Two ‘Top Chef’ Contestants Are Slinging Boozy DIY Meal Kits at Legacy Hall | Eater Dallas
"Run by veteran sushi chef Chin Liang inside Legacy Hall, I found the Hōru Sushi and Hibachi Ramen stalls offering Friday teriyaki chicken bento boxes with a California roll, miso soup, and shrimp tempura, complete with two sake bottles or a four-pack of Sapporo; he’s also slinging steak and grilled salmon bento boxes on Saturday and Sunday, respectively." - Tierney Plumb
The place is beautiful and set up nicely. The owner is nice too. I would not go back and would advise people with gluten allergies or sensitivity not to go. I said a million times that I'm allergic to wheat and they gave me a roll with wheat battered crab. After I brought it to their attention they argued for a short time before they changed out the sushi roll that was battered. I had to take allergy medicine and didn't feel heard or cared for about my allergy. If you have no allergies the food is good. Again, don't go if you have allergies. If I didn't catch their mistake and ate that whole roll unknowingly without taking my medicine I would have had terrible intestinal problems etc.

The people here are very friendly. Unfortunately the teriyaki chicken was not. I regretfully must say that the sauce reminded me of pancake syrup. The chicken was barely warm as well. While this is the only dish I had mayhap the other dishes may be better.

I like their Authentic Japanese Food with very good service, big portions, savory, and flavorful. They changed sushi bar to be kid's corner. Our kids had a good time. My wife and I could have our meals and drink peacefully.

The lunch special sushi bento box was excellent! Large fresh portions of fish left me happy and satisfied. My wife had the Kontasu Ramen and was also very happy. The broth was delicious and the port tender and tasty. The green tea was also excellent, the perfect temperature. The service was excellent. I look forward to my next meal here.

The lady who works there. I'm not sure if she's the owner freaked us out. She would just stare at us, and just kept looking at us the whole time We ate.
Very uncomfortable. The food was mediocre.
And really pricey

We went after the Christmas Lights Parade and they were busy, not yet packed but busy. So it took a while to get our food and then it was mixed up for someone else’s. We were starving and then the waitress gave us edamame to snack on. When we got our food it was spot on. Pretty good oco sauce and chicken katsu

First the owner was very nice the pride he took in his work amazed me. The presentation of each dish is truly worthy of Michelin star worthy. It was hand crafted with care and precision. Secondly the prices where amazing. I got at least ten entrees and sake and appetizer for 70 bucks. most places with this high quality and display go for upwards of 160-200 for what I had eaten. The staff was very friendly if you love sushi and need a good experience come here. Check the hours though before going and give yourself about an hour before close. the dishes take time to make but it's well worth the miniscule wait.

Excellent sushi! Fish was fresh with a great texture without the "fishy" taste that comes with older fish. Sushi chef was very friendly and it was obvious he takes pride in his work. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Yelp
First off, it's 90 degrees outside and the AC in here is amazing. Soft music in the background is pretty sweet too. This place is family owned amd operated and it shows in the effort they put in gor sure! A buddy and I had a rainbow roll and a spicy tuna roll, amd both werr absolutely top shelf. The owner is very friendly, the service is fast and super friendly. I have absolutely no idea why O'Haru had a 2.7 star rating but this is my third time here this month alone and it's been great every I've ever been here!

Yelp
Horrible food.
Curry was a dry flattened breaded chicken breast Topped with shaved carrots. A side salad of cabbage and canned corn. Weird.
Vegetable tempura, that is made with frozen broccoli, green beans, pumpkin and shrimp??? Oil seemed old, food saturated, shrimp was rubbery. This they took off the bill.
Super dragon roll is $25 and it's mostly mayo. So much mayo and sauce. Half had avocado and cucumber. Half did not. shrimp was made in same grease and the flavor came through.
Ended up taking food home for the animals and went somewhere else.

Yelp
We have been hesitant to try O'Haru's after James left. I wish we would have gone sooner! We loved everything, the food was fresh and soup hot, and the new owners are very friendly. Loved the family friendly ambiance and quick service. Best sushi Ive had in Ukiah in a long time

Yelp
Needs more meat portion in the ramen. Soft boiled egg is awesome but needs to soak in some soy sauce.

Yelp
Stopped by on New Year's Eve while passing through town. Only saw one employee. They were the hostess , cashier, waiter, server, bus person and god knows what else I assume there was another person in the back "cooking". Service exceptionally slow and inattentive We were not comfortable eating raw fish in that environment and left before ordering. Hopefully, the ownership figures out how to operate their business more professionally. Until then, im out.

Yelp
The man that greeted my wife and I was very nice, and I so badly wanted the food to be good.
We started off with pork potstickers, they were pretty good and came with a nice sauce. We than ordered two sushi rolls.
#34 Mermaid roll (Dungeness Crab w/ spicy on top) - I took my first bite and it was full of little bits of shell and the cartridge of the crab. My wife had the same experience with her piece as well. We picked through the roll to see several pieces of shell and cartridge. The crab itself was fishy and we came to the conclusion that this was canned crab. The crab on top was actually imitation crab.
#38 Unakyu (Eel, Avocado & Cucumber) Very bland, barely any eel sauce on top and was wrapped loosely which made it difficult to eat. It also was topped with a whole bunch of carrots which was odd and unpleasant to eat.
The only reason this isn't a 1 star review is because the potstickers were decent and the person taking care of us was very nice.
Overall this place is a waste of money, we actually picked up fast food on the way home.

Yelp
They just re-opened like 5 months ago, so I would assume they would have it together by now. We ordered calamari, rainbow roll, dragon roll, spicy tuna hand roll, and the salmon roll. Calamari was overcooked and it was served with a basic Mae ploy style (store bought) sweet chili sauce. Rainbow roll was just weak. Rainbow rolls are basically the same every where. But this one has a regular fake crab stick inside. Usually it's cut up and has kewpie mayo and season. The dragon roll was bad. The chef literally put bbq sauce on it. The taste is so off it's inedible, did I mention it doesn't come with unagi? So instead of having eel on top it's a bbq sauce and spicy mayo drizzled over. Salmon roll wasn't good either the fish was cut up into chunky pieces which makes the fish very chewy. And the spicy tuna should actually be called the sweet tuna. Too sweet. And once again the chucks of fish were way too big making it chewy.
Service was just ok. Only 2 other tables in there and he was overwhelmed.
Overall this ranks with one of the worst sushi experiences I've ever had.

Yelp
Formerly the best sushi in Ukiah Valley. Now Under new management. The sushi was beautifully decorated but half size; need to order twice as much. I had to ask for wasabi and ginger which didn't come with the tiny pretty spider roll. The miso soup was weak and watery. I hope the new management improves.

Yelp
Very friendly owner operator, highly recommended. Definitely recommend. Worth for anyone to try.

Yelp
This restaurant has a new owner and has just recently reopened. The staff needs work. Just didn't have their act together yet. The menu items need work to. I asked for the potstickers and coconut shrimp. When served I asked the waiter if they were made inhouse. He said no they were purchased. Was hoping to have some sashimi, and ordered a few pieces. Only to be told after a bit of a wait that they didn't have any more of that seafood available. Nor could some of the roll on the menu available. I did get my steamed rice, but it arrived at our table as we were getting ready to leave.
Learned that they have another Japenese restaurant. Not sure how well that one is doing, but if they are duing well they should bring some key workers to train their Ukiah staff.
I haven't given up hope. Had many a good meal their under the old owner. Hopefully this owner can do just as well in the near future. Will try it again in the future. Just not to soon.

Yelp
Small place, but very good. I'm surprised they weren't busier. I ordered two rolls, and he brought me a third on the house. They were all delicious.

Yelp
I went for lunch today and ordered hot tea, which is listed on the menu for $3.50. When my bill came it was listed for $7.00. I asked why and the waitress said $3.50 is the price per cup. A cup is what I ordered. Its the same fricken tea bag whether they drop it in a cup or drop it in a pot.
Tea by the pot isnt on the menu so being charged for a pot when I ordered the cup I saw on the menu makes this even more sleazy.
This is not the first time this place has done a sleight of hand however it is definitely the last time, as I will never go back.
The prices are pretty high for being in Ukiah and for being a rather dumpy little place. Since they are already charging premium pricing, the need to gouge the customer in an underhanded way for a few extra dollars makes the experience a new low for me. Its hard to imagine a restaurant willing to lose customers over a few dollars.
Since Covid has passed, most restaurants are expressing gratitude for having business flourish again. This excuse of a restaurant obviously doesnt see it that way as they dont mind charging $7 for a tea bag.

Yelp
What happened to this restaurant? It used to be so good. Remodeled , new owners and
ridiculously expensive. Sushi was uneatable..
Stay away!!!

Yelp
My first time is since the new owners was pleasant. Service was good and my ramen bowl was tasty and plenty - great flavors in the broth. Looking forward to coming again to try some dinner items.

Yelp
Horrible service, terrible sushi The owner was the only server. She kept forgetting our drinks and food. Very poor quality seafood. I doubt it was sushi grade.
