Small market but nicely done. KC Kombucha serves here! Yum, bring your refillable bottles for a discount. Taste local honey & fruits. Soaps, teas, candles & plants for sale.

The Oak Park Farmers Market is a brand new small market located at McClatchy Park on Saturdays from 9am-1pm. There are only a few vendors right now but all of them are great! There was fresh and dried flower bouquets, locally grown strawberries and veggies, homemade teas and pound cakes, aqua frescas, beautiful plants and a handful of family owned restaurant tents. I bought some lemon drop tea from Tea Amo, it smells and tastes delicious!! I also got 3 beautiful new plants from the Plant Demon, that guy knows SO much about every single plant I was super impressed. My mom and I enjoyed our lunch at Meza, an Arab and Mexican combination restaurant where we had a vegetarian quesadilla and a chicken wrap with garlic sauce, they were both insanely good. As well as their mint and orange blossom lemonade and tahini chocolate chip cookie that happens to be vegan! The cookie was so good that I bought two more for later. I recommend stopping by this small farmers market even for a few minutes if you're in the area, you are highly likely to see something you will want to buy and supporting small local businesses is one of the best things you can do on a Saturday 💖

Small but lovely market, and great for someone who gets overwhelmed with choices at large markets.

Google
It's got a lot of growing to do and the midtown farmers market won't calm itself down to let this farmers market exist. It's not a competition. I wish there would be some collaboration to get more people who would go to the midtown market here. This doesn't need to be on the same level or the same thing as the midtown farmers market but the midtown market is making it really hard for this market to exist and it doesn't need to be like that

Google
It's a cute lovely experience, but as of late vendors are swapping in and out a lot and previous staples are just not around anymore? Great for a small bite to eat and explore new culinary experiences but often if you are going for a specific person there is no guarantee that they will be there week after week.

A question, not a review. Can anyone tell me when Jujubees are back in season? Thank you.

Google
I hadn't seen them set up for a while and I just assumed they were no longer there. Clearly I was wrong.

Google
First day open and lots of food vendors and people out to enjoy the day. Not too many produce vendors, and they were mostly sold out within the first hour and a half. Hopefully, more produce vendors will show up. Also, there needs to be more seating. Lots of people are getting their food, then standing in groups talking and eating in the walk ways making it difficult for others to walk around them. But still an enjoyable day.

Yelp
This "farmers market" is just sad, man. There was only ONE proper produce stand when we went, and it was overpriced, the staff not particularly friendly, and the tomatoes I got from them were mealy. There was one other stand with vegetables but their selection was extremely limited (like literally 3 things) and even more overpriced. All the other stands are prepared foods/drinks and I think there were 1 or 2 stands selling soaps and stuff like that. I just can't understand why they are not able to get a couple other produce vendors to join. There were enough people there, even with the sad state of it, that I'm sure they'd be able to make some money. Out of all those vendors at the Midtown and Sunday under the freeway farmers markets, they can't get a few more to come out to this one? I wonder if changing the day of the market would help. Oak Park could sorely use a really good and affordable farmers market. It's a real shame this one hasn't been able to fill that void. For now it's a fine stop if you're walking through the park and want a casual lunch, but if you're looking for a legit farmer's market, this ain't it.

Yelp
This is a super cute farmers market! I've been here for the first time today, and it's a great spot for people to gather and buy affordable, fresh produce. I love that they also gave out goodie bags for the first 100 shoppers and there were some cool coupons, and $5 worth of farmers market bucks to spend! Unfortunately many of the coupons expired the day of, so if you don't check your bag before going home, you'll miss some deals. They also gave a bunch of arugula in the bag! Anyway, lots of produce, fresh flowers, baked goods, crafted goods, food trucks...something for everyone. I ended up getting a mangonada from Gazpachos. Overall the stuff here is very affordable!

Yelp
Maybe it's because I arrived at the tail-end of the Wednesday market (1 hour before close), but the market was pretty empty. Only a few several small food stalls. No food trucks. Nice live music though. No one was really perusing around the market. Seemed like those who live nearby were just chilling here. I ended up not grabbing anything here. Was anticipating to get at least some fruit but it was slim pickings and the fruits looked a little past their prime. I'm guessing that it was busier earlier in the day. The Saturday market is probably even more active.

Yelp
I really like this farmer's market, although it is definitely one of the smallest ones I have ever been to. Having grown up in Oak Park, it always has a special little spot in my heart. Unfortunately, it is open seasonally and it is currently not open. I do love at it is right by a park and plenty on extra space for social distancing (Unfortunately, covid is still around). Me and my bestie were there pretty much every week in the fall. They don't have a ton of veggies, but enough if you were looking to supplement for a couple of meals. I love the food trucks on hand and the nice drinks you can get to drink while strolling through. They have a few artists with their wares as well. Once you are done looking at the stalls, you can plop down on the many picnic tables or find yourself a comfy spot on the cool artist stairs to chat and eat your goodies. There's a really nice playground if you brought your kiddos too.

Yelp
The Atmosphere: a cute little farmers market The Food: the stands were good, but sadly I found out about this market after I had already had plans to go elsewhere, so I couldn't pick up anything here The Service: the workers were nice Bathrooms: not that I saw Parking: parked down the street and walked over, had no issue with parking Highlights: I liked all the signs that lead me here and it was a cute little market

Yelp
Oh, how I wish this farmers market was year round. It's my favorite in Sac! It's not packed like the Sunday markets or overpriced to hell like the Midtown market. I had an incredible watermelon here last week (best I've had this year), the best white nectarines I've ever had in my life and some great pluots & pears. The flavors of the fruits are so freaking gorgeous and unique that I wonder why I even bother with supermarket produce. The only problem is it's so good that I gorge myself and it doesn't last me until next week :) Hahaha.

Yelp
This is sad, but the Oak Park Farmers Market is no longer good. It is still run by Neighborhood Works, but they changed it to Sundays, which isn't the biggest issue, but rather that there's far fewer local farmers coming and selling their wonderful produce and the same is also with the hot-food, food truck/ready-to-eat, and artisan food vendors, as there are far fewer vendors overall now. Also the EBT dollar match has changed from $20 to $10 limit for those who have EBT. I read that on their Facebook page. There also used to be wonderful kids activities, to include taste testing of fruits and veggies (a different one each week), arts and crafts projects, and each kid even got $5 (non-real) money to spend at the Oak Park Farmers Market which encouraged kids to buy different fruits and veggies (not usable for hot foods) and try to eat healthier and enjoy the experience of being at a farmer's market, this is no longer available. So sad, too bad.

Yelp
This is truly a market by and for the locals! Super safe, super delicious, super affordable. To enter the market, wash your hands, rock a mask, and agree to have the vendors handle the goods. Love that the vendors are the only people touching the food. Last week, I spent under $7 on bell peppers, tomato, elephantine garlic and plums. I talked it up about it all week, and returned this week with a new shopping buddy. We spent $20 and picked up a bounty of potatoes, red onion, corn, cauliflower, celery, garlic, pasilla peppers and cucumbers.

Yelp
This is the only Sacramento farmers market that I have seen with the intent to educate the community on healthy eating and provide tools to create a healthy lifestyle. They have crafts for the kids, sac library, food literacy, coffee, food trucks and more. They double the $$ for food stamp trade in. So if have $20 in food stamp $'s, they will give you $40 in tokens to spend at farmers market. This is a great service provided to the community. Ooh, they also have Dave's Popsicles - all natural, delicious and they don't drip! Yes, it's true...no sticky drippings down your arm.

Yelp
Small, but growing Farmer's Market This up and coming neighborhood is clearly trying to clean up McClatchy Park (it needs it) with this Saturday morning farmers market. Although a little small, there is a steady stream of patrons browsing through, and the market itself seems to be slowly growing. There are a variety of things to buy, from fresh flowers and produce, to pre made food. The fresh pasta stand had some amazing raviolis. Word on the street was that the fresh baked and still warm sourdough bread with cheese baked into it was the item to buy-but they were already sold out by 930am! Keep up the great work on this.... With the cool hipsters moving into this hood, park events like this market will surely clean up McClatchy Park. I'm looking forward to coming back and raising my rating as this Farmers Market grows!

Yelp
Located in McClatchy Park on Saturdays from May-October, 9am-1pm. You'll see the canopies of vendors.. It's a small farmers market but I like that because there's not 10 stands with the same shit. I also like that its heavy on the vegan. A lot of times I've been to markets or even the farm-to-fork festival and vegan things are lacking but here it was like an idea embraced.. There was fresh fruits, veggies, and vendors like Phil Me Up, Devil May Care Ice Cream and Bambi Vegan Tacos.. There was also tables for companies that serve the community..

Yelp
I needed fresh produce and fruit to take on a trip for the weekend and this is the closest farmer's market to my house. The prices were crazy! I paid $6.00 for a basket of strawberries! I wanted some peaches and there was only one person selling them. I had to ask the price because there wasn't a sign. The peaches were 3.00 per pound. I made a comment about how high the price is and the vendor said that she gets $3.50/lb at the market in San Francisco. I'll never return to the Oak Park market. I'll make sure that I get to the Florin market on Thursday or the market currently at Arden mail

Yelp
Brought an out of town friend here for a non-traditional breakfast hangout time. Liege-style waffle from Red Rooster Waffles? Wonderful. They explained to us what set their waffles apart--and they're spot on about it, like little sugar explosions as you eat away! Chile and cheese tamale from Yolanda's in Courtland? Phenomenal. So glad they're out here so I don't have to make the drive for some of the best tamales I've ever had. And a chocolate, banana, and walnut muffin from Mighty Kong? Outstanding. I forgot that what I was eating was healthy--and you KNOW how difficult it is to get something like that! I brought home some tamales, strawberries, and blackberries, just thinking I was getting a great deal. Just tried them and could not BELIEVE how sweet they were! Add to the mix free massages (yeah, you just read that--FREE,) a great jam session going on, and fantastic happy atmosphere and you've got a perfect Saturday morning. My friend was surprised to know that this was a typically difficult neighborhood. I will definitely be back. We all have high hopes for this endeavor. We all want the revitalization of Oak Park. I only wish I saw more faces from the neighborhood alongside the faces of those who we all know are not from the immediate surrounding area. If anyone knows of a way to help make this happen, please contact the organizers and offer your help!

Yelp
What a gem! Beautiful park & great vendors, I just wish more would come to make it worth while. The purple pig set up a food tent and was awesome, if you sign up for the email you get freebies! Family fun but not pet friendly. Parking can be close or far depending on the crowd and time of day.

Yelp
This farmers market is awesome! It is a small, local market with lots of love and passion put in from the staff that run the market. Open Wednesdays and Saturdays. They have fresh produce, bread, eggs, pita and hummus, and other prepared foods from local places. They have music and activities for children as well. They offer incentives for EBT which is awesome to see. Truly a community-based farmers market. Love this place!
google avatar

Celia Y.

Yelp
I love the variety at this market, there is fresh, local produce, as well eggs, cheese and other locally made products. There are food vendors, including one of my favorites Yolanda's Tamales and Faria Bakery. Finally, they have live music and a place to sit and mingle.

Yelp
While this farmers market may be on the smaller side it is packed with anything you could possibly want or need. In addition to fresh produce they have ready to eat food vendors, entertainment, plants for your garden, flowers and an all around great vibe. I found the vendors' prices to be great - a half flat of organic strawberries for $12, herb plants for $2, and crazy good tortillas for $4. It was great interacting with the patrons and vendors; I even picked up a few tricks on getting my veggie garden at home to flourish. This market offers a "double your dollars," EBT match program up to $20. For example, if you purchase $20 worth of EBT, they give you $40 worth of EBT tokens that you can spend at the market just like cash. All of the produce vendors accept EBT and you are doubling your spending power - how great is that?! I've been cooking with my goodies I scored from last week's market and I have honestly never tasted better food in my life. Everything is so fresh, vibrant and bursting with flavor - it's insane. I'm swearing off the grocery store produce with their under-ripened, pesticide sprayed wares and sticking to wholesome, local food that puts money back into our community!

Yelp
One of the best things about the local farmer's market "scene" is the large number of locations and how unique each one is. The Oak Park Farmer's market is only open in the Spring/Summer and is one of the smaller venues on the circuit. But don't let size fool you. This market has a great Berkley vibe with music and food and high quality produce buying options. The atmosphere is relaxed and hanging out instead of the bustle of the Sunday's market. Definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
A lot of our Farmers Markets here in Sacramento are located in/on boring, hot ~cement parking lots or such...This Market may be small in size, but it is quite nice. It packs a punch with it's live music and cool park setting under lots of huge old Sacramento trees and a lovely surrounding grassy park. I can even take my pup with me, just as long as I stay on the outskirts of the tables - everyone is happy to see her ~ so that is a big plus for us. Although the "Oak Park" location may deter some, really don't let it, it is a decent part of the area and there are no "bad" folks lingering around. It is never too crowded and there is always fresh cut flowers, tons of veggies/fruits, a bread stand and an tamale stand too.... mmm yum. You can sit back and listen to the live music and just chill out for a bit - instead of bumping arms with everyone in a parking lot, under the noise of the free way Q street Market. Plus it is on Saturdays, which rules even more! Get all your goodies to prepare for a week of healthy meals. I love it! and my Pup loves it too! See ya there. Hurry before summer is over!

Yelp
If I happen to wake up early on a Saturday morning, I make the Oak Park Farmer's Market a must-stop. It's a quick bike ride away and it's just the right size for a great variety of fruits, veggies, breads, pastries, flowers, and food. The majority of the market stands offer organically grown product and their prices are great - take that pricey Co-op! Everyone is always in such a great mood and really friendly - and for 9am on a Saturday!
google avatar

Yelp
Small with a nice selection of fruits and veggies. Yolanda's Tamale truck is an awesome addition. Today there was live music and the "Bird House Man" was there working with children making bird houses. A really nice community vibe. I bought some earrings made out of gourds from the Women's Wisdom project. Check it out.

Yelp
The Oak Park Farmers Market is a welcome addition to the neighborhood and a huge step up from the previous incarnation (a small market stand on 5th ave). The vendors are all well priced, nice, and attentive. The strawberry stand sells strawberries that are picked the morning of the market! There is usually music of some kind, a fresh flower stand and lots of seasonal veggies. The market runs every Saturday from 9am to 1pm through October 16th.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
This is my favorite farmer's market in Sacramento. There is a little bit of everything I need, including veggies, cheese, baked goods, flowers and oils/vinegars, etc. There is always music and a friendly vibe. Bambi's Vegan Taco Truck is an added bonus. So good!
google avatar

Yelp
2010 was its inaugural season, but it'll open up again come summer 2011. I cannot wait. If I want some fresh berries, greens or flowers it is fantastic to be able to walk down the street and find what I need. It also makes me feel good to support this neighborhood market. This market even has fresh bread and a wide selection of cheeses. Towards the end of their inaugural season they added live music, seating and a tamale cart. It's such a great thing to be able to grab some groceries and then sit around having lunch while listening to music from the Bay Area.
google avatar

Sandra K.

Yelp
Our family looks forward to this market for crafts, music and community. And for the fresh produce!
google avatar

Angie B.

Yelp
I loved the hummus and almond stands that were there, but that had to be the smallest farmers market available. I won't go back.
google avatar

Naida E.

Yelp
We started out with the farmers market at McClatchy Park by Alchemy and my son volunteered, it was an urban farm stand and amazing, yet small. Then it moved to Broadway and I saw Ricky Berger live, for free. Now it is coming back to our park. I am elated. I did not like the tree-less location, but did love hood access. Now I will enjoy the best of both worlds, beautiful environment and within in skipping distance. Oh Oak Park, how I love you. I saw a flier and it said this farmers market will match EBT dollar with an extra market dollar. Poor folks can literally double their money!
google avatar

Melanie P.

Yelp
If you come to the market make sure to stop by the Blossom Bathhouse stand. This artisans creations are as beautiful as they smell. Great for gifts!
google avatar

Memo D.

Yelp
Although I really want this market to become popular because I like it so much, part of me wants to keep it a secret! Really friendly down to earth vibe, on the smaller side but that's a plus because it still has plenty of good selection without being super crowded or overwhelming. Usually there's music and other activities going on (some of the events I've seen on different visits are free yoga lessons, classic car displays, and community service booths). And it's just two blocks from Old Soul (perfect Saturday morning = cup of good coffee at a cool cafe then a walk over to the farmers' market!)!
google avatar

Eric E.

Yelp
This Farmer's Market is vastly improved at the new McClatchy Park location. Last week, there was great jazz music. We also enjoyed breakfast burritos and coffee from the always awesome Mighty Kong Muffins. Obviously, you can also get produce here. :-)
google avatar

Chris B.

Yelp
Best farmer's market in Sactown. Real community and good food. Music too and cooking classes.

Amanda D.

Yelp
I'm a weekly attendee at this market, and usually get a bag of vegetables for about $5. I'm sooo excited about the new layout of the market this coming summer (May 5). This market has great prices, is within walking distance from my house, and is a great asset to Oak Park. May 5 can't come soon enough! I always enjoy Yolanda's tamales too!
google avatar

Martina R.

Yelp
I did not like this Farmers Market. For the Fact that they are in the getto the prices sucked. I baught a bunch of stuff and then went and priced the items at the store and they are cheaper in the store. I work for a organic farm and we do the farmers market on W street so I know what the prices should be but they sucked and also there was not very much to pick from this weekend. No I will not go back there again unless i want to by flowers they did have some nice flowers.

Jessie D.

Yelp
This is my favorite market! The new structure keeps the market cool in the heat. There is always entertainment. And it feels like a family vibe. I'm going to be coming every Saturday from now on! (Some stands are kombucha, vegan tacos, tamales, fresh fish, fruits and veg, eggs, flowers, coffee...I forget what else. :)
google avatar

Margaret W.

Yelp
I absolutely love farmers market fresh produce fresh everything amazing deals great people just a livelihood the people are amazing I wouldn't shop anywhere else in the Sacramento for my fresh produce and fresh veggies
google avatar

John B.

Yelp
Friendly, local Farmer's Market. The quality was better than expected and the prices were lower. The venue has a little something for everyone. Free massages, free live music, free EBT, free activities for the kids, and community resources. Prepared foods as well as artisan crafts are sure to intrigue.

Joan B.

Yelp
Live music greets us as we walk in there is great coffee to sip. The freshest fruits and veggies await our shopping bags as well as the best free range eggs. I love the freshest baked products and aged cheese. The smiling vendors bless us with friendship. We are one family. This year it will be open to the end of November! Hooray!

Jonathan S.

Yelp
I love this farmers market and if you get there early enough they'll give you $5 in free money for the word of the day I take my son there every weekend so you can get fresh fruits and vegetables and also that chefs cooking to show you how to work with the fresh fruits and vegetables this place is amazing

D. L.

Yelp
Cute but very small. Not a whole lot of options as far as vendors and I also thought what was offered was fairly pricey. Still, this market is very needed in this area and is a positive thing for McClatchy park.

Yelp
great asset to the neighborhood, awesome cheese, tomatoes and whatever is in season. nice music series. the only thing I don't like is that it shut down for the season last week. BOOOOOO!!!!!

Margarita G.

Yelp
The Oak Park Farmers Market is a hidden gem! This was a pleasant outing which included selecting from a variety of fruits, vegetables, fresh free-range eggs, bread, and cheese. I had to grab some blackberries (which weren't on my grocery list) but they looked so good. I couldn't leave without sitting down and enjoying the live music while eating a delicious tamale from Yolanda's. As I was leaving, I also couldn't resist buying a four pack of cupcakes. Keep a look out for the "word of the day" as you can get an extra 5 bucks to spend on the fresh produce. I bought my Pig-A-Palooza ticket, which helps benefit the Oak Park Farmers Market and keep this market here, and got an additional 5 bucks to spend! What did I learned from Saturday's trip to the farmers market? I couldn't resist temptation. Well, I was able to resist -just a little- but now I have to go back next week and purchase one of those African/Ghana baskets. I'm also excited about the Pig-a-Palooza (the following week) as rumor has it that Gunther's Ice Cream has a special flavor for this event. Definitely won't be able to resist that!
