Chicago Bars With Friday Vibes All Week Long | Eater

"If you find yourself on Chicago’s bustling North Shore, Oak at the Glen is the place to be. This convivial spot is the perfect gathering place for friends and family to come together around a good meal with options like free-range cheeseburgers, a classic Reuben, and a beer-battered fish fry. To unwind in style, order a Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon, which brings together botanical notes of cassia bark, lemon peel, and even grains of paradise from West Africa. It’s a global sipper for a decidedly local spot — an ideal mix for your “Friday.”" - Ariel Kanter

My boyfriend and I stopped in for an early dinner last Saturday after spending the day in Chicago and checking in on our daughter with her grandma in Glenview. We were just looking for somewhere nearby with good food and hopefully no long wait—and this place delivered! I had the hot honey chicken sandwich with fries, and it was so good—especially after running around in 95° heat all day. The food hit the spot, came out quick, and the vibe was great. Their menu looks like it leans heavily into burgers and whiskey, which I definitely want to come back and try since I’m a big fan of both!

Went for a friend’s birthday celebration & none of us had ever been before. The service, drinks & food were phenomenal. I got the Oak Branded Burger and wow, that’s an item that’ll keep you going back again and again if you like burgers! All of the food items in the group were incredible though. Prices are a bit on the higher side. Worth checking out!

Google
The restaurant was solid and has a variety of food options. You won’t be blown away but also not disappointed. A notable item was the fried pickles, which was unique. I ordered a white wine but came in a smaller glass compared to the other customers in the dining room. It was a considerably smaller pour that others around me and I was confused why they didn’t serve it in a wine glass. Aside from that, the service was great for our larger group. Overall, this place is a safe pick if you’re going for conversation first, food second :)

Google
The food is incredible. The quality has always been consistent over the many years I have been a customer, and every burger I've ever had there was cooked perfectly. The staff are all super friendly and accommodating, this is absolutely a place I would recommend.

All: The Oak, owned by Rich is awesome. Its Oak branded burger is literally the best burger around. Made w black Angus, short rib and brisket. It is amazing. This view is shared by many. The short rib w risotto and Jambalaya is also wonderful. The rubbed non breaded wings and jumbo shrimp wrapped w crispy bacon are delicious. Truly the whole menu is stocked w delicious meals such as the salmon, salads and truly pick anything and you will not be disappointed. Additionally, Rich has a catering service. We have been to a couple parties and the scallops, pasta and chicken was scrumptious. Paul Wolf

Google
Toyed with giving four stars but only because there’s no online reservations system which seems antiquated in 2023. We booked a reservation for my husband’s birthday on the phone but when we arrived, they were just using a paper and pen calendar and had no record of our reservation. Luckily, they were able to seat us within five mins at a lovely high top by the windows so it all worked out and thus, the five stars. After the initial minor issue, everything was perfect. Our server was efficient and cheerful. Our drinks came fast and we’re delicious. Husband had an old fashioned and I had a rye Manhattan which was amazing. Had considered a beer and they had a large selection (probably 20 on tap) but as it was a celebration, and we love bourbon, we got the cocktails. We started with salads (crisp and refreshing) which appropriately came first, and then had entrees. My husband made several alterations to his meal and they all came out exactly correctly. He had the cheeseburger but with turkey instead of beef, and no bacon. It was moist and flavorful. Fries are crinkle fries - crispy goodness. I had the chicken dinner which was cooked nicely with good flavor - slightly sweet but not overly. Coleslaw is thinner than some places which I found refreshing. Nice mashed potatoes. Good sized portion - took home half of it in the Tupperware I brought purposefully for it. We were too full for dessert so apologies but didn’t even see the dessert menu. And the atmosphere is lovely - we love bourbon and wood so the decor was exactly what we like. Can’t wait to be back and try other things.

Google
Great place to watch games and have a fantastic burger, fries and drinks. Nice ambiance and good energy. The fries are probably the best I've ever had to be quite honest. From the bartender to the waitresses, to the food, this place is first rate! They all continually asked if we needed anything and are just wonderful people. Highly recommend the fantastic burgers and fries.

Google
Oak's main attraction is their whiskey and whiskey-based cocktails. It's a good place to go for that reason. As a restaurant, it's similar to most ~$25 a plate places. Good food with beautiful presentation. I was a little surprised that their beer menu was so generic. I would expect them to have beer that spent some time in a whiskey barrel or something. But the draught beer is sold in 16 or 20 ounce glasses at very reasonable prices. My only camplaint is the noise level. All the surfaces (floor, walls, ceilings) are reflective. There's nothing to absorb the din of people talking so you find yourself yelling and the person sitting right next to you. I would recommend Oak to a friend.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the service was fantastic Would definitely recommend the oak branded burger Hidden Gem and one of my top 5 burger spots in Illinois

Yelp
It's hard to believe this place has been open six years and we've only been recently. It's at the end of the Glen's main retail and restaurant area and it's a terrible location for traffic because nobody's really walking down there. The restaurant next-door changed hands at least three times so I always fear these places aren't going to make it. Anyway, all that being said, we were very pleased with our meal. Service was helpful professional and friendly.

Yelp
1) The air conditioning is obviously broken or simply not turned up high enough to cool the dining area. Excuse given was the "open kitchen"-- well then close it up and install proper ventilation. 2) the white fish was described as lightly breaded white fish sautéed in butter lemon sauce"-- what came out was deep fat fried fish so overcooked it was not really edible--you couldn't break through the hard crust without hammering away with the knife. No butter lemon sauce--just a wedge of lemon on the side. The green beans were good. Side salad was ok--nothing special. We won't come here again.

Yelp
You know you're at the right place on a Friday night around 7 when you enter and you can feel the vibe and excitement in the air - especially when the tables and bar area are full! Luckily we called and made a reservation so we waited just a little bit and were taken to our seats by the owner. Also good to know this place was featured on Turano Bread's Tik Tok. Solid. Now let's get to the food and service. The staff here is very great. You've gotta love when the people who serve you have a smile on their face and make you feel welcomed. This place nails it! They have an epic list of beers and whiskeys to choose from - something for everyone. And if you just want a ginger ale - they've got that and coke products too. We started off with the appetizer of buffalo wings. They were cooked perfectly - had a crisp outside and juicy inside - with a nice glaze of buffalo sauce - very mild too - the ranch here also seems homemade, it's very good. For the entrees we each got a burger which is what they're known for here. We got the branded oak burger because of the meat blend it has and boy was the burger tasty. It did have a bacon jam type condiment on it that was a bit too sweet for my taste and I wasn't a fan of the Wisconsin cheese blend- just me, I prefer a slice. The other burger we got which was a crowd favorite at the table was the hangover burger. The egg and crispy onion straws bring this up an extra notch! Lastly, we dove into a Nashville hot chicken sandwich and when they say hot they aren't lying! It was good but I felt like it should be saucier but the Nashville hot was more in the breading. Get the tater tots extra crispy you won't be disappointed! This is a must try!

Yelp
I was craving a cheeseburger on a Friday night (how many of my weekend nights go, honestly), so we decided to come here for the first time. In one word, the food was average. I got the 3 Alarm burger with the grilled jalapeño peppers, pepper jack cheese, and crispy onions on it, and it wasn't too spicy. The patty was a bit dry. We enjoyed our dinner outside, and the waitress was really nice. The kids' meals are $9 and come with a drink. Checked the box on visiting this place.

Yelp
Great experience there last night.  We were a party of 8 cousins who were there from 5-8 on a Wed night.  Our server, Sophia, was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive to just the right degree.  Even though we were there for 3 hours, we never felt rushed to place our orders or to move on.   All our meals were delicious. When she overheard there was an anniversary at the table, she said she would like to bring us 2 free desserts.  They were huge desserts, more than enough to share 8 ways.  Thank you, Sophia, for the desserts and for your pleasant, gracious and professional hospitality.

Yelp
Swung by after work for a quick dinner. Got the double cheeseburger combo. It was all fresh and the bun did not fall apart as in other places. Fries were hot and salted well. It's just a straightforward, no-nonsense burger place.

Yelp
Warm cozy interiors, dark furniture, great lighting, very good ambiance. Drink: Enjoyed the mango peach mojito though I barely drink. Very good. Food: Ahi tuna appetizers were delicious & a good size serving. It was cooked perfectly with onion toppings, with aioli & tortilla chips to scoop it up. Braised short rib & 3 blend mushroom parmesan risotto. Highly recommended & a must try. So creamy & melt in your mouth braised ribs, a dish fit for any foodie. Jambalaya had a good taste but it came out watery....sausage also not the best. Not a ton of seafood... I would pass on this dish. Overall, large sized delicious food with perfect ambiance. Worth a visit!

Yelp
I recently dined here with my toddler boys and it was nothing short of perfect. The restaurant was very festive (decor) and the overall vibe to match it. I had made a reservation just earlier in the day and was fortunate to snag a table for 6:45 on a Friday night. We were seated promptly and provided booster seats for my boys along with crayons and paper to color on. The kids menu is quite broad but we stuck with their usual Mac and cheese and Tenders with fries. Kids meal comes with sodas or chocolate milk for a $2 up charge. I wish they had juice instead of the soda option. My boys really enjoyed their meal and that's always a win when they eat well. I personally ordered the Oak old fashion made with their Elijah Craig barrel pick and the higher proof made for an excellent drink. I totally recommend it. I also got their Friday fish and chips special which comes with coleslaw. They use haddock and it was perfectly cooked and not greasy. I was in London recently and this was better or equally good as some of the fish and chips I ate there. Our server was very attentive and overall staff very friendly. I would totally come back here again when in Glenview over the bigger bar across the street from them.

Yelp
My favorite impossible burger locally. The patty must be hand formed as it's thicker than the standard one you buy in a package. Fresh lettuce and tasty bun. Great attentive service and the interior style is of an upscale bar. If burgers are your thing, and you want a nice night out that a little casual, but nice enough to go with the wife, this is a strong option.

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed with my experience here. They were moderately busy for a Saturday with what seemed to be only one waitress and one bus boy. They were running around the entire time and could have used some help. Very grateful for them! We ordered a few burgers, fries, Brussels sprouts, and a Cesar salad. Unfortunately , not a single item was a hit. The burgers were bland, the Cesar salad was watered down, the aioli was drenched with pickles, and the Brussels were too oily with no taste.

Yelp
We stopped in at Oak at The Glen to have dinner before a movie. The restaurant took over the space previously occupied by Ted's Montana Grill and the dining room looks much the same. The service was friendly and efficient. The menu offered many interesting options. The brussel sprout appetizer from the specials menu was good. I had the cheeseburger which was also good. It comes with cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato and of course a side of fries. We didn't try their bar drinks but they have an extensive offering. Overall if we are in the area we'd stop in again.

Yelp
Went here last night. The atmosphere was great. Loved our waitress Anna. She really hustled. Our food was great and she checked on us often. Rich the owner was super nice and came over to talk to us with a hot pretzel which was the best I have ever had !!! We had a variety of food. Salmon BLT, chicken Caesar salad, chicken and fries, jambalaya and a patty melt. Prices were good. I would recommend

Yelp
SERVICE: *** Our server gets five stars. But overall only 3 because you can't make reservations online but have to call. It was husband's birthday so we made reservations, but when we arrived, they had no record of the reservation. They still were able to find us a table at a highboy which I think was just a first come first serve area but we actually thought was the best seat in the house. So it worked out but it wasn't smooth. Still, our server was friendly, speedy, and great overall. ATMOSPHERE: ***** I loved the dark wood and whiskey vibe. FOOD: ***** Everything from drinks to salad to entrees was quite good. Nothing to rave about, but what it should be for elevated pub food. Definitely worth going.

Yelp
We were warmly greeted by owner Rich as we came in, and Hanna as we settled into our seats at the bar. Music was playing in the background, the lounge area was bustling with conversations and the Maple Leafs were beating the Capitals on the TV screens. Life is good. On this visit we started with a cocktail - a CC Manhattan for my love and a Sapphire Martini with blue cheese olives for me. Drinks here are always excellent! For dinner I tried something I love to order at a Mexican restaurant, but had never had at Oak, Steak Quesadillas. They were fantastic - and I think the best I've ever had! I'm looking forward to my leftovers tonight. My husband is a big fan of the Honey Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which we hear will be added to the menu soon. Also, we both prefer the relatively new version of fries much more than the previous crinkle cut ones. Our wine picks were a Cs Substance Cab and a Chalk Hill Chardonnay. It was time to update my pictures from the prior ones, which were mostly from Covid takeout years. It seems like Yelp is now only allowing a maximum of 10 photos so I had to delete the original ones. These are better anyway.

Yelp
It was fine. Nothing special, just a nice burger joint with lots of options. It's a good place to get a decent meal and the drinks were really good. The service was also speedy and attentive.

Yelp
I went up to Northbrook to take some newborn photos of my daughter and afterward we were famished. So as we headed home we stopped at Oak, located at The Glen shopping center in Glenview. When we were there it was an odd hour so was no one else was (which I was fine with because I'm still not super fond of eating in restaurants). We ordered the crispy Brussels sprouts for an appetizers and it was pretty good. I love Brussels sprouts just roasted but adding bacon always makes them extra delectable. I ordered the Blue Cheese Apple Bacon Burger which was really good. I am unsophisticated so I only eat burgers well done and they cooked it perfectly (you'd be surprised how often they come out not fully cooked). The bacon was delicious too, thick and again cooked through. The blue cheese was a mixture of blue and cream cheese which made it soft and creamy. Overall it was a good burger, though I could only eat half of it. It came with fries which were ok but not the best I've had. So the food was good, but the real star is the service. Our server, Joe, is maybe the friendliest server I've ever had in my life full stop. He is either truly one of the most upbeat people on earth or he is fantastic at being able to put on a good face. He seemed truly delighted in talking with us and helping us and made me believe his glee. He chatted with me and whilst I'm sure he was going for a bigger tip, I thought it was sweet when he said to my daughter that he hoped she changed the world, haha. It felt like just a natural extension of his cheerful persona. I'm pretty sure he even clapped once when we ordered something, maybe dessert. I would return here if not for the food just because or server put me in such a good mood from the moment he introduced himself.

Yelp
I thought food was ok nothing better than any other comparable bar in upper class neighborhood. Service was slow
google avatar

Jaime C.

Yelp
We love Oak. It is always great food and consistent. Tonight we went in for the fish fry and it was delicious! The portion of the fish was just about the full diameter of the plate. The beer batter was real good and coated just right. Service was also fantastic!
google avatar

Marcus D.

Yelp
Nice looking place in the Glen with significant number of whiskey to choose from. Ordered an impossible burger with fries and an ice tea, then a pour of Penelope Architect which was really good. Prices of the pours are reasonable. Great service too. Will be back.
google avatar

Meggan A.

Yelp
Service and ambiance were great. Loved our waitress. Food was mediocre and lacking flavor. Burger was overcooked and food overall was under seasoned. Not worth the cost.

Yelp
Brazed Beef Short Ribs are incredible. They have an incredible bourbon list with food made like a Michelin restaurant.

Yelp
The food that emerges from Oak's kitchen is stellar - freshly prepared and generously portioned. We've sampled several menu items over past visits. The jambalaya is the best I've tasted outside of 'Nawlins. It's also a place to enjoy a good craft beer. Sadly, though, the service here has been consistently less than stellar. This time, it descended to the sub-basement of any acceptable standard. When our party of 4 reminded Ms. Attitude (for the second time) to serve our soups and salads before the entrées came out, she was annoyed. We might as well have been talking to the wall because the runners brought everything at once. To add to our frustration, some items were missing or wrong, and the soups were barely lukewarm. One side salad $2.50 upcharge) arrived in a large bowl while another side salad (same $2.50 upcharge) was inexplicably one-third its size. When we told the runners what was missing or needed to be remade, they responded by shrugging their shoulders and walking away. When we pointed out the problems to our indifferent and unapologetic server, she just stood there gaping like a fish, so we asked to speak with the manager. Upon getting an earful from us, the manager summoned the owner. The owner was sincere and apologetic. He had the kitchen more-or-less straighten out our dinners (which took a while, but everything was very good), discounted the bill, and brought a comp dessert for our table to share. But then, we had to get Ms. Attitude to correct errors on the check. Though we're reticent to 'stiff' hardworking servers, we left what we felt was an appropriate tip ... nothing.

Yelp
Great hamburgers, excellent chicken breast sandwich, delicious tater tots and a friendly staff. Nice outdoor dining as well.

Yelp
When visiting Chicago, met some friends for lunch at Oak at The Glen. The food and service were excellent. I had a Swiss mushroom burger. My friends had a Reuben sandwich and a hot brown sandwich. The restaurant wasn't crowded and there was ample parking.

Patti S.

Yelp
The owner is amazing and greets everyone at their table at some point during your meal. The staff is great and the food is outstanding.

Dan E.

Yelp
We went for a late lunch, so not too crowded. Service was good. Ordered the Totchos and they were very tasty. Then burgers and sandwiches for main course all cooked as ordered. Bacon added to entrees was excellent.
google avatar

Barb Z.

Yelp
Food good, service good and restaurants nicely located in the glen. Would recommend for quick bite.
google avatar

Yelp
Very mediocre. The food wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. I had the jambalaya. It was fully, but needed more spice. My wife had the salmon salad. Salad was great. They make their own dressings in house but the salmon left something to be desired. I wasn't drinking but they had a great whiskey selection. Service was tip top. Cool bar and they had March maddness going.

Shelly Q.

Yelp
Today we had Easter Brunch at the Oak. Our family was completely impressed. From no lines due the scheduled flow of people, the food and drink and the staff. It was a relaxing atmosphere that we all enjoyed. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We love dining here in the summer when patrons set-up. Great sandwiches and burgers. Nice kids menu for my kiddos.

Yelp
Really great place for dinner. The food was amazing, the waitstaff was great and the prices are reasonable. Will definitely be back. #iraeats #iraeats1

Yelp
Service was horrible. The bus boy told us that our service was also the manager. What a shame. We loved the food but the service was so bad and she was so miserable that we will never be back.
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Had a nice relaxing meal after a long day. Tried my go to burger, the mushroom and Swiss and it did not disappoint. It was done just right and the seasoned fries paired well with a tasty IPA beer. The owner stopped by with a nice greeting, which was a nice touch. I must add that the bourbon selection is amazing! I would definitely come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Decent spot. Waitress wasn't the most welcoming. Food was average, I thought it was good but my entourage wasn't impressed. Personally, I would recommend.

Yelp
We decided to try this place the other night. I liked the ambience here. It fit the Irish pub vibe. The service was good as well. Our waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and made some suggestions. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It was good, but not great. Overall, it didn't really have a lot of flavor. I thought it would be saucier and spicier. But it was neither. Kind of upsetting for a $20 sandwich. My wife ordered the Shrimp Poboy sandwich that was on special. That was pretty good. I wish I would've ordered that. We also ordered the Totchos (tater tot nachos). Those were pretty good. But the portion wasn't that big for $15. But they were really good. Overall, I don't know if we'd come back here ... It would have to be sporadic and we'd have to be starving and in the area. I'm actually giving 3.5 stars out of 5.

Yelp
Glenview why do you continue to make me regret dining in your town. So if you read my reviews I went to Paulie's in the Glen a few weeks ago. I had the option of Paulie's or Oak. Today I decided to try Oak. I wasn't super hungry but the menu looked appealing so I figured for lunch, why not. The hostess mumbled and was inaudible and I had to ask her to repeat what she was saying. She was young, and I realize that kids these days just don't engage in conversation well. I suppose they should hand you a phone when you walk in and text you to talk. But I digress; outside tables were full aside from being on the street so we opted for indoor seating, a booth. The specials looked good. She ordered the Pear & Brie burger with Cole slaw and I opted for the dry rubbed wings and a classic wedge salad. The serve was uninvested in our table and made herself at home leaning on the booth backing as she asked for our order. Didn't ask if we wanted anything to drink. Annoyed. Food came out quickly. The wing's advertised that they were a "full pound" - look at the pic. Does that look like a pound to you? The blue cheese dressing had broken or was old, see the other pic by the onion strings from my wedge. Salad was fine. It's a wedge, not much to screw up there. The burger was given a complete thumbs up. Cooked properly, juicy, you could taste the pear, and they Don't hold back on the slaw, I'd say that they give you a good cup & 1/2. During our conversation the server came back and inserted herself into our talk. Rude, especially because she payed no mind to us otherwise. I'm hoping this was a fluke. The interior is great, lots of televisions. Nice place to watch a ball game or anything else whilst having cocktails. Stay away from the wings, not worth it.

John K.

Yelp
This was my first time coming here with the family and wasn't disappointed. We came around 5:00 just in case to avoid any dinner rush. We were promptly seated. Our server was very friendly and courteous. She took our order and drinks, It came out promptly. She made sure to check in periodically to make sure everything was okay and made sure our glasses were filled. Food was far better than expected and very delicious!!! Service was excellent......we will be back.
google avatar

Gerry G.

Yelp
Wow, my only thought is that this would be great food if I were sentenced to a long jail sentence and somebody brought me here on a day trip. The server while friendly, was overwhelmed with too many tables assigned and therefore ineffective. Beer was poured almost an inch from the top of the pint for whatever reason. The food was overcooked, under salted and weirdly loaded with sugar. I would never return and have no idea what people see in this soulless joint. The brick chicken certainly never saw a brick in its preparation. The chicken was covered in some nasty sickly sweet syrup and the meat was dry AF. The chicken that came on the salad certainly had never been salted and had the texture of shoe leather.

Yelp
Highly recommended. What appears to be the usual oak wood and whiskey American restaurant is actually much better than the chain version many people expect. This is NOT a chain. The owner minds the store -- nearly always a good indication in my experience. Our first visit, he was out of town, but our second visit, he came to our table, was engaging, friendly and attentive. Speaking of attentive, our server was excellent. Many choices on the menu, including remarkably good chicken fingers, homemade chicken soup, several variations of burgers, and many other options. My brother had the short rib with risotto. He enjoyed it. I had the jambalaya. While not quite authentic, it was delicious and I would order it again. Vegetables were not overcooked. Two kinds of french fries/fried potatoes; both are very good. 300 kinds of whiskey (including many bourbons); most of which are lesser known labels that the owner has personally selected and tasted. He is very familiar with all of his menu, and he is very proud of it. He should be.

Yelp
The Oak at the Glen is situated among many other stores and restaurants in the Glen Tower Center in Glenview, IL. I stopped in there for lunch with customers recently, and even though nothing really stood out, nothing was really wrong with it either. The menu featured pretty basic, contemporary American food along with a nice selection of Bourbons and a full bar. The inside space was contemporary, but inviting, and our service was decent considering there was one server taking care of up to 10 tables. We started out with the Totchos - which was like a loaded tater tot appetizer, and it was good, but not great. I think the issue was that there were too many strong flavors competing for dominance.. the bacon and ale cheese sauce would've been enough, but then you add pico de Gallo, grilled jalapeños, Parmesan cheese and chipotle aioli and it all gets to be too much. We also ordered spiral Oak Creole Fried Pickles, and they were really good. The presentation was really cool as they were on a stick, spiral cut, breaded and fried. They were really crispy and served with ranch dressing. I ordered the Patty Melt - which was on special that day, and again, it was good. Didn't rock my world, but it was as expected. However, the house cut fries that came with it were really good, and I almost wish I could've had those for an appetizer! One of my customers had the Louisville Hot Brown Sandwich and the other went with the Oak Branded Burger. Both of them seemed pretty satisfied with their meals. Now, the pricing was a bit steep for this type of restaurant, but given its location, it was comparable with surrounding establishments. I'm just not sure the Oak at the Glen does enough to guarantee it's longevity with so many other dining options available in such a small geographical area... especially with the Yardhouse being a block away - and being a similar, but more established restaurant. That being written, the food and service were both decent, and if I were in the area, I might give it another shot - especially for dinner.

Yelp
Ambience, service and drinks were good. We only had cocktails which were very good and the brownie dessert which was very good as well.

Yelp
Visiting Chicago area for daughter's college graduation, this came up as a great venue in Glenview. Very large selection of bourbon. Like, VERY in all caps. Not so much with Scotch, Gin or Vodka - so be aware if you're looking for a martini or single malt scotch. Front desk was having trouble handling demand - Everyone gets frazzled from time to time, I get it...but we were seated 45 minutes after our reservation time, while other similar sized parties were seated ahead of us. Ouch. But when finally seated, food was great, drinks were generally good, and service was friendly and knowledgeable. We had a wonderful time. It was also pretty loud in the place, making it hard to pick up more than 80% of what the person seated next to you was saying - so be aware of that as well. But still, even with the small niggles, I'm giving the place 5 and would visit again; next time we're in Glenview!

Yelp
Surprisingly good. Loved my Cabernet and the ahi tuna salad. Service was great! Our waitress was stellar and very knowledgeable. Would go back. Very noisy, which removed a star.

Yelp
The food is nothing to write home about. But you're not likely to come here just for the food. The bourbon. OMG the bourbon. Their list is extensive. But that's easy. Their knowledge rivals that of places I've visited in Louisville. I never have the same one twice, and I rely heavily upon the team to guide me. That's why you go here.

Yelp
The food was just OK. Nothing special with their burger and their shrimp and grits cannot be ranked as one of the good ones I have had. My husband liked their Negroni even though he's a whiskey guy he did not order any whiskey. I had a New York sour and I liked it.

Yelp
Located at the Glen, this welcoming, spacious and tastefully decorated place to dine is exceptional. Greeted by the owner himself, our first impression was warm and hospitable. The menu is just the right size in terms of options, offerings in appetizers, mains, salads, and a few sides. We had seared ahi and something called Totchos or something like that; tater tots smothered in salsa, cheese, and goodness. I could have made a meal out of just those. The Ahi was good too, seared just right and accompanied by an Asian sauce and some greens. For the main entree I had the 3-Alarm burger which promised to be a bit spicy but I found it to be on the mild side. My friends all had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and each raves about it. I didn't try it but will save for the next time. I chose to sub onion rings for fries for a few bucks more and was happy I did; not to say the fries are not good but to express how delicious the onion rings were. Also had a couple of great tasting local beers - Old Nation Hazy IPA and one from the northwest called Maine Lunch. The beer menu was solid. Finally, restrooms were clean and the service was excellent, definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner!

Yelp
The menu is amazing, I had the hangover burger and it was sooo delicious. Also have gotten the fried pickles many times and they are consistently delicious!! Their ranch is homemade I think and it is yummy! The servers are so nice and helpful

Yelp
Today, we tried somewhere new near our hometown. Our tastebuds lead us to Oak at The Glenn. Upon entering, we quickly noticed the trendy, comfy wooden interior. The music and sound is at a very nice level where you do not have to struggle to talk to your friends. The service was excellent . We were immediately sat in a booth upon our request. The waitress was very outgoing and quickly brought us water and asked if we would like to order a drink. They have many beers and wines on tap... but their bourbon (hence the name) cocktails were EXCELLENT! My bette half had the Halloween bourbon that had hints of ginger and cinnamon... and it was smooth and delicious! I had The Oak. Both cocktails were very smooth and generous pours! They are $15'ish though, but you get what you pay for! For dinner, I had their BBQ Bourbon Burger cooked medium. This burger was awesome! They cooked it perfectly. The beef tasted of good quality, and the bbq sauce was very very good! It is a heavy burger with all Dixon's on it (onion strings, cheese, bbq, etc). You can almost share it among 2 people. She had the Louisville Hot Brown open faced sandwich. It comes with not at sauce, applewood bacon, bourbon turkey, etc... and it was tasty but she said she probably would recommend something else. Overall, The Oak is a little pricey but ambiance and food were very very good. Their service was fantastic, the food was fantastic... but it was very heavy, I'm wouldn't recommend an appetizer with only 2 people buying entrees unless you want to bring half your meal home in a bag! Check The Oak out... it's worth it!
