Temple Pastries Is Growing, and Getting Into Pizza - Eater Seattle

"Oaky’s Tex-Mex was a restaurant that opened in 2021 in Seattle's Central District but has since closed. The space is now being taken over by Temple Pastries to expand its operations." - Harry Cheadle

This is a nice, cozy and warm place and on a Friday evening had about a 10 minutes wait time. The food is very tasty and the portion size is good. I had the fajita and carne asada and it was very tasty. The rice had a lot of flavor and the carne asada was delicious. I also had the spicy margarita which was very spicy and packed a good kick. I would definitely recommend this place. I saw almost every alternate table order the chalupa so I am guessing this is like a favorite. Will definitely try this the next time. The staff is super friendly.

The meats were wonderful in the barbacoa burrito and chicken verde enchilada. We can taste the smoky flavors in the brisket and pulled chicken. The chips and guacamole can improve I think, it was nothing spectacular. We will try the queso dip next time. The chocolate ganache for the churro was fantastic. The portions were generous, the plates come with rice and beans. The staff were friendly as well.

The food here is spectacular! Went during happy hour so prices were a little cheaper but the quality of the food was certainly not cheap. Great flavors all around. The Texas fries were very filling if you’re eating them solo but very much worth it. Would definitely come back again

Umm, yes please! We checked this spot out the day after they opened and we were not disappointed. The queso was the perfect texture with just the right amount of heat. All the protein options looked incredible but if I had to chose a favorite, the pork belly al pastor wins hands down. Every interaction we had with the team was top-notch and made us feel like regulars. Can’t wait to come back!

Such great tacos! I had the chicken verde tacos with chips and Queso. Def the best Queso I’ve had in Seattle so far. And definitely real tex-mex. I love it!

New place in the neighborhood of CD with the limited operating hour (T-S from 4 pm to 10 pm). Spacious with height ceiling. Friendly staff and delicious food. Very reasonable prices! Highly recommended this place.

Got the happy hour birria tacos, a beer&shot, enchiladas, carnitas, and Barbacoa tacos. Aka got A LOT of food. They left a lot to be desired. I have nothing to back this up, but it seems as though this place is just using the scraps of meat left at the end of the day from market bbq (same owners, across the street). Which is fine. It’s a good repurpose of the meat and cuts down on food waste. But I was looking for more flavor. And why eat here when you can go across the street and get some of the best bbq in Seattle? (See my previous reviews, market is 5/5 stars.)

I came here months ago and loved it, but this visit was disappointing. I ordered guac which looked like it came out of a packet. Come to find out it was “guac pulp” made from squash?? Fried chicken sandwich was ok but underdressed. I’d go back for the same if prices dropped.
