Where to Watch Portland Fireworks on Fourth of July 2018 | Eater Portland

"Kid-friendly amusement park, picnic site, and roller-skating venue Oaks Park is hosting its own fireworks display and staying open until midnight. Access to the park is just $6 for adults, $3 for kids under 15, and $4 for seniors over 60, with picnic tables first come, first serve. Families should bring their own food for a picnic, but outside alcohol is strictly prohibited." - Alex Frane

My husband and I visited Oaks Amusement Park for the first time on the Fourth of July after seeing their holiday special on Instagram—about $40 per person for an all-day pass, which we thought was a great deal for a local year-round park! We arrived around 6 p.m. and stayed through the amazing 20-minute firework show. The park had a welcoming vibe with lots of picnic tables, shaded spots, and space for families to set up their own grills. We didn’t try the vendor food, but there were plenty of options. Ride lines moved quickly, even with a few people cutting in line—especially noticeable at the go-karts, which had the longest wait due to safety briefings (understandably so). Most of the staff were young, friendly, and upbeat—even on a holiday! A few things to note: the bathrooms were cramped and not very clean, with limited sinks and no hand sanitizer stations. For a family-friendly park, I expected better hygiene options. Parking was also a bit chaotic—only one way in and out, and though staff were present, they didn’t do much to help guide traffic. We were also bummed the roller rink was closed and mini golf wasn’t included in the pass. Despite that, we had a great time and plan to return. Highly recommend for families and casual fun—just come prepared for the crowds and bring your own sanitizer!

This is the only amusement park in the Portland area, and it's been a community mainstay for a very long time. There's a fairly decent amount of rides here, and there's a carnival or county fair feel to it. There is a roller coaster, vertical drop rides, bumper cars, go-karts, a roller staking rink, a large picnic area, and even a small train you can ride which goes around the park. There are games like you'd find at the midway at a fair, and food available at various places. Parking can be tough here, and it's pay to park so make sure to stop at the kiosk, get your parking pass and leave it visible in the car before heading into the park. They sometimes have fairs and festivals here, and usually there is an Oktoberfest held here picnic area.

Had a really fun day at the park yesterday with my kiddo and nieces. There was a nice variety of rides which even my short little two-year-old could enjoy. We went on a kids' day where adults are free and you pay for the kids' tickets and they just need an adult on some rides. The staff could use some training so they know how many spots they can fit. Lots of unnecessary delays because the staff were undertrained. Overall very fun. Kids had a blast which is all we could ask for.

My family had a fantastic time at this vintage amusement park, which opened in 1905. Grandpa (me) even tried a few thrill rides for the first time in many years—Tilt-A-Whirl and Scrambler and survived! The bumper cars were a blast as well. The grandkids, ages 11 and 8, were in Nirvana at the Oaks. It was an overcast day and it rained occasionally but we didn’t mind because lines were short. Highly recommended!

I took my 2 teenagers, 16 and 14, on 4th of July. $$Cost was decent 40$ each admission & unlimited rides. As well as a firework display at 10 pm. Park opened at noon. Yikes! A long time riding rides and entertaining 2 teens. Parking was little tough but we got it lol we had stopped prior to arriving. Also, and picked up food for lunch ie. sandwiches, snacks, a couple of drinks... *saved Mom some $$ for sure lol 😆 Overall great investment. I even ride 3 rides. Regretted it immediately after the second one book gluten. For punishment and hence, the third one... lol the line started getting long as the crowd got bigger. We arrived about one left, close to 530/ 6 o'clock. We were exhausted and didn't mind misding the explosions. My sixteen year old had never been to oaks park, so we are home and she was wiped out.She slept till the next day, afternoon. Total, roughly 250$ for the festivities and lots of pictures and memories later... Great day spent w/ my kids 💓 loved it!

Me and my daughter go every year and have a great time. The prices are absolutely affordable. And you are able to conveniently walk the whole Park and play at all the stands, as well as get on all the rides within the day. I love how they offer snacks, and food to eat as it is necessary to refuel. The games are priced at a good amount and I love how you do not need to have too much skill to be able to win. My daughter felt like a big winner when we were able to play games where she was actually able to win the prize that she wanted. I really do appreciate how they have games where they let kids win because at the end of the day That’s what it’s about And it helps them Make good memories. The little train that they have that goes along The perimeter of the Park is an absolute jewel. This ride is fun for all ages, and it was one of our absolute favorites, as its something that makes the Park stand out for it’s unique train ride. I recommend anyone who has not been here to absolutely try it. It’s definitely an experience, one for the Books.

We attended a 2nd-grade birthday party at the Skating Rink. Everything was set up nicely. There was a mix of ages and abilities on the floor which was encouraging. The rink includes a small cafe, chairs and benches to sit and watch the skaters, an area just for beginners to practice, a small skating shop, a small arcade, lockers, and an atm. They are card only, no cash from what I observed. There was a separate window for birthday party check-in which was nice. There is a mandatory basic waiver that you need to fill out, but I recommend that you fill it out online before visiting. I appreciated that they had plenty of staff on the floor who were clearly identified. They were helpful whenever someone fell or needed assistance. The Wurlitzer pipe organ was being played live by an organist! You can bring your roller skates or inline skates from home if you prefer or use their roller skates. Call or check online for daily events and lessons. Everyone had a fun time!

Oaks Park is a place of joy and nostalgia! Lots of parking and only $4! I remember coming here over the summer so many years ago. We visited again over Easter weekend and the park is just as I remember it! It’s quaint, fun, and fun by our community. My little sister had a blast. We didn’t have to wait at all for tickets. The lines were nonexistent so she would loop back around to ride again. We made sure to purchase souvenirs and drinks. It’s not Disneyland or Universal but it’s ours here in the PNW.

Yelp
I didn't even know there's an amusement park existed in Portland until I read advertised about their haunted house this year! It's a fun place for family with kids to spend a few hours. I haven't been to a haunted house since 2021, let alone 3 of them in the same night. It's almost impossible to scare me, especially for staging objects such as haunted houses, similarly with horror movies; the very end of the haunted castle got me a little since the illusion made you think and feel as though you were dropping into a hole!!!!! I won't say more because it'll be a spoiler for those who haven't been in it. The roller coaster looks terrifyingly quick and fun! I will definitely be back for it. Facility was clean with well lit restrooms. It was after 9pm for me so most food carts were closed. I want to come back for the elephant ears cart! Important Notes: -The GPS will take you to the Sellwood Riverfront Park parking lot so you have to keep driving to the end of the road, then you will arrive at Oaks Amusement Park to your left. -You have to pay for parking! There are meter stations. I had to pay $3 on a Sunday's night. I didn't read the rate for weekdays.

Yelp
If my 8th grade field trip wasn't the first time I visited Oaks Park back in 19[redacted], it was certainly the first I remember. Having been to Disneyland only once, a few years prior, I had something to compare it to, and despite it not being anywhere near the same level as the Magic Kingdom, Oaks Park has its own small town charm, and when sprinkled with a dash of nostalgia, conjures up similar, warm memories. Those nostalgia goggles unfortunately haven't red-shifted in the 30 years since that first visit, largely due to things like inflation: an all-day ride bracelet for an adult sets you back $43-$48, the larger sum during peak days (I'm assuming that means weekends and holidays), whereas those under 48" can snag one for basically half-price. Darn, my wife *almost* made it under the cut-off! Additionally, if you're no longer thrilled by thrill rides, the bracelet is definitely not worth it, which means the *visit* is not worth it, so you're better off staying home. They really should offer a per-ride purchase option; we came to the park to attend a free on-site event, but I really wanted to take my toddler son on the carousel, although I wasn't about to spend half a Benjamin to do it. If you're willing to fork over that amount, make sure to get your money's worth: arrive early, leave late. Eat cheap carnival food, and ride the rides until you barf it back up. And after sunset, the park *is* rather enchanting, even just to take a stroll down the main corridor. All-day parking is $5, and admission to the park itself is free, although your a la carte entertainment options are somewhat limited without the ride bracelet, but include the roller-skating rink, mini-golf, and the carnival games, which require purchased tickets. There's also plenty of covered tables and green space to spawl out for a party or picnic. I'll never forget seeing Oaks Park featured in an episode of my favorite Dutch "reality" show, Wie is de Mol, when the contestants ran a gauntlet of dashing between rides and grabbing envelopes of money, while wearing laser tag vests and dodging incoming fire from unseen opponents. It was one of the best episodes of the show, in the only season to feature the US (specifically Oregon) to-date (available on YouTube, with English subtitles, for the curious)! Sadly, unless you're one of those contestants, a viewer of the show, teen, tween, or a sunset-spectacled spectator gazing back upon it through the mists of time, the magic of Oaks Park is as faded as the paint on its muraled walls.

Yelp
I first came here over 15 years ago when it was more bare bones and you could ride or two rides and leave if you wanted. Now you have to buy a $40 bracelet but it does let you do EVERYTHING. That includes go karts, mini golf, and bumper cars, in addition to the fair rides you expect. I love their graviton, which has a beautiful view of the sky. And now they have this amazing lil food court with great shave ice and some fried delights, including vegetarian options. Top notch churros. But you can also still get the classic pizza, soft serve, and burgers. There are water refill stations around and plenty of nice bathrooms. You can bring well-behaved dogs on leashes. There are plenty of picnic tables in the shade if you need to cool off. This place rules.

Yelp
Did the three haunted houses for Halloween. It was decent. Great little place to go. Have to remember it's there year round.

Yelp
Oaks Amusement Park is a staple in the Sellwood district of Portland. It is a hidden gem with a hundred years of history from train riders to epic performances. Our favorite is the famous Wurlitzer pipe organ hanging above the roller skating rink. It is played by the very professional Keith Fortune who has been there for years. Our only regret is that we didn't discover Oaks Parks sooner. We love the rides, the event, the mascot, the food, the whole Retro place!!! The park itself is open seasonally, but you can always get your skate on!

Yelp
I usually come here during haunting season and it's always chaotic because nothing is ever easy to find. It's fun and the prices are okay. Food is basic fair food and staff are mostly disinterested youth. Recently came for skating since I haven't been in years. It was pretty fun to try again after all these years and we were glad it wasn't crowded. Skates are super old. It seems like they haven't upgraded those in decades. The laces are destroyed and you're trying to thread them through the holes when they are all splayed out, not an easy task. One was so short I could barely tie it while the other was far too long. They have some games in there and the restrooms are fine, but way in the back. My biggest gripe with OP is that last year they started charging for parking. People are paying to be here so the greed of parking fees for your own business is quite disgusting. And you can say it's only a few dollars, but that's for now. No doubt it will continue to escalate and likely be higher during things like haunt season. To be honest, I think their prices are a little high in general. Skating only goes for 4 hours so when you think about spending over $20 per person for that activity alone (got to rent those skates too) it's just not worth it, let alone if you spend less time. Some of the rides are kiddie while others are truly horrific (being upside down for long periods did no one any favors). Then my friend's kid getting stuck on one of the rides, just not a great ending to that trip either. This may kind of be your only choice for activities like this, but be prepared to pay.

Yelp
Came here for the October fest. Great food and music . They had little shops to purchase homemade items or you can pay extra to do the rides too.

Yelp
Brought family here from out of town. The kids loved the rides and games. Very spendy, though! Ride bracelets are $44 pp, and game tickets are $40 for 10 tickets. We only spent around 2 hours here and dropped about $300 for 4 ride bracelets, 20 game tickets, and a few food items. Some of the rides were out of service, which was disappointing. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the food is good. The park is clean and so are the restrooms. They have plenty of benches and picnic tables throughout the park. Most of the rides are in direct sunlight, so bring a hat and water. Fun time, but be prepared to spend a lot of money!

Yelp
Fantastic, everything! Rides, Skate Ring, staff, food not to shabby either.Highly recommend it, right along the famous Willamette River!

Yelp
(Late post) The Thirteen Year Old's Birthday: Oaks Park (I have more to post about her bday but this is just about OP). Just a coincidence that we went near her birthday, but this happened very close to it so I'll include it. We try to go every couple of years but rarely do we ride rides together as when she was younger she was too small / I was too big for the small rides, and as she got older she would bring a friend and I would chaperone and just maybe ride a couple of rides with them. But this day was special because we got there when it opened and we rode all the rides together, and all day at that. She chose almost every ride and was very exited about that. The newer roller coaster Adrenaline Peak she had ridden previously (and at that time getting on a ride like that was a big deal), but this time around she was very excited for us to be on the roller coaster together. This was also her first time driving the go-karts. She was very nervous about that (I had to beg and bribe for that one). She was so slow that everyone passed her and then she was in last place and then everyone passed her a second time. She went as slow as possible but I think it was a pretty big deal for to conquer that fear. She also did AtmosFEAR (the one that goes 360 degrees) for the first time and was very proud of herself for conquering that. It was a very fun day, she loved getting to chose which ride we rode on (and since it wasn't busy we rode the rides over and over), along with conquering some fears, and eating lots of junk food. Days like this can turn into kids getting bored or acting spoiled or moody, but she was so grateful and happy. A long overdue father daughter trip to Oaks Park. A lot of smiles for the both of us. So thankful to have a kid that is fun to hang out with and whose appreciative at that...

Yelp
I went to the roller rink and the rule list on the website made me worried about my trip here, saying that I can't wear a helmet or my super sick hello kitty hat, but the workers were chill. No complaints really good place for my first skate, thats it. I don't get the bad reviews. I'm done with the review now. Thanks. I put a photo of my super sick hello kitty hat too. Please compliment it. Thats it now for real the review is over. Thanks. You should go, to the rink but keep reading the review, even though I have nothing else to say, I just feel like I need to keep saying stuff but really I have nothing to say. Goodbye.

Yelp
Not an ideal place for new time skaters. This place was packed on the weekday. It took 30+ minutes to purchase tickets and skates. I felt bad for the folks who purchased tickets ahead of time as they had a longer wait. Skate shoe sizes were wrongly given three times even though I gave my daughter's physical shoe for sizing. At the shoe counter, attendant was spraying disinfectant shoe spray in our direction where we inhaled a bunch of the fumes. Once we received the correct shoe, we went to the beginner area. There was no one assisting in the young beginner area. Kids were knocking down my child, kicking the back of her skates, rushing her and breathing down her neck, and passing her. It was chaos. We spent 30.00 for 15 minutes of skating. To top it off, someone parked like a jerk and didn't pull up all the way. I had to spend 20 minutes backing in and out to ensure I didn't hit their car or anyone else's. This was a very frustrating experience and we won't return to this rink because of it. Two stars because staff otherwise were very friendly. They just didn't know what they were doing...

Yelp
Well well well. Oaks Park. Let's start with the crazy line. Whoa. Why the long line? Well we got to the "second" line, which was for parties and those who had tickets. Well we moved over to that line only to have utter terror bestowed upon us. The security guard woman with the mohawk is a TAKE NO CRAP kind of lady. She gives 0 cares about anything you say to her. We said we were there for a birthday party, gave the name and she just shook her head and said NOPE. So I said maybe her husband put it under his name, tried that and the same response. Then she said you can call them but they have to come OUT HERE and give you the tickets. Okay then. The woman legit loves her power over the door security and intimidating people. If that's what they were looking for in hiring her...NAILED it!!! I had originally thought evening was adult skate only. No. There were far more kids there than adults which made for a lot of pile ups and jammed up skating. I am not a poor skater but I'm also not confident enough to zoom around a pack of people. The rink was cleanish. Trash cans overflowing and irritated employees galore though. I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling from the staff and I absolutely hated that the rink was PACKED. It made for a less than enjoyable time. The legendary Oaks Park rink was legendary crap this night. I might try it again since skating itself was fun but definitely not on a Saturday night!!!

Yelp
It's always a good time here whether with friends or family. My friend and I just went to SCAREGROUNDSPDX at their location. Fun times. Check out their site for more info. Fun rides, snacks, and entertainment.

Yelp
The roller rink is amazing! It is historic, has a beautiful, nicely polished wood floor, and even a live organist playing a Wurlitzer organ. I had not roller skated in years and had a blast here. On the other hand, the food at the park for sale is subpar. We ate at George's Grill, where the only option is to buy a burger WITH curly fries AND a soda, even if you don't want all of that combined. They do not sell a la carte. The prices are high and the fries are terrible. The burger was fine -- freshly grilled. My wife got the pulled pork, which she said was dry. Next time we'll bring our own food and have a picnic on one of the many available picnic tables. Note that the traffic getting into the place when it opens on a weekend is quite bad.

Andrea H.

Yelp
Why does Oaks Park hate Italians? Is it because our beautiful tans that we can't sit on the tables outside at the Italian Festival? Also, the meatball line is 4 miles long. It's a trap because us Italians would die of starvation for a meatball.
google avatar

Damien C.

Yelp
Well my first review got deleted so all I'll say is a place where people can get stuck upside-down on a ride for half an hour before being able to be freed really isn't the safest around. Wouldn't be surprised if this incident happened due to negligence from the head of the rides department. Nearly 50 bucks for a bracelet isn't worth serious head trauma lol
google avatar

Wayne G.

Yelp
This is a place that is a must go. Can't say enough good things. Family owned on the banks of the willamette river. It's beautiful. Family type rides for all ages. The highlight is roller skating and I can't emphasize enough you how cool it is. It's like stepping back twenty years. The hardwood floors are amazing. The best thing overall, the pricing is very reasonable. Plenty of parking. And you can stay one hour or an entire afternoon. Enjoy!
google avatar

Valerie A.

Yelp
The Park has been a staple literally through my entire life. It's actually the only amusement park I have been through my childhood. My company does an annual picnic there and the cost of the bracelets are about $50 even at the group rate and now they are additional charges for parking. The parking fee seems extremely unnecessary in addition to the increase rates on bracelets.

Dallas B.

Yelp
The roller rink staff seem to only be there to ruin people's time with their power tripping and scolding people for arbitrary rules. "No hats!" "Go faster or get off the floor" (said to someone scooting along the wall to get their footing) I took out my phone to take a picture while skating and got a "You've already been told, No Phones!! Put it away or get off the floor!" ...I had not been told that. And I was skating along just fine, not in anyone's way. The place itself is a fun time, classic roller rink vibes. Just a staff that takes themselves WAAAAY too seriously. It also seemed like they picked people at random to harass. There were literally a dozen people wearing hats, skating right by them...nothing. Super odd

Yelp
Saw the new season of Stranger Things recently and had the urge to go roller skating and fight a bully. Everyone was really nice though so there were no bullies to be found. It's great to see how far the younger generation has come but I can't say the same about their fashion sense. The roller rink still feels like it's from the 80's but all the kids were dressed like it was the 90's, while someone was playing tunes from the 50's on the organ. It is truly a time period identity crisis that you must experience in person.

Langston B.

Yelp
I did not like my experience I did not get to go on any of the rides I would recommend not to go here if you are over 6 years cuz if you do wanna do a ride over at oaks park its going to be a painful ride when you gotta spend $48 and yea you heard me right $48 to go on the train and be able to have a wrist band no cool not funny so if you wanna waste your money you can

Yelp
If you live in the Portland area then oaks park is a must. Hands down the greatest little gem that that makes Portland Portland Portland... I mean you get the tiny little Portland vibe that you've come to love.. The food the games the rides just micro. I mean it is so Portland the way that Portland is the world's littlest big city.. This is the littlest bit'll lift big amusement park. Granted this is a great spot for younger children and having younger children we make sure to come a few times every year with good weather Not to mention one of the few roller rings still around now that Gresham closed down.. We always have A-blast here the Mini arcade the little fair games album his little fair games elephant ears and of course the rides. I know as an adult fearing spinny rides I spend all of my time and go carts and bumper carts with the kids... Keep a look out for risk band days they often do buy 1 get 1 and anybody under 48" will receive the half price risk band compared to an adult. It's impossible not to have A-blast here.

Yelp
Local person here, I absolutely support this place 100% because supporting local businesses is a MUST! When I went, yes a lot of younger people than I working everything. Which is cool and all but it would have been nice if they acted like they enjoyed their job, I understand being burnt out and tired from working I do - but come on. Didn't feel too welcoming from younger staff. It was a lot of awkward interactions. Also boo hoo to the ones who want to complain about paying for parking - wow 3$. Rose city festival is 20-30$ parking. I definitely felt like my time and money was well spent here, definitely a hidden gem for amusement park in Portland. It's in a good neighborhood, very huge area for the park separated from rest of the city. It was nice! My son is only 2 and had the time of his life! Highly recommend, be a kid again and enjoy your time there if you go. I was not disappointed revisiting after so long!

Yelp
Nice small park with 2 really great rides. Serves beer and wine. No long wait at the rides. Go on a weekday and you'll have fun!

Yelp
I went to the roller rink a few nights ago and the first thing you notice when you walk in is the absolutely disgusting smell. Wow. I couldn't believe everyone was just okay with that smell. It smelled like a used bathroom and sweaty feet. I had already paid for my ticket online and they don't allow I refunds so I decide to stay but I never ever got used to the smell. The roller rink it self is fine. Everyone was having fun the workers are always looking out for the kids that fall to make sure no one hits them by accident. They do advanced skaters only songs so those people have a chance to go fast without worrying about hitting or getting bumped into by others. They also do couples only songs sometimes. This place would be so much better if they were able to get rid of that smell that's probably in the old carpet they have everywhere. Hopefully they do something about that.

Yelp
Ride are nice and vary from chill to insane! The $49 price though is a bit expensive imo... no senior discounts sucks... at least the carousel and train are free

Yelp
I've only been here for the rollerskating rink and a wedding, but I love this place! The roller rink is a bit dated, but pure nostalgia! Super fun and a cheap good time. The wedding I attended was beautiful. In fact, I almost had my own wedding there! It's a nice, open, and relatively affordable wedding venue. If you have kids, I'm sure they'd love the amusement park, too. It's right on the river, parking is free, there's no fee to get in (you pay per ride or for a day pass if you want to go on the rides), and you can even have a picnic with your (leashed) dog right there on the grounds! What's not to love?
google avatar

Tien D.

Yelp
I haven't been back to Oaks Park in over a decade until this summer. I can't recall any major differences compared to how it was when I last visited. The number of rides is still pretty small. They do have a handful of kiddie rides available if you have young kids and about two rides really scary rides that will place you upside down. There are picnic areas that you can reserve. If you don't have reservations but want to bring a lunch they also have picnic tables around the perimeter of the park where the train rides around. Staff are pretty friendly at most of the rides
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
You know you have become parents in the truest sense of the word when you start planning your vacation activities around your children instead of just dragging then to wherever you want to go. With that in mind, the 'preschool mornings' at Oaks amusement are probably the best bang for the buck you will get for kiddie entertainment and a guilt free fine dining reservation later in the day. For $10 on Tuesday and Wednesday, the amusement park is open for preschoolers from 10 to noon with a variety of rides for the little ones. Adults even ride free with the kids when it's not a kid-only ride. Roughly 10 or so rides are open including the carousel and train (which apparently are always free) and our cautious little lady even enjoyed a handful of them. 3 carousel rides, one train and a bunch of other rides later, we had a tuckered out 2.5 year old who fell asleep before 1pm. Major win in our books.

Yelp
(This is my 9 year old writing this...) I wanted to celebrate my birthday with my friend and oaks park was not open until 6:00 pm. That is too late for me to bring friends and I was very disappointed. I HATE OAKS PARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Do not support this business. It's not worth the money. The parking situation is awful. I've been stuck in the lot for almost 3 hours, trying to get out. Yet, they are still allowing people IN! I asked an employee what they're doing about the situation and he said "nothing. Blame the city or Portland." This is after a bad experience at the park. The park is filthy. Employees are lazy and have lots of attitude. The roller rink was NOT family friendly by any means. People are fighting in the lot because they've been stuck for hours. Yet, no security and my kiddos are witnessing. I asked if they could bring security to the back of the lot and the man responded "no. They're in the front at the gates letting people in."

Yelp
Great place for children, especially for families with toddlers! Summer special dates for preschoolers is well worth it! Purchase your tickets early for these days as they sell out!

Yelp
It's a unique small Amusement Park that has something for every member of the family! Don't take my word for it come on down!

Yelp
I can't believe such a gem exists in a large city. Oaks Amusement park is a must to add to any family's activity repertoire. There are plenty of rides for kids and adults, preschool and up. I take my son here for rides during the summer and, in the winter, we go to the roller skating rink for rainy day fun. The prices are reasonable, especially if you look for discount codes or come for special events, such as the co-op preschool marketing fair in the spring. They also have mini golf, which we haven't tried yet, but want to. We've come for company picnics and they even do birthday parties, with discounted ride bracelets. There is a cute train that goes around the perimeter and the squirrel mascot comes out for kids and they love that. The train and merry-go-round are free and you dont need tickets for those! I highly recommend this park. Bonus: and it's also next to the sellwood riverfront park, where you can picnic and bring your dog.

Yelp
Went here for some roller skating and it turned out to be really fun. The place is busy, has retro vibes and a fun pipe organ that is played occasionally. I was impressed with the amount of people here and how well others could skate! It was super fun to watch and join in. However my one observation/comment is the amount of rules they have. I get it however it was every couple minutes they would stop the music to announce yet another rule. And the teenagers working there took their jobs really seriously which is great however it was yet again really distracting to that they kept stopping people to tell another rule and redirect traffic. Most people can figure out someone has fallen and skate around them so the blocking off of the whole area was a bit much. It was fun however I don't think I'll go back as it took away from the fun but how many times they announced the rules and had new ones.

Yelp
Way too hectic. I don't understand why the need for such crowds. I'd be willing to pay double to cut the crowd in half but of course they won't do that. I can't go back until it's less stressful. Not sure why they like it to be so chaotic.

Yelp
I've been skating here for about a decade and it's a bummer how things have changed in the covid era. Staff seem burned out and more focused on enforcing arbitrary rules than creating an atmosphere of fun. They charge for parking now in addition to the higher ticket prices, even though the park is not accessible by public transit. They allow so many people in the rink that you wait 20 minutes just to get in then spend most of the night navigating the tight crowd instead of enjoying skating. It's a shame it's the only rink in town.

Yelp
If you're looking for a super fun spot to hang out with your family or friends, then you gotta check out Oaks Amusement Park! They've got all sorts of cool rides that'll get your heart pumping, from speedy coasters to chill Ferris wheel rides. My family had such a great day and I look forward to coming back in the future.

Yelp
I have brought my family here for years ,sadly over the years price has gone from $10.00 a bracelet to now $50.00 per adult adds up to a $300.00 outing when treating the entire family and no tickets so if you want to only go on one or two rides you have to get the bracelet but much of the park has stayed the same, same rides maybe a few new ones is all , on our last visit there was a security guard/ ground cleaner that kept following us and glaring at us and we were not doing anything wrong. Would have been more fun without that guy they hired to intimidate people that are just trying to have a good time.

Yelp
Worst haunted house you will ever go to. It's a wast of money it takes about 15 minutes to do all 3 of them. While your in the line all you hear is other people talk about how bad it is.

Yelp
My grade school kids stayed here for 5 hours on a Saturday while it rained! The $49 all you can ride bracelet was worth it. There were 2 thrill rides that would probably cost $10-15 per ride elsewhere. There were nostalgic rides like Tilt a Whirl and the Octopus. There were over a dozen kiddie rides. The train and historic merry go round were complimentary. The big slide was closed during the rainstorm. They weren't even interested in the arcade. We will be back when it's not so wet. I just wish the bathrooms were better kept. During the rain, anyone could have easily slipped and fallen. Also being Oregon, there could be more shelter from the rain.

Yelp
We went to oaks park for our boys 6th birthday. Overall it was fun! He was a little short for a few rides like the rock n roll and the adrenaline which was fine there was plenty other rides for him to get on. The ride operators were interesting to say the least. One girl really had a sour attitude and very little patience. They were having a Veterans celebration day which was neat so there was live music and some tents set up. Total we spent about 4 hours at the park. Everyone had fun and now the older boy wants to return for his birthday!

Yelp
This is a really fun place. We've been here a number of times for different purposes. Once to ride the rides, once for a festival, another time for the Multnomah County Fair, and yet another few times to go to the roller rink. The rink is awesome - super vintage yet well maintained, with good pricing and lots of specialty days for adults and kids. We'll be back!

Yelp
We came to Oaks park for some roller skating and it was a blast! They have a great retro vibe, lots of people skating and a fun pipe organ that is played sometimes. It is definitely busy here on the weekends. My one observation/complaint is they have so many rules. Not necessarily a bad thing but it was pretty annoying when every couple minutes the music was stopped to announce another rule. The teenagers working there were skating around enforcing every rule which again is fine but a little distracting at how constant they were redirecting traffic on the floor due to someone falling. Honestly people can see others on the ground and skate around them accordingly but the constant telling everyone what to do and pointing took away from some of the fun. I probably won't be back as it felt more stressful than fun but I can see why others enjoy it here.

Yelp
Really the only place to go for roller skating around Portland. I have been 3 times and each time the customer service gets worse. You can't understand anything the DJ says when he makes people get off the floor every 4 or 5 songs. It really disrupts the flow. He also won't take requests but says he will try so you won't ask again. The songs he plays are awful as well. The people who are on the floor managing skaters have their priorities backwards in my opinion. They weren't picking debris off the skate floor but making sure to micromanage the fun of skaters. For example, I was off to the very edge wall using that to help me go backwards...NOPE! You must skate inside the very center if you want to go backwards. No where else. I won't be going back anymore

Yelp
FIFTY DOLLARS per person. If you didn't know it was only $20 for unlimited rides just a few years ago. It's not like the rides have been renovated recently either. I can't see any reason for DOUBLING the price in less than 5 years. On top of that you now have to pay for parking as well. I used to come here all the time as a kid so I was really really excited to go. We couldn't justify spending 100 dollars for a few hours of rides. My whole day was ruined.
