"There are plenty of restaurants in Big Bear built to look like log cabins, and Oakside is the fanciest of them all. This string-lit two-story restaurant on the edge of the Village wouldn't be out of place in Aspen, and it's your best bet in town for a slightly upscale meal. The menu features crowd-pleasing stuff like burgers, truffle fries, salads, and pasta, but we like coming here for a steak and a cocktail. The wait for a table can be very long at dinnertime, but here's the secret: just head upstairs, where there's lots of open seating and they serve the full menu until close." - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox

One of the few places still open on a Friday night that wasn’t a franchise. The wait for a table in the downstairs seating area was about an hour, but we were lucky to find seats at the bar. We ordered the buffalo-style hot chicken tater tots and the pan-seared jumbo sea scallops. Unfortunately, the tater tots arrived cold, with cheese that hadn’t melted, as if they had been sitting out for a while. They didn’t sit well with me later that night. However, the scallops were delicious! The bartenders were attentive and generous with the wine pours, which made for a nice experience overall.

We decided to give this restaurant a try and we are so glad we did. First, we just loved the outdoor atmosphere of this place with the firepit ablaze on a perfect cool September evening. The restaurant also has plenty of indoor seating and upstairs they have a bar and lounge, which I believe you can also order food from. Our server was Fonz, and he was truly a delight, so friendly, cheerful and made our visit special. The restaurant menu is quite diverse, and we decided to have the house salad along with the chicken marcella with mac & cheese and a sautéed corn dish. The food was excellent with just the right portion size, and the pricing was reasonable. Unfortunately, we were too full to try any of their tempting desserts, but maybe next time. There is plenty of free parking along the side and back of the restaurant with additional parking across the street. If you are visiting for a day or so, we would highly recommend this restaurant.

A really nice experience eating. Food was delicious. Steak was on track for really amazing, but it’s not a 50$ ribeye. I think they could be Better on the prices but god knows what it cost to run a good restaurant these days.

I couldn't think of a thing they could do better. They have a diverse menu, but not so many options that the quality degrades. Staff are so polite and professional! It's usually a bit of a wait, especially on the weekends, but the location makes for a great place to walk around while you wait. Every bite of food was amazing. This is definitely one of the not so hidden gems of Big Bear!

My husband and I were greeted, seated and received our food in a timely manner. Staff was friendly, food was delicious and the environment was delightful. There is patio seating with heaters, indoor dining and a bar upstairs as well. It's our to go to for at least one night during our town visits

My wife and I had a pleasant experience at Oakside for dinner tonight. What made this a great night out for us was truly the service. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and promptly sat. Even though they were busy our waiter arrived shortly after us being seated and made sure we had drinks. Throughout the duration of the night multiple staff including our waiter Eddy checked in on us, refilling our water and making sure we were attended too, but not being too overbearing either. This level of service is uncharacteristic of our experiences dining out in Big Bear so it made for a lovely Friday night date. Our food was as follows: Appetizer : Mango habanero wings, was expecting more spice but they did have good flavor. 6.7/10 Main course: we split the following Truffle Grilled Cheese : for a grilled cheese this has good flavor but for the price I still feel it could have had more to it 7.2 /10 Loaded tots: this is one of their signature dishes and definitely knocked it out. For tots they get a 8.4/10 Black and blue burger: Bun was a bit dry and fell apart fairly easily, should have been toasted (if it was it wasn’t enough) the blue cheese was very rich and a bit over powering. Not my favorite burger, especially for $20+ dollars. 4.8 / 10 Overall great night, will definitely be coming back I’m sure their entrees will tell a different story.
