Oak Oven in Harahan is like your Italian grandma’s cooking—if she had a wood-fired oven and a black belt in pizza-making. Everything was excellent but……the pumpkin and crab bisque was a total game changer. Cozy vibes, top-tier carbs—wear stretchy pants and thank me later.

Overall, I highly recommend this place. The parking was almost full, and they needed better signage as to which door to enter. Not to mention, their main sign is hard to see from jefferson so you might miss it and have to do a u-turn. But let me tell you that the wait wasn't too long and the service was great and the food was even better! The table bread was warm and delicious. I had a small Parmigiano salad, which I enjoyed. I tried a small lasagna and was well pleased. I rate it up there with the best. My wife and a friend both had the Penne Diavola and at first I thought, is that it? But after I had a taste I was blown away! It was very good! Our other friend had the Beccafico, and she wasn't too impressed by the taste. It looked amazing but lacked flavor and a little fishy, she said. But we all enjoyed our desserts. Their Gelati was very good. The Crema Bruciata was awesome. And my Budino di Pane a la mode was incredible!!

We had an amazing experience. Madison, our server was attentive and walked us through the menu and specials. The wood fire pizza was awesome and so was the handmade lasagna. The bread pudding and gelato was to die for. Great place.

Maybe it was an off night, but we waited an hour and 15 minutes for cold food, and an entirely unappetizing "braised oxtail". We couldn't even get our water refilled. The waiter was very apologetic, almost excessively so. When the food finally arrived, it was cold, so it had clearly been sitting out waiting. Raviolis were short one and cold, fried eggplant had hot pasta, but the eggplant was cold. I ordered the braised oxtail sandwich (oxtails, mozzarella, pimentos, and romaine with a jerk dressing) and asked for it with no bread. Sure, I made a special request, but it seemed easy enough, and the waiter said absolutely they could handle that. They served me some oxtail gravy with a side of fries. When I asked about the other missing ingredients, the manager told me that they could bring them out if I wanted them. I told her no thanks, just send it back. I wasn't charged for it, and we were given 15% off the bill, and it was still more expensive than it should have been. Entirely disappointing experience. I would be embarrassed to serve food that cold and ask people to pay for it.

Google
This place was awesome! Madison was our server and she was fantastic about explaining the menu. The food was so good, the bread pudding is the most amazing dessert! Highly recommend!!

Google
This place is such a gem! Tastefully decorated, and wonderful ambiance. The food was spectacular also! We ordered a Verdure Pizza for an appetizer, and pastas for our meal. Everything tasted great! I would definitely eat here again.

Google
I had the shrimp scampi pasta, and I didn’t care for the sauce that much. Not too many shrimp but plenty of pasta in the dish. The staff was really attentive and very friendly. The place definitely could use some updating as it looks quite old on the inside.

Google
Great date night spot! Service was excellent. Food was really great, authentic Italian! You could taste how fresh the pasta was! They served HOT fresh focia bread with seasoned oil for dipping. And they use a woodfire oven for crispy pizza with fresh homemade sauce. Trad Italian wines. Selection was a bit limited for wine. But otherwise we had a great experience.

Yelp
Food is always fresh here. The caesar salad was sooooo delicious. I cleaned the bowl, which was chilled! Love it!! I ordered the paneed veal with fettuccine and asparagus which was also fresh. Complimentary bread and dipping oil sealed the deal with a glass of malbec. Chefs kiss. Small but a clean space.....cool place to stop by for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
It's hard to write a bad review when you've had so many good experiences everytime before. This review is solely based on the service provided. We walked up and was greeted at the door by the manager. She asked if we were dining in and we said we would like to. She looked at her watch for about 3 seconds longer than she needed to. My brother realizing they were closing in 25 mins says that's ok, we can go somewhere else. She said No No yall come in. We knew what we wanted right away so we ordered immediately. We got a pizza, a small pasta dish and I ordered a salad. The waiter said we are out of romaine we only have arugula and spinach. I said that'll be fine, assuming the intent of the words used was perceived to be a substitution. The pizza comes out followed by the pasta dish. After he passed a few more times I stopped and asked if the salad was coming. he replied you said nevermind. I said no, I said that'll be fine. I had ordered a salad that was to have romaine bacon egg tomato and olives with a Parmigiano dressing. The salad that came out had spinach apples candied pecans raisins feta and a balsamic pepper jelly vinegarette. Needless to say we were highly disappointed in the service. The food except the salad was amazing as it always is. Hopefully the service can improve for next time. We felt rushed the entire time we were there. They tried bussing the table with food still on the plate.

Yelp
Had to stop in again, because we had a craving. :) Just past lunch crowd again. Quiet. Hannah H. was our server, and she brought my soda and husband's glass of wine quickly. Went with the wonderful Salsiccia Pizza again, this time as an appetizer, and husband ordered the large fettucine with chicken this time. I stuck with the small spaghetti, since I had to have the yummy spicy pumpkin soup with crab. This time there was a LOT of crab, almost too much, if there is such a thing. The piece de resistance was the daily dessert special of an apple fritter topped with meringue and a side of cinnamon ice cream ($12). OH MY HANNAH! It was absolutely the most unique version of an apple fritter I have ever had, and if it's on the menu next time we visit, I'm eating dessert first.

Karen R.

Yelp
Tried them because they understand celiac disease. My shrimp & crab with spicy red sauce was delicious! I also like that some of their entrees were available in two sizes. Ordering the smaller size left room for dessert! We will be back.

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Great spot for lunch! I recently had their spicy crab and pumpkin soup. It was warm and filling and flavorful. I also had the Margherita pizza. The flavors were amazing. Only thing I wish the pizza was a little crunchier because it was kind of floppy and hard to eat. But the flavors were all there, the sauce is really fresh.

Yelp
Whenever we are in New Orleans we eat here. The food is wonderful, service is great, the ambiance is appealing, and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend the pizza.

Carrie G.

Yelp
Everytime a give this place a chance I 've been disappointed. It's disgusting and 3rd rate. The place looks abandoned with no proper upkeep to the outside of the building. It's better inside but the food is so subpar

Buster W.

Yelp
One of the best Italian restaurants around the city of New Orleans everything is made fresh the pasta the pizza dough daily everything is high-quality in a nice atmosphere.

Spice T.

Yelp
It was all great worth the price very nice place to eat make sure you try them The fish special was great service was great every dish I pitched was fantastic

Yelp
I visited here for the first time on Saturday. Overall I had a very good experience. There was onsite parking. The place was kind of small inside and was packed. I believe the website recommended reservations but I came as a walk-in. I lucked up and was able to take the one available table. The waitress was nice. It was very busy. All the staff seemed to be moving fast and working hard. I had to end up going up to the counter to request eating utensils when my food came because there was none at my table and I couldn't flag down a staff person due to the busyiness. I ordered the calamari. It came with three dipping sauces. I really enjoyed the tomato basil sauce. I also ordered the small penne diavola. It was quite spicy. The waitress warned me of the spice level but I don't mind spice and so I gave it a try. The shrimp and crabmeat chunks were a nice size. If you prefer medium to no spice then this dish isn't for you. I also ordered the bread pudding that comes with vanilla gelato. All of the food was very tasty. The bread pudding was a bit pricey but it was so tasty that I would still order it again.

Yelp
Best lasagna I've ever had!!! And it's HUGE. Every ravioli of the day I've tried has been amazing and always fresh. The service and vibes are always top tier!! We love Oak Oven :)

Samuel B.

Yelp
Everyone wants to be food critic so they have to blabber on and on just like yours truly. I think the pizza is outstandingly hot and delicious. Service is good draft beer is just right. Prices are reasonable. 5 stars period

Sanica M.

Yelp
I have had a gift card for this place for like 4 years and finally decided to go check it out. It's quaint and cute. It is in a location that used to be a Popeyes but is redone beautifully. The kitchen is open so you can see the making of the pasta. Service was quick and amazing. The food was delicious. I ordered a pizza to go but indulged in the spinach salad, Fruiti de golfo and shrimp papparadelle via dining in. All ingredients were fresh. This place is great for a date night, lunch date, solid date, etc. I'll be back soon.

Richie H.

Yelp
Experience was greats. Been to the place every time that I am in town. Food and service is always great! Just kinda wish it has a better beer selection.

Jose P.

Yelp
Love this place. Everything is delicious. The specials are always great. Their pizza are tasty. We order the pepperoni. Nice friendly staff

Chrystal H.

Yelp
The pizza was good for my granddaughter (she's 6). First we wait 15 mins after we ordered for them to tell us they ran out of chicken at 7:45pm on a Saturday. Offered us veal and Grilled shrimp. We Said ok. They came back with horrible looking food to start with. The shrimp looked dry and there were 5 medium shrimp in the fettuccini pasta (that they boasted was Hand made) and it was Cooked to death! I mean they Had to cook that maybe 7 mins for Handmade pasta (which should have been 1 to 1.5 mins). It was gummy and awful. I had a risotto dish that was cooked like oatmeal, mushy and awful. These people do no know how to cook Italian food. The table beside me was pissed bc their food was not good either but they were hungry so they kept it. Another table next to me ordered 2 chicken dishes- and guess what-no chicken of course so they ate pizza and were pissed too. Not for me, no way. They apologized and offered me a dessert. Hell no you can keep your dessert. It will be as awful as the food. You can take my meal off and let me go get a burger. Well they charged me 3.50 for a child's tea, and my wife's tea. She did have a soup that was edible and I guess that was 10 bucks for a cup of Soup. So let me sum this up. 3.50 for 2 sweet teas, $10.00 for a soup. $10.00 dollars for a child pizza. (I did have 2 glasses of wine which I fully expect to pay for that was 20 bucks) so with tip ($13.00), I paid 60 dollars for 1 child's pizza, 2 sweet teas, 1-cup of soup and 2 glasses of wine. This is horrible. Do not eat here. The mgmt apologized that I didn't get chicken because they sold most of the food they got for the week. But wanted me to know that it was better that I didn't get what I wanted to eat (that I ordered) as long as they didn't have to throw out food this week. Nice. SMH. Save your money and go somewhere else. The building is under construction, there is no structure at all! They told us to walk up front and look at the specials. I'm telling you folks, don't waste your money. 5-guys was better than this.

Yelp
Last Friday I had the pleasure of having Oak Oven for the first time in so so many years and I was truly anything but disappointed. I vaguely remember thinking that it was pretty good the last time I had it so I thought I would give it another try to see. For the other appetizers, we ordered the Melanzana Fritta (fried eggplant), Calamari, and Frutti di Golfo (shrimp, crab and artichoke). Every single one of these appetizers were so delicious and my favorite was the Frutti di Golfo which was so unique and so delicious with the complementary bread they bring you! The sauces that came with the calamari were divine, and the eggplant was fried perfectly with a perfect marinara sauce (which may sound easy for Italian restaurants, but sometimes I find some marinara at some places are chunky and not good at all). For my entrée, I ordered the paneed veal and I will say it is not the best deal I have ever had because it was not as crispy as I would have liked, but it was still pretty good. The star of the show though was the special for the night which was be prosciutto and fig pizza. This was easily a top five pizza for me. Everything about it was perfect, from the crust to all of the fresh toppings which our server had told us that the figs were grown in their own garden. Lastly, we ordered the tiramisu which I absolutely loved and it was such a nice portion size. I will say I am not as big of a fan of fruit being on top of it, but it was still very good and did an over power it. Our waitress was super sweet and attentive, and made our meal even better. The inside was smaller than I remember but it was definitely a nice place to grab dinner, and I will definitely be back soon especially for the pizza!!!!

Yelp
I love this little hidden gem off of Jefferson highway. A friend and I decided to check this place out on a Tuesday evening for an early dinner! Best decision ever! We did NOT have a reservation, but they were able to get us in. I tried the harvest salad I believe is what it was called and it was refreshing. They have a small and large size, the small salad was split between two people and it was a great portion. For my entree I got the Margherita Pizza just for myself and I had three pieces leftover. For dessert we decided to split the bread pudding with icecream . IT WAS AMAZING! The candied pecans were everything ! Our waiter was attentive, pricing was reasonable and SUPPORT LOCAL! I will be back!

Sherry F.

Yelp
Nice glass of wine, warm, hot bread, pecan salad with chicken Parm to die for my husband and I will be back...

Yelp
On a business trip, I had a hankering for pizza & this joint was reasonably close, had decent reviews & looked good online. A recent (or still fresh) exterior-redo greeted me upon arrival/parking & a bright, open & modern interior was a pleasant surprise regardless of a somewhat struggling AC... I was alone & enjoy staff interaction, they were friendly & knowledgable & suggested a mash-up of 2 pizza's I couldn't decide between (it's been some time as I write this & cannot recall the specific pizzas). The calamari appetizer was fresh & crispy & a went down nice with a cold beer. The Pizza smash-up was just what I had in mind & I enjoyed it... and then again as a late night snack & a cold breakfast the next morning!

Dave K.

Yelp
This was our first time here since moving to Harahan a little over a month ago. Everything about this meal was superb. Service, ambiance, both the quality and flavor of the dishes we had... all superb. We had calamari to start, the papardelle pasta with shrimp and artichoke, and the carne pizza. We will definitely be back, and this is a new regular neighborhood spot for us. How lucky we are to live so close to such excellent Italian food!

Linda H.

Yelp
I'll begin by saying the food was delicious and I had every intention of eating all my leftovers. I ordered the Margherita Pizza with roasted garlic, Beccafico and Budino di Pane a la Mode. I had dinner 4/1/23 @ around 4-4:30pm The problem started at 4:00am the next day. Pretty much vomited from 4:30- 7:30 am. Around 6:15am, I mustered up the strength to drive to Walmart to get some Pepto-Bismol, Pedialyte and Gatorade. While in Walmart, i vomited. I called the establishment April 3rd @4:03 pm and asked by accident to speak to the owner the female employee said that the owner was not available. I said may I speak to the manager. She stated that the manager was not available. I left a message with her detailing that I thought I had been food poisoned. Of course this is a long story short, we were on the phone 7minutes. I asked to have a call back so that I could discuss it with the manager. That call never happened. The major problem I have is either cross contamination or dishonesty of menu items. There is a crabcake with oysters available as an appetizer. My entrée has crab in it however it does not list that it contains oysters. I am allergic to oysters. She said there is no oysters in my entrée. She said that perhaps there was cross-contamination. I felt dismissed after she asked me if I had went to the hospital. I did not. I barely had the strength to go to Walmart to get those items just to try to stop the vomiting. I was also asked if I told the waitress I was allergic to oysters. I didn't tell her because I didn't think I needed to because the dish I ordered has no oysters listed. I specifically asked her if the same lump crab meat mixture is use for the app and entrée and she said no.

Scot L.

Yelp
Usually great but had a bad lunch recently! Ordered the Lobster Thermador (a special) which is SUPPOSED to have the lobster removed from the tail, cut into bite size chunks and have a buttery wine sauce over it. What I was served was a dried out lobster tail with no sauce and not cut into pieces. Not good!

N P.

Yelp
Some dishes superb, some a miss. The pizza had a nice char and texture. The piccata had no lemon taste at all, the chicken was dry. The wedding soup was well seasoned and had plenty veggies. The artichoke appetizer had a beautiful presentation. The sauce was too rich. Heavy cream and cheese. The meatballs were good but under seasoned, the spaghetti was over cooked. The service was friendly and personalized. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Good amount of seating. Good choice of daily specials including desserts.

Jackie S.

Yelp
This place used to be great but once the owners opened across the lake the food quality is much lower.

Nola G.

Yelp
Can't say enough about the food! Delicious and amazing! Slightly on the pricey side but the food will not disappoint! It's so fresh, and authentic and there's something for everyone. Great service too. The outside of this restaurant doesn't look like much, in fact it's pretty easy to just drive right pass it, and parking is not plentiful. You will love it!

Linda D.

Yelp
Food is excellent and the service is too. The pasta and pizza is fabulous and we are so lucky to have this restaurant in Harahan!

Chris Z.

Yelp
Ordered $100 worth of food on Uber Eats and the manager said they forgot the Prosecco poached crabmeat because it's not commonly ordered? Come on after waiting an hour and a half to his is the reason from the manager lady? Also the spaghetti and meatballs were burnt. It was the worst order and I have no idea why they are ranked as "best overall" on Uber. It was terrible.

Gabriel D.

Yelp
Ordered the ribeye special with a side of veggies, I'd give my meal a solid 7/10, would be higher if the meat wasn't cooked well done. But I did try a slice of my dads lamb meatball pizza and that was far better than the steak I ordered. Perfect crisp on the crust, and the cheese/meats were made to perfection. Next time I visit I'll be ordering the pizza for sure. Service was fairly quick and efficient, you get free focaccia bread with olive oil as well which was delicious. Ambiance was warm and inviting though it was fairly crowded due to it being a Friday night. If you're ever in the harahan area looking for high quality pizza/Italian food eat here.

Gina H.

Yelp
I have wanted to try here for a while, but was a bit disappointed. We were there before they opened. It was 3 of us. We walk in, no one else there & an abrupt "so you have a reservation?" We said no (not 1 other patron in this place yet), chatter among themselves. Ok, you can sit here. The first table right next the front door & wait area, menus on the table. If you are busy, I get it, but ok, moving on. I ordered a ravioli appetizer. Homemade and a pesto type sauce. It was enjoyable. I had the paneed veal with homemade fettuccine alfredo. The veal was very small pieces and more breading than veal. Fettuccine alfredo was very good!!! So was the asparagus. Our friend had the lasagna and he said it was good and he enjoyed it. My husband ordered the formaggi pizza. This was not very good. Even though menu describes the ingredients, there was not "tomatoes" on there. It came with tomato sauce. Formaggi pizza usually means different cheeses (ricotta lacked), garlic in some cases. The dough was very doughy. The focaccia that we got after the appetizer, was ok. My suggestion would be to train the staff because the waiter was uncertain when we asked questions and was not very familiar with the menu. He could have been new, but make sure your employees know the menu. I always try to give positive reviews, but i need to give an honest review. K maybe we just caught them on an off night.

Emily P.

Yelp
We had the best lunch experience here. The gluten free pasta was excellent. Waitress was so nice. Highly recommend.

Michele N.

Yelp
This is our second time here. We started with the oyster and crab appetizer. It was over fried and the oyster tasted too fishy for me. The crab and ravioli was good. It consisted with lump crab meat and ricotta with a hint of lemon. For our entrees I had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. The fettuccine was handmade. The shrimps were fresh and a good size. I love the texture and taste of their fresh pasta. The boyfriend had the veal parmigiana. That will be my next choice when I return. Their red sauce was so goood! I've had their wood fire pizza before also and it is also pretty good. Great service. I just wish it wasn't so far from where I live lol but I'm willing to make the 30-40 min drive. :)

Skip H.

Yelp
Placed a large order in advance it was ready right on time, staff could not have been more friendly or professional. I wish I could say the food was great but alas, no. The pizza, while unique (I happen to like thin crust pizza) was dry. I ordered 5 different pizzas. Toppings were imaginative but sparse. Use of cheap green olives on pizza was unfortunate. Fried calamari was sad- light beige, very soft, oil-tasting and rubbery. Margherita was the favorite, very rich and suited to the crispy crust. For a party of 8, $130 including tax and tip. Guests were extremely underwhelmed. Will try somewhere else next time.

David W.

Yelp
Best pizza I've had in the greater New Orleans area. Neopolitan style from a high end wood burning oven made with quality ingredients. The eggplant appetizer is also delicious. They have pastas on the menu but I'll never order it as I'll always be going for the pizza. It is a small place so best to make a reservation. Service was very friendly and helpful. Wine list by the glass is good and a glass of the Daou Cabernet will set you right.

Esther C.

Yelp
The food is absolutely amazing. The service could be a little better. It's not terrible. The atmosphere when you walk in is not completely welcoming, but they warm up as the encounter goes on. The location is nice, but surprising. The outside definitely does not match the inside. This was worth the experience, although it left me wanting a little more in some areas.

Thomas S.

Yelp
We came to New Orleans for spring break of 2023, we quickly decided to avoid the French Quarter at all cost, YELP to the rescue!!! We found Oak Over and LOVED every bit. When we walked in walked in the young person making out pizza was dancing as he pulled our pizza out! You could taste that everyone there chose to enjoy their time to together! The pasta was very good and the pizza was delicious!

Michael M.

Yelp
Pretty rough price increase, and fair prices were a huge factor when I would come here. $3-$4 per item is steep and brings this from an "every week" spot to a "rarely" spot. Still great food but I may need to find a new go-to pizza.

Slimothy V.

Yelp
This is my third time going to Oak Oven in a matter of months. Each time, the service was great, the food is fresh and hot, and the restaurant is clean. I love the Parmigiano salad and the homemade fettuccine. I had that all 3 times. This time, we tried the Bread Pudding. It was superb!! Simple but super delicious. The Strawberry Lemonade Sangria was delicious as well. Last time they had Mango Cherry Sangria with mango garnish. I can't wait to go back and try the pizza and a new Sangria!!

Justin B.

Yelp
Found this place by searching Italian restaurants on Open Table. Made a good choice by going with this restaurant. I gave 3 out of 4 stars because we made reservations and still had to sit and wait for 15 minutes. Also when we ordered our entrees, we order a pizza to go for when we finished our meals and the waiter forgot about it, so we had to wait another 15 minutes. Understanding his mistake we still left him a 20.00 tip due to the COVID hardships on the restaurant businesses. NOW... me and the beautiful wifey LOVED the ambiance and the food that was sooo good I just wanted to dance. You know food is good when you dancing in your chair. I had the veal marsala with mashed potatoes and asparagus. I cleaned my plate and would have licked it but my beautiful wifey would have probably slapped me. The beautiful wifey ordered the chicken parmesan, she would have finished it but we scarfed down a delicious appetizer of thinly sliced wedge eggplant. It was a good experience and we will definitely be back. I would have gave the cook a hug, but that would be frowned upon because of COVID.

Michelle D.

Yelp
EAT LOCAL, Who needs New Orleans...!!! Stumbled upon this place from a Facebook recommendation. After reviewing the website decided that's where we were having dinner tonight. The website highly recommended making reservations. It was 5:05pm and they opened for dinner at 5 so I called and got a recording. Hung up, waited 5 minutes called again, no answer just the recording saying again reservations highly recommended. Called 1 more time and recording again. So we decided just to head over as it was now 5:45 and figured they wouldn't be too busy yet. Well to our surprise they were packed. I walked in to give our name and was asked if had reservations to which i replied no and told the hostess (which happen to be the manager) that i called 3 times with no answer. He seemed puzzled by this. He asked what number i called so I then showed him my phone showing the unanswered call attempts. He then told us it would be about an hour wait and we could have a seat. Then 5 minutes later he approached us saying he had a table for us. I was great-full to be seated so quickly and he apologized for the confusion. This was our 1st visit here. We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere was nice. We plan to return with reservations next time. The restaurant is small and cozy and had friendly staff. Food was hot, fresh, and tasty. I had the chicken parm, he had the brick oven pizza. We shared a bread pudding for dessert and it was delish Thanks for a good meal, Michelle Metairie, La

Yelp
On facebook right now, Oak Oven has a great carryout promotion for 20% off food from a limited menu and 50% off bottles of wine. On top of that it looks like Yelp is giving 3% cash back. Money talks. We ordered by phone at 5:20pm (they open at 5pm), and they said our order would be ready by 6:20pm. So glad we ordered early. There were a ton of people waiting by their cars when we arrived, they definitely have a devoted fan base. We got the lamb meatball pizza and the veal marsala. Full disclosure, I'm a guy who's perfectly happy with the chain pizza places. I enjoyed my pizza. I think the best definition is well balanced. When I looked at their menu, I had to rule out items with mushroom and purely vegetarian stuff because I can't handle the fungus and need a little meat. The salsiccia and carne pizzas had ingredients that sounded salty so I chose the lamb meatball which has sweet peppers, basil, red chile, tomato, and ricotta as stated on their menu. It came out really good, the lamb was plentiful, cooked well, and not too salty. They just had fresh, quality ingredients that don't need any extra seasoning. Ricotta cheese is not my favorite but I can't complain since I knowingly got it. The veal marsala was consumed solely by my girlfriend because it has mushrooms. She says it had good portions, the sauce was very flavorful with plenty of mushrooms. The veal was well cooked and moist. The mashed potatoes were a little watery but still good. I think Oak Oven is a solid choice for simple Italian that uses quality ingredients. It's nothing too fancy (though to be fair I didn't get anything fancy) and it won't break your carbohydrate or sodium allotment for the week. Maybe you'll break your carb limit if you're able to dine in and you eat their free bread.

Yelp
We have dined here several times and have always found the service to be great. The atmosphere is wonderful- cozy, romantic, and laid- back. They also have a few tables set up outside for those who prefer outdoor dining at this time. Make sure to have a reservation beforehand because this place is always packed! We love their pizza (huge fans of wood- fires pizza) and can never resist ordering the calamari- perfectly crisp and comes with three unique and delicious sauces ( garlic aioli, spicy mayo, and tomato basil). Our favorite pizza has been the Carne- house- made sausage, smoked bacon, pepperoni, and sweet onions. I'm typically not a fan of meat on my pizza, but this has so much flavor and is not greasy like you would expect. This is a great fixture to the Harahan area.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Oak Oven and glad we happened upon it. Its a small restaurant and reservations are recommended or go right when they open to ensure you can be seated. I had the mango peach sangria which was delicious. I started with the fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp and a light drizzle of remoulade sauce. The tomatoes were fried perfectly and the shrimp seasoned well. It was an appetizer special but I hope to have it again on my next visit (there will definitely be a next visit). Next I had the shrimp and crab pizza which was sooo good. It was cheese-less and as a cheese lover I thought I'd miss it but I definitely didn't miss the cheese. It was a good amount of lump crab and shrimp. I finished with the bread pudding which was the perfect finish to my meal. I left there stuffed but I have no regrets. Im grateful I don't live closer because I can see myself visiting often and gaining a pants size a consequence.

Yelp
I have eaten at OAK OVEN many times since they opened. Always a fresh high quality meal, the focaccia bread & oil is sooo delicious, love the fried eggplant, all entrees are very good but my particular favorite is the Beccaficco (spelling?) ... Was looking for someplace to cater a luncheon for 20 people at my office and thought of them ... I worked with Manager Martin Valdez - we decided on the menu, prices were reasonable, arranged for delivery to my office downtown .. Thanks to Martin - and Chelsea - it went off without a hitch ... Our luncheon consisted of Pesto Chicken Pasta, Shrimp Artichoke Lemon Pasta, Caesar Salad, Meatballs, Mini Ciabatta Sandwiches: Rosemary Chicken & Chicken Caesar - and, of course, their signature Focaccia Bread with dipping oil ... Everyone at our event was so pleasantly surprised ... they hadn't heard of Oak Oven, but they know it now! Oak Oven hit it out of the park - thanks for helping to make my luncheon a success! Big thumbs up!!

Yelp
Hadn't been there in years because I moved but it's one of my favorite restaurants in Metairie/Jefferson and definitely recommend it to anyone I know visiting. Great menu! Unique! Everyone made to order! The meatballs are my favorite!!

Yelp
This purports to be a particularly Italian pizza and pasta restaurant, but it seemed to me a more specifically Southern take on the cuisine. On one hand, it's got a farm-to-table thing going, but on the other, the salad I got was drenched in a very sweet pepper jelly, and the margherita I ordered contained more solid, heavy cheese than I've ever had on-say-a Neapolitan style pizza. That's not to say it wasn't good; the basil on top had a nice zing. While the location isn't terribly far from touristy downtown New Orleans, culturally it's a world away and the small dining room was quite full of people who seemed exclusively local. The service was attentive enough but by no means fast; it was a solid half hour from ordering before I actually got my pizza-though the bread with sundried tomato bits and olive oil and a salad helped to pass the time. They explicitly claim to provide for vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs, though their official menu is fairly conventional so you would have to ask. I wasn't entirely blown away, but the place seems to have a nice niche for itself.

Yelp
We have so many great Italian restaurants and this one is just over priced and mediocre. The focaccia table bread is delicious and served warm but we had to wait at least 10 minutes from ordering to get it. You can buy this yourself from the Wandering Goat next door. We had a pepperoni pizza and it was average but more sauce than cheese. We asked for Parmesan and the lady put maybe a tablespoon or on it and walked away. We about died laughing at this cheese stinginess. You can get a much better pizza with overloaded toppings at Gendusas.

Yelp
We have always been very satisfied with the meals that we've gotten from Oak Oven, but we ordered today right before they closed for lunch, and the pizza was almost inedible. We rarely complain, but the pizza was charred and black in places and raw in others. Disappointing. We will try them again, but this was not a good experience.
