The Best Restaurants & Bars In Big Bear

"There are plenty of restaurants in Big Bear built to look like log cabins, and Oakside is the fanciest of them all. This string-lit two-story restaurant on the edge of the Village wouldn't be out of place in Aspen, and it's your best bet in town for a slightly upscale meal. The menu features crowd-pleasing stuff like burgers, truffle fries, salads, and pasta, but we like coming here for a steak and a cocktail. The wait for a table can be very long at dinnertime, but here's the secret: just head upstairs, where there's lots of open seating and they serve the full menu until close." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox

Really nice location. We ate outside and it was great. The food is elevated. My prickly pear margarita was on point. Draft beers were cold. Fish and chips was light and crispy. Mac and cheese is adult Mac and cheese. Kids expected Kraft. The adults gladly ate it for them. The bar upstairs is filled with TVs and little nooks you can hide out in with a date. Can't wait to come back for steak and lobster for dinner.

My wife selected this restaurant. So we went up to the second floor where Jennifer greeted us with such grace. We felt comfortable and were treated exceptionally. The food was the iceing on the cake. Highly recommend. Edgar brought our food and ask if we needed anything else with such care.

One of the best salmon I've ever had! Very surprised but very happy I gave it a shot. The vegetables were perfectly seasonsed and cooked as well. We went as a group over July 4th weekend and we were able to get seating outside pretty quickly.

Google
A decent restaurant in downtown big bear.. service was great and both servers were very kind and hospitable. Burger was pretty solid but i love burgers regardless.. their lobster pizza was not worth the price. Less of a lobster taste but more cheesy taste. Felt like we were eating like a cheesy bread from soup plantation.

Google
Great restaurant in the heart of Big Bear Village. Lots of parking in the back. Main dining room, patio dining and upstairs lounge. I had the Oakside burger and it was wonderful. Great menu. Awesome cocktails and friendly service. I would highly recommend this establishment to others.

Google
Really amazing restaurant in Big Bear. Lovely atmosphere, great patio seating. I had the French dip and French Onion Soup which were both way beyond my expectations. Bothe were done perfectly.

Has a cozy, rustic feel with warm wood interiors and comfy seating. Gives relaxed but a bit lively vibes. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food and drinks felt fresh and well made. Great spot to hang out, eat well, and enjoy good company.

Very friendly service and super fast. No wait when we arrived. Food came out quick. Portions are very nice for price paid. Enjoyed everything we ordered. Highly recommend

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING! We had the Truffle Grilled Cheese and Strawberry, Avocado Salad. Both plates were delicious. Also, our waitress was attentive and her table side manners were great.

Yelp
This place is probably one of the most popular and busiest restaurants in Big Bear. Wait times can be two hours, but typically like 45 minutes each time we've gone. We've only sat outside each time because we had our dogs with us each time. Food is always pretty good, in the past we've ordered the three street tacos (shredded chicken, onions, cilantro and a tasty green salsa, I get a side of avo), hubs has gotten the kale apple salad with grilled chicken, a burger, the French dip, and calamari. We've gotten roasted Brussels sprouts and potato skins once, too. Everything was well prepared and consistent. Beautiful patio, inside has an Alpine chalet sort of vibe, with outside seating on second story overlooking the street and passersby's. Service is always super friendly.

Yelp
Had our first sub-par experience here this evening. Would give it 4 stars based on our past visits but this one was pretty disappointing. Today I ordered the Santa Fe chicken sandwich. Sandwich was messy as it had too much dressing. About 1/3 way thru the sandwich the bottom bun became so soggy that I couldn't hold it and ended up eating most of the remainder with a fork and knife. It was a soggy mess!. Left probably 1/3 of the bun on the plate. I mentioned this to the waiter who came back to tell me that the kitchen was made aware of the problem and it apparently mistakenly had dressing on both buns. I appreciated his follow up but thought that maybe they would have at least taken something off of the bill. It wasn't why I informed him of the sub-par sandwich but it would have been a nice gesture and an indication that ownership cares about keeping their customers happy and coming back. We've visited this place probably 10 times in the last 4 years. We'll be back again sometime but maybe will look for other options as well.

Yelp
2 out of 5 - Would discourage my group from going. -Overcooked Brussels -Bland veggies. -Chicken was good. -Poor cut of beef for rib eye. -Service was friendly but not attentive and prioritized his closing duties. -Other servers saw we were done for a long time and did not offer assistance. -Green beans were good but heavily battered and fried -Soup was okay

Yelp
Oakside is located in The Village and features American style fare in a two story plus large space. We dined in a couple weeks ago and had a nice time here. It's a big restaurant featuring indoor and outdoor seating of all kinds - a front patio, indoor seating with some booths, up stairs dinging/lounge and bar with many TVs, and an outdoor patio. It was a Friday evening and the place had a nice buzz. The front patio was busy and we decided to check out the upstairs area which has a lot of space. Oakside reminds of me a BJs (they even have a dessert called the Oakie Dough which is basically a Pizookie) with it's wide American style food menu with various small bites/appetizers (sliders, wings, shrimp cocktail etc), soups and salads, pizzas/flatbreads, burgers/sandwiches pastas and various other entrees. Their drink options are equally great with various beers, wines, cocktails and liquors alike, non alcoholic drinks and more. My friend and I dined upstairs in the bar section at a tabletop and enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. James was our main server whom provided great service, was friendly and cool. Other staff were great as well and helped out. Loaded Potato Skins - Topped with cheddar and mozzarella cheese, green onion, sour cream and applewood smoked bacon. These were done very well and it was a good portion. Wagyu Steak Burger - Half pound patty with caramelized onion, iceberg lettuce, tomato, house burger sauce, brioche bun. Friend enjoyed this burger with fries. Caribbean Jerk Spiced Filet of Alaskan Salmon - Lemon dill Dijon cream sauce. I was told this was a popular item and it did not disappoint. The fish is farmed raised however but was cooked/spiced well. Served with choices of two sides. I went with the gold mashed potatoes and mac & cheese and both were very good. Oakie Dough - Freshly baked to order chocolate chip cookie topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream Enjoyed beers, some cocktails and even some coffees and we were stuffed. There is a public parking lot with an entrance right next to the business. Prices were fine and reasonable for the type of establishment and area.

Yelp
This was a great first stop for us in Big Bear. It's a big restaurant that seems to be a popular place in the village. The ambience was lovely. Perfect to grab food or drinks with anyone. We arrived around 7 on Friday right when the sun was getting ready to set with no reservation and the wait for outside seats was maybe 10 minutes. The menu was extensive. Medium well skirt steak was perfect to me but wife thought it was just good. Chicken wings had a great texture and cooked nice and juicy but I guess they could have used a bit more flavor but still pretty good. Truffle fries were very truffly. Not the best mashed potatoes or Brussels sprouts I've had, they were alright just mild in the flavor department. The lemon drop was one of the stars of the show. Highly recommend that. Tasty and strong. Just rather have raspberry lemon drop too. Might have to have that next time! Service was pretty friendly but could have been faster. I think the servers were doing their best but might have been slightly understaffed.

Yelp
Starting with the good: Food is delicious! I ordered the Impossible Burger with sweet potato fries. Also tried the calamari - that was ok. Upon arrival they said there was a wait time of 30min and we provided our phone number to get a text. After 40+ min we went to them and asked how much longer. They seemed to have tables and gave us one. Just not sure why it took long and no text was sent. :/ We decided to try to speed up the food delivery by ordering right away but the waiter was pretty quick to leave us. We did sit inside, and it was so noisy! Not sure if that's normal, but I would sit outside to avoid that. It felt like I was in a raging bar. Maybe they caught our energy cause they offered dessert and our last order on the house. Very sweet of them. Still took a really long time. A good 2.5hrs total of this whole process. :/

Yelp
Like I mentioned in the previous review, this place never disappoints. I think I'm on a mission to try 90% of the menu....and I'm almost there

Yelp
The restaurant is located in The Village so there is plenty of free parking nearby. We stopped by on a Thursday afternoon with 8 other guests and they provided us with two tables which worked perfectly and had a space for us. We were seated within 5 minutes. They have high chairs available for the little ones. They have a kids menu consisting of spaghetti , chicken tenders with fries and one more item. They have options ranging from pasta, burgers, flat bread, fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots and much more. Everyone enjoyed the food and the server was amazing!! She was attentive, refilled our water and soda drinks, and even brought out the kids meals first.

Yelp
Located merely a three-minute walk from the timeshare, we were thoroughly impressed with the establishment's cuisine, atmosphere, and service. During our initial visit, we arrived thirty minutes prior to closing time and inquired about the possibility of being accommodated, expressing our reluctance to inconvenience the staff. The staff graciously insisted that we enter and not rush, demonstrating exceptional service. We returned the following day, opting to dine upstairs, and once again enjoyed a superb experience. We highly recommend this establishment.

Yelp
Dined in 5pm May 24 2025. We had been wanting to try this place out and for the first impression we were impressed as my bf stated. The selections on the menu were quite from $14-60+ depending on what kind of food you like, they have steak, chicken, seafood, the typical salmon. Let's go on with this, we ordered the appetizers of bone out parmesan garlic wings, more like little nuggets not strips of chicken, it was on the lemon tasting like with wet mix in light gravy on top is how I describe it. Was not too garlic like and not heavily with parmesan shreds on top. But it was very delicious, slight crispy. Then we also ordered the tater tots of pulled pork on top, comes with pickles, slaw and green onions, but the dish was not hot, too much sweet BBQ for a pulled pork, so if you like sweet BBQ this is it. Slaw and pickles on the side makes a separate twist verses mixing it in. Second time dining in, next night we decided on May 25th for dinner once again. And this time my boyfriend tried the chicken Alfredo flat bread and it was not as not, he then ask the server to heat up and must admit the service is very nice too. We had the same server the day before and she was very patient with our questions which helped make decisions for ordering. I then, ordered the crusted chicken with capers along with the Brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese for sides. OMG i was now in heaven because ruby far the best not hard nor burnt brussel sprouts, it was super YUMMY. A must try on that dish tho the chicken breast needed tlc perhaps a little sauce they use for the chicken wings of garlic parmesan would have made it even better. The Mac and cheese was just right, not too cheesy stringy but not al dente shells, bit on the soft side. I was not impressed with my bf order of flat bread but at least he enjoyed his meal. Now the parking is not enough here but I love free parking and no valet needed. But I recommend coming here early for dinner because you end up parking outside of their lot. Also, trick is go to second floor because there is enough space upstairs to get seated right away, it's next to the bar and what I also like is the music, the vibe & music not loud that you can't hear your partner, family and friends. Bathrooms are tidy! Hope this helps you decide to try Oakside. We definitely are coming back to try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
Visited for lunch on a Thursday, no wait for bar seating upstairs (18+). Jennifer the bartender helped us out really quickly & had great recommendations. We got the cowboy bites for an app & it tasted amazing & super crunchy fresh. For mains my bf got the chicken cordon bleu & I got angel hair pasta with brown butter sauce. Everything came out delicious, we'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Always a treat, always. Can't say enough good things - atmosphere is sophisticated yet lively. You feel like you can enjoy BOTH a family dinner after a long hike without looking out of place AND a bombastic dinner with friends laden with salt, fat, and cold beer. The theme is a dark woody-rustic which matches the cabin feel of the community perfectly. Comfortable bench seating and charming bar full of laughter and polished patrons. The servers were fast and the menus were extensive without tipping into too many options. We ordered a mojito, a Moscow mule, the vegan teriyaki chicken bowl, and two impossible burgers. The drinks were stellar - both in taste and value proposition (as they were not 75% ice like you find at other establishments). The teriyaki chicken bowl (pictured) served as a fantastic appetizer to share, and its vegan chicken was very tasty with a strong umami flavor. The Impossible Burgers floored us with their peppery flavor and pillowy buns. Savory barbecue sauce and a dinner plate full of French fries had us beaming ear to ear. If I had any more room in my stomach, I would have ordered another without a single reservation. Finally, the waitress was a doll and checked in on us several times throughout the meal. The check came out quickly with the good ole fashioned courtesy line of "take your time, no rush" which we were tempted to take her up on due in part to the lively setting. Cannot wait to dine here again!

Yelp
Opened up this spot in Yelp and knew we had to come in based off of the photos and reviews. We ended up going to sit and enjoy upstairs because the wait downstairs was a little longer than we were wanting but upstairs seemed to be a fun lively area. We got a small table by the bar to enjoy an app and some drinks. We loved how it was a wood cabin feel since there definitely are not places like that close to home. I would definitely come back here again for a meal because the menu looked amazing!

Yelp
We stopped by for a late lunch while visiting Big Bear Lake. I had the chicken mushroom ravioli--it was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious! I was with a group, so I don't remember everyone's exact orders, but there were burgers and steaks that got good feedback all around. The service was decent overall. However, we accidentally left our takeout boxes behind and returned about 15 minutes later to retrieve them. Unfortunately, we were made to wait quite a while, only to be told they had already been thrown out during cleanup.

Yelp
Really enjoyed having dinner here! They offer generous portions and delicious food. Our favorite were the cowboy bites and the wagyu steak burger. I personally felt that the truffle grilled cheese was a bit heavy on the truffle smell, but still felt it was a delicious sandwich! Service was kind and helpful, and they offered us different seating options (outside versus inside versus upstairs) to cater to the ambiance we wanted for the evening.

Yelp
My family and I were visiting the Big Bear area when we came across Oakside. The restaurant does not take reservations and is open on a first-come, first-serve basis. We went on a Saturday evening, which we expected to be busy. We waited for about 25 minutes. Once seated, we waited about 15 minutes for our server to take our order. She was apologetic for the wait, but I was understanding that it was a busy time. Indoor and outdoor dining is available. Casual dining (first floor) and Upper Bar (2nd floor): the bar does not serve food; it's only for drinks. We started with a Roasted Brussels sprouts Appetizer and the day's soup: corn and bacon chowder soup. OMG, this soup was amazing! We also ordered the chopped American Wagyu steak burger. It was my first time eating a Wagyu steak burger, which was so satisfying! 10/10. Our kids ordered the chicken strips and cheeseburger with fries. Both kiddos were happy and loved the fries. Overall- great place and fantastic food. The service was slow, but it was a hectic time, so I always try my best to keep that in mind.
google avatar

Karissa C.

Yelp
I would rate this a 4.5/5. The only thing I would dock off is the service being a bit slow since this place is super busy. The wait is a bit long. We came here around 1:15 and waited about 30 mins to get seated. We took our order pretty quickly. The food came out in about 10-15mins. All of the food was good. The Santa Fe Sandwich had a bit of a kick with the onion and pepper and was bursting with flavor. The Ahi tuna burger was super tender. Both the wagyu and the Oakside burger were cooked to perfection. The side of fries was well done as well and came out fresh and crispy. When leaving around 2:40pm the entire lobby was packed with people still waiting to eat here and get seated.

Yelp
This place was especially excellent, thanks due mostly to our amazing server Matthew! He was great and made the dining experience that much more perfect! We were a party of 7 celebrating a birthday and he went above and beyond making our dining experience a hit! The wait was an hour without reservations. We walked around to the nearby shops while we waited. They text us when our table was ready and once inside it was a smooth dining experience! Gorgeous decor inside and out. I did not get a chance to check out the upstairs bar but I heard many great things. Next time we will come without kids and check it out. Dog friendly. Food was delicious! Make reservations and Stop in today!

Yelp
I ordered The Jamaican Mule, which consisted of Rum, Ginger Beer, and lime juice with a lime wedge. Superb! Really hit the spot on such a warm day in the patio. It's a great spot for families or grabbing brunch with friends. Service was impeccable as well.
google avatar

Allie T.

Yelp
While the service wasn't as fast as it could be, the actual restaurant itself was cozy and welcoming. The host at the front was super sweet and although we waited a long time to meet our server, once we did they were very fast. The drinks were really good and the food lived up to the reviews and photos. I'd definitely recommend checking them out.

Yelp
The restaurant it self is so beautiful inside and out . The waiter we had is really nice and professional Thank you Michael!!! The appetizer we ordered was the boneless chicken habanero flavor was great but the chicken was mostly bread had them change it for the meat loaf sliders. which came at the same time as the food so we side y get chance to eat. The reason for 4 stars is because the stag out front did not have it together had to go back and forth to figure out where to get seated. Almost left and also because of the drinks out of the drink my husband wanted and my soda was flat 1.blackened salmon with jasmine rice and broccoli 5 Stars 2. Skirt Steak with mashed potato's and corn 5 Stars 3.Cappelini Pomodoro pasta with salmon in stead of chicken 5 stars the flavor was amazing Just sad that we had to pay for the appetizer that we did not get to try so we had to take to go hopefully it will be good warmed up tomorrow

Yelp
Great service, incredible food. Came here after my spartan race because they had an extensive menu and plenty of meat-free options. Was plenty busy, downstairs which is more fancy had a wait but upstairs is a more fancy-casual sports bar. The bruschetta was really tasty, loved the pesto and that it was served with melted motz. Also ordered the Korean meat free stir fry, it hit the spot and had an abundance of fresh vegetables that were slightly al dente just the way I like it. Husband ordered one of their fine meats, I think prime rib which he said was tender and cooked perfectly. Overall great experience, in a busy space.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is always crowded during the weekends and rightfully so. I really enjoyed their French onion soup, tatter tots, burger and sweet potato fries. They also come in huge portions. Service was great. My group of friends, due to traffic coming into Big Bear, all came at different times. However, our waitress was very accommodating, friendly and efficient despite how busy the night was. Of note, their second floor is first come first serve and the tables turnover relatively quickly so there seldom is a long wait. First floor is where you get seated by a host for a more formal dining experience. I'd definitely be back when I visit Big Bear again. Thanks for the wonderful dinning experience!

Yelp
I'm really sad to write this because we've been coming here since they first opened, and it used to be one of our favorite spots. But things have seriously gone downhill. The steak was completely undercooked and had a strange, off-putting seasoning. When we asked the manager to have it put back on the grill, it still came back undercooked. At that point, it was clear the kitchen just didn't care. The sides didn't help either. The "baked" potato was actually just boiled, and the Brussels sprouts were bland. Definitely not what you'd expect from a place that used to have great food. The drinks were just okay--nothing like they used to be. The drink was strong, but the presentation was sloppy and the bar was sticky. For two people with two drinks, the bill came to over $120. That might have been fine back when the food and service were worth it, but now? Absolutely not. We've been loyal customers for years, but I won't be coming back--and I can't recommend this place to anyone anymore.

Yelp
Stopped by to have a drink at our favorite place in Big Bear, Oakside while we waited to check into our Air BnB! It was pretty chilly out but we had dogs with us so found a spot on the patio. Thankfully they always have a fire burning. We had mentioned that we were in town celebrating a birthday and the waitress brought out not one but two birthday surprise desserts for the whole table! It was such a sweet way to start our trip!
google avatar

Lucas P.

Yelp
Fantastic service, outstanding food, and very dog friendly. Perhaps the best chicken salad sandwich I've had. A win all around!
google avatar

Alicia G.

Yelp
We stopped by for lunch and left feeling slightly disappointed. I started with the Oaksour which was delicious and have no complaints about. I went with the French onion soup next and that is when it went downhill. I am a major fan of French onion soup, however this soup turned me off for a while. It was so so sweet. I think the cooks accidentally used sweet onions. If it was intentional then they should change the recipe because it was very off putting. I asked the waitress if it was normally sweet and she only responded with "I have no idea". I didn't finish the soup. As the main course I ordered the beef tornado, which was wonderful. It's perfect if you like to share too! Overall a nice spot, very cozy if you're getting out of the cold, but skip the soup for sure.

Yelp
We visited Oakside when on a trip to Big Bear this week and we loved it! Even though it was pretty warm outside we opted to sit out on the patio and the staff kindly adjusted an umbrella to make sure we were in the shade. The patio was beautiful with a garden full of a colorful variety of flowers. We were quickly greeted by our waiter who took our drink and appetizer orders. We tried the bruschetta and the pulled pork sliders. The bruschetta was delicious- the bread was perfectly toasted with seasoned tomato and delicious melted mozzarella. I only tried a bite of the pulled pork sliders but they were delicious with a sweet and savory bbq sauce. For our entrees my husband got the butcher block pizza and I got the skirt steak with a side of mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. WOW I loved my meal. The seasoning and marinade on the skirt steak was delicious and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I ever had. The Mac and cheese was really good too but let me tell you- the potatoes really stole the side show. As delicious as the meal was, our waiter really ensured we had a great experience. He was attentive and friendly and made sure we had everything we needed If ever in the Big Bear area again we will definitely be back to Oakside!
google avatar

Delayna J.

Yelp
This cozy restaurant was beautiful! The multi levels were nice, bar is on the 2nd floor with a lounge seating area, and even bar stools outside so you can overlook the shopping center & people watch. The food was shockingly delicious!! Almost a high end steak house vibe, with great options like salmon and surf and turf plates. I would definitely be back for their food and lovely outdoor seating!
google avatar

Brenda R.

Yelp
Pulled pork sandwich and oak side burgers both without much flavor. Sweet potato fries were ok. Wings were fine. Probably wouldn't come back here due to poor flavors and sauces that are probably all store bought and taste artificial/sugary. Waiter was nice though.
google avatar

Lisa G.

Yelp
Hmmm..been here many times before, but this time just a little underwhelming..we chose to sit outside and wish we had not, for the fly problem was a bit much..I guess I thought the elevation would be high enough that this would not be a problem, but alas..it was. Ordered a couple of beers, the butcher shop pizza and the oakside sliders with turkey meatloaf. Hub has had the sliders before, but the pizza was a new try. Sliders had a nice spice to them and were quite good, however the pizza was a serious miss...I can tell the ingredients were good, but that combination of flavors just didn't do it for us..sadly we just powered through it. There should be a build your own option, but the sauce I think was just not working for any pizza I would try..just stay away from that item. I guess I expect more from California restaurants..as they usually do not mess it up..

Yelp
They have a bar floor upstairs that I'm dying to drink in but we were there as a family when I went so will have to save that for another time. I would have wanted to take a nap when I walked in it was giving such cozy comfortable vibes, which is probably why they had the A/C on despite it being 30 degrees outside Food was delicious and service was pleasant. Not gonna lie our waiter seemed a little spacey at first but did a great job. He recommended the salmon that we were hesitant to get because it was "carribean jerk seasoning" and we didn't know what that was. Ended up getting it and it didn't disappoint! We eat family style, so we shared that with veggies and mashed potatoes, a butcher shop pizza, and some fried green beans. It was all delicious and filling for me, my husband, and 10 year old son. Will be back to try the carne asada street tacos, and Brussel sprouts
google avatar

Stephanie A.

Yelp
We tried this place after reading reviews on Yelp and weren't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was! The servers were friendly, the ambiance was okay, the food more than made up for it. We'd definitely stop by again next time we visit Big Bear.
google avatar

Sandra S.

Yelp
Came as a walk-in and waited about 30-45 min before being seated. It was nice they had lounge areas upstairs by the bar where we could wait! Once we got seated, the apps came pretty quick. We got roasted Brussels sprouts and a few others which were all pretty good. But after that, our main entrees took FOREVER to come out. Pretty worth the wait bc the burgers were really good! But the wait was just extremely long
google avatar

Brenna K.

Yelp
I guess April is the month to come! Went for dinner and had no wait upstairs- downstairs still had a wait. Huge cocktail menu and good beer selection. Had a lovely meal!
google avatar

Egita R.

Yelp
The service is nice, ambiance is lovely- but the food is nowhere near the quality of what we extracted. Dry, overcooked meat, and for this price- very very disappointing. Bbq sauce on the ribs was terrible. And the lemon capper sauce did not complement the breaded dry chicken. Very disappointing birthday dinner :( Staff was great though!

Yelp
My family and I were up in Big Bear for vacation and took a stroll through The Village Shops and saw Oakside Restaurant and Bar and were immediately attracted to their nice outdoor patio area. We decided to stop in for a couple of appetizers and drinks, and are very thankful that we did! The menu has a lot of options for small plates and main meals as well along with a great variety of unique cocktails and great beer selection. We started with a beer and some appetizers...the Truffle Fries and Spicy White Cheese Curds. Both were absolutely delicious! There was tons of Truffle and Parmesan flavor on the fries but not too much or overpowering. They came with a tasty Garlic Aioli and a tasty Chipotle Ketchup. The Spicy Cheese Curds were no joke as well and definitely brought the heat! Most restaurants that advertise something spicy usually falls short in my opinion...but I love heat and spice and Oakside's Spicy Cheese Curds did not disappoint! We also ordered a Mac & Cheese for the kids and it was creamy, cheesy and delicious! Overall, Oakside Restaurant and Bar offers a great environment, great service and excellent food. There are so many more items on the menu that I want to try out so you can guarantee that we will be back again next time we are in town. Whether you are looking for some appetizers and drinks, a nice lunch or a full-blown dinner... I highly recommend Oakside Restaurant and Bar!

Yelp
This was my first time in big bear and already my second time eating here at Oakside. The food is absolutely delicious and the service and ambiance is on point! This time in particular our server Terry went out of her way to work with the bartender Jen to whip up this over the top Bloody Mary my boyfriend wanted and they happily accommodated! 10/10!

Yelp
Service was awesome; food was good! We had lobster pizza and house salads. The pink vodka sauce is house-made and a must try!

Yelp
The location is really nice and themed for the area. My wife and I ordered calamari, black and blue burger, and the Mac and cheese tots (server recommendation). The calamari were cooked perfectly but under seasoned (this will be a recurring theme) as was the marinara but the lemon aioli was very good. The burger was cooked to perfection (medium) and the blackened seasoning was very good just needed salt. Now the Mac and cheese tots were just not it for us. Tots were crispy but under salted, Mac and cheese was grainy and under seasoned as well. Overall the food wasn't bad just needed to be tweaked to maximize flavor. The service was very good, our waiter attended to all our requests and drinks stayed filled. I would come back again but try something else.

Service was super friendly and a very cute restaurant specially for the area. I love that they're in a great spot to be able to like walk after enjoying such a good meal.

Yelp
My gf's and I shared a few appetizers and lots of delicious cocktails. The bus boy was extremely rude but our waitress more than made up for it. Ambiance is great, specially the outdoor seating (weather permitting)

Yelp
Catherine is wonderful! She is a skilled server, she knows how to time herself to check in on us perfectly. The vibe of the restaurant is great, reminds my husband and I of the old seafood restaurant we worked at years ago. For an appetizer, we got Bruschetta, yummy! ordered the skirt steak w Brussel sprouts and sweet potato fries, my husband got the ribeye with brussel sprouts and baked potato. I got the blueberry mule. Super yummy! Recommend this as they have a lot of options to eat & drink, but not too much like a 24/7 diner They are also open late for a Tuesday night out here!

Yelp
Loooove kids, but the place has more of a date vibe than a family vibe and there's just way too many kids running around. So the setting didn't fit the people that were actually there. The hostess told us there was a 90 minute. wait, but then got a text stating that our table was ready only 30 minutes later. Food and service were definitely worth the wait. We got tea, brussels sprouts, tacos, and Ahi steak. I highly recommend the brussels sprouts and tacos. The tacos were a little Americanized, but still completely worth it. All the flavor combinations were great. Didn't have a chance to get dessert. Not because I didn't want any, but just because I was so full. Will definitely visit again! Maybe next time with my own gang of kids.

Yelp
Service is friendly and on point. The meals come out hot. Like fresh out of the oven or stovetop. I know they weren't under warming lights because the plates are cool. Portions are HUGE! The patio is pet-friendly and in the shade. The decor is alpine and lovely.
