This is hands down my favorite Chinese restaurant on Long Island—no competition. The classic Chinese-style decor makes me feel as if I’ve traveled back in time to another era. The owner has incredible taste; the artwork and decorative pieces throughout the restaurant are truly worth stopping to admire. Every dish here is like a piece of art—beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. If you’re not sure what to order, just go down the menu in order. Trust me, every single dish is worth trying. Oh, and don’t leave without trying the Eight Treasure Rice—I can confidently say it’s the best I’ve ever had.

O Yes! O Mandarin! On Sunday night, we went to one of Long Island’s best Chinese restaurants, I’m talking about O Mandarin! There are many Chinese takeout and restaurants to choose from, but many are really sub par or just fair ( ok, don’t start piling on, I know there are some good ones too). But for us, O Mandarin offers a beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff, and a menu that offers both traditional favorites with a selection of more authentic options. It’s for these reasons , it’s our favorite. We started with some hot & sour soup 🥣 which was thick and loaded with veggies 🥗 & tofu. The scallion bubble 🫧 pancake 🥞 is unique and delicious. It’s like an airy pillow. Just tear off a piece and dip it in the red curry 🍛 sauce and you will know why this is so different from other places flat style. We tried the crispy shiitake mushrooms 🍄‍🟫 which was new for us. a light, delicate flavor dusted with cumin and chili 🌶️ with lots of crunch. For our main dishes 🍽️ we had the Thousand Layer Tofu, Yu Xiang Chicken 🐔 , and the Wild Pepper 🫑 Beef! Each had its own unique flavor and texture. We loved 🥰 all 3! The Thousand Layer Tofu features: a mix of Pork Belly, Jalapeño 🌶️ , Red Bell 🔔 Pepper , Chinese Celery 🥬 all in a light sauce. The tofu is like folded napkins , not cubes which I really enjoyed. The Yu Xiang Chicken 🐓 is a blend of shredded chicken🐔 , 🧅 strips, Bamboo shoots, Bell Pepper 🫑 , & Mushroom 🍄‍🟫 in a Spicy 🌶️ Garlic 🧄 Sauce. A refreshing dish with a touch of heat 🔥. The Wild Pepper 🌶️ Beef 🥩 was a treat. Bell 🔔 Peppers 🫑 | Jalapeño 🌶️ | Basil 🌿 | Onion 🧅 in a silky Brown Pepper Sauce. Full of flavor! And all throughout our meal we sipped our delicious Jasmine Green Tea 🍵 ! Made with fresh tea 🍵 leaves 🍃. So tasty and aromatic! For great Chinese cooking, take a visit to O Mandarin. It’s worth the trip! 600 Old Country Rd., Hicksville, NY ( just off the wantagh pkwy). Go and enjoy! 😊

Google
A pearl found on Long Island. The name of the restaurant is a garden in a royal palace, and the atmosphere and food truly reflect its name. I wish I could have tried more dishes...but we were full. I'll definitely be back, and I'm glad I discovered this restaurant.

Google
Pretty decoration. Very clean. Staff are super friendly, Vera, Ticha, and Hahng Yi were very attentive, sweet, and polite, and the service was of high quality service We went for lunch specials, plus we ordered wasabi walnut shrimp, bubble pan cake. The prices were good, the food was delicious, with authentic Chinese stir-fried aromatic, not greasy, with nice presentation. Definitely will come back for dinner again.

Google
This restaurant is absolutely stunning inside, with architecture and artwork that make you feel immersed in Chinese culture from the moment you walk in. The food is excellent, and the vegetables were cooked so perfectly soft and flavorful that I had to double check what I was eating. The mix of Chinese and American guests created a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere for me and my friend, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly and accommodating.

Google
We love this place. A nice Chinese restaurant to go to. The food is really good. There are plenty of choices in their menu. The places are nice, very artistic, and clean. Plus the service is very good. The nice lady who assisted us did what needed to be done. We will surely come back for more.

Google
The duck fried rice, sesame chicken, and the two variety of dumplings we tried were literally the best. Especially the dumplings I never had so much flavor in dumplings anywhere else. Also the workers were all super nice 👍

Yelp
Came here for a Christmas Day dinner with my family and it was everything I could've hoped for. The service was accommodating, the location was convenient, the restaurant itself is well decorated and high end feeling without being too stuffy. Food is well priced considering the amount and quality. We kicked things off with cocktails -- my Duck Smoked Old Fashioned hit exactly right on a cold day. For appetizers we tried ever soup dumpling they had, plus the cabbage and cucumber appetizers which were so refreshing, delicious and well seasoned. We ordered a peking duck for the table and it came out crispy and moist with plenty of scallions and hoisin sauce. We also had the wild pepper shrimp which was seasoned so well, and the Mongolian beef which melted in your mouth. We ordered fried rice and chow mein which were also excellent, well seasoned and well cooked without being too salty. I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for outstanding, elevated Chinese food.

Yelp
It's almost two years that O Mandarin has been on regular rotation since my review of our Christmas dinner. Read my first review for notes on ambiance and overall experience. The five stars still hold true but what with today being Thanksgiving, I wanted to show my appreciation for what has become my family's favorite Chinese restaurant! The menu has changed a bit and sadly they no longer have my favorite tofu skin rolls. But they do have an incredible scallion pancake that is unlike any scallion pancake I've ever had before. It's served puffy and when you poke a fork into it, it deflates into a pillowy chewy delight. A delicious peanut/coconut sauce is served with. Yes, it's vegan. My latest favorite entree is the string beans which are served almost dry hot pot style, crispy/slightly charred, spicy and irresistable. It's a large portion and probably meant to be shared, but I actually just get my leftovers to go and enjoy it ASAP the next day. The service here is always nothing short of extraordinary and we truly love this special, beautiful place.
google avatar

Christina Z.

Yelp
Decent string beans, very crispy duck skin. Wish they gave us the carcass though! Plenty of pancakes to make wraps. Chao mian is ok - standard, but not too flavorful The less spice fish was too mild it was missing something. Go for spicy next time. Soup dumplings were pretty good. Servers all nice people.

Yelp
9/4/2022 - We had family dinner at O Mandarine Chinese Restaurant, my sister who has exceptional high end cuisine found this place the most upscale Chinese Restaurant! Luxurious ambience, attention to detail in everything, beautifully seasoned food, helpful invisible staff, fast service all determined a definite recommendation.
google avatar

Maureen C.

Yelp
What can I say? O mandarin never disappoints. The menu is extensive, the food is amazing, and the service was super on pont this time. We had the cucumbers, sticky ribs, soup dumplings, puffy scallion pancake, spinach and clams to start. Omg all were amazing! Which I had two stomachs. For entrees we had the crispy fish, obsessed! So good. Also the duck fried rice, on the side to mix with the fish sauce. Sooooo good! The ambiance is super cute and traditional. Can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu. The ambiance is super cute and traditional

Yelp
"Gentlemen, this is democracy manifest!", "What is the charge? Eating a meal? A succulent Chinese meal?" Oh, Mandarin... indeed! One of my friends had been singing the praises of this place to me for a while, and I'm so glad I got to check it out. The outside sets the stage, with a gorgeous door leading to the interior which is decorated authentically. Service is super fast and friendly, and they stagger the courses as they come out. We lead with some dumplings and dan dan noodles (smash), and some sweet and sour soup. Next we had some mala soup dumplings which really highlighted the mala spice (tingly)! The half duck followed that, and this was a standout must get for me. They had little crepe like wrappers that you could make duck tacos with hoisin. Finally, we did the Dungeness crab in Szechuan sauce and veggies. Very good, flavors really sang through, but very expensive and challenging to eat. Hands down one of the best Chinese places on Long Island. Must try! Everything here just tastes better. The sauces, the proteins.

Yelp
It was quite packed for a Saturday late lunch. We had a round table for 5, which kinda made it hard to talk and reach for the food. But nevertheless, the food made up for it. The menu was quite large and a good range of sichuan and simple Chinese dishes: - the Peking duck wrap was actually pretty good. The skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. It is a little expensive for the amount, but it was really tasty - the pork with bamboo shred ands bean curds was actually my favorite. It was the most consistent flavor and really good over rice - the garlic eggplant was interesting. It was garlicky but tangy and the sauce was really spicy, albeit asking for mild - the Mongolian beef was okay - the garlic rub pork ribs were meh, too much batter and deep fried a little too long making it hard to chew through the batter We were super full and still had leftovers. The waiters were quick and friendly.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times. Food is yummy most of the time, packed with flavor. Prices are slightly higher compared to places in Queens. However I ordered for takeout today and I was honestly kinda of disappointed with the lack of flavor and also smaller portions for the price. I would recommend eating in store and avoid take out options! The restaurant itself is beautiful with traditional Chinese decor!

Yelp
Really good Peking duck (nice crispy skin) Good fu qi fei pian appetizer Chongqing mouthwatering chicken not so good Da pan Ji too much noodles, need more chicken Mao xue wang good Empress dowager sweets are good too Will be back to try more. Def need a reservation! Nice service and cutlery

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food served with class! Loved the one in Hartsdale, like this location even better!

Yelp
The dim lit restaurant was such a pleasant surprise. The entrance and decorations were amazing and gave you something to admire in every part of the restaurant. Good Chinese food is difficult to come by in Hicksville, so this is definitely a go to spot. The service was so kind, and they packed all of our food for us to go. There is a small room for private dinners if you ever need as well! The food was delicious and plated well.
google avatar

Taxi J.

Yelp
Food is good. Staff is rude. I won't return. You can do whatever you like. It's too dark inside like permanently nighttime. Have nothing nice to say about this place. Try Jani in Wantagh ave and Jerusalem ave.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place!! We came here with no reservations on Father's Day. We were a party of 5 and they were able to accommodate us immediately. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. We walked through the gates of heaven and entered O' Mandarin. When I tell you guys, the ambiance of this restaurant is amazing! There is a full bar with more alcohol than my local liquor store-and that's crazy. There are several tables that are inside a booth to create a more private feel for your party. We were blessed to have such a wonderful server, Jenny, aka "Jenny from the block". She was great. Checked on us frequently, cut our beef off the bone and packed our food for us. We appreciated how amazing she was. Now on to the food- For appetizers, we got: Pot stickers 10/10 (sooo good!) Braised ribs 10/10 (sooo good!) Wonton soup 10/10 Hot and sour soup 10/10 (btw, it was super spicy. Like the kind where your nose begins to water, yeah that kind of spicy) Soup dumplings 7/10 (it was ok. ) Scallion pancake (7/10 (I just didn't like the whole bubble thing. And it comes with a curry sauce that I found to be okay. I prefer soy) For entrees: Chicken friend rice 10/10 Beef chow mein 10/10 Mongolian beef 10/10 (I really enjoyed this!) Sesame chicken 10/10 Garlic pepper shrimp 6/10 (this dish seemed more on the healthier side. Not much flavor or sauce. It did come with some vegetables that was good and the shrimp was nice and jumbo. I just pictured garlic pepper shrimp differently in my mind when I ordered it) My husband for a pina colada with a shot of Remy Martin because it's Father's Day and why not. I got a white Mandarin sangria. Not gonna lie, I didn't really like it. It taste like perfume if that makes sense to anyone. (No I've never actually tried perfume but I can imagine this must be what it taste like) I drank it all because we don't waste alcohol over here but I would not order this again. Overall, I really enjoyed this restaurant and will promote it like I worked there. The food, the ambiance and the staff helped us to enjoy our Father's Day. Thank you!

Amrita P.

Yelp
Insanely good! We've become regulars as we just can't get enough. We always get the emperor's lamb, soup dumplings, beef shank & tendon and they're all so addicting and have never failed us. Make sure you try their red sangria and their black sesame colada!
google avatar

Joe P.

Yelp
Oh Mandarin, I had such high hopes! Let's start with the positives. The Peking duck was pretty good although l the half portion did seem a little light on the meat. We had just alerted at Xouji in Glen Cove and even though we got a full duck at Xouji vs half here at OM, the duck at Xouji was 3-4 times bigger; so much meat! But the duck was very tasty and they give you these really thin pancakes, almost crepe like to wrap the duck, which I like a lot more than those fluffy bao buns at some other places. They will also give you more scallions, cucumbers and hoisin sauce if you run out and do not charge like Xouji. So all in all pretty comparable. Their scallion bubble pancake with the curry sauce was also pretty tasty although a little out of place in a Chinese restaurant. I have had a similar dish at a couple of Indian restaurants. Still pretty good. Now for the not so good. The soup dumpling was below average. The skin is too thick, they do not season the meat enough and they do not give you the proper ladle/spoon to eat them. We also ordered 2 of the dumpling sampler for the 3 of us. The dumpling skins were generally not good. Too glutinous; almost undercooked. And I am not sure if you can see from pic, but the details on the dumplings were not good. We could hardly tell what animals they were supposed to be and needed to get the menu to be able to tell. Even the penguin looked more like a bowling pin. The waiter was very helpful and friendly so that was a plus. If we come back, we will get the duck and pancake and maybe try some of their other dishes but avoid the dumplings.

Yelp
We went here for dinner, the food was delicious. But when it came to the dessert it went into a fast fast downward spiral. As we were eating the empowered 8 treasures cookie tray we realized the wood plate it came on was infested with ants. We told the server who was so kind and apologetic about it. Disappointing enough they only took off the dessert, didn't offer anything else. In any other establishment the entire bill would've been taken care of, not for nothing your desserts were infested with ants. Sadly will not be returning.

Yelp
Food: 7/10 Service: 10/10 Atmosphere: 9/10 Value: 6/10 My family had a rather pleasant dining experience here two days ago. The place looked quite odd outside because a big storage building right next to it. But once you pushed the heavy door, you would see a totally different world. I liked the simple traditional elements all around. From the China red columns to traditional wooden engraved tables and chairs. They reminded me the Forbidden City. The most beloved 8 Treasure Manchurian mini sweets by Empress Dowager, elegantly lying in this exquisitely made gift box ( see my photo attached). I think I was sold just by this setting. Lol! Now food. The place offered mixed styles of dishes, Sichuan mostly, traditional Beijing and American Chinese. The steamed fish: 9/10. I requested no oil pouring on the fish as the final touch, which it is considered as the most key step of this dish. I personally just never found that was necessary nor healthy nor pretty. Not that I didn't respect the chef's expertise (my husband often warns me I would be kicked out in Europe when dining in. lol). The Peking Duck: per my son 10/10 however don't buy this. Because he has never had a real Peking Duck in Beijing yet. But judged from the presentation, the skin looked thin and crispy. The color looked nice n rather atttactive in its red brown, fairly appealing. However, the duck meat was so thickly cut under the pretty skin. The wrapping pan cakes were nicely warmed and a bit challenging to seperate them. One order of wrapping cake wasn't not enough so we ordered another set. Salt & pepper pork ribs: 8/10. Surprising not greasy and very nice flavor. Not of the bone so it was fun to work on it a little bit. Bean sprout in garlic: 8/10. It would be so much more enjoyable if less oil. Again, the Golden Rule is, the simpler the better. Beef with Napa cabbage and Chinese asparagus in chill oil: 8/10. The flavor was great. MSG of course but not too crazy. What a pity the cut of beef was too thick. Silky tofu with thousand year old egg in chill oil: 8/10. Very good in terms of flavor. I know it was diodes to enjoy with a heavy chill oil. This dish was in a beautiful cold metal bowl on a traditional engraved metal stand. If the chops of garnish more refine, this would be 10/10. Dan Fan noodles:6/10. Very average. The noodle was too soft for Dan Dan. Lacking of chewing sensation that traditional ones requires. The topping missed finely chopped preserved Chinese cabbage, as well as crushed peanuts. But it was very popular on the table. The final and the highlight of the brunch was the 8 Treasure old Manchurian mini sweets! 11/10! Yes, you heard it right! 11/10. lol! I was a snub when came to sweets. But these from here I could eat them every day. There well fresh out of making and extremely light in taste. I honestly felt like the Empress Dowaher for a moment. Thank you chef, as a Manchurian, I was ecstatic! Service: 10/10. Our waitress Nook was very pleasant and sweet. Constantly checking with us if things were needed. She wore a day time makeup and very much respect her job and the guests. The girls at the front door needed to be seriously trained to be the front face of the business. They had no smiles nor warmth. I almost mistaken them as two Egyptian mummies. lol.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, seating ranges from date worthy to family gatherings. We went on Valentine's Day during lunch. Every lady received a glass of champagne. The food may seem to be on the pricier side, but the quality is there. This is where it's quality over quantity. We ordered the 8 treasure tea, served in gaiwan with a pot of hot water. The tea flavor changes over time and brewing. It was a nice touch to the meal with health benefits. We had the Sichuan wontons which were decent. The Sichuan peppercorn chicken was deboned and very flavorful. The fresh peppercorns were very fragrant. Our mains were the emperor grill lamb and mixed vegetables and tofu clay pot. The (cumin) lamb taste wise is typical, but the cut of meat was perfectly matched. The house-made buns were a nice complement to the spices. The tofu clay pot was my favorite. Tofu pieces were first pan fried before cooked in braising sauce with the other veggies. It is not the typical high heat stir fry. Overall we had a wonderful experience with the ambiance, wait staff and quality of food. It was nice to just sit there and enjoy the decor while sipping tea.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try O Mandarin. Glad we chose to dine in, enjoying the environment and freshly made dishes is such a wise decision. I think they change the menu time to time. We were interested in a dish from Yelper's picture, but the restaurant on longer has it. Also surprised they don't have Sichuan cold jelly (?) 川北凉粉 on the menu. We tried: - Chengdu mouthwatering chicken 口水鸡 4/5. I like the flavor but the chicken was a little dry. When I ate the leftover next day, the chicken fell apart. I don't mind but just find it odd. - Sliced pork belly 蒜泥白肉 3.5/5. The portion is small. Flavor is not bad. - Scallion bubble pancake 葱油泡饼 4/5. It's a fun concept! The only thing is that menu says it comes with red curry dip, but the dip tastes like spicy mayo. - thousand layer tofu 干锅千页豆腐 4/5. If you never had thousand layer tofu before, it has a more chewy texture than the usual firm tofu. This dish has more sauce than typical 干锅 (dry pot) dishes; it may get heavy if you keep eating it. - Emperor grilled lamb 贝勒羊肉 4.5/5. O Mandarin makes this dish better than Chai in Midtown West and Juqi in Flushing. The lamb is perfect. We do wish the mini pancakes can be crispy to add more texture. Service was good. Note that the waitresses don't seem to speak Chinese. If you come with older families who order in Chinese, you may need to help translate.

Yelp
O Mandarin in Hicksville off of Old Country Road is a surprisingly large pretty restaurant with many seemingly happy customers including families with young children on a Friday night. Menus on booklets or tablets with lots to choose from. The food is presented attractively. The fish was fresh. The Tea smoked duck fried rice was an interesting mix of flavors. Super noisy which made it hard to order to waitress Tiffany. I totally get missing words as I never got the tea and reminded her to bring sides of soy and duck sauce with the order of potstickers. This noted, a toss up of giving 3 stars. Why? I really hate to have to share my food with insects or bugs of any kind. Even 1 of that with which I saw. ( see video) No dessert for me as wholly un eaten I asked it taken off the bill and yet with sweet - Sorry - another was brought out for me to again, I repeat that perhaps someone else might like it and requested simply to take it off the bill of which then was done, bringing the order of 3 items to near $60.00. The cliche' Never say never, I'm not planning on going back soon.

Yelp
Delicious all around? Service was dutiful and professional Ambience was spectacular Now for the food 1 duck friend rice was perfectly cooked and spiced...could have benefitted from more duck and more vegetables but was delicious anyhow 2. Chicken and broccoli had sooo much chicken and it was moist and the broccoli was cooked perfectly 3. The mandarin ribs were small on size but large on flavor and seasoning 4. Scallion pancake was nice and crispy and a do-not-miss offering and the sauce was delectable 5. spring rolls were very good. Be aware that the wrapper is not thin but a little thicker and more like an egg roll but not as darkly friend and with much less ingredients 6. Beef and broccoli had sooo much beef and onion and both were soooo tender and cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Yelp
Impromptu dinner and a friend recommended this place. It is pretty spacious inside with table and booth seating. Extensive menu with good selection of spicy dishes. The Peking Duck skin was crispy and comes with flour crepes. It was delicious! Decent portion size for family style. Bubble Scallion Pancake was cool! The appetizers were very good. Service was friendly and efficient. If you're looking something other than Cantonese cuisine, I recommend this place.

Yelp
Beautiful ambience and delicious Chinese food. I would absolutely recommend. I happen to be there for lunch and the lunch special was a very good value. I got a delicious peppery Wonton soup and String beans with shrimp for only $15. The food is very fresh and authentic. I would definitely come back. As a matter of fact, I did, the following week. Service was excellent as well. For me, O Mandarin does deserve a five star review. I'm not sure what their regular dinner prices are but I'm sure they are a little in the pricier side for Chinese food but you are dining in a very lovely setting and the food is delicious and fresh. Sorry no food photos. LOL

Yelp
Food was fantastic ! Had to start there , the waitress was phenomenal, we tried this place out because of the design of the place and how everything looked online. We had drinks and amazing entrees, we wanted to try the dessert and when the dessert platter arrived which was noted as a popular one it had ants on the bottom of it, we alerted the server and they only took care of the dessert. Being in the industry we understand a lot but not one manager came to the table it was all left to the server to take care of. It could've been handled a lot better. Sad.

Yelp
A friend recommended O Mandarin to me as an "authentic" and "upscale" Chinese restaurant on Long Island. Ambience: they went all out on the decor, taking a page out of Disneys playbook. This looks like the set of Mulan. The dining rooms are spacious but darkened with mood lighting to highlight the food. Food: Peking Duck - skin was crunchy and the duck was flavorful, however, the duck was warm, not hot. 4/5 Scallion bubble pancake - a variation of the traditional pancake where the pancake is inflated like a bubble. 4/5 Braised beef noodle soup - mostly tendons, the noodles were a little soft and soggy. 3/5 Crispy Whole Fish - fried fish filleted and served with sweet and sour sauce. Tangy and succulent. 4/5

Yelp
"Oh, Mandarin boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side..." - Sung to the tune of "Oh Danny boy.." I checked the menu, and they don't serve cornbeef cabbage fried rice :) Welcome to high-end traditional Sichuan inspired cuisine. Nice size parking lot is a plus for starters. There are two locations. The original location is in Hartsdale, NY, this is the sister location. When you first walk in, they immediately set the tone. The Zen like ambiance has a calming effect and can be best described as dark and romantic. The lights are dim and the furnishings are dark which puts you in a relaxed and tranquil mood. We were a large group of 11 and ordered the following: * Garlic pork belly - New item, the sauce could have been more aromatic. C- * Scallion chicken - New item, boiled chicken served over scallion, ginger and spices ground together. C+ * peppercorn chicken. C- * glazed spare ribs - soy glazed sticky and sweet. A+ * Whole duck - on the smaller size and sliced in the kitchen and brought out. A- * Twice cooked pork - tasty sauce and seasoned well. A+ * Sesame chicken - Classic tangy sauce with sesame sprinkled on top. A+ * General tso chicken - taste just like sesame chicken without the sesame. A+ * Mongolian beef - sautéed perfectly with tender cuts of beef. C+ * Snow pea pods - Some leaves were old/ tough. C- * Fish fillet with rice wine sauce - the rice wine was too light. The fish was cooked well. B+ * lamb with cumin - The lamb was delicious as the balance of cumin and seasonings was perfect. A- * yang zhao fried rice - Perfect. A+ * vegetable fried rice with chicken. A+ The service was attentive and friendly. The servers made sure our glasses were always full and removed our dirty plates frequently. The portion sizes are mostly average for the entrées and smaller on the appetizers. This menu is not designed for everyones palate as this is Sichuan style influenced cooking. As I mentioned earlier this is high end Chinese fine dining with not many common dishes you would find in other Chinese restaurants, and the price can be pretty steep. Overall a decent place offering quality food and stellar service.

Anita M.

Yelp
My husband and I found this restaurant on Yelp today and so glad we did! Great customer service, ambiance and the food was delicious! Tiffany was our server and was very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. We had Szechuan wonton, soup dumplings, minced garlic pork belly and shrimp with broccoli. The red sangria was refreshing. We will definitely return and try more items!

Yelp
Their standards for both food and cleanliness remain consistently high. This place shows professionalism. Guest service exceeds expectations! Really delicious and they serve plenty. My regular place. I find value in this place and believe you will too.

Yelp
Had dinner last night with friends for first time. FANTASTIC! I'll be going back. The wait staff attended to us often and very friendly (especially SUI) We'll be going back for sure

Yelp
I work in the area and stopped here for takeout. I felt like I was getting sick, so I ordered a fish soup and it was absolutely delicious. I can tell this place has very authentic food, which is very hard to find these days. I can't wait to try other dishes from here.

Yelp
We live an hour away but it is worth the drive. O Mandarin is by far our favorite Chinese food restaurant. The ambiance is wonderful; cozy with an authentic old world decor. The food is amazing...always fresh, beautifully plated, and always delicious. You'll find many unique dishes all cooked to perfection. The menu has many choices and there is something for everyone. The staff is helpful, friendly and the service is beyond excellent. Thank you O Mandarin!

Yelp
O Mandarin is our favorite restaurant on Long Island. The interior design is unique and brings out the Chinese culture vibe. The restaurant is very spacious so it never felt crowded like some other Chinese restaurants in the city. We usually don't make a reservation and are able to get seated pretty quickly. The service is efficient, never had a bad experience here the many times that we went. The food is really authentic! If you want a real Chinese experience, this is the place to be. The most important thing is that everything is well worth the price! Given the overpriced restaurants these days, O Mandarin really gives the most bang for your buck. So if you are looking for authentic Chinese flavors that does not cost too much, this is the place to be!

Yelp
Found this spot wondering if it was any good. Felt a little gimmick-y, but decided to give it a go. Don't get me wrong. The service was extremely fast and the food was out in seconds!? Which amazed me the most. Food was good, but for that price. The value don't seem to be there. It's something that's comparable to standard Asian cuisine. Was it innovative? No. Was it a work of art? No. Was it slathered in gold and truffle !? Again.. No. BUT, the cooks there definitely brought their A game and busted out ever dish in a timely manner. It definitely targets more of the audience with deeper pockets. If they bring it down a notch on the prices it would drive more customers. But, I guess you're paying for the decor, services, and food as a combo set. It's like eating in Epcot ! Where you get to immerse yourself in Chinese culture and cuisine! Don't forget the cost is the same! $$$$.

Yelp
Every time we come here, it's a HIT ! These are only a portion of the photos from 1 experience at O Mandarin. An awesome person PMO to this establishment and I've been hooked EVER SINCE ! I've tried several of their teas and it's always incredibly fresh. The herbs simmer in the pot, on the spot. The decor, the servers, everyone is always so pleasant attentive and helpful! I LOVE this place! My newest favorite are the tofu spring rolls... it's literally bursting with flavor and I was shocked! My friend said they couldn't tell that there it was no meat! The Peking duck was cooked to PERFECTION! One of my favorite foods are tacos and I promise I made "Peking wraps" with the duck. AMAZING and very taco esq Beverages- 10/10 Food- 10/10 Decor- 10/10 Service 10/10 Will I return ? I CANT WAIT TO!

Yelp
I ordered 2 take-out dishes and both weren't very good. Chicken fried rice had an odd taste, nothing like normal fried rice. Didn't enjoy it at all. Chicken with Thai basil was awful, I wound up throwing it out. And the online pricing was way out of date. will never go back.

Yelp
Best Peking duck I've found in Long Island so far in 5 years. Crunch skin and they trim the fat.

Yelp
We loved O Mandarin's elegant Asian decor with wooden ceiling beams, spacious booths lining the walls and beautiful red light fixtures. Our first visit was early on a week night but the place was crowded. Good sign. We waited 15 minutes for someone to approach our table, they appear to be understaffed. Started off with a lychee martini, OK but would have preferred it served ice cold. Tea smoked duck rice was delicious, lightly spiced but still flavorful. Wonton soup made with light shrimp and pork dumplings was definitely a cut above the usual version taste-wise, but served in very tiny bowls at $5.00 each. We're big fans of Peking Duck so ordered that. We shared a whole duck which came with all of the usual accoutrements (sliced scallion, plum sauce, ultra thin pancakes). Took awhile to arrive, then the female server banged the platter down loudly without making eye contact or saying anything to us. Oh-kay. The duck itself was good with nicely crisped skin, but smaller and fattier than I've had elsewhere. At $85.00 we would not choose the Peking Duck again; food prices may be up across the board but this seemed like galloping duckflation to me! Good experience overall, look forward to trying a wider array of dishes in the future.

Yelp
Very nice decor inside, with some fancy Chinese food that's a bit pricey. Super friendly staff and cool vibe. A good option for special occasions. For the dishes, these are the items we tried: - Mouthwatering chicken as an appetizer to start (average for me) - Yang Zhou fried rice was great for kids to share - Stew with pickled cabbage with black bass (fish soup) comes in a giant bowl ($100+), a bit pricey imo, we took leftovers to go, soup was pretty sour from the pickled cabbage - Emperor Grilled Lamb with buns (a popular dish recommended by the waiter), my group liked it but it was okay for me - Smoked Pork Belly & Bamboo (skippable for me, some people liked it more) - String Bean (good!) - YuXing Eggplant (good!) - Rice is free! Overall a good experience but kinda pricey so probably won't be coming back unless I'm in this area again and craving Chinese food.

Yelp
If you are driving down Old Country Road in Hicksville, you might pass by this restaurant and think it might be old and dated. Stop. Take a breath. Pull into the parking lot and experience a restaurant that is beautiful, romantic and spacious. With it's dark tones, authentic decor and private booths that make you feel close and intimate, you are in for a fantastic ride. The restaurant, including the bathrooms, were sparkling clean. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be working there. Our waitress was delighted in recommending dishes and accommodating any allergies. We ordered: Cucumber Salad, Fresh Sichuan Peppercorn Chicken, Sichuan Basil Chicken, Chicken and Egg Fried Rice and Chao Mein. The waitress advised us that the Peppercorn Chicken was spicy. Boy was she right. Hot, Hot, Hot. But with the Cucumber Salad, it eased the spice and twenty minutes after the Peppercorn Chicken and three glasses of water, our mouths cooled off. We liked it's heat, but would not order it again if we returned. Not due to the spice, it just didn't excite us the way we thought it would. The Cucumbers were zesty, with a nice dressing and a great way to open your palette. The Rice and the Chao Mein are the show stoppers. Probably the best we've had anywhere over the years. Just two magnificent dishes that melt in your mouth and that you crave about two hours later when you wished you had leftovers. The Basil Chicken was delicious. Period. It was presented in a paper cooking sheet which the waitress unwraps and is a burst of flavor in your mouth. The service was amazing. The food came out quick but there was no rush at all. This is a top notch place to eat and enjoy the company. I enjoyed both for sure!

Yelp
This is the best beef noodle soup that I've had in this area. It's flavorful it's seasoned well. It has the most delicious amount of spice. The noodles are cooked to perfection and the meat is super tender. I ordered on Uber Eats and they bag they used to transport is insulated and really high-quality. I wish I could give this soup 10/5 stars.

Yelp
Here's an update: I've been here twice in the past couple of months. Both times my bill did not match the menu prices. I called it to my server's attention and she did adjust the bill. She said it's a new system, and some of the prices are incorrect. Be aware if this! Pay attention to what the menu prices are and what they actually charge you for. The food was still good.

Yelp
Service: 4/5 Food: 3/5 Authenticity: 2/5 Ambience: 5/5 I would say the food are altered for American taste buds. We order Peking duck, chili fish, chengdu mouthwatering chicken, kung bao chicken, garlic watercress, sichuan wontons, sichuan peppercorn beef intestines, special lambs. Most of the dishes had a sweeter taste than the regular sichuan cruisines. My friends and I had a great time overall.

Yelp
It's a treat not a meal. Awesome food by any standard, not ethnically hot but very tasty. Friendly polite efficient smiling servers give this place a special identity. The venue is Classical Chinese; if you like it, you're in heaven, if not , concentrate on the food and you're back in heaven.

Yelp
Finally a an authentic Chinese spot with good ambiance and delicious food! I loved the fresh basil and jalapeños they had in my meal. The food had a good kick for spice without needing the chili oil.the service however wasn't the greatest. Our server never came to ask us if need need another drink, if the food was ok. Besides that, I recommend this place for sure.

Yelp
I found out about this restaurant from seeing Eric Gao on the list as a semi-finalist in the James Beard award for best chef in NY state. Made a 7:30pm reservation for Sunday evening and was seated shortly after. The restaurant was packed and quite big for its size. There's a bar area and 3 sections of dining. The decor is beautiful with relics and antiques that transport you to a different time. Jenny was our server and she was great. Upbeat, checked in on us frequently and friendly. We were a party of 6 and ordered 15 items: Fresh Spinach and Clams: prepped with wasabi sesame oil. this is a cold and refreshing dish. i like the spicy component. definitely an interesting flavor for clams and spinach! Emperor's cabbage: super simple, made with sesame paste and a vinaigrette. Tasty with a nice crunch! lotus root: This was a bit sweet to my liking but my husband liked the preparation. Cilantro tofu soup: good soup base. simple but tasty with strong cilantro flavor. Hot and sour soup: the husband always tries a hot and sour soup if it's on the menu and he ranked this one of the tops. Thousand layer tofu and pork belly: delicious! looks spicy but the heat is just enough. love the textures. great with rice. Tea smoked duck: cooked perfectly. Meat is juicy. you get the jasmine tea aromas. yum! Orange Chicken: this was surprisingly good. crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. you get the orange rind flavors too. tasty! Country Style pork and chili: This is more of a homey, comfort dish. It's got the flavor profiles of a home cooked dish which is good but nothing really stood out. Would skip this one and order something more unique next time. Fresh Scallop on the shell: prepped with vermicelli and garlic sauce. This was the star of the evening. scallop was cooked perfectly. The sauce is DIVINE. I don't usually like vermicelli but it was absolutely delish with the garlic sauce. highly recommend! Fluke filet in white wine sauce: fish was cooked to perfection. tender and delicate flavors. Sweet pea prawns: GIANT prawns, cooked just right. love the slight sweetness from the peas. Kung pao shrimp: I ordered this by mistake since it was so similar to the sweet pea prawns but it was pretty good. It's got some heat and crunch from the peanuts but i prefer the other prawn dish. Chengdu fried rice: good earthy flavors. simple but cooked well and not oily! Emperor's eight treasures dessert: beautiful presentation. nothing was too sweet and Jenny explained what each item was made with. definitely worth trying! Overall, a stellar chinese restaurant with a variety of tasty dishes that range from different spice levels. You get the traditional staples but the good stuff is in the more unique dishes. Ask your server for what they recommend! It looks like they've expanded the menu quite a bit compared to the menu you see on the website. We'll be back to try more dishes from the chef's signature dishes section. Make a reservation if you want to dine on the weekend during peak hours! People were told to wait an hour at 7ish. Happy to live only 20 min away so we can pop in for a good meal!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this meal! Cannot wait to come back. I forgot to photograph a few of the dishes but they were delicious! I wanted to try a little bit of everything and my party was only 2 so I had a lot of left overs! Favorite was the mouthwatering chicken, beef tripe & cilantro, cucumber salad was refreshing and delicious and the beef shank & tenderloin! Super delicious ! The interior is also great, dining tables were spaced out nicely so your not piled on top of one another. Our waitress was friendly as well !
