Brand New Eateries to Check Out in Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Koreatown’s Oakabing is now serving Korean-style shaved ice from a second outlet on the Arroyo Parkway. In addition to the shop’s signature wares, try the injeolmi croissant — a buttered and toasted croissant filled with Korean rice cakes, whipped cream, honey, and more." - Cathy Chaplin

Google
We ordered the mango melon bowl and strawberry milk. There was a lot so good to share. The only problem was we thought since it was ice, there would be no milk, but unfortunately it all contains milk so my daughter couldn't eat it. But she ate the melon. I had the rest. It was tasty. Just maybe earn customers that all ice is milk based. 🍨

The place was packed when we arrived and there was a wait. I came on a Saturday night. There were a lot of people and a good number of tables, but not enough for a Saturday night. We tried the melon and strawberry shaved ice. Both were good, especially when we added the milk and mochi. The melon tasted better. There's street meter parking.

Google
Sooo good especially on a hot day. The injeolmi (soybean powder) was my personal favorite. The mochi that comes with some of the flavor options has the perfect texture!!

Oakobing is a must-try for dessert lovers! After seeing rave reviews across social media, we decided to check it out on a weeknight. It was quiet since we visited late, but that gave us the perfect chance to enjoy our dessert without the usual crowds. We ordered the green tea shaved ice with tiny mochis, and it was delicious. The texture reminded us of Taiwan night market treats, although this is a Korean dessert spot. The shaved ice was delicate and fluffy, offering a light, refreshing sweetness. The place itself is small but has a bright, modern vibe, and the service was quick and friendly. There’s paid parking available on the side, which is convenient enough. Oakobing specializes in Korean-style shaved ice (bingsoo) with many flavors and milkshake options to choose from. The portions are just right for sharing, making it the perfect spot for a sweet indulgence with friends. If you’re looking for a unique dessert experience, Oakobing won’t disappoint!

Google
It's right by the parking lot, kinda small, but they have a little table outside. Service is fast, and their shaved ice is amazing—a must-try if you're around!

Google
Was super excited to try this place and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Super clean establishment which is a plus. Kiosk screen super easy to use. Music on point 🔥 👌 then our name was called and my eyes opened up wide. It was time to try the shaved ice cream and let me tell you it was delicious. Try adding the milk and just makes the texture creamy and smoother. Great place to catch up and chat.

Google
I did really enjoy this, but it tasted a lot like everyday good ice cream. I was going for Korean shaved ice, and so was a tiny bit disappointed, like a teeny tiny bit! (I know this is shaved ice. It just seemed more like ice cream to me). It was still flavorful, huge portion, with a nice texture. I'd definitely go again. I know everywhere is packed in the area on the weekend, so there is no reason to complain about it, but just know it gets crowded and it's very small on the inside. You can go to the back of the building where there are a few picnic tables.

James Rutter

Google
Oh my heavens... this is divine. Puts Hawaiian shaved ice to shame (which used to be my favorite). I can't really describe it, it's like gently folded snow that isn't icy in the slightest. It's not terribly sweet either, which makes you want more. This was the best shaved ice experience I've ever had and I've had a lot.

Yelp
We ate lunch from another place, then checked where we can have dessert and did not expect that Oakobing is just few steps away. They have one in Koreatown that we liked as well and then perfect that it is also here in Pasadena! You will NOT regret trying this. I think any flavor is so good. You just have to enter your order in their self-ordering kiosks and then they will call you when it's ready. Can order to share or single cup. ( around $7 to $15 and up per serving) .There was only one staff when we came but there were not a lot of people at that time so service was fast. Restroom is available for customers, there's not a lot of tables and chairs but can accommodate a group if there's not a lot of people. I will come back and back and back and back to this place.

Yelp
Such a yummy bingsu place in K-Town! I always wanted to try out Oakobing and it was really good! My friend and I ordered the Oreo Tiramisu bingsu to share and I found it really interesting how there's also single mini sizes here if you don't want to share. Only accepts credit and debit, no cash and American Express. Workers had cute and clean matching uniform. Tables are difficult to find during busy hours and some tables are extremely small. The bingsu was very unique and looked like no other bingsu I tried--it looked very fluffy and it was very refreshing overall. However, they had a lot of cocoa power for the Oreo Tiramisu bingsu that it was overpowering sometimes. The Oreo bits and mochi complimented it well! Overall, I'd come back again when I'm in the area! It is worth trying at least once!

Yelp
Stopped by Oakobing for some Bingsu, and it did not disappoint! We ordered the Mango Bingsu and Injeolmi Bingsu with red beans, and both were absolutely delicious. The Mango Bingsu was super refreshing--loaded with juicy, sweet mango chunks and paired perfectly with the soft, milky shaved ice. Every bite was light yet indulgent! The Injeolmi Bingsu was just as amazing, with a rich, nutty flavor from the roasted soybean powder, complemented by the chewy injeolmi rice cakes. The red beans added the perfect touch of sweetness and texture, making it a well-balanced dessert. The portions were generous, perfect for sharing, and the presentation was beautiful. The cozy ambiance and friendly service made the experience even better. If you're a fan of Bingsu, this place is a must-visit!

Yelp
After spending the afternoon at the Rose Bowl for Pokémon Fest, my friend and I wanted dessert. Been seeing Oakobing pop up on my friends' stories so no brainer to head on over. Carlo scarfed his melon mango after two blinks and actually got a second flavor (green tea). Loved my matcha bingsu and found the texture to be smooth and creamy. Mochi was YOMZ. My lactose intolerant self was fighting for her life later but all worth it for this Korean sweet treat.

Yelp
Yum yum you know this place is popular for a reason! The regular size is large and my friend and I couldn't kill it but it sure was delicious :)

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Pet friendly as well! Took my siblings and they fell in love Was a kiosk that you can order from that made it quick and easy
google avatar

Airi G.

Yelp
Everyone comes here for the shaved ice, as they should, but another item that's worth trying is the injeolmi latte. It comes with a latte base that's not sweet and topped with milk flavored shaved ice. The combo is the right amount of sweetness and creaminess when mixing in the shaved ice. This is an underrated item that should definitely be at the top of your list if you love roasted soybean powder. We also got the single-serve black sesame shaved ice which is still great for sharing with two people. It comes with mochi which is a nice way to change up the texture although it wasn't the freshest. You order at the kiosk and the food comes out pretty quickly. There's a decent amount of seating inside but it might get full during what I like to call dessert hour.
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
I usually like their black sesame and green tea flavors, but decided to try their strawberry flavor today. The strawberry flavor is a little artificial, kind of like the artificially flavored strawberry Yahoo drink. It gave me some childhood nostalgia, but I prefer more natural tastes now. While I will return to my usual flavors at Oakobing, I am still impressed by the smooth shaved ice texture and the tall size that serves 2-4 people for each of their flavors. I did notice they have single serving sizes now...but that will not affect my consumption of Korean shaved ice one bit.

Yelp
Shaved ice is perfect for any hot day, or cold if you're like me. I love to eat cold things on chilly days because it doesn't melt before you get to enjoy it. Lighter and fluffier than traditional ice cream but more creamy than an icicle. This is honestly the perfect dessert to have if you're craving for something sweet but not too overpowering that it'll leave you feeling gross afterwards. I used to have to drive to ktown for oakabing so I'm so happy that they opened a location in Pasadena. The mango melon shaved ice is my favorite. The shaved ice is mango flavored, topped with honeydew melon and drizzled with condensed milk. The small size is HUGE and easily feeds 2. You order at the digital kiosk and when the order is ready you pick up at the counter. Process is pretty fast. The shop itself is pretty small, around 8 tables inside and there's 2 outdoor tables so it does get pretty busy especially after dinner so plan accordingly.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
I've tried Oakobing with friends but this was the first time I got to try the Mango Melon Ice! It's definitely milky and Instagramable and nice to share with friends! Maybe because mangoes aren't in season right now, but it didn't really taste like mango. The melon was nice, although I wish we had metal spoons to be able to scrape out more of the melon once you get to the bottom. We were able to share the ice with 5 people and feel satisfied :) On the weekday, it wasn't busy at all and there's some street parking available. The lot next to the shop is a bit expensive though.

Yelp
Overall Experience: It's great to see Okaobing in Pasadena as the k-town location can get very busy. I think this is a great dessert spot in Pasadena and the bingsu is always great! Love the fruits and texture of the bingsu.. If you haven't tried korean bingsu in the past, this place is a must try! Dessert: Love the variety of flavors and bingsu is very refreshing and not too sweet. They also give you condensed milk on the side to pour onto the bingsu for additional sweetness! Portion Size: Great portion size. The Full size is definitely shareable for 2 people, max 3. I do see people getting the mini portions. Service: Not much going on here. They make the bingsu behind the counter and that's about it. Ambiance: Ambiance is okay - this place isn't as busy as the k-town location but this is also a pretty small location. Presentation: Dessert always look great! Parking Situation: There's no dedicated parking area for this location but you have to find street parking or a parking structure.

Yelp
Sesame flavor is delicious with red bean topping. the single portion was a really filling treat shared among the two of us! We did get a pretty skimpy amount of mochi topping for what I payed. Ordered at the same time as my friend, except her order came with too much mochi and we only got 4 pieces. Would've been tastier if it had come with a little more toppings. We ordered to go and ate at the park. the dining setting is not that comfortable but i recommend taking it to go
google avatar

Rungsima V. T.

Yelp
Yummy refreshing shaved ice. Kids love strawberry flavor. Single serve in good enough for sharing if you order more than one. The full size is huge! Order at kiosk. They usually have only one person making it so the wait time maybe a little longer. Limited amount of table.

Yelp
OVERALL : My top fav place for Korean shaved ice (bingsu), but I am a creature of habit and always end up ordering my fav item on the menu -- the Mango Melon Shaved Ice. Their ice is so fluffy and flavorful especially with the fresh toppings and condensed milk -- you won't find plain hard ice bits with sugary syrups poured on here! Their Ktown location is my fav, but it is nice that they also have a Pasadena location when I don't want to deal with the LA chaos. Their store is small, but they have a self-order tablet that helps save time. Our order came out pretty fast, although all the tables inside were full so we ended up just enjoying our order outside. I like that they have a varied menu and 2 size options! PARKING : Parking is not my fav because the store is located in Old Town Pasadena, meaning there's a lot of metered street parking and paid parking lots. They are right next to a paid lot, but we ended up parking a little further (street parking) and just walked around since the area had a lot of other food / shops to check out FOOD/DRINKS : Mango Melon Shaved Ice - Mango flavored shaved ice (individual size) with fresh melon balls on top and a side of condensed milk. So refreshing on a hot day! The melon shaved ice is creamy and fluffy without being overly sweet. Melon balls are juicy and the condensed milk adds some nice sweetness! The individual size was actually good enough for 2 ppl to share :)

Yelp
Oakobing in Pasadena offers a yummy dessert experience . The interior layout is compact and can feel crowded, especially during peak hours. Despite the tight space, the vibe is casual and laid-back. When it comes to the treats, I usually opt for the Oreo Tiramisu, which is a standout--rich, creamy, and indulgent. I typically get the larger size (around $15), which is more than enough for my family of four to share. You place your order at a kiosk and then wait for your number to be called. There's no direct interaction with staff, which works fine but can feel a bit impersonal. Once your order is ready, it's left on the counter for you to pick up. While the transaction process might seem odd, it does seem to be an efficient system for them. Overall, Oakobing is a great spot for a sweet treat, especially if you're in the mood for something shareable with family or friends. Just be prepared for a crowded space and a self-service ordering experience.

Yelp
White tables with white chairs and benches. Korean music blasting. There is enough seating for about 15-20 people inside, no outdoor seating that we saw. For a group of 7 at 4pm, we were able to find seating. We ordered single servings for strawberry, mango, and injeolmi and that was plenty for us. All the flavors were creamy, not tart. By far the favorite was the injeolmi (mochi came with it) No employees taking your orders, just a self-service kiosk. Service was fairly quick. Great place to do a quick pit stop.

Yelp
Oakobing is located two doors down from King Taco and also right next door to a parking lot. My husband, our little girl dog (yes this place allows dogs inside) and I came by on a Saturday night, around 8:35 pm. Being that it was hot night, everyone had the same idea, so we ended up waiting in line to order on the kiosk machine (please note that the 2 employees that we saw working, do not take your order and are busy filling the orders). We ended up purchasing: Strawberry Shaved Ice, taken to go, $14.99 prior to tax + side of condensed milk, $0.50 prior to tax- Portion size of the strawberry shaved ice is perfect for sharing with 2 people (and one little girl dog). We got the condensed milk on the side but that was a disappointment because it was very watery. It didn't really add much to the shaved ice and wouldn't recommend getting a side of it. ------------------------------- (Total= $17.08 after) It was pretty busy and the seating area inside isn't that big (there was also 2 tables outside). We were lucky to get a table but the floor and table were a little sticky and there were also a few gnats/ flies around (the door was open during the time we were there). Wait time for our shaved ice after we ordered was 18 minutes (according to the time stamp photos I took). I think this place could have been better for us if we didn't come on such a busy night and if the tables and floors were clean. I don't know if I would come back and would consider one of the many other shaved ice places in San Gabriel Valley in the near future.

Shagun B.

Yelp
Really unique dessert spot that me and my friends greatly enjoyed! I got the "plain" milk/cream flavored one and it didn't disappoint. Lots of options to choose from.
google avatar

May W.

Yelp
Credit card/ Tap only. There are no cashiers, so order through the monitor. While it's one of my favorite shaved iced places one of the downsides is finding seating at the store. Single Serving of Green Tea: Service was great, order was served in about 10 mins. Shaved green tea was so light and fluffy. Paired with light condensed milk and bite sized mochi. So refreshing for dessert.
google avatar

Courtny D.

Yelp
I came here with my partner and his coworkers after work for a refreshing, sweet treat! So needed for this Cali heat! I have had Oakobing several times growing up and can proudly say they continue to have the best shaved ice texture and aesthetic presentations! We got the Green Tea and Injeolmi flavors. The green tea was my favorite! I also love the toppings they include in their shaved ice, such as fun bite-sized mochi.
google avatar

Yoona L.

Yelp
It's nice to have a Korean shaved ice place in Pasadena. The upsides are they are super quick at getting your order out and service is automated at a kiosk so even if there is a line, it's usually fast. The not so good: no cash, stingy on the fruit, not very fresh fruit, some flavors like the strawberry have that artificial flavor and color, very sweet, small cramped seating space, workers don't clean the tables so it's often a sticky mess. But hey, if you're really craving Korean shaved ice and not too particular, this one should do just fine.
google avatar

Hannah H.

Yelp
If you ever find yourself looking for a sweet treat in Pasadena, I strongly recommend Oakobing. Their flavors are simple, but at the same time so elevated in presentation and taste. I've tried a good amount of their bingsoo flavors, but mango melon is by far my favorite. It is light and pairs so well with the refreshing scoops of melon. I usually get the single mango melon shaved ice, and I can easily share it with a 2 or 3 people. I really feel like I get my moneys worth here! The only downside that I would mention is that the store is small and that there is limited seating. Sometimes the line to order gets pretty long, so the shop feels extremely cramped and chaotic. The tables don't seem to be bussed regularly because they're often sticky from remnants of prior guests. Parking: In general, parking in Pasadena is not ideal. Most, if not all parking structures require pay and so does street parking. I know that the De Lacey Parking Structure is $1 for the first 2 hours and is about a 5-10 minute walk from Oakobing. Old Town Pasadena is so beautiful (especially at night) and full of character so this walk doesn't bother me at all!
google avatar

Angelica C.

Yelp
Went to Oakobing and tried their mango melon bingsu. The bingsu itself was light and fluffy, with a smooth mango flavor that wasn't too sweet. The fresh melon balls on the side were a nice touch. I like how it came with a little cup of condensed milk so you have the option to drizzle it all over the top for that extra bit of sweetness. The place is small, so it fills up quickly. It's not ideal for large groups, but it's great if you're just hanging out with a friend or two. If you're into bingsu and haven't been here yet, you should definitely give it a try!
google avatar

Natalie A.

Yelp
This place continues to satisfy my shaved ice cravings. At this point I've tried most of their flavors and all of them are just exactly what you hope for. The shaved ice is fluffy and melts in your mouth. The portion size is huge! But it doesn't leave you feeling overly stuffed. I haven't had a chance to try any of their drinks yet. The interior is a bit run-down looking and the seating is kind of on top of each other, but there are a few tables outside and public seating isn't too far. Service can take a bit depending on the day that you visit, but generally is polite. You pretty much order on a tablet and they call your number.
google avatar

josh D.

Yelp
Stopped by here to trying their shaved ice. It's a lot like eating soft snow. Was in Taipei recently and reminded me of "snow ice". Got the mango melon.. texture was great, not as flavorful as I'd hoped. Would prob come back at somepoint. Please was contactless with ordering only from a kiosk so service wasn't really a thing. Place was small with About 8 table for 2 people each. Make sure to clean ur own table.
google avatar

Aaron James Y.

Yelp
Probably not the best idea to have shaved ice when it's cold outside but it's definitely worth it for how yummy it is here. Oakobing is unique (to me at least) in where they freeze their flavors and then shave it compared to the usual process of flavoring shaved ice. You can taste that difference as each inch of the ice is evenly flavored. Definitely one of the best tasting shaved ice experiences I've had. The seating area is kinda smol but it's cozy and you can sorta watch the staff make your order. I wouldn't recommend coming here in a large group if you're trying to sit inside.
google avatar

Flora H.

Yelp
Pretty good shaved ice, not great, but there aren't a lot of options in the area so I'll give it 4 stars. It's a bit on the sweet side and not as authentic tasting as you'd get in Koreatown or Chinatown, but definitely will satisfy a craving.
google avatar

Joanna L.

Yelp
Finally got to try the Oakobing in Pasadena for the first time and it was delish! My friend and I shared the single-serving mango melon shaved ice and we couldn't even finish between the 2 of us! They're located off of the main street and the store is pretty small/narrow. There's a few tables, but I wouldn't bring large parties here and expect there to be enough seating. You order at the kiosk - contactless ordering - and wait for them to call your number or text your phone that it's ready. You can order for here or to go - the only difference is the lid/bag. I really liked the mango melon - it came with balls of frozen melon and the ice was nice and fluffy and not too sweet. The single serving is just under $9, which is not bad when you split it with a friend. There's a good amount of street parking all around (metered) and also the parking garages. I will definitely have to come back! It's so nice to not have to drive all the way to Koreatown for this now.
google avatar

Sagruilla P.

Yelp
This is 5 stars for the delicious shareable dessert that tasted like freshly picked strawberries. I want to go back again and again for this and to try other flavors. The layers of shaved ice with fresh fruit and condensed milk had great texture. Eating it during a heatwave, shared with the family, was communal and refreshing. Because it was so delicious and fresh, I am giving it a full five stars despite the imperfect ambiance. The shop was crowded, and even if there were a table available, it's not the most welcoming spot with the ultra bright lighting. Customers order through a touchscreen, and there aren't any front of house staff to answer questions (or to notice to flip tables). It felt both sterile and chaotic, so we took it to go and walked elsewhere. We will definitely return though.

Yelp
I did not review the first time I was here as it was take out. My daughter and I came here for their mango melon ball Oakobing Korean shaved ice. We had found metered parking space right in front of the storefront, we were lucky or else you'd have to park at the parking lot next door for like $10 or some ridiculous price that doesn't even allow you to pick your time on the lot. The first time I had parked there, it gave me parking time like until 3:00 am and I was only parking to pick up my Oakobing dessert. There should be a half hr limited parking or something to that effect, time allowed to finish the shaved ice. But as you enter, there are few small tables to the side and most times are filled. You walk up to the kiosk and order. Simple. The first time, I stood there waiting, 2nd time I went with my daughter, my name was called and my daughter picked up our order and shared the mango melon Oakobing. They do provide water and cups self serve. My daughter said their small tables were wobbly and almost spilled our water. We enjoyed the mango melon. It was refreshing. And we ordered extra mango poeces side. I should have taken a picture, but it wasn't the firm and fresh pieces and one piece had a brownish/blackish thing on it. I should have taken away a star for that, but we enjoyed the melon balls and the shaved ice itself so much, I left it in. We should have taken back the mango cup pieces, as we ended up throwing it away. Next time, we'll check before starting to eat it, if she wants the extra mango pieces. I was fine with just the melon balls. Thanks Oakobing team for your service, for being here, and making delicious shaved ice dessert!!
google avatar

Amenda L.

Yelp
The space is pretty small, and it felt really competitive to get a seat. Also, no one comes by to wipe the table down, so if you are unlucky, your table may be super sticky, BUT I liked the Bing soo so much I'd still come again We ordered the mango melon Bing soo. I loved that they put it in the melon. It was the perfect dish for a hot night. The ice was so delicately shaven that each bite was heaven. The ratio between fruit and ice was perfect. Would come again, but be aware there may not be any seats, and you might have to eat it in your car :/

Yelp
My husband was craving some Korean bingsu so he ordered through DoorDash on Tues, 4/16/2024 at around 8:00 PM. We got the following: 1 Mango Melon Shaved Ice - $17.99 Mango flavored shaved ice served on a whole melon bowl with fresh melon balls on top and a side of condensed milk. - Unimpressed. The shaved ice comes packed with a small spherical melon balls and two small sauced containers of condensed milk. - The melon balls were good. I'm glad they weren't tart and it was fresh. - Condensed milk tasted like a thin corn milk. I love me some regular condensed milk in my shaved ice, but this did not cut it for me. I did not agree with the flavor and did not like the runny consistency. - The shaved ice mango flavor was relatively faint. I do like how thin the bingsu is shaved and enjoyed the consistency of the ice. 1 Mango Shaved Ice 0 $17.99 Mango flavored shaved ice served with fresh mango and a side of condensed milk. - Also unimpressed. The mango shaved ice base is the same. I thought the order was just boring with ice + pieces of mango. There was nothing in the shaved ice, and it was just meh. The flavor got too repetitive. This order is def fit for two people. It's not possible for one person to finish this. Sadly, I'm incredibly unimpressed and thought both orders were overpriced. I would be willing to try the shaved ice in-person at the store location, but I didn't particularly care for this and do not recommend ordering this to-go.
google avatar

Yelp
Don't get the honeydew melon. The melon balls were as hard as rock, not ripe and lacked any sweetness whatsoever. Sometimes there's not much care put into making these. Ingredients can get nickel-and-dimey.
google avatar

Lael C.

Yelp
Mango - 4/5 taste great, nice mango flavor Injeomi - 2.5/5 - base ice flavor taste like store bought vanilla frosting. Compared to Sul and Beans, this place is not as good. Both texturally and flavor this place really doesn't compare. Texture is not the soft snow shaved ice you might expect, it's a shaved but dense icy texture (see video).

Yelp
What an absolute gem in the heart of Pasadena! I waked in and a very kind gentleman by the name on Jun helped me out. He walked me through their menu and helped me decide what to order. I went with their popular Mango Melon which is a Mango flavored shaved ice served on a whole melon bowl with fresh melon balls on top and a side of condensed milk. But I didn't stop there (lol) I also had to try out Injeolmi which is a Milk flavored shaved ice with mochis, layers of Injeolmi (roasted soybean powder), sweet red beans on the side and a side of condensed milk. Both were ready in minutes by Jun and served. I enjoyed both of them by their cozy seating by the window. They were extremely flavorful, so satisfying and fluffy. I can't wait to be back and try more flavors.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Great price and great options especially if you and your parties want different flavors you can opt for a single serving which is still a decent size for a great price. The place is definitely on the tiny size with an only row of tables to sit at so be on the lookout for a table to clear while you're in line, they do provide a map of where outdoor tables are located at also on the door. The shaved ice itself is super flavorful and fluffy. Not your typical shaved ice that you would think of with the hard ice textures. Here, it's as if you're biting into pillows of ice. Definitely worth the wait in line.
google avatar

Yelp
Another hot day so it's perfect for some bingsoo. You order at a touch screen, no cash, credit or debit purchases only. I tried the injeolmi, mango and Oreo flavors. I ordered the single so we can try more flavors. The mango was the best, the ice has a lot of mango flavor and the very ripe mango went well with the dessert. I really liked the injeolmi flavor too, it was not too sweet. The mochi was a little hard, so I am glad I didn't get it as an extra for the other flavors. The ice here, overall is super light and airy, I think they were all great, it just depends on what flavors you like. I would like to try to black sesame next time.

Yelp
I visited with high expectations, and overall, it was a delightful experience. The shaved ice texture is light and airy, almost like eating a cloud. It's a refreshing treat, especially on warm days. They offer a range of flavors, including strawberry, matcha, black sesame, and more. I recommend trying the injeolmi (roasted soybean powder) flavor--it has a delightful nutty taste. All bingsu come with a drizzle of condensed milk, adding a touch of sweetness It's super small, and seating is scarce. Prepare for a bit of a wait or consider taking your order to go. Unfortunately, my bingsu was missing the red bean topping. It's a shame because that's a key component of the traditional Korean dessert. Oakobing is a must-visit for dessert enthusiasts. Just be prepared for the small space and the bustling crowd. If you're lucky, you'll get a spot at one of the outdoor tables in the back.

Yelp
I love icecream, but sometimes I want to eat something lighter - this is my go-to nowadays on days like that. :) My sister LOVES their strawberry single serve shaved ice. I tried their melon and green tea flavors. The green tea flavor is nice with the side of mochi bits. It's nice and easy to order. You select what you want using the kiosk and - bada bing bada boom - your order is ready. You'll get a text once your order is ready, so you'll know when it's ready if you decide to step outside. The cafe itself is a casual spot, unassuming and chill. :)

Yelp
I am soooo so happy there is an Oakobing in Pasadena! I frequent the Howlin Ray's down the street but didn't find out until this weekend that Oakobing was nearby. I dragged my dad and brother to take me and was pleasantly surprised to know that they also enjoyed the bingsu. My brother ordered the americano and finished it within minutes. Great experience and I can't wait to come again!

Yelp
Really solid shaved ice/bing soo shop in Old Town Pasadena and a nice alternative if you don't want to get traditional ice cream or boba for once. On its own, Oakobing shaved ice is decent. It isn't too sweet, the cream in the shaved ice is pretty lightweight, and the ingredients like the fruit are pretty fresh. However, the mochi isn't fresh since it isn't very soft. I do think Sul and Beans has better shaved ice because it's much finer and they use a lot more toppings, plus you can add as much condensed milk as you want. They also have a lot more flavors whereas I think that Oakobing's menu is a lot more limited. I do like that for Oakobing you can choose smaller sizes for only $6.50 which is great if you don't want to commit to a full size. The seating is very limited and it can get very busy, so getting a seat can be very competitive. It's not a place where you can sit and talk for hours as you should leave immediately once you're done to make room for other people who are waiting.

Yelp
Should you try this place? Yes Should you get off the comfortable couch right now and drive to Oakobing? Also Yes. My partner and I decided to do a late night run for some ice cream/shaved ice. I will say, this did not disappoint. The best way I can describe the texture of the shaved ice is: it's similar to fresh snow. Really! And the flavors are amazing, I am definitely going back. You can also add on fresh fruit, condensed milk and other toppings. Some helpful tips: 1. You order at kiosk 2. See photos: the strawberry flavor serving is a single size, the green tea flavor is regular.

Yelp
Very good - we tried the sesame tea flavor and that's a really good invention that I have not had anywhere else. I usually try not to do business at places like this more than about once a month, it's too easy to drop a lot of money at such places but I'll look forward to returning here sometime. There aren't many places like it around the area.

Yelp
The place is a bit small and we had to find a metered parking spot on the side of the road, but we were able to make it to this Oakabing location without any trouble. The interior is pretty tight with a small seating area outside with limited seating inside of the shop. The service is a kiosk with a pretty quick time for preparation. My party ordered the melon and the Oreo bingsu with several different toppings added. I think that the price for the dessert seems fine, but the extra toppings definitely have a bit of a pricier feel that I would feel better about if it wasn't as expensive. The melon flavored bingsu was light and refreshing with the fruit and the presentation is very cute in the half melon bowl. The condensed milk added a bit more flavor and the mochi paired well with the texture to the shaved ice. The Oreo had a coffee shot, condensed milk, oreo crumbs, cocoa powder and mochi. I enjoyed the flavor of the Oreo one more than the melon one because it tasted like a tiramisu and had great texture with soft and chewy with the harder cookie crumbs. Overall, the desserts were yummy with a bit pricier range, but I think it's a nice end to a night out. I'd come back if I was in the area and craved some shaved ice.

Yelp
Usually on social media we are bombarded with such positivity that it begins to feel not real any more. These seem like fake lives that people live online and portray things that just aren't true. We always see people smiling and happy and it makes us feel like we are less than. When I saw the photos from Oakobing online, it made me feel like this place couldn't be real. Like how could a depiction of food look this amazing? It had to have been AI generated. And even if it wasn't, there was no way that it could taste as good as it looked. To make sure, I had to try it myself. And let me tell you, it holds up. Not only is the presentation a work of art done by a real human and not artificially generated pixels, but it tastes even better than it looks! There wasn't anyone as glad to be as wrong as I was that day. Sometimes it's okay to be vulnerable and to show sorrow or anger or that you're upset. Sometimes, before you see the good, you have to experience the disappointment in order to appreciate what is good. But it's even better when something you expect to be disappointed by does the opposite and leaves you extremely satisfied!

Yelp
Food - 4/5 I've tried the mango melon, strawberry, black sesame and injeolmi and think that the strawberry is the best. A perfectly light and sweet treat with a mix of fruit makes this the perfect treat. Service - 4/5 You order at a kiosk so there isn't much human interaction. I will note that the default portions are massive and so I always opt for the single size and even that is perfect for eating alone or sharing. Ambience - 4/5 There isn't much seating in this spot so it can be competitive to find a seat. Additionally it can be loud between the guest enjoying their cold treats and the machines making everything. There isn't someone who (i've noticed in the few times coming) that comes around cleaning up tables so I've definitely had to clean up after others or would sit at a sticky table.

Yelp
Great korean shave iced. Location is small but service is fast. So turn around is fast. Depend of how long the people sit. Parking is limited. Parking garage nearby within walking distance. If you lucky, you get the street parking. Free at night.
