"The extremely East Bay event is back: Drake’s releases its 4th annual 510 Malt Liquor and takes the taps at The Uptown Nightclub in Oakland. Also expect Brass Monkeys, they say. Music and DJs are on the bill, too, with East Bay punk and surf rock bands plus an SF hip-hop group. Details: 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The Uptown on Telegraph, $8 advanced tickets, $10 day-of." - Caleb Pershan

My favorite way to move between SF and Oakland! If you have a clipper card, you can just load it for a roundtrip ride and it’ll charge/refund accordingly. A little station inside the ferry where you can get your parking validated for free!

Taking the ferry from Jack London Square in Oakland to San Francisco is the inexpensive, scenic and easy way for a tourist like us to get to The Embarcadero, Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf. You can purchase the tickets on board the ferry. Free parking, with validation on board the ferry is available for the garage at Washington and 2nd Streets, located only a short walk from the ferry terminal. The ferry is well maintained. The crew is friendly and helpful. The restrooms were clean and well-stocked.

We took a day trip from Oakland to San Francisco and then came back at night. Both were great trips. An inexpensive and fun way to get across and enjoy great views. My only complaints are that the parking validation situation was confusing (and the staff member we talked to didn't know enough to be helpful) and the bar is cash only.

Enjoyed our ride on the ferry ⛴️ from Oakland to San Francisco!

The ferry is a literal breath of fresh air compared to BART. It has been life-changing to have a commute that rejuvenates instead of taking away.

Google
We live in Sausalito across the street from the ferry station and it is so nice to just walk down the street and take the ferry to the city. The only bad thing is that they let all the cycles go first. They should let all the pedestrians first then the cycles. The ride is pretty smooth and fast

One of my favorite and peaceful escapes is hoping on the ferry to go sightseeing in San Francisco watching the waves and sipping on a nice cup of tea it’s so relaxing I enjoy this service one of the best ways to commute throughout the Bay Area.

Google
Ferry ticket guy said our trip will be between 15-20 minutes to get from Jack London square to Chase center. Suh-weet!

Yelp
We had such a wonderful day on the ferry! We started by taking the Jack London ferry to the SF Ferry Building. These ferries have great front windows, offering gorgeous views along the way. From there, we hopped on the ferry from SF to Sausalito. This one felt a bit older and didn't offer the same scenic window views, but the staff were definitely easy on the eyes--so no complaints there! The round-trip prices are reasonable, and the ferries were always on time, making the experience even better. I can't wait for my next trip!

Yelp
When visiting friends in Oakland or San Francisco, my top mode of transportation is ferry. Taking a ferry ride in between city ports is such an inexpensive, easy, and beautiful way to travel. One can purchase ferry tickets through an app, stroll onto the ship, easily find a seat indoors or outside on deck, and arrive after a seamless trip to either side. Plenty of departure and arrival times to choose from during the week and weekend too. Why not experience the Bay from on the Bay?

Eric D.

Yelp
The ride on the ferry is very scenic going from Alameda to SF. The staff and crew are amazing and professional. The trip was at a reasonable amount of time. It was nice being able to use my Clipper card.

Yelp
The San Francisco Bay Ferry - Oakland Ferry Terminal is OK. It gets the job done. Oakland Ferry Terminal is located at the corner of Clay and Water Streets in Downtown Oakland. It's right next to the Port of Oakland's main office and is part of Jack London Square, the Port's waterfront district with shops, restaurants, bars, and more. A trail runs along the water here and there's a sizable lawn (Ferry Lawn). However, other than that, there's not much here. There are benches along the water and other seating nearby, both covered and uncovered (mostly uncovered). Despite the lack of amenities in the immediate vicinity, the area did look like it had been refreshed relatively recently, so that's nice. The terminal was clean and appeared to be properly maintained. My nieces and another kid were doing cartwheels on the lawn while we waited. I used the public restroom, entrance facing Water Street, in the Ferry Landing building at 10 Clay Street. It was decently clean for a public restroom in Downtown Oakland. The Ferry Landing building looked like it might have shops and restaurants for the terminal. If it did, they were all closed the day of our visit (a national holiday). I know the building is home to Rosenblum Cellars. We parked in the pay garage one block north of the terminal. The entrance we used was on Clay Street near 2nd Street. You can't miss it. The garage had plenty of open spaces and is conveniently located close to the terminal. The aforementioned corner at Clay and Water is also a great pick-up and drop-off point. When it comes to mass transit in the Bay Area, the San Francisco Bay Ferry and its terminals are nicer and feel safer and more comfortable than BART and its stations. For more information on the San Francisco Bay Ferry itself including its routes, how to get tickets, and our experience from the Oakland Ferry Terminal to downtown San Francisco, read my review for the San Francisco Bay Ferry here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/san-francisco-bay-ferry-san-francisco-4.

Yelp
I am glad to have found this option to commute and visit the city. The service is very efficient and the free 12 hour parking in the garage saves me getting through the traffic approaching bay bridge AND toll! The overall cost is actually cheaper even considering a motorbike ride to city and parking there for 8 hours! Definitely something I'd keep going back to.

David M.

Yelp
Very pleasant public transportation. Efficient clipper card tap on, tap off. Fares are reasonable and it's a bypass to hectic travels to the city. Boats are kept clean and it's rare that it gets packed. A great way to travel.

Sharlene M.

Yelp
I normally enjoy taking the ferry however today everything was fine up until we got ready to exit on the way home the big old white guy yelled at me and my daughter as we were getting ready to head out he had unlatched the safety rope and I didn't here him say to wait so as me and my child proceeded to head towards the exit he yells "wait! You need to learn how to listen!" I told him I didn't hear him. Anyways my child is only 5 she was so shook on how that worker yelled at us she kept asking me why he was so mean and how come he yelled at us instead of just telling us. I'm good I will not be riding ferry anymore Id rather drive all the way to SF then to get yelled at like a child in front of my child.

Yelp
This is a great way to commute to SF, Oakland, Alameda, and Vallejo. The schedule is pretty frequent and the timings are good. This is a way more convenient way to commute than car, bus, or BART. The boats are very very clean! The staff was kind and helpful. I loved taking in the views of the bay!

Jonathan P.

Yelp
I think the weather had something to do with it. It was a gorgeous Wednesday in August. Nevertheless, I had the best time taking the morning ferry from Oakland to SF for an appointment. The boat was on time, it wasn't crowded, and it was clean. I sat inside next to a window. It had been a while since I took the ferry so it was nice to see the sites from the bay point of view. After my appointment, I had some time before the next ferry was out in the early afternoon so I had lunch at the Ferry Building. On my return to Oakland, I sat in outside and watch the city transform from its enormity to the distant skyline from Oakland as I was enjoying whiskey from the bar, neat. Top 5 days this summer.

Yelp
My first ferry ride from Oakland to SF So super excited to finally be able to do this !! At first I was kinda confused about how to get tickets You can either download the app or buy your ticket inside the Ferry Price is $5.75 one way You can purchase your return ticket at the same time When I arrived there was a long line. I immediately thought OH NOOO I'm not going to be able to catch this one .... but low and behold I was able to!! YAY To my amazement there is a bar inside the Ferry with some snacks That was a great surprise The ride was awesome Beautiful views of the bay The Ferry arrived to SF before I could even finish my drink This method of transportation is so much easier than driving into SF I can't wait to do it again

Yelp
Such a great option & experience while in the Bay! We decided to take the ferry from Oakland to San Francisco this past Sunday because we didn't want to deal with the road closures and traffic from Bay to Breakers or the Giants game. We parked in the garage in Jack London Square--we could've parked on the street or a lot, but I figured the garage would be safer, and it was and I worried way less. With validation, I think I paid like $12 for parking noon to about 6. The ferry runs every 20 minutes, so I used the app to buy tickets for the nearest departure, which was about 10 minutes away. I think the tickets for 3 people came out to $13 for a one way trip. Boarding was very easy, there were a ton of seating options, and the ride was much faster than I anticipated--I think it said 40 minutes but was about half of that. We departed right behind the Ferry Building. Heading back, we paid the same amount and had a quick stop in Alameda before returning to Oakland. The person checking tickets as we departed was really stressed out and bossy. Not sure why they were checking literally right as people were about to walk into shore and not during boarding, during the ride, or at least as folks lined up to walk down the ramp. I just feel like there was a better process and that barking, "Hey, you!" isn't super necessary. Overall, I really loved the ferry and plan to use it again and again. It was really fun and accessible--really fair prices, seating for families (bench seats with a table perfect for eating a meal).

Ricca Cathrina E.

Yelp
Always a great idea to do a quick trip to SF for a lunch or dinner. Very convenient and the process and ride is not overwhelming. There is parking nearby and parking can be validated. Clipper card users get discounted fare.

Han F.

Yelp
$4.50 one way with clipper card. Not bad for $9 round tip for a beautiful ferry ride from Oakland to SF and back. The ride was so smooth. Plenty of seats but opted to stand on side of the ferry to get the afternoon and evening wind in my air. You can bring drinks and food on the ride. Bathroom is also available on board. We opted to park at 101 Washington St parking lot (across the street from the theatre) and you can validate your parking upon return ride by scanning your ticket for up to 9 hrs. This is a great option if you're not in a rush and want a spectacular view of the Bay, and prefer to not ride on bart.

Brian B.

Yelp
An intimate experience of the Bay. Easy peasy super quick walk from Jack London Square in Oakland and you are at the dock to catch the ferry to San Francisco. When going from Oakland to San Francisco you have a great view of the city at the front of the ferry. I thought it was pretty cool going under the Bay Bridge too. You can also go to the back of the ferry boat and stand outside. Watch the water churn from the propellers and say hello to the occasional seagull trailing alongside. Oh, I saw a quaint squadron of three pelicans flying in formation near the surface of the water. Magical cool. Tips: Buy your tickets on board and you are good to go! Cost is $7 one way. Be aware that a queue will start forming and get quite long during prime commute hours.

Jesse C.

Yelp
A great way to travel the Bay ya diggg...with many stops throughout the bay you can enjoy a relaxing glass of wine, a stiff drink, or a cold one while cruising the bay with a great view... Staff is way kool...very knowledgeable of places to go in bay... Cash only at the bar... Tickets cash, debit, or credit card...

Anh-Dao T.

Yelp
I live within 15 minutes (on a good weekday morning) of three ferry terminals. The Jack London terminal is my favorite because they offer free parking at the nearby Washington Street lot. You know the lot - it's the big one across from the theater. Which means you will have a good chance of finding parking, unlike the Bay Farm and Main Street terminals. One thing I do NOT like is that I am essentially passing the Main Street terminal to get to this one, only to get on the ferry and go across the estuary back to Main Street. They pick up at this location before heading out to SF. So if you're super impatient like me, you may just want to head right to the city so in that case - go to Main Street or Bay Farm. It's also a little crazy to me how the Clipper prices for the ferry is less than the Transbay bus. I wish I was closer to the terminals so that it could be an every day commute for me. It sure beats being on the bus.

Yelp
Love riding the ferry! I started a month ago as a safer alternative to BART and it is so much more pleasant and might even be cheaper when you factor in free parking. Parking is the one reason that I took off a star. They have implemented a new parking ticket system, and it just does not work. Even when it does work, it is awkward and slows the process down. It is not intuitive and fails 4 or 5 different ways. There is no way that they can run close to capacity and scan dozens of these parking tickets in the couple minutes it takes to load or unload. They may have to implement parking validation machines on the vessels. Another plus of the ferry is that the crews are great. You feel better taken care of on a ferry than you do on other public transit.

Julio P.

Yelp
Great service, I love the ride, its so smooth in the morning most people take a nap. For the evening ride, I get a cocktail from their bar and relax myself. I'll never take BART again!!

Tigra C.

Yelp
Now that I've experienced the ferry, I will never ask family to drive me to SFO ever again. We arrived at the Oakland ferry docks around 10:45am, or so and waited for the ferry. (We took a Lyft to the dock, so I cannot comment on the parking situation.) There was a posted timetable in case you couldn't check the times online, and other posted signs letting us know that we can purchase our tickets once aboard the boat. Once we boarded, the ticket buyers stayed on the bottom level to purchase the tickets, while the others went and found seats. It was $13.20 roundtrip for each adult (they didn't have any college student discounts) and $6.60 roundtrip for ages 5-18. Credit cards were accepted. The bottom/main deck was spacious and practically empty on a Monday late-morning. There was a snack bar on the bottom/main deck as well as lots of wall outlets. I met my party on the upper deck; they were outside enjoying the weather and view. Be ye forewarned that if you sit in any of the outer-lying seats, you will get sprayed, and the water is dirty. It's a light spray, but still... An employee came around and gave us printed timetables so that we could plan our return trip times. The ride from OAK to SFO seemed really quick; it couldn't have been more than 15-20 minutes. Our tickets were collected as we exited the ferry and approached the docking gates. An employee was nice enough to show me (he actually did it for me) how to turn in our tickets at the ticket-taking machine (I'm sure there's a much more elegant name for it) and we were off to enjoy the city. Quick. No traffic. Economical. Stress free. This is my new favorite way to travel between O-town & the Frisco!

Teresa S.

Yelp
We took this ferry from Jack London Square in Oakland to San Franscisco pier area. It worked out very well since we were heading to Fisherman's wharf for lunch. I think the fare was $7 one way which was fine and worth the beautiful views. The staff were okay and not too friendly. I was a little disappointed in how outdated the ferry/boat was and felt like it should be more updated for the fees and amount of people being transported daily. However, the ferry was clean and they offered light snacks and drinks for sale. We took the BART back into Oakland since we were closer to the metro. I would take this mode of transportation again.

Michelle F.

Yelp
I have experience riding the ferry years ago-until recently. Had family in town and we took Ferry to SF from the Oakland Jack London terminal (round trip). You can now purchase tickets via an app or use your clipper card, cash, check, etc. they make payment for date really convenient. Once onboard you can purchase beer, wine or cocktails ($7 each) and lite snacks (chips, etc). Seating is available upstairs, downstairs as well as outside. The views are nice of Alameda, Bay Bridge, SF skyline, Oakland skyline as well as several shipping ports. Restrooms are available on the Ferry too.

Greg S.

Yelp
This is a good terminal to catch the ferry from. I went on a weekend, so can't comment on the weekday commuter crowds. We took the ferry across to the Ferry Building, and then walked the few blocks (20 minutes) to the new SFMOMA. It was an easy walk. - you can purchase your tickets on the boat - you can use your Clipper Card (transit, not cash) and save a couple bucks. To use your Clipper Card, you just tag at the machine as you EXIT the boat (down the gangway). - you can get 12 hours free parking at the parking garage at Washington Street (be sure to validate the parking ticket just inside the glass doors as you start down the gangway) either when you get on the boat, or when returning. - you can buy drinks and cocktails on the boat.... The trip is a nice alternative to driving across the bay and having to hunt for parking. And, you feel like you are getting out and doing something besides just driving to and from the city. I like it.

Juicey J.

Yelp
JUST WOW! First time with the family and the lady working the concession was totally rude. Cheer up lady. This job isn't for you. If your having a bad day, I'd suggest you act and pretend you want to be there. Hope your day gets better.

Sunil R.

Yelp
I took the Ferry acting the role of a tourist with some of town guests for the first time...loved it. Parking is right there and free. Sure beats traffic...I wish I could do this everyday.

Niki M.

Yelp
This is, in my humble opinion, a wonderful hidden gem of San Francisco. Taking a boat on the Bay, especially on a clear day, is one fo the most beautiful activities in Northern California, and because this is technically just a no frills commuter ferry, the price is super cheap. Not the fastest way to get from place to place, but one of the most pleasant.

Libby R.

Yelp
This last trip to SF, we decided to stay at an AirBnB in Oakland right off the Bart. While I was yelping what was in the area, I found the Oakland Ferry and thought that may be a nice alternative to the Bart. We decided to walk the mile over to the dock and I was disheartened to realize that because it was a holiday weekend, the schedule was a bit off. We had a could of hours to kill. So we started walking around and had a great time at Jack London Square located close by. A few hours later, we piled onto the ferry and enjoyed the beautiful views and we arrived at the Ferry Building (my favorite part of SF)! It wasn't too expensive and a worth while experience for anyone who hasn't tried it or wants to forgo the Bart or the drive.

D B.

Yelp
Taking the ferry to SF is so much better than taking BART for multiple reasons. (1) The fare is comparable to taking BART. It was $4.50 one way if paying with a Clipper card or by using the Passage app. (2) Much better views of the Bay Area than from the windows on BART. (3) You can sit or stand outdoors and enjoy the fresh air unlike being inside a BART train. (4) You can eat and drink on the ferry. There's even food and beverages sold onboard. (5) Parking is free at the nearby garage when you validate your parking ticket. Unfortunately, the machine to validate tickets upon our return to the terminal was not working and we were told that the people that staffed the garage were aware of this. When we got back to the garage there wasn't an agent at the booth to exit so we pressed the "call" button and the person we spoke with opened the gate for us so we could leave.

Jane C.

Yelp
Brought my child on the ferry for the first time today, and he LOVED it. Parking was easy and free at a parking garage near Jack London Square with a validated ticket from the ferry. I used my Clipper card which gets a discounted price compared to the regular adult cash fare. The ferry was generally clean, although the window sills were a little gross (I noticed only because my kid's hands were all over it!). The ride was pretty smooth, but I got mild motion sickness (I may be more sensitive than the average person). It was a nice ferry ride overall with very nice views, and it wasn't too crowded. Today's itinerary (I highly recommend this for a fun outing with kids): - Ferry ride from Jack London Square to Pier 41 - Walk around Fisherman's Wharf - Muni ride from Fisherman's Wharf to Ferry Building - Lunch at Ferry Building - Ferry ride from Ferry Building back to Jack London Square

Anthony I.

Yelp
THE best way to get into the SF! I hated and avoided SF for so long because of traffic and the lack of parking/high cost of parking in the city. I really enjoy bringing the family to the city now. Enjoy the views and before you know it you're already there. Tons of ride-share/taxis for getting around the city. Parking in the Jack London Square garage is free with validation at the ferry terminal.

Lynnette H.

Yelp
Love using the Ferry to get to the Giants game. Roundtrip $15 Parking at the park is $30 so with the two of us it was a draw as far as $ savings. But it keeps you out of SF Traffic and the long walk to your car. Validate your ticket for free parking at Oakland. Bar on board and lots of other happy fans to chat with great start to the game experience.

Court N.

Yelp
Please do not buy a roundtrip ticket from Oakland to SF you will have to buy another on the trip back left the Giants game last Thursday only to find out the round trip ticket we had bought on the trip over to the Ball park would not be good for the ride home. Not only were we told it would be good but also we would have to stand in line till all boarded. Not sure we were last to board there was another couple and were told we might not be able to make the trip back because of the amount of people. We are very disappointed with the way this was handled, very unprofessional for all who were involved and also very hostel feeling like we were getting ripped off and there was nothing we could do about it. Don't get ripped off and buy a roundtrip ticket a one way only! What a joke and a scam!

Vivian L.

Yelp
Be wary of using your Clipper card on the ferry. The person who tagged us off, tagged us off at Oakland (where we had just boarded), instead of Pier 41, and we got changed FULL price at $10.70, instead of $5.10 single way. We ended up buying another ticket on the boat! They use a handheld device for Clipper cards tag off/on at certain ferry docks, and that leaves room for human error.

Jonathan L.

Yelp
If you're going to San Francisco...no, don't say "wear flowers in your hair", say "take the ferry". When you're on the water it's all good and it's spacious and fast. Don't toil driving and parking in SF. Take a smooth ride or "voyage" as they put it. Yep, when you travel by boat, it's a voyage, indeed, and a lovely one at that.

Grace L.

Yelp
It's a beautiful and peaceful way to commute from the east bay to San Francisco. You will see the amazing view of the Bay from a different angle. Once you're in the city, you won't have to worry about finding a parking or paying additional fees. I find this commute less stressful than Bart, Bus, or Car, especially when there's traffic on Bay Bridge.

Photo D.

Yelp
What a great experience, literally hop on board, pay your fare and go head up to the outside decks and enjoy the view and seabreeze.

Sharee g.

Yelp
So easy and painless, than actually driving to the City, paying toll....sitting in inevitable traffic(on the bridge and on the streets of SF) paying high prices to park in a garage. Taking the ferry is the way to go!! $13 round trip. You pay when you board the ferry, or if you have a clipper card you can use that too. They validate parking upto 12hrs. What more can an East Bay girl ask for? Get on the ferry!!

Monique W.

Yelp
Wine on a commute? Sign me up! I think I need to get a job in SFO just so I can take this ferry everyday. We went at Sunset after a wine tasting just to catch some great views. it was fast, relaxing and had some soul searching views. The concession stand on lower level has snacks, wine and other drinks. I used my Clippr card to board and my boyfriend bought his ticket at the concession area. Boat bathrooms creep me out, but there was one available if you can't hold it. Just try it once and enjoy your hair in the wind. (Titanic pose?)

Brett M.

Yelp
Ferry was very convenient for me during my trip. I stayed at a hotel in Oakland that was literally across the parking lot. Outside of the convenience, I was extremely disappointed in the staff. They bark orders between themselves and mutter thinks under their breath when selling the tickets on the ferry. When we tried to ask them a question they said oh, (h*ll) I have no idea. Later in the week I saw one of them talking with someone that spoke very little English. They had trouble understanding them, I watched and heard the woman look at them and say your in the US you should be speaking English. While I understand her frustration, I would never expect that to be ok from anyone much less the municipal employee. Ferry is great but the people where awful all week. Fire them all and start over

Anya F.

Yelp
I love this ferry! I always feel very relaxed, well taken care of, and safe. The one time I left my keys on the ferry, I was able to promptly locate them after two phone calls with the ferry service - amazing. Definitely 1000 times better than BART or driving, the best way to travel around the bay with excellent customer service to boot.

Chad T.

Yelp
Can there be any signage to make up for the staff that never speaks. Confusing amount of boats and not one has its destination on it or a well marked place to line up. How many people go to south San Francisco on accident, well including me the staff says it happens a lot! Good luck hearing the captain mumble into a loudspeaker.

Doug M.

Yelp
Our favorite family weekend trip during the summer. Park at Washington parking garage (remember to get ticket validated at entrance before you get on the boat). Highly recommend the clipper card but if not try to be one of the first ones in line to buy tickets inside (weekends sometimes take 20-30 min to buy ticket and you miss the ride. We stop at pier 41 play arcade games for an hour, eat lunch and then take the ferry back. $7 per adult unless you have a clipper card. Kids are $3.50. Prices are each way. Have fun

Anna V.

Yelp
I am a big fan of the ferry. The one to Oyster Point in SSF is super nice with newer interiors. The parking garage at Jack London Square validates for 12 hours with a ferry ticket. It's a nice ride to SF without having to deal with disgusting BART trains and [some] BART people. Restrooms, electrical outlets, and a bar on board - what more can you ask for a commute or fun ride to the other side of the bay?

Kristin G.

Yelp
Chris is a horrible employee ; extremely rude and doesn't have ANY people skills, he should be fired immediately!!!!! I experienced the ferry during a work outing and was very disrespected while exiting the bathroom and getting back to my seats with my aquantinces. He treated me like a GI JOE drop OUT and was extremely rude. I'm sure to hear an excuse that he was just taking his job SERIOUSlLY but that wasn't the case.

Julie C.

Yelp
Today, my daughter and I boarded our first transbay ferry. With BART closed for Labor Day, we needed to get across the Bay in the most stress-free way possible--and the Ferry is it. If you're a Clipper card user, it simply deducts from your balance so long as you remember to scan your card at boarding and exiting. Parking is FREE at 101 Washington in JLS if you validate(do so at the beginning and end of your trip.) They do allow food and drink and there are plenty of outlets indoors if you need to charge our phone. You may also purchase food and snacks indoors. The views alone are worth the price.

Ben H L.

Yelp
I paid $7.50 for a ferry ride from Jack London Square to AT&T Park on Friday night. I had to buy a ticket on the boat. Other than a few rocky waves, the ride was enjoyable and I didn't mind the crowd of Giants fans, especially those who flooded the ferry bar to get one last drop of alcohol before they go into the park. My main beef with the Ferry pertained for newbies, like I was when I boarded. I was not aware that the AT&T Park ballgame trip was more expensive than the regular commuter trip and that special paper tickets for people to print out were the norm for that ferry ride. I also didn't know that I couldn't use my Clipper Card cash to pay for it. All this information was on their website and none of it was available at the ferry boarding area. I kept searching that area looking for a kiosk or a ticket machine so that I could buy that paper ticket that one of the passengers recommended for me to do. I'm sure the ferry people on board the boat would LOVE for a machine to take care of the ticketing responsibilities...it's 2015 and Caltrain, BART, and most all other ticket agencies have ticket machines that do most of the work. Before taking the ferry, I highly recommend going to their site and reading up on the times and prices for your specific trip. There wasn't a ticket office near Jack London Square despite some rumors that there was a ticketing office but they preferred to stay incognito because they would rather have passengers board the ship to purchase tickets.

Linda M.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite go to things to do when I play hooky from work. It goes something like this. Park at Jack London Square. Get your parking ticket validated as you board the boat. Relax and enjoy the quick, comfortable, scenic and affordable ride to San Francisco. Tool around the Ferry Building. Use the restroom because it's less noxious than the one on the ferry. Get an over priced but delicious Ahi Burger at Gotts, or walk up to the Waterfront for a quieter meal. Walk a little further up to the Exploratorium, people watching along the way. Play for awhile at the Exploratorium. Come back to the Ferry Building, taste every one of the Stonehouse Olive Oils and then buy some to bring home. Basil is my favorite. Do this last so you don't have to carry it around. Get back on the boat, and enjoy the ride back to Oakland. Stop at BevMo at Jack London Square, 'cause there's always something you need at BevMo. Go home.

Yelp
Location is perfect!!! Park at JLS parking garage. Taste at Rosenblum while you wait for the ferry. Get your parking ticket validated. Sit on the top deck and enjoy the view on the ride to SF. It's so easy, it makes you want to never drive into SF again.

Yelp
I took the 6:20 pm ferry from Oakland to San Francisco today. I am a new commuter to Oakland. A ferry showed up around 6:20 and the workers allowed me and the woman ahead of me to swipe our Clipper Cards. Then the workers said the ferry was not going to San Francisco, it was just dropping off people. So, we had to take the next ferry. I'm a new commuter to Oakland, so when I boarded the next ferry, I was confused and I tried to explain to the captain that I had already swiped my Clipper Card on the other ferry that wouldn't take us -- their mistake. He was angry and screaming at me that he was the "Captain" and I must buy a ticket or get off. All he had to do was to tell me to talk to the ticket people to help me. I didn't want to pay twice. I don't care about the money -- I care about the point. The "Captain" said he didn't care that I paid for the other ferry that wasn't going to SF. He was nasty and frightening and clearly hates women. This behavior is not acceptable in 2019. Women are people now. This Captain needs to help his passengers and not verbally abuse and scare them. He must be fired!!!!!!!!!! #MeetToo #Oakland #LibbySchaaf

Yelp
Decided to experience a new way of getting to SF and it was fun. I'm not big on public transportation but gotta expose myself to it once in awhile I guess! Luckily, it was on a sunny day or else it would have been freeeeeeezing. Wait till it's summer time to try this out so you can stand on top and get a nice view of the bay. Parking Structure: I forgot what street it is but it's right across from Jack London Theater. Bring your parking ticket to get it validate right before you hop on to the ferry. It's free for the whole day! Look for a Bevmo and go behind the building to wait for departure. Timing is very accurate so don't be late. Their winter schedule is limited compared to the summer. Once you get on the boat, start lining up to buy your ticket. It's $12.50 I think, for round trip. You'll give it to them once you get off. It took about 15-20 minutes to arrive to the first destination which is at the Ferry Building. It's closer toward Market St, Gotts Burger etc. And the second arrival is at Pier 41, which is where everyone gets off. I didn't interact with their staff much but on the way back from SF to Oakland, the guy was really nice. He walked around to check if we needed anything and helped people throw away their drinks. Oh yea they sell beverage & snacks as well!
