Dropped in for some Happy Hour drinks and snacks. The atmosphere is really cool and it was super busy, bit it was a Saturday evening. Bartender was great and explained what was specials and how they worked. Got a couple of glasses of vino and some chips and salsa. Very good and within walking distance of our Airbnb. Great location and lots of seating.

Upon entry there were no signs or hostess to let you know if you were supposed to wait to be seated or where to place your order, then it took a while to get the attention of the bartenders (which is apparently where you place your orders). Lovely ambiance/decor, live music was delightful. However, AC was blasting and made it uncomfortably cold so we opted for the shared patio which to our dismay smelled like cigarettes because of another patron smoking. Menu was also very limited in both food options and cocktails. Cocktails were great. Food had great flavor however literally everything but the hotdogs and potato chips were too salty so it overwhelmed the wonderful taste of the brussel sprouts, the sweet potatoes w/queso, and the gumbo fries.

After a 15 hour drive down from Chicago to New Orleans, this place was a sight for sore eyes! Our wonderful Airbnb hosts suggested this local spot, which was walking distance from our apartment. We had delicious wine, marinated olives, and a delicious cheese plate! The atmosphere was chill and inviting. It was the perfect place after a long drive. We will be back!

Neat little bar along oak street with great local beers. Decent whiskey selection too, but their drafts are their strength. Nice outdoor seating too, which now has a roof I noticed. Nice little local bar.

Great wine bar with excellent small plates. Outdoor patio features weather proof TV’s and smoking area.

Awesome wine selection and a great atmosphere. I love the way the wine list is broken down and helps with the selection of a flavor profile you'll enjoy. They also serve beer and cocktails, so it's great for groups. Menu offers sharable plates, a delicious burger and much more. Live music is always an added plus for a good time! Service is friendly and knowledgeable. I love everything about this place!

I love the ambiance... it's summer in south Louisiana and the flies are a problem however, I love the fries and bubbly on Thursday!

I've been wanting to check this place out since they combined the two spaces under one ownership. We sat on the Oak side which is a nice space but lacks character, white walls, no artwork besides the few stretched pieces of colored canvas to absorb sound. They offer a nice selection of wines and bubbles by the glass along with happy hour specials. I did wander over to Ale at one point to grab a beer which you can add things to your tab seamlessly from both establishments which is nice. The staff was very friendly and informative. The food was good not great, menu isn't all that interesting and was surprised they don't have any salads on the menu which would be nice with the dense offers they have on the menu. Overall it's a solid 3.5 stars for me. Nothing about it makes me want to rush back but I like the concept.

This place was such a vibe! We came on a Wednesday night and they had half off bottles of wine! That already deserves 5 stars on its own lol. But it's a cute spot to hang out with the girls and just sip and be cute. Definitely will be back. Also, Matthew at the bar is always so sweet and nice!

I've been dying to go here! I had no idea it was two bars in one. Both are very cute, but the Oak side is larger with a lot of comfy seating and a big bar it was half price bottles of wine when we went which you can't beat! We shared a bottle. The bartenders were really helpful.. tons of recommendations. We had just eaten so we didn't order food, but the options looked great! Charcuterie to tacos to hummus and more. I can't wait to go back and order some food!

I can't give this place five stars because I did not eat here. We stopped for a drink while we were out walking but that being said. The staff and the place was fun. The menu looked delicious and all the food that we did see come out. Looked amazing. A large open area and a space bar make it very enjoyable also if you're out and about recommend stopping in. Let me know how the food is.

Great wine bar with great food! I wish we had more places like this around the city. It's a perfect bar with lots of wine on the menu! The bartenders are nice and helpful and all the wine and champagne is delicious. They have nice outdoor seating on the side and sometimes they have live music. The place is a little too loud though sometimes for the live music. I had tried some of the tapas on the menu and everything is so delicious. Very surprising how delicious the food is!

I had a horrible experience at Oak this past Friday. The bartender who approached us was extremely rude, and this isn't my first rude interaction with him. Let's start with the fact that every time I go to Oak, he forgets where my eyes are, if you know what I mean. When I asked about ordering a Pornstar Martini, he snarked at me and replied, "What's that?" in a rude, demeaning tone, and as I started explaining, he cut me off as soon as I listed off the first ingredient... Not sure of this bartender's name, but he has long wavy blonde hair. If you are looking for a quality establishment where you will be treated with respect and where bartenders are willing to get creative to make a cocktail you love, I recommend Cure, and added bonus, the food is fabulous. I hope the management swiftly acts on this bartender's behavior. Oak is a beautiful place, and I've enjoyed coming here, but after the service I received on Friday, I will not be returning. Absolutely unacceptable.

Oak is the BEST! I actually discovered this place years ago when I was invited to Ale...I ventured over to the other side and never went back! It's so darn cute in Oak; the feel is chic with dim lighting and candlelit tables, yet welcoming. I always enjoy sitting at the large marble bar...so many opportunities for delicious wine selections and craft cocktails! I'd say that the food options include "small plates". Nothing too heavy or filling, but enough to nibble on. Also, I always enjoy their bartenders! They're knowledgeable and can whip up any custom drink you're interested in (such as my pictured sugar-free sazerac shot!). This really is a great sort of tucked away spot with feel-good vibes. I always go there when I'm feeling Uptownish but not feeling a heavy crowd. Highly suggest!

Bartender with the beard is super cool. Highly recommend the fish if they have it(I think it was a special though). Rotating food menu with extremely reasonable prices. Also some of the cutest decor in town.

Great atmosphere and intelligent bar tenders, place to be. Very eclectic vibe, great wine selection as well as cocktail list. I feel like my favorite part was the wine and their selection of ST JAMES CHEESE COMPANY cheeses. Very happy to be here and will continue to visit.

I happened to be going out of town for a while, so my girlfriends and I decided to get together here for happy hour. I kept putting this place off, but I am SO glad that I finally made it. Not only do they have great happy hour specials, everything also tastes so good. You have the option of a few different wines for $5 and some small plates as well. Let me just warn you, the buffalo cauliflower is going to change your life! We stuck with prosecco but I am sure that all of their options are fabulous. The decor is elegant with plenty of seating so you can come with just your S.O. or your whole crew and you will definitely have a place! Our waiter was very accommodating of our large group while people came and left at different times. We can be extra sometimes, but he handled it so well and made sure we were always comfortable! I won't wait as long this time to go back for another happy hour!

Well Blue Oak BBQ is really good! I enjoyed my rib plate with the roasted Brussels and roasted garlic Mac and cheese. My daughter ordered the oak burger which was huge. I couldn't pass up the dessert of the night which was banana pudding! Oh I must mention that this was a to go order. I thought that it might be a bit of a wait , so I went to the bar and ordered a drink while I was waiting ... the thing is , the food came out before I could even pay nevertheless drink my extra dirty martini! That's awesome service if I say so myself ! Everything was delicious! Oh I forgot to mention the cracklins! If you like cracklins ... go get some! They are delicious !

I magically stumbled upon this wine with a friend and we simply couldn't resist the big sign outside advertising their Thursday happy hour (all night!). The deal is $20 for a bottle of Prosecco and a big platter of fries, which was perfect for two. Usually the happy hour is 5-7pm, with $5 wine, cocktails and snacks. Their wine selection is wide and the wine cellar well stocked. We ambled in only to discover that they were also having a wine tasting that day so we hit a double whammy. The wine tasting was open to all the patrons in the bar, so we got to taste and learn about some new wine which was fun. Don't know how often they have events like that, but it seems like they do it often. The interior is bright, cool and modern and it exudes a certain cool vibe. The service was good and friendly and we needed up having a great time! All in all it was a very good evening and a fun find!

This place will be the go to lounge for my friends and me. It's located on Oak street so it has a fun vibe, but it's away from the busyness of downtown NOLA. I ordered the oyster tacos and a Tom Collins and both were delicious. The tacos were really spicy but I love spice so I was in heaven. They had live music and she was singing some of my classic faves so we really enjoyed ourselves.

loved this place, very spacious and friendly service. A great list of cocktails and a full bar. The only reason why I have this place four starts instead of five is because I have yet to try the food. Once I do that I'll update my review.

Every time I come to New Orleans, it takes me hours to try to figure out where to eat and drink while I'm in town. With so many places and so little time, it's always a coin flip. Luckily, my friend Carolyn made the decision this time and it was a great choice! Oak is a sweet little wine bar on Oak uptown and is precisely my kind of place. Especially because on Tuesdays all night (and every other day from 5-7) they have $5 wine, $5 small plates, and a $5 signature cocktail - YES PLEASE. The wines and cocktail change regularly, but when we visited, they had a bubbly option and a couple of each white and red wines and the signature cocktail was a Prosecco with st. Germain that was delicious. My suggestion to you is to ask for a taste of the wine first if you are not familiar as one of the reds I tasted, even after the bartender explained the flavor profile, was not my cup of tea. She very generously allowed me to get something in its stead, but honey, you don't wanna waste! As far as food goes, you MUST have the pretzel and beer cheese because the beer cheese is life changing and you must have the hummus. If you are splurging, go for the St. James cheese tray too. Will definitely be back at Oak soon!

My college's alumnae happy hour was at this bar and it was great spot although finding parking at 5:30 pm on a Friday was a challenge. I parked in the neighborhood behind oak street and just walked to the bar. The happy hour special was $5 on select wines and daily cocktail, as well as $5 for food, humus or fries. A friend told me the humus was bland, so go with the fries. I will be back!

GORGEOUS interior, but great furniture isn't what's going to make me come back to a wine bar. Happy hour: wines are well priced at $5 a glass. My friends and I had 4 of the wines listed on the hh menu. two reds: the pinot was light and uninspiring, and the other was downright terrible. chardonnay: meh a fruity red sparkling wine: tasted like juice, definitely for your friend who doesn't like wine. Moral of the story: you get what you pay for Other notes: Charcuterie ($15) sparse and forgettable

Love this place! Extensive wine list and lots of good snacks coming from the kitchen, though I am partial to the fries and the buffalo cauliflower. I also love their weekday specials - $5 wine and apps all night on Tuesdays, half off bottles on Wednesdays and $20 for fries and a bottle of pro secco on Thursdays.

Oak, located on Oak street, is what I'd call a high-end bar. They serve food, which is good, please don't assume it's not. The hummus and chicken wings (yes they are amazing) pair with their many cocktails and wines. It's a very cozy place that I really enjoy an adult beverages at happy hour with my lovely and friends.

Love this wine bar! Extensive wine list. They have great a happy hour and daily specials (Tuesday: happy hour all day, Wednesday: half off wine bottles). They have a great outdoor courtyard with tvs for sports viewing. There is a connecting beer bar across from the courtyard.

Went here for a last minute happy hour to try something new. The place was cool. I felt like it's kind of fancy or more so a nice after work place. We got the hummus plate and the buffalo cauliflower that were on happy hour special. Definitely would go back for a work event or so but feels too formal to just hang out with friends there on a typical day.

Oak is an upscale bar on (as the name points to) Oak Street in the Riverbend neighborhood of New Orleans. On this visit, we met some friends for after-dinner drinks and had the fortune to be there when the establishment was having a complimentary wine tasting. Product: Drinks of all types and light snacks/meals. I didn't have any food on this visit, but the drinks were fine enough, though a bit pricey, and it was a plus to be able to try the wines being poffered for tasting. 4 stars Service: Counter service at the bar. I'm not sure on how food was ordered, but we did sit at a table, and those who has ordered food had it delivered to them. I had the pleasure of meeting the proprietor of the establishment on this visit; he was friendly. 3 stars Facilities: A wonderfully refurbished building right on Oak Street. The inside is spacious, with vaulted ceilings. There is an alleyway with outdoor seating which connects to a beer-themed bar owned by the same person (I did not go in that bar). Seating includes stools at the bar and long tables with chairs for larger groups and those wanting to sit down and eat or drink. Artwork and other decor was slick and fit the minimalist motif of the establishment. The bathrooms were spotless. 5 stars Bonus: Occasional wine tastings---contact the business to find out when they'll have their next one. They also regularly have a small music ensemble performing in the evenings. Overall: A really nice bar for before/after dinner or an event. I'd suggest it to anyone going out in the Riverbend for an evening, and looking for something a little more elevated in style over the Maple Leaf. 4 stars

I am glad New Orleans has this cool wine bar/cocktail lounge. Its design and decor are modern and stylish, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The staff is awesome and knowledgeable. It's perfect for a date night or even drinks/small plates after work. I went on a recent Tuesday and discovered their great happy hour prices- $5 glasses of wine, cocktail of the day, and snacks. My friends enjoyed the wine selection, while I had the cocktail of the day. And we shared the $5 snacks (fresh cut aioli fries, and the buffalo cauliflower). Everything was on point. I'd give it 4.5 stars, only because of the acoustics; that's the only con. It can get loud when there is a band performing and/or if the place is full. But there's a nice outdoor patio, where my friends and I often sit when the weather is nice or if inside is loud. I always have a good time here and you will too.

Wine menu offerings are good and priced well. Had Malbec and it was well balanced. No merlot for ma femme, but settled on a blend - Cab/Syrah & food offerings we ordered were creative and epicurean: Pommes Frites with aioli and Hummus with roasted vegetable. Santé Don Merlot

The food here was marvelous--so that's why it gets four stars. The service abysmal. I honestly think the waitress was high or something. It was so bad that it was ludicrously funny. Late coming to us, forgot water, didn't know what one of the drinks on the menu was, left our menus at the table, forgot to come back to the table after we got our drinks (had to hail someone else to ask her to return), got two of our appetizers wrong (but they were all scrumptious so what the heck). Funny thing was she was so...I don't know, childlike (read high)... that we didn't take offense. But it was the first time ever I tipped 10%. I just couldn't bring myself to tip more. If I could have tipped the cook instead, I would have.

So me and a girlfriend of mine were looking for wine on a Friday night and Yelp led us here. I'm so glad I didn't read the reviews before I came cause that may have steered me away. Cute little spot on Oak street with outside seating and the inside interior is so chic. White EVERYTHANG! Definitely girly as one fellow yelper mentioned. Now wine was on our agenda but the beers and cocktails caught our attention more. And the band...let me just say it wasn't overly loud as some have previously mentioned. They were great! Played covers of Anita Baker and some local Ricky B (Shake it for Ya Hood)...lets just say the music snob in me was in heaven. This place wasn't pretentious at all. No one was overly dressed looking to catch a sugar daddy or anything like that. Just groups of people mingling&talking and enjoying the band in between sets. Maybe I picked a good chill Friday night. I'm glad I did. I'll definitely be back for the half off bottles of wine during HH. I'll have to update this review once I can try the food...kitchen was closed when we arrived :( Overall great experience! It gets added to my after work drink spots for sure.

We were in the neighborhood looking for a nice place to have a glass of wine or cocktail. At first we sat at the bar to look over the wine list and was greeted by the bartender. She was obviously on some sort of sedative as her movements were not aligned with her speech. I was amused just watching her so it added a little lagniappe entertainment. She was friendly though and suggested we sample a couple different wines since we couldnt decide. After ordering, we decided to sit at one of their cozy tables off to the side. The clientele was probably between 19 and 24 which made me feel old but the atmosphere is so relaxed and refined that it remained a place I wanted to stay. I'm not sure I would drive out of the way to return but if I were ever in the area, I wouldnt mind having another drink here and maybe sampling their small plates.

This is for you classy folks! You know the ones who want a simple glass of wine. Light snacks, light drinks, light everything. Cozy spot it shares the patio with Ale. So if you're with friends or your significant other he/she wants wine because they're high class. But you prefer beer & the bar scene. Meet in the middle! Oak & Ale On Oak. Your spot! Oak offers free wine tastings too, this time it was on a Thursday not sure if it's a recurring day or time. Which ever, it was worth it! All those classy folks, see you at Oak!

Wine Wednesday... that should say it all. Half off bottles of wine (less than $70 though). Boom! Get your own bottle. C'mon, it's only 4 glasses. If you can't handle 4 glasses, bring better company. I joke! This place is very awesome. The decor is very clean, refreshing and welcoming. The wine menu is above average (ok in the french wine selection), and the accompanying food was stellar. The fried brussel sprouts and the cheese plate is a tried and true order.

Checkit: another wine bar review! I know I sound like a broken (drunken?) record but, as they say, you write what you know and I know me a good wine bar dangit. Oak fits the bill when way up in the Riverbend. The space is a departure from the smaller, darker wine bars that populate this city (and that I populate) and it's quite lovely. They somehow maintain this fairy light glow with the lightly-colored walls and furniture illuminated by pretty light fixtures. I'm gonna say it: a more feminine vibe, but that doesn't mean a man couldn't - and shouldn't - feel comfortable here. And on that note, the crowd isn't primarily female, so there's that (calling all the single ladies). The crowd is very Uptown -grad student rather than the undergrad ubiquity at places like Monkey Hill and St. Joe's Bar (and Delachaise on weekends). Mature and polite young people for the most part and god, do I sound like my Great Aunt Tillie right now. Very different from the all-ages scene at my beloved Patrick's Bar Vin. Staff is top notch at Oak! Although the place was bordering on very busy when we arrived, we were greeted and seated, but then opted for the circular bar that is awesomely situated in the middle of the room. Both bartenders were extremely friendly and attentive, even asked us if we wanted food. Sadly, I had just consumed enough Japanese food to feed a small village down the block at Chiba, so all I could do was admire the brief menu that promises tasty bites of exquisite things like frites and cheeses and olives. Oh and you small plate haters be rest-assured they have full entrees, too. Wine list is as you'd expect: lengthy! I've been on a bubbles kick again and they've got 'em. A good selection of reds by the glass but definitely not as extensive as Delachaise & Patrick's. If vino ain't your thing, they have beer and a full bar. One minor thing: not sure about the acoustics of the room. The band playing was just too loud for the otherwise delightfully hushed setting. A sound person would have rectified the situation (I could be wrong but it seems like the band did their own sound and that is never a good thing. Take it from someone who worked in the biz for years). I'm looking forward to returning to Oak. I should remark that I came here on a Thursday night and it was the final frigid night of the week, yet it was still comfortably busy. Not sure if it's packed on the weekends, but I wouldn't be surprised, after all this is Oak St, quite the happening Uptown corridor. I've been kind of allergic to weekends in most cities these days because I can't deal with crowds. Hey, Monday's the new Friday for cranky types like Yours, Truly!

I am a huge fan of Oak after only one visit. It wasn't too long ago that I wouldn't have been caught dead in a place like this. Luckily for me, I have embraced my inner fancy pants, and now get to enjoy places I would never have tried pre-Yelp. Oak is very white inside. When I first walked in I was taken aback by the bright clean look. I am not sure why, but it works well to make the place feel even more fancy. The large bar was well staffed with extremely friendly bartenders. They didn't mind explaining types of wine, or constantly refilling water glasses. There was a very good selection of wines by the bottle and glass. While not cheap, prices were very reasonable for the by the glass selections. I tried a couple of different glasses, but particularly enjoyed the Riebeek Cellars Cabernet. If I remember correctly, it was $7 or 8 a glass. On the night I visited, there was a live band. My only complaint is that they were a bit loud, making conversation difficult. This is a great venue to watch a band because it is far away from the touristy areas of New Orleans. I would much rather watch a show here than at a downtown club. I like Oak, a lot. I could see where it would be far less fun if it were packed with people, but when I visited, it was nearly perfect.

This is a little pricey for my college sized wallet, but still enjoyable. They have a great selection of wine, and even better wine flights. I didn't get a chance to try one of the flights, but definitely affordable and good selection. I'll be trying that the next time I'm there. The bartender really knows how to make a good drink. I don't remember what it's called, but it's their version of the old fashioned. A little strong, but still yummy. They have outdoor seating along the sidewalk, great band playing, and was really nice to my group of happy hour people coming and going. I'll be back with my financial aid check.

I don't usually drink wine or fancy cocktails, but if I'm in the mood for either this will definitely be the first on my list for the neighborhood. I honestly know nothing about wine. It's red or white, right? Sometimes it's pink. Is that because you mixed them together? I don't know. So when the waitress approached, I just said, "I'd like something red and...like...medium." Is this a wine term? Apparently, because she recommended something (Malbec maybe?) and it was delicious. My friend arrived and, after a glass and some chatting, she wanted a cocktail. She got the Lagniappe--not on the menu anymore but they still make it. I think it's vodka-based with some blueberry something-rather, which was pretty delish, but I got a Peach Gin Fuzz and it was GAAHHHH so good. Again, not a whole lot of experience with cocktails other than a heavy-handed whiskey and coke here and there when my football team loses, but this one was definitely worth coming back for. The vibe is pretty nice as well. Kind of fancy for my taste, but nothing that's intimidating. I went here once when there was a live band and they were WAY too loud, so I'll definitely avoid that.

Through a bizarre set of circumstances that I dare not elaborate on, I found myself in the unique position of dining here several nights in a row. The only things more extraordinary than the circumstances were the food and service. Though for most of my meals I ordered Gnocchi and a side salad, I occasionally had some of the hangar steak they had on offer. Both entrees were divine. My waiter, Adam, was funny and attentive, and the bartender, Sean, was friendly and knowledgable -- he taught me about a Bramble, which is now forever going to be my go-to drink when I need to sound like I know about drinks. Did you know that it involves Chambord? And that Chambord is a berry liqueur concoction? It's all true, and I owe it all to Oak for teaching it to me! I also got to meet the owner, Pat, as part of my many Oak excursions, and he was an absolute delight. Although I think the main reason why one should go to a restaurant is the quality of the food, it always feels good when the people behind it are folks you feel good about supporting. The ambiance is delightful. There's even a small stage for live music. The lighting is cozy, and the acoustics make it easy to hold a conversation. Definitely a great spot for a first date! I'm glad my wild week whisked me to Oak. Try it just once, and you might find yourself coming back again and again as well!

Extremely well decorated place. Spacious and elegant inside. There's live music at night, which may or may not be your thing. I personally found the live singer to be too loud, kind of overpowering the atmosphere inside. But there are tables outside on the sidewalk as well. I can't say anything about the mixed drinks as I had beer. This is not really the type of place I'd go out of my way to go to, but it's a nice place to visit with a group if you're in the area or if you're waiting for a table at Jaques-Imo up the street.

Wife and I had dinner and drinks here. Excellent selection of food with all of it tasting great. I got the burger with onion rings and fries and my wife a had a multitude of small plates. Excellent service, food comes out quick, and food is good! Would definitely go back. My only knock is that it's a little expensive.

Went for happy hour on Friday with another couple. The discounted wine selections by the glass were excellent. The discounted food items were limited to French fries and hummus. The fries were superb. We tried a number of other small plates and they were excellent. Service was very prompt. The distraction was the decor. A number of chairs were peeling imitation leather and the tables were bare, without covering. The decor was meant to be simple modern, but it does not work. The bar is attractive.

Perfect place for a late night bite to eat and catch up with friends over a glass of Pinot Noir.

We were staying in a home just around the corner from Oak and wandered in a couple of times. Each time was an excellent experience. Drinks were skillfully prepared and service was fantastic. The decor alone make coming here worth it. It's a well done mix of old and new French style. We came back another night for the wine tasting and that was fabulous as well. They do a $5 cocktail of the day and you really can't go wrong. We consistently saw the same bartender who remembered us each time. We never ate here but the food looked quite fabulous.

Just had Oak at the recommendation of our AirBNB host. The atmosphere is cool. It's hooked on to the sister Ale house via a cool shared patio. The wine list is extensive, and the live music was good, albeit a bit loud. We opted for the eggplant bruschetta (amazing, especially if you like goat cheese), shrimp tacos (delightful with a slight kick), brussel sprouts (likely the best I've had, and shockingly, my boyfriend's favorite part of the meal) and the lamb poutine (interesting combination but the taste wasn't my favorite). We ate around 9pm and by the time we were finishing, it was getting fairly crowded with what seemed like a college crowd. Not sure it would be our scene at night, but the service was good, wine was delicious and the food was tasty. Plus it was just a short walk from where we are staying.

Been here a few times for happy hour. Friendly staff. Buffalo cauliflower is amazing and good drink specials. Lovely decor.

Okay. So you walk in. The place appears to be nice. Then you start to look around. Deflated balloons on the ceiling chairs scattered all over the place and not tucked in. Oh well. You sit down. Ask for a cocktail recommendation. The server has none. Out of the hummus you want. Order the cheese plate. Get drinks. Drinks are decent. Fresh. Good. Server drops cheese plate. Gives no description on the cheese or accompaniments. Doesn't refill water. Mediocre vibe. Mediocre food. Shit service. Drinks decent.

Solid spot for a glass of wine or small bite either before or after dinner. They also play live music on the weekend which is a nice touch.

Service was a little unpolished, but this place has potential. The combo with Ale next door is great, so you can hang out in the courtyard and both beer-lovers and wine-lovers can rejoice. Food was mediocre, however. Fried Brussels Sprouts were good, and the regular fries were OK. But poutine was a travesty that embarrasses New Orleans and does not deserve the label poutine. I don't expect perfect poutine here, in the same way I wouldn't expect a piece of decent fried catfish out of a food truck in Ontario. But a food truck in Ontario wouldn't be dumb enough to try to serve fried catfish unless they knew what they were doing (like, they're actually transplants from Mississippi). And I have had decent poutine in New Orleans, so it can be done. Wine list looks good, and the half price bottles (Wednesday special?) is a steal. Happy hour was a little disappointing. $5 options included wines I wouldn't drink, and a cocktail that wasn't much of one (liqueur poured into champagne, which I do at home on lazy Sundays).

Have been and enjoyed my service at the bar. But after tonight we will not be back to Oak. Service was too slow, and first server seemed annoyed to have to wait on us. There was only maybe 2 other tables there, and we have simple orders/requests. Once he was bored we had a different server. without notice, which is fine but I typically tip both servers when there's a shift change that I'm in the middle of. She was polite, and tried to smile but I'm sure we were the awkward ones because our intial server was so bad. I had a long late day at work and would have stayed for a couple glasses of wine but I did not feel welcome. I've read other reviews stating casually dress patrons add not be treated with the respect tourists or overdressed folks receive, I'm sad to think that was the case for us.
