O Talho

"A relaxed restaurant, the name of which (“butchery” in English) says it all, with access via a modern butcher’s shop. Not surprisingly, the menu here is centred around meat and its many by-products." - Michelin Inspector

Years ago, this used to be my favorite restaurant. But when I visited last year, I noticed a drop in quality. I gave it another try today, and unfortunately, the meat was like rubber. When the waitress asked if I liked it and I said no, she didn’t seem to care. On top of that, the champagne was disappointing. In the end, I paid over 200 euros for a meal that wasn’t even good. Definitely my last time here.

Our Uber was late but they were more than accommodating with seating us when we arrived. Our wait staff were attentive, knowledgeable professionals who made excellent recommendations during our dining experience. Rated as one of the best steakhouses in Lisbon, Kiko's food did not disappoint. From the bread and butter, to the ceviche, to the Entrećote, every bite contributed to my finall fabulous meal in Portugal. What a way to end it!

An excellent place to enjoy steak — they were absolutely delicious! The service was also outstanding, with thoughtful compliments from the chef and elegant presentation throughout. The wine selection is impressive, though I would suggest offering a wider variety of wines by the glass, as it’s not always ideal to order a full bottle. Overall, a fantastic experience — everything was tasty, and we left very satisfied.

I appreciate the effort however for the price they have the fame, I expected something much better. The decoration is very nice and overall the atmosphere was super good. The staff was also very nice. The carpaccio was not worth it at all, even though I found the idea of the dish very intriguing the taste of the appearance did not reward. The steak we had looked better than how it tasted and it was extremely difficult to chew. We went there as avid meat lovers but in the end we were extremely disappointed and paid a huge amount of wine. The wine that was proposed was quite good so we enjoyed that.

Google
very good restaurant in Lisbon if you are a meat lover. There’s a deli shop at the entrance where you can buy burgers and some other stuff such as chips and then there’s the proper restaurant. There’s a tasting menu or you can order from the menu. Prices reflect the quality of the meat and service. To try if you are in Lisbon, recommended

The place and service is great experience. Definitely worth trying. Fantastic desserts, good wine and awesome service. Food is good but not the best tartar I have ever tried. But definitely recommend.

Google
The food was OK, pretty average for a steak house. There wasn’t much choice of starters. My big problem was that we had ordered a hurrera steak (like a T-bone). The waiter brought two for us to look at,1.2kg and 1.5kg. We picked the smaller one (there were only 2 of us). When the bill came, we had been charged for a 2.01kg steak. When I mentioned it to the head waiter, he insisted that we had ordered it. So we ended up paying 80 euros (plus service) more. Maybe best avoided.

Google
We visited this restaurant twice already. The food was great but, to be fair, I’m just not sure if has been degrading or not. We experienced a slight decrease in quality between visits. However, it’s still super flavourful and a nice experience to have. The staff is friendly and the space atmosphere inviting (almost like a den). Don’t get me wrong: it’s great…but maybe you can find some place else for the same price with better quality? Either way, you won’t be disappointed if you’re visiting it for the first time.

Yelp
Great experience here at O Talho is Lisbon, especially for meat lovers! The servers were kind, attentive and were always checking on us. Loved the atmosphere! It was contemporary and modern with a funky twist. I had the truffled mushrooms and oxtail tagliatelle which was pretty good, not mind-blowing. I wish I had been hungrier to enjoy it more! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good restaurant specializing in different steak options.

Yelp
O' sooo good!!! This place is great. The service is some of the best you can get shout out to Beatrish! the ambiance was a perfect mix of fancy where you can tell it's Michelin guide restaurant while keeping the same theme of a butcher shop! The food is amazing! No words can describe how good this is but I can definitely say that it was some of the best food I have had period.

Yelp
A must try when in Lisbon! Incredible service and ambience. We came here on our last day of a 11-day European trip. Couldn't have been happier with the meal. Everything from the bread course to the dessert menu is meticulously planned and themed. We had the croquets, short rib pasta, and bruschetta. Pasta was perfectly Al dente and the croquets were perfectly seasoned and fried. Wish we lived closer so we could come here more often!

Yelp
We didn't discover "O Talho" until the second night of our three night stay in Lisbon. I wish we had been able to try all three of Chef Kiko's places. We did the Chef's Tasting Menu and couldn't have been happier. We started with the best Gin & Tonic I've ever had that was made and served at the entrance to the dining room. The G&T was garnished with a flamed rosemary sprig and a beautifully peeled piece lime skin. The menu the night we went included an amous bouche, 3 appetizer tastings, 2 entree tastings and a dessert tasting. The chef carefully chooses these offerings as we were told numerous times by Alexander our server. Every course was spot on and complimented the previous course. The price was a bargain for what you receive. I'm from New York City so I may be a little prejudice, but I travel all over the world and I've never received this quality of food and service at such a reasonable price. This dinner would cost three times as much in NYC. The waitstaff is as good as any I've ever experienced. Alexander knew the ingredients in every plate served, and took the time to explain what we were devouring. It is clear that every member of Chef Kiko's team is well trained and looks at their role more as a career and not just a job. Finally, the atmosphere was pleasant, simple and done with excellent taste. It was a perfect evening. Sorry about the length of this review, but I rarely have as many nice things to say about a restaurant as I do about "O Talho".

Yelp
My friend and I visited O Tahlo for lunch. This chic and cool restaurant is a pleasure to spend time in. Meat is the staple of this restaurant and it comes from the butcher's shop attached to the restaurant. We were served by a great waitress who knew her stuff inside out as well as made sure we felt looked after. We each had the same dishes and, as you would expect, there was a lot of meat involved! To start, we plumped for Portuguese meat croquette with mint and chorizo mayonnaise, "Cevice Puro" with mashed sweet potato, seaweed and tiger milk and the Mexican foie gras with avocado, corn tortilla and tomato leaf. This was a great combination, and all went perfectly together. The main courses to choose from made it a difficult decision. We selected three and these were the O Talho's beef tartare with horseradish mousse, chips and shot of vodka, the Korean top blade with rice & soya ball, sauteed vegetables and kimchi and a Tandoori lamb with chutney, naan bread and lentils. Great from the first mouthful to the last. The fact that the chef was able to produce high quality food from around the world shows a certain skill. For dessert, the black chocolate cream with hazelnuts, mango, passion fruit and pineapple in textures was a great way to finish the meal. It rounded it all off and we left completely satisfied. The combination of flavours was finely balanced and tasted wonderful. Try it if you are nearby and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Do NOT come here with a large group. They cannot handle it. Front door staff was rude and, after spending 10 minutes before agreeing to serve our party of eight at 2 tables, the host and hostess walked by and blatantly gossiped about our table and laughed at us. Our server never asked us if we needed anything or checked in with us. We ate at 3 pm and the restaurant was essentially empty the entire time, yet our server only approached our table when he served us food. As for the food, the beef cheek and tenderloin were both delicious. However, we had a gluten free member of our party and were excited to see certain items marked by a gluten sign. She deliberately ordered one without a gluten marker and received a plate with a spread of bread crumbs and croutons. I'm unclear on the logic of bothering to mark items in such a manner if they are essentially useless for people with gluten allergies. The olive oil cake tasted stale and was not worth the time. We ate at their sister restaurant earlier this week and had an exceptional time with impeccable service. This one, on the other hand, seemed overpriced. Would not return.

Yelp
This was one of my wife and me's favorite dinner spots during our vacation. The staff was very polite and attentive to us the entire time. I would recommend you make reservations.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in Lisbon! Perfect for a culinary experience or just a nice (but gourmet) comfort food. It's a little pricey but you're getting a great experience and the staff is very friendly and professional. Go and enjoy!

Yelp
We arrived around 330 Well we threw them a curveball asking for a table of 8. After much wringing of hands in an empty restaurant they put us in two tables. The hostess was a class A bit.. and kept gathering employees and pointing and gossiping. I would have fired her on the spot had I been her boss. She added a very negative tone To my family Ok so we go in . THIS IS A VERY SMALL PLACE. Don't bother bringing big groups you will not be together and the small space just can't accommodate . Discounting our 100% negative arrival the steak staff at the front smiled and welcomed us . The arrival of the bread basket and butter, hummus and ricotta cheese made us happy and we dove in with luster. THe music is annoying and loud and got louder. Bugs flew around us and my husband saved them in his drink. The tables were not clean nor was my seat. It is quite loud over all. The breaded sausage was hot and enjoyable. My fillet presentation was unusual but the taste excellent and cooked to perfection for three of us. My husband said his lamb with chutney was the best he has ever had. Everyone liked their fillets. The One who had the beef cheeks which he said were excellent Everyone was pretty happy with their meals! Frankly I would go back to the sister place asiatica over this one as their staff needs a lot more training. This is a pricey place but if you want meat this is is it. This is not for snacking One last note As we walked out the surley girl and male host made a wise ass comment about eating there. Come on guys I dropped 300 euros for 8 meals at 330 lm your slow time and you have to be rude! Really??? You are in a service industry !!

Yelp
Came with a large group and the food was great. Everything is top quality and tasted fantastic. I can't remember what everyone got but I know we had a few of the beef tartares, the beef picanha, and the ceviche. Between our group we also got to taste the variety of desserts they offered. All portions for appropriately sized for one. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that for our group service was unorganized. I am well accustomed to more causal European dining but this was not that.

Yelp

Yelp
Great food and moreover , wonderful friendly people serving! Best introduction to Lisbon since my last stay many years ago! Most definitely a place to go to!
