Oaktown Spice Shop

December 2025 One of the rare places to find Thai lime leaves 🍃 in the surrounding general area. We also found some very interesting products worth trying. As Filipinos we were also pleasantly surprised to see artisinal chocolate 🍫 made with regional cacao beans from our homeland. Very amiable and friendly staff worth engaging with as their knowledge is very informative and helpful. A great place indeed to browse and get some culinary ingredients as well as gifts and souvenirs. A new discovery in Filmore for us. 🥰

while exploring fillmore, oaktown spice shop was a great find, especially when shopping for practical gifts. as someone who doesn’t know too much about spices, there are little guides/descriptors that helped with picking out the spices i wanted. they also had complementary gift boxes if you picked out 2, 4, 8, etc spices!! everything is also very well sorted and the staff members are incredibly kind

What a gem! Knowledgeable staff, they really were able to explain tangibly differences in three peppers and cinnamons, such a thoughtful selection and something for everyone. Such a wonderful place to get a one of a kind gift for the chefs and bakers in your life. Some highlights were apple pie sugar, three (or more) kinds of pepper, lots of cinnamon varieties, vanilla sugar, and coarse garlic. Inspired to cook after visiting, what a fab store!!

So nice to have this store in the neighborhood! It has so many different spices, teas, and vinegars that you can’t easily find. The owner is so nice and passionate about her products.

I was welcomed in and served by a knowledgeable clerk. Got my specialty spice (Szechuan peppercorns) in just a few minutes. Will definitely be back.

Probably the best spice selection I’ve ever seen. Friendly staff and great prices. Could probably easily drop a quick $200-300 on way too much stuff! The goat horn chili is definitely my new fav 🥰

One can go WILD in a specialty spice shop! Oaktown Spice is the best of the best. I'm so excited they now have this shop in the city. They've always been great with online orders (shipping and customer service) but now I can just pop in whenever I need something. If you're looking for a great spice blend or tea blend or random chili variety- check here. Right now they have some amazing gift sets in preparation for the holidays. The staff were super helpful when I couldn't find the refill bag of a spice blend I love (even though everything is in alphabetical order and in categories). They even have bottles for you to smell the spice you're interested in. My main purpose for this trip was for a gift card for a friend, but naturally "needed" some spices for myself. I'm proud to say that my spice cabinet is almost completely full of Oaktown Spices. - I've been obsessed for years!

Oaktown Spice Shop is originally from Oakland, and is new to San Francisco in 2023. I was so happy to see them have this second location on Fillmore, as it is more convenient for me. They have really good quality spices and condiments. The store is lined with hundreds of spice options. I was struggling with getting a gift for someone who has it all, and a new set of heirloom spices (to make their favorite golden milk tea) from Oaktown Spice Shop was a hit! The store gift wrapped it for me, which made it more special. I plan to go back and by myself a few spices soon too.

Love that this store is here on Fillmore St! So many delicious scents right when you enter the door. There's so many different blends of spices that I think just finding different uses for the different blends will take a while. Store is pretty easy to navigate and everything is labeled. There's also specific containers labeled for smelling so you know what the spices will smell like before you purchase. Will definitely come back and try some of the other spice blends (even the salts have like 5+ types).

What a find. Spices which I love and also in gift boxes. Great prices and various sizes. Huge selection. Got a thank you gift just perfect and price just perfect. Nice surprise

I was in the city this past week and needed more tea , spices, and herbs. Oaktown is a guaranteed hit, so I was happy to finally visit the Fillmore location. RIP Castro Valley, you were much closer and a more convenient spot for me, but c'est la vie. The employees were helpful and polite as always and knew where their products were. I loved the space. It was super spacious and open. I'll definitely come back for when I have tea and cooking needs.

The shop is very nice and a welcome addition to Fillmore but I was shocked that they charged me .25 for a tiny brown bag without alerting me after I spent $20. on just two little jars of curry powder. Itmay be a nice store but I think that was way beyond greedy. Not goin' back there any time soon!!

Love Oaktown Spice Shop! Just went in for the first time and I'm obsessed! The place was so well organized and they even had my favorite salsa. I got the salsa & the Lake Merritt BBQ gift box as a birthday gift. I'll be back!
