I decided to visit, Oak Park Social, this past Saturday,
May 18th, in Oak Park, MI; on 11 Mile Road, east of Greenfield Road, to view The Preakness Stakes, have a meal and a few "High-balls" (when was the last time you heard this phrase).
I had my first visit there, two weeks prior, with a partner and it was cool, so let's do it again.
I was wonderfully greeted and waited on by Morgan, whom I asked, if the pony race could be placed on one of the TV's. She stated yes, give her a few minutes; she was running around with orders for tables etcetera.
While she engaged with those chores, a stocky, red-bearded dude entered the bar area, who made me drinks, on my last visit.
He was occupied with tasks, in the cash register/Main TV area, which are less than 3.5 feet apart, with the TV Remote, on a shelf, underneath the TV.
After several minutes he moved my way and I asked him, if he could turn on The Preakness Stakes; "It's on NBC".
He proceeded to state: 'I don't think we have that channel' and other useless babble, and then, in an ignorantly arrogant manner, he stated; 'Doing that is not priority'. He then foolishly asked me; "If I wanted a drink"? Which I replied; "No, I came here to watch the horse race and have a drink, not just have a drink". At that point he moved on. Something else may have been said, but he already exposed his unprofessionalism and the damage was done.
Soon after Morgan returned; stated, 'Let me get the TV on"; brought the cook, Ronnie, from the back to turn on the bar TV, while eric, had re-stationed himself, back in the bar area between the register and the bar TV.
As I watched the race's Horses Parade proceedings, along, now, with several others, who left tables and joined me, standing around the bar, observing the Preakness proceedings, 15 people-ish, eric turned around, looked most surprised at the gathered crowd, looked at me and asked me dumbfounded, would I like a drink, which I said again, 'no, baby girl is addressing that'.
I know good help is hard to find; is eric good help?!?
He lie's pretty good; 'I don't think we have that channel', that was a Bald-Face Lie , if there ever was one!
They were not crowded; maybe 60% capacity, including both outdoor areas.
They may have been understaffed, with only, he and Morgan; that does not excuse eric's below standard, unprofessional, sophomoric behavior.
I also sent a communique to their email,
"contact@oakparksocial.com";
On Sunday, and to no avail, I have not received a return response, from our neighbors at
Oak Park Social.
Apparently, eric isn't the exception, but the rule!
