"Located in a shopping center in Auburn Hills, this soothing Taiwanese tea house serves shaved ice and milk tea, in addition to meals like hot pot, cold noodles with sesame sauce, braised pork, and fried chicken bao. Oakland Tea House is a small, comforting, semi-private gem. The interior is mostly wood, as is traditional with Taiwanese tea houses, which makes for a cozy dining experience." - Danny Palumbo

Don’t know why anyone would give this place low stars! Customer service is great, it was my first time there and the owner recommended a limited time appetizer not on the menu. I got the crispy salty chicken and was tasty.

So, my wife and I have gotten food from here about four times now, and it has quickly become my favorite restaurant. Firstly, it has an incredibly welcoming and tranquil atmosphere; the woman who I assume runs the place has an infectious kindness toward her patrons and provides excellent customer service. The inside of the restaurant is very clean and charming too. The food, which is naturally the main attraction, is superb. It is all made from scratch and feels wholly authentic to Taiwan, at least in my limited experience with Taiwanese cuisine. Everything looks great and tastes delicious, and the bao are the best I've eaten. It's all well worth the price, too, which is standard for this kind of higher-quality Asian cuisine. We will definitely be back many times over.

Please stop putting so much sweetener in your food. I ordered the spicy chicken, side of sausage, side of pork belly and cucumber salad. It was all way too sweet and not balanced in flavor at all. And the fact that rice doesn't come with the dish but costs extra, come on. When I first came here when they just opened the food was so so good, what happened? Different cook?

Google
5 stars every time we visit. We drive nearly 40 minutes to come to this place and it is absolutely worth it. Homemade food with quality ingredients and flavors you won't find anywhere else. Oakland Tea House is a gem!

It's always a real treat to eat here, wonderful people and amazing food! Never a let down either, it's consistently good every time. The food is authentic too, the real deal. If you like spice then they'll make it nice and spicy, you've been warned!

Google
Visited Oakland Tea House tonight for dinner with the entire family. Amazing food!!! We ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, pork belly and rice, Spicy Beef and Tofu, Beef in Noodle soup (beef was cooked perfectly 😃) and crispy chicken. SO good. The shrimp wontons were especially delicious and the pork pastries were 😋 The owners are incredibly welcoming and hospitable. Ask them what their specials are. 100% coming here again.

This was my boyfriend and I's first time at Oakland Tea House. We came because our typical go to restaurant was closed today, but we have a new favorite in the rotation. The kind lady serving/taking orders greeted us warmly and showed us how to use their menu system as well as a variety of photos from their instagram with pictures of popular dishes. She was very kind and asked if there were any allergies or dietary restrictions, as well as our spice-level when ordering a "spicy" dish. We both also got a smoothie and milk tea which were very good. I LOVED the potstickers and he liked his spicy ramen bowl. There was a cucumber salad with my "salty chicken" which I would order as its own side in the future with just the very filling potstickers. The women's bathroom was very clean and had a sturdy changing table, accessible friendly handlebars and even a rotating chair that you could sit in if you have mobility issues while washing hands/if you have POTS/etc. They started to have lots of guests as we were heading out and I definitely see why! We will definitely be returning! Thank you so much for making our Valentine's dinner a bit sweeter ❤️

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants. Very authentic Taiwanese food. Just some notes on specific items for now B-01 Braised Pork/chicken - chicken is teriyaki and is excellent; I love pork but it is fatty, so some people don't like it B-02 Smoke beef - almost better than pork; very meaty; but sometimes has a big chunk of fat (which I love but others don't) N-07 Spiced Oil with Shrimp Noodles - dang, this was flavory (hot, salty, peppery); the wontons were tremendous, coming out as a single sheet of fried goodness on top of the noodles; they broke apart easily, but the fact that they were all fried next to each other was beautiful and somehow even more appetizing than if they had been separate A-06 Taiwanese Taro Pastry (2pcs/order)- lots of tasty sesame seeds on outside; not sweet, almost like red bean paste; not a huge fan R-01 Egg Fried Rice- good, quite peppery, which I love; not overly oily A-02 Cucumber Salad - excellent, although small for the money

Yelp
Our first time trying authentic Taiwanese food and I can't recommend this spot more. The food was absolutely wonderful and the owner was so nice, welcoming and very attentive. She really made you feel comfortable and answered any of our questions and made sure to check for food allergies. We tried the boa with chicken and it was delicious, beef dumplings and the Dan Dan noodles. My husband and I shared everything and left feeling nice and full with a little bit of left over for tomorrow! The restaurant was clean and had tables tucked away in the back. We will absolutely be back to explore the menu!

Yelp
We are not from the area so decided to give a try. Got Teriyaki chicken ($14.95), Braised beef noodle soup ( $24), and Shrimp wonton soup ($19). It's a simple, grandma-mom/pop Taiwanese restaurant with a homey feel an design to it. Recipes are unpretentious, ingredients (like noodles) are home-made and made-to-order. The taste is pretty savory. Soup was nice and warm. Wonton soft and chewy. Rice fried well with moist chicken. Here are the downsides: It's expensive. For wonton soup to be $20 I don't think is worth it. Nothing special about teriyaki chicken to be $15. And the beef noodle soup to be $25 was not worth it considering the beef was hard to chew. It takes a long time for food to come. Yes, They make it fresh and to order but be prepared to wait. It took almost 25 minutes for 3 dishes. Beef noodle soup: big chunks of braised beef which is great however tough and not very chewable and therefore not very enjoyable. Service/tip: it is mostly self service in that you have to throw your own trash and clean your own table and get your own water however you are expected to tip the normal amount. If it wasn't this far, I still probably wouldn't go again.

Yelp
Love Oakland Tea House!! This is one of my favorite spots in Southeast Michigan for authentic Taiwanese food. I like to get the beef noodle soup, cucumber salad, and cold noodles here. The ambiance is casual - great for dining with a smaller group. The service can be slow during peak hours but is not unreasonable. There's a great bubble tea shop in the same plaza to grab dessert after which makes this the perfect spot for lunch or dinner. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to find an authentic Taiwanese restaurant in an unassuming plaza. My visit took place a couple of Fridays ago because I heard of their delicious beef noodle soup. Upon arrival, I was so disappointed that they weren't offering beef noodle soup because the supplier didn't offer quality meat so the owner choose not to serve it. Kudos for quality control, even if that meant losing out on profits. Alternately, I ordered the shrimp wonton noodle soup. The shrimp wontons were handmade, you can taste the quality as the wontons were plump and delicious. The soup broth was also tasty and didn't leave me feeling thirsty later. The owner shared that they don't use MSG in any of their food. I had a few bites of the cold noodles with sesame dressing, that was also good and refreshing on a warm day. Another aspect of what makes Oakland Tea House stands out is their interior décor. There are semi-private rooms and some tables are sectioned off to provide more privacy, yet with a homey feel. The owner was really friendly and visited each table to see if anyone needs anything. I then struck up a conversation with her and she shared more about her restaurant and personal life. Overall, I hope to visit this restaurant again. Everything tasted delicious and authentic. The friendly service, clean restrooms, and ample parking also make for a great dining experience. #29/2023

Yelp
If you're in the mood for authentic Taiwanese cuisine, look no further than Oakland Tea House. From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to a cozy and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxing meal. The restaurant's ambiance is inviting and cozy, with a decor that transports you straight to Taiwan. But the real star of the show here is the food. The menu is full of delicious options, but I highly recommend starting with the pork belly bao buns. The fluffy buns are filled with tender and flavorful pork belly, along with pickled vegetables and a drizzle of hoisin sauce that adds the perfect touch of sweetness. It's a perfect appetizer to share with friends or as a satisfying snack. I also had the Salty Crispy Chicken and Taiwanese Sausage, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly crispy and salty, with a juicy and tender interior that left me wanting more. The Taiwanese sausage had a fantastic blend of sweet and savory flavors, and was cooked to perfection. Both dishes were accompanied by a variety of dipping sauces that added an extra layer of flavor and complemented the meat perfectly. For my main course, I ordered the Braised Beef Noodles and Minced Pork with Rice, and I was blown away by both dishes. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the broth was incredibly flavorful, with tender beef that melted in my mouth. The Minced Pork with Rice was equally delicious, with perfectly cooked rice topped with tender and flavorful minced pork. Overall, I highly recommend Oakland Tea House to anyone looking for a truly authentic Taiwanese dining experience. The food is expertly prepared, with high-quality ingredients and expert techniques that showcase the best of Taiwanese cuisine. Whether you're a longtime fan of Taiwanese food or just looking to try something new, it is definitely worth a visit. The attentive and friendly staff, cozy atmosphere, and mouthwatering dishes make for an unforgettable dining experience that you won't soon forget.

Yelp
This place has some of the best Taiwanese food in the Midwest. The lamb cumin dumplings, Dan Dan noodles and beef noodle soup are some of the highlights. All noodles are hand made and pulled!! Yes, because it's a small crew there can be a wait but it's always worth it! Don't forget the strawberry panna cotta for dessert

Eugene M.

Yelp
Don't expect almond chicken or General Tso's chicken. This is the real deal. This is food like my mom made growing up. Everything is fresh and tasty. Staff is always very friendly.

Tomomi M.

Yelp
This restaurant is my favorite. All of them were delicious, but the new menu I had today, the noodle with smoked pork, was the best. The soup had a gentle taste, the pork was fragrant, and I could tell that it was carefully made. My husband's teriyaki chicken is consistently delicious, and the side dishes have a well-balanced flavor, so no matter how many times we eat them, we keep coming back for more.

Jaewoo S.

Yelp
Amazing Taiwanese food. The beef noodle soup was as expected! Really delicious with super tender beef and thick noodles that really go well with spicy soup. I chose medium spicy and the bottom of the dish had enough spices to make it taste quite spicy. Not sure if this is the after inflation price but a single lunch meal costing almost $20 is really expensive. Dumplings were super good too. We were told shrimp dumpling was a new menu. Bottom line is I will definitely be back for more. Will cut down two dining out meals for this one place. Also, the beef noodle soup seems like only Friday and Saturday menu. Not too sure but worth checking with the restaurant because it's super delicious.

Juliana M.

Yelp
Everything is good here. The lady who runs this place is very kind. We had teriyaki chicken dinner, salty crispy chicken with green beans, pork wonton soup and pork sausages and dumplings. The crispy chicken was savory and perfectly seasoned with a light crisp breading. The noodle soup had vegetables and a flavorful broth. This is a new favorite dinner spot for me. Our 8 yr old loved it too.

Yelp
IN LOVE WITH OAKLAND TEA HOUSE! I am blessed that this place is located so close to me. Finally, a Taiwanese-specific restaurant where I can go and get all my traditional Taiwanese food whenever I'm missing Taiwan! I am so so so obsessed with Oakland Tea House, but don't just take it from this first generation Taiwanese American...take it from my Taiwanese parents and family friends who ALL APPROVE wholeheartedly of Oakland Tea House! That's how you know it's legit! My menu favorites are the minced pork rice, salty crispy chicken, and pork sausage, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! I haven't tried their guo baos yet, but everyone who has tried them says they're delicious! I get take out from here basically once a week and you should too! Positioned kiddy corner from OU and at the pack of this strip mall/plaza area, students and all those who live near OU are so blessed to have Oakland Tea House near them! I even know of family friends who drive over from upwards of 30 minutes away just to eat here! It's 100000% worth it! LOVE

Yelp
Food was fresh and fantastic! The portion sizes were good for the price. The atmosphere is quaint and easy to be in.

Yelp
Oakland Tea House is such a cute little restaurant owned by a friendly Taiwanese couple. This is one of the few places I've found in metro Detroit that offers authentic homestyle Taiwanese food. The Sausage & Pork Belly with Rice has Chinese style sausage, delicious pork belly, veggies, and tofu. The Salty Crispy Chicken was made to order. It is crispy and flavorful. I thought the crispy green beans worked really well with this dish, too. My avocado smoothie tasted natural and fresh. I could tell that this was made with real avocado and not powder. Also, the smoothie wasn't sweet. I liked that they don't use a lot of artificial flavoring in their smoothies. It is easy to miss because it is inside the Walton Village Plaza Shopping Center. I wish this restaurant were closer to where I live but now it gives me a reason to drive to Auburn Hills whenever I want a good smoothie and Taiwanese food. Also, don't forget to ask for their homemade chili oil. It's delicious and will add spice to your rice or noodle dish.

Yelp
Hidden away in the far, far back of a strip mall, poorly marked, with signs for both Open and Closed. They seem to cater to Asian students at OU and do a lot of carry-out business. Food is authentic Chinese and tasty, but you will not find ABC. The interior is functional, but obviously done on a very limited budget. Dining room and restrooms are clean. Will I return? Yes.

Patrick R.

Yelp
Super fire! Everything is fun and unique. The Baos are giant and flavorful. Reasonable prices. Very authentic and nice owners. I want to explore everything on the menu. Branch out a d give it a try!

Yelp
We met with our monthly lunch group here and one of our friends is originally from Taiwan many years ago. So this was a special surprise for her. First, let me say that it is located in the back of a strip mall that also has an Indian restaurant and grocery along with many others. Then, if it is early when you pull up in front, it looks like maybe it's vacant...it's not! Inside it is spacious with plenty of seating and extra in a separate dining area off to the side. Second, they have one menu, displayed at the order counter and another one on the wall behind the counter. On the other hand, once you place your order and pay, you pick a table and sit down; they will bring your food to your table when it's ready. Three of our friends ordered Beef Tendon and Flank Steak, Teriyaki Chicken, and Sliced Pork in Garlic Sauce Rice dishes. We ordered Preserved Vegetables with Shredded Pork Soup, Shrimp and Dumpling Noodle Soup, an order of Pork Dumplings, and a Shaved Ice with Red Beans and Taro Paste with Evaporated Milk. Everything was delicious! The soup broth was loaded with flavor and combined well with whatever ingredients you chose. A word about the Dumplings: exceptional! I would come back just to eat more of them. I don't care for deep fried Dumplings; I'm OK with steamed Dumplings. My favorite is pan fried and then steamed Dumplings, which is how I was introduced to them as Gyoza while I was in Japan. As for the Red Bean Shaved Ice Dessert, I'll be honest and admit I'm not personally a fan of the combination of sweet and beans. But my wife grew up with it and it's like her version of catnip! So based on her reaction to eating it, if you are a fan, get this! But remember, it's not a dainty dessert! You'll need help. So share with a friend...or friends. Overall, an excellent experience here today. And we noticed that all the other customers who came in while we were here appeared to be ethnically appropriate, a good sign.

Vickie R.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! The salty crispy chicken took about 20 minutes, but after tasting it, we realized it was absolutely worth the wait. The chicken was tender, well seasoned and fried to perfection. I had the spicy braised beef noodles were also delicious! The beef was tender, the noodles weren't overcooked, and the broth was spicy but not overpowering. The restaurant is really clean and even though I didn't walk around the place, there was a whole back room. My only complaint, which is not their fault at all, is that it's all the way in the back corner of a strip mall and GPS gets all confused about how to get there. So enter the strip mall right on Walton Rd and just follow the strip mall all the way to the back to get here. It's literally a hidden gem. I hope we get to go to another in that general area soon so we can go back. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Blake F.

Yelp
Noodles tasted like they were home-made, and the meat was very savory and tasted so good! Felt like we were at someone's house getting a home cooked meal. The inside is now more impressively decorated than it was in the other pictures. The lady at the counter was working really hard to take orders, make food, and serve. Got to respect the work ethic. If you want to try something that taste authentic go here.. just do it!

Shirley C.

Yelp
They are short staffed and the service is non-existent. Only one person taking order and serving food at Saturday for lunch, and she had to ask us to sit at a table for a while because she had to serve food first, then called out to us but asked us to sit back because she had to serve more food. Then eventually called us up to the counter and then told us we couldn't order shaved ice because it's only available during the summer. But it is not crossed out on the menu!! Then I asked how long if we wanted to get a boba drink. She said give them 10 minutes. We had to sadly walk out because the whole thing was a debacle and took a long time.

Yelp
We have been to this place many times. The taste of the most dishes are generally unique compared to that of the other Chinese restaurants in town. Dishes are pricy for the amount of material presented on the plate. The Beef noodle soup are no where near what it should be in terms of taste and the cuts of the beef they used. But all in all, the reason for not-good rating of this posting from us was not totally related to our expectation of the ordered dishes but towards owner's honesty was questionable. We ordered 8 different dishes but only received 7 during our last visit yesterday. After patiently waiting for our last dish to come to the table, we asked the lady owner not to cook our last dish if she was too busy because we were full and had to leave for other business. To our surprise, she said she had never charged that dish in the first place. Hey, you have to order the food and paid the bill before receiving the food in this restaurant. If she did not charged the dish, she should have communicate to us for the reason she was not charging when we pay the bill + tips in front. To those who plan to visit this place, please demand a receipt with a list of dishes you order and check the mark when food is delivered. If you believe owner's integrity is above everything else, then they do not deserve any star.

Jenny P.

Yelp
I wish this place wasn't so far. It's a once in a lifetime when I get to go here. Their bubble tea is yummy and legit! I love the variety of food they have too. It reminds me of a upgraded cafe for some reason. I guess the vibe and stuff. I had to get the sesame noodles of course. And add the chili oil. Lots of chili oil. Yummy! Their bao is actually pretty good too. at first I was like $5 for one bao?! That's insane! But when I got it, it was HUGE!!!! Size of your entire hand. It was pretty darn good though. I want to try all the ones they have. Their shave ice isn't that great. The ice isn't fluffy and soft. More coarse. Also not enough fruit for my liking. Definitely recommend this place though!

Golden H.

Yelp
For a tea house, I'd say the boba and milk tea could be better. The milk tea is nothing too special; just your standard milk tea you can get almost anywhere. It tastes a little more syrupy than usual and the boba is just okay too. Chewy but a little hard once you get to the middle. The redeeming quality for Oakland Tea House is the food! I ordered the cold noodles with chicken and wonton soup and they were both delicious! The cold noodles were a little gelatinous from the chicken, but the flavor was decent, and the noodle consistency was good. The wontons were also not just a big pack of meat and had flavor as well. Broth was pretty rich (may be too rich for my liking), but I didn't feel thirsty after so I don't think there was a lot of MSG. Overall, I like the fact that you can enjoy a nice meal here along with your drink, and the flavor of the food really makes up for the mediocre milk tea. I'd come back here and give this place another shot in the near future!

Yelp
Several trees parachuted out of a plane. We found most of them, which had landed roughly where they were supposed to. But the oak tree is missing. So now everyone is asking the troubling question: Where did the Oak Land? No cats allowed (that's the Oakland Flea House), and bare legs not encouraged in winter (that's the Oakland Knee House), however sexy half naked boys welcome in summer (oh wait that's the Oakland Me House). So I'll be honest and tell you that I didn't really like the products here at Oakland Tea but I thought that it was the loveliest little location in the back of an office park for a Boba place and the service is absolutely wonderful - so I'll definitely be back to try some different products and give them another chance. Besides it wasn't bad at all, just meh. Just wasn't right up my alley. If your by this place, though, definitely give them a try. They're making a good effort and should be a lot busier - especially compared to some of that busy bubble tea shops I've seen such as the Americanized ones, which can be just awful. This is clearly better than those, but compared to the likes of KFT (Madison Heights) and Momo (East Lansing), it's not my fave. You actually have to pay for your drinks here (Oakland Free House is different), and you won't learn much here (unlike the Oakland Degree House), and watch out that your review doesn't get deleted (what is this, the FCC House?)

Mayumi S.

Yelp
Find this place by accident. I enter the restaurant casher person was very very welcome to us. Very homey! Many space and I feel safe to eat here . Any way I checked menu find out they have Dou fua ! Wow I didn't eat long time ! Order Dan Dan men. I hope not so meaty. They need meat and nuts and spice combine with good harmony which I want. It's not 100 percent but very good balance for me. So if come back here I will order again. Any way they can't serve water so they gave us free bottle of water ! Thank you.

Julianne T.

Yelp
This is a great slightly hidden gem of Taiwanese comfort food. The restaurant is in the back of a plaza so it was a little hard to find. My friend and I went on Saturday around 1pm and there were a few customers there. We ordered popcorn chicken, pork belly bao, wonton and shrimp noodle soup, minced pork & rice (not pictured because we ate it too fast), and mango shaved ice with red bean and boba. The food came out quickly. The aiyi behind the counter was so sweet and attentive to all the customers. Would recommend for anyone craving Taiwanese comfort food and I definitely want to come back and try out the other items on the menu!

W. John R.

Yelp
Fantastic! I wish it was closer to my house. We had the salted chicken appetizer, which was the rock star of the dinner. I had the pork belly and sausage rice dinner. Everything was fresh and fantastic. I loved the sausage. Can't wait to come back here.

Cheryl S.

Yelp
Best spicy Dan Dan noodles I've ever had! I would highly recommend this place looking forward to trying everything on the menu!

Tim T.

Yelp
We opted to indoor. Waited over 1 hour for our food!!! By the time our food got to us. It was already semi cold. Luke warm at best. I am Taiwanese. I love supporting a Taiwanese business. But this was excessive. My kids were so hungry that we had to go buy McDonalds to feed them before the food came. It was a terrible experience. It seemed that the take out orders were getting priority over dine-in orders. Maybe they should just do take out only and tell people it is 1 hour before they can pick up their food. They did say that it would take 30-40 mins for rhe food. And I was okay with that. But it was literally 1 hour and 20 minute before our FIRST dish showed up. Then it was longer for the 2nd and 3rd dish to show up. I will not be visiting again any time soon. The food is great when it isnt cold when served to you. Another Taiwanese friend if mine said the exact same thing and he has not visited for over a year because of the wait time on the food. I think there are plenty of people who know how to make good food. But how to actually manage a restaurant is a whole other task. I understand it is difficult to be in the restaurant business right now. But I cannot have my family waiting in the restaurant for over an hour for food. Might as well do take out only, tell people it takes an hour to get their food.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
This little tea house packs a huge punch with the welcoming staff, authentic Taiwanese food, vegetarian options, and delicious boba. We tried out a wide assortment of dishes--tea eggs, wontons, dumplings, rice bowls, shaved ice, noodles. My peers enjoyed the meat dishes with great gusto, while I relished in the surprising breadth and depth of the vegetarian options available. The chef truly cares about providing the most delicious flavors without relying on MSG. Everything is made fresh with the same love as a yeye or nainai who is trying to spoil their grandchildren with the most lovely and heartwarming home-cooked meal.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
A buddy of mine introduced this restaurant to me and I'm glad she did! I ordered the shrimp won ton and noodle soup. Noodles are hand made so it took some time but it wasn't too long of a wait. Broth had the right flavors; tasty but not too salty or overwhelming of a taste that a lot of soup noodles have. Overall a pretty nice experience. Just wish this restaurant wasn't such a distance to where I live but if I'm near by I'll definitely come back and try their other dishes!

Shui C.

Yelp
I am Taiwanese. It's rare to find an authentic Taiwanese around here with homemade ingredients. And you can really tell the difference. We live around 40 minutes away but go there at least twice a month. It's a simple place and not a lot of people dining in. So we feel safe to sit in the back corner. All the items are very authentic and delicious. We normally get Taiwanese beef noodle soup, luroufan minced pork rice, spicy Dan Dan noodle, spicy cold chicken sesame noodles, breakfast items on Sunday. Taiwanese gua bao (Chinese hamburger) is also a big hit there. It's not a fast food restaurant so it takes time for the food to be ready. They restaurant is run by only the couple. So they are extremely busy if they get a lot of takeout orders. If you are in a rush, you will need to call ahead. If you want to try authentic quality Taiwanese food, this is the place!!

Jenny K.

Yelp
This place is amazing and authentic. The employees are super friendly and attentive and the food is delicious without being too fussy. Their homemade dumplings and fried chicken was delicious. I usually get the pork belly and sausage rice meal and it never disappoints! The bao buns are also great!

Sophia G.

Yelp
In the Oakland county area, there is few authentic Asian food, let alone Chinese and Taiwanese. I still have yet to receive a dish I don't like, and I have tried almost everything on the menu. The food ranges from comfort beef noodles, to preserved veggies with tender pork. There is something for everyone on the menu, with usually the option to make sure it's not spicy. Not only is their food great, but their desserts and drinks are equally as amazing. The bubble tea is different here, they use jams to flavor it and it's a nice difference from other teas. The shaved ice is perfect for the summer, and if you're feeling adventurous, try the douhua (tofu pudding) I promise it's great here! I have been coming here for a little over three years now, and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The staff is always nice and genuine, and it's a mom and pop shop.

Mike R.

Yelp
This place is terrific, authentic Chinese flavors not Americanized with the usual sweet and sour and general Tao. We are regulars here, usually all of the eaters are asian so you know it's good. I highly recommend the braised beef noodle soup, as that's my usual go to. My wife has a hard time eating there however because she is gluten free so they usually make her steamed veggies and rice, not on menu. Ambience is a little weird but not bad weird, workers have very little English command but they are very friendly and that's a big plus. This place is a welcome Oasis of wonderful food in a desert of superficial Michigan restaurants. Go here!!

K C.

Yelp
The food and service are very good. Typical mom and pop shop that's operated very minimally. The only complain is that they do not offer the full menu on weekdays. We found out the hard way after taking in our hangry children there and found out there's only one item on the menu that the kids can/would each that's available as most other items being offered at the time were all spicy. But everything we ordered was very tasty despite some being too spicy for the kids.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It's tucked in behind Rangoli in that shopping center. It just opened a couple months ago and looks a little sparse inside, but you need to check it out. They offer a bunch of things you are probably craving for (especially if you're Asian/from California): - Boba tea - Light dishes and meals: Chinese buns, noodles, wonton dumplings, stews, fried rice - Taiwanese shaved Ice I've only had one dish (spicy wontons) and the unflavored milk tea, but both have been great! They are generous with the milk tea - you get a rather large cup for just $3.50. If anything, I think it's just a little too diluted for my taste. I wish they had more flavors though. They are lacking some primary ones - IE taro, almond, red bean, etc. Food is great too, definitely well prepared. Service is kind and helpful too. They are very accommodating and make sure you get the internet password when you come in with a backpack. Will definitely be back, and often! Internet is zippy and there is ample space in the shop. Another great place to study - ambiance is not exactly charming, but it will certainly do the trick.

Yelp
Food is fantastic! Dumplings are the freshest you can find. Everything tastes very fresh. I personally love the soups they are fresh and filling. The service is great the women at the front always greets us and recommends what food to try. Its one of those restaurants where you want to try everything on the menu! thanks Oakland Tea house!

Yelp
Came here to try their bubble tea and smoothies. I was very excited as they have good reviews saying how authentic they are and was very disappointed. I ordered the beef noodle soup and a red bean smoothie. The beef noodle soup's broth was just ok (very oily) and while the beef was nice and tender, the noodles' texture was not smooth.. Not sure what kind of noodles it was but it was definitely not rice noodles like used in Udon. I was pretty disappointed with my meal as I read all these good reviews about the food served here. My red bean smoothie was also pretty disappointing as it was mostly ice and little flavor. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this place and I wouldn't come here again for food or bubble tea/smoothies. They were also out of half of their flavors that day and service was pretty slow for Thursday lunch.

Yelp
Took my friends there, it was embarrassing that the owner kept pushing my friends to buy more food and dessert. It was my friend's treat, and we ended up paying over $100 for 3 people's meals. As a pre-regular customer, I have heard many times from the owner that Oakland tea house don't use MSG, and food is safe for babies. It's getting too much and annoying. I'll stop going there for a while.

Yelp
The Tung Pao Guo Bao was one of the best things I have ever tasted. The pork belly was so tender and juicy but not fatty, and the soft white bun soaked up the sauce, and then the subtle crunch from the peanuts just put it over the top. I can't say enough wonderful things about the Teahouse. The crispy salty chicken had a perfect amount of saltiness to enhance the flavor of the moist chicken.

Yelp
SO happy I found this restaurant. Customers are treated like family and the food is fresh and authentic. I've tried their shrimp wonton soup, braised pork guo bao, bubble tea, hot sweet red bean soup, and dou hua. I absolutely recommend all of these and I'm so excited to try more!

Yelp
2 years since finding this local hidden gem and still going strong. I prefer eating here rather than the typical ABC Chinese take-outs these days. They recently remodeled the place and even constructed private group rooms in the back hall. It's an open kitchen layout now that looks clean and well organized with a traditional vibe to it, feels like home. Food quality is still great with their home cooked comfort food. My new favorite dishes are the Sichuan Dan-Dan Noodles and Salty Crispy Chicken. The Dan-Dan noodles are a flavor bomb of spicy and savory peanut sauce that warms the soul. I also like to add Sausage, Pork Belly, and a Tea Egg to get a little bit of everything covered in the delicious sauce. Salty Crispy Chicken stays true to its name being well seasoned, crispy, and tender nuggets of juicy meat with fried green beans. Milk Teas are always a must when getting the food here too, don't forget to add the Tapioca Bubbles.

Yelp
I ordered the Taiwanese beef noodle and a boba drink and it was not tasty at all. Consider this is a Taiwanese style cafe type joint, I was expecting a lot more authenticity in taste but was only left with disappointments. Off the bat, the color of the noodle soup is very light which isn't authentic compared to the beef noodle soup. Come on, it's just soy sauce you have to put more in. Stop being skimpy! When first picked up the noodle soup, the temperature was no where as warm as it suppose to be. Traditionally, the noodle soup is to be served hot so it preserves the taste of the meat, noodle and soup. The meat was not tender and I think they didn't use beef shank and it also lacked the flavor which are all what's expected in an authentic Taiwanese noodle soup. The milk tea drink was also lacking taste. Kind of bland and less flavorful compared to some of the drinks you can buy from Asian supermarkets. The service was not the most pleasant as the waitress who might also be the owner told us in a demanding tone that we have to return our used bowls and utensils to the kitchen tray. These standing trays are like in cafeterias where you return your plates and utensils for the back kitchen to clean after finishing eating. I don't know why we even have to tip as it is an option as they only do ordering and pay at the counter. Also, we had to pick up our own drinks and food at the counter once it's ready and also return and throw away used plastic utensils after done eating. Maybe just tip them for wiping the already table after we leave?

Yelp
Just left the Tea House. Absolutely FANTASTIC!! I went with 3 people from work and the owner gave us the little private side room. Cool, unique, casual vibe. The food was VERY VERY good, and the portions were large. The owner does all the cooking and she is from Taiwan. She talked to us for a while and she is a gem. Very authentic food with no MSG. My coworkers all loved it too. We will definitely be going back soon. Best hidden secret in Auburn Hills!

Yelp
The food matches the aesthetics of the restaurant. It's very simple and has such a personal touch to it. Food was fantastic and the service was similarly good. An authentic experience at a simple restaurant that I'd highly recommend.

Yelp
I have to say this is most authentic Taiwanese restaurant that I ever had in the States! They opened in July 2016 so not many reviews on yelp yet, but definitely a hidden gem. We had braised beef with noodles, salted vegetable noodles, spiced oil wonton, and tofu costard with taro as desert. All of those were very delicious!
