"Oak and Iron, which claims to be Thousand Oaks’ first “craft” cocktail bar as of its April 4 opening date, is another step forward in the revitalization plan of the city’s downtown. Sitting between a salon and a barbecue accessories store, the small bar is poised to be Conejo Valley’s destination watering hole thanks to the cocktail menu designed by bartender Paul Jones. A protégé of Matthew Biancaniello from The Library Bar and Mon-Li days, Paul brings the same style of produce-based cocktails, plus made-in-scratch infusions and syrups. Oak and Iron was started by a trio which includes brothers Jared and Jason Logan as well as attorney Andrew Pletcher, who had most recently served as a Thousand Oaks planning commissioner. Jared Logan, who owns a landscape and hardscape business, oversaw the construction of the bar. Meanwhile his brother Jason, who worked as a garden manager for Oxnard Union High School District’s farm-to-school program, is in charge of sourcing local produce to be used in the bar’s various drinks. In the main bar, Oak and Iron offers about a dozen classic cocktails and their variations, from a Flor de Cana daiquiri to a Bees Knees made with locally sourced honey. Cocktail mavens who have flocked to the bar since its opening are treated to a smoke show with The Smokey Edward, an Old Fashioned smoked with wood chips. A smaller offering of specialty cocktails like Curious George is made with banana-infused whiskey, lemon juice, and IPA syrup offer a glimpse of what is offered at the more exclusive downstairs speakeasy, named Oak and Iron: Reserve. Reserve offers three seatings every two hours from 4 to 10 p.m., and reservations are highly recommended. They accept walk-ins depending on availability but note that seating is strictly on the two-hour mark. The Reserve experience is meant to be a more intimate experience with Jones, and offers a small menu that rotates every few weeks. The latest Suntory-focused menu includes a sipper made with ramen-infused Hibiki whiskey, sesame syrup, and seaweed bitters. To prepare the drink, Paul worked with a local ramen shop to create an ultra-concentrated shoyu tonkotsu broth. While the Reserve is small, Jones is happy to make cocktails beyond the menu and has a variety of infusions he’s working on. He may offer a Negroni made with Cocchi vermouth amaro infused with oolong tea, or a more adventurous Cheese Danish in a Glass that uses Dolin Blanc infused with parmesan cheese. Oak and Iron is open Wednesday to Saturday from 4 p.m. and on Sunday beginning at noon. Oak and Iron: Reserve is open from Thursday to Sunday." - Fiona Chandra

Google
Great drinks and whiskey selection in a great atmosphere. It’s a nice little taste of LA or NYC in the sleepy town of TO. Been here a few times and the staff is always on point and welcoming. If you don’t like crowds, I would suggest going during the week Monday - Wednesday for a better vibe and more industry folks. Best selections are whiskey and Gin for the drinks and wish they would scale up a bit on the top shelf vodkas with a Belvedere or Chopin to boost the quality of the menu. If you’re up for adventure, let the Bartenders know your likes and tastes - then sit back and get a custom concoction - the true test of a great bar & bartenders 🥃 Only downside is there isn’t any food or snacks which would be a nice addition to this little gem.

Google
Have come here so many times and always have a good experience. The bartenders are always cool and usually pretty funny too. The drinks are great, with so many options. My favorite is “dealers choice” which is basically giving the bar free reign on creativity, where they just whip something cool together. I’ve been downstairs for the speakeasy section as well for a tequila tasting. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try

Google
Really good vibes at this local bar and I appreciate the attention to detail and quality of the menu. Great spot to meet with friends while enjoying a delicious drink. If you’re the type of person who appreciates a thoughtfully crafted, balanced cocktail this place is for you! Definitely recommend the Three to Get Ready if you’re into refreshing, fruity vodka cocktails.

Google
We drive all the way from Santa Barbara for Brandon’s gin drinks- the high tea and dealers choice “consolation prize” are unreal!! Please please please Oak and Iron- make these two drinks regularly featured! A wonderful bar with fabulous cocktails and great service 🙂

Google
I had heard about a speakeasy-like bar in Thousand Oaks and am very pleased to say… “wow,” this place is great. The bartenders are fantastic and the drinks are as tasty as they look… if you’re a fan of a smoked old fashioned, their “Smokey Edward” is phenomenal. Enjoy!

Google
Oak and Iron is the best place in town for cocktails. Everything is made in house and is sourced locally. So many amazing cocktails here- definitely plan on taking an Uber.

Google
What a great hidden gem in thousand oaks . The esthetic is top notch and not to mention the service was impeccable. Krystal not only knew her stuff but she would go into further detail about all the drinks that were offered. I was really impressed with her recommendations for each person's drink preferences at our table . It's always great when you can make a connection with your server and she without a doubt delivered.

Google
Have been looking for a mixology bar for years. This is hands down the best bar I've been to. If you're looking for a real mixologist who can create a drink specifically to your taste, this is the place for you. This is my favorite place to get a drink. Everyone is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.

Yelp
From the moment you walk in to the moment you sit down you feel welcomed. Great ambiance, service well it's GREAT, great drinks and bartenders are social and informative about your drink. Not to mention that they can whip up a drink for you, all you have to do is tell them your alcohol preference. Definitely heading back for another visit soon! Cheers!

Yelp
The few places in town that have kept their cocktail prices under $20! They have excellent cocktails here and they rotate their menu which is nice. They also have wine and beer. They have woodfire pizzas on the menu, but also allow you to bring outside food. We typically order from Bad Ass Tacos next door. The place is intimate with upper and lower bar. Small parking lot in the back and a few options on the street in front. It's a great place for a date night and meeting friends for drinks.

Yelp
Update! (and it's a good one!) I threw my husband's big 4-0 here a couple weeks ago and I couldn't have been happier in terms of how everything turned out! I had worked with Melissa (catering director) on all the details for the big day, she was so patient with me and answering all my questions. We rented out the entire top and bottom bars from 6-9 (we paid a deposit and then the rest of the bill was paid via cash bar by the guests). I was able to decorate the space, brought a beautiful cake, we had a person make a charcuterie board on site, there is a pizza guy that normally comes to the bar (on non-event days) and cook individual pizzas... we were very happy that we gave him a call for the big day; the pizzas were delish and an absolute hit! Finally, they allowed us to put together our own personal playlist via Spotify and play it in the bar. In terms of the staff that night... absolutely fantastic! Carlos specifically was so nice in helping me move around tables and chairs, he helped with the music and even had this wonderful idea of playing Star Wars films on the TVs (the birthday was Star Wars themed). I am horrible with names, however everyone else was just as helpful and friendly, watching the front door to make sure only guests were able to come into the bar, helped me with clean up, offered to help me with taking my bags to my car etc. etc. If you were ever having second thoughts on trying this place... don't!

Azucena P.

Yelp
The vibe in this bar is exquisite. It's small but the bartenders are friendly and willing to offer suggestions. They have a speakeasy/wine bar downstairs. We tried two off the menu drinks that were incredible. The bartenders were accommodating to my allergies and made the drinks perfect! Make sure you try the all too well and the lavender haze.

Richard S.

Yelp
Great place to stop in for a drink or to meet up with friends. Nice atmosphere. Delicious craft cocktails.

Darlynn C.

Yelp
Cool little bar. You can bring food in which is a nice perk. Service is good - the cocktails are tasty but pretty pricey. We checked out the cellar but it wasn't open for service. Would be a cool spot for a birthday party. The smoked old fashion is a fun thing - but it does smoke up the whole place!

Courtney F.

Yelp
Solid date spot in the area or just a place to get amazing and fun drinks. The people here are so nice and some are down right hilarious so it's always a good time. They have a downstairs that they host tastings and other event so ask about it if you're interested. My favorite drink order is the dealers choice, which essentially is them making me whatever they feel like with my taste preferences in mind. It's always a fun surprise

Diana N.

Yelp
Absolutely outstanding experience here. Bartenders are knowledgeable and experts at what they do! Drinks are amazing. There was no food although I hear sometimes they do wood-fire pizza on certain days. The atmosphere is perfect, they have a speakeasy although we didn't get a chance to check it out, we'll be back

Angela D.

Yelp
I haven't been back here in ages and I wanted a good drink so I came back and it was great! I brought in food from Bad Ass Tacos and got 2 Eres Fresca. The mezcal drink was delicious and strong. My friend got something else and she loved her drink too so she ended up ordering it twice. All the drinks coming out looked so yummy and the specials concoctions they have on their special drink list are so innovative. I didn't realize they offer happy hour so if your around, it's $5 dollars off certain cocktails. $12 bucks rather that $17+ after hours. Parking is terrible so come early before the crowds.

Megan G.

Yelp
Still the best speakeasy bar in town. The "3 to Get Ready" & "Pink Paint Brush" were solid vodka based drinks, but don't be afraid to dip your toes into their extensive whiskey selection!! Feel free to bring any food you want to eat here. Service is amazing as always. Cheers!

Chelsea R.

Yelp
"treat yo self!" If you want some amazing tasting cocktails or drinks, look no further. They are on the pricey side, but hey, you get what you pay for! This is not like the other typical bars around the area that are filled with young college kids, rather it is more of an intimate elevated experience with dim lighting. The place is very small, so I wish it was a bit less crowded.

Blaise H.

Yelp
Phenomenal atmosphere, service, and drinks! The diversity of drink options is amazing as well as all of the different food vendors they have. There is an upstairs area as well as a downstairs speakeasy that can also be rented out for private parties. One time I even grabbed tacos from BadAss tacos next door and brought them over to enjoy with a drink. The options here are plentiful and you truly can't go wrong. Last time I was here (yesterday), I ordered the "three to get ready" and it was great. It was refreshing and balanced. I highly recommend this spot.

alexys j.

Yelp
Well priced drinks perfect ambiance for any occasion. Amazing service with special events on the weekends.

Matt P.

Yelp
Been wanting to come here ever since it came up as a Speakeasy during my search. Finally made my way here last night around 9pm on a Saturday. I was able to find parking right out front, but there's a parking lot in the back. Walked up to the front door and asked what the wait time was for 2. 3-5 minutes later, we were told there were seats at the bar downstairs. Didn't realize there was a downstairs and later found out that this was the Speakeasy. There's about 6-7 chairs at the bar, with 2 tables of 2 and 2 couches that can probably fit 7-8 people. We were greeted by Brandon and another bartender that I didn't get her name. Ordered the Somewhere in the Middle and Winter. Both drinks were good and tasty. For my second drink, I asked them to come up with a drink using the smoker. It consisted of mezcal, lime juice, simply syrup & basil. It was basically a margarita, but was still good. I like how they were so accommodating and was able to come up with a drink to my preference. Price wise, it comes out to about $18-$20 a drink. I also liked that Brandon was able to provide us with samples of their liquor to see if we like it in the drinks. The only thing that I didn't like is because it's such a small space, it can get very loud. I just wished that the people there could be a little more considerate about how loud their voices get. The music was good, but hard to care a conversation if the volume was too loud. One thing to note is that the Speakeasy downstairs is only open on Fridays & Saturdays. There is also a vendor that sells personal sized pizza on these nights. I love that since they don't sell food here, you can bring in any food you like. Definitely will be coming back here in the near future. Just wished that it was closer to home.

Yelp
I had seen this place every time I went to Bad Ass Tacos but hadn't stopped in. My niece is visiting from Chicago to take care of me after a fall and a fractured knee! One early evening she suggested we get out of the house for a little bit so my daughter who's a whiskey drinker suggested another place and I said well why not try something that 3 of us could enjoy. I don't care for whiskey! We decided on Oak & Iron!! I'm glad we went, we got there early so not too many people at that time. The place is not very big but it has a great bar and a downstairs room for a large group. Erika was our server and she was very knowledgeable about what's available, what's tasty and she gave us a run down of the different seguidores available. I tried something different every time I'd order and the last drink we had Erika surprise us and she did not fail! It did end up getting full after we had been there for about an hour. I can't wait to go back!!! Check this place out.

Yelp
LADIES AND/OR GENTS!!! https://facebook.com/events/s/wcdk-roller-derby-recruitment-/854668516371159/

Leneice G.

Yelp
Love this place. Perfect date night. Dim atmosphere. Bartenders are helpfand friendly. Drinks are amazing. Im a gin person and their "Saturn" cocktail is a must try.

Beatrice H.

Yelp
I really shouldn't write this review, so Oak&Iron can stay hush-hush and only be frequented by spoiled entertainment snobs like me, who frequent the "crème de la crème" But I am breaking my own rule, because this place truly deserves the recognition! It is simply a great honest bar. The speak-easy downstairs has the feel of George Clooney's private hangout or a friend's living room. The service and drinks are made with just enough love, so men can still feel tough and girls sexy. So what can I say... amazing. But - Let's keep it a secret !!

Mel H.

Yelp
Small venue...but super cool. The drink menu on the main floor has very good and unique cocktails. They also have beer on tap and a selection of wines. So it is truly perfect for your entire group (even have mocktails on the menu for your DD or friends who don't drink). Downstairs is a speakeasy and Sunday-Thursday Club 14 wine pours. Charlie and Lauren are so knowledgeable about wine and offer blind wine tasting. If you are a wine nerd or just fascinated with wine knowledge...you need to pop down there.

Lissa G.

Yelp
Cool spot for some serious craft cocktails! Carlos was friendly and helpful. As many have said, yes, the drinks are pricey, but you're getting quality craftsmanship here. Also, come during Happy Hour (5-7) and you can get $2 off select drinks. The One Hundred & One was such an interesting drink! Mezcal, Rum, Habanero, Coconut, Banana, Sesame, Black Pepper, and Orange. Carlos also made me a delicious Spicy Watermelon Mezcal as a Dealer's Choice. Super tasty! Downstairs looked very cool and we may have to return to check them out one evening. Grab some tacos from next door if you're hungry!

Deanne H.

Yelp
Want the best cocktails of your life!? This is the place! Order from the expansive menu including seasonal options. All cocktails are made with fresh ingredients and look like a piece of art. They have an option as well for "dealers choice" and the bartender will ask your preferences and make you a cocktail based off your details. Prices are very fair for the quality you receive. Bartenders are very skilled and pay attention to every detail. This is a perfect place to get together with friends, coworkers, or date nights. All menu items have allergens listed. Lighting is dim but not dark. Music playing but again not too loud. There is a downstairs area too with another separate menu and available for private parties. Cocktail recommendation: Three to get ready

Patty T.

Yelp
What a great way to kickstart the night! We came here for a quick drink and really enjoyed our drinks. I had a custom drink that started out more like a negroni but they added some blueberry liquor and it was a perfect balance. We also ordered an old fashion, I loved the way they "smoked" it at our table. Parking is not kind and the lot is tight and full so be prepared and patient getting in and out. The bar itself is tiny and if you choose to sit outside you can view the cars on the main street drive by. They do have a room downstairs that they call a "speak easy", it too is small and quaint.

Elle F.

Yelp
Where I go when I want to treat myself to a fancy a$$ cocktail made by people who know and appreciate spirits. The vibe is dark and intimate, with the smell of smoked wood chips occasionally wafting through the space as the bartenders smoke cocktails (this is a plus IMO). They don't have any food on the menu, but the Friday I came for a Smokey Edward (old fashioned), they had a vendor selling pizzas. Badass tacos is also a few doors down. On days with nice weather, I think it's actually entertaining to sit outside and watch the traffic on TO Blvd. Plus it's easier to hear conversation because the inside can get crowded. And this is the only minus in my book - seats can fill up quickly since the space is so small. But don't let that dissuade you from stopping in!

Noah M.

Yelp
Really cool hidden gem with good drinks. Service was stellar, notably the bartender Patrick who really went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Overall really cool vibe with great decor, will be back asap.

Kristina E.

Yelp
Such a wonderful local cocktail bar!! We enjoy coming here for casual date nights or meetups with friends. The drink menu is fantastic and varied, with seasonal drinks rotating in so there are new items throughout the year. The bartenders seriously know what they're doing and the drinks are always above expectations. The space is very cool and swanky feeling, with mood lighting and high top limited seating. The downside is that it's a small space and doesn't regularly serve food- although you can bring your own food in and eat it there, and they do actually serve pizza at least one night a week now! And the pizza is really good. They also do private events in a cool event space in the cellar. Definitely worth a visit!

Shauna M.

Yelp
Amazing and creative beverages are provided by friendly, helpful staff. We enjoyed the ambiance and felt very welcome.

Heather R.

Yelp
Strong drinks and great atmosphere for a chill date night. Great service too! Be prepared may have to wait as it is a smaller place.

Rick S.

Yelp
Great energy and ambiance. Drinks taste great and look awesome. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommended.

Teri W.

Yelp
Really great drinks, good vibe & excellent service. Junglebird was top notch. Smoked drinks were really interesting.

Marie H.

Yelp
I wanted to surprise my Husband because he really likes whiskey. We walked in and Peyton the bartender was so welcoming. He had so much knowledge on the whiskeys and the establishment in general. It was so clean the music was at a level where you could hear it but, it was not insanely loud. We ordered a pepperoni brick over pizza that was amazing. I think we found a new spot! Thank you Peyton!

Laura P.

Yelp
Nice little bar with friendly staff. Definitely a good spot to go for a craft cocktail or fancy drink but prices are on the higher side for those drinks. Cool little speakeasy downstairs as well if upstairs bar is full. We enjoyed hanging and trying a few different cocktails. Place was busy at 9pm on a Friday so we actually had to wait a few minutes till people left to get a few spots at the bar. We didn't mind at all and will be back!

Jim G.

Yelp
What a cool find in TO! These guys take their cocktails seriously and they know their stuff! Great spot to have a cocktail or two and if hungry you pick up some tacos next door. My favorite cocktail was the Longshoreman. HH from 5-7 $2 off select drinks. Parking in the back lot. Also if in on a Friday or Saturday check out the down stairs bar. High end whiskeys down there and a cool setting too.

Summer W.

Yelp
This place is such a gem!!! Every time I come here the bartender Ryan always makes me the tastiest drinks! The place is beautiful and is a wonderful place to hangout with friends.

Corinne G.

Yelp
This place is bougie in all the right ways. The bartenders know their stuff and can mix you an incredible drink and the vibes are impecable. The only downside is that two drinks will run you about $40. It's wildly expensive but if you're looking for a nice night out this is absolutely the place. The ice is even stamped! Stamped ice! So fancy!

J O.

Yelp
Super cool place to grab a drink and have some good conversations! The place is cozy and smells of cedar. The waiters are attentive and the drinks are amazing. There's no food but there are restaurants next door. Great place for pre or post dinner drinks.

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Came here for drinks, and it's a beautiful venue with great service. I had a Brown Butter Manhattan, which was a unique and delicious twist on a classic drink. Probably one of the top 5 drinks I've had this year, top 10 drinks in my life. The drink is limited to 40 servings per week as the butter is made in house, so get one if it's available! Totally worth it.

Avery E.

Yelp
The cocktails were unbelievably good and the place is so cozy!! The people working are so incredible and knowledgeable and made some of the best drinks I have had. Can't wait to come back.

Melissa L.

Yelp
Cute bar! The name says it oak and iron , the inside of the bar is a beautiful display of oak, the specialty drinks are truly delicious. I had the tequila asesina drink , strong! I only needed one. Service was ok, not the most friendliest bartender I've had but not the worse.

Joubin M.

Yelp
What of the best hidden gems around. Great drinks. Great service. Great ambiance. Highly recommend this place.

Paige F.

Yelp
Lovely spot. Service was very nice and attentive. The drinks were delicious but definitely priced for sipping. A fun spot to listen to some music and enjoy a fancy drink.

Marcia G.

Yelp
My friend brought me to Oak and Iron pre-COVID for some drinks and they were all fantastic and I really loved the vibe of the place and the way the front opens up for fresh air. So when another friend needed a place to celebrate her birthday, I suggested this bar and she booked the downstairs room. The nice thing about renting the downstairs is that you only have a meet a minimum bar charge which was very reasonable. The space is not huge but it will fit about 25-30 people comfortably, but I think you're allowed to invite more than that. There are 2 couches, a couple of high top tables and chairs and then chairs all around the bar. We had a bartender downstairs who made some pretty great drinks. I would ask for something with vodka or gin and he'd just make me a tasty drink and my hubby asked for bourbon type drinks. It as fun to just make it bartender choice but try some new cocktails. There is a place you can grab Mexican food next door and we were able to order and bring it back downstairs with us to enjoy. Great drinks and good music. If you're looking for a place for drinks or a party place to rent, check Oak and Iron out!

P C.

Yelp
As the TO locals know, the options for cocktail bars are very slim. Oak & Iron is one of my favorite spots. Service is always quick, and the drinks are delicious. We stop in here often after having dinner for a night cap and we've always had a good experience. Love the little "speakeasy" downstairs!

Brighette R.

Yelp
They have a great selection of drinks! It's such a cool and chill bar. Caught in the Rain is one of my favorite drinks. They have a speak easy downstairs where the bartender creates a unique drink based on what liquor and flavors you enjoy the most. The staff is very friendly and helpful!

Jake K.

Yelp
Probably the best Old Fashioned I've ever had was at this place. Mobile pizza cooker guys were out front baking personal pizzas and those were amazing too. Bravo.

Rebekah H.

Yelp
Amazing place to grab a cocktail before or after dinner. I would recommend it for a date night as well!

Nicole T.

Yelp
My boyfriend lives in Thousand Oaks and the night life to include bars is absolutely dead ! But this place exceeded my expectations and now has a little place in my heart . Drinks were absolutely delicious & the vibe was cute and intimate. The service was really good as well , very attentive. We will definitely be back

Lorrie A.

Yelp
Drinks were cold , delicious and served super fast. Was not aware it was a speakeasy so I do look forward to going back.

Assaji A.

Yelp
Amazing cocktails and ambiance. The vibe is amazing. I just wish they had a jazz musician in the corner of the room. This is really a best of TO.

Nely P.

Yelp
Drinks are great, the ambiance is awesome. There's a speakeasy downstairs at the end of the week. Limit 2 drinks per hr due to not serving food per CA law though. Not too many beer options either fyi.
