I’m not one to leave reviews because I’m in customer service myself but with that said I’ve tried going here multiple times with a positive attitude and somehow leave feeling bad or frustrated. The first few times I’ve come in and haven’t been greeting at all or been helped in a friendly way, I just thought to myself maybe it’s been a bad day for the girls but after more then 5 times coming in without a greeting smile or really anything I am wondering if maybe they just need someone to tell them it’s noticeable when they aren’t being very friendly.

Google
Extremely disappointed. Always want to support local. BUT… $13 for an egg salad sandwich that was 2 slices of white bread and ‘salad’ that was spread thinner than a layer of mayo. Even with the price of eggs, I could have bought 2 dozen. There wasn’t even 1/2 an egg on the entire sandwich. Plus, the 2 girls working were more interested in socializing and offered a huffy, “Whaaat?” When I asked if I could get a sandwich made. I have pix of the sandwich but can’t post them here sadly. Picture two slices of bread with a barely visible, paper thin line of yellow and that was the sandwich.

Google
I generally love this place BUT quality is going down. After purchasing the veggie sandwich twice in a row , that was honestly mostly bread( I’m not kidding) hardly anything on it , I had to really look to find any avocado and the lettuce and onion were very sparse. I’m thinking seriously about never going back! Sad because I used to get a nice quality sandwich there. I purchase a lot of groceries there too. Better sandwich and lower prices a bit down the road at SAFEWAY folks.

Anytime I’m working in the area, I get a sandwich here. Solid sandwich in a convenient location and nice employees. One in particular is very friendly too.

Google
Greatest market ever! You can find it all here in this wonderful, well-stocked neighborhood store. BBQ, deli, soups, tacos, sandwiches, etc. made right there. Local bakery goods, produce, ice cream, grocery staples, booze, newspapers and on and on! All this in such a small space and staffed with friendly, skilled people. What a treasure this place is and how lucky we are to have it.

Google
Just stocked up for the big game. Hastle free and only 3 other people in the store. The friendly staff in this little Oasis make it worth the challenge of finding a parking space. Spirits, Deli. Meat ..... it's a General Store. I just got home from Oakmont mkt. I haven't been there for a few months and if anything changed

Google
This is a great little market located in the 55+ community of Oakmont. They have good sandwiches made to order and many dinner items. There are daily specials such as hot dogs on Thursday and hamburgers on Friday. They also make special dinners for Thanksgiving, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day and Easter and cater events as well. The owners and staff are friendly and go out of their way to help customers.

Google
We have worked in the oakmont area for years and because there is no other deli around We end up at oakmont deli. Everytime we go there we find the employees are rude never greet us and always make us feel like a burden. They are just not a friendly bunch. Smiles are free and courtesy goes a long way!

Yelp
This is an amazing quick stop deli! Living in oakmont, there's not to many food places or even grocery stores. This store has EVERYTHING!! It's the perfect place to go to for lunch and has the best service! The prices can be a little high but since they are the only store in oakmont, it makes sense. The store is very clean and organized. The food is great!!! I definitely recommend

May P.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are delicious. My husband enjoys their potato salad. Store is clean and staff are kind. They also have a good selection of wine. Lovely neighborhood market.

Kim S.

Yelp
Convenient for Oakmont residents and buyer beware! After almost purchasing several items way past expiration date, reporting it and the product isn't removed, just be warned!! Check and double check!

Yelp
The food from the delivery is always delicious. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The store is clean and easy to find things. I always recommend them for these reasons. They also have outdoor seating with umbrellas and usually a comfortable breeze.

Gabrielle T.

Yelp
The only items I bought were 2 small containers of ice cream, which were overpriced at $10.99 per pint. But, I was going to my aunt's to visit, so bought it anyway. But, then I see that they charged me a 3% credit card surcharge. Not a lot of money, but with their prices, they should not have added an extra fee. Not shopping there again.

Yelp
The Oakmont Village Market is wonderful. Besides making great meatloaf sandwiches and wonderful soups, they also almost always have what I need. Unbelievable for a small market. And, always very personable staff.

Yelp
They serve a 55+ community, a small market, well-stocked. Great sandwiches made to order. They do a good job.

Yelp
Bottom line: the customer service is horrible and everything is severely overpriced. You'd be better off driving a little further to a market with normal prices and people who are actually glad you're there. I've lived near Oakmont for a little over 2 years now, and I've probably stopped by the market once every 2 weeks or so because it's so convenient on my way home from work. I've tolerated the high prices because I only grab a few things - I would never do the bulk of my shopping there. I've also tolerated seriously poor customer service - they ignore you, don't say a word when you're at the counter, and act like you're a real bother. There are a couple women who are actually friendly and it's always such a nice surprise! Almost every other place I go, good customer service is the norm, not the exception. The other thing that really sucks about this place is that they start closing up around 6:30, although they're actually open until 7:00. They wrap up all the food in the deli and put it on carts so you can't buy any, or if you do ask, they act totally put out that you wanted to buy something at 6:30. They especially glare at you if you dare come in closer to 7! The last straw for me was tonight. I walked in at 6:44pm and grabbed 3 things. I was at the register at 6:47pm and pulled out my cash. The clerk told me she couldn't give me any change because she had already counted the drawer. SERIOUSLY?? I have never gone to a store and had someone tell me they wouldn't give me change because they counted the drawer 15 minutes early. I ended up paying for my items anyway and let them keep the extra $0.49. I could care less about $0.49, but I do care about people who are so self-centered that they can't bother to help you even when they're being paid to do so. From now on, I'll gladly take the extra few minutes to stop off at a store with better prices and way better staff! Nice people and good service are far more important to me than convenience.

Yelp
Star deducted bc my boys went to get a deli sandwich and it was made with NO GLOVES!!!! Isn't that mandatory?

Michael J.

Yelp
Food and deli items are quite good and nice selection for a small market. Service is generally good and most clerks are friendly - tonight not so much with one individual. I've lived in Oakmont for 5 years and routinely stop by to quickly pickup various items on my way home and often one of the dinner items. Tonight I walked in at 6:50pm (10 minutes before closing) and everything was put away. I asked if I could get some wings or spaghetti and the response was "we've already put them away." I persisted with a 'please, I'm counting on this for dinner' and the clerk reluctantly said she would get some chicken wings. When I politely offered feedback about if the store closes at 7 it would be great to have the dinner options available until 7, the same clerk gave me quite a bit of pushback and we went back and forth for awhile on the point. The clerk was quite aggressive and kept saying 'you got what you want so what's your complaint' and 'we always will get something for you if we've put it away' but that was clearly not the tone or the content at 6:50pm when I walked in and first asked. If she had simply said, I'm happy to get you a dinner item I obviously would not be writing this comment. In any case, I hope Dave and Laura (the owners) will either provide a notice that dinner items will not be available after a certain time or preferably, keep the dinner items available until the 7pm closing time. This comment is very similar to an earlier comment: " . . . they start closing up around 6:30, although they're actually open until 7:00. They wrap up all the food in the deli and put it on carts so you can't buy any, or if you do ask, they act totally put out that you wanted to buy something at 6:30. They especially glare at you if you dare come in closer to 7!" I think I fit in this latter category and as a customer tonight was feeling like the clerk was engaged in some serious gaslighting trying to convince me that she had been happy to get me what I'd asked for. Not so much imo.

Steve T.

Yelp
Terrible customer-service and unfriendly and rude Employees. We come here maybe three times a year to get your deli sandwiches which are good. But the staff just isn't friendly to the locals or to us!!!!

Mary D.

Yelp
They have the best sandwhiches! They're bread comes in almost daily from Costeux Bakery and it's always very fresh. It's a cute little market perfect for your daily shopping needs. It's like a mini Safeway for the Oakmont Community. They've been around for years and I'll always support!
google avatar

Mariah L.

Yelp
The sandwich here was great and service was quick. I was disappointed to see that their square payment software did not offer the ability to add a tip on card purchases. Tons of people use cards and they deserve to receive card tips as well. It's a simple fix on the software that would make a huge difference! I should've brought cash but it slipped my mind.

Yelp
Thanks again to our local mom/pop grocery store. They are helpful always but especially when we are in crisis mode, like now during the virus. During our black out last fall, they powered up via generator to have food and wine (yeah!) for us. They made hot dogs and hamburgers on an outside grill. Now they are doing their best to have the supplies we are all looking for - they even (often) have TP - limited per person - perfect. Thanks! and continue to support your local businesses as best you can!
google avatar

Christine L.

Yelp
Really? I am totally disgusted..I have been going into the deli there for 20 years. The sandwiches have always been reasonably priced and pretty good size. Today I bought a salami and cheese sandwich for $10.50. There was a half piece of cheese and six slices of salami on the whole sandwich. Ugh, never again. I don't care how desperate I am, I will never enter this market again. Shame on you!!!!
google avatar

Charger W.

Yelp
It seems like every time I go in there, they think I am going to steal something. No smile or hello. I am in a service uniform and would love to give them my business. Also I see a ton of Oakmont residents at the deli down the road, could it be there going out of Oakmont to get a better sandwich?
google avatar

Caleb T.

Yelp
Kind staff, great price, great sandwiches! I recommend getting the chili dog (Wednesday special). The staff are all very kind and they are always friendly. It is no fancy restaurants. , but for the price and the quality of food, it is 5 stars!

Sandra S.

Yelp
This is a great village market--they stock almost everything that you could want. Their take out food and sandwiches are delicious.
google avatar

Patricia G.

Yelp
I shop here a lot as it is convenient to my work and home. I do not mind paying more. The employees are great. The deli makes great sandwiches. I cannot say enough about it!

Nicoletta K.

Yelp
Roast beef sandwiches to go. Roast beef was raw, not rare, but raw. The bread was so full of blood we threw it out. But at least they gave me new sandwiches when I returned them, so a second star. No one should ever have made those sandwiches upon looking at the raw meat. They are way overpriced too. For everything.

Yelp
Oakmont Village Market is located in a senior citizens community.. OVM looks ok from the outside but quite crapped inside. can't really browse since floor space only allows one way traffic in a two lane walkway.. wines, beers, pricey ,store also stocked with household necessities. (pricey?) deli section noticed but prices not. noticed. not enough room to stop and ponder. yep. floor space is that limited. brew: thanksgiving coffee (1.5) -not a turkey at all. smooth, organic fair traded coffee drips: -didn't see any produce, wasn't looking -nice upscale selection (pricey), certainly not a destination fab to have around if one is willing to pay for offerings.

Yelp
This place used to be good I think but I went in there today December 11th 2019 some tall kid helping everyone else out before me do i really need to stand there for 15 minutes for a sandwich when there's only one other person in front of me then proceed to check everyone else out without even asking me or saying I'll be right with you. The owner Salters out after a while 10 minutes later a lady outside, Don it and said that wasn't right but I said it is what it is maybe I just need to go to the Kenwood Market instead they don't act like they're too busy

Yelp
Owned by same family for the past 25 years. The only food market in the Oakmont senior community. Closest Safeway is 6 miles down the road. Cute little food market (500 square feet). Has some interesting package food items you would not expect. Equally amazing wine selection (150 different brands & varietals) for this postage stamp size market. Deli case always has 10-15 ready made items (Enchiladas, Chicken Kiev, meatloaf , etc...). Carries good fresh breads & pastries. Prices are a little high, but no higher than Whole Foods.

Tom A.

Yelp
Over the span of years I've never written a review on the OVM ... just didn't think about ... so now's the time. My wife and I think it's a great place! They may not have everything you're looking for but don't disappointment yourself ... find something since there are many special treasures if you take the time to walk the aisles. They have a reasonable amount of produce. They have a good variety of "take out" foods ready to take home and "heat up". The refrigerated unit is packed with almost anything you need! What's very special about the market are the very pleasant people who work there. Working in any market is not an easy job but the good folks who work at OVM will put a great sandwich together for you ... help you find what you can't find. Most often they'll give you a special smile ... and they also say "thanks" for coming in ... you can't beat that. OK, you may pay a few more pennies, OK a quarter more for some items but think about the time you saved ... and how about the gasoline that you didn't use up driving to Oliver's or Safeway. So keep supporting our "home market", it's a gem ... and you'll feel good about shopping there. And please, say "thank you" as you leave the market that always makes the market crew feel good ... and you have the power to do it!

Shelley B.

Yelp
I love this market! Great if you just need to run and get something. If you don't want to make dinner they have a good deli selection. Everything is freshly made if you don't feel like cooking.

Yelp
I recently moved to Oakmont to a rental home. The community is beautiful. I went to get sandwiches for my friends and family that helped me move in. The sandwiches are delicious and seemed ok price wise. Then I added some Oreo cookies and another kind for the grandkids. The cookies were priced at $6.99 per pkg!! I paid it for the grandkids but what a high price for something that I can buy for less than half that price! Outrageous and ridiculous for a lot if us on fixed incomes! How do they get away with that? Won't be going back anytime soon!
google avatar

Cindy W.

Yelp
There is NO PRODUCE, unless you count a few apples, bananas, and grapes. We stopped by because of the large produce sign outside but boy was that misleading. There was a nice selection of cold beverages and prepared foods but we didn't get to try any of it. The inside was super crowded and I almost got knocked over twice.
google avatar

Me Y.

Yelp
This market is in the Oakmont retirement community and is very over priced. Apparently the owners think senior citizens with fixed incomes and difficulty getting around to other stores is a reason to increase prices.Doesn't seem right to me. Items in the cold case are rarely fresh. I've seen the same items there for more than a week at a time. I guess your customers, especially seniors, don't need fresh items in your deli case?! come on. Service. Besides the two younger girls that work during the day, everyone is very friendly. But those two girls are by far the worst customer service I've ever seen or had. Debt cards have a $5.00 minimum, or you'll be charged .45 cents

N L.

Yelp
This place is disgusting. Flies everywhere and produces were rotting. I noticed a box of strawberries with tiny worms and I immedately flagged an employee and notfied her of this. She shrugged her shoulders and just hit the box on the sides several times. She walked away without even removing the box from display. I just hope no one will eat the fruits without properly washing them. Staying away.
google avatar

Barbara S.

Yelp
I am really surprised at the lack of stars here for this market. If you live in Oakmont and you don't want to leave the "compound", you can find whatever you need here on every shelf. They have pre-made meals that you can get to go and delicious deli sandwiches too for lunch. The staff is always helpful. Warning - it is absolutely NUTS at lunchtime - many local Oakmonters and also lots of the workers in and around Oakmont stop in for a quick lunch to go. Prices are a little higher here than driving to Safeway 6 miles away, but hey - as I said - you don't have to leave the compound!
google avatar

Paul Y.

Yelp
We buy prepared salads, and although too often we find old vegs, we felt the $3.99 price was OK. Then, yesterday, I bought a salad (just lettuce, other vegs, and 1/4 egg and it had gone up $1.00 to $4.99. That's when you can buy a larger prepared salad at Safeway WITH CHICKEN for the same price! It is morally wrong to charge these high prices to seniors. One day the owner will have to answer to a higher power for the way he too often charges these high prices.

Dead D.

Yelp
Used to frequent this market 4-5 times a week and prepared to pay their outrageous prices for a forgotten single item to avoid dealing with highway 12 and Safeway when preparing dinner. I then because educated about the ownership and how rude and obnoxious they became and how vitriolic they are when locals don't patronize them. Calling oakmonters names and berating then isn't a way to increase business. Their staff naturally started to reflect that culture as well. Now it's easy to drive right past them and if something is forgotten we get creative with our recipes. It's far better than risking souring our day by walking into this store.

Diana B.

Yelp
Surprisingly good selection of groceries. Great deli. Nice staff. Clean and friendly.

Brandy H.

Yelp
This place has decent selection of snacks including fresh fruit. Deli looks nice. Prices a bit high. I wish they did not use styrofoam for their deli sides!!! Please encourage then to use something more eco friendly.
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
Great food. Very nice people. Very convenient. The only thing that kind of sucks about living in Oakmont Village is that you have to drive to go to anything. Oakmont Village Market is easy to get to, and has whatever sort of food/groceries you need. The Market could use a little more parking, but it's a great place that is really needed here.

Carolyn G.

Yelp
Oakmont Market is the best. I live here and as others have said, they stock an amazing quality and quantity of items. Yes, it's a bit crowded and yes the prices are a bit higher than at Safeway, but no more than at franchise convenience stores and staff here is friendly and fast. They also do great catering! We're lucky to have them and I try to shop there as often as I can for small items.
google avatar

Henry B.

Yelp
I have been coming here for over four years. I have always found the staff to be very friendly, courteous, and helpful. They know everybody who is a "regular" at the market. Bear in mind, this is a local market largely targeting the surrounding neighborhood of Oakmont. This is a convenience market for many food, alcohol, and a helpful selection of pharmacy and household items that one would have to otherwise travel at some distance to find. Bargain shoppers will need to travel outside of Oakmont to a location farther away with all their coupons and saavy consumerism. I have never had any complaints about any of the food which is well prepared, including daily specials. This location is nevery empty and is popular for an obvious reason. It's your friendly neighborhood market.
google avatar

Jodi D.

Yelp
The deli portion of this market is very good. Place is scrupulously clean. Service is excellent. Wide variety of sandwich choices, all fresh and generous. Made to order. Daily specials and side orders are all fresh and delicious. They will make half sandwiches, which is plenty with a side or chips. Lots of picnic extras. Well worth the stop, and you're lucky if you live nearby. Prices on deli goods reasonable, and grocery and incidentals stock is good, if a little over-priced, for a quick pick-up. Very nice choice of well-priced wines.

E B.

Yelp
Price Gougers...that says it all. Everything is over the regular market price. I paid over 10 bucks for a loaf of bread and some muffins. I have checked other prices and I really feel the owners should not take advantage of seniors because this is the only store in our community. Severely over priced!

Vanessa W.

Yelp
Fully ready to give 5 stars as I love the staff, service, food and selection. HOWEVER, allowing 90 plus degree heat inside the store is dangerous to customers and staff and food. I carry a temp gage because I am a caregiver and anything over 85 can induce seizure. Not cool owners. Not. Cool. (Pun unintended).
google avatar

Kanani S.

Yelp
I've used Oakmont Village Market a number of times for catering events. The food quality is always spot on. I've never had a bad experience and the prices are very resonable. Staff is always friendly and willing to help. My favorite, their breakfast burritos and fresh fruit salad, always delicious
google avatar

Samantha A.

Yelp
Service is so so. They seem to get overwhelmed pretty easily but the sandwiches are delicious! I got the vegetarian sandwich with cheese and it was just so yummy, definitely hit the spot!

Edward K.

Yelp
The Oakmont Village Market is located just inside the entrance to Oakmont Village. The public is welcome to shop there. My 3-star rating is an average of a 4 rating for their food and a 2 rating for their service. In particular, the younger employees seem to work in slow motion and to feel that the customer is unimportant. In addition, their handling of sandwiches they make is sometimes unsanitary (I've never seen the older employees handling non-food items with plastic gloves and then using them to handle food). If you order a sandwich, you have to go to a special station near the checkout counter. Unfortunately, the sign faces in the wrong direction (it faces sideways instead of directly towards customers) so that you won't see it until after you pass the station and reach the register. When this happened to me, the cashier snapped at me that I was in the wrong place (why this made her angry I don't know). The other customers in line smiled (perhaps they had had similar experiences?) and I let the shot roll off me. The prices are a bit on the high side, probably because they have a captive audience of about 5,000 people at Oakmont to draw from. So - the OV Market is a mixed bag.
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
Nice selection in the deli as far as different meats, pastas and such. The store is small so the selection of chips, drinks and such is limited. A bit pricy but compared to the gas you'll use driving to the next closet place it nothing. Friendly staff but be for warned it does get busy in the around lunch time so don't be in a rush.

Dennis S.

Yelp
Have used the market for the past 7 years. People are quite correct that sandwich makers don't use gloves.they really need to change this . Except for one sour puss,RUDE, Hispanic woman the other servers are quite helpful and are nice to work with. The are then willing to help you if can't find things. Maybe if they were paid a decent wage they might be more helpful.

S. G.

Yelp
Outrageously OVERPRICED monopoly and unsanitary food preparation. The owners have a captive audience and they consistantly price gouge the very senior citizens who help pay their rent! I have on several occasions watched as "sandwich makers" cough into their hands, wipe their noses with their hands, scratch themselves and not once did I see them wash or put on gloves. If they are blatant enough to behave like this when people are watching, what is going on in the kitchen??? Disgusting sanitary practices are enough to keep me from purchasing anything at this market. SHAME ON YOU!!! GREEDY PEOPLE!!! with no regard for the health or wellbeing for the senior citizens they rob daily! P.S. The health department requires gloved hands when preparing food. 5/2014....I was in Oakmont and stopped in to see if things had changed. Still no gloves. Same nasty, unsanitary practices. GROSS! BTW...I didn't purchase a thing!

Carole W.

Yelp
I live in the Oakmont community and I have been thankful to have the market on many occasions! It is pretty well stocked for a small store and accommodates most basic needs. The deli is a standout the sandwiches and sides are well made and delicious. The space is a bit small and it does get crowded especially around lunchtime but I have never seen poor food handling techniques as stated in another review and I am there frequently.

James G.

Yelp
Great little store. The saviour of Oakmont. If you need something they have it and save the trip into town to buy a bottle of wine or quart of milk. Great people.

T W.

Yelp
I recently used Oakmont Village Market to cater my wedding. They were AMAZING!!! I took so much pressure and stress off of me to be able to have a group of people there I could trust. They set up all of my tables, linens and all, and took them all down. The food was incredible! I am still getting compliments on the wedding food two weeks later. I would reccommend them to anyone in need of a caterer. Proffesional, polite, and you can tell it is a family run business which I love supporting. Thank you for making my day so special and stress free!!
