we sat at the perfect window table to our impeccable service, ever nibble and sip of wine was divine. Atmosphere was everything and more...gorgeous low lighting and epic music (a mashup of jazz and hip hop) couldn't have been more perfect for our date night. I miss Paris and Ô Chateau! Please don't let my tardy review dissuade you from going...it is absolutely fantastic!

Yelp
Cool wine bar in the 2nd district.... not far from the Louvre. They have a wine bar that you can sit at or you can book a tasting and enjoy a very educational and intimate experience of tasting some very special wines. (NOTE: The tasting was in English and French. And it seemed like everyone here spoke English very well!) Our guide was passionate about French wines, and it was fun to hear about his experiences of working in the industry and what he likes. This helps to relate to the wine and create your own opinions. You have the option to add cheese, charcuterie or both during your tasting. We opted for the mix ... and then mostly considered this tasting dinner. LOL! So... we booked an off the beaten track wine tasting. We tasted 1 sparkling, 2 whites and 3 reds. (No run of the mill wines here.... All were small production... Boutique wines as I call them.) All were very good..... provided you have an open palate and are open to trying new wines (which I love). We ended up buying a couple bottles to bring home with us. (Hope they survive the trip.) After the tasting (which was 2 hours), we were so inspired by our guide that we decided to try a few more. They have quite a few to try! It was hard to narrow it down, so our guide gave us some additional suggestions. We enjoyed 3oz pours of 4 other reds.... 2 Languedoc, 1 Rhône and 1 Bordeaux. All were excellent! We also chose to enjoy the mushroom side dish because it was light and earthy which we thought would be nice. Turns out it was PERFECT with the wines we had selected. The mushrooms were big and meaty! And perfectly prepared. :) They also have a small menu of other small plates and entrées. Everything looked and smelled good, so if you like wine and want to do something different.... find O Chateau (recommend making a rez) and enjoy a lovely, leisurely evening over some really fun wines that you probably won't find anywhere else.

Yelp
When in Paris a couple of months ago, my friends and I purchased the Paris Pass. The Paris Pass has many great benefits but we all agreed the wine tasting at O'Chateau was an absolute favorite of ours. When trying to find the shop, we walked right past it twice so keep your eyes peeled! It's a tiny winery/cafe with a board outside listing a few specials. The main bar/eating area is super cute and we were able to take some very cute pictures before the wine tasting started. You must make reservations for their wine tasting prior! Their wine tasting is at 3pm each day and lasts a little more than an hour. When it's time for the tasting to begin, you're taken downstairs into their cellar and everyone sits at a long table made for about 20. Our instructor was in his early 20s but was very descriptive as he walked us through our three tastes of wine. The servings were generous and overall was a fascinating wine tasting as we learned a lot about the various wine regions in France. We opted to add a cheese plate (extra fee) to our wine tasting but it was so worth it! Everything on the plate was delicious and we killed it! My friends and I had so much fun in this wine tasting and highly recommend it to all. If you get the Paris Pass, be sure not to miss this special bonus included in your PP.

Yelp
I found myself wondering around the rue's in Paris looking for a nice establishment to get my fancy wine drank on. So, I whipped out the old iPhone, opened up yelp, and sure enough "O Chateau" popped up. After reading some of the reviews and realizing I was only a mere 1/4 mile away, I hit the pavement in search of this wine bar. When I got in, the place was packed with Parisians. I found a convenient spot at the bar and looked over the menu. They had several varieties with a map of the wine regions in France showing where each variety was grown and crafted. You had aux choix of pour, where of course a heavier pour was more $$. The sommelier, who I believe to have been the proprietor or at least a relative of the proprietor of O Chateau, was extremely knowledgeable and fully fluent in English, which of course helped me as the night went on... ;) The wine pouring apparatus used at O Chateau was very interesting. It's built into the wall, with a handle for each wine and pumped out, like a keg. The food looked great, but I had already eaten. I went back the following night for dinner, but the place was twice as packed and there was a wait to be seated. It's popular, for sure. If you go to Paris, you should go here for good wine. It's off the beaten path a bit, but very much worth the effort to find it.

Yelp
I went here for the wine tasting tour they have and it was amazing! I knew it was going to be good when we were introducing ourselves and several of the people said they had done this before and wanted to come back. Our sommalier Felicity explained French wine very well in her cute British accent. We tried 5 wines from 5 different regions and had the appropriate cheese pairing. I left full, happy, and somewhat knowledgeable about French wine. I liked that they gave you a take home map with a place to write notes about your wine. If I were to be in Paris again I would totally do this again!

Yelp
Even though O Chateau was booked solid, they made space for my sister-in-law and I and we had a great evening. Estefania was an excellent sommelier and made wonderful recommendations. I would have ordered the wrong wine to accompany my salad, but she helped me out. She also helped us to know the correct order to taste various wines so that we ended with the boldest wine. Speaking of my salad, it was made with quinoa, butternut squash, and a vinaigrette dressing and it was delicious. At 5 Euros, the price was right too. The menu has several different size options for wine. I decided to go with the 6cl pours so that I could try multiple wines. I enjoyed each of the wines I tasted. I don't think you can go wrong here. We sat at the bar, but there were also tables of various sizes. There were a couple of people who were alone, a few couples sharing a romantic evening, and a couple of larger groups. This wine bar has something for everyone. If you are in the neighborhood (or even if you are far away), you should go check it out.

Yelp
My wife went for Valentine's Day. They had a special menu with wine paring that was delicious and we had a marvelous time. The shop: modern and Classic at the same time. Lots of dark wood and a cellar tasting room that most US wine bars would sale their souls for. The staff: the place is in a part of paris that one finds a LOT of tourists, even in winter. The staff all speak Great English and at least one of the bar tenders/servers (he is from Alsace) speaks German. The service: quick, very curious, and very knowledgeable. Ask about the wine and you will get details galore. The food: excellent. Cook perfectly and our lamb chops were dusted with a lavender and or camomile spice. The scallop starter was something to write home to mom about. The wine: fairly priced, which is rare for this section of Paris and not your run of the mill. We were served a young northern Rhone Syrah that was surprising. I wholly recommend the place for either a glad or two of wine, a full on tasting, or for a nice meal.

Yelp
The hype is C'est Vrai!! This place is awesome. Perfectly chic n chill. Amazing wine varieties. We indulged in bubbles as pre-dinner stop and had a wonderful time seated at the bar on a Friday evening. Bartender are superb. Merci!

Yelp
What an amazing experience! My wife discovered this spot on Yelp and booked us reservations for their wine tasting event. The event itself was for their Tour de France tasting and lasted two hours. Upon arrival we were given the option to add a charcuterie platter for the tasting, which I definitely recommend! As for the tasting itself, the room downstairs was beautiful and felt very unique. Our sommelier was Gerald who was very funny and kept us entertained and informed the entire time. The wines they offered came with a heavy pour and a great deal of background from Gerald. After the event we purchased a map of the wines and a couple small items to bring back state side. If you have the time, definitely book a tasting for you and your significant other!

Yelp
I went here for a wine and cheese tasting. I am not necessarily a huge fan of wine, but what we tried here was really good. I liked how they told you what foods to pair with which wines. It was also cool to learn about all of the different areas of France where they produce wine and how the wine culture in France is different than other areas that I have been to (Italy, Spain, Portugal). The woman that gave the tasting was very knowledgeable and friendly, and she made me feel included even though I was there alone. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We decided to stop by to sign up for the wine tasting: however it was sold out. The manager or owner not sure explained that there wasnt anything available until the next day but we were leaving the following day. But if we wanted we could sit down and drink some wine. So we left but then decided to come back and try some wine and eventually some cheese. Waiter was helpful in Picking up the wine and doing a brief explanation of each. I guess you would be better off booking an actual wine tasting rather than just having wine there. Cheese were excellent!!!

Yelp
Mona S. Viator Customer Relations responded to the complaint filed with Better Business Bureau, "The wineries that are visited on this tour change dependent upon availability of the vineyards on the travel date of travel. There is no mention or guarantee that any specific winery will be visited." Sorry Mona, the three wineries listed on the tour where very specific (Mercier, Champagne Taittinger, and Champagne Pommery) and the guide Victor told us the reason we where not touring two out of the three wineries was because "they are too far." There was never any intention to go to Epernay...it had nothing to do with availability. Once again, I can not recommend nor will I ever use Viator or O Chateau for a tour.

Yelp
I was traveling solo in Paris for a few days, and booked a wine tasting at Ô Chateau for my first day. Little did I know I wouldn't sleep on my red eye, and instead of browsing the Louvre and popping over here in good time, I'd be waking with a start 20 minutes before my reservation, hauling butt across town. I called ahead to let them know I'd be a little late and they were very kind. ...note to self, don't make any commitments on your first day of travel. You enter the bar and then walk down the stairs to the wine cellar. I was the only solo person there, everyone else seemed to be young couples. At least two couples were on their honeymoon! So this seems to be a great place for date night, but even then, everyone was so friendly, I didn't feel too awkward being by myself. The wine is delicious and high quality, and everything you're tasting is very affordable if you choose to purchase a bottle. I was very grateful for the baskets of bread on the table, since I had slept all day and hadn't eaten. It was nice to have a buffer! I found myself taking so many notes. It was like the most interesting, delicious class ever! I learned so much about wines, the different wine regions in France, and how best to taste wine. Our teacher (I want to say her name is Claudia but it's been a couple of weeks, my brain is mush) was so smart and informative. She happily answered our questions and imparted so much useful knowledge. I ended up buying a bottle of champagne, which was perfect and so much more affordable than what I'm used to paying. I had such a fun time learning and tasting, I would happily go back if a friend was interested in the experience.

Yelp
One of our last days in Paris I decided that we must do a wine tasting with O Chateau and I was surprised to find that many of my friends who came before me had also enjoyed tasting with them. I figured we had no lunch plans so might as well join them for the wine and cheese lunch (although after speaking with them it really sounds that the way to go is dinner and wine! Our sommelier that day was Alain and he was fantastic. As you would expect any sommelier to be, he was knowledgeable and spoke at a level that we all understood. It was clear that in the room we had people of different levels of wine appreciation but he spoke to everyone in such a way that we all learned something. We started with champagne worked our way through the whites, reds then sweet wine. They had magnificent cheese pairings as well. Luckily we had a fun group which made the experience that much better. O Chateau is a beautiful space. We got to sit in their little dining area in the back of the building which was gorgeous. Wine surrounds you in this beautiful mahogany wood. I also decided to get their book as well "Into Wine" written by the founder of O Chateau which I thought was a great easy read for those who are wanting to learn more about how to appreciate wine. I finished it in a couple days and really enjoyed the new tidbits of information that I can now apply to future wine tastings. All in all, a fantastic experience. Our sommelier was excellent, the wines beautiful and just a great time with this company. If you're confused about where to go or what to do when it comes to wine, choose O Chateau. They will take care of you!

Yelp
Booked a 3 course meal and wine tasting dinner for two and it was divine!! Lionel was our sommelier, and although he had a thick French accent, he definitely did a good job explaining the wines! For the reserved tasting/meal, you go down the stairs in the main restaurant into the wine cellar. It's a really great experience getting to eat away from the crowds. We were lucky because there were only 5 people total! So, we got to drink as much wine as we wanted--much more than the advertised 4 glasses. Honestly, I think I had about 9--4 glasses of champagne, 3 white, 1 red, 1 dulce. I was definitely very drunk by the end of it and because it was a small group, it was really fun and we all talked together. The food was also great--bread was so fresh, the steak was pretty good, the caprese was delicious and dessert was interesting, but perfect at the end of the meal. There was no pressure to buy any of the wines, although we definitely contemplated it because they were so good. The white was the best I've ever had, the red (usually I hate red) was so drinkable, and dulce was a little too sweet for me, but the other people liked it, and the champagne was perfect. I highly recommend booking the tasting and dinner!

Yelp
Without a doubt, the best wine bar in Paris. Excellent selection of wines, and if you are in the mood for tasting, you can choose volumes of 3cl and 12cl. Like the wine? You can buy the bottle. Very good ambiance, very nice crowd. The owner has written some excellent books, and the people behind the bar are very friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly, speak English. You don't have to be intimidated by wine when you visit, they will happily explain all you want to know. Go ahead and visit O Château! It's missing the 5th star, because the Bruschetta is no more on the menu. As a vegetarian, a bit disappointed as the other choices are not many.

Yelp
Great place if you are in the area and want a chilled out bar where you can get some good wine and good snacks. Wine ranges from 7-15€ a glass, naturally they also have it available by the bottle. The mixed cheese/meat plate (planche de charcuterie/fromage) are good quality and not too expensive. Clientele is mixed, tourist and local, older and younger. The marble bar is the best place to sit in my opinion, but they have high tables also. Nice relaxed atmosphere, where you can actually hear your companion talk! 4 stars only because of the price is quite high compared to some of my other favourite wine bars. I would recommend though :)

Yelp
Fantastic wine tasting event here with cheese and meats that we did it at lunchtime service. Guests were mostly English speaking tourists and the owner, Felicity, was super knowledgeable and answered everyone's questions. Cheeses and meats were also very good and I would highly recommend this experience for someone who wants to get a good overview of French wine. We had one champagne and 4 wines (1 white and 3 red). I only got a picture of 3 of the bottles and some of the cheeses.

Yelp
This is a review of O Chateau's "Le Petit Big Day" which is the Introduction to French Wine course along with the champagne cruise on the Seine. First: Introduction to French Wine, one hour They say they're right by the Louvre, but it was more of a walk than we had expected. Factor in at least 20 minutes between the two places. We arrived for the class and were ushered downstairs to the cellar. There was a beautiful large table in the middle of the room, and I took notes as if I were in school again. The stuff he said was fascinating. I've always loved wine but didn't know much about it, and this was a great course. He taught us what it meant when a wine was particularly shiny and when wine needs to aerate and how to tell if someone's just pretending to be a wine snob without actually knowing anything about wine. We learned about the different regions of wine-making in France and what years from which regions were good years. Fantastic, delicious, and educational. I would recommend this to everyone. Second: Champagne Cruise, one hour The directions told us to arrive at least 15 minutes early. We were there 20 minutes early and were just about the last to arrive. We were concerned that we were going to be stuck in this very stuffy room, but as soon as we got going, our guide threw open the big glass doors at the front of the room, and we had free reign of the bow. It was a beautiful trip and well worth the money spent. It seemed to be a MUCH better deal than what the tourists stuck in chairs at the back of the boat without champagne got. Tip: Discount for students or with the Paris Rick Steves' book. Book ahead online.

Yelp
My wife & I had a super experience tasting & learning about French Vins! Highly recommend this educational, fun wine tasting. Sommelier was attractive, professional, and entertaining! Great atmosphere, well worth the expense. Can actually find & purchase French wine now to my liking!

Yelp
I made a reservation for 3 people for their Introduction to French Wine Class and paid the fee through their website since I didn't have the Paris Pass (it's FREE with the Paris Pass). You can receive 10% off the booking fee by using the code in Rick Steve's Guidebook to Paris (it's in there, somewhere). I did not receive a confirmation e-mail and contacted them to confirm my reservation. They replied promptly & confirmed my details & gave my reservation #. We checked-in, gave the employee my name & reservation #, and we were brought downstairs into a beautiful, stunning 17th-century cellar which used to be King Louis XV's sommelier's personal cellar (this wasn't noted in the class, but I read this interesting tidbit online and it made the experience all the more "cool" in my book). As the room filled up, the employee who checked us in walked up to me and said that he made a big mistake and needed to see my pass. I told him I didn't have a Paris Pass and just paid the fee through the website. I showed him the confirmation e-mail & reservation # on my phone. The emailed link they provided only had attachments to different maps & food recommendations, no pass/voucher. He asked for help from the sommelier and they were trying to tell me that they had no record of me paying and that they've only dealt with people with the Paris Pass and didn't know how the online system works (say what?). Eventually the sommelier said that "he would take my word for it," but they both honestly made me feel as if I was lying and didn't pay. I stopped short of showing them my credit card transactions (it's there cleared, processed, PAID!). Perhaps the employees need to be trained more on such a situation as the one that checked us in seemed very unsure of himself? It didn't bother me that day & I was just glad to be able to enjoy the class. However, after some thought this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. In any case, the class itself was very informative regarding french wines. We learned a few new things from how to hold the glass to the 'legs' of the wine. We were offered 1 white and 2 reds. I enjoyed the first 2 and my husband finished the 3rd as it was dry for my taste. I'm not a fan of wine per se, but I will drink it every so often and couldn't pass up the opportunity for a wine tasting in Paris! My husband is a cook and I thought this would be a good experience for him and he enjoyed it a lot. This is a nice, affordable option for those looking to have a taste of great wines. The room was full of honeymooners like us from all around the world and that made it a bit more fun. My husband wanted to try a few more wines, but unfortunately they were closed that day (Sunday) and only opened for the class. Perhaps we'll just have to go back one day! I'd give it a 3.5* overall due to my experience, but yelp doesn't have that option & therefore I'm rounding down.

Yelp
Went on the champagne boat cruise through O Chateau last year and it was lovely! It was a little confusing to get to as it loaded on the Seine River next to the Eiffel Tower and there was a whole row of boats with the same thing going on. We got to try three different glasses of champagne, learn about them and then enjoy them on the deck of the boat. It was about an hour long tour and definitely a fun little side adventure when we went to see the Eiffel Tower.

Yelp
After a Friday evening at the Louvre my mom and I decided to wind down the night with some wine and I knew this place was close by so we ventured on over. Luckily even though it was a Friday night we were able to score a spot at the bar. The wine list is extensive and not knowing exactly what we wanted we decided to try a flight of red wines and a flight of white wines. After the bar tender had poured us our choices, he helpfully went through each wine with us and let us know what to expect. We had 3 white chardonnays from Burgundy and 3 reds from Laungdoc and all were fabulous. We didn't have any food, but the meat and cheese plates looked delightful and the couple next to us had the 3 course meal and they really enjoyed in. This is a great place and while I would recommend it, it should be noted that the majority of the people seemed to English, so if you're looking for someplace with a lot of French atmosphere, this may not be it.

Yelp
Wow. My sister and I stopped in with plans for a wine tasting before dinner. O'Chateau markets itself as a place where you can have a great french wine tasting without leaving Paris, in English. Absolute truth. We were made to feel welcome the moment we walked in the door. We arrived after 6pm on a Friday and the place was pretty quiet. We had our choice of seats. We chose to sit at the bar and each choose a wine flight. My selection was the 3 glass 12cl Champagne tasting (45€) and my sister's choice was the 6 glass 6cl tour of France tasting. Bulles, Blanc et Rouge (47€). The staff gave a great overview of each of our wines. It's certainly the best tasting experience I've had in a restaurant setting. The staff was incredible and did not rush us- we struck up a conversation with another American couple and decided to order a charcuterie plate to go with our wine. This ended up being our dinner and it was perfect. We had an herbed goat cheese and another soft cheese as well as fig preserves and two types of meat. Along with the French bread it was a perfect way to end our day. We certainly lingered, savoring every sip and bite. We were there over 2 hours. By the time we left the place was hoping. I had hoped to visit at least one more wine bar during my time in Paris, but my experience at O'Chateau left me completely satisfied. Go. Just go.
