From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. On a cold Saturday night the service was impeccable – attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish was bursting with flavor. To top it all off, the owner personally came to our table to greet us, and even sent over a complimentary appetizer, which was a delightful surprise. The delicious food is worth the downsides of this restaurant. Staff was pretty disorganized, and the restaurant looks like it needs a sparkle, but the phone was ringing off the hook even at 4:30 p.m.,, and the authentic smells and flavor take you straight to Italy. I'd come back for seconds.

This is our go to Italian restaurant. Fantastic entrees and pizza, and the owner is wonderful. He personally checks on each table to make sure everyone is happy. We always leave full and satisfied!

Lobster fra diavolo, all i can say is WOW! "qui si mangia bene" Translation "here we eat well"! My wife and I frequent here 3 or 4 times a month for dinner. Food always meets or exceeds our expectations. My wife ordered off the standard menu but I always ask to hear the nightly specials. She had the lobster ravioli. I had the coniglio Cacciatore with a side of Iyltalian long hits! Normally you don't expect to find this level if 5 star food a basic local restaurant/ pizzeria. Btw that's rabbit! Had dinner when in the area for business after my husband, who also works in the area, raved about the place and ate their multiple times a week for several weeks. Food was absolutely amazing from apps to the main course and even the desserts. Main chef and owner is so friendly and treats everyone like they are family. I will definitely be back for any special occasion.

Wow! Just scarfed down a slice of this pizza. So many places say they make New York-style pizza, but this place actually does! Some of the best pizza you're gonna find in Central Jersey. John even went out of his way to drive this over to Fanwood. You can tell immediately if a place imports the best cheese, makes the sauce fresh, and brings in fresh ingredients. This is a no-doubter! Such a hidden gem! The shrimp scampi was bursting with garlic and white wine flavor, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. Really fantastic, low-key spot in Cranford that's sure to please any palate. I was in a party of 7 coming in to celebrate joint birthdays with my brother (along with his family and my folks). We were treated to some freshly baked bread and then a gorgeous platter of a wide assortment of goodies, like: mortadella and various other meats and cheeses, charred octopus, fried whiting, double-decker grilled cheese, fried calamari, mussels in tomato sauce, eggplant rollatini, fried shrimp, and clams casino. All just scrumptious. We probably could have stopped there (and maybe should have lol), but we then ordered some Arancini (2x per order, but easy to share halves, etc.), Pasta Pescatore (Shrimp, clams, calamari & mussels, prepared with wine & plum tomatoes with garlic sauce), osso buco and rack of lamb (both specials), a side of meatballs (2x per order with a nice amount of ricotta, but yeah, like the arancini, very shareable). The arancini and meatballs were amazing, osso buco was super super tender and packed with flavor...everything was just fresh and delicious. Great food, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit!

I ordered pizza and a sub for delivery. 30 minutes after I ordered I get a text message that my order has been canceled. Unacceptable. If they cannot fulfill the order don't accept it or cancel it within 5 minutes, not right before it should be delivered. Won't be ordering from here again.

We were looking for some Italian comfort food on a rainy dreary day, but we weren't in our usual neighborhood so I found this restaurant on Yelp. It was a good find. I just don't think it's the best place for vegetarians. After we ordered they brought us a complimentary antipasto board. At first I noticed the salami and said that we don't eat meat, but everything else on the board was vegetables and cheese so we just didn't eat the meat. We had also ordered the artichoke francaise appetizer. It was unique and delicious. For my main course I ordered the gnocchi. I had asked the waitress whether the sauce had meat and she said no. After it was served I found meat in it. The manager (owner?) said they use the same sauce they use for their Sunday gravy which it sounds like is cooked with meat in it so a small piece made its way into the dish. He remade the dish for me but I think still used the same sauce. I should have specified at that point to just use the marinara or something else. (I must say it was delicious!). The restaurant is small and cozy with Italian music appropriately playing - but quite loudly. Overall it was a good restaurant and a good experience but if you don't want meat be sure to be very specific.

Super happy belly happening right now. The great is the food for sure. My son ordered fettuccine Alfredo and got a truly giant plate with no less than a lb of pasta and a half lb of cheese. The plate you see is after he ate it and we all had big tastes. One of the best of this classic dish I've ever had. The chicken francese was excellent and the pasta sauce for the side was awesome. Kids portion was huge too and the chicken parm sandwich was met with praise also. One star off for the very annoying plastic on the table cloths that sit on your legs and make them sweaty. The music is a bit loud for me. We hit the place when I think their a/c was out which was unfortunate but we u sweat and when things aren't perfect... especially when your food is fantastic.

After spending the majority of the day on our feet, my friend and I were looking for a place to grab something to eat, and we decided to stop by and try this place. When we walked in, we were greeted immediately and taken to sit down, which was appreciated. We ordered our food and were pleasantly surprised by it, especially since we ordered with dietary restrictions and those aren't always paid attention to. The place itself is clean and cozy with casual vibes. Pros: - Food is great - Clean bathroom - BYOB (based on the couple we observed right next to us) Cons: - Space is small, so as they get busier, it gets packed and the space feels "tight" - Bathroom is located close to the register and by where the servers plug in orders, so it can get crowded in that tiny area - Servers seemed to prioritize other customers and we had to call their attention to us a few times Overall, the food made the experience worth it. Food was excellent, but I don't know if I would dine in next time. Might just choose to order and take it to go, instead.

We've ordered takeout from here many times, but had not come in to dine in before. The owner was very gracious and hospitable. He went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Our waiter Sammy was also great. Everything tasted good. Big portions. We were also entertained by "Billy the Kid" Priscoe, who is a regular there and makes the entire night enjoyable for every patron.

Consistently awesome. Pizza, Bronzino Sinatra, shrimp parm hero. You really can't go wrong. The servers and management are very attentive and more than willing to update or deviate a little. Since it's summer, they now have a sidewalk dining area that's fenced in for Al fresco dining, very nice addition to the already comfortable dining room. Continue to return

Came here again for an early dinner and once again it didn't disappoint. The place is tiny but has style! Our server was awesome and friendly. We had the Chicken Franchise and the chicken Parmesan with vodka sauce. Both were delicious. I can't recommend this place enough!

I ordered one chicken dish for dinner which came with pasta, and they got everything wrong. I said- no peppers, and linguine pasta. They brought me the wrong pasta (penne) and peppers on the chicken dish. They did politely bring out a bowl of linguine when I let them know that I got the wrong pasta, but the waiter didn't come back for a while so when I noticed the peppers and wanted to let them know and ask them to remove.. I ended up eating around them because my food was getting cold and the waiter wasn't coming out for a while. There was only one other table dining there..so it's not like they were overwhelmed with tables to wait on. The portions are large, prices are reasonable, but it was really nothing special. I also thought the bread they brought out smelled peculiar, my friend did too.

My first time coming here after switching owners. With no AC I would bot recommend dining in the summer. Foods not fresh and the one star is only left for the good customer service. I've had better Italian food made from my middle school lunch lady.

Waited 50 minutes for calamari and my pasta came 5-10 min after my veal (Which was undercooked). Our waitress didn't come over once to tell us there was a delay nor check med with us once we got our food. She also took forever to give us check while chatting it up with another table in front of us. The owner was nice tho.

The Zuppe de Mussels are perfectly cooked! We ordered pasta and pizza and everything was delicious, but these mussels are so fresh, tender and the sauce is just right. We enjoy O Sole Mio each and every time we order!

Good Italian food at very modest prices! The most expensive item on the menu is veal masala at $23 and worth it - tender veal, lots of musrooms, good gravy. Most of the rest is below $20. (The spaghetti sauce needs salt! The bread needs to be better.) But overall quick friendly service with good food in a very casual setting including outdoor tables with easy parking and a nice corner location. A nice new addition to the area.

Food was great small Italian place where the service and ambiance matched the food. Looking forward to our next visit We went back and it was even better. So hanged from 4 to 5 stars. I am almost sorry to post this cause it will be even busier Everyone deserves to have authentic Italian food and a service and owner that when you ask says on house for desert as they were so busy - only if everyone understood service and hospitality like he and his staff did.

I don't think I can say anything bad about this pizza. Was just hoping to stop and get a slice before continuing on a road trip and didn't expect to get such a delicious treat. We ordered the chicken francese, buffalo chicken, and plain slices. Each one was a 10/10. The plain had an excellent cheese pull too! They also had a little pepperoni roll-up thing that was delicious here. Staff was also very pleasant and brought over our slices when they were ready and then came back with napkins and utensils.

This is quite literally the best restaurant in the area! Not only is the service and the food amazing it is affordable too! We love going here as a family or even for date night, Francesco always makes sure that all his clients are satisfied and leave with a smile on their face. 10/10 would recommend to everyone

We tried out this place by ordering pizza takeouts (Mediterranean pizza) which were consistently delicious. So we decided to dine in. For appetizers, we got the arugula salad and calamari. The salad was fresh and the dressing was refreshing. For the calamari, the rings were crispy outside and tender inside. We also ordered the mussels one time but the portion was too big for two and not our favorite. For pasta, we tried Salsiccia Con Broccoli Rabe and Linguine Vongole. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauces were delicious. For entrees, we ordered Chicken Cleopatra and grilled swordfish. The chicken dish was tasty. The doneness of the swordfish was perfect, but the grill mark tasted a bit bitter. Also, it would be better if it came with some kind of dipping sauce to enhance the flavor. Overall, we liked most of the dishes, especially the pasta! Some places precooked their pasta and just heated it up before serving, which made the pasta saggy and no texture at all. Not here. They knew how to do it. The pasta was cooked to perfection and served al dente. The service was warm and the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. Frank, the owner, was always there to welcome customers and make sure they were happy. I appreciate this kind of neighborhood hospitality! This place will be our go-to Italian restaurant from now on!

Happy to have found this great new pizza place! It had previous owners, and the pizza is now a huge upgrade. My favorite so far is the meatball pizza - topped with plenty of their homemade meatballs. We ordered delivery once and pick up once, both quick service.

I absolutely loved it, I went here with my family and the place was amazing it feels so cozy and the service here is amazing everyone is so nice and the food here was so great that it's my go to place now.

The pizza is excellent. However, on the receipt was a listing showing "Tax 1" and "Tax 2" neither of which was equal to the appropriate NJ sales tax. WTF? Is that legal?? When we questioned it, the reply was that everyone gets charged the 2 taxes. We were then shown other receipts (with inconsistent "Tax 1" and "Tax 2" amounts). What is going on here?

This place is a hidden gem! One would never expect such a fine dining experience when entering this quaint, though unassuming, restaurant. The grilled octopus salad appetizer was fresh and perfectly seasoned, My daughter loved her seafood pescatore and had plenty left to take home and my wife loved her lobster ravioli. I had the grilled swordfish special which came with a portion that was literally as big as my forearm and grilled to perfection. Best version of that dish I've ever eaten. Will definitely be visiting this establishment regularly going forward.

My mom lives in Clark and I wanted to take her and my wife to lunch. I have tried other pizza places in the area and I asked for something new. My mother said she tried O Sole Mio recently after they took it over from the previous owners and renamed the place. the owner, Frank, told my mom, Rose, that she was the first customer so hopefully she brings him luck. Anyway, we are in the restaurant and was greeted by Pat from behind the counter. He made us feel like we knew us for years. I always judge an Italian restaurant by its red sauce. Theirs was perfect. Nice and sweet. I ordered the sausage and Broccoli rabe, my wife had the grilled chicken and vegetables, and my mom had the Grandma pizza. Everything was delicious. The sausage was high quality and not something from a supermarket. The broccoli rabe was perfectly prepared with just the right amount of garlic and oil. The grilled chicken was seasoned just right and the vegetables were tender. The pizza was delicious as well. Definitely returning to this restaurant from now on.

First time here and what delicious food. The pizza was perfect and we have tried tons of places. The service was excellent and so attentive to us. The owner came by and genuinely thanked us and spent time discussing food and the industry. Tonight we are going back for entrees as they looked fabulous. We will be reporting back shortly. My wife and I went the other day for our anniversary and were brave enough to bring baby. We'd heard rave reviews and I really wanted some authentic Italian food. The servers were polite and helpful throughout our meal. I just immediately felt at home when I walked in, and had this feeling of being transported to my grandparents' place. We got the octopus salad (yes!)& arancini for apps, chicken prosciutto & veal with sides of pasta. I actually got teary eyed eating the veal because it tasted just like my Nana's. Got to practice my Italian with the family & just had an overall amazing experience. We can't wait to come back. I felt so at home and will come back just to get that sense of connection to my roots again.

My husband & I went to O Sole Mio for pizza on a Friday evening. It was our 1st time since the new owner opened up. The pizza was very good. A light flavorful sauce, & a tasty crisp crust. The owner personally came over to our table to greet us. We will definitely return!

Everything we have tried has been fantastic! Pizza is the best. Recently ordered ordered offsite catering - penne with vodka sauce, eggplant parm, sausage peppers onions, chicken marsala, chicken Murphy (my fav) - everyone raved and wanted to know where the food was from. The owner is so personable and really cares that customers enjoy their meals. Looking forward to dining in person (byob) in near future to try other dishes. Excellent chicken fingers for the kids.

This cozy neighborhood Pizzeria is a neighborhood Gem! Francesco is the proprietor and chef. He knows his regulars on a first name basis. The pizza and salads are fantastic and the entrees are freshly prepared and generously proportioned. This is a casual, BYOB where you come to relax and have a great meal. We have regularly ended up meeting new friends or chatting with fellow diners. The weekly specials such as the Bronzino alba Sinatra or the Broiled Salmon with glazed Brussels sprouts are to die for. The soups are all home made and amazing! This is my go to place.

What a wonderful place to visit. The owner Francesco is such a nice individual. He is such a caring business owner. Will do whatever he needs to do for his customers - he is so accommodating (this alone is a rarity in todays business world). Francesco and his family all work extremely hard and by the time you leave his establishment, you will feel like part of his family. We have explored the menu from pasta to chicken dishes and recently tried different pizza's and WOW we really have found a hidden GEM. This establishment is also a BYOB. If you want to sit, relax and enjoy a wonderful meal your next visit should be to O Sole Mio. Excellent!! Had their meatballs, truffle pasta, cheesesteak rolls, chicken parm rolls and garlic bread- top notch on everything. Truffle pasta was a favorite- ended with tiramisu and chocolate mousse which both were amazing. Will be back!

I had a delicious lunch with 2 friends just momnets ago. We had the O' Sole Mio style large pizza and the sophia salad which we were able to share between the 3 of us. The pizza was the absolute best pizza I have ever had. This man who now owns the restaurant is your chef. So with that being said its safe to assume he has total control of what is being prepared for your table. The ingredients are fresh and of a high quality and so tasty. Same with the salad..., a delicious beautiful salad...., so tasy and fresh. Beautiful pizza and Beautiful salad...., I will be back often and try other menu items. Worth it 100%..., try this place next time you think of having a delicious pizza. Then after you see I am speaking the truth try his other items. My new favorite place is now O' Sole Mio hands down the BEST!

Fantastic! The chef/owner and our server were superb. The chef personally came over and introduced himself. They started our meal with complimentary bruschetta; delicious. My two dinner companions and I each ordered a pasta dish. Portions are huge; could easily be split by two people. We had the orichette with sausage & broccoli rabe, gnocchi sorentino and penne vodka. All terrific! For dessert, we ordered cheesecake, a cannoli and the tartufo. All were solid also. I can't wait to go again and order the pizza. Best wishes for their success!

2nd best pizza in town, which is impressive when you look at the sheer quantity of pizza places around here. The pizza isn't the best part though. Their chicken fingers are so extremely good, I've seen one order get eaten in less than a minute. I haven't been in the restaurant, only ordered out, but I have looked inside while passing by and it looks like a nice place.

Sooooo good! Visited this fabulous restaurant while visiting my daughter at college. It did not disappoint and we will definitely be back. Had the Caesar salad which was generous in size and delicious. Also ordered the chicken bacon ranch pizza- also delicious. We can't wait to visit again and try some entrees. The dishes being brought to surrounding tables smelled and looked fabulous!
