Such a beautiful place and grounds as well as friendly staff. My husband and I attended one of their flashlight night tours in October and it was so much fun (as well as informative) for my spooky and all-thinga-weird loving heart! Not to mention all of the delicious snacks provided 🥰 10 OUTTA 10 Y'ALL!

We had the privilege of touring the Oaklands Mansion (for a reduced admission fee). There is so much to see. Nicely preserved history! Beautiful furnishings! We spent a good hour reading and touring the place.

Beautiful grounds. Beautiful house. The person who brought us into the home was very nice and primarily presented a short history of a black slave and his family pictures. Also , some history on construction. The information concerning rhe original owner, we had to read about in the halls and online. Would love more of a balanced history of the grounds. The good and the bad so we can learn from history. They are setting up a pride drag festival right outside the front door today... disappointed. When is the heterosexual festival?? Again, beautiful grounds I wish I could say more positive.

For years Oakland Mansion has hosted high quality events at their beautiful venue. The staff is always professional and kind. James Manning has also taken great care to tell the history of the site and brought forth the stories and voices of the enslaved persons who lived there. It is the gem of our downtown area and the perfect place for events, walking or a picnic.

Always a great place to visit. I’ve done family photos and weddings here. Beautiful grounds and a fun place to visit.

We had the pleasure of being on the Oaklands Mansion property for the RUCO Pride event and what an amazing facility. Immaculately clean bathrooms, kind staff and beautiful selection of gifts in the gift shop. Thank you for being the host of such a wonderfully inclusive event.

I've always had a good time helping out with events here. The staff is awesome and willing to go the extra mile. They do a great job at preserving the house and the history there as well.

This will be the third year I’ve worked on an event with Oakland Mansion and every year they never cease to amaze me. The head of house coordinators are consistently quick and clear with communication, and always willing to be flexible when problems inevitably arise. Will for sure be keeping them at the top of my roster for event bookings. Would absolutely suggest for special occasions!

Yelp
Beautiful Mansion! We were treated with a guided self tour my James. He was full of knowledge and insight of this amazing property. Highly recommend tour!

Yelp
Over the years, I have attended many events at Oaklands and have always loved visiting! The home stands in the heart of Murfreesboro's downtown and gives a step back in time to the Civil War era, while providing historical snapshots of Murfreesboro through the years. The staff here is great, and I always leave having learned something new. The gift shop is full of great local gift items. IN addition to the museum and visitor's center, the grounds are a great spot for photos.

Yelp
Beauty of days gone by, and thanks to a group of women who worked on this restoration project nestled in a beautiful treed area now a park

Yelp
Oaklands Mansion is a very cool Murfreesboro gem. I went for "free" day because I hadn't even heard of the mansion until I saw free day being advertised. The house is well restored with lots of information about the family and the history of the home. I loved walking the grounds under the big shady trees. I will definitely be bringing guests to Oaklands Mansion when they are in town.

Yelp
My family and I went to Oktoberfest on 9/24/22. I had purchased 4 regular, and 2 DD, for my family, in advance as required. We met several friends at the mansion. The check in process was smooth. The set up was perfect! We enjoyed some great beers, cigars from the Humidor, and there was even a spot to watch college football! My family enjoyed the food trucks, and axe throwing. It was such a GREAT time, and I will be back!!

Yelp
Went for a free tour post-graduation. Absolutely stunning place, and both sides of history were portrayed well within the household! 10/10 would recommend visiting!

Yelp
Oaklands Historic House Museum is a home originally built by Sally Murfree Maney and her family. It was a working plantation with slaves and the house had many additions over the years. It was set to be destroyed until a group of women restored the house and made it accessible for tours in the present day. Admission is $15/person which includes a guided tour throughout every room in the house. The grounds are pretty expansive with various trails leading around the house and an outdoor garden with herbs, vegetables and blackberries. We had time to kill and ended up walking around some and exploring. The only complaint I have is that we were told to be on the front porch of the house for the tour at a certain time then we waited for 15 minutes and went back to the front desk and she told us it was going to be delayed another 30 minutes due to another tour going long. Overall, an educational visit and a look into the lives of a family in a historical context of the Civil War. It wasn't as great as visiting somewhere like the Hermitage but it was interesting if you enjoy history. I look forward to coming back for Halloween or an event here which seems like it'd be fun.

Yelp
I helped work a wedding there today, and Connor was incredibly kind and professional with my team and I. He was also knowledgeable of the museums history and answered all my questions thoroughly. The grounds were peaceful and you can tell that the staff keeps it well kept.

Yelp
Went to Oakland's Mansion today, we had an amazing time. Very interesting and insightful place to visit. Connor was super helpful, seemed very happy to give us a tour, and was incredibly kind. Great atmosphere and staff! Thanks Connor!!

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful!! We were the first couple to get married inside the mansion and it was absolutely perfect!!! My pictures were breathtaking. And the the service, everything was great. I recommend this place to anyone wanting a small ceremony.

Yelp
I love the Oakland's Mansion. From just a pretty place to go take a walk, to taking prom pictures here, to going to one of their events (my favorite is the wedding dress exhibit!) it's a great place to go and just see a beautiful part of Murfreesboro!

Yelp
This place was wonderful! We bought our tickets online for a Friday morning. We showed up right as they were opening the house. We had the entire house and the guide to ourselves. We learned a lot about the house, the property and the families that lived there. We walked around the property to admire all the beautiful plants. Make sure to check out the gift shop. It is small but they have a very nice selection of locally made gifts. My daughter (12 ) and I had a great time and will definitely be back.

Yelp
This magnificent venue is an amazing option for weddings! We knew we were in good hands from the very start! The wedding was held outdoors on a beautiful sunny afternoon, after the ceremony- cocktails on the patio behind the mansion- and reception next to the gift shop. Every detail was happily handled, and many last minute additions of tables were provided- by the most accommodating management ever! Thank you Oakland's for a perfect day for our newlyweds!! And a special thank you to Conner Moss, who exceeded every expectation!! You are a true pro!

Yelp
We stopped here on a Wednesday afternoon and had a house tour to ourselves. Joe was so entertaining and knowledgeable about the house, the family, and the traditions of the times. We have visited several other plantations in SC & GA but Joe shared new insights to the life of the wealthy slave owners in that era. He also had plenty of recommendations for lunch nearby. Great experience and definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
My wife and I visited today and enjoyed it. We both love touring mansions and houses. We were not disappointed with Oaklands. We arrived just in time to catch the tour. We were fortunate to have a small group and a knowledgeable guide who was very personable. He didn't rush us through and gave us opportunities to ask questions. It was a little hot to fully walk around the grounds but we will definitely return when we have milder temperatures. It is worth your time to explore this beautiful mansion and step back in time.

Yelp
One of my first stops of being a tourist while I was in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. You start of by watching a short film & the tour guide takes you to the Maney Home. The tour guide was very informative to every detail of the home. Every room still had original furniture, portraits, bedding, & every detail a home needs. Tour is about a little over 1 hour. There was only 7 other people in our group so it was great to have space to view the rooms when walking around the home. A must see when you're in the area.

Yelp
I have always loved Oaklands Mansion. It beautiful and peaceful. Read my info under the "Tip" section. It is also a great wedding venue. Great place to take special photos. For free - easiest to just go off hours - when museum is closed - for the photos on the porch or by the tree, etc. Not only did I have my wedding photo done there years ago, but my daughter and her friends went there for great pre-prom shots. The paid tour of the house is lovely and interesting, but it is also a nice place to go even if you aren't going inside on the paid tour of the home.

Yelp
Very cool place with so much history! The tour guides are really nice and full of knowledge about the house and the family that used to live here.

Yelp
Date of Visit: 5/18/13 Saturday Time of Visit: Noon Event: Free Day in May (check the Rutherford Chamber of Commerce site) Length of tour: 30 minutes - first floor only Parking: There is a sign with an arrow pointing you to parking further out from the house. As far as I could tell, you can still park near the house (which you will want to do if you have anyone who can't hike it from the far parking lot). Restrooms: Located in the building to the left of the main house. This where you can watch a video and walk through a small gift shop. By the way, they have a really cute baby bonnet/wedding handkerchief for only $10! If you cannot navigate stairs, they have a video to watch instead. The downstairs is not all that large, but still nice to look at. Some of the items are original to the family while others have been donated. Heads up: Back in the fifties the home was to be torn down after being essentially abandoned. The city was looking to use the place for low income housing. This is what you are parking near. Some of the homes are older, larger and nicer and others are clearly low income. House is air conditioned. Normal tour includes the upstairs. There is not an elevator.

Yelp
For the Halloween festivities: If you're a history fan, this place is pretty rad. The flashlight nights thing was a bit chaotic, but if you are patient it is fun. The actors describe mourning customs of the times. I loved it. The daytime mourning tour is even more informative. I went to that a previous year. The "military camp" outside was especially fun during the night event. They were not as inundated with crowds and could talk. Better for older kids. The young ones were bored and over it.

Yelp
If you want no surprises at your wedding, have it somewhere else. My daughter's wedding was perfect until the last hour. The event manager failed to get the City variance she promised, in writing, to get, to enable us to have music until 11:00 PM. She shut down the DJs at 10:00. In all our meetings, 11:00 was discussed as the end of our event. I complained to her (angrily, I admit) that I had paid all vendors until 11:00 PM on her promise of obtaining the variance. She then asked that the music be turned down for about the 4th time, which we again did. Then she summoned Oaklands' live-in security guard, who tried to belittle, intimidate and insult me. He suggested I was drunk, which I was not. I asked for a Breathalyzer test; he said he couldn't do that, but threatened to have 20 police there in 5 minutes. Not wanting to further upset my daughter and guests, I asked the DJs to turn off the music. The guard continued to harass me until I left. I heard that later, police did arrive and even ticketed someone who had a headlight out. Oaklands is beautiful, but not the place for an important event.
