OAKA Sushi House Las Vegas

My first few meals here were fantastic. However, I noticed that each return visit, the quality and freshness of the food depreciated. This was my go-to sushi place, but not anymore. I'll be looking for a new sushi restaurant. Update: I decided to go inside and enjoy a meal. It was really good! The service was great and they were very attentive. I ordered 4 rolls and ate them all. The restroom was clean too.

Simply amazing experience! Sushi was very fresh and so clean. Not overloaded with rice. Staff was very attentive.

I love this place. It's super convenient, and the service is always great. The AYCE is a very good deal, and the quality of the sushi is consistently good. My favorite rolls are the salmon lover and the fantasy, but I haven't tried a roll I didn't like.

To be honest, having this frontgirl hasting me up from the very beginning, I was way more skeptical. In reality, the place is clean, relatively quiet, doesn’t smell(!) and OK overall. The food is on the more expensive side as the portions are small (but I didn’t go with their all-you-can-eat option for 20-something, to be fair), but it was fresh and tasty. Definitely on my list to eat there again on occasion.

The food was good but couldn’t stomach the service that was provided. I needed water to refresh myself from the attitude of the waitresses, and the only thing spicier than their sass was the wasabi. Pushy, rude, and don’t dare have things on the table when they set food down. Happy Mother’s Day Oaka. The one waitress was already in a mood as we sat down and progressively worsened through the night. Very eager to take away our menus so we couldn’t order more. Will not come back. Would not recommend.

Our experience at this place was not good. Service is horrible. Food was just OK. We had the AYCE menu at 31.99 Per person, but getting orders in with the waitress was the worst experience we ever had. We only got two orders in, before our waitress ignored us, did not refill our drinks, came and collected our plates but never once asked if we wanted to place another order. There were only 2 other customers in the place and there was no excuse for that kind of behavior from a waitor. I would never recommend this place. There are many other sushi options out there that taste better and have phenomenal service. This is not one of those places. Stay away.

Very good ayce sushi on Blue Diamond! Some of the rolls here are the tastiest I’ve had, and I’m not a big sushi person. A la cart prices are bizarre though, $4.50 for one small mochi and $13 for salmon skin salad that’s the size of a small saucer plate… I definitely only recommend ayce here. Service is great too. Would return again if I’m in the area

Uni that tastes like metal, tempura rolls that are more tempura than roll, making them just dough balls. They only brought half the order of mussels, Their 2 pc takoyaki is just one small ball cut in half. Seafood salad that was a handful of lettuce with two quarter sized pieces of fish. Mushy fish on the nigiri. As well as an overbearing waitress even though I sat at the bar. Spent 75$ for about six bites of just about the worst sushi I have ever experienced.

All the elements from the food, service, and staff bring it together. The service quality was truly exceptional, everyone on board, and sushi is served at top tier presentation. Oaka is located on Blue Diamond & S. Cimarron Rd. Near Mountains Edge, definitely a go to place after visiting Red Rock Overlook. Not too far from S. 15 Freeway. This Hidden Gem has been open for 6+ years. & operated by Chief Larry with over 18+ years of Sushi Making & Restaurant experience. P.S. The secret: ...... just ask for your personal liking and let them make magic. Several items that aren't on the menu were made from scratch in front of me. The coconut jalapeño roll Chief Larry made specially for my liking was very much my dessert, no ice cream necessary I can't wait to come back!

I came here for lunch around 1pm, and it wasn't busy at all. I was seated at the bar. You can do a La carte, or AYCE. I chose AYCE lunch for $26. I thought the portions were perfect. They're small, which means you have more choices to order because you're less full! Everything was delicious. I got half orders of the white tiger roll and the hot night roll. Calamari was perfectly portioned as well. Ended with a small bowl of miso soup and green tea ice cream.

This place is amazing. I been to many sushi place around Las Vegas but Oaka have something that really gets my attention. I bring my family to Oaka sushi for the first time since new management or owner in this place. And boy! I'm telling you our server she is very nice very attentive even though you can tell she is very shy Chinese gilt. Our chef awesome food amazing very tasty and very fast service. I have nothing else to Day but good things about this place. I give them Five star great service great food excellent service. I will definitely come back. Thank you very much for amazing service and very tasty good food. A+++

The food was amazing. If I had to critique it's slightly too saucy. When I go to other sushi eatery the tempura is flat and has no crunch but this place was great. Just a small sushi place with lots of options. Overall an underrated place for sushi.

**I visited Oaka Sushi House but I could not check in because of the poor cell reception in the area** I love sushi and I found this place via DoorDash, which isn't too far from my boyfriend's house. We have a friend that used to live around the area and I never knew that this was here until DoorDash recommended it to us. Oh boy, I'm happy that we made this discovery. We placed our order via DoorDash and had it scheduled to be picked up in a half hour. Our order consisted of the following - Gyoza (5pcs), Mountain's Edge Roll (8pcs), Salmon Lover's Roll (8pcs), and California Crunch Roll (8pcs). Our order was ready right when we drove to the restaurant to pick it up. The Gyoza had a crispy, crunchy taste to it, and is always my go-to appetizer anytime I go to a Japanese restaurant. The Salmon Lover's Roll, which were topped with a lemon wedge, were full of flavor. The California Crunch Roll, which my boyfriend and I shared, were obviously very crunchy. Sushi rolls are always the best when they're fried! My boyfriend said that his Mountain's Edge Roll, which were topped with crab cakes, was delicious and tender. We loved Oaka and we hope to dine in here in the near future!

This place is such a hidden gem and I'm glad it's a local spot that it doesn't get crowded like all the ayce sushi place in China town. They have a very cozy environment too that makes you enjoy your food even more. Service is on point, the servers here are nice and the chefs are super friendly. Love this place.

Love this place! This is our go to sushi spot! We make sure to stop by here every time we drive out from California. The service is quick and the sushi tastes fresh!

Amazing Food! Larry is an incredible Chef! The Bonsai Roll, Raiders Roll, Pink Lady, and Hot Knight Roll is where it is at! The staff is super friendly and service is fast, fresh and delicious. This place is THE BEST sushi spot in town. Larry and his staff are very accommodating with my son's food allergies. We love coming here, money well spent and they have a kids all you can eat price.

High quality fish! Usually other restaurants the fish will have a strange pungent taste but this place it taste so fresh. Definitely will be coming back. Shoutout to our sushi chef Larry!

We love this sushi joint. Every time we go, we are pleased. The staff is eager to please and the food is amazing! Also, make sure to try the daily special.

Good all you can eat sushi. Have a number of delicious things on the menu. I highly recommend the Crazy jalapeño. The Katsu is good as well. Silver rolls are tasty and the jalapeño yellowtail is always a good choice with the all you can eat package quick and friendly service always easy to get into as they have lots of tables, but it's always fairly busy. A good choice when you're ready to munch down on a lot of good food.

We've been going to Oaka for about 5 years now, it's our favorite sushi joint. There's times we've even go once a week. Before Ginny left she already knew what we like and would name off rolls we'd usually get to see if we wanted them. Larry and his chefs are amazing as well :)

Food is very good and remarkably fresh Service is awful, they have one server that she has an attitude and she has some communication issues. This should not be her job.We understand busy place could be frustrating but this job requires patience. This is the second time we have this issue here. Ambiance: looks good and presentable, everyone else are amazing.

Did not even know this place existed! Fresh fish, creative rolls, clean venue. What more can you ask for??? Three of us and all you can eat sushi. We smashed some nigiri and some rolls. The server was efficient but not super talkative. No problem with the service, just used to a more interactive engagement. I will be returning to this sushi joint. Just FYI it is $30 a head for the AYCE.

What an awesome meal we had here today! We were seated at the sushi bar & our sushi chef was outstanding. He made some excellent rolls and nigiri. For apps we had the mussels, calamari, tempura shrimp, gyoza, and takoyaki. It was all really good. Especially the gyoza. For the main event.... Sushi! We tried several rolls and nigiri. To me the standouts were the Ono nigiri, tiger roll, and oaka roll. The fish was so fresh and the sauces they put on top were not overpowering like at some places. Service was excellent too. We'll definitely be coming back since we live nearby!

Food was great, sushi was fresh delicious, staff are nice except Chen, this is not the first time we visited the place because i really love the food, but Chen has an attitude, the tone of the voice seems annoyed and loud that makes me shy to other customers hearing her. I was just thinking maybe just because of her accent. The second time we went there was busy. She had the same attitude to us. I noticed that she wasn't like that to other customers. And other staff was polite, the tone of voice very respectful unlike her. So it's not about the accent lol! She has a different treatment to the customers. So sad

The sushi isn't that bad, we've had better. The 2 times we've been there they didn't have the Salmon Kama available. I'm guessing this menu item is limited ‍. Waiter/waitress service is ok, needs to be better. I'd have to ask for my orders that weren't given. Maybe just needs more sushi chefs to keep up when it gets busy at the peak times. A little more improvement will get my 5 stars.

We did the All You Can Eat Sushi -- It was DELICIOUS ! Everything was so flavorful! This restaurant is tucked into a shopping center in Mountain's Edge, so it was kind of hard to find, but so glad we stumbled onto it. Everything was extremely Fresh and so favorable ...from the appetizers to the rolls, to the green tea mochi and ice cream. We will definitely go back. Great Price for AYCE and Delicious !

Hole in the wall sushi place tucked into a strip mall in Mountains Edge. I have never been there before, but it was a sweet surprise! The interior has nice decorations, good lighting, and its very clean. The service is very friendly. They are super fast, accommodating, and very knowledgeable of the menu. Couldnt ask for a better service experience. The sushi was excellent. The chefs put a lot of work into the rolls, and any request we had was honored. The appetizer list wasnt as big as other places, but the quality was very high. All of the rolls we got were great, and the nigiri was awesome. Overall, I would highly recommend Oaka to my friends. Great service, awesome food, and a really good dining experience.

Food is great, I will keep ordering. Chefs are nice. But their servers charge different price for exact same order everytime. Last week I confronted them about this and their response at first was may the other servers are new so they don't know and then they said some of the raw material are expensive. It does not make sense to charge a different price for EXACT SAME ORDER everytime I go. I don't care about $2-$3 but it's more about ethics. I will be happy to update this reviews after few more visits.

This was the nastiest experience I have ever had! There was plastic trash in my salad. I was chewing on this plastic trash in my salad thinking it was lettuce. As I chewed on it and it wasn't breaking down I pulled it out my mouth and freaked out when I seen what it was. I couldn't believe this. Trash in my salad!! After I voiced there was trash in my salad. Literally none of the 4 staff members even apologized for this happening to me. Instead just stared. Why?! This was my first time ever in this place, I just moved up the street in a new house. I have been trying new food spots in the area I haven't tried before so I stopped here for a roll and hand roll just to get a taste. I have been trying a new food place every day till we are fully unpacked. I started with this place first out of sushi places because the reviews seemed decent. This was a huge mistake. I am blown away by this experience and I think this place is gross! So gross!

I've ordered to go and it was really delicious! fresh ingredients and nice portions! I would recommend the spicy garlic Edamame, (its amazing) and , the sexy girl roll.

We were very pleasantly surprised by this place, and at the "all-you-can-eat" option! Oftentimes, AYCE places bring your food so slowly that you get full too fast and don't order more. Or the food is not the best quality. This is not at all the case here! Our party of 5 came in for an early weeknight dinner. Their menu is huge, with so many different rolls and such to choose from. Because we were starving, we immediately ordered probably 18 rolls, calamari and shrimp tempura, an Unagi Roll, a Smoke Salmon nigiri, and some house salads. Best of my recollection after such a bacchanalian feast, these are the rolls we got: - Philadelphia Roll - TNT Roll - Kamikaze Roll - one of our favs, loved the torched salmon topping - Crunch Roll - Salmon Lover Roll - Hero Roll - Dynamite Roll - another favorite, loved the crunchy outside - Spider Roll (2 orders) - Alaskan Roll (4 orders!) - Golden Knights Roll - Orange County Roll (2 orders) - Eel Tempura Roll I thought the house salads were just ok. The dressing wasn't my favorite, and the lettuce didn't seem like ones you usually get in Japanese restaurants. We immediately got 4 of the rolls to start with, along with the tempura, and the others followed pretty quickly. I think there was a little break, and then we got the last 4-5. (The break probably happened when more customers came in, or they had a bunch of to-go orders.) Never a time when we were without rolls! I don't think we actually ordered a second round - thought about it, but were still working on the final rolls, and decided to hold off - was a good idea, as we were stuffed by the end. We ordered fresh wasabi as well, and this was such a treat! I'd never had this before, and it was a game-changer. A nice hot, but not lingering hot. Regarding level of spice, the spicy rolls were spicy, but really not so bad. The exceptions was the one with Tabasco sauce (can't remember which) - that had a good burn to it! We were incredibly impressed (only one guy making all the rolls too!), and will for sure come back. AYCE is the way to go!

The food was on par with other AYCE sushi places but the low star rating was for the slow service! You need to constantly call the server not once but multiple times to get service. It's a AYCE place but it will take awhile so be prepared! And don't be in a rush or you'll go nuts here lol. Overall on the plus side the food was good, and the big minus is the service was bad. So if you're not in a rush, and don't mind waiting it's worth it in my opinion. NOTE UPDATE: They were short staffed so my experience may not reflect this level of service. So please try it for yourself.

My friend and I go there about 3 to 4 times a month. The food is always good and the service is excellent. Ginny, our waitress, is amazing! We really enjoy our time here.

ZERO STARS! We decided to take my mother out for sushi on Mother's Day. We wanted to try a new sushi restaurant. At first the customer service seemed good, but after receiving our waters, it went downhill very quickly. The waitress constantly moved all items on the table to make room for one plate. When she came back to give us more of our order, I extended my hand to grab the plate instead of her moving and touching everything that was on the table. She gave me the NASTIEST look I have ever received from a waitress. She constantly would grab the menus from us when we wanted to keep them and we told her multiple times that we wanted to keep them as we were ordering all you can eat. The waitress had a bad attitude going forward and made the experience terrible. Not many bad reviews on yelp, but on Google reviews it shows that this place has argued with customers, had negative reviews and they were completely awful. I would not recommend this place and I will NEVER be back. I hope more people will speak up regarding their terrible service. Absolutely disgusting how we were treated.

We came from LA to here. A friend had highly recommended this place and said if we ever came to Las Vegas we needed to stop here. We of course made the pitch stop here and it was so worth it. I love sushi and have high standard. This place is amazing; the sushi taste so fresh and Larry is great, he made the experience so much better. I highly recommend this place

Good food and good service - somewhere we would come back to. One of the most interesting rolls we tried had banana on top which was a surprising good combo with avocado. The sashimis (especially yellowtail) were good quality cuts of fish that tasted fresh.

My new favorite sushi place. Fresh and affordable all-you-can-eat. And, Staff is very friendly.

Walked in by myself for lunch. Place was empty, staff was accommodating. Ordered Nigiri, which was not bad and then a half roll, the roll was very fishy tasting. And felt warm, which right away was a red flag. IMO there's plenty of places that serve fresher tasting sushi with a wider menu, I don't think I'll be back!

Oaka is probably at the bottom of the Japanese sushi spots I like. I have this thing of determining if a sushi place is Korean or Japanese. It's a pretty standard spot. Nothing special. I don't think it'll be anyone's favorite sushi spot in town. The menu is very small for appetizers and for nigiri. They have the standard nigiri options. Lunch and Dinner are the same except for uni and sweet shrimp and like four special dinner rolls/items. Rice to fish ratio is on the better side of the spectrum. Rolls aren't overly large so you can try multiple rolls without getting too full. So good roll size. Dessert selection is small. At lunch it's ice cream only and then at dinner they have a mocha option. I think they need more servers than they had available because they were slow to getting to tables to take orders or take finished plates. Not a big deal, just except a more relaxed and longer meal. Nothing was stand out about the place or the items they offer. I'd give it a 3.5 but it's COVID and I'll round up to 4. They followed distancing guidelines and mask mandate. There wasn't anything I remember ordering that I ordered more than once. I probably wouldn't return here unless I really didn't want to travel to somewhere better. I will give them props for not over saucing stuff.

I don't normally write bad reviews but this was this must have been the worst dining experience I've ever had 1. food took 40+ minutes to come out (restaurant was not even busy. Maybe only about 1/4 of the tables/bar seats were filled) 2. fish was not fresh at all 3. about a third of what we ordered did not come out 4. chefs and waiters were obviously talking about us. Probably could tell we getting impatient and that some of our food was missing. Yet they did not check in on us at all. Seemed like they were purposely avoiding us. Even as the other customers left and we were the last ones in the restaurant, they just stood around instead of updating us on our order or asking us if we wanted anything else since our plates were cleared This is our second time leaving here unhappy. Somehow they have good reviews? So we thought the first time was just a bad day for them, but nope. Truly just bad service. If I could give 0 stars I would

I happened to be in the neighborhood and was hungry, so I stepped in. The miso soup was hot and what I needed. As was the tempura, which was spot on: light, not oily, no aftertaste. The rice was a bit dry, and the salad was beyond drowning in too much dressing and not very much. Copious amounts of wonderful hot green tea was gratefully consumed. I appreciated the attention of the server, even if she was a bit short at times (maybe a language thing...). I will probably come back for their all you can eat sushi during dinner hours. Place is roomy and clean with bar seating.

I'm always nervous trying a new sushi place since poorly prepared raw fish is always going to end in disaster. Fortunately, Oaka delivered on both quality and flavor! I ordered the X-Fire roll and was in spicy tuna heaven. The roll was decent sized and super reasonable for the price.

Service was horrible. I called and wanted to speak with the manager about this and I was rudely hung up on. Never will I recommend this place to anyone. The food is okay not the best sushi.

So glad we found this hidden gem. Lived in the area for 5 ish years now and never knew it was here! The AYCE dinner is about $27/person and has a lot of rolls, nigiri, and appetizers to choose from. My favorites were the kamikaze, the lasagna, and firecracker tuna roll. Anything place with seated salmon is a GO for me . They also have Sake and Wine priced pretty well around $6-7 a glass. Service was pretty good, atmosphere is nothing fancy but they played my kinda music which I appreciated.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was! First off, they easily seated my party of 8 adults and 2 kids on a Saturday night. They, also, took reservations which is always nice, "especially in times of Covid." The place didn't seem packed with ppl which relieved the anxiety of eating out. This was my 3rd or 4th time eating out. I order my "usual order" of nigiris: Cajun albacore, garlic tuna, fried shrimp heads. This is my Goyemon order so, I basing my taste buds on that. And my Oaka order really lived up to my Goyemon order lol Fish was a large portion compared to rice, fish was fresh and the major kicker / difference was the sauce. Light ponzu at the bottom of plate = YUMMERS I'm not normally a "sushi roll" person but, I surely had lots of those here because they were THAT GOOD. We tried quite a few and all were very good. The Golden Knights one and the one topped with slice of ribeye stood out the most. DELISH!!!!! Again, they had sauce at bottoms of each plate. Ponzu/yuzu sauce! Hey, sauce never hurt nobody, yummers After eating, we realized no one took photos of the food cuz we were all shocked at this place being "just as good as Goyemon!" (((Can u tell we all love Goyemon!??))) WE WILL BE BACK!

How did I not know about this place? I came here after the world reopened to enjoy a nice meal out (with a mask) and feel a bit normal. I had passed this place dozens of times as it happens to be in the same plaza where I take my dog son for his baths. Finally, I went, and was pleasantly surprised. I made a reservation for me and my mates and were sat promptly at that time. Our servers were super nice and recommended some awesome sake! They made sure to check on our orders multiple times and never hesitated to make sure that we were doing good and happy with our experience. Not only was the service great, the Sushi itself was fantastic! Nothing tasted frozen and it was all so fresh! Once the world is safe again, I will for sure come back and enjoy a bit more of some AYCE Delicious sushi and sake over here at Oaka. Oh and again, dont forget to try a few of their drinks!

This is one of the best sushi places I've been to. My best friend took me here for my birthday. The staff was very friendly. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and were given the option of the sushi bar or tables for seating. We did AYCE for dinner. The selection of rolls was so large, and it was difficult to decide what to get because everything looked so delicious. Their seaweed salad was the BEST I've ever had! It was so fresh and tasty. The muscles were to die for! We tried several different rolls, and every single one was so flavorful. We were out of control ordering rolls, so I lost track of what was what.

This is definitely our first and last time in this restaurant!!! if you read the other bad review they are definitely right about the service,it's terrible!!! When we arrive there was a party of 2 and our party ( party of 7 ) its not even busy at all but the food took forever to arrive...That lady server was so rude!! It says on the Menu that there's automatic gratuity for party of 8 or more but they added the auto grat on our bill even though we're only 7 ,we ask the server and he said the manager told them to add it WOW ... We didn't mind tipping but not for bad service ,anyways we just pay for the gratuity anyway since that will be the last time !!! There's way better sushi place than this place don't waste your money and time ...

Sorry it is our first and last time there. We were there on 9th of June around 4-5pm. The sushi cook just hated his life. He was super mad with huge attitude whole time we were there. We sat at the bar and ordered some nigiri sushi. As soon as the cook saw the ticket he sighed loud like we could literally hear. the rice was way over cooked like chewing gum plus the cook "knead" the rice and hardly packed them to shape them. The dried seaweed around was ripped. He sighed at least twice during he was making my order and he through one of the sushi very hard to the ground (I guess he didn't like the shape of the sushi he made ‍) He passed the sushi without saying anything he literally just pushed the dish to us. We ordered Yum Yum scallop but there is teeny tiny piece of the scallop and the most of California roll. It was very hard to find a scallop but tons fake crabs lol Same as spicy albacore. I couldn't even find albacore in there. there were only spicy tuna. I guess he just had a bad day but today was our precious going out night. Perfectly ruined it. The sushi cook was Korean men. If you wanna work at the Japanese restaurant you should respect The Japanese culture as well. I've never had that rude Japanese chef.

It's good food! Unfortunately it's not perfect, the waiter at the time was very complicated but the food did arrive fast. Also the A/C was very strong but still a comfortable restaurant.

The owner Jikun is very kind and patient. He is always ready to take our orders and never makes us wait too long. There is a Hispanic sushi chef as well that we enjoy very much. He showed me son how to make a roll once and he's very polite. The food is always fresh and delicious. I'm leaving less stars because of the hostess that is not very nice. We've been coming here for a year and have had several poor interactions with her. Today was our last straw when she questioned my sons age. She stated "you told me last year he was 9". I said yes because he was 9 and is still 9 until July 9th. He was born in 2013." She walked away and didn't say anything. I felt very embarrassed to have been talked to like that and decided I will no longer be bringing my service here. It's unfortunate because the owner is absolutely wonderful.
