I finally stopped by Oakwood BBQ after driving past it for years and I’m so glad I did. I got the 2 meat tray with juicy brisket and sliced sausage, plus mac and cheese and burnt end beans. Everything was incredible. The brisket was tender and flavorful, the mac and cheese was creamy and paired perfectly with the meat, and the beans were packed with flavor. The service? 10/10 The patio is spacious and has live music, games like corn hole and darts, and even misters to help with the Texas heat. There is plenty of room for everyone and a great selection of sauces too. I am already planning my next visit for the ribs. Highly recommend stopping by.

Google
Wonderful experience, top notch customer service and excellent bbq. We ordered the family meal deal with 1 pound of brisket and 1 pound of sausage with potato salad and coleslaw. It came with pickles, onions and bread. Great location near the 35 highway with a beautiful beer garden. We played corn hole and connect 4.

The food hit the spot. BBQ was delicious! The meat fell right of the bone with ribs. The brisket and sausage were tasty also. Drink were bomb dot com. The live music was super chill. Customer service was 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯. I'm definitely going back soon for brunch again. Oh, and dog friendly means everything! 💯💯

First time trying food from here and it wont be my last. I ordered the following - Pit Burger: This is a nice burger, I really enjoyed it. It is cooked perfectly and has a subtle smoke flavor and thick but not to thick. The bread is soft and fresh. The house made pickles and pickled onions compliment the meat very well. French Fries: Nothing to write home about, your basic french fries. Burnt End Beans: Not what I expected. Most burnt end beans I have had from BBQ places, they are smoky tasting but these are on the sweet side, not smoky flavored at all. They are OK, just not what I was expecting to get - but definitely not bad, just different. BBQ Sauce: I am generally not a fan of this stuff, but I would get this again from here for sure. I did not use it on my delicious hamburger though but used it for my fries. All in all, I really enjoyed my lunch I ordered through Lunch Drop. I would like to go to the restaurant next and try some more of the menu items for sure.

Google
We had the moist brisket that was good. Pulled pork was dry but the spicy bbq sauce helped. Mac and cheese was lightly peppered and yum. We had the three meats plate. There was no ice in the soda machine but we didn’t ask for any as well.

Google
We ordered through door dash, so maybe they purposely gave us the bad batches. Brisket tasted like water with crust on the outside. Mac and cheese tasted curdled and grainy. Banana pudding had no flavor of banana and was the texture of melted ice cream shake. The “pickles” tastes very sour like they had sat out all day. The green beans and sausage were good. No BBQ sauce given.

Google
A great place for BBQ. The food is delicious and the portion was plenty. Great staff and a clean place. Plenty of back patio seating as well.

Google
I had my company Christmas party here last night. I've never been here before. It was amazing! The food was delicious. Service- top notch. The outdoor area was beautiful. Well done, Oakwood! I might end up being a regular lol.

Yelp
Great hole-in-wall feel with plenty of backyard space and activities for adults and kids. They had darts, cornhole (bean bag toss), two huge Connect 4 games and big block Janga. Lots of Oak trees on the backyard for decent shade. My favorite sandwich is the Herd (chopped brisket, pulled pork and sausage). The turkey was a big hit with the family and our friends. So good we ate it all.

Yelp
So this was a new try for a friend and I. Had a craving for bbq and this was her choice. The place seems like a cool hangout since they have a back area with a stage. There was a live guitarist when we arrived. The guy at the front helped us order since it was our first time. They did have crawfish but wasn't too interested. There wasn't much choice of drinks even though it said beer garden. Theres 3-4 basic choices, nothing great. Which is how we ended up with the sangriamosa. The bbq itself wasn't great. Not much flavor on the brisket and definitely needed the sauce. The sliced sausage was probably the best thing on the plate. The potato salad tasted store bought. Not great. The beans were good. Thankfully it was a nice day out and sitting out back was nice. I doubt I'd go back and try anything else here. Sorry guys.

Yelp
Now that I've been to Oakwood BBQ multiple times, I feel good about leaving my feedback. Oakwood BBQ shines w/ their casual, laidback, family friendly atmosphere. They have an outdoor stage setup in the back w/ picnic tables shaded under huge oak trees that give relief from the Texas heat & a few yard games setup for customers to enjoy. If my review was only about atmosphere & ambience, then Oakwood BBQ would get 4+ stars easily.. however, this review is also about customer service and the food...both of which knock a few stars off from this review. Customer Service Feedback: My family & I have attended 2 of Oakwood BBQ's advertised events - Crawfish, Blues, & Beers held on Easter Sunday (03/31/2024) & the Mother's Day brunch (05/12/2024) and while the online FB advertising is great & really gets you excited beforehand about going to Oakwood's event w/ the promise of a "free"mimosa or moms eating free w/ each entree that is purchased..it's very disappointing to get to Oakwood & these promotional "freebies" are not advertised anywhere once onsite and are not automatically given to customers by the person at the front counter, who takes your order. My feedback for the management of Oakwood BBQ is the person at the front counter, who is the one who is supposed to greet & welcome customers, needs to do better w/ the customer service given since he is the 1st person you see when you walk inside. You are losing potential repeat customers who don't feel very welcomed once they step into your place of business. I don't like being made to feel that I have to ask for the advertised "freebies" because they aren't being offered to us by the guy at the front counter & the vibe not being friendly and welcoming as we are placing our orders. Food Feedback: Crawfish is delicious and plentiful. We ordered 1/2 lb of crawfish (is crawfish only) and 1 1/2 lb of crawfish which comes w/ potatoes & corn. As previous reviews stated the banana pudding is no good & I wouldn't recommend ordering (makes me sad saying this since I love me some banana pudding when it's made right). The banana pudding is "runny" and not a pudding consistency at all & just didn't taste like banana pudding. The potato salad is another side that I wouldn't recommend because it actually tasted like it was spoiled. I actually live very close to Oakwood BBQ & w/the convenience of proximity to our home, I really was hoping that Oakwood BBQ was going to be our local place to hang out regularly w/ our family & friends but not sure that's going to be the case after all.

Yelp
I love bbq hamburgers and I have been searching for a place in Austin with no luck. I finally found a couple spots I wanted to try and went to one earlier today. They were sold out of their burger. I saw that Oakwood had a burger on their menu, so I decided to try it out. It said pit burger so I thought this would be exactly what I'm looking for. I ordered the burger and some ribs to go. The burger tasted fine, but it didn't have that smoked/grilled flavor I was looking for. It just tasted like a regular fried burger. The ribs were good. They had a dry rub and a good flavor.

Yelp
I loved this place! Super quaint and quiet on a Sunday night. Food and drinks were great and super affordable. The waitress was super sweet and personable and there's a fun outdoor patio area with games to pass the time. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
For those of you who have been to Oakwood BBQ - why the hell are y'all not screaming for the rooftops. In town for work and found this amazing place. Ribs were huge and tasted 10/10 and the brisket was so damn juicy and delicious, I couldn't stop myself. HIGHLY recommend Oakwood. Well done whoever is responsible to make that level of BBQ.

Yelp
Well I've given this place plenty of chances. Ordered the family meal tonight that is $50. The whole order was wrong. It was also short of the two lbs. eight was 1.14lbs. Instead of remaking it, was sent home with 11oz of meat. Since they are being stingy I decided to weigh it. So still short of the 2lbs. All the sides were wrong. Maybe they don't weigh their meat portions, and if so they need to be giving slightly more to their customers, not shorting them. Basically did nothing for compensation and didn't even it up for their mess up. No partial refund or extra items. Won't be back. You've lost a customer that supported you day 1. If you mess up, correct it the right way. Gave two stars cause the food is good, zero complaints there.

Yelp
Second time coming here, updating this. There was a group of 4 people before us ordering and it took them 20 minutes to order. It was unbelievably annoying, and the cashier was enabling them. now that I think about it, my first time was also like this. Just sooooo slow. We also went at like 7pm on a Saturday and they were literally out of everything. No ribs, no Mac and cheese, no corn, no cole slaw, no pulled pork. The worst part is the cashier had to ask the cook every single time if they had something or if they were out. What??? Just write it on a piece of paper and tell me when I'm ordering. Then we go to eat outside. Oh my god. Flies everywhere. So annoying and kind of gross. Plan ahead and call to make sure they have what you want on the menu. Food is still good but experience this time around really pissed me off. Will not be returning.

Katie M.

Yelp
WOW- this place was great! The service was phenomenal and so was the food. I loved the turkey and coleslaw!

Yelp
CRAWFISH REVIEW: Vibes, yes. Live band, yes. Other than that, no. They offer their regular menu, along with their seasonal crawfish menu. We ordered 3-lbs of crawfish (corn/potatoes not included) for $12 each. Waiting for our order, it took almost an hour for a fresh batch to be finished. Luckily, we had beer and the sweet sounds of the Larry Harris Band to occupy us. When it came out, we were even more disappointed. The batch was a bit overcooked and flavorless. How can you tell it's overcooked? When you pinch the tail and it disintegrates in between your thumb and pointer finger, that's how you know. If it's flavorless, it means the batch hasn't been soaking long enough for the flavors to merry. Boiling crawfish is an art, and sadly, Oakwood is a novice.

Yelp
We decided to venture on this rainy Sunday for some bbq after a friend mentioned Oakwood bbq, which is a new spot right by Braker and I-35 in North Austin. We tried the sampler which was great to get to try everything and also eliminated the normal challenge of figuring out what we wanted. We chose burnt end beans and mac n cheese to go with the sliced brisket, pork, turkey, sausage, and delicious cucumber. The turkey and the sauce were probably our favorites. I'd like to go back on a nicer day as they had super cool outside space with a live band and places to play cornhole and connect 4 as well as a decent amount of beer on tap.

Rachel P.

Yelp
Long overdue review - Oakwood is fantastic! The moist brisket and pulled pork are always winners. My favorite is the turkey - super moist and flavorful. We usually get a family meal with BBQ and sides but we have also tried various sandwiches over the years. Everything we've had is consistently delicious. Oakwood is a little gem!

Mike R.

Yelp
Living less than 5 miles from here, they've become my new spot for a BBQ craving fix. If you don't know about the difference oak wood makes in the cooking process, it's hotter, so there's a better bark and meatier texture vs what can seem like "steamed brisket" at some other places. They cook enough for that day and routinely sell out, so you know it's fresh. HUGE outdoor area, lots of indoor seating, and a solid selection of cold beers straight from the fridge or tap. If you're used to BBQ in Dallas, that style is here in Austin now and it's worth a taste!

Nash G.

Yelp
Good food, good beer, laid back venue. Service was personally great for me as well, the manager at the time greeted me and offered a free drink with my order when I came in for lunch.

Yelp
Came here this afternoon and had a great experience. The staff is very kind and the menu is simple. I ordered the crawfish which was AMAZING, my friends ordered the Mac and cheese, cream corned, and brisket and enjoyed all three. They also have a great beer selection. We sat outside and enjoyed the live music -- fantastic vibe. Would definitely come back for a nice meal in the sun!

Yelp
Overall, this location was merely ok. The staff was excellent, and the location was your standard barbecue restaurant. Contrarily, the food tasted like though some salt was missing from every dish. Brisket was quite dry. On the other side, the crawfish was excellent, and the banana pudding was the best I've yet had in the region.

Frank D.

Yelp
On-line order of two meat plate with two sides. Received a one meat plate only. Receipt was correct, and I was clearly charged for both. They had one bar customer when I arrived, so it wasn't because they were busy.

Chris D.

Yelp
Well I was very surprised. Usually these outdoor places have food trucks and the food is sub par. I was quite impressed. Everything cooked in house. I had 2 pounds of Crawfish (ok I lied I did another pound) and they were well above average. I could use a little more spice, but that's just me. My wife had the sampler plate of BBQ, 4 meat, two sides w bread. A bargain for the price. She was very happy and had leftovers for lunch. The beer was cold but I would have liked a few more choices. The staff was great! Love this place Did I mention they had a Blues Band, icing on the cake. It was Blues, Beer, BBQ and Crawfish bonanza. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
We sat inside because it just isn't the time of year to be outdoors for me. Next time for sure. Damn good ribs. The meat falls off the bone. Not real fatty and good bark. These were so good and I will go back for them and the other choices of meat. Brisket was just ok. It was room temp though and needed a bit more salt and pepper. Frito Pie! Wowzers. This is usually a special. This was great. It had mac n.. cheese on it which was kinda odd but interesting. The beans were great too. I would get this again with extra beans and meat. Green Beans! Yum. I will try the other sides next time!

Yelp
This is a bbq joint, review will be a short and sweet! Good and tasty brisket, ribs and sausage. I loved the spicy sausage and moist brisket. Also loved that they have pickled red onions. Sides didn't hit the mark for me, cannot beat Rudy's creamed corn. We were offered a free pulled pork nachos because someone ordered and cancelled. I was pleasantly surprised. I normally wouldn't order pulled pork, buy it was pretty good! I liked the homey feel of the dining area. I didn't check out the patio because it was dark (at night).

Yelp
My family came to visit me for the 1st time in Texas and we had such a delightful experience in Oakwood!!! The staff is super friendly and professional, and also the food is amazing, beyond my expectations! Since that day I started going more to this place to enjoy their food! I wish you success in your business, you deserve it!!!

Jeff K.

Yelp
DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO READ YOUR MODIFIERS!!!! Over and Over again when I order from here I say on my order " no slaw, no onions, no pickles, no veggies, meat only". Out of the 5 times I have ordered from here it has been correct 1 time. I will continue to leave these reviews every time they mess up.

Yelp
I hate to give a 1 star review during a pandemic, but this place made me wish I went to bed hungry. It was a $60 meal that could've been 20... We ordered the family pack meal with moist brisket, sausages, mac, and creamed corn. We also ordered a side of fries, chocolate cake, banana pudding, and oreo cheesecake. I'm not sure of this, but honestly, they served frozen food that you can buy at the grocery store. It was odd that everything we tasted, felt like the stuff that we can find in the freezer aisle. It was the blandest of the bland, extremely small proportions, and very odd cuts. Brisket moist: more than 90% of the 'meat' was fat. We barely had anything to eat. At least it was moist and was the only thing that had salt and pepper.. Sausage: I'm trying to remember the brand name, but it literally tastes, looks, and feels like that long cheap sausage that you can buy at any grocery store. Ridiculous. Mac cheese: tasted like flour, pasta way over cooked, it was an odd burn flour looking color, tasted like nothing, and was gritty??? Creamed corn: it wasnt creamy at all, it looked like corn tossed in flour and milk, color was of sand Fries: same exact thing!! I can go into the freezer aisle and find any fries and cook it myself. It tasted the same exact way. Usually fries have salt on them, this was cooked and thrown into the take away box. The desserts were the nail in the coffin. We cried when they were tasted. The banana pudding was milk like, the whipped cream was the common canned whipped cream that you can buy at the store. (It was a liquid when we got it) the oreo pie tasted like stale oreos, no cream cheese, and whipped cream. Chocolate cake felt like we were eating a dry block of chocolate and tons of raw sugar. The best part? All 3 of us were sick when we woke up. Beware of this restaurant people... take your money elsewhere.
google avatar

Jana C.

Yelp
Unfortunately the food was not warm, the brisket was fatty, and the sausage was flavorless. The banana pudding was like frosting soup that should be embarrassing. We wanted to support a local neighborhood place, but were sadly disappointed.

Arely T.

Yelp
Disappointing... sad... and I feel like I was robbed of my money. First off, when I tried ordering they had ran out of many things (like bread, baked potato). Ordered a two meat plate (turkey and sausage). Turkey looked like leftover dark meat from a school lunch, and the sausage tasted like cheap sausage from the grocery store and rubbery. We got two sides potato salad (H-E-B potato salad taste way better) and Mac and cheese (it was dry and lacked color, Chick-fil-A tastes more authentic). We also got two brisket sandwiches which were actually not entirely bad. I will say though the brisket had pieces of fat that felt rubbery. Sauce had a safe flavor, but it felt like I was eating a spicy version of Kraft BBQ sauce. For a local BBQ joint I honestly felt like I overpaid for church festival food. DO NOT RECOMMEND, not worth your money or time (did I say wait time was horrible?).

Yelp
Best Sunday we've had in a long time! Delicious BBQ nachos, cold beer on draft, fantastic service, and incredible blues music...Couldn't ask for more! It was very easy to social-distance, and the staff appeared to be doing a good job with masks, etc. Looking forward to next time!

Kelsea B.

Yelp
Not safe for consumption. Ordered a rib plate with Mac and cheese and potato salad for delivery the other night. Was delivered in a very timely manner. Unfortunately I also got food poisoning with that delivery. I took two bites of the potato salad and had to throw it away because of how spoiled it was. The pickles and onion also tasted spoiled. Mac and cheese wasn't horrible. Ribs just tasted like pepper. Didn't come with any bread. Woke up at midnight and puked my guts out and then spent the next few days feeling like I had been hit by a truck. Y'all should genuinely be shut down. Will never be coming back will not recommend to anyone. Will continue to flip your establishment the bird every time I drive past it for what you did to my insides.

Yelp
I just ate lunch today at Oakwood BBQ WOW!!! Great customer service, great Texas BBQ I tried the Sampler, all.meats. 2 sides The brisket had just the right amount of juicy beef flavor and outer bark!! Turkey, sausage and pulled pork were all amazing! Delicious coleslaw and creamed corn!!! I.had no more room to even consider dessert today.....next time! Cozy interior!!

Yelp
My husband has had lunch here before and swore up and down this place was the bees knees. He was not wrong! You order at the counter and they have a simple easy to follow menu. You can get a regular meat plate, they even have family meal options, along with sandwiches. My husband got the brisket meat plate with the Mac and Cheese, I got The Herd Sandwich combo with green beans, my Mom got the slider combo where you pick 3 sandwich choices and the burnt end beans, and my Dad got one of the sandwiches choices with the potato salad. Here's the general consensus: Mac and cheese and green beans were fire. The beans and potato salad were lacking. The meats were the best part! Very flavorful and delicious. I would definitely come back here 100% They have a giant outdoor area that's really beautiful. They have a stage for live music. The only real downfall is the parking situation.
google avatar

Beth S.

Yelp
Omg so disappointing. I was there in Austin visiting fam & have tried franklins and Rudys and the salt lick and my fam wanted to try something new. Big mistake. We got the chopped beef sandwich and Cole slaw, beans and Mac & cheese for sides. The sandwich was basically a bunch of fat chunks smothered in bbq sauce. Srsly like every bite I pulled a fat chunk out of my mouth. The sauce was delicious tho! The Cole slaw was the most bland I've ever had. They said it was a blend if mayo and vinegar but it was dry and had no flavor whatsoever. My fam is southern and I make a mean Cole slaw so this was shockingly disappointing coming out of a place like this. The Mac & cheese was basic, just ok. The beans were good, prob enjoyed those the most. Wow, what an unpleasant surprise. Place looks totally cool and there is a great outside space where they have live music. Could have been an off day. Would order the straight up meat plate if I ever go back. And byo Cole slaw!

Karla H.

Yelp
Oakwood's horrible customer service is only is only preceded by their even worse banana pudding. The pudding item should be moved from the dessert to drink menu, not counting the one whole vanilla wafer these cheap-o's manage to work into the budget.
google avatar

Yelp
Not even sure when this place popped up but it's nice to have a new lunch place to eat at in the area. There are plate and sandwich options. I opted for the meat plate so I could give it a good chance and try everything. The mac and cheese looks very good and I admit it is good for a few bites, but it is VERY cheesy and it is super filling. Almost too much cheese, which I can't believe is true, but it is. The meat plate was good, I preferred the turkey because my moist brisket was not too moist. The cole slaw was okay, no complaints but also not to die for. The service is good, it's a walk up and order and they will bring your order to you. The girl at the front was not so inviting and friendly, but all the other staff members were super nice. I would say the parking here is pretty terrible, it's steep and hard to get in and out of it if it is crowded. I will probably return and try out a sandwich next time.
google avatar

Lacey P.

Yelp
We really enjoyed it! Dog friendly!!! The staff was really friendly and the food was delicious. I got the brisket sandwich lean and while there was a mishap and the chopped brisket was SUPER fatty, they gladly switched it out for lean brisket with no dirty looks lol. The bartenders were really nice and helpful and the outdoor area is spread out and great for sunny weather. I can see why other people complained about the fatty meat- some people love it though so I'd just say Either order lean or expect the brisket to be on the super fatty side. I only took off a star bc the drink selection left something to be desired for me personally. Nothing top shelf available unless you're drinking beer lol I'm sorry but I am too old for Andre mimosas. I'd rather pay extra and have decent champagne. We will definitely come back. Boyfriend and his mom got the crawfish and they loved it. Brisket nachos were also good (more like bar food for reference). Solid outdoor patio for bbq and beer!

Yelp
Great Blues! Amazing BBQ and glorious Shade! what more do you need on a Saturday afternoon?

Yelp
Affordable and quality BBQ. We enjoy sitting out on the picnic tables in the shade on a warm summer day. I always order the brisket melt and don't regret it!
google avatar

Michaela M.

Yelp
Ordered this food for lunch drop through work and was not a fan. Not even a little bit. I ordered the chopped baked potato and it was seriously lacking in flavor with barely any meat. I would not order again.

Justin H.

Yelp
This isn't your 5 star Italian restaurant. This is Texas barbecue. A come eat some good food and family friendly environment. I made a stop by and enjoyed some tacos on the shaded porch. As a first time visitor, I highly recommend stopping by!
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
I had high expectations of this place and I still really want to like them but I simply cannot do it. Let's just jump straight to the details. Service was really fast since we were the only people there. Placed an order for briskets, sausages, pork ribs, peach cobbler, burnt end beans and Cole slaw. The briskets were dry and brittle. Not moist at all. Sausages as others had mentioned tastes like cheap sausages that you could buy at HEB. Pork ribs was dry and not good. Peach cobbler dough batter was good but the canned peaches really ruined it. Not enough dough in our serving cup. The beans.... super sweet and not smoky enough. Overall, the food was edible but I wouldn't drop by again until things are rectified.
google avatar

Omar M.

Yelp
Good brisket and house pickled veggies! Service with a smile, not so much! We had the 2 and 3-meat combos with burnt ends beans and coleslaw. I liked it the first time I came here months ago, but have revisited a few times. I was satisfied then with their flavor and decorative flare. Brisket is legit and their pulled pork is actually moist. Unfortunately, that's as far as the good ship, Lollipop had sailed sailed. Not hard to mess up sausage, in my opinion, unless they go cheap... which they seemingly did. The sausage seemed as if they bought them from HEB and completely FORGOT TO SMOKE. With that said, what did stand out to us from the norm was their in-house pickled veggies. Pickled: Sliced Jalapeños, onions, and cucumbers. All tasty and not overpowering. Keep up that delish in-house pickling! I give them 3 stars for not staying consistent with the amount of meat they pile on. They really skimped on the meat yesterday as if rationing the last bit of meats to the last 5 customers in line before closing for the night. Sausage was cold and had no smokiness and the friendliness of the front staff was ehhhh. I guess new places forget about the importance of CS skills at the front of the restaurant after 6 months and just go downhill from there.

Yelp
Sorry but I didn't take a picture of my meal I was hungry lol. I would recommend Oakwood BBQ to others. The meats and sauce was delicious. We got sides my wife wanted the potato salad but didn't see anything else she wanted, so I chose the beans for her last side. I had the potato salad and Mac and Cheese. The beans were the best part of the sides. I don't want to say the other sides were not good just bland compared to what we are use to. The service was fast we called in our order so we are in and out because they were at the night of night. The dinning area seemed cool but did not stick around to enjoy it. If I was in the area I would go back maybe it was a bad day for the sides and may get a better experience the second time.

Yelp
I was stoked about this spot, but I should have read the reviews before going. The two stars are for my side dishes which were ok. I got brisket and ribs; both were overcooked and dry. The ribs were so bad that on one bite some of the bone came off with the meat. The brisket was dry and leathery, luckily the have decent bbq sauce that I used to smother the brisket for some moisture. I don't usually leave bbq on my plate but I did this time. Additionally employees were not wearing masks! I should have left when I saw that, but I guess I'm just too nice and was hoping that the food would be worthwhile.

Yelp
Awesome place! We've been coming for years. Their sandwiches are to die for. The bbq so good but this time we tried their new angus burger. They told us they would throw on the grill to get the ultimate Smokey flavor. It took just a few more minutes but was soo worth it!! Big ass burgers!! Over 1/2 lb I believe. Our fav bbq place in town!

Yelp
Chose to hit this bbq joint for lunch and thought maybe we found a hidden gem. But after trying the food I am thinking otherwise. My experience didn't start too great when I accidentally went to get some soda and didn't see the tape on it that said it was out. Without noticing I took a sip and got warm lime later with floating ants all in it. Ick! The lady who worked there was standing right there and was very apologetic. It was more my fault for not reading the sign. But I also didn't feel like they are keeping things really clean if there was a ton of sugar ants in there. The lady immediately got me a new cup, cleaned out the spout and took the caps off to avoid that happening again. I appreciated how she actually cared and did something about it. The atomsphere was super TX bbq joint appropriate. Lots of great seating and rustic decor. The food was decent I really liked the mac n' cheese, the brisket was much too salty. Yes I realize brisket is salty by nature but I mean salty as in I've been downing water every since yesterday afternoons experience. The pickled cucumbers and onions were on point. Portions were decent but thought the sandwich should include at least one side. I think this place has potential for sure. I like the backyard area and that it seemed to be set up for a full bar. It looks like a great potential hang out spot but something is missing. That something is the bbq....it's just not as good as it could be. In a city....state....region.... full of extraordinary BBQ, being mediocre just doesn't cut it!

Yelp
I would consider myself a regular at this establishment and have been going here for about 3 years. I have found the food consistently excellent but the service definitely has its ups and downs. The first time there I asked for recommendations and I followed them. I have ordered the same thing every time I have visited. The place is pretty close to my house so I always get it to go. My go to order includes The Gobbler sandwich, green beans, and banana pudding. I have never had an issue with the quality of the food. Like any BBQ place, they are sometimes out of food but I have learned to go when they typically still have what I want. I highly recommend the items mentioned above.

Yelp
Let me start by saying their barbecue is not the best. It's good, very good. But not the best. So why am I giving them 5 stars? Not because I'm nice. I just went with a friend. He ordered the frito pie with brisket and pulled pork. I had the road hog sandwich. Best darn sandwich I have had anywhere, anytime. I will be back for it. Hopefully many, many times. Man was it good. No, it wasn't good. It was out of this world, amazingly good. The frito pie is what all frito pies should be. I've never liked the frito pie. I've never understood the attraction to this dish. I've tried it several times in numerous places but never liked it. This is a different beast entirely. I'm not going into the details of what is in each. But they are the best I've had. Hands down.

Yelp
Parking is OK. Walk in and order your food. We came to enjoy the crawfish. Pricing was average. Not sure why we couldn't order our food and drinks at the same register. Literally saw a woman take cold cans of beer from where we ordered to the back of the building. Which is where we then had to order the beer. Everything seemed a little rundown but maybe that was the intentional vibe. Food came out in less than 1015 minutes. Unfortunately our whole plate was cold. Potatoes were OK sausage taste it cheap and the crawfish weren't that big. After telling the host about our cold plate the manager proceeded to tell me food can stay cold without getting people sick for up to Exemouth of hours. I was not impressed or intrigued. Our same plate exact same plate came out with no adjustments other than more spice and warm. I hate asking people to take my food but I hate even more getting the exact same plate back for fear they might add "special sauce" Hubby and I chose to eat our food drink a beer and enjoy the music. We sat inside but if we ever go back we will sit outside if the weather is good because it has a cool backyard. Even dog friendly. Don't expect much and give this place a try I'm hoping my experience will be better next time and that your experience is definitely better than mine.
