Had a really solid stay at this Marriott downtown. Three things stood out:The view from our room was awesome - great skyline views that made the stay feel special. Worth asking for a higher floor. The room was nice - clean, modern, and spacious. Everything was in good shape and felt updated. Good digs overall.Breakfast was excellent. Plenty of variety, everything fresh, and they kept it well stocked. Actually worth getting up for.Staff was helpful and the downtown location worked great for getting around. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here on a business trip and had a great experience. The location is extremely convenient, plenty of restaurants nearby and just a short walk from where I had my meetings. The staff were all very kind and helpful. A special shout-out to Rena at the front desk, who made my check-in experience smooth and welcoming. She was respectful, friendly, and took the time to explain the surrounding area, which I really appreciated. The room was spacious, updated, and very comfortable, with a wonderful view. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely come back.

After trying early 15 properties in the San Francisco area, this hotel finally met standards of great service across all operations - and at all times of the day from graveyard shift to busy mornings. This property has awesome, energetic, sincere, friendly and hospitable team members who strive authentically to make a stay excellent, relaxing and homely. ||Starting with first impressions from Amber, hotel operator (who was so awesome I bought her and her colleagues some pizza and desserts because they are just awesome and made me feel at home). ||Tamara, the overnight attendant was super friendly and nailed all of the welcome experience a lifetime titanium elite (2,800 nights with Marriott) would hope for. Her authentic welcome at 1230am was energizing and appreciated for a road warrior. ||The lounge team in the morning and evening of Grace and Mahima was fantastic. I think Grace wins cheerleader of the year with her excited welcome of guests. Super awesome way to start the day. ||Santale at checkout rounded out the stay with excellence and efficiency and friendliness. ||The housekeeping team were great and greeted me every time I walked by. The security guard overnight was equally helpful and seemed like part of the team even though he’s a third party vendor. ||So often these days at any of the flags in Marriott 27 brands, service levels have transactional and also have a high degree of variances what you can expect at a single property . This property reminds me of the service levels that existed pre-Covid and I’m sure it’s no accident that the team members here have probably been working for many years and generally enjoy working with each other.||Can’t wait to go back. This property and the Palace Hotel are my two favorite in the Bay area. Can’t wait to come back.

This is a great hotel. Very nice. Parking garage is good, no issues with our van. The rooms are nice, and we really enjoyed our stay. Close to public transportation, which we used to get into the city. Would definitely stay here again!

Location was good as we were attending a function at the attached convention center. Staff was very very nice but unfortunately, several small issues could add up to a bit of a frustrating stay. Booked a package online. My fault I did not read the fine print that the parking discount did not include actual hotel valet parking (so no $25 discount). My final bill also included double charge for parking for only one night so I had to go to the desk to clear that up. Package included zoo tickets, but they didn’t have any and they offered for me to pay for them and email the hotel and hope for a refund. Unfortunately not sure if that will ever happen as we don’t live locally. We attended an event at the convention center, but afterwards the restaurant was definitely unprepared for the number of people wanting food. We were one of the first to place our order, but everyone else received food, ate and paid their bills while we still waited. Finally, the waitress came and brought us our check and we had to let her know we had not actually received our food. We did have a lovely upper floor Bayview room. Positives: VERY kind staff, clean comfy rooms. Negatives: understaffed for event. Desk people were very unfamiliar with the offered packages by Marriott. Inability to obtain actual items in Marriott discount package.

This is a little older hotel. However, they have done a fabulous job at updating it. The food was excellent...highly recommend their fish tacos. The desk staff were great, can't say enough about them. Drawbacks: No one had the code for the WiFi in the convention center. Seeing we were staying there, it wouldn't have been an issue if the guest or public access was available. The elevators were slower than the second coming. And the tubs are original. Which means they are straight up & down, with no lip to lay your head on either. Thought the stained black piece of plywood as wall art was cheap & a bit tacky, actually. The beds & pillows were still really great. Location couldn't be beat when heading to the airport on Bart. And I can't lie, when I lived in the city, my view was the exact opposite of the one we had in Oakland. Kinda nice to see that everyday.

I booked and prepaid a room for my aunt who came to town for a family event during Memorial Day weekend. The reservation associate took down all of my information and sent me the AC form (DocuSign) which I promptly signed and sent back. I received the email confirmation so I thought everything was in order. upon her arrival, she was asked for her credit card for incidentals only. A few days after she returned home, the room had been charged her card to the tune of $264.35 per night as opposed to my $178 as a Bonvoy elite member. I’ve made numerous calls and sent numerous emails to the centralized reservations department, and to the property itself. The lack of professionalism and customer service is atrocious. My aunt is a senior and lives on a fixed income. I’ve had to reimburse her out of my own pocket. I won’t be using the Marriott brand anytime soon. There are too many options out there.

Google
I asked.for.the room.by the elevator was small but fine for me. The desk staff was great room was ready right away. Only think would suggest is having a restraunt list for visitors. There was a fatmers.market.on Friday with food vendors was great. Ate at the restraunt was great and the servers were great and attentive.

Yelp
Great value, yes parking is expensive but worth it for peace of mind. We did a small upgrade for a city view. The room and bathroom were very clean. Loved the lighting on the bathroom mirror. No loud noise on a Saturday night. I loved how lively the venue was when we walked in, there must have been a party going on. Parking was a breeze, the location was perfect. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
From the moment I stepped into the room, I was impressed! The vibe was inviting, and while there were a few signs of wear on the furniture, the overall cleanliness was impeccable. Our corner room was a true gem, boasting expansive windows that framed a fantastic view and flooded the space with natural light. The room was perfectly equipped with well-placed lighting and a powerful A/C that ensured we could sleep comfortably. Although the bathroom was slightly on the smaller side--which is typical for corner rooms--it was functional and tidy. What stood out most was just how serene and quiet the room felt; I hardly noticed any noise from the outside world. The bed and pillows provided an oasis of comfort that made curling up at the end of a long day a pure delight. And let's not forget the lounge! It was a lively space filled with delicious food and refreshing drinks, making it a perfect spot to unwind and catch up on sports. Plus, the availability of water and sodas throughout was a thoughtful touch. My only wish? That breakfast lasted a bit longer--9 AM was too soon of a cut off.

Yelp
Overall, great experience. We were here for a conference. The hotel was cleaner than most hotels I have been to. The queen-size room is a good size for a single or a couple coming. The con is that there is a bathtub, not a shower. I prefer a shower. Gym was small, but perfect for a quick workout. My colleague had trouble with the room they had smelling like smoke, but the hotel was able to get her a new room later in the day. Overall, highly recommend!

Yelp
Convenient parking and they have rental car service. The facility is wildly clean and everything is very convenient. Love the exterior artwork.

Yelp
So the family headed to Oakland to see my son and Daughter n law for a quick turn around trip. The Oakland Marriott City Center is a 7 minute walk from our kid place and so it was ideal to stay at. Parking is $50 for self park and $60 I believe for valet. It was easy to self park in the covered parking. Our room was nice and comfortable. We had a view of the Bay area. Staff was pleasant. Hotel was booked for the weekend so there were A LOT of Guest. Lots of activities and hustle and bustle. Would I stay again, of course centrally located and in walking distance to lots of eating and city activity.

Yelp
The purpose of our stay was for our wedding anniversary. A singer was performing at a local venue, so we decided to stay here because of the proximity to the location. Pretty disappointed in this hotel. The room was nice. It looked like it could've been recently updated. The carpet is the cleanest I've ever seen in a hotel room. The staff was pretty friendly as well. The part where they lost me is the bathroom. I'm very particular when it comes to hotel bathrooms. My husband is very aware of this. He found this hotel and, before booking, sent me the link to get my approval. He knows that I only like to stay in rooms that have sliding glass doors in the shower. The photos online in the room we chose had photos of a bathroom that had that. But when we checked in and I went in to use the bathroom, it was not what was in the photos. It was old and outdated and had a shower curtain. Gross. I'm posting a photo of what is on the Marriott website for the room we chose and what the actual bathroom looked liked.

Yelp
I'm updating my review to reflect the fact that this hotel has the best hotel staff I've encountered in a long time. They are all so friendly and helpful. The room itself is not large but well appointed. There are standard amenities -- tea/coffee, etc. The bed was comfortable although on the softer side. The towels were nice and large and the HVAC system worked well. Also, the views are beautiful as you can see from be picture. If you are in the Oakland area, this is a good hotel to stay in.

Yelp
I'm back and this place is still the best full service hotel in Oakland! There are some truly beautiful humans working here - I decided to extend my stay and Ms. Sante at the front desk helped me with absolute professionalism and grace. What makes this place special are the wonderful staff. In just a few minutes we had one of those once-in-a-lifetime conversations that uplifts, encourages, and inspires all at once! Sante was such a blessing! This place is chock full of good folks, I love staying here because you're sure to have amazing encounters! Thanks also to Tony at the front desk for patiently and kindly helping me with my original booking (despite some website glitching), Ms. Nia the kind/beautiful/helpful valet, and Kenneth for the outstanding white-glove bellman service provided! Kenneth has been with this Marriott for an amazing 35 years, is an Oakland native, and does his job with so much positivity and excellence! He deserves some kind of recognition for his loyalty and decades of service! See my reviews below for details and learn why this one is my favorite in Oakland!

Yelp
Usually my go to hotel when we are back in Oakland. This time around just a lot issues. Besides the crappy valet when I checked in, there was a leak in our room at 1:30am. Had to move rooms at 2:00am. New room - the shower drain is backed up. We shall see.

Yelp
Rating only for the conference. They have parking for conference goers$20 validated. Very convenient. Security was manning all the exits. Food was decent. Lunch we had cesar salad, ice tea, chicken breast with masmashed potato, Brussel sprouts, and plain cheesecake. Service was great. Meeting room temp was okay. Not too stuffy. Poor wifi inside the ballroom. One of the classes, the computer power point kept on going out. That was quite disruptive. Thankfully the speaker had power point handouts. If you are bon savoy member you get free snacks. Pretty cool. For the conference, we had great croissants, bagels, scones, starbuck coffee. Afternoons had lemonade and ice tea. During break time they ran out of hot water. Poor timing. I went to the Cafe and they were accommodating. 15 min break was well needed. The restrooms were clean. Great conference place. Close to BART and Friday farmers markets. The best farmer market is in Oakland.

Yelp
Disappointed with Ambassador level membership with Marriott BonVoy. Despite of all the "Expert Reviews" stating that it wasn't worth getting the "Ambassador Elite membership with Marriott BonVoy," we still tried it, bc we were so pleased by each Marriott BonVoy Elite Tier. Even though, we had other options of going with the Hilton or Hyatt. We chose to stay with Marriott. We always intentionally picked Marriott over Disney Hotel when we went to LA or over Hilton in Hawaii in 2023 bc we wanted to reach the $23,000 annual spend and experience Ambassador Elite Membership. We were successful in achieving Ambassador, but now we feel deceived. Now that we are Ambassador Elite members, we don't feel it was worth reaching the $23,000 per annual spend. The "Expert Reviews" were correct...Ambassador Elite is not worth pursuing and they suggest that both Hilton and Hyatt beats Marriott membership. The misleading benefits of Ambassador Elite "Your 24" are disappointing...we will NOT attempt to achieve Ambassador level again, we will pursue Hyatt and/or Hilton Memberships over maintaining our membership with Marriott. Because, with all honesty, we just spent $23,000 to reach Ambassador ...to only get the same benefits without having to spend $23,000, (Platinum, Titanium level.) Your 24hr check in/ check out is misleading and borders on "Bait and Switch". How disappointing to have lost all that money. Marriott just lost our loyalty and we will definitely share our negative experience with others in regards of the Ambassador membership, that it's misleading and NOT worth pursuing.

Yelp
What is my basis for a good hotel? CLEANLINESS!!!! This place is clean. They never failed my standards. The bedsheets are clean, comfy and crisp, which you can tell they change the beddings each time there's new customers coming in. Other hotels they would just change the top beddings but not the bedsheets. How can i tell? cuz the fine creases or crumples in the bedsheets mean it's used. Unlike when it's big creases or crumples it's from folding the sheets. Anyways, just saying, this place is clean, the beddings very comfy, and receptionists are pleasant!

Yelp
SERVICE & TRANSITIONS -- What they lack in speed, they make up for in warmth. Dolly was an ace-- thank you sir!! Cleaning/runner staff actually smile, which was nice! Phone service was questionable: it took some effort to reach the right people or those that knew how to transfer lines(?). Vehicle retrieval is exacerbated by traffic during peak hours, so request that car sooner than later! Geronimo is an asset & exemplary valet. Idk what's going on with the doors here (confusing & unsightly) but the lobby is still spectacular. Great flow, function, & flare. MVPs: Dolly & Geronimo . ROOM (walkthrough) -- https://youtu.be/SZ8AIM9xb2I "Impressive design; disappointing function" sums it up. Relaxing earth tones and moody lighting gave this room an intimate & alluring vibe. A strong first-impression aesthetically, but the devil is in the details...: The dimensions make the layout functionally awkward; outlet distribution isn't effective; tabletop space is inadequate (esp. for a 2-person party); storage door is impractical; AC vent is poorly placed & underperforms; air circulation is lacking (shower ventilation was non-existent) & windows aren't functional either... The view was nice though. BED -- Very luxurious first impression with the sleep quality to match. Linens were soft, breathable, & clean. The mattress had a perfect firmness level; pillows were cool to the touch; comforters were warm & cozy... 10/10 BATH -- Contemporary, sleek, & clean. The different textures were fun + the vanity was powerfully luminous. Towels were in excellent condition too-- they actually arrive fluffy upon request! Ultimately this space was too cramped for comfort. On top of that: there's no discernible exhaust, water doesn't heat quickly, & faucet is too short. TV/ENTERTAINMENT -- 55" LG configured with the de facto Marriott TV solution (curated smart features, stripped down apps & integrations). The display was very high-end, same goes for the wicked mount installation. If TV doesn't appeal till you, there's a bunch of hotel-sponsored activities like live music, Cornhole, & mini golf! WI-FI & CELL RECEPTION -- Underwhelming... Free (Lobby) WiFi is slow. The member benefit speeds aren't any different. It took a significant amount of time to establish a connection. Verizon carrier performed well in this area. --Performance-- Video streaming - average Online gaming - average Video chatting - average --Nerd Stats-- 11-14 Mbps download 6-8 Mbps upload 1% packet loss 31 ms latency 18 ms jitter FOOD & DRINK -- NOT DoorDash friendly. Despite this inconvenience, there's enough to close the gap. In-room dining is available, although it was more of a bagged-takeout-room-service experience. Since the menu was allergy friendly menu we decided to order the French Toast & Breakfast Burrito. Both were DELICIOUS! My only complaint is their use of Cholula instead of Tapatio . The receptionists are extra attentive when it comes to guests staying hydrated + there's a huge market in the lobby with everything except batteries. In-room: microwave mini-fridge (small) coffee tea wet-bar mini-bar NOISE -- External sound-proofing goods No complaints with internal chatter or housekeeping turnover. LOCATION -- Downtown Oakland; Extremely walkable for food, shows, transit. In a safe location. RATING This room wasn't a hit, functionally. Luckily, the quality in hospitality brought this experience across the finish line for us (s/o to Dolly & Geronimo). I could see myself staying here again in a different room type. I'd recommend this property for anyone optimizing for a great value at a competitive price. 4/5 @mrstaycation

Yelp
Came here for a big conference I was attending for work. I stayed 2 nights (Thursday and Friday). The front desk clerk on Thursday night was pleasant, sweet and kind. Check in was a breeze. When I got the room, I was surprised with how big and spacious it was. I didn't get the view most of my colleagues did, but it was nice none the less. Here are some of my pros and cons. Pros: Great location in downtown Oakland. Walking distance to so much. Spacious rooms. The blanket and pillows are soft and comfortable and the room is quiet. I loved the soaps and lotion as well. Cons: When I got to my room, I didn't feel it was cleaned well. I found a plastic box and plastic wrapper in my room upon arrival. The windows hadn't been cleaned either. They were filthy. Makes me wonder about the cleanliness of the hotel. Everything else looked good though. Self parking was horribly expensive, and Wifi isn't free unless you're a member. I became one to use the wifi so we will see if I get charged or not. $15 bucks a day? That's insane. Other than that, I had a great short trip here to Oakland!

Yelp
$45 per day for parking! Room was nice and cute, nice little outdoor area with games. We enjoyed a cocktail at the bar. I don't think we'd stay here again, overpriced for our needs(especially after factoring in parking). It was very close to Fox Theater though and nice we can walk to and fro to concert. It was a bummer they wouldn't sell bottle of wine or snacks from their little kiosk shop after 11pm.Told us to go to bar but that was shut down

Yelp
This is my go-to hotel when in Oakland. Every visit was been met with the kindest staff. And my stay this past weekend was even better than the last in this regard. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are equipped with plenty of the needed amenities.

Yelp
Was in town recently for a large industry celebration, which has limited hotels in the area. This Marriott is the older one, thats a part in the City Center complex. Even though its been around the neighborhood for years it is still one of the nicer hotels in downtown Oakland. From entry to departure, every bit was as expected. Professional, courteous and friendly. Being a Bon Voy member many years, that made it even a bit nicer. The front desk was on it and the young lady went the extra mile with my room assignment. My corner King bed room was very comfortable, well appointed, quiet and very clean. With an impressive view of the bay and San Francisco in the distance. There are several Marriott franchises in downtown Oakland, one of the nicer hotels and the location is very accessible. From the doorman to the final desk staff, every member was extremely professional. 4 Stars - would stay here again 00820

Yelp
Our stay at this Marriott was ruined by the service - our sink started filling with disgusting water from the poor plumbing. Another issue we had was with the parking, to have your car in the lot it is a whopping 45 dollars a day on top of your fee for the stay. We were able to get a voucher after complaining, but the option for validation doesn't exist with the hotel. Other people in our party also had problems with the charges to their card; the overall cost suddenly went up 150 dollars for no apparent reason, after our stay ended. Needless to stay, we will not be back.

Yelp
Horrible customer service, on Friday 03/29/23 I had to redo a reservation I had previously made. After giving them a confirmation number and all the details. I made a reservation and have the confirmation number and payment and upon arrival they acted like the reservation wasn't done, stating that the numbers were incorrect. Traveled all the way from socal to receive the worst customer service. Will make sure we never return to Marriott or continue to give our business to this place, booked with the AAA discount as well. My family needed up staying there because they were exhausted from the 7 hour drive. They didn't even offer an upgrade for their stay.

Yelp
We held a large conference and our 200+ guests had a great experience. The hotel rooms were updated and modern. The parking garage is convenient. It's gorgeous terrace and Skyline ballroom are fantastic for receptions. Overall the catering and staff were great. The only thing I noticed is that they repeated some of the food dishes. It's in a great location close to a lot of things like the OMCA, restaurants, and BART.

Yelp
I stayed in the Oakland Marriott city center because I had to go to a meeting in Oakland and this hotel was nearby my meeting location. I liked my room but because it is kind of rough neighborhood around this hotel at night I didn't leave my hotel and I dined in. They will charge you $68 for valet parking overnight and because you don't want any damage to your car in this area you will accept it ! But when I got my car back in the next day I did not find it in the same way that I gave it to valet. My sit was adjusted to a short person and I thought I had more gas left in my car left last night before I valet my car so definitely someone else was using my car while I did not go outside that night. Here's what I learned about this hotel and I will share it with you: First of all don't stay there and second of all if you valet your car there take a picture from your mileage and gas and compare it when you get your car back.

Yelp
I stay at Marriotts and Hilton Hotels primarily when I travel for business. Generally, these both have excellent quality and service. I admit I was disappointed with the Oakland Marriott City Center. I was greeted promptly when I arrived and was given a room on the 9th floor. It was already late in the day, and I was tired after the flight from Chicago. I put down my bags and went into the bathroom to drop off my toiletries. It was then I noticed how dirty the bathroom was. If it had been cleaned, they didn't do a very good job. Unfortunately, this incident colored my view of the hotel from the start. It is well-appointed, and the public areas are very nice. The bed was comfortable. I didn't have a chance to use any of the facilities (restaurant, bar, health club, etc.). I'm sure, and if I did, I might have left feeling better about my stay. After returning home, I received a survey from Marriott about my stay. I was honest with them about my concerns. The next day, I got an email from the hotel's General Manager apologizing for my experience. My point in telling this story isn't to trash the hotel. What happened, happened. What I took away from this was the General Manager's response. Had she not done that, I would not consider returning. Given her apology and concern, I told her how much I appreciated her response and, if I were in Oakland, I would certainly give the hotel another chance.

Yelp
Great location and nice clean rooms. I was a bit disappointed that there's no pool or hot tub. We parked around the corner at the city center for a lot cheaper than the valet through parking hero dot com. I would stay here again when going to a show at the Fox theatre.

Yelp
If you're traveling to Oakland or San Francisco, I highly recommend this hotel. It's very clean, modern and you can tell that they take hospitality very seriously! I liked that there was security at the lobby door and that you needed a key to access the elevator to the rooms. My room was also nice and tho I detest carpet, theirs was very clean- from the lobby, to the hallways. I did a spur of the moment last minute solo trip and I felt very safe. l also loved the location!! I couldn't book a car because pick up at the airport was sold out. Navigation on the Bart was so easy because it let me out right across from the hotel. You're so centrally located and there's plenty of nightlife/restaurants within walking distance. Jack London, Old Oakland, Chinatown, and Oakland museum are all super close. Getting to San Francisco was just 2 stops via Bart so I was really able to optimize my time- with a day in San Francisco as well as visit a few places I wanted to go to in Oakland! Note: Make sure that you check your credit card charges a day or 2 after leaving because I paid for my 2 nights in full through Priceline. I checked out early because my flight left at 545am. I was given a receipt and everything but when i got home later that night I got an alert that I was charged for another night! I'm still not sure how they made that error but hopefully I am refunded my money as swiftly as they took the money out of my account!!

We came for a high school college expo conference. We flew in from San Diego to catch the last one in CA on the schedule. When we arrived the bellman/concierge at the front was very kind and directed us to the conference area. The facilities were great; clean and spacious. This

Yelp
I hate this place, imma press charges on u. Wasted 4 hours of my life sitting waiting for wifi. DO NOT come here, unless u tryna get scammed. You will be hearing from my lawyers soon

Yelp
The hotel overall is really nice, the rooms are clean no complaints there. The beds are very uncomfortable. They charge $45 for parking. You can download the spot hero app and find a cheaper garage to park in. The reason for two stars is because upon check in they couldn't find my reservation after I booked through Hotwire. The lady at the front desk was really rude about it, after showing her my reservation was paid for she told me I had to call the third party service I booked through & figure it out with them even though I gave them the correct confirmation number. After waiting an hour and a half I went up to the desk and they magically had my reservation with that same confirmation number I provided originally. Horrible check in experience. Another issue I had is the pet fee, originally I was told it was going to be an additional $50 deposit but it ended up being $75 charge, they did work with me on that and charged me $50. The front desk staff needs to provide better customer service and who ever is answering the phone should give accurate information. I called ahead of time asking what the pet fee was. If I would have known it was an additional charge prior to my arrival I wouldn't have brought my dog.

Yelp
I really wish there was a way to separate ratings. Staff and hotel I would give a 4, but deducted a star because of the neighborhood. The rooms were clean and the staff were all nice. I love the soaps and conditioners they give in the shower. The smell is very nice, good quality. I did not eat at the Iron Grill but had a few drinks there on some nights. The bartenders were nice. And I made a twist of my La Bombs margarita by adding some guava juice and it was bomb! The area of downtown Oakland is sketchy, so be alert and aware as you're walking around. There are quite a bit of homeless and many seem to have some psych problem. There was a man breaking apart crutches with a hammer at the bus stop. It's just safer to Uber even if where you are going is close, or walk in a group.

Pam K.

Yelp
I can't say enough things about the M club with Grace. She was so helpful and they have recently upgraded their breakfast offerings. Front desk is also great with Dahli. Customer service is what's it about.

Yelp
Stayed here for many years and I have to say it has gone downhill as far as staff goes. The rooms are decent and the beds are comfortable but the care less staff and security ruins this place. They have one person working the check in/out and DGAF at all. The parking is horrible and expensive. We won't be back.

Yelp
We stayed over a weekend there and l for very happy . The room with two Queen sized beds was not too large but pretty standard for a city .Apart from the beds there was a long table desk combo , chest of drawers ,mini sofa and one nightstand serving both beds. Noteworthy - there were plenty of places to plug in electronics! Space was a bit tight on each side of the bed to get out. Closet was standard size .The carpeted room , black out curtains also had a cooler fridge that honestly didn't do much cooling.Beds were comfortable and decor non descriptive . I hope that in the next renovation they opt for brighter colors on walls and lighter furniture since the dark colors made the room look a bit gloomy. Bathroom was again efficient ,standard size and the only noteworthy thing was the fact they switched from tiny travel sized toiletries to refillable bottles in the shower. Additional like bath cap and slippers are upon request only nowadays. We stayed on the eighth floor which according to staff was hypoallergenic since my son and I are super allergic. Lobby good sized but the lighting was off so it looked less inviting. Their M lounge is nice but they don't really serve much on the weekends so we only stopped by for a quick coffee. Restaurant was average for breakfast - I had an omelet for 17$ but the service was good. Overall a no frills but clean facility and good location hotel for Oakland. Would stay again .

Yelp
Great hotel in a prime location. Level of sketchiness is no more than any other major city. Just watch your surroundings. The rooms are renovated and very clean! The check in process was okay I felt a bit ignored as a gold status member as i had to remind the front desk lady to see my gold status and give me the perks (upgrade and welcome gift). A bit disappointed in that tbh.

Yelp
Conveniently located. Super clean rooms. Excellent A/C. And incredibly kind and helpful staff. They were the best part of the visit!!!! The floor where my room was located was also super quiet. (11th floor) My main complaint was all the upcharges: charge for WiFi (unless you are a Bonvoy member), charge for parking ($45 per day for self-parking with no in/out privileges), charge for the special room where they serve snacks/breakfast if you choose it. Not much included. That being said, I appreciated the convenient location and friendly staff.

Yelp
Barely recommend this block of Marriott hotels. Other guests yelling the halls until 2am, no parking and very overpriced breakfast. For parking, highly recommend parking on the street after pay hours. Marriott wants 45$ a day for nothing. If you park in the street, there's many options within .5 of a mile, and you can cheat by waking up 8am to pay the parking through the app. For breakfast, you can walk 6min south to ButtercuP. That's a huge diner, and food portions are much later for way less! If you're going to stay here, use these hacks, and you'll cut your cost by a ton!

Yelp
We used the valet parking service It is not cheap but we decided to use it anyway. When we went to pick up our car, we waited more than 40 minutes for it to be returned when I spoke to the manager, his response to me was there's nothing I can do. I'm just doing my job..

Yelp
Other than being in a tough location it's a pretty good place to stay. Reasonable prices, reasonable view, good service, and clean. The premises is in good condition, and the room seemed a good size for the price. Because of the area, we will probably make a different choice next time.

Yelp
I was here for an event. This is an older property that could use an upgrade and some TLC. They have an association with the Warriors which is cool. The surrounding area is a little spotty, so make sure you are careful but you knew that already.

Yelp
This hotel gets a rare 5-star review. It takes a lot for me to give 5 stars to a hotel. What you'll love. - 20th floor room has amazing view of the Port of Oakland and the SF Bay. - Nice room with well-placed sofa, right next to the panoramic view. - Comfortable bed with just-right covers. I hate an over-warm comforter. - Outstanding front desk staff and friendly front-door security. - Convenient self-parking, but overpriced. - Fast elevators that always seem to be waiting on your floor. - Excellent, consistent housekeeping. 5 nights without one housekeeping mistake. - BEST OF ALL: Free self-service laundry on the 4th floor. Free detergent and fabric softener. - Ultra-fast wifi for a ELITE member. - Some nice restaurants nearby. - BART (Metro) station outside the front door. Excellent option for San Francisco tourists. Why stay in San Francisco when you can get from hear to there in 10 minutes? What you might not like. - Strong marijuana smell in elevators, parking, hallways, and outside the front door. - $45 per night parking. - No upgrade for a Titanium Elite member. I've been staying in Marriot hotels for the past three weeks while my home is remodeled. This was the best. Avoid the Marriott Marquis in SF. Stay here instead.

Yelp
Finally! I've been wanting to stay (or host an event) here for YEARS. The latter was always out of my clients' budgets, but the events team was super responsive and organized from what I recall. Gorgeous and expansive event space that's close to the 12th St Oakland BART station... prime real estate for a hotel. Parking on the street was also easy. For some reason it wasn't as big of an issue as we thought it'd be. When we checked in as guests, the front desk was professional and kind, which is always on-brand for the Marriott. Our room was clean and comfy, and we never had to bother the front desk for anything. Most of where we went in Oakland was a 10-15 minute walk away, but it was exciting to come back to the Marriott and get quality rest. Can't wait to stay here again!

Yelp
What has this world come to? So we arrive at the Oakland Marriott and we are dropped off on the side of the hotel. I proceed to find the bellhop and ask for assistance with our bags and he tells me to go inside and ask for assistance to find out that heIl was the manager. He refused to help then he said I will have to charge you $4 per bag. Really? We ended up finding a cart and brought our bags in. Mohammed is lazy and offered no assistance. His customer service skills suck!!!

Yelp
My favorite local Marriott. As a platinum member, I always get the nice corner rooms with the good views. Rooms always feel like a little apartment whenever we need a break from reality without going anywhere. The only thing that needs improvement on is their HVAC system. One degree and you're either freezing or overheating. Other than that, always enjoy it here.

Yelp
Great stay. I needed a quite place with a awesome bed after the last two weeks in my construction cost effective hotel stays. Finally caught up on my sleep. The Marriott bed and pillows were what I was needing! Unfortunately, the Iron Oak restaurant/bar was not serving mixed drinks since they reopened so i had to hit the streets for a cocktail and a meal.

Yelp
Good location. Rooms are pretty standard with city views. Nothing particularly special.. This is our go to hotel option for when my team travels to Oakland and it's been consistent in terms of cleanliness and service.

Yelp
There is only one reason and one reason only that I'm giving them 4 stars in lieu of 5 is because their restaurant/bar isn't open until 4p. Other than that, I can't praise this Marriott enough. From the reception to the room to the food. I will definitely stay here again when I have to return to Oakland for work again.

Yelp
Watch out if you stay there. They overcharged me $140 for parking and valet when I didn't even use their parking service at all. I parked my car on the street... I would definitely not recommend this unless you want someone to rob you.

Yelp
I was at the hotel for a big work conference that I was speaking at. The staff were initially gracious; however, I checked out on 3/10/23 and immediately realized that I had left something in my room. I went to the front desk to ask if I could retrieve it and they said I would have to use the phone in the main lobby for "lost and found". I picked up the phone and it was a recorded message asking you to leave your information. I waited 4 days and heard nothing. I followed up with a call and was told there was no item left in my room. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. I now have to replace the item and I am certain someone then kept it. So, BEWARE!

Yelp
This is a conference center, so it's not fancy. However, I had a fine time when I came here. I parked on the street because parking in the garage is crazy. But I came in and found the rooms for my conference right away. It was easily getting around, because we had two main rooms. The staff working were quite nice. And we had an evening event, a meet and greet, that was nice. My only issue is the meal. I didn't get one because I didn't know the situation. When we were at the Marriott in Hawaii, they had a buffet with food options, some gluten free and some not. But this dinner was a meal and the people who were gluten free, like me, or vegetarian had a terrible time. And please, people need to realize that a bowl of lukewarm or cold fruit is not the dessert they think it is. We're tired of it. So, when it comes to availability of food, they have a lot to work on. And for that reason, I ordered some food and went to pick it up. What they had for us was lacking.

Yelp
Iron & Oak Restaurant and Bar Located within Oakland Marriott City Center While preparing to attend the Annual Black Joy Parade yesterday, seven friends stopped in the hotel for a quick bite at 10 am After we ordered, paid for our food, and grabbed a seat, we were then told that we had to leave the premises. The staff said that the hotel had been totally bought out and that no one except conference attendees could be in the hotel or eat in the restaurant. . We were the only people of color (other that the service staff and hotel security) and we were pretty much escorted out of the building. As 7 highly educated, professional, and well-travelled Black women (who are Bonvoy members), this entire situation was Unbelievable. As we were leaving, I saw the manager and confirmed that this strange request for us to leave was true. Despite their being no signage anywhere and the posted hours being Hours of Operation: Breakfast daily 6:30am - 11am Grab and Go 11am - 1pm All Day menu/Bar daily 4pm - 11pm It was reminiscent of the days when businesses would take Black people's money, but wouldn't let you actually eat or been seen at the establishment. Do better Marriott!
